TURNS OUT IT'S ALL UPSTAIR NEIGHBOURS FAULT like they're unsure if something was clogged in their toilet pipes or if there was a burst, but they cannot check because the inspector deals with vents and not an actual plumber so we're--and I mean the upstair neighbours--is going to have to call a plumber and deal with this bullshit. ALso turns out when they flushed their toilet to check where the leak was coming from, we very much saw where the leak was happening and also turns out their bathroom floor was flooded with water too which, gross. And the inspector person said that it's all on upstair neighbours to deal with this issue and not us because they're the ones causing damages

This is very speculative, but I'm suspecting Kipperlily is using the Ethereal Plane to spy on the Bad Kids and if I'm right I might have figured how she got found out by the rogue teacher!

First, let me explain my paranoid thoughts about the spying. Since ep 3, we are aware that Kipperlily is hearing their conversations, even if we don't know for sure the extent of it. She, just like Riz, must have a crazy stealth modifier + reliable talent, however I don't think she's relying only on that.

So, there's a scene in ep 4 when the Bad Kids roll for perception to spot Kipperlily. Kristen casts See Invisibility and Fabian rolls a nat 20. Brennan describes, only to Fabian, that although he doesn't see Kipperlily, he feels the "twinge of some kind of sense". Very creepy. That implies that she's there but cannot be seen. She could be invisible, however I don't think that's the case because an invisible person could still be perceived through hearing or touch. Also, Kristen would have been able to see her because of the spell.

With that in mind, the paranoid goblin that lives inside my brain is convinced that she's using the Ethereal Plane to spy on the Bad Kids. The Border Ethereal is perfect for infiltration and spywork, since you pass through physical objects and watch everything in the material plane without ppl there perceiving you. There are a couple of ways to access the Ethereal Plane, with spells or items, but I have no ideia abt the specific method she might be using.

Her being in the ethereal plane explains why Fabian, with his nat 20, didn't notice any physical indicatives of Kipperlily but still felt a presence, like some sixth sense. Now, Adaine did use her Third Eye so she could see into the Ethereal Plane within 60 feet and still saw nothing. But that doesn't mean that Kipperlily isn't there since there's a very easy way to circumvent Adaine: Non detection. This is a third level spell that hides the target from divination magic - for 8 hours they "can’t be targeted by any divination magic or perceived through magical scrying sensors". The Rat Grinders, long time haters of the Bad Kids, are for sure aware that Adaine is a divination wizard, they would be fools to spy on the party without casting Non Detection first. She's the motherfucking elven oracle!

Okay, now about the rogue teacher. In ep 3, Siobhan theorizes the rogue professor is the ghost teacher. I think she's absolutely right! We know most teachers of Aguefort and even if the ghost one was among those we havent seen, the Bad Kids would probably have heard about them if they were teaching something like ranger class. It's plausible that the reason for the party having no ideia who they are and not even passing by them in the halls is that the ghost is the rogue professor. After all, no one knows who the hell they are, it's the whole point of their teaching method. And for a ghost it would be really easy to go undetected since they can travel through the Ethereal Plane, beside the insane stealth.

Indulge my conspiracy theories for a minute. Rogue professor = Ghost Teacher and Kipperlily can wander in the Ethereal Plane, the plane of ghosts. Even with the advantage of being on the same plane as the teacher, it would still be a nightmare to find them since they are a pro rogue. In fact, Kipperlily didn't achive that: the rogue teacher found her.

But how did she manage to have the professor find her? I'm sure it wasn't an accident, she's too calculating for that. So, I started thinking about what would I do in her place and came up with the stupidest ideia. It's utterly ridiculous. But it could totally work and the strategy seems kinda Kipperlily's style.

Remember the Ghost Steak? The one Fig tried to eat when she invaded the teacher's lounge in season one? It's the ghost teacher's lunch, and Brennan reestablished its existence in ep 3 when Adaine used Ethereal Sight, explaining that the school wards are porous enough to allow ethereal travel and other stuff.

So if I was Kipperlily, my dumbass plan would go as follows: invade the teacher's lounge through the ethereal plane and hide inside the fridge. It wouldn't be a problem for me since I'm intangible and can pass through stuff, plus the other professors wouldn't see me even if they opened the fridge. Inside, I wait as long as needed, until the Rogue/Ghost Teacher gets hungry. They finally open the fridge to grab their snack, only to find me looking at them from inside the fridge like a lunatic. Mission complete: got found by the rogue teacher and aced junior year!

It's so mundane and stupid and that makes me more convinced that's exactly what happened. It's too funny to not be true.

I have no desire to get you in trouble but I would be curious to hear your thoughts on the new episode and the preview because I also have.. thoughts and I'm interested in what other people clocked as not great or kinda.. idk. other people's concerns, because I have had a lot of them and I never see people really talk about those things

they're doing a new format this season where they film a bunch of rp episodes in a row then take a break when there's a battle so the crew can get the battleset ready, so I understand the dissonance. but the tone of this episode from the tone of last episode was SO jarring. I was ready to chew drywall at the end of episode 17 but we head into the episode 18 fight and at the end all I can say is... damn! that sure is a battle that happened. the entire fight felt really low-stakes even though objectively a few of the bad kids were in mortal danger, but the mood at the table was so relaxed and chill and there was almost no roleplay at all... which drove me so crazy

and then after all of that we're headed straight into ANOTHER battle episode judging by the preview... and it's against the rat grinders and porter/jace! let me out I want PLOT & DIALOGUE fhjy cannot end like this (5 hours straight of battle where they just kill everyone that moves). there's 2 eps left so I really hope they do the last ep as a 4 hour long roleplay only epilogue episode because as we've all seen ending campaigns on a battle leads to frankly really rushed character and world decisions. it's ultra disappointing too because I loved this entire season so much so far. the setup and buildup and plot points and mystery of fhjy is the best they've ever done it in dimension 20 period

ep 18 fhjy battle was a letdown to me... not giving the party an rp episode after 3 hours of loredump + going straight into a final battle without being able to interact with the world after gaining info is bad. they should've had a chance to process everything they learned about house sunstone, porter's plan, the rat grinders being used as ascension fodder, whatever the whole deal behind ambrosia and lucy frostkettle and why they needed a helios cleric in buddy IN ROLEPLAY. I don't want all this stuff explained to me after the battle by brennan or in some throwaway lines in the adventuring party - I want the bad kids to talk to people! I want them to investigate! I want fig to pull some BS with porter knowing the full extent of all his plans. it really sucks for us as an audience too to be hit with all this lore and get approximately 0 time for it to sink into the implications of how the worldbuilding was shaped by it or realizations of "ohhh that's why that happened at the beginning of the season" before we go straight into killing everyone.

with the way this is going I don't have any confidence they're gonna be able to actually empathize at all with the rat grinders too before they start lopping heads off because in battle episodes everyone kind of just. becomes numbers and an objective to take out except for pet favourite npcs of the cast. and they've mostly been interacting with the rat grinders as nuisances all season 😭 I'm PRAYING to be proven wrong and the last 2 episodes of this are fantastic but it's not looking good folks

…so I’ve made some connections

(spoilers for all of TMA and TMAGP (as of Episode 15))

Lady Mowbray seems to have a lot of visual similarities to depictions of Scylla from Greek mythos. A woman of violent power with hounds at her hips and a taste for human flesh. The resemblance is uncanny, even with the added flavor of her being a capital-L Lady.

It’s interesting to me to see how the “fear powers” we’ve been introduced to so far in Protocol’s universe seem to have connections with Odyssey antagonists.

- Lady Mowbray aligns with Scylla

- The Sea (the Vast/Buried amalgamation from Ep. 11) aligns with Poseidon/the ocean (or possibly the Sirens)

- Mr. Bonzo aligns with Polyphemus

- The tree from Ep. 3 and the snakes from Ep. 14 align with Circe

- Needles seems to align well with Charybdis

- The starving crowd from Ep. 8 aligns with the Lotus Eaters (or possibly the Sirens)

Heck, even the Man on the Screen from Ep. 5 could align with the Oracle and the traveling merchant (responsible for the violin in Ep. 4 and (probably) the dice in Ep. 9) could align with Hermes (though I would hesitate to call either the Oracle or Hermes antagonists). Which leaves Ink5oul, the volunteers in Ep. 7, and the gambling app from Ep. 13 without any solid equivalents.

To be fair, I think basing all of TMAGP’s antagonists on a single epic may be too small-scale and isn’t enough for a solid theory, but the connections are interesting to dissect 👀

this was THE comeback. many IXLUVS thought that GODS was SOTY and wished KQ had released it earlier in the year. the mv for GODS managed to reach 20 Million views on YouTube after just 10 hours.

promotions for this comeback were also pretty decent. you went on several variety shows and did several interviews. you even went overseas and performed on the Kelly Clarkson's Show and GMA along with doing interviews for both shows. you seemed to have a lot of fun with kelly and many IXLUVS thought she nice and friendly with you.

there was also a secret track on the physical version of the album, many were surprised to see it was a track with you and WOOYOUNG. the credits for the song also showed that the two of you wrote it together and HONGJOONG helped produce it. you revealed on your comeback live that you and wooyoung wrote it while you both were in paris together and recorded it when you got back to korea.

you also released an audiobook called "solemn: the banished girl" which gave major lore pieces and expanded on how you and ateez are possibly connected story-wise. the oracle version also came with an extra cd that has you reading the "to kill a god" novella that the album came with.

you also released an mv for EVE, PSYCHE, & BLUEBEARD'S WIFE. you also promoted OFF THE RECORD and I DO on music shows as b-sides and each song got at least two stages.

the styling for the era also popped off as always and many netizens commented on how it really played into the "modern god" concept. a lot of fans got emotional when you wore an outfit from your Temptation: ROOTS era since you never got to actually promote the mini album. it was very heartwarming.

percy series ep 3 thoughts

so you can't rate shows on letterbox'd so i'm going to log my pjo thoughts here: (spoilers for ep3) (watched 27 dec 2023)

oracle scene was funny. for all the show onlys, it seems as though grover is the one kind of being built up as the character who's going to betray percy (at least in the beginning of this ep), which is an interesting choice.

on the action sequences (part 1): i do think the action sequences are pretty lackluster. when i rewatched the percy jackson lightning thief movie, the action and violence and reactions seemed very proportionate - like, the appearance of a horrifying monster actually had impact, whereas i feel like in the show, the pacing and choreography make it seem pretty banal.

the fight with the fury on the bus was uninteresting and didn't seem like much of a fight at all. annabeth's supposed to be quick and athletic and a really skilled knife fighter (skilled enough that she can even use a knife as her primary weapon instead of a sword) but there so far hasn't really been any proof of that. i'm willing to be a lot more generous though because the actors are very young and the target audience is clearly much younger than i am as well, and it's obvious that for those reasons they're trying to avoid violence/body horror/gore. however, the fight scene with clarisse in ep 2 was incredibly well-shot and choreographed, and it had action and movements that felt real and impactful, so i don't know why they don't try to achieve the same things with the other fight/action sequences.

on medusa: i was so interested by the way they were going to decide to portray medusa's story, especially because of sally's comment in ep 1 to percy about perseus being a hero because 'he killed monsters' like medusa: "who said she was a monster?"

i loved em's line: "the gift the gods gave me is that I cannot be bullied anymore," which initially insinuated to me that this adaptation of medusa is the one who was sexually assaulted by poseidon in athena's temple, so athena made it so no man could pull that with her ever again, but then they went with the "athena decided I embarrassed her and needed to be punished" story which i kind of feel like isn't totally consistent with the "gift" narrative? i mean they can be mutually exclusive in that what may have been originally a punishment from a god can be taken as a gift since she has to live with and make the best of it, but when medusa called herself "a survivor" and talked about "bullies" (a term that makes sense in the context given that it's a kid's/middle grade show) i will admit i was hoping it would go a different direction. alternately though if she were a SA survivor i don't know if killing her would have been the right move in the end lmao and ik they had to kill her for the plot.

i do think there was a more overarching message of the importance of understanding the unheard/unrepresented sides of stories as well as the lesson for annabeth that the gods aren't infallible and morally just but are petty and vindictive and cruel and humanlike. so i think the story was dealt with pretty well, all things considered.

on medusa and the action sequences (part 2): again, i think medusa's death scene was pretty anticlimactic. (this is not because i see them as adaptations of equal quality or even on the same playing field at all, but again,) to compare it to the pjo:tlt movie - the movie's medusa fight scene had a lot more impact; the tension and fear and stakes felt a lot more heightened and real while still being quite comedic/entertaining.

cool idea, in the show, using the hat to turn medusa invisible, but again, i wasn't ever actually convinced that the characters felt scared, under pressure, winded/tired after fighting, or even emotionally scarred by the intensity of the moment/having to decapitate someone. while all of the other scenes portray high emotions very impactfully and earnestly (i.e. sadness, wistfulness, loneliness, hurt/comfort), i have yet to be convinced that any of the demigods have been even a little bit frightened of any of the monsters, from the first fury attack at the met, and this unfortunately makes the stakes seem much lower.

while i understand the focus of the show is on character building (mainly through the dialogue), i don't see why the fight/action scenes can't be just as visually compelling and impactful. the emotional tension between the characters and the depiction of each character's internal conflicts, while powerful, can only do so much if the plot itself isn't supporting those developments, and I feel like the addition of the action sequences in the books serves to elevate the storyline to match the emotional stakes. they can tell the story as much as they want thru voice-over and dialogue, but the characters' physical actions represent just as much about the characters and their choices and motivations as their direct interactions with each other. i think maybe some of this stems from not wanting the story to be misinterpreted or to in any way resemble the movies, but you have to trust your audience. you can't just say everything explicitly, and if you do have to, then i don't think a tv show is the right medium in which to tell the story, which is typically my main issue with book-to-movie/tv adaptations.

anyway, while this seems like a lot of criticism, it's really only that one overarching problem that stands out to me. i obviously love the source material and (anyway would argue that i have to love it in order to want to think about it this much) the show itself, and the actors, and this has absolutely EVERYTHING to do with the fact that it's extremely extremely obvious how thought-out, how deliberate every single minute detail is. if there's one thing at all that matters to me, it's creators who care about their work, and this is a perfect example of ones who do.

on tv show percabeth: BRO "I CHOSE HER 'CAUSE I COULDN'T IMAGINE WE'D EVER BE FRIENDS" ???? i had to write this three times bc tumblr kept deleting everything i wrote orz. u get mey's condensed pso2 lore (i still have close to nothing for her ngs lore aaa)

meyneth is the incarnation of the great light, born together with the universe and the primordial darkness!

ten years before the story of pso2 begins, she is almost a casualty from the attack on the arks ship by dark falz apprentice, and is saved in the nick of time by a pair of newman siblings. her body is mechanized from the inside to save her life. after these events, she decides that she’s going to find the two siblings that rescued her and give them a proper thank you

years later, she joins arks and befriends afin on her first day on the job. they become besties and are never seen far from the other. mey is extremely proficient with light element techniques and is a very fearsome force/techter (she gets a lot of comments about her power being blinding like the sun itself)

the story is largely the same as the one in canon, except for after when matoi is taken by the profound darkness; mey goes to see euclyta, because her case gives her hope, and no matter how many times shes told its futile, she returns over and over; not just to talk about saving matoi, but because she genuinely likes being around her and they become very close friends. she doesnt want to say anything, but the truth is that mey developed a huge crush on euclyta along the way. she’s content with keeping quiet until xiao asks her to undergo cryosleep to cleanse her body from f-factor. the night before she has to go, euclyta steps up and confesses she’s also got feelings for her. they promise they’ll be together once mey comes back.

two years pass, she wakes up, and reunites with her friends.

episode 4 as it is in the game doesnt exist in this story because i dont like it so the way i retconned it is an arc focused on defeating falspawn across the planets in preparation for the primordial darkness’ return, like xiao had said at the end of episode 3. there is a lot of focus on mey reconnecting with her friends and catching up on the two years they missed out on, and her developing relationship with euclyta.

when the primordial darkness returns, mey harnesses her innate light and manages to separate persona from it, creating omega in the process. episode 5 continues as normal, except that when euclyta and aurora are brought to epyk, they refuse to go back to oracle and stick together with mey (largely because eucie doesnt wanna leave her alone on a strange medieval fantasy isekai, like if you found out your girlfriend was fighting REAL firebreathing dragons, golems, and shit you’d be terrified for her wellbeing too) (she got a very cool epyk disguise because otherwise margareta wouldnt let them go)

when episode 5 ends theres another divergence from canon, in which mey is too kind for her own good and saves elmir from dying and forces him into the falz sitcom headspace together with luther, gettemhart and co. she has to constantly tell them to not lay a finger on him. also he refuses to admit he does like her. she gets a very cool masquerade dark blast form!

in the small timeframe between the end of ep5 and before shiva overtakes the mothership in ep 6, mey obtains a cosmogenic arm of her own in the form of lightstream xion, after fighting the requiem of the specters grudge (the dark falz persona raid).

the war against shiva goes the same, but when it comes to the finale you might be asking who the third heroine is if i wrote hitsugi out of existence. its euclyta :D because i can and because i believe in the power of love skjdhsj

after the end of the story, things go quiet and they try to resume life and live in peace. meyneth and euclyta get married a few years later. i am still ironing out how i want this ending to connect to ngs bc we still have so little lore on the meteorn but i’ll make it work. i now realize this was supposed to be about mey and i somehow still ended up rambling a bit about euciemey in the process whoops. anyway .

After a very embarassing incident at work, Vicky is at her local grocery store buying the typical things for a white people taco night: Crunchy shells, ground beef, taco seasoning, guac, that sort of thing.

SCENE COMPLICATION: An obstacle blocks your way ORACLE (What kind of thing is it?): Unexpected (What does it do?) Protect

Suddenly, someone leans against one of the glass windows of the store. It looks like a young person, probably a teenager, wearing a green lycra suit with leather straps. They slump to the ground, leaving a trail of blood on the glass.

Vicky sees this and immediately rushes over to the kid. He is holding a katana on one hand, and pressing on a bleeding wound with the other, looks like a gunshot now that she sees it more clearly.

"Fuckfuckfuckfuck" Vicky's mind is rushing through all her training, trying to remember the little bit of first aid she knows "These kids, they hear about The White Eagle and think they can just become a superhero"

Healing (d4/d6, dif 5): 3, 3. Vicky fails to stabilize the kid's injuries

Vicky puts some pressure on the wound, but she doesn't seem to be doing anything. From the corner, two people wearing ski masks pull up "where is that fucking kid? He's gonna pay for what he did to Mark"

Vicky thinks for half a moment. "Am I really about to do this?" On another day, she may have walked away, but after that little encounter with Stalwart before she's feeling like doing a bit of vigilante-ing. She's also not about to leave the kid to fend for himself, she's not that kind of person. Vicky grabs the katana from the hands of the bleeding teenager, and stares down the muggers.

INITIATIVE: Vicky draws a 9, the muggers draw an Ace. Oof.

The two muggers pull out pistols and shoot at the woman they just saw grab a sword and start walking towards them

Two Shooting rolls, (d6, dif. 4): a 3 and a 4, one of the two shots hits.

2d6 damage against Vicky's Toughness of 8: Only 3 damage, not enough to cause a Wound

One of the shots hits Vicky's shoulder, but the bullet just makes a pinging sound as it bounces off her skin. Their faces go white as they realise this girl is tougher than they were expecting.

Fighting (d10/d6 dif. 5): Double 4s! The attack misses, so we're gonna spend one of the three Bennies Vicky has to reroll and... A 3 AND A 4, MISSES AGAIN!!

Vicky swings wildly and one of the two criminals barely dodges it. The katana hits the wall and splits a couple of bricks in half on impact. "She's a goddamn super!!"

INITIATIVE: Vicky draws a Queen and the muggers draw a 9.

Vicky reconsiders decapitating two random civilians in the middle of the street and drops the katana. "Time for a less-than-lethal approach" she thinks.

Fighting (d10/d6 dif. 5): 1 and 3. Are you kidding me? I'm spending another Bennie idc. 4 and 5, that's more like it. d10+d4 damage against the guy's Toughness of 5: 2+3 is 5, barely enough. What is it with these low rolls?

One solid right hook and a meaty thud and one of the two muggers is down unconscious in the ground. The other just shoots wildly into the scary lady that just sent his friend to sleep

The mugger tries to shoot at Vicky, but she grabs his hand and moves it out of the way, the shot hitting the wall behind them. Vicky pulls the mugger into her and hits him with a knee to the stomach. The force is enough to send him flying back 15 feet into the street.

The combat is done for now, but the corageous unnamed teenage vigilante still needs to make a Vigor roll to see if he survives.
