Each member of the Batfam has a signature color except for Tim and I’m tweaking out about it.
In age order:
Alfred (Agent A) Pennyworth is white. (Ha ha yes literally) but also he’s clean and somehow manages to be classy even when splattered in blood. Also his hair.
Bruce (Batman) Wayne is gray. Bro is the night but he’s also not born to it. He’s as close of an imitation to darkness as someone who is still undeniably hopeful can be.
Kate (Batwoman) Kane is red. But in a lesbian way. Bordering on the magenta in the flag.
Barbara (Oracle) Gordon is orange. Yeah it’s probably because of her hair. Also it’s a brassy orange. She’s strict and intelligent but also funny. Idk man
Dick (Nightwing) Grayson is blue. Royal blue. Predictable ik, but he’s predictable. He’s a (not-so) reformed crash out and I think he deserves his peaceful blue that’s also just a little too bright to really be peaceful.
Cassandra (Black Bat) Cane? Black. Actually silent. All the training of Bruce without the white, quiet joy and domesticity of being raised by Alfred. Is the night. The opposite of Bruce, who chose to emulate the night when suited up, she is cursed to be it even out of costume because of her upbringing.
Jason (Red Hood) Todd is red. Not the bright red of his Robin days, but not too much darker. The blood he’s spilled mostly absolved by his later actions and his realization of his manipulation by Talia, but still staining his conscience.
Steph (Spoiler) Brown is purple. I mean the costume is literally purple, but she’s also just chill like that. She’s funny and pretty much does anything for the plot. She’s so purple to me.
Tim (Red Robin) Drake is ???. He’s not really red despite it being in his name. I can’t figure out what color aligns to him, especially because imo he hasn’t really had his own identity. Jokes about him being the Replacement hit hard when you realize that just like the rest of the Robins, barring Dick, he didn’t have a strong emotional connection to the suit. Tim arguably had more of one than other robins, from his stalker days and idolization of Batman and Robin, probably in third behind Jason “Robin makes me magic/literally haunted by his own younger Robin self” Todd. Then, just as he’s getting his footing being Bruce’s kid after his parents die, Bruce disappears and the mantle is passed on to Damian. So he becomes Red Robin because he still doesn’t know who he is without being Robin. And then writers mostly forget about him, sticking him with being Red Robin indefinitely and also eternally 17 because they can’t b bothered to give him any decent character development. So I don’t know what color fits him and it’s really very upsetting because he’s a very interesting complex character and should get one. Anyways
Duke (Signal) Thomas is yellow. Yeah it’s his suit color and also he can literally manipulate light, but he’s also the literal embodiment of the color. He’s arguably the most normal of any of them, and a practical ray of sunshine compared to most of the family. He’s also the only one working the day shift.
Damian (Robin) Wayne is green. No, I don’t know why. In some comics he wears more green than other robins, but in others he’s exclusively in red, gray, and black. Every time I think of him in his league wear I think of it as green, but it’s not, it’s gray or black. I don’t know why he’s green, he just is. He’s feral and loves animals which gives me forest green energy but he’s also terrifyingly trained and in control which gives me army green energy. He’s a green somewhere between the two.
Anyways they all have a color except for Tim and I’m really sad about it thank you

Today in late night pretty exhausted Kat thoughts of fics she's liable never to write but will keep vibrating her brain forever:
Reverse Batgirls AU where all the boys are the same because who cares!
Stephanie Brown! Basic stuff is the same, dad is still Cluemaster and he still sucks, so she adopts the persona of Batgirl! To get everyone's attention on him, only to quite enjoy the attention on her. Of course she still butts heads with Batman as her own solo act, but generally friendly with Dick. Really friendly with Supergirl.
Whenever Dick is fired, she playfully dresses up as Robin to tease Batman, only to be seriously offered the job. And to even her own shock, she accepts! It lasts three months still, sucks shit. But she still has her connections made as Batgirl, so she elects to leave behind the trappings of Batman and become her own hero! THE SPOILER!!! Eventually becoming a Titans staple!
Batman gets a new Robin soon after, who lasts a little longer before exploding.
Probably still gets pregnant but has way more of a support system this time around (not to mention she wouldn't be the only Titan with a kid), so she semi-retires for a bit but not really. The call to adventure is constant and Steph is never going to fully abandon Gotham. Even after the United States doesn't! Which leads into....
Cassandra Cain! Pretty much the same, appears during NML, works as a messenger for Spoiler's makeshift information network, yadda yadda. Steph is partially fueled by petty revenge on Helena stealing her bit whenever she offers Cass her old costume. She's a sweet kid! She'll grow into it.
Steph definitely tries to give Cool Mom energy to Cass as she makes it her full-time job mentoring the kid as Spoiler while balancing her own actual daughter. She tries her best to help the girl develop something of a life, to little avail.
But Cass likes Steph! She's cool and helpful and sometimes makes her feel more comfortable than she should be allowed to feel. She often finds herself babysitting for Steph and slowly learning language and reading along with her kid. But sometimes she's way too much or way too slow, so she gravitates back and forth between Steph and Bruce, to both of their frustration.
Cass sticks close to Tim. Steph taught her to become more of a team player, so the two become thick as thieves, practically siblings and co-workers both in Gotham and in Young Justice. They're both adopted by Bruce like a package deal. With no other teenage vigilantes in Gotham, they grow a weird, not very helpful codependency. They'll both always have each other's backs whether the other likes it or not.
Well, okay, so there's at least one other teenage vigilantes in Gotham.
Enter Barbara Gordon! Daughter of the police commissioner and computer virtuoso. With a condition that's rendered her paraplegic most of her life, she found solice in Cyberspace. And the GCPD records. And everywhere she could hack into, which was practically everywhere. Once her dad got framed for a crime he didn't do, she managed to use her online avatar Oracle to recruit Black Canary and Huntress to prove his innocence. And then she just got into the habit~
She gives Bruce constant flashbacks to younger Stephanie, much to his headache. She's arrogant and thinks she has the entire world in her hands, and she unfortunately might be right. He's still constantly rejecting her help and tells her to keep out of their business, unless she wants to get hurt.
But Babs is gonna help no matter what. In fact, she signs up for an experimental surgery to let her finally use her legs, so much as she doesn't strain them too much. So, she starts reveling in this newfound freedom and gets to training.
Batman dies. In the following madness, Barbara puts on an Oracle mask to help, risks be damned. Cassandra watches her in the midst of her own identity crisis post-Bruce Skeleton. So, she makes a decision and an offer.
Cassandra will become Black Bat! Something new that's all hers. Barbara can be Batgirl, her protégé, at least until her legs give out. And they will. Barbara will not last long as Batgirl with the strain she's putting on herself. But Cassandra recognizes this strain. Babs will only quit once she reaches her limit. Cass will help her get there and be there to catch her whenever they get there.
What then? Oracle will be waiting with renewed purpose, more powerful than ever. And what will become of Batgirl then? Oh, who's to say....
I probably have more specific ideas for changes and dynamics, but it's really late and these thoughts needed releasing before they became more of a problem, lol.

Ok so in reverse Robin aus I hate when Tim becomes redhood bc it’s really ooc for him, BUT Steph becoming the black mask after the incident but struggling with the business part (she is smart business is hard) and Tim becoming her right hand is in fact in character for him
seeing as he would not be obsessed with a dick Grayson who despite his murderous tendencies was light, and kind, and Jason who was all Robin gives me magic 😀
but instead Damian who is just as gritty as his father and a bitter Steph?
yep timmers would have a looooot less morals and a lot of money, and the second Robin needs HIS help? He is there!!!
(I don’t see him helping Bruce at all bc in canon Bruce’s grief for Steph lasted like two pages)
Oop. Your ending note is fantastic.
Let's add on, shall we?
Here's some tropes I don't prefer in Reverse Robin AUs:
Tim becoming Red Hood (Tim stealing Jason's shtick again is hilarious in the regular timeline). I will read a good fic with Tim as RH, but I prefer Tim to be Joker Junior, a completely new identity, or an Oracle-like identity.
Batman's partner being named "Robin" (that was Dick's identity he got from his parents. They should have another name)
I personally like Duke being the first one Batman adopts. Maybe Duke's parents get gassed in an alley in front of Batman, and Bruce decides to adopt Duke. The kid can still have his whole gang, and that's how Bruce decides to train Duke instead. Not sure.
Anyways, this could play into the AU you mentioned.
Damian moves on from his mantle, but Duke is still there. Steph, who Duke and Batman meet when she's Spoiler, agrees to fill in Damian's vacancy.
Tim meets Steph on the streets. He would be older than her in this. Your choice on how fanon it is (does he stalk Bats from a young age to take pictures of them), but I like the idea that he sent in cases he solved or tips he heard about.
When she dies, Damian comes home, and Duke is still there. Damian doesn't return to his previous mantle, but he's around. He's actually talking to Bruce again. Bruce thus doesn't grieve her much.
Tim doesn't see a need to step in.
Tim grieves his friend (or gf if that's your preference). Perhaps he goes abroad for a bit to distance himself from the city. There's bound to be some international programs his parents would like for him to take part in. Perhaps he still gets that Lady Shiva training. Dealer's choice.
After a year or two abroad (and if he got training, he learned from more teachers), Tim hears news about someone trying to rival Black Mask.
Since Black Mask took Steph from him, he sees this as a possible chance for revenge. He returns to Gotham.
I don't know if Steph would take up the mantle "Black Mask," but I could see her taking up a moniker that would mock the man (like White Veil, Lilac Cover, or something).
During her time "dead," she ends up getting training. Not sure who'd train her, but she learns more than Bruce ever taught her. Perhaps Helena and her end up chatting?
She's clever, and her father helped her knowledge on the criminal workings of Gotham. She utilizes her skills to gather people on her side and make them loyal to her (by providing great worker benefits, ig).
Tim offers his services to her gang without knowing it's Steph as the head (he plans to ruthlessly use them to get his revenge). Dealer's choice on whether Steph immediately lets him in or doesn't trust him (due to trauma with her death and shit).
Tim does some of the business and intel gathering. He occasionally goes in the field as well. Steph is the main brawns, gang director, and manager. She knows how gangs work, what her people really need/want, and how to manipulate the playing field. Tim can learn these things and suggest moves to Steph, but leaves decision-making to her.
Bruce, due to not knowing Tim, hasn't had the chance to instill tension between Steph and Tim. They have issues like all relationships, but they work it out. There's nowhere near the amount of shit there is in canon.
Maybe Tim's parents are dead by the time Steph gets back. Either way, I hope Crystal learns that her daughter is alive again

GOTHAM FILES: SEASON 7
SO, to start off, Jason has begun to form the Outlaws in a mini series going on in the background. His new team consists of himself, Roy Harper (Arsenal), Artemis of Bana-Mighdall (Amazon warrior), and Bizarro, (botched Superman clone).
BUT FORGET ALL THAT—SEASON 7.
The opening arc issssssssssss 🥁 🥁 🥁
THE KILLING JOKE.
Joker is back, he’s out of Arkham, and this time… his scheme is particularly diabolical. He’s discovered Batgirl’s secret identity. By the end of this harrowing tale, after many ups and downs, Joker escapes… after having shot Barbara in the back and paralysing her from the waste down. This shatters Barbara’s world. So not only has her identity been leaked (eventually making its way to the public) but now she’s lost the ability to walk and she’s lost the ability to be Batgirl. Basically, everything she ever wanted to do for Gotham, for her friends and family, feels completely out of reach now, and she doesn’t know what to do.
I mean, first of all, she needs to go underground to keep her and her father safe, but after that… she needs to do some serious soul searching. The conclusion of which is this: she may not be able to use her body to its fullest extent anymore, but she still has her sharp mind. She can still help. She can be the BatFam’s “Guy in the chair.” Or in this case, “Gal in the chair.” She takes the new Codename “Oracle” and sets up her headquarters in an old, abandoned clock tower. (She can’t be seen at Wayne Manor, ever. They’d link her (Batgirl) back to Bruce and then the secret would be out.) But now she’s kinda starting to feel like she’s found her groove again. She has a purpose again.
Damian continues his training under Bruce, Dick and Star navigate married life, Jason is gallivanting off with the Outlaws, Tim has actually been chosen by Bruce to kind of become Bruce Wayne’s apprentice in a way—Bruce thinks that one day, maybe he could run Wayne Enterprises—Stephanie and Tim continue to work on their relationship, Batwoman makes another appearance, Batman and Catwoman start to date a little more seriously (much to Damian’s chagrin), things move forward, and then we meet Cassandra Cain.
Specifically, Barbara meets Cass. See, this girl is very similar to Damian in that she was raised to be an assassin. However, her twisted father’s approach was to prohibit her from speaking ever, so that she had to rely solely on body language and facial expressions. This allows her to read people exceptionally well. She can tell if someone’s going to attack her, how they’re going to attack her, and when they’re going to attack her, all before they can even blink. Thing is, she’s not a natural-born killer. After she took her first life at just eight years old, she freaked out and tired to run away. She managed to escape a few years later. Now she had popped up on Oracle’s radar, and she sent in the BatFam to sort out the kerfuffle. When Bruce meets her, he can tell that she’s not like the deranged lunatics of Gotham, she’s just a kid. A kid with no clear direction in life and a dark past. He lets her crash at the Manor until she can get a few things sorted. They also need her help to bring down her father, another known criminal. Barbara, though, recognises something within Cass that she sees in herself. A feeling… that you believe you’re broken… like something’s wrong with you. Cass has been trying to learn to speak since running away, but she’s really bad at it. The only thing she’s good for is knowing how to kill people. Even her friends. She feels like she’s a broken human being. Barbara for a while felt literally broken, due to her legs. Like she wasn’t good for anything. And even now, she sometimes feels like she’s only good for one thing: sitting behind a screen. She takes Cass under her wing and she begins to teach her all the things she learned as Batgirl. Together, they both heal and learn to move past what they both thought they were. In the end, Babs becomes much for comfortable and confident in her new role as Oracle, and Cass redeems herself by becoming the new Batgirl. Steph also adopts her as her best friend/Batsister immediately.
After that, Barbara gets the idea to start the Birds of Prey (an elite squad of girl superheroes which she manages from her chair) and everything’s going pretty well for a while.
We get introduced to Luke Fox, aka Batwing, (I need to research his story more, soorrryyy…… there’s a lot of charactersssss)
Harley Quinn has just begun her redemption arc! Well, I mean, I will have been hinting at this for several seasons, but now it’s official. Now she’s coming back to the sane side.
Damian is finally allowed to go to school at Gotham Academy (though he insists that he always arrive via helicopter. He accepts no substitutions), and while we’re talking about Damian, let’s see how he’s doing with the whole “murder” thing. He’s, uh… not as bad as he was when he first arrived… so that’s good. But at the same time… he, uh… he still has some room for improvement. He’s got a little bit of a temper, he’s still stuck-up, and although he’s able to follow Batman’s no killing rule, he does still plan to go back to his old ways as soon as his time with Bruce is over. His destiny is still to become the new Demon’s Head and rule the New World, remember? BUT THEN…
The grande finale of season 7. His name is Heretic… and he’s a bad dude. So bad, in fact, that he manages to kill Damian. HOWEVER… that is not where the finale ends… it’s only just started… no cliffhangers this time. Bruce, naturally, does not take this death well, but he’s also not going to crumble this time. This time, he knows it’s possible to bring Damian back, and he will go to the ends of the Earth to make that happen. He pursues every single conceivable avenue available to him, and he Does. Not. Rest. until he brings his son back to life! The other Batkids are there too, helping, and together, they manage to save their little brother. (I forget how they do that in the comics just now, I’ll come back and edit this later XD) Anyway, this is the second most crucial moment in Damian’s life. Now, he has experienced what it’s like to die… to be on the other end of a sword… and he’s moved by the fact that not only his father, but his entire adoptive family (who’ve famously hated him), all came together to save him. It completely redefines his definition of love and it opens up an entirely new feeling for him: empathy. From this moment on, he doesn’t even try to take another life. He’s starting to think that maybe he doesn’t want to.
Oh, and also, Starfire’s pregnant! 🎉

So I've been dealing with a really bad fever for the last few days, and apparently i had written something i have no recollection of writing so here it is:
~~~~~~~
Tim had dug himself into a hole.
To anyone that knew him, that fact wouldn't be too surprising. Tim had always been a very capable individual, but every now and then he became too in love with how capable he was and he would trip over his own ego. Usually the boy could get out of the messes he created, the sudden humbling giving him a clear head, but this time, he didn't think he could climb his way out on his own.
The first shovel of dirt of this metaphorical hole came over 4 years ago, lining up with the first shovel of dirt of a literal hole.
Jason Todd had died. Robin had died.
Batman was in shambles.
And 13 year old Tim Drake thought that because of the knowledge he had, it was his responsibility to fix him.
Batman needed a Robin, and despite what Nightwing had implied, Tim was nowhere near cool enough to be Robin.
So what would make Batman get his own sidekick? If his enemies had one! Batman would be forced to find someone else to deal with the sidekick while he dealt with the actual Rouge.
The Joker was obviously out. Beyond the fact that the Joker was horrible, Tim may be joining up with a villain but that didn’t mean he wanted Batman to hate him.
That meant he needed to find someone Batman didn’t enact a lot of violence on. That got rid of the Scarecrow and the various crime bosses (Black Mask, the Penguin, etc.). Bruce had been close to Harvey Dent, but a 50% chance of death was a percentage that was just a little too high for Tim (oh how that would change). Most of the lower tier Rouges (Kite Man, Mad Hatter, etc.) had gone under after the got wind of Batman's fury, not to mention that Tim really didn't want to spend his days smelling like ketchup. Poison Ivy and Killer Croc were cool, but their skills weren't exactly ones Tim could replicate.
That left Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and the Riddler.
The Mr. Freeze was more gentle with kids, their “villiainly” being based on the actions of adults, and the latter three were in it for their own interests rather than the purpose of killing or invoking fear, Catowman wanted shiny things, Harley wanted chaos and fun, and while the Riddler didn't share the same soft spot for kids, he respected intelligence.
Tim chose Catwoman; the least lethal, and the closest with Batman. The skills she could teach him would also be more helpful in other situations.
It took about a week from the day he knocked on Selina Kyle's door to convince her to train him, but soon enough, a couple days before his 14th birthday and a few more calls to 911 about petty thieves left in the wake of Batman’s grief then Tim would have liked, “Stray” entered the scene.
And his plan was working!
The first time Batman had seen the second pair of cat ears he had paused mid ass-kicking of a carjacker and followed the duo, leaving the guy with more teeth then the others.
Slowly but surely, as time went on, the punishments the Batman inflicted started to fit the crime. By the time Tim was 15, he even thought he had seen a small upturn at the corner of Bruce’s mouth as he witnessed a bit of friendly banter between the two cats!
This was when the young villain had started to become a tad bit overconfident. In his defense, he had managed to keep his identity hidden from even Oracle! Lifts in his shoes, a voice modulator, make-up to disguise his facial features, along with a set of the same goggles Catwoman had kept and physical information from being revealed, and Tim Drake never interacted with Selina Kyle so there was no reason that anyone should have suspected him.
That overconfidence is what led him to replicate his plan. If one Rouge sidekick had benefits, then two Rouge sidekicks would mean double the benefits!
Solving riddles wasn’t too hard for the young boy, being able to see double meaning and red herrings was a skill taught to him by Janet Drake, and he took to the escape-room-esque plans for his heists quite easily. The thing he couldn’t figure out was creating riddles of his own. Mother had taught him that knowledge was power, you only reveal it if there was something to be gained, so purposely revealing information about his intention, helping his opponent was not something Tim was accustomed to, not bound to the compulsion to always tell the truth.
If the boy truly wanted to replicate the Riddler, then he would have to learn from the man himself.
Convincing the enigmatic man to teach Tim was easier than it had been with Catowman, the impressive display of bypassing the puzzles that hid the location of the game-playing criminal certainly helping.
Now, 15 years old with an unexplained skill boost in his AP Lang class (the lessons on wordplay were a definite help), The Riddler’s protege, ‘The Puzzler’ became the newest addition to the Gotham Rogues. He resented that name by the way. It was supposed to be Sibyl or Sphinx, they were on theme because they spoke in riddles and though he would deny it, the use of greek figures were his own little way of mocking Oracle, who still couldn’t figure out his identity. But apparently Poison Ivy and the Riddler had brunch once a month (something about being the green Rouges?) and she had heard the Riddler refer to him as “the little puzzle piece” when he was talking about his apprentice and the puzzle theme stuck despite how uncreative the name was.
This is when things became a bit hectic. Not only did Tim have to hide his nightlife from Batman and his parents, now he had to keep his two mentors from realizing that their mentees were the same person.
He managed to convince Selina that the reason he was so busy lately was the AP classes that came with sophomore year, and while it wasn’t a lie, it certainly wasn’t the full story.
Nygma was easier to deceive. Tim had refrained from sharing his actual identity with the man (just because he would tell the truth in his puzzles for the sake of theme didn’t mean that he would be sharing personal information if it wasn’t needed. The only reason he hadn't hid it from Selina was to gain her trust, something that wasn’t needed with the Riddler) so just saying that he was busy was enough.
All the effort was worth it though. Things kept getting better.
Nightwing was seen in Gotham more often, and Spoiler (someone who Tim initially thought was trying to steal his thing by being a sidekick of the Cluemaster, only to realize she was working against him) had been seen fighting alongside the Batman one or twice.
On an unrelated note, Stephiane Brown suddenly had her tuition for Gotham Academy paid for in full by the newly created Jason Todd Foundation.
Since things were going so well, he decided to push his luck a little further.
Unfortunately for Tim, he would soon realize the reason he was known for his bad luck in the future.
It started off like other times. Tim convinced Harley Quinn to take him under her wing, and “Ace” made their debut along with Tim’s 5 in AP Psych (Thank you Dr. Quinzel).
Steph and Tim happened to share a few classes together, and went from study buddies (Tim helping her in Chem, and Steph helping him in American History) to close friends.
Spoiler officially joined the Bats, and there were rumors of another bat joining the clan as well. Well there were no actual rumors, but the newest Wayne kid, Cassandra, had started joining him and Steph at their lunch table so her becoming a new bat wouldn’t be too surprising.
Soon enough though, things went to shit.
To start off, the first time Spoiler met Ace, she threw a brick at his head.
Second, His parents had caught him sneaking out and had grounded him, meaning that he now had to wait until they did their last check on his room at 12:00 to sneak out.
The lack of sleep was starting to catch up to the highschooler. Handling 3 separate nightlife identities was hard enough, but doing so while exhausted was even harder.
After pulling an all nighter to study for a test the night before, he had gone to Selina’s apartment dressed as Ace, and had both costumes not been mostly black he would have been undoubtedly caught before he managed to fix his mistake.
Puzzler once spent a whole night sounding like Stray, and he didn’t think that his “sore throat” lie was all that believable.
Tim accidentally made a cat pun instead of a bat one when engaging in vaguely flirty banter with Spoiler as Ace and Harley had set him down to have the talk, stating that she would love him no matter who he liked and she would be happy to serve as a wingman for him and Catwoman’s protege. It would be funny if it wasn’t so embarrassing.
Third, Cassandra Wayne definitely knew something.
Tim’s “rumors” were right. 2 weeks after Cass had first joined their table Black Bat made herself known. By pinning Puzzler to the ground.
The next day Cass spent the entire lunch period staring at Tim. When he attempted to throw her off by invoking a mix of Stray and Ace’s mannerisms she stopped staring, instead choosing to freak Tim out more by smiling knowingly. At his wide eyes she mimed zipping her lips and throwing away the key only throwing Tim off further. Cass was too smart to not have known, but there was no reason she wouldn’t tell if she did know, right?
Last, but not least, and the worst of all:
Jason Todd was alive.
~~~~~~~
I have no clue where i was going with that last line, but i see a vision, so I'm hoping it will come back to me, but if not, any suggestions or constructive criticism (or a better puzzle themed name for tim) would be helpful

Damien's Bedtime Stories #6
Damien’s journal was running thick with notes and his curiosity had only grown, so on patrol on a relatively still night in Gotham he perched next to Carrie Kelly the Cat Girl, and shortest ran Robin to ask her what he had asked his other siblings,
Cat Girl… what moment made you take to heart what it truly meant to be a bat
“Strange time for the question, Robin, while we’re on patrol; a still night can turn into a gun show on a moment’s notice”
I am aware but, we have our lookout, we have Oracle in our ears, and we can cut the story short at any point. Who knows we might get lucky
Carrie:
I’ll tell you a story of luck, Robin. It started as a simple protest against a new bill being passed by one of Harvey Dent's former affiliates who has been elected to city council, but where we picked to protest was the wrong place, the wrong time.
Black Mask had teamed up with the Joker and was battling against Red Hood and the crime families in his control were waging war against them. This battle flooded the streets compared to the more private fights Red Hood attempted to keep it to and Batman and Robin were caught in the crosshairs of it. If it wasn’t for me Batman would have been mortally wounded and Robin would have been killed. Instead, Robin was out for the count and Batman was forced to take me back to the cave to heal his son and himself. They were lucky I was there. With Robin now Red Robin out for the count, Batman reluctantly let me don the Nightwing’s old Robin costume and join him in the fight with limited training.
I was reckless and dangerous but I listened to my gut I was lucky and I survived each fight as we convinced Red Hood to return to our crusade and we took out Joker and Black Mask, although I wasn’t exactly there for that part during the climactic finale with Batman, the Hood, Black Mask, and Joker I was in the street handling gangs and mob families, but while I was sloppy I was lucky and in my rhythm surviving. Eventually, Robin recovered and I took the time to retire and work on my skills as there was only so far I could get out of luck on my own, I put on Nightwing’s Robin suit once more about a month after Robin became Red Robin, and within two months I would give up that role once more finding my own identity and self within the Cat Girl persona, mreow.
But what made me realize I was truly a bat and how to show that? Luck is definitely still a big part of this but how doI really explain that?
Are you familiar with the Ventriloquist and Scarface..? It feels like years since they roamed the rouge galleries they might be before your time Robin but I think you’ll find my encounter with them effective for your “research” into our responses to your question.
It was a night like this, it started still, and I was on my own, Cat Girl usually worked alone at the time and I got word from Oracle that a minor mob dispute could end in civilian casualties near where I was perched, so I crept towards the location jumping from rooftop to rooftop to stake it out only interfering when my gut told me the time was right. Scarface had taken over a good portion of Cobbelpot’s territories and was getting into a scuffle with some hired guns and muscle that each had hired by the docks.
This was more Red Hood's cup of tea but I would have to do for now because there were no other options because time was of the essence. When I saw the moment I launched a firework in between them letting a flash of colorful smoke and sparks distract them long enough that I could move through the shadow and knock out several of the mobsters and that’s when a singular of Scarface’s goons that managed to stay standing and beat me over the head with a baseball bat knocking me out where I stood.
 I woke up tied up in the center of his territory, when I awoke I realized I was new enough they didn’t know what gadgets I had hidden, so I kept my mouth shut and waited for my moment to strike. I knew Oracle would have already signaled for reinforcements but I’d still rather handle this alone so I weighed my options and listened to my gut. That's when the Ventriloquist and Scarface entered the chamber.
“I’m so sorry this… this wasn’t my idea-” spoke the Ventriloquist before his puppet… puppetmaster?! Scarface interrupted “Can it won’t ya! Ya see dollface you messed with my guys soon you’ll be iced”
You see Robin, Arnold Wesker was a deeply demented man who developed a strange form of DID, while DID isn’t something to be scared of in most people and is simply a trauma response in Wesker’s case he attached in a way a personality to his puppet Scarface who would constantly berate and abuse him, this Scarface persona ran a mob underground and was known for being incredibly violent, a part of Wesker that he hid so deeply within himself his violence and self-loathing it manifested as Scarface. A lot of Gotham newspapers used him to demonize the disorder itself so I again emphasize just because he was shitty doesn’t make everyone with that disorder a deranged lunatic if you get where I’m coming from Robin.
//Damian nods//
So anyways I was being held captive, I knew I was above an ice bath tied up presumably to be dunked soon, I was ready to break out, but didn’t know how many reinforcements he had ready. I had to depend on instinct, luck, and skill, all 3 things the most important in being a bat. I egged him on, I don’t remember what I said. I called him something along the lines of termite head and then insinuated that Wesker was the one that led me to him and that Wesker was a rat. Scarface started beating on Wesker and as he prepared to blow out Wesker’s brain with his Tommy Gun I cut through the rope with my suit's retractable claws and kicked them back into a wall. Gangsters rushed in and opened fire. I tried to minimize casualties but many fell to friendly fire, I took out as many as I could with hand-to-hand combat skating around them.
That's when my luck ran out though, although the gangsters were down and wounded by then the ventriloquist and Scarface were back on their feet and had blasted out the wheels on my skates. They approached slowly monologuing something about family in a strange twisted sense like they only knew how to run a mob because they saw an old trashy movie ripe with spaghetti stains. Scarface’s gun was pointing down my face and that's when my luck returned, as they pulled the trigger and the gun jammed. As swiftly as I could I lunged towards the two my palm pressing into the puppet's face and slamming it to the floor shattering it into splinters and rendering Wesker catatonic, he was shipped to Arkhum, and the surviving mobsters were sent to jail, but that night my luck stuck with me.
I’ve kept a file on Wesker’s progress since then he’s made some mad steps forward and after the years he’s stayed in Arkham he’s due to get out for good behavior any week now. To summarize though Robin, luck, instinct, and skill are what makes me a bat.
Before Damian could respond a loud bang is heard from a few blocks away sending the two flying through the air toward the danger. Yet I think Damian knows more now than ever that at some point he needs to depend on luck and in stopping this mugging he and Catgirl will have luck on their side. The young Robin was beginning to spread his wings.

Batman characters get Pokémon time!
Bruce has a Marowak, naturally, since he encountered a Cubone after his parents' death and bonded with it since they emphasized with each other. I think he also has a Delphox evolved from the Fennekin he received as a kid for his starter pokemon.
Batman's public partner, however, is a Noivern.
Dick has a Bolthund, but Nightwing has an Altaria.
Jason has an Mightyena, but Red Hood has a Fearrow.
Damian has a full squad of six "fierce" pokemon (actually super adorable or genuinely baby pokemon). I'm thinking Cleffa, Togepi, Riolu, Munchlax, Eevee, and Rockruff. No thought was put into making this a balanced team. Cuteness only. Damian insists with proper training he can make them a balanced team.
Robin has a Honedge, not that everyone is aware his sword is a pokemon. Bruce definitely isn't, and is currently trying to convince Damian to pick between either his Riolu or his Rockruff to remove from his civilian team and use exclusively as his vigilante partner to protect his identity. But limiting yourself to six pokemon partners is a stupid rule anyway! He should be allowed to have as many as he can provide care and training for, and as the Heir to the Bat and the Demon's Head, he has many resources at his disposal! Once he proves himself capable of managing seven by proving himself as Robin and revealing Honedge, he should easily be able to convince his father to let him take home the Mareep he desperately wants as his eighth!
I really like the idea of the Drakes all having ghost pokemon for no reason other than I like ghost pokemon. But also fossil type pokemon because they definitely dug some up on their trips.
Jack Drake has a Dusclops and an Archeops. Janet has a Froslass and a Bastiodon. (I don't subscribe to Jack and Janet being basically monsters to Tim, I see them more as "would have been a great Aunt/Uncle, but definitely can't and shouldn't be in charge of a child full-time" BUT I picked these pokemon for vibes only and yet, it's interesting that the pokedex entries for both Dusclops and Froslass describe them as having "completely hollow" bodies. Hmm. You could pyschoanalyze the shit out of that.)
Tim also has a full team of 6, because I have too many I want to give him, and he's rich, so he can afford it. He has a Rotom, a Dreepy, a Shuppet, and an Aurorus his parents revived from a fossil for him. (And a Mimkyu, but his parents didn't know about that one.)
Red Robin has a Persian.
Ra's Al Ghul has Rayquaza. And as part of his whole environmental terrorist thing, he is trying to also capture Kyogre and Groudon.
Alfred has Shaymin. Don't ask where he got it, Shaymin's been with him since before he worked for the Waynes.
Stephanie has a Mime Jr. while Spoiler has a Hitmonchan.
Duke has a Chatot, and Signal has a Growlithe.
Barbara has a Gardevoir and a Pichu who was her partner as Batgirl. She doesn't need a separate pokemon as Oracle since she's not in front of the public.

Wait wait wait wait. You just inspired a new AU, which I will tentatively call "child soldierless", i.e. what if everyone joined Batman as an adult.
Because that wage worker? That's Jason. He just happened to have been wearing a red hoodie at the time.
He does leverage his newfound rep into a succesful criminal career, but eventually gets in too deep and goes to the Bat for help. Bruce had forgotten, and didn't even notice he was down one batmobile. He does help, and Red Hood does join up.
Barbara is easy, basically free. The old halloween party, Batgirl cosplay, party crashers, that all works just fine if she's an adult.
Or alternatively, if we want Oracle: she always wanted to be a cop like her dad, the (ideally jokerless but that's not crucial) accident happened and now she can't, so Batman gives her a job. In this version I guess Jim helped set that up? Would be nice.
Dick's also easy. The Graysons were murdered on his 18th birthday, because he was specifically being framed for it. Batman and Robin's first outing is now to help clear his name.
I guess I have to acknowledge that he used the family's colours and called himself Robin, but I really wanna move him into Nightwing without breaking up the batfamily or getting another Robin, because:
Kate and Betty Kane were originally invented to be Bruce and Dick's love interests, respectively. Obviously the former can no longer do that, having become his cousin and also gay, but Betty still can. And wikipedia lists her as Flamebird, which is the identity of Nightwing's sidekick, so of course I want them to join up for that reason.
I guess Kate had always been Batwoman? Her family became Bruce's closest family after the Monarch Theatre Deal, they trained together, etc. And then Betty always wanted to join up, she never let her because she was "too young" but eventually they admit she's not anymore. Something like that, I guess.
Tim's not gonna be costumed. Instead he got a private eye agency, Red Drake Investigations. He tries to research the batfamily more or less to test himself. Didn't really expect to uncover their identities so easily. He sends Wayne Manor a file with his findings, the weaknesses that let him figure it all out and how they can improve their security.
At first Batman worries this'll be a new villain, but it ends up becoming an ally.
The League of Assassins also doesn't use children. They do train them, but there are no missions until they're old enough. Talia's idea, Ra's keeps telling himself it's just a phase, she'll get over it one of these decades.
Damian turns out to be a good person despite everything, so that all his targets either manage to escape or there is nothing left of their bodies. At first it seems to be fine, since nepotism, but eventually it becomes clear even he is subject to judgement, leaving him no choice but to fake his death and run away to Gotham.
If Dick's not given up the "Robin" mantle yet, I guess this is the time?
Helena and Stephanie were childhood friends, as well as daughters of rival crime bosses. The two families are more civil than they'd normally be, for their sake. Maybe their fathers joke about "if only you'd had a son instead", sometimes.
But the mafia princesses also hate crime, and they team up to destroy both their organizations. This works, but it leaves them homeless, whereupon the batfamily takes them in.
Cass was the one to kill Damian. They thought it'd be fine, since he was a failure, but it quickly become clear that his grandfather still cared, despite everything. Talia had no choice but to hunt her down, to avenge her son. The last thing she told her was "go to Gotham, seek the Bat".
She didn't know he was enjoying even more nepotism, she just thought he was a good choice for former assassins to be given asylum, and a new purpose. And she's right.
I also want her to think Damian is the only one in the group that has never killed anyone. With their various criminal backgrounds and personal tragedies and whatnot, plus the fact that she hardly ever talks, it shouldn't be too difficult to maintain that misunderstanding.
Duke was a repairman for the company that happens to maintain the bat-signal. He was doing that during a stormy night when lightning hit it, then arced to him, giving him his powers. That thing probably contained illegal radioactive materials or something.

"how did Tim get added into the family?"
Jason, holding his lacrosse stick over his shoulder, a symbol of another sport he would get invested for a couple months to win some games before dropping out: the Drake's have been gone for some time now, did they move? Their kid was alright.
Bruce, a tired dad who had to watch all three showings of Jason's theater troupe that week and still go out to patrol: I'll look into it.
Three weeks later he finds out the Drake's went missing and that Tim is on his boarding school without a clue in the world. Batman manages to save the Drake's with some setbacks and Tim spills the beans about Batman and Robin's identity, he gets recruited into a vigilante desk job under Oracle, because Bruce doesn't know what to do with a thirteen year old loser that knows more than he should, Tim still ends up going out to help Batman and Nightwing and that's when Bruce decides to train him properly and Dick passes down the mantle.
That's when Bruce thinks about revealing their identity to Jason, but his poor babyboy is just so so happy about his new hobby (racecar driver) how could he drop a bomb this big on him? Making him face the fact that his family kept such a big secret for so long? Pull him in a world of pain and suffering that he's not ready for?
time travel fanfic idea where Jason comes back to before he was adopted, him and Batman still meet and he still ends up being adopted by Bruce Wayne, but he just refuses to acknowledge Batman and Robin, he acts like a civilian boy, he has over thirteen extracurriculars that Bruce does his best to keep up with. He regularly works out and trains all the fighting he's learned over the years, he goes on a gap year before college to recuperate the all blades and pretends to be the civilian in a family of crime fighting vigilantes.
He's doing pre-med and keeps nagging his siblings to go to college too (Cass, Tim), Duke is the one who spends more time with him bc everyone else is nocturnal and sleep through the day, but Jason likes to drive Duke to his classes and pick him up so they can have lunch together, Damian had a hard time at first, because Jason speaks every language that he speaks and all bat related things have to stay at the cave, his league training didn't prepare him for a civilian brother.
During an attempted kidnapping during one of the Wayne galas, Jason's whole plan almost gets blow up because one of the guys has taken a woman hostage and his Red Hood fried brain just pounced on the dude with all his might, wrestled him for the gun and kept him stuck under his boot with the gun pointed between the guys brows.
He had to pretend to be scared when Batman came to the rescue and act like he didn't know how to handle a gun.
+ Alfred 100% thinks Jason was on a children gang and that's why he's so good with knives, guns and rifles, but who's he to say anything about people's past
