There is a theory, a fairy tale about how mole is where the places where your past lovers frequently left a kiss. Ace thinks it's ridiculous, ridiculously "cringe" and ridiculously Sappy. Yet Ace out of all people knew it, no matter how much he denied.

This comes from one theory that is quite popular. Kantokusei is looped by someone's magic. Also the moles(?) The location is based on my own body HAHAHA I'm forcing myself to look at my own body while showering then i noticed I have quite a lot of beauty marks. I have no idea why I'm writing ngl very self indulgent.

Everyone got one or two moles on their body either its an easily visible area or more hidden one.

There is a tale, a bed time story, an old wives tales- how beauty mark is the place where your past lovers like to kiss.

Ridiculous, Ace thought it was ridiculous- nothing more nothing less, it's just a silly story.

Yet, when lying on the bed with her right by his sides, kantokusei is showing all her moles. The areas where he knew the best.

After all... There's no smoke without fire... All fairy tales come from somewhere that hold some sort of truth. And Ace out of all people knows this, tiny dots across kantokusei body, like an artist painting on his empty canvas.

Of course he knew, of course he remembered, he is the one that left those marks afterall.

Ace loves to tease kantokusei, he lives for her angry faces, the grumpy hufs and he loves when kantokusei sulk about it.

Call him sadist or anything, but lives for her angry pout quietly sulking refuse to admit her loss.

But it won't be long, Ace despite his words of being chosen is often very provocative, and when he wears that extremely annoying and punchable smirk, he has this charm that allows him to easily win people.

Ace:"Neeeee~ kantokusei, I'm sorry... Stop giving me a cold shoulder. I'm a very sensitive person you know?? "

Ace: " come on, it's been a while since we spent time together without anyone bothering us, are you sure you want to spend it like this??"

Ace: "I will give you a kiss, So can you stop sulking? I'm sorry okay..?? I will replace the pudding that I ate so yeah? Come on~"

Slowly Ace comes closer, purposely he misses her lips.

Ace:v" mm? I won't give it unless you forgive me~"

Ace is by no means a genius, but that doesn't make him a hardworking person either.

I mean studying is tiring you know?? All these numbers and names that he has to memorize??

The warmth from his girlfriend and the softness of the bed is not helping him at all.

Yet, his girlfriend is just annoyingly hardworking.

And Ace had enough, who studies when their boyfriend is right here?? Normal people already gave up 30 minutes ago right??? Yet why is his girlfriend still stubbornly refusing to rest?

If being whiny is not enough then times to plan B.

Ace: "kantokusei~ we have been studying for a while now... Let's take a nap?"

Ace: " It's very comfortable right now, we still have 2 days until the test. Let's take a nap?"

Running while it's pouring is really not a good idea. In Ace's defence, the planning part is usually done by Kantokusei, I mean there is a reason why Rook-senpai call Kantokusei "trickster".

And Kantokusei managed to trick Azul ffs of course he left the thinking part to her.

But Kantokusei is tired from thinking today, they just finished their magic history test after all, so Ace being a good boyfriend he is will help kantokusei do the thinking.

Doesn't mean it's a good idea- and now they are soaking.

Ace: Woah woah, aren't it a bit early to be seducing me?? Kantokusei so lewd~

Ace: now, now I'm not the problem here. You see many shirtless guys around here- Kantokusei you have to be careful you know? Men are wolves.

Ace Trappola can never take his eyes off this person, either from a sheer absurdity of some words that left her mouth, or to make sure this person didn't get in any unnecessary trouble, Ace can't avert his eyes from this person.

When they start dating, Ace finds out one thing about him that surprises even himself. He is clingy, and craves kantokusei's hand on his body and his hands on her body.

Either by secretly entwining their hand under their desk, to keep his hand on her shoulder, Ace needs some form of contact.

Now in all her glory, thighs exposed, Ace feels like a very deprived virgin. And not any languages or words can explain what possesses him to pin her on the sofa and bite kantokusei's thigh.

Ace is far from "boyfriend" materials in fact he is far from it. In fact people have said to him he has a very irritating personality and punchable face.

Ace is not a perfect boyfriend, every word that leaves his mouth can be irritating. Every time he speaks it very much has the potential to pissed some off.

Yet at this time when her tears drop on his hand, it sears his skin, every chocked sobs feels like a sword piercing his heart.

At times like this, Ace wishes he was good with words so he could stop those tears from flowing out of her eyes.

Instead, Ace left a faint kiss above her eyes, no Ace won't ask her to stop crying, Ace knows how frustrated it can be. Instead he hoped this clumsy action could bring some sort of comfort to her.

Again, it happens again. Smoke, fire, collapse building, aching all over his body, blood stained his hand and distant sounds of a monster growling. How many times has Ace seen this sight? How many times has he been through this.

He has to- he NEED to find her. Only kantokusei can calm that spoiled cat. Only kantokusei can stop that damn cat from throwing tantrums.

Ah, again and again and again and again and again. Ace is sick seeing this view. Red everything is red.

Ace thinks red suits her, but not this kind of red. The jam from the unbirthday party tart, the red roses where they painted it together, the red mark Ace put on her face as a joke to make them match.

Ace thinks red suits her because red is his signature color. But this, Ace feels like he's gonna throw up.

Ah but he did throw up didn't he? The first few times he saw this sight.

Again he failed, again and again and again. Just what does he have to do?? Grim's rampage will be stopped later, he knows, just how many times do you think he has been through this. That's good right? A monster is defeated by a knight, that's how a fairy tale goes right?? That's when they reach their happy ending right??

Ace is selfish, he won't let this world have their happy ending without her, even if it means having to go through this hell a few hundred times more.

[name]: "Ace..."

Ace: "hey, dont talk, save your energy"

[name] : "Ace, grim... "

Ace: " worry about yourself right now"

[name]: "Ace....? What are you doing..?"

Ace: "sorry, forgive me. I'm so sorry. Let's meet again later okay? In front of the Great Seven statue remember? We always meet there"

And so with a kiss on her palm. A promise, an oath.

Ace think the world can go fuck themselves.

If it means going through this hundreds or even thousands times so he can achieve the ending where both her and the world save that he will do it.

To answer your question: not sure! I’d say that he just refused him for 1000th time, but Azul is surprisingly good at handling rejection from Jamil (it’s his “sure sure, keep playing hard to get” mentality). But then again, maybe Jamil really was too harsh this time…

Out of curiosity, were any of your other drawings inspired by asks you received?

To be honest, I can’t remember anything major… But I am very bad at remembering my own drawings, so maybe it’s just my memory thing.

Sometimes I get carried away when I write a reply and start thinking “damn this sounds fun” and then months later end up drawing it, completely forgetting that it was a hc from a list or something like that…

But also sometimes I draw a new ship and start remembering how Anon asked about this ship ages ago and I replied “nah don’t ship them” or “nothing against it but we don’t care much” back then lol I think it happened with Ace/Riddle and Trey/Vil, for example.

Also oof, good question. I feel like Ortho would definitely feel like this is how people feel about him, like they would be nice to him and all, but him being worse than Idia is such a huge elephant in the room that no one could realistically ignore. There could probably be some people in S.T.Y.X. who genuinely blame Ortho for what’s happened with their precious prodigy, but the overall consensus would probably be that this was an accident, Ortho was still very young, and that they shouldn’t blame him. This is partially because Ortho is seemingly everyone’s little sunshine, and people would probably feel bad for him.

But! Once again, Ortho would absolutely feel like they just don’t truthfully express how they really feel about him. To him it’s 100% objective truth: it should’ve been him, and everyone knows that even if they act like they don’t agree. He doesn’t have as much to offer as Idia did and he can’t achieve half of the things Idia could have…

The angst just keeps getting more and more potent huh

Epel is a very good victim for such a scenario; even know he knows that he shouldn’t do it, somehow he ends up fucking around and finding out… so the tweels could definitely play with him.  He would be a delightful little toy~

But when it comes to Azul, I feel like he would only be present if the whole thing was his idea initially + he is very interested in the victim. Otherwise to him it’s just his rabid hounds terrorizing a piece of meat to keep themselves entertained. It’s mostly their own business I think 🤔

Got more Fortune (Yuu) in Twisted Wonderland under the cut cause the Twst brainrot is real lol 😂

Right now, I’m thinking about those final exams that everyone takes in book 3 and what Yuu did to prepare for them. 

In a previous post, I mentioned that Yuu did well since she has always been the type to do well academically. However, in this scenario, she wouldn’t have done well just through sheer book smarts.

That’s because she’s dealing with so many new subjects that she has zero experience with. Being magicless puts her at a real disadvantage compared to everyone else.

As a result, Yuu has to work her butt off to do well at NRC. She’s always very attentive in class and takes good notes, always does her homework, and studies like crazy for tests.

Thanks to her hardworker mindset and all the time she’s willing to put into her studies, Yuu does pretty well for someone who’s a total newb in comparison to everyone else, so she never really has to worry about failing anything.

She also does rather well with Vargas’s flight class, even though she obviously can fly without magic, since she can handle running laps thanks to her great stamina. While she’s not an expert at all forms of exercise (she sucks at pull-ups and sit-ups thanks to her zero upper body strength lol), she’s able to get by overall and earn Vargas’s approval. 

Vargas likes that she has some muscles on her, but he thinks she could use some more so he’s all about encouraging her to get more buff which she’s not really opposed to since being more muscular would be to her advantage in an environment where all she can rely on to protect herself are her two fists and her Quirk.

(All of the staff members end up taking a strong liking to Yuu since she’s a good, hardworking student that never gives them any trouble. No one was too fond of the idea of a magicless girl being stuck in an all boys’ school, but since there really wasn’t anything else that could be done with her, they just do their best to look out for her when they can.)

Going back to Yuu’s studies, she does well enough that she doesn’t have to worry about failing, but she isn’t satisfied with just passing. She wants to do the best she can because being under Tokumei’s tutelage and always trying and failing to impress him with her great grades led to her becoming an overachiever. 

Plus, since she’s a two-in-one student with Grim, Yuu is worried about how the grading will be done for them. While they both have to take the exams separately, it’s possible the grades will be all rolled into one, and since Grim does so poorly with his studies, Yuu feels it’s her responsibility to make the best possible grades to keep the two of them afloat.

That’s why Yuu works extra hard when she’s studying for final exams. She also tries to get Grim/Ace/Deuce to do the same but isn’t very successful. (cause the idiots went and made a contract with Azul lol)

After countless failed attempts to get the idiot trio to study, Yuu gives up and assumes that she’ll be stuck helping them with last minute cramming, so she should just focus on herself so that she’ll be ready when they finally start asking for help.

This doesn’t mean that Yuu ends up doing all her studying alone, however. That’s because Yuu is a very smart girl who knows how to use her resources wisely.

Whenever Yuu has any trouble with a subject, Yuu goes to an upperclassmen she knows and asks them for help. Obviously, because this is NRC, these guys aren’t all going to just help out of the goodness of their heart, which Yuu totally expects, which is why she is ready and willing to bribe them if necessary lol

In the case of Riddle, Trey, & Cater, Yuu doesn’t really need to bribe them. Riddle helps her because he approves of anyone willingly trying to improve themselves, and he basically sees her as his responsibility cause of her help with his Overblot and all the other things she has done for his dorm.

That’s why Trey helps her out as well and cause he just feels pity for everything she goes through cause of Ace & Deuce lol However, I could see him having her help him around the kitchen as a form of payment, even though he doesn’t really make her do a lot.

Cater helps Yuu out in exchange for allowing him to keep the picture he unconsciously took of her when she was unintentionally using the puppy dog eyes on the three upperclassmen while she was asking them to help her with her studies lol 😂

The use of bribes really comes into play with Savanaclaw cause Ruggie doesn’t do anything for free. Thankfully, he’s easy enough to convince. Give him food, and he’ll give whatever study tips he has available lol

Leona is tougher to deal with, but eventually, Yuu manages to wear him down with promises of steak, chess, and anything else she can think of along with lots of compliments about his intellect lol He mostly gives in to get her to leave him alone but also cause he’s got a little soft spot for her, not that he’d ever admit it haha

Kalim & Jamil end up helping Yuu when Kalim spots her in the library and approaches her. Kalim is all too eager to help when she asks for pointers, but in the end, it’s mostly Jamil that does the helping, which he does since he knows Kalim won’t let the two of them leave without helping her.

During one of her nighttime teatime chats with Malleus, Yuu gets the idea of asking for his advice since he seems very smart. He’s very surprised since he’s not used to anyone asking for his help like this and might even say as much, which surprises her since he’s so nice and easy to talk to.

Malleus ends up being a big help during their little impromptu study session and even goes a step further by later preparing some notes for Yuu which he asks Lilia to pass along to Yuu the next day.

(I just really love the thought of Malleus being really happy about being depended on by Yuu like this and her thinking he’s easy to talk to. He’d probably soak up all the positive attention she gives him during their study time like a sponge. I love these two positive attention-starved cuties so much 😭)

Malleus’s desire to further help Yuu leads to Lilia and Silver lending her a hand with her studies since they both came to deliver the notes on behalf of “Tsunotarou”. 

Lilia wants to help her out as thanks for making Malleus so happy, and he brings Silver, who also wants to help once he hears the whole story, along for the ride.

They’re both helpful with giving out pointers/advice, although Silver ends up falling asleep at one point. Thankfully, Yuu has some mint-flavored gum which she shares with him to help keep him awake.

At this point, Yuu has gotten a lot of help, more than she expected, so she intends to stop actively seeking study help since she’s already gotten so much good help and she doesn’t wanna bother the upperclassmen she’s already studied with further. 

Her plans of not seeking more help end up changing when Floyd happens upon her one day and snatches her up, demanding that she do something fun with him. 

Initially, she’s very reluctant since there’s no telling what Floyd will have her do and just how long he’ll make her his current source of entertainment. 

Of course, she also doesn’t want to put Floyd in a bad mood. While she can handle his usual squeezes, she doesn’t wanna find out just how strong they can become lol

This leads to Yuu making a deal with Floyd. In exchange for entertaining him, she wants him to provide some study advice/pointers since she has heard about him being a genius, even if it all depends on his mood. She’s hoping that by putting him in a good mood that he’ll be very helpful with studying.

Floyd’s amused since she’s sounding like Azul by wanting to make a deal with him. He’s also confused by why she doesn’t just make a deal with Azul to get his special study notes.

Yuu explains that she wants to get good grades by her own efforts. Yes, she’s willing to seek out others for help, but she has no intention to make anyone do the work for her. She doesn’t want Azul’s notes that she knows will guarantee her a good grade.

In the end, Floyd accepts the deal since he wants to play with her, and that’s what they do for the next several hours, much to Yuu’s internal distress lol

Even with her good stamina, Yuu is exhausted by the time Floyd has had his fill of entertainment, which ranged from basketball to every other activity under the sun that he could think of.

However, she’s not so exhausted that she forgets about having him uphold his end of the deal, and since he’s in a good mood by this point, he doesn’t mind helping her out.

Of course, this doesn’t stop Floyd from wanting more entertainment, so to keep himself from getting bored, he picks Yuu up and plops her into his lap so he can squeeze and poke her the whole time he’s going over the study materials lol

At this point, Yuu’s too tired to really care. Plus, him bracing her keeps her tired body from falling over, and his actions actually keep her from getting distracted since they keep her alert when she’d normally be pretty lethargic after everything he put her through.

All in all, it’s a somewhat productive study session. Yuu still thinks Floyd got the better end of the deal, but it’s not like nothing good came out of it so she won’t complain, especially when Floyd’s wearing quite the big grin when they finally part ways.

The encounter with Floyd leads Yuu to wondering if she should try to approach Jade for advice too since he seems like the type who does well with his studies.

Obviously, like his brother, Jade wouldn’t just do this for free, so Yuu would need to have something to give him in exchange.

Which leads to Yuu coming up with the idea of harvesting some wild mushrooms since she knows how much Jade likes them. Having heard from Jade about his exploits in the Mountain Lovers Club, Yuu knows about the mountain near NRC, which is where he goes to collect mushrooms, which is where she decides to head.

Since there could be wild animals there, Yuu decides to ask Jack to accompany her for protection purposes. Plus, she thought she could make this into a training exercise for herself since it involves hiking, and she figured Jack might be interested. 

In the end, Jack agrees since, while he won’t outright admit it, he doesn’t want her going up the mountain on her own, which is what would happen since Grim/Ace/Deuce have no interest in accompanying her even after she offered to share her study notes with them.

Much to her surprise, Jack invited Epel to join the two of them since he figured Epel would enjoy this kind of activity. Plus, since Yuu is willing to share her notes with whoever helps her, Jack thought Epel would jump on that opportunity.

(Jack was right on all counts, but what he didn’t expect was Epel to show up at the meeting spot excited at the prospect of fighting off wild animals lol 😂)

This is Yuu’s first time really interacting with Epel since they’re not in the same class. She doesn’t mind him being there, though, since the more help with mushroom picking she gets, the better.

One of her first thoughts upon seeing him is how pretty he is, but she quickly gets distracted from that train of thought by Epel’s enthusiasm about fighting off wild animals which he for some reason thought was one of the main goals of this excursion lol

Thanks to that, Yuu realizes he is a good example of don’t judge a book by its cover. While it’s not obvious just from looking at him, Epel has a rowdy side to him and is more manly than he looks.

Since Yuu is familiar with dealing with those kinds of guys, she doesn’t have much difficulty interacting with Epel, and they end up hitting it off pretty well since Epel likes that she treats him like a regular guy and doesn’t bring any attention to his pretty looks.

Thanks to Epel & Jack, the mushroom hunting trip is successful, even though there were some bumps along the way. Because they were so helpful, Yuu promises to share all her notes with them, not just whatever she gets out of Jade, which is what they were initially expecting, so they end up making plans to hold study groups together, which ends up happening throughout the remainder of the time leading up to final exams.

When it comes time to approach Jade, Yuu goes to the Mostro Lounge and presents what she refers to as an offering, much to his amusement. His amusement turns into delight when he sees the large of array of mushrooms she, Epel, & Jack managed to find.

Since he’s clearly pleased with the offering, Yuu asks Jade for study help, and he agrees, both because of the offering and because he heard from Floyd how much fun he had with her the other day which piqued his interest.

While he has her take a seat in the lounge, Jade goes to put away the mushrooms and prepare some tea for them. Not long after Jade leaves, she hears a yell of dismay coming from the kitchen which signals that Floyd has seen the present she brought for Jade, which leads to her internally apologizing to Floyd lol 😂

At this point, the Mostro Lounge isn’t officially open yet. Yuu got in since she works part-time there, so as a result, Jade is able to dedicate some time to her since he doesn’t have any other work matters he needs to attend to at the moment.

Floyd ends up joining them cause he wants to complain about the mushrooms and mess with Yuu in retribution lol

Eventually, Azul shows up on the scene, which leads to him finding out what Yuu has been up to. As expected, he’s quick to bring up his amazing study guide, but Yuu politely declines and gives him the same explanation she gave Floyd.

Azul accepts her reasoning but looks noticeably displeased, which, to her, makes sense considering he’s all about making deals. 

What she doesn’t realize is that he’s quietly sulking over the fact that he’s now the only one she hasn’t asked for help which bothers him more than he’d like to admit lol

Jade & Floyd realize this immediately and have no issue with exposing him. Azul adamantly denies their claims, but Yuu gets the feeling he’s not being completely honest, considering how flustered he now is. 

Plus, she can understand why he would feel left out if he was the only one she didn’t ask for help, so she apologizes for that since it wasn’t her intention to be mean/rude. She just doesn’t want to ask for help if it means signing a contract/giving up money/having someone else do all the work for her.

At that moment, Yuu takes notice of how tired Azul looks and gets the idea of offering to let him using her magic lap pillow in exchange for his help with her studies.

(Like in TABF, Yuu’s lap pillow has the power to put just about anyone to sleep within seconds once they lay their head down. Floyd was the first person to discover this secret ability of hers, and it was entirely by accident. He had just plopped into her lap and almost immediately dozed off. He quickly pulled away from her once he realized what was happening, thinking sleeping magic was somehow being used, but once he realized that wasn’t the case and having reconfirmed that Yuu can’t use magic, Floyd ended up plopping back down cause her lap’s comfy and fell asleep lol

While Jade found the whole situation very amusing, Azul was less than thrilled with this turn of events since this could basically be considered sexual harassment which would not look good for business. He tried to get Yuu to sign a NDA to ensure that she wouldn’t make any reports about this to Crowley, and she almost agreed, since she really didn’t see this as sexual harassment, before realizing she should try to get something in exchange.

In the end, in exchange for promising to not make any sexual harassment reports against the Mostro Lounge, Yuu asked for Azul’s written agreement that she would be protected from sexual harassment and physical harm at the hands of the students of his dorm since a girl in her situation needs all the protection she can get. Plus, thanks to this, she felt more comfortable about asking for a part-time job at the lounge, which really caught Azul off guard lol)

After hearing Yuu’s offer, Azul splutters and turns bright red much to Jade and Floyd’s delight. They are enjoying every minute of his embarrassment.

Since Azul vehemently refuses her lap pillow as a form of payment, Yuu asks what else she could offer in exchange for his advice that wouldn’t involve paying him/signing a contract.

In the end, Azul probably has her help clean up the lounge or some other task that would benefit him but not greatly inconvenience her. He does this, claiming he’s feeling generous and inspired by his underclassman’s thirst for knowledge, but the twins know that he just doesn’t want to be the only one whom Yuu didn’t rely on since it’s a stab at his pride lol

(By this point in time, Yuu hasn’t really interacted with Ortho and the upperclassmen in Pomefiore and Ignihyde, so she wouldn’t have gotten any help from them. That’s why I won’t include them in this scenario.)

Thanks to all the help she received, Yuu ends up doing very well with her exams. She might have even gotten into the top fifty, considering all the expert advice she received, but if she did, she would’ve been near the very bottom of the ranking.

All in all, it’s a very productive exam period. Unfortunately, Yuu doesn’t get to bask in her great accomplishment for long thanks to a certain idiot trio who gets themselves into trouble that she has to bail them out of lol

⛓Notes: This is another series I'm starting since the headcanons will be short! I hope everyone enjoys!

⛓Floyd Leech⛓

Floyd could be a very annoying desk partner. It depends on the mood, though. You honestly prefer the annoying side of Floyd. Bad mood Floyd is either sulking, or too annoyed to do anything.

Bad mood Floyd is pretty rare though, around you at least! Laying his head down on his desk, Floyd loves talking to you, and no, he is not whispering in the slightest. He doesn't care about Trein, if he's being honest here. If you tell him to be quiet, he'll stop for a moment.

Now he's throwing notes at you. You want him to keep silent, fine, Floyd still wants to have his fun with you. The notes consists of poorly drawn figures of you and Floyd holding hands. Also he draws a doodle of you keeping him on a leash?? You're gonna ask him about that one later.

"Psst, Shrimpy~I'm bored, keep a conversation going with me, please?" His voice is sickly sweet, yet his intentions are horrible, Trein is glaring at him from his desk already. You both get after school detention. On the bright side, Floyd would've ditched detention if it weren't for you being there!

⛓Ace Trappola⛓

Like Floyd, Ace could either be the most annoying seatmate, or the best, there's no inbetween. Having Ace sit next to you makes things less boring, especially in history, Trein's voice really does put people to sleep!

Sitting next to Ace does bring trouble, though. Sometimes his whispers are so loud?? Like is he even trying at this point? Not that it isn't cute, because he is, leaning into your side "whispering" about how badly he wants to ditch, and go to lunch with you already.

To entertain himself, and to impress you...he juggles erasers, and pencils, repeatedly calling you over to look at him. If you ignore him, he'll feel betrayed. Yes you two get into plenty after school detention. Thank the Great Seven that you don't have to deal with Riddle's scolding as much as Ace has to.

Ace likes flicking things at you, it's his way of flirting, okay? It starts a little fight, you both start flicking small pieces of paper, and candies at each other, then it becomes a complete war. Erasers and pencils are thrown at each other's heads. Don't worry though, you grip Ace's hand to stop this madness already before you get caught by Trein. You two hold hands under the desks then.

⛓Kalim Al-Asim⛓

Kalim is a very relatable seatmate, he doesn't have a clue what's going on in this class, but he'll act like he does. You also have not even the slighest idea of what most of these terms mean that Crewel keeps stating. Yeah, you're both pretty dumb.

Kalim brings little snacks, and he'll gladly share with you! One day he actually brought his leftovers from a party the day before to class?? Crewel kicked him out immediately. Poor Kalim, he took one for the team. He'll also get really shy and ask you if you want to feed him? Shyness goes away asap though if you agree to it!

Kalim knows you're new to this world, and wants to help you around as much as possible, you're his deskmate, and partner in his class. He'll go to Jamil the same day after class ends, and ask for help so he can bring more notes to you the next day!

Kalim makes these tiny jokes about not knowing what's going on with this potion, and he laughs so loud, the teacher side eyes him. He's relieved when he gets a laugh out of you though, he loves to see you happy, especially if he's the cause.

The potion you two create in class one day causes a mini explosion. Kalim never hears the end of it from Jamil.

⛓Azul Ashengrotto⛓

Azul is probably one of the better students to sit next to in class. Did he tell you how good he is at potionology? He'll give you a rundown of the basics for a price, of course. You may even get it out of him for free, just keep quiet about it.

Azul isn't an annoying deskmate, Jamil would disagree, but this isn't about him. Instead of Azul doing all of the whispering, and talking, that's all on you. Flirting with him is so fun, it's so onesided too because he's so red, and silent. Can't look you in the eyes after your teasing, he twirls his little curl with his finger.

Having Azul as a partner is an automatic A+, so why not play around with him a little? Jamil can't stand your flirting, calls you gross for sure. Is even more annoyed with the way Azul stutters, and mentally breaksdown from your compliments.

Azul always reminds you of safety procedures first, he'd love to help you put your goggles on, if you'd let him, of course.. Tell him how good he did on the project, he may just shyly invite you to a free meal at the Lounge.

Trey

·       Study dates with Trey are very rare

·       He’s always busy due to his responsibilities as vice dorm leader while preparing to becoming a 4th year, so going on dates with you in general isn’t going to happen a lot

·       When you do end up going on with him though, he would cherish them and try to make it last as long as possible, trying to catch up on all the missed times with you

·       Usually, the study dates happen by Cater (best wingman ever by the way), who ends up stealing Ace, Deuce, and Grim from you on the days you’re supposed to study with them

·       Whenever that happens, Trey gets a message with a “U owe me~ ;9” from Cater as said guy drags the “interference” away

·       Trey: Cater, you shouldn’t be calling our underclassmen interference... Cater: Eh~ So, are you saying you don’t feel annoyed that they’re spending more time with you-know-who? Trey: …You don’t see me saying it up front now do you

·       He would do his best to help you study, teaching you whatever you needed to know  - tips, tricks, what topic that would be covered the most on the exam, etc

·       Would he try to make you flustered and blush though? Yeah. He thinks you’re adorable when you blush – endearing, cute, someone he wishes to cherish with all his heart

·       It’s why he would make passes on you, leaning towards you and brushing shoulders when he sits next to you as he helps explain something you don’t know or purposely having his hand graze yours as he points out something in the textbook or your notes

·       Expect to be spoiled with all types of sweets and desserts when with Trey

·       Cake? Cookies? Pudding? He would bring all sorts of things for you two to snack on when taking a break and studying, including tea. After all, you’re someone he happens to love so he has to somehow make it obvious one way or another

·       Trey has younger siblings. It’s why he naturally wipes the crumbs off your face since it’s habit to do so. Yeah. That’s it. Totally not

·       What isn’t natural is when, near the end of the study date, you would either hug or kiss him on the cheek, after finally understanding something or making progress, as thanks

·       Covering half of his face, he would turn his face away to hide his red face that could rival Riddle’s hair, trying to tell you he was fine with a small stutter and wavering smile when you ask if he’s okay

·       Now if only you would realize said study dates were actually dates and he likes you…

     Ruggie

·       Like Trey, Ruggie is a busy man. Busy doing Leona’s orders while chasing after all the money and food he could possibly get, so having study dates with him are also rare

·       In fact, the percent of having study dates with him are lower than Trey’s because of how much work he’ll be forced to deal with

·       It’s why, the only times he would be able to go on study dates with you are when you come visit Savanaclaw once every blue moon

·       Most often you would come over because of Jack, whether it’s to just hang out, give him a memo, whatnot

·       The thing is though, whenever you come over, you end up meeting Jack a bit later because something would always come up right when he’s about to meet you

·       And it’s totally not suspicious that it happens whenever Ruggie is coming back to the dorms. 100% true.

·       Don’t worry about Jack by the way. It so happens that a certain dorm leader kidnapped said wolf because he happens to be a good wingman when he’s bored

·       Also, he’s running low on blackmail on Ruggie. Might as well get a refill when he can

·       When seeing you alone at the entrance either being bothered by the other dorm members or looking bored, Ruggie ends up taking you to the lounge and chat with you

·       The conversation always  school orientated with school work and teachers coming up

·       While you’re in the middle of complaining about Trein and Crewel again over their ridiculous assignments (like seriously, what’s so important about hair-color changing potions again? And what about the history of the school’s chandelier, is this shade???), Ruggie teases you about not being able to do something “as easy as that”

·       He does his best to hide his soft side towards you when you sulk about it, seeing it as you pouting. Which is adorable and cute in his eyes and he loves  seeing it

·       Just as you’re about to get up and leave from getting annoyed, Ruggie quickly offers you his help on your assignments despite saying it in a teasing tone

·       Yes, he likes to troll with people a lot but he can be serious when he wants to, evidently seen when he helps you through the questions

·       His explanations aren’t great, yet he doesn’t give up trying to get you to understand and solve the questions

·       Will he tease you while explaining? Yes. Will he snicker at you and give his infamous infuriating cute smirk? Yes.

·       In the end, the assignment still gets done along with you feeling better with the concepts you weren’t so sure of thanks to him

·       It’s his turn to blush as you give him a surprise hug, ending up covering his face with both hands and sigh once you let go

·       As this happens, a certain lion continues to film the whole thing while covering the mouth of his “precious” kouhai with a smirk on his face. He’s not sorry when he shows it to Ruggie by the way.

  Jade

·       Having study dates with Jade happens more frequently than Ruggie and Trey’s solely because Jade would make sure he has one with you

·       By that, he means using the pretext of having to “tutor” you per request by one of the staffs to get to go on one with you

·       He will proudly say it’s his favorite excuse to use against Azul and Floyd since they wouldn’t be able to bother him nor interfere when he’s trying to spend some time with you

·       Yes, he enjoys hanging around them for entertainment but he has his own limits too. Plus, he wouldn’t have to use….some other methods to get them off his back though he wouldn’t hesitate to do so if they interfere (cough blackmail cough)

·       Studying with Jade is difficult no thanks to how much he enjoys teasing you

·       He’ll be kind, polite, and courteous but he’ll do everything he can to get to see you blush

·       Brushing shoulders and hands “incidentally” is nothing compared to the times he explicitly makes a move on you like gently cupping your hand whenever he takes your pencil so he could write some helpful notes in your notebook or sitting really close to you in general

·       The worst part is how he’s actually good at teaching you with whatever you’re struggling with

·       Makes good analogies, explains things thorough enough for you to grasp the foundation, surprisingly writes neatly and draw good diagrams – he truly lives up to his position as one of Azul’s hands and vice dorm leader

·       That along with the fact he would be providing hospitability such as teas and snacks that you enjoy definitely makes him seem like a kind gentleman

·       He enjoys teasing you during the whole time, having fun with your reactions his favorite other than seeing you blush being you being annoyed

·       Just needs to shade here and there to get a good grasp and push your buttons only to get amused in the end from seeing you huff and pout or chuckle at any smart remarks you make towards him

·       However, when you give him one your softest, genuine smile or initiate any physical contact yourself, it’s going to be his turn to blush and perhaps even tsun a bit

·       Will go wide eyes at first with cheeks dust pink to turning lobster-red if you point it out while covering half his face and look away a bit

·       Hugging is a whole different story though where you would be very successfully into getting Jade to go “Jade. exe has stopped working” after surprising him with one once you finally understand and get whatever you were confused with and do it out of happiness

·       Once the date ends, he’ll show you out before going back into the dorm and find Azul and Floyd who he knew was spying during the whole thing

·       He finds all the photos they took of him blushing and either would burn them or delete the files if saved on phone or PC

·       He does secretly keep the ones that includes you looking happy or being close to him

   Jamil

·       Study dates with Jamil happens a good amount of time thanks to Kalim who makes sure it happens

·       By that, literally Kalim would get everyone in Scarabia to help out but that’s another story for another time

·       Out of all the vice dorm leaders, he’s the one that takes the study date seriously

·       Wouldn’t really strike up a conversation because he would be focused on trying to get as much done as possible no thanks to how he’s busy in general

·       That being said, most of the time would be more studying orientated

·       Jamil would be attentive and help you with anything you need help with, going over them and making sure you get at least the foundations solid

·       His explanation and tutoring skills are nearly par to Trey’s probably because of his many years of experience with Kalim, his sibling, and now, the other dorm members

·       So, the idea of teasing you wouldn’t come up initially. Keyword: Initially

·       Just because he’s focused on studying doesn’t mean he isn’t aware of his surroundings and other’s behaviors, especially yours

·       He’s aware his attraction towards you is very much mutual since he practically caught you who-knows-how-many-times you looked at him, only to blush and stutter whenever he asks if there’s a problem

·       Cue the teasing like the rest but unlike the other three above, his is more subtle

·       He’ll be testing the water-  see how far he can go with teasing you

·       He honestly enjoys how you’re trying to keep a straight face, all cool and collected when he sits next to you to the point only a pencil case would slip through the space between you two

·       Acting innocent and nonchalant, Jamil struggles to not smirk when he sees your ears turn red and the corner of your lips twitch

·       Totally would pull “face too close for comfort” on you when he finds you getting distracted from whatever he explains something to you

·       It would only happen once and never again though during the next few study dates since he’ll realize he nearly lost his self-control when he unconsciously and nearly closed the gap between the two of you

·       What do you mean you heard him click his tongue? He did no such thing. It’s not like he was disappointed or anything because he wanted to-

·       When you hug him, he’s not going to be calm. Whatsoever

·       Pulls his head over his head and tells you not to come near him as he pulls his hoodie’s strings and try to cover his face completely

·       This is when Kalim comes out of his hiding place and tries to get Jamil to calm down while telling you that he was “just passing by” when you ask where he came from

·       It isn’t until he’s back at his room does he start calming down only to drag his hands down his face from realizing he messed up on trying to look cool around you

·       Kalim: You like them that badly, huh~ Jamil: Shut up

 Rook

·       Study dates with Rook is bad for your heart. Not because he does weird things to you or anything. It’s just that…he’s rather direct. Very direct

·       Although he does an excellent job teaching you, he doesn’t hide his attraction towards you at all

·       Calls you all sorts of endearment without any shame when you come over to Pomefiore to have the study date with him: mon cœur, mon chéri, mamour, and more

·       Like with everyone else he takes interests in, he very much likes to look at you. Even though it’ll distract you, he’s genuinely happy and in bliss getting to spend time with you

·       To him, getting to see the you studying with such calmness makes him think you look absolutely enchanting, loving to see you putting effort and trying your best

·       Despite being a hunter, he isn’t aware how you tend to look at him when he’s focused though nor does he know that you like seeing his serious side

·       …and you probably shouldn’t since the minute he realizes this he probably would take advantage of it and cause you more problems down the road

·       He spoils you a lot, mostly because he wishes to see you happy. Meaning, he would prepare all sorts of things to make sure you’re feeling comfy and happy when you’re with him

·       In all seriousness though, he does education justice when he’s the one tutoring/teaching you

·       Goes over everything thoroughly to the point where he would continue practicing and quizzing you until he knows you actually understand everything

·       Every time you get something right, he praises you a lot to the point you would probably feel bashful

·       When you’re feeling down or frustrated from the fact you can’t understand something or from anything in general, Rook is the one who’ll realize it first which often leads to him being the one to make you feel better in a short amount of time through words of encouragement

·       In fact, he’s one of the two people who would be the best comforter of the vice dorm leaders

·       By that, he’s the one you would probably pour your heart to without worries and end up feeling better after every single study date

·       Hugging can go two ways with Rook

·       When he senses you about to hug him (happens 90% of the time btw), he’ll hug you back with the same amount of excitement. He wouldn’t let go after you realize what you’ve done out of pure instinct and would instead hug you tighter while your face burns in his arms

·       When you catch him off guard, he’ll freeze and blush, completely not expecting it. Probably would be his first time ever getting flustered too as he tries to quickly recover once you let go of him

      Lilia

·       Study dates with Lilia is more like a hang out than anything else

·       He literally will pull the “immortal-being” card, where he’ll look over your shoulder and see what you’re doing before going on a long story-time telling of how each theorem, principle, historical event, etc. was discovered when he was whatever age-old at the time

·       When dealing with assignments, he would complain about doing them, muttering along the lines of “back when I was in school, we didn’t have to do these”, “kids aren’t going to even use what they learned in real life”, and so on

·       Don’t expect him to even attempt to study. He would ask you why he would ever need to when he lived who-knows-how many years and being at all those events that took place

·       With all of that being said, you would think it would be impossible to get anything done, doing a great job distracting you especially when he just name drops a famous historical person and tells you the guy/gal’s life from baby to adult all in one go

·       “That kid used to be so cute, as expected they would end up being this great”, “What’s this nonsense? How did that brat even did that when they couldn’t even answer 1+1 correctly”-

·       However, when you try to study and start struggling, he would always help you

·       There’s going to be teasing and he is very bold about it

·       When you stifle a laugh from his stories, he sulks first only to kabedon you in your chair

·       Leaning closer to you, he’ll ask whether you’ll take him seriousness now, gently holding your chin so you wouldn’t be able to look away

·       He does end up letting you go with a smirk, giving you some space and time to get over what had happened in less than a minute, thinking that you looking like a deer caught in headlights with a bright blush made you look extremely adorable

·       It’s not shocking that he teaches you well, especially when he’s the one that taught Sebek, Silver, and Malleus. How? He’ll never tell you how but the look their faces when you ask them makes you decide not to think about it further

·       Lilia also happens to be the other greatest comforter, probably even better than Rook

·       It’s because he raised three children on his own, he’s able to pick up any stress or sense the struggle you’re having when you do your assignments or studying before you say anything about it

·       When it happens, he has you take a break on studying and lends you an ear, making sure you say everything that’s in your chest since he knows you’ll be needing it

·       By the time he’s done helping you and you hug him out of gratefulness, he’ll be surprised and widen his eyes at first

·       He does quickly recover and hugs you back with a satisfied smile, rather seeing you happy and filled with joy than anything else

·       And it’s obvious that’s the case since once you leave, Malleus, Silver, and Sebek would ask him if anything good happened

At first he questioned why they seemed so anxious around him until he learned the reason behind their behaviour

His past experience with his ex probably gives them more reason to be anxious, which he feels guilty for

He’s much softer with his s/o, something that the other first years and dorm members tease him for

He’s typically too focused on spoiling his s/o to get too upset about it, or maybe he retaliates smoothly (which rarely happens)

He’s a litle embarrassed intially, but he tries to validate his s/o as often as possible. He’d be clumsy about it sometimes (not the best choice of words but he’s trying)

He might also try to help solve the root problem behind their need for constant validation* (purely based on the fact that he lowkey gives good advice, see ch 1 and ghost marriage)

He’d probably drop a few compliments here and there; little details in their appearance that he could tell they put effort into, appreciating them when they help him out with his duties at Heartslabyul, etc.

If he’s daring enough, he might hold their hand and give them little kisses on their face as he reassures them. Maybe he’ll embarrass them with some pet names if he’s in the mood to tease them a bit (as gently as possible, for Ace’s standards anyway). As long as his s/o feels validated, he’d be willing to try anything, except anything too embarrassing

In private, he might have whole sessions devoted to listing good points of his s/o until they’re too embarrassed to keep listening

He’s nervous about whether he can give them the validation they need, but he definitely tries his best

Floyd Leech

Floyd’s pretty hard to write. I personally think he’d be both the best and worst among the three at reassurance

Obviously, he adores his shrimpy, and he’s not afraid to make that publicly known. He got no shame in proclaiming exactly what he loves about his s/o

He might come off as a little too casual when he reassures his s/o, but he’ll probably show his serious side once in a while

Some squeezing (read: hugs), but maybe too much squeezing sometimes (read: what he usually does/threatens to do)

While he’d light up at the sight of his s/o on normal occasions, I feel like he could also easily undo a fair amount of his own work when he’s had a really bad day

He may accidentally snap at them if he’s in a particularly foul mood, when even the sight of his favourite shrimpy can’t cheer him up

He’d sulk for a while until he realises that he screwed up when his s/o becomes scared of him, and not in a good way

He’ll definitely try to make it up to them later though, like small (thoughtful?) gifts, constant hugs and cuddles, perhaps forcefully helping his s/o with things

Maybe even consult Azul and Jade for advice if he’s desperate enough (provided that they haven’t pointed out the fact that demanding forgiveness from his s/o is not the way to go)

At the end of the day, he’ll make it loud and clear that s/o has all his love~~

Lilia Vanrouge

Lilia would probably be the best at reassuring and validating his s/o

Even if he hadn’t exactly had a lover like his s/o, I feel like he’s probably seen enough over the years to have a general idea of how he can reassure his s/o

Late night talks where Lilia reassures his s/o after listening to them vent about their insecurities

Would probably be pretty embarrassing when giving validation (with prior consent from s/o of course)

Malleus isn’t used to seeing this much skin and he wonders if it is alright for people to dress up like that and bluntly asks this to (Y/N).

(Y/N) says it is for Halloween party and he thinks another party that he isn’t invited.

He compliments (Y/N) as the courtesy demands since he really thinks she looks beautiful with that black clothing but he will sulk about the party. Please invite him (Y/N)!

Merry Christmas Jen

“I don’t have to listen to you, you’re not my real father.”

The living room fell into shocked silence as the other three adults frozen to stare in shock at what their seven year old daughter had said. Merlin just buried his face in his hands.

“Reika Pepper-Kingsmen!” Aoi was the first to recover. “Apologize to your Dad this instant.” “He’s not really my Dad, Papa is.“ Reika folded her arms and huffed.

“He’s as much your parent as I am.” Lewis knew he had a tendency to be overly lenient with his daughter, but there were some lines you didn’t cross. “Now apologize.”

“Why? I didn’t say anything the wasn’t true,” Normally Lewis found her mother’s stubbornness in her endearing, but now was not one of those times.

“Your room. Now.” Aoi’s voice was firm and Lewis’s hair was flickering, a testament to his agitated state. Reika stuck her chin up, but stomped upstairs anyway.

One she was gone Lew’s irritation melted in concern. “Geeze Arty, I’m sorry. I just don’t know what got into her.” Lewis fretted. To his surprise, Auberon just laughed.

“It’s okay, Lew, I’ve been expecting it.”

If anything that made Lewis more worried. His concern must have been evident because Arthur lost his own humor.  “Look Lew, kids try to assert themselves against authority however they can. Not being a biological relative is an easy loophole. One of the kids was going to pull it at some point, if not now then definitely when they hit their teens.” He sighed. “Honestly, I’m just glad Tammy’s at work. She would have taken that much worse.”

Even if she hadn’t been the one the statement was aimed at. She had been forced to give up her dream of parenthood after her death. That somehow a miracle had occurred and she’d gotten pregnant with Merlin had helped. But (and he knew exactly who to blame) Tammy seemed haunted by the idea that she would never be good enough. Reika rejecting her as a parent would have done a lot of damage.

Merlin worried his lip a bit, then crawled into Azul’s lap. “You’re my mommy too, Mom.” He reassured her. “Just like Kaasan. An’ Papa and Dad are my daddies and Pare’s my Pare.”

Azul gave him a tight squeeze. “You know it kiddo. We’re a big weird family, all of us together. Reika knows it to, even if she’s being bull headed.”

“Comes from your side of the family.” Auberon quipped. “I mean, if you and Aoi were any more bullheaded, you’d be minotaurs.” Both Blues shot him a look. Then all three turned to look at Lewis.

“Oh no, I’m not taking sides in this. I’ll stick with being only half ghost, thank you very much.” Lewis put up his hands in surrender.

Lewis knocked once on Reika’s door to let her know they were there before he and Aoi went in. He’d been torn as to whether or not to bring Azul and Auberon, but as Aoi pointed out, Reika wasn’t going to listen to either of them until they worked this out and all that would result were more hurt feelings.

Reika huffed as they came in. Her hair couldn’t flame up like her Papa’s, but it could glow slightly and shift hue. And right now it was broadcasting her sulk for the world to see.

“Reika, what was that about?” Aoi tried to keep her voice firm, but not scolding. Scolding wouldn’t get her daughter to talk (Which is not to say it wouldn’t come later).

“Well, it’s true, isn’t it?” Reika refused to let go of her sulk. “You guys are my parents, not them.”

“Biologically speaking, you’re correct.” Lewis said, ‘earning a WTF are you doing?’ look from Aoi. “But by that metric you have no Aunts and only a single Grandmother and Grandfather.”

That was unexpected enough that Reika broke her sulk enough to look directly at him. “What do you mean? I have three Grammas and Grampas. And six Aunts.”

“Nope,” Lewis popped the ‘P’. “I was adopted.” Both of him were. Past that it was different and Lewis was very careful not to dwell on the differences between his component parts. “I share no biological link to anyone, except you.”

Reika’s jaw worked a few times. “But…But…”

“But you want to keep your Aunties and Grandparents.” Aoi filled in. “What we want to know is why you suddenly don’t want to keep your Dad, Mom, and Pare.”

“It’s not that I don’t want them.” She was at least looking ashamed now. “But everyone else only had one or two parents.  You’re only supposed to have one or two parents.”

Lewis sighed, running his hand through his flaming hair.

Aoi was more on the ball. “Reika, ‘supposed to’ means one of two things. Either something that is better or people demanding things go a certain way and no other. The difference is really important. People are supposed to be kind to one another. That makes the world a friendlier place to live in. You’re supposed to eat nutritious food. It’s better than junk food because it will help you grow and stay healthy. Those are important.”

“People who insist you do things a certain way aren’t concerned with better, just with themselves being right. These people will say it’s wrong for all of us to love each other. Because you shouldn’t love more than one person. Because you shouldn’t love someone of the same gender, Because your Mommy and I and your Daddy and Pare look so similar.” And it was just looks (and their souls), thankfully. They had suspected due to things like Azul’s blonde hair and the fact that Auberon was related to the Kingsmens paternally and Artemis maternally. Testing had proven none of them had a genetic link to the other. “They’d also say your Pare would have to be a boy all of the time. Now think, would your life be better if it was just me and and your Papa, no Pare, Mommy, or Daddy?”

“Or Merlin,” Lewis added. “After all, if Pare and Dad aren’t your parents, then he isn’t your brother.”

If Reika was beginning to look remorseful before, she looked completely stricken now. “I didn’t mean that! Of course he’s my brother!” She faltered “Isn’t he?”

“Yes,” both Aoi and Lewis said in exasperated relief. “There are people who believe your only real family is the people you’re biologically related to. That the bond of blood should trump any other connection.” Lewis explained. “Those people are idiots.”

“Your Papa and I love you with all our hearts,” Aoi was quick to assure, “But the others don’t love you any less. The same way both set of Pepper Grandparents love Lewis as much as your Aunts.”

“There are also people who chose not to love the children they birth. Or worse, see the child as property and not a person.” Both versions of Arthur had dealt with that. From Auberon’s abandonment to the hideous abuse Artemis had undergone before Lance got custody. But neither were tales for such young ears. “What decides whether someone is really your family is if they love you and you love them. That’s is. And I can guarantee everyone who lives here loves you.”

“And you love them back.” Aoi had no doubt about that as she ran her hand through her daughters glowing hair.

Reika nodded. “Am I still in trouble?”

Aoi laughed. “Young Lady, you are grounded, but good. But we still love you, no matter what.”

Artemis Kingsmen loved working with her Uncle, but she was equally glad to be home after a long day. Keeping up the ruse to Lance’s other employees that she was still among the living was exhausting. At least they had been pretty respectful of her being genderfluid (It was hard to hide, honestly. Once she had unlocked her special brand of shapeshifting she was a girl when she felt like a girl and he was a boy when he felt like a boy, the only exception being during pregnancy). Still, as far as her coworkers were concerned, she was Lance’s kid, no matter what the gender of the day was. Acceptance was almost intoxicating in it’s own way.

“Welcome home, love.” Azul greeted her with a kiss. “Good day with Lance?”

“Not a bad one,” Artemis allowed, kissing her wife back. “Tiring though. I’m just glad I don’t have any muscles to ache. How’s it been here?”

“Eventful,” Azul rolled her eyes. “Reika decided to act about a bit. Aoi and Lew are dealing with it.”

“Just Aoi and Lewis?” Artemis was a surprised. Usually any parental things were either handled by one of them or all of them depending on the severity.

“It was appropriate.” Azul shrugged, not wanting to get into it. “Forte’s probably announcing your arrival, so Merlin and Auberon should be here soon.” There was no doubt the Geardead was formerly Lewis’s with it’s desire to act as butler and majordomo.

“Pare’s home!” True to Azul’s prediction Merlin came barreling through the halls to hug Artemis. The hug was a normal thing for any parent coming home from work. That Merlin’s hair was sparking and his eyes were slightly glowing wasn’t.

Artemis picked him up and squeezed her child tightly. “What’s wrong Merls?”

“Reika’s a stupidhead.” Merlin explained, burying his head in her shoulder.

Artemis shot Azul a look that clearly said ‘What did she do?’

Before Azul could answer, Auberon made it into the room and gave his wife a hug, trapping Merlin in between them. The child didn’t protest though, even when Azul joined in.

“Good, everyone’s together,” Lewis and Aoi came down the stairs, Reika between them. The violet-haired girl hung her head. “Reika has something she’d like to say to you guys.”

They reached the bottom of the stairs. Reika shuffled her feet and didn’t look anyone in the eye. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I was being stupid.”

Merlin set his jaw, but didn’t say anything.

“Thinking that our family should be a certain way because it’s ‘normal’ is dumb and mean. I love you all and I’m really glad you’re my family. All of you.”

Just as Reika’s contempt earlier was clear, so was her contrition now. She snuck a glance at her family. Dad was smiling at her, proud of her for apologizing, but not overly hurt. Mom’s smile was much smaller. She obviously still wasn’t happy that Reika made the remark in the first place. Pare was shocked, not having realized what Reika had said until she apologized for it. She looked so hurt, Reika wanted to apologize all over again.

But the least happy one was Merlin. From the angry look he was giving her, she knew he had made the connection she missed, That saying Dad wasn’t her parent was the same as saying Merlin wasn’t her brother.

“ ‘M sorry,” She said again, ducking behind Kaasan’s leg.

“I’ll forgive you,” Merlin said, though he still sounded unhappy. “This time. But if you ever say we’re not family again…”

“I won’t!” Reika promised desperately.

“Good,” Merlin curled back into his Pare, he’d forgiven her, but he still wasn’t happy with her right now.

Reika wilted a bit, but her Kaasan put a comforting hand on her shoulder. As much as she hated that her daughter had to go through this, actions had consequences and shielding her from them wouldn’t be good for anyone. Her son had already been deeply hurt and she had no desire to repeat this.

But the hurt feelings would fade. By the time Reika was ungrounded, Merlin would already have a bunch of new ideas of trouble for his favorite sister to join him in.

The family would endure, forged as it was in absolute love.

Tales of Matazlan 1

I bought a boogie board. It was pretty cheap in my standards but buying a surf board for just two weeks seemed like a waste when you can just rent one. But me, I was god awful at it as much as I enjoyed (trying to) surfing.

So if you can’t handle the beast go for the baby brother, that being the boogie board. It was literally the first thing I bought when I reached Mexico, because boogie boarding compared to surfing seemed a lot easier. In theory of course.

I didn’t actually use it until day 7 or 8 of my Mexican vacation. It stayed at the beside of my hotel room, addding the aesthic to the room looking blue and tropical, having no use. So I decided to take it for a frying in the peak of the Mexican sun. And it was horrible.

Or more appropriately,

I was horrible

Man, I couldn’t catch a wave even if it was like a bait on a string. And this upset me. There I was making a fool of myself with a board with no purpose for since I lacked the ability to use it. What a pickle.

A mariachi band played nearby to the people under the shade of the umbrellas provided by the hotel which stretched for a mile along the beach. People laughed and played and swam and there I was sitting under the shade, bummed out. Beach bummed.

And to top it off my father and his girlfriend were there, accustomed to the siesta, lazing in the sun, ready to comfort me.

“That is the saddest attempt of using a boogie board,” said my dad.

“ I’d like to see you try,” I retorted.

“No can do. I’m not dumb enough to buy something I can’t use.”

“Gee, thanks Pa”

His girlfriend tried to soften the criticism, “at least you can use it to float,” she said cheerful with a drunken smile.

I just rolled my eyes and pondered at the gleam of the ocean.

At that moment, local family care by and made place next to us. Sinaloan father with faded blue trunks and a sombrero with his disabled mother restricted to a wheelchair who sported a poncho and sombrero. Behind him followed who I assume was his wife, also with a sombrero, and a long red summer dress. Behind skipped his two daughters.

The girls ran to the edge of the water waiting for the wave to reach them before jumping and screaming into it, giggles and playful laughter followed as they kept splashing one another. My dad started to talk to the man but they couldn’t speak English so he used the translate app on his phone. What they talked about god only knows but they were laughing and cheering and it was grand for them. They’re friends on Facebook almost 2 years later.

Mind you I was still there butt-in-sand, knees up and hugging my board like a sore loser when the girls slowly approached me.

One girl had a her tied up in a pony tail. She couldn’t have been older than 5. He had a pink shirt with a sunflower own it. She a round face and dark brown hair. The other girl had a blue one piece, the same age. Her hair was down and she had these light brown eyes. Both had very Mexican feature and both they’re eyes were full of awe, curiousity and wonder.

The girl with the pink shirt slowly lifted her arm, and pointed at the boogie board.

“¿puedes enseñarnos?”

My Spanish was sub par, basic. I was limited to a few phrases and verbs but that was incomprehensible to me. I looked at my boogie board, puzzled together what she was saying and offered it to her.

“No no no,” the other girl pipped in a childish sass.

She pointed me and repeated what the other girl

“¿puedes enseñarnos?”

And she came in closer and poked my forehead with her tiny finger as I looked at her puzzled and commanded with rather exaggeratedly,

“Tuuuuuuuu”

“Me...” I pointed at myself and lifted up the boogie board showfully to them and point to them,”tu y tu?”

“Sí!!!!” They both screamed in relief and excitement.

So off I went. The girl with the blue swimsuit was Ingred and the other girl was Azul. I knew how to catch a wave and even though I couldn’t do I knew how to get the board on it.

It would be in turns. Ingred would wait in the shallow as I pulled her sister on the board through the choppy waters. The water was warm, always warm even at night which is one thing I loved. I made Azul lie on the board as I pulled her like a tug both over the little waves. I pulled her closer to me and wait until the the prefect swell arrive, when the wave approached I’d start to go in that direction towards the beach, pushing the Azul in front of me. The trick of catching the wave is to move with it and get on the top. You’re riding the wave. So once the wave arrived I’d used all my might and push the girl with the wave and she’d take the wave to the beach.

And I repeated the same thing with her sister. And we’d make it to the beach every time.

And they were having a blast, they kept yelling at me in Spanish and laughing at me because I’d reply with,

“Me español Es mal, no comprende tu hablar!”

And they just laugh, that belly laugh that kids do and splash me with the water and make them take them on the boogie board again. I don’t know how long we were there just enjoying the waters and the waves having fun, but we conquered the waves till sunset. And then we may have made sandcastle. Calling it a sandcastle is not what I would use but more of a hill of wet sand. But the girls thought it was good so as long as they were happy I was.

And it was great for all of us. They were having the time of their lives and I was transported back into a place of childhood. I felt like a boy, young and simple. All that mattered was my family, food and having fun. Innocent bliss

And like all good things, it came to an end. My dad and his girlfriend were there in conversation with the family and they were having a merry time drink Corona and palomas like Mexicans do. It was a goodbye drink as the fault were leaving.

Ingred and Azul had sullen faces at this news and persisted in staying a little longer, but they had to go.

The father thanked me for playing with his daughters, which I somehow managed to understand his Spanish. And then I said good bye to him and the grandmother, la abuela.

And then came time to say goodbye to little Azul and little Ingred, who stood there with the same innocent expression I did when I was in the sand sulking about the boogie board.

I kneeled down to their level and I stuck out my hand to both of them and smiled.

“Hasta manana”

They looked at me and hugged me instead.

“Gracias, senor!” cried out Ingred.

Nos divertimos mucho juntos,” Azul told me looking down.

I looked at them and said me too.

And then I had had an idea. I looked at them and smiled the biggest smile I think I’ve ever have and they looked each other with concerned expression and slight confusion.

“Que?” “Que Es que Es??” They asked with curiosity.

I held out the boogie board.

“Take it.”

They stared at me blankly. I chuckled and repeated myself.

“I’m serious, take it. It’s for both of you. Por favor.”

They looked at each other with with wide eyes and looked back at their father. He looked at them smiled and shrugged his shoulders.

They turned me back to me with the biggest smiles, you could fill the world with them.

“¿Der verdad?”

“Sí, really.”

And they screamed in joy and practically snatched it out of my hands. Off they went dancing and running and jumping in circles, singing and screaming in joy. What they were saying, beats me. But I knew it was alright. Two little bundles of energy going off as the sun slipped behind the horizon as dusk took over.

I just couldn’t stop smiling, somewhere deep inside me I knew it would the right thing to do.

And then they went off back down the beach to there home turning back every now and then waving and telling, till they disappeared like specks of dust.

I like to think I’ve set them on a course to become boggie boarders, in 12 years they’re gonna be the best in the world. One can think can’t he?

Even though I never got to use it, I know that two little girls in the coast of the Mexican Pacific are making the most of it. It’s in good hands, I believe it.
