HOW TO FIND AND DESTROY BOTS IN THE ASEXUAL TAG -- A Guide

the bots have become way more creative and sometimes they can go unnoticed by bot hunters because they aren't semi-naked trans women.

the most important thing is to check the tags of posts!!!

these tags are often what bots also tag wrongly in their posts along the asexual tag:

taylor swift

mariah carry

ryan gosling

yellowjackets

starwars

donald trump

the owl house

margot robbie

barbie

across the spider verse

super mario

rwby

and some others that i can't remember

some posts can be really challenging and some accounts can really fool you. the most creative one i've ever seen has to be this:

the bot only had like 5 posts and all of them were about usual, typical life. one was of 2 little girls (the bot's "daughters")

but if you looked at the tags of all of the bot's posts, it did not match at all. there was a mix of asexual, taylor swift, and donald trump

(and also, there's no way a middle aged proud republican would even know what tumblr is)

some other points:

look for bots in the latest section of the tag, not the top (more likely to find bots)

when you find a bot, go to the bot's account and report all of the posts and then the bot itself; even if not all the posts have the tag asexual, it's still a bot

(even if you believe that the user is an actual human person, but have used the asexual tag incorrectly, i would still report all of their posts and then themselves. you should never intentionally tag incorrectly)

the bots tend to reblog their own posts to increase the number of spam posts

stuff like ai art or scenery are usually bots (again, check the tags)

I have seen bots in other languages than English! I've only seen hindi and one that i think was turkish (again, the only way to say they're bots is to check the tags)

i bot hunted for about 1 to 1.5 hours today and i didn't found any bots after a while of scrolling. i think we reported most of them, but there are still some out there.

while i think you are probably right about the fact that there isn’t going to be as much transmasc porn in the transfem tag (though i can’t say i’m 100% certain, it’s not like i’ve ever scrolled through both tags and actually counted) and i do find the amount of porn in our tags frustrating, i want to talk a bit about the way this issue is being framed.

the thing you have to remember about porn bots is that you can’t think of them as real people. the whole point of them is to make money by pushing those links into popular tags so as many people see them as possible. they want people to click the link, so they show it to as many people as they can. so when you see these posts, you have to keep in mind that there’s not an individual person sitting behind a screen making specific decisions about whose tags to fuck over or what kind of porn to advertise, those decisions are most likely made based on some sort of algorithm designed to make as much money as possible.

so let’s think about it critically — why might we be seeing so much transfem porn in transmasc tags?

well, a lot of these bots are probably using our tag because tumblr has a lot of transmascs who use those tags. the trans communities on different sites are going to have different demographics, and if you’ve ever seen a poll going around with different choices for transmascs and transfems, you’ve seen just how dramatic the difference in numbers on here can be. these bots are targeting our tags because there are a lot of us here and we tend to be very active which means the bots have a better chance of getting clicks, not because an actual person decided they wanted to fuck over our tags specifically.

and why does the porn tend to be transfem porn? i can’t say for sure, but i’ll tell you my theories. first of all, i’m guessing these bots are using trans porn because tumblr has a lot of very active trans tags, and they probably take that into account — they assume that people in trans tags are more likely to want trans porn. the tag matches the link’s key words in that way, so that’s what their formula for getting clicks thinks we want to see. and i’m guessing it’s transfem porn specifically because there’s just more of that — transfem porn is much easier to find than transmasc porn, and it’s also probably seen as a better bet for these bots because being more popular means more people will want to click it. and that doesn’t stem from people preferring transfems over transmascs or anything like that, it stems from the rampant fetishization of transfems. these accounts aren’t actual transfem sex workers choosing to put their content in the transmasc tags, they’re bots doing what they think is going to make money. they don’t care how transfems feel about it being used and they don’t care how transmascs feel about seeing it instead of what we were actually looking for.

so while i absolutely share your frustration with our tags being overrun with porn, i don’t like how the issue has been framed by a lot of people as a transmasc vs transfem issue. i get how on the surface, it seems like our tags are having more of a problem with it and that must be for a reason, but the reason doesn’t actually have anything to do with our identities — it has everything to do with what bots think is the best way to get us to click their links.

this problem has nothing to do with transmasc vs transfem, and everything to do with the fact that tumblr won’t take care of its bot problem. if you want to get mad at someone for the fact that you can’t see the content you’re looking for without wading through countless porn bots, that’s where your anger should be going: toward the site that hasn’t done anything about it.

i wanted to lay this all out because while you didn’t explicitly blame transfems for this issue in your ask (you more so just said they don’t have to deal with it to the degree we do), i’ve seen posts with a similar tone that do imply that transfems are somehow behind this issue, and that honestly frustrates me more than the issue itself. blaming transfems for this isn’t fair to them — this is a bot issue, not an issue with real people on the site — and it also doesn’t do us any favors because it makes people less likely to take us seriously when we talk about things that are actually specifically targeting our community spaces.

and even though you didn’t take that explicit blaming stance in your ask, i think this issue being brought up as a “transmasc issue” at all reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of exactly why it happens the way it does. so i want this to serve as a reminder that when we have a conversation about something in our community, we have to think critically about the way we’re framing that conversation and make sure we have a good understanding of the root of the problem at hand.

because this really isn’t an issue that should be framed as transmasc vs transfem. i’m sure it’s not any less frustrating for transfems to see porn that fetishizes their bodies plastered all over the site than it is for us to have to dig through that porn to find the content we’re looking for. and it’s not really an issue that has anything to do with the fact that the tags are for transmascs at all. you say someone is deliberately mistagging into our tags, but it’s deliberate on a level that has nothing to do with the individual tags being used.

if we want to have conversations about the ways transmascs are uniquely mistreated, that comes with a responsibility to make sure the things we talk about are actually examples of a unique form of mistreatment and not symptoms of a totally different issue. we have to be careful not to pick the wrong battles, especially if doing so could artificially pit us against transfems who haven’t actually done anything wrong.

i worry that the struggles we’ve had in making our voices heard within our community have made some of us start to see our transfem sisters and siblings as the enemy by default, so i want to strongly caution everyone contributing to these conversations to think deeply about how you’re framing what you’re saying and if it’s actually appropriate before suggesting that any particular issue is a matter of transmascs vs transfems. there are definitely situations where the root of the issue is lateral aggression or intracommunity conflict, but this isn’t one of them and the fact that so many people have interpreted it that way really doesn’t reflect well on us.

i’m just as annoyed by the porn bots in our tags as the next guy, but this isn’t the way to go about having that conversation.

This is not even just low level scamming, this is creating websites levels of scamming. I checked "buy me a coffee" website, and a lot of it seems clean except their linkedin page does not exist, thier facebook page last interaction is some saying they are a scammer because they have been contacting help center for months and never got any answer despite getting orders, and the website is OBVIOUSLY based on ko-fi and trying to be ko-fi without being kofi. Same thing for the donatefundme / gofundme link. Either this is a real person beign scammed by two donating websites or they are part of the scam themself. They also sent dozens if not hundreds of the exact same ask, so yeah, likely a scam.

everyone in the village hated naruto since the day he was born bc of the demon that lives in his insides somewhere (this sounds crazy if you haven't seen the show but trust me here). iruka was his teacher at school. when everyone was graduating, naruto failed and some side character told him that if he stole a secret scroll he'd pass (since he failed). they were using him tho, and were planning on killing him (i think). and then iruka goes after him and finds him with the scroll before the other person did, and was the first person to actively defend naruto, and was the first person to believe him and see him as the person he was (he's like 12 here btw). and then, iruka always acts as a father figure to naruto, and at the very end of the series, when naruto gets married, he asks iruka to be his father at his wedding. i cried like a little bitch and i swear to god i just lvoe them so much. i doubt anyone will submit them butAAAAAA. iruka was the first person to ever believe in naruto. it’s mentioned throughout the story how much of an impact iruka had on naruto just by believing in him, and it’s super sweet. the real kicker is that at the end of the show, naruto asks iruka to play the role of his father at his wedding, and i will never not cry about it!! literally look at them!!! never shutting up about this!!

like i'm sure this is what you're referring to as well, there's massive difference between minicons and titans and the main autobot cars right.,.even between ground vehicles and fliers,.

okkokok i don't know if you're basing your ideas off a specific existing continuity or making your own here but the ones i'm most familiar with at the moment are cartoon g1, aligned, idw1, and then some of animated so i'm mostly sourcing my braindumping out of those

so the alternative to like.survival of the fittest over generations of passing on traits seems to be. possibility one is that a higher power like the original primes or another kind of pressure arranges for existing cybertronians close in location or social standing to get reformatted into the subspecies that you've mentioned above, for greater chance of survival in their environment, to be useful in terms of functionism, or something else that i can't think of right now..

or another possibility could be that all cybertronians simply get born from the allspark or the matrix or whatever with like. a random chance of emerging as a beastformer or a triple-changer or anything, or if i pull this back towards your ideas of the primes representing these subspecies, maybe the primes would have had some sort of control over the physiology of the new cybertronians,,,,but then i get the question of why would they do that.,,. and then theres the question of,, if a bot gets reformatted or gets a full-frame overhaul or something, like idw megatron going from mining tank to handgun to space thingy to.i think some kind of tank again,, does the change in frame type change what the individual is classified as?,.;']?

and then also do you happen to have any ideas/hcs of how these subspecies are different from each other apart from the obvious bit of the alt modes? bc i don't know if anything has suggested that there are in canon series, but i think there really should be because its fictional alien robot biology and its cool and im always craving it

Dip's fav game? Probably minecraft. Even if that's probably a basic answer, he's basic SHFKSJF. I also think he probably is really into using command blocks and redstone. And he probably also makes his own mods. I also think it's really hard to be bad at Minecraft imo HFDKGJFD. I think he definitely enjoys the more sandboxy games.

Dip's WORST game is any fighter. He sucks at smash, he sucks at street fighter, he sucks at brawlhalla. ANY OF THOSE! Mostly cus his opponent is usually Bea (who is good at almost any video game), but even then i think it's very hard for him to beat a bot over level 3 😭

Dip IS a nerd. He still is into a lot of nerdy things. I think he probably is really into computer science and likes to see things break down and figure out how programs run and work and stuff. Kinda tie into his hobbies, i think he likes to go through code for fun and sometimes he messes around and makes tiny games. He also probably edits videos for fun as well!

Hello and welcome to another punk update.

First of all you’re probably asking why bother doing update posts on this blog? Well, this blog (supposedly) has almost 5k followers! I say that because no matter how many porn bots I block my follower count never goes down O.O

This is a post to talk about my personal goals for next year (probably not of much interest to you) and my goals for this blog for next year (may be of some interest to you).

First of all going forward I want to change the focus of this blog. I’ve made it clear here and there that this isn’t really a polyamory blog anymore because my polyamorous identity just isn’t a big part of who I am right now. I’m single, with no partners, and no real prospect of getting a partner any time soon, and quite honestly seeing people talk about how happy they are in their relationships is getting a little draining with my seasonal depression. I’m also busy with work and school and any free time I have is spent on my own projects (many of which relate to tumblr) or relaxing (taking time AWAY from tumblr).

Speaking of tumblr, I’ve discovered a wonderful community of streamers on tumblr! It’s honestly something I didn’t expect to find at all let alone right away. I think that a niche like this is something that might be good to fill the void I’m feeling right now, so I’m going to put more focus on trying to stream more on my main blog.

You might have noticed I called it “my main blog” vs “Savvy’s blog”. Another thing I’ve mentioned is that over the past year my sense of being plural has really diminished, to the point of being pretty much nonexistent. I’ve always assumed that splitting was due to social isolation I was feeling during Covid, but now that I work and go to school full time I don’t really have that social isolation anymore. The difference between whoever “Savvy” and “Punk” is is pretty much nonexistent right now. There are plenty of queer and non-queer people who use more than one name and more than one set of pronouns for whatever reason. We’ll be taking an approach more like that, focusing less on our systemhood and more on our genderfluid identity. You might see “we” still pop up vs “me” from time to time. It’s hard. But it’s reached the point where treating us like two separate entities is becoming more hassle than it’s worth. I’ll refer to myself as a girl or using she/her pronouns and people assume I’m a different person. We’re not. Etc. Obviously terfs consistently refer to us as she/her to try and “alienate” us which just… doesn’t work I’m literally a girl who uses she/her but okay… but also people will respectfully call us a man and stuff which I’m also not really a fan of… preferred terms are going to be more along the lines of “trans masc” or “masc presenting”…. things like “punk boy” or “punk dude” and less like “a trans punk Man™️”…. we’re a girl no we’re not eyes we are etc. etc. gender is meaningless. Feel free to use he/him or they/them still please here and she/her or they/them over on my main blog, but also don’t assume I’m “someone else” even if it is an alter if I’m using she/her for myself on here etc. is the tl;dr.

I’m going to try and stay out of dRaMa more. Obviously I say some things that kick the hornets nest and literally it’s a crapshoot whether I say something and everyone goes “I’m glad someone else finally said that” or it gets me a wave of angry terfs and trans people in my inbox calling me an assortment of things because if there’s one thing trans people and terfs can agree on it’s that I’m an abomination or something. Look I’m not delusional, I know that having a big blog on here comes with anon hate, but I can also at least make an attempt to minimize it. I’m also not delusional in knowing that I’m going to be scott-free and never post or say anything controversial ever again.

On that, I’ve also said before I don’t even like how much of a personal blog this has become where I just post things because I’m bored, but like, I am bored a LOT and I do not have any close friends to actually talk to on a day-to-day basis. I totally love when people send me asks or messages and say things like “if you ever need someone to talk to I’m here!” but I’m probably never going to put in the effort to seek out you and your blog when I feel like I need someone to talk to unless you message me like at least once a week. There is no one right now that I feel fully comfortable with talking to everyone and everything about and while that sucks and is fine I’m also not really looking for that on here. If you want to be tagged in stuff and get asks from me then totally start talking to me! I do try and tag the people who talk to me regularly but honestly ya’ll’s blogs like never come up when I do the @ thing and I’m like well rip but maybe I’ll try sending you posts then instead

With that in mind I’m really hoping to start making more of my own content! This is always an ongoing goal of mine but I have a hard time following through. I’m going to really start trying to push out products for the shop I feel like I didn’t have a choice but to have which I’ve now spent more on than I will ever make back in revenue but I’m considering adding an online Etsy to try and balance some of that. The online portion isn’t going to be my focus, there are so many local events around here that you can get a booth at that I would rather do, but basically I jus had too much stuff to throw away after my ex and I decided to disband our shop but not enough to warrant paying $50+ for a booth for, so I’ve been slowly collecting things to work on and sell in person including a button pin maker, so I might sell those and the 100+ bracelets I made for that asshole to fund his transition with online as well. That’s not a guarantee so I’m not going to say “keep an eye out for that”.

What I WILL say “keep an eye out for” is a giveaway for 5k followers and an upcoming playlist! The giveaway will start January 1st and end when I hit 5k followers! Standard rules of being ~16-18+ and needing to be comfortable giving me an address etc. will apply. The playlist will drop at some point. It is being worked on.

Well, I might be inheriting a blog. The person running it is having some issues and I’m the next logical person in line to take over, and I have gotten votes from the team to take over, but I think they are perhaps taking a mental health break or something because everyone went “let’s have [me] take over then!” and then it’s been radio silence since then.

Uh. My degree? I should be getting my AA next December.
