i feel like so many aroace people talk more about being ace and the aspec community generally seems to focus a lot more on asexuality. which is fine because everyone experiences things differently and its not like i want to pit aces and aros against each other or anything.

it just. makes me feel sort of strange as someone who is aroace but connects more to being aromantic. maybe it’s because i can enjoy sex but just don’t feel attraction? but idk if its even that i just feel like sex is such a non factor for me that being ace isn’t even really all that important to me??? idk how to explain it. if i say im aromantic and asexual people will always take the asexual part as the more memorable or more important label and its sort of frustrating. i feel like im aromantic first and asexual second, but it seems like most other people feel the opposite.

Aro culture is when I was a kid and I had no way to find out that I was aro, I gave myself RIDICULOUS labels. I'm so sorry, I know this is wrong, I confess, but I called myself "heterophobic but I don't like girls either", "non dater", "anti PDA" as a kid (teen, rather) My god what was that.

This post is a sign that you should take part in raising awareness. Even just popularizing the dang term helps. Help kids figure it out early. Prevent kids from doing the same dumb shit as I did. 😭😂😂

it reminds me of winter and summer and pushes me to continue through them

Hey just so we’re all aware, any sort of “gatekeeping” being asexual or aromantic is not allowed here. I will block you.

For one; it’s none of your business and if it isn’t hurting you hurting them or hurting anyone else don’t make it your business

For two: we have bigger issues then “oh but they have sex sometimes so they can’t be on the asexual SPECTRUM”

Also^2 there are some asexual and aromantic identities that I’m like “wtf is this” too but that doesn’t mean I’m a fucking exclusionary about it.
