A lot of people don't include Barbara as one of the main Batkids because she, of course, already has a great dad-- and that's totally understandable-- but I honestly think that just means we need more Batman and Gordon co-parenting. Like, whether Jim knows that Barbara is Batgirl or not he just has this overwhelming urge to protect this one, even more than he does the other kids, and of course so does Bruce because Babs is his first daughter and that man is a Girl Dad™ through and through. Just. Come on.

Baby!Babs early in her Batgirl days making a joke about driving the Batmobile (this bitch is like 14 her ass does not have a licence) which triggers Jim and Bruce to both immediately go "Absolutely not." In the EXACT same Dad Tone and she's like. Holy shit there are two of them now. ("Language.")

Jim and Bruce both sleeping in the chairs next to her hospital bed while she's recovering from The Killing Joke, both in that exact same Dad Pose where their arms are crossed and their chin is against their chest with half-eaten vending machine snacks in their hands. (Sobbing).

Oracle!Barbara calling in super late at night with an update on a piece of evidence, and when Bruce picks up the comm he goes "Did I not tell you to go to bed two hours ago?" And she can hear Jim in the back saying "He definitely did, I was there!" (Neither of them have slept in 48 hours).

Anytime Barbara needs something on her wheelchair fixed or adjusted Bruce and Jim both instinctually offer to do it and so sometimes she just re-breaks whatever was fixed to give her other dad the opportunity to do it too because it makes them feel helpful.

Babs when she first starts getting back out on patrol again being reported on in the news and she gets two identical texts the next morning that say "Weren't you supposed to have Physical Therapy yesterday evening."

Open your imaginations people. Do not limit her to ONE insufferable white dad. Give her two.

Highly specific things I think the Bats do that piss off Babs

(From someone who works in a job that's librarian-adjacent)

Bruce

Constantly writes case notes on paper (which is fine) but either neglects to digitise them at all or dumps huge quantities of notes on her desk, with little or no organisation for her to sort through and digitise for him (she does not). Babs is 100% certain he only writes in a little notepad because The Grey Ghost did it.

Dick

Constantly loses/breaks his phone. He at least has the sense to comm Babs when he loses them so she can wipe them, but it's still incredibly frustrating to have to wipe Dick's brand new phone for the third time that month and then set up a new one with all the bat- bells and whistles because he forgot to zip his pockets up before doing a flip.

Jason

He still uses a flip phone entirely because he knows Babs couldn't get anything useful from it even if she could hack it. Also writes notes on paper, but they NEVER see the light of a photocopier. Insists he can just remember everything in his head.

Cass

Takes video notes, because she can express herself easier through sign language. This is one hundred percent not her fault, and Babs isn't mad at her. She's actually mad that she can't get her ASL transcription software to work flawlessly, so she has to dedicate A LOT of storage space to keeping the original videos.

Duke

Abbreviates way too many things in his notes but doesn't explain what they mean. Also uses slang Babs is painfully aware she's getting too old to keep track of and then mocks her when she doesnt know it.

Damian

Invents his own highly complicated note taking and file management systems that only make sense to him. Refuses to explain any of it because "if you can't understand my case notes, then obviously you're not worthy of them".

Steph

Surprisingly concise, well-organised and thorough with her case notes, but bought something off Temu with the Bat-Credit-Card once and got the details leaked to the dark web.

Head cannon: Jason trains dogs in his territory to sniff out and fend off drug dealers, to come running when they hear someone scream and attack child molesters, rapists and other kinds of abusers.

He started out small, only one dog at first (Dog). He adopted it and gave it basic training with questionable success. But one day some asshole decided to bother him by getting too close to a kid while he was walking Dog. He decided to beat up the guy. When the man landed a hit on him though, Dog slammed onto the man and bit his leg. The man ran away as Jason hold back Dog from following him. After that he went to calm the child down, and said that Dog was nice and let the kid pet him.

He already was feeding the dogs around his safe houses, he is a bleeding heart for strays of the crime alley after all, when the idea started to appear.

It was easier to teach the dogs whom to bit and whom to comfort than to teach them how to sit fown and roll over. It was more difficult to teach them how to sniff out drugs, and he actually asked Dick to help him out(since he is a cop and cops have dogs).

(Dick didn't know jack shit about how to train dogs, but he reached out to some of his cop buddies and figured it out to help Jason.)

It was a great success. Strays were everywhere in the alley, everywhere in Gotham, and they helped so much.

Jason also reached out to Tim, so he would use WE's funds to feed and train strays all over Gotham. They set up several shelters, in which they trained and looked after dogs, and started dog training courses for Gothamites.

(Babs and Selina helped them find homeless people from alley, who could stay in shelters and look after the stray dogs. Cass and Steph gave lessons on how to understand dogs' body language and how to approach them without scaring them. Leslie gave lessons on first aid, as far as it went alike on humans and animals.)

The real change came with Damian though, Damian who loved animals and who knew how to look after and train them. He attended several classes as the educator, and gave all kinds of lessons on how to look after animals, not just dogs but all kinds of animals you could find in gotham.

Years later, they had vigilante dogs and cats; messenger pigeons, crows and owls; giant rats that would devour any kinds of dispose on alleys(which causes problems on murder cases from time to time), etc...

And it all had started because Jason Todd was so fucking kind and good and pure in his soul.

Batkids Secret Santa

I picked the character combinations with an online wheel.

Dick gets Stephanie a charm bracelet with a robin bird charm and a bat charm on it.

Jason opens up a library in Barbara's name.

Tim gets Jason a new, specifically less breakable, helmet/muzzle. Inside is a note that reads "see, told you I'll always be there for you."

Cass gets Damian a martial arts obstacle course. They compete against each other on it.

Duke gets Dick headphones that won't fall out while he's doing acrobatics.

Damian gives Duke a manga story he wrote and illustrated. The story stars his self insert "Damian Vane" and a character based on Duke. The character is knight themed as reference to Signal's name origin.

Barbara gets Tim a custom computer watch.

Steph gets Cass tickets to the gotham ballet.

Fun fact, a batfam secret Santa is actually canon. It's in Nightwing's Batman Urban Legends story, written by Tini Howard and collected in Nightwing: Fear State.

Jason wasn't part of it but I decided to include him anyway. One, I love him. Two, I could genuinely see him partaking after the character development he's been getting lately.

bruce as aaron burr and jason as alexander hamilton

look me in the eye and tell me that hamilton and burr's dynamic is not basically bruce and jason

like jason is this poor kid who's ambitious and has a lot of things he wants to change about the world

for both selfish and selfless reasons but we see him go from the hero to a more morally grey character throughout the musical

he's constantly critiquing burr for not doing enough and just going with the status quo

literally bruce not willing to kill any of his villains and jason being like the joker has killed so many people because of it

like is this part of the song not just basically that one scene in under the red hood

also burr is sort of a mentor figure to hamilton until they realize they don't agree on their principles

dick as hercules mulligan

ngl i don't really have an explanation for this one except i think he would like milfs and i trust him with espionage the most out of the robins

and yknow the whole playboy thing but also when he gets down to business he gets it done

damian as marquis de lafayette

badass, gets shit done, friends with hamilton (i want to hc that jason andd damian did hang out in the league of assassins even though that's not really true because i think they both need more positive sibling relationships and also i love how similar the characters are)

also lafayette comes with financial backing for the war and damian's loaded

i mean he’s the antagonist i feel like that’s obvious

but like how king george is barelyyyy a villain in hamilton and most certainly does not crack the top 5 list of most interesting characters, joker is also honestly overhyped and overrepresented in batman adaptations

also i want to see jonathan groff play the joker if they ever do a batman musical, sue me
