psa for those who chest bind or are planning to chest bind!! you are only supposed to wear your binder 6-8 hours with breaks!! please take care of yourself!! i know it feels amazing in the moment but chronic chest pain won't!! be careful!! i love you!!
A little thingy: I, despite considering myself to be a binary trans man, don't bind and it's because I don't care about my physical gender expression and binding is uncomfortable as shit because my bobs get really sweaty and I fucking hate it, but I do kinda wanna know if you're someone whos expected to bind (ftm, ftnb, intersex, etc) but doesn't why you don't (if you're comfy with answering ofc).
Binders are wonderful, transformative things! BUT there are a lot of things to consider and prep yourself for if you want to wear a binder safely. So here's a quick guide on the top 10 tips for binder safety.
Your health is paramount and wearing a binder incorrectly can really damage your skin, and lead to breathing problems or back pain etc, so please listen to your body, and if it hurts, stop. Binders aren't for everyone but their are alternative methods to a flatter chest!

shoutout to the queers with chest dysphoria who have bad posture or tight muscles or chronic back or neck pain from slouching to hide their chests. i've been slouching terribly since i was 13 and my posture is noticeably curved and i've had chronic back pain for the past 2 1/2 years because of it. and i'm not the only one who has these kinds of problems! love you all, remember to stretch, shrimp posture check, and go easy on yourself
I have a new hobby! This is my first book binding attempt, and I'm really happy with it!
It's a sketchbook made of watercolor paper and chip board. Obviously I had to decorate it, so I used my favorite band, Steam Powered Giraffe, for inspiration.
please, please, please bind safely! If you are wearing something else such as multiple sports bras(especially if its over two binders @asters-tempo) or trans tape(do not, do not use duct tape) it is still incredibly important to not wear it for over 8 hours(usually considering this is the healthy standard for most binders) and be safe!
Yes, I fully understand and relate to the fact that dysphoria is frustrating and horrible to deal with, but you have to remember that your bone snake(spine) is important, and if you wear your binder too often it could hurt your spine and damage it to the point of stopping you from getting from getting top surgery if you want to someday.
TLDR: if you're binding, PLEASE make sure you're safely doing so.
Don't bind for longer than 6-8 hours guys. I've been consistently binding for longer than that every day for weeks, maybe even months now, due to a mix of severe dysphoria and forgetting the time that has passed.
For about a week now, I've been dealing with sharp pain right under my chest area. Like it's either the ribs or idk my organs or so hurting like a bitch after I take my binder off even if I bind for 8 hours only or less.
I can't confirm that it's from binding, but it seems most likely.
So yea. Don't do this to yourself. Remember that no matter how awful your dysphoria is, the pain you'll have from binding too much is not worth it. Because the pain can stay around for longer than you have your boobs if you fuck up badly enough.
by the way: if you contributed to this session, you're absolutely allowed to repost your art separately to your own blog or any other platform you post on! i only ask that if you share a whole canvas that you credit everybody mentioned above (including me, although my contributions this time around are negligible).
man this was so fun!! i loved getting to hang out and joke around with everybody. also somebody (i think it was h0dge-p0dge?) suggested we all play Gartic Phone together which i am SO on board with-
buuuuut i'm definitely gonna be taking break from stuff like this for a while > <"
nobody's fault! i'm just a bit burnt out and also i'm gonna be pretty swamped for the next few weeks/months. prom is next saturday, the musical i'm gonna be doing spotlights for is starting the week after that, and both my birthday AND graduation will be happening in May. in other words, pray for me 💀
if anyone else wants to take a turn organizing another event like this, go right on ahead! i think its so wonderful that we have this little community on here and getting to see everybody having fun together warms my cold, gamer heart. so go have fun and keep being kind to each other.
Binders are a great! Here's a quick intro into what they are, the many styles and options and some links on where to get one!✨
There are no rules on who can wear a binder, it's shapewear, if it helps you achieve your desired shape, then go for it! No one owes you an explanation as to why they choose to wear a binder; it's their body, their clothes, their choice.
If you are looking into getting a binder for yourself, it's important you do plenty of research into what style, size and materials are right for you. Check out resources from Point of Pride, Spectrum Outfitters, Amor Binders and Mermaids for safety and measurement guides. Or if you want video resources on binders, check out YouTube channels for PinkNews, Jammidodger, Ashton Daniel and As/Is.
It's important to note as well, that binders wont work for everyone, but there are other options for a flatter chest, like wearing baggier clothes and layering, working out your upper torso and arms, using trans tape or top surgery.
A dedicated binder safety guide post will be coming soon so stay tuned!...

I just watched the second (and final) season of Quantum Leap. As a nonbinary person, this scene really got me in the feels. It's really hokey and showing what should be basic human behavior. And I'm really glad it exists and it made me cry both times I've watched it.
Context for those who don't know, Mason Alexander Park plays Ian Wright, a nonbinary character in the main cast of the show. So they are reacting to this conversation among siblings, which is taking place in 1953.
And as a fan of the original QL in the early 90's, this is definitely a far cry from the overtly homophobic and transphobic aspects of some episodes back then. So, I guess it is nice to see specific evidence of some progress. Even as the backlash continues and we fight for actual liberation.
