hc that once he feels comfortable, neil’s favorite thing is wearing (stealing) his friends’ (the foxes’) clothes. it’s like a physical anchor for him? something undeniable that says “i am loved, i am cared for, i am trusted” and most importantly “i must return”.

- he and andrew basically share clothes…. when it comes to clothing they forget who’s is who’s and accidentally wear each others’ jerseys

- matt’s mom is sentimental and has a lot of matt’s old clothes, and eventually matt brings neil home over a break and lets him thrift in his childhood wardrobe

- nicky gives him old t-shirts from bands he doesn’t listen to anymore and neil wears them as pjs

- kevin is a stylish bisexual in his early twenties so he has looots of nice jewelry of which neil picks a piece or two of to sneak every week, and Kevin lets him under the pretense of teaching neil to dress better

- renee notices that neil has no proper comfortable clothes and will always offer for him to take her sweatpants (they’re… kinda long) “for the night” but they both know she does not expect them back for a few days

- even aaron once gets sweatpants just a couple inches too long and one day neil just finds them on his desk in the dorm, flung over a pile of notes and messing up his study space, but warm and brand new

- not clothes but when neil completes his first full year with the foxes, like to the day, on the calendar one year since he came to south carolina, wymack gives neil the blanket he used when sleeping on the couch in his apartment last summer

all of this makes neil feel safer than he would admit, but they all notice and play this game. if he’s wearing dan’s sneakers… well, he can’t run away with those on, it would just be inconsiderate

He would shop at cheaper places, look at cheaper stuff, stuff on sale, clearance isles, stuff like that. That's his concept of money. More things at a cheaper price.

But at the same time, more things at a cheaper price.

So he can spend more.

What would've been $100 for only like 3 clothing items turns into $100 for 10 or so clothing items.

Ross, Marshalls, DD's discount, Burlington, thrift stores, those are his go to shopping places.

He won't spend more than $50 if he can on himself when he shops, but he'll gladly spend over $500 on his friends or family if they ask to go shopping.

Oh and he will pay for you, don't even try paying when you're with him.

That's the Filipino way.

I think part of the reason I'm so obsessed with Geralt and Jaskier, especially post-mountain apology fics is I'm projecting onto it. That fantasy of being apologized to, being made up to, being given attention above and beyond by someone who ignored you before - that's the dream, isn't it? That's the dream.

To have someone who underappreciated you and thought you were annoying turn around and say, "I was wrong, I adored your presence, You were never a bother, you were never annoying, and I miss you so much and I will spend the rest of our relationship letting you know how much I love and appreciate you." It's a drug I will never get enough of.

Angel didn’t tell David until almost a year into their relationship about their insomnia, but David already knew. He just didn’t know how to approach it initially, still held back by his old habits of shutting himself down before he gave himself the chance to act.

He could tell. Angel would slow their breathing and stay still for a long time before shifting ever so slightly. Sometimes they’d mumble a little, other times they’d let out a little snore.

But David could tell. The longer they tried to keep up the act, the more tense their shoulders became. He felt their muscles tighten while they lay in his arms.

Sometimes they’d outright sneak out of the bed, opting to sit on the couch with a small lamp while they scrolled on their phone or looked out the window at the stars. Unfortunately for them though, David was a light sleeper and woke up whenever they did.

One time it had been almost a full week since Angel was able to sleep for more than a few hours at a time. Once again they laid in his arms, head on his chest, and slowed their breathing. But he felt it. Frustration built up in them, tension in their body almost bursting, and he heard the small sniffles as they tried to hide their tears and curled further into him. They wanted to sleep. They were so tired, so drained. They had an early day tomorrow. But no matter what they did, they couldn’t. And now it felt like they were alone, laying there in the darkness.

David immediately picked it up, his core flashing and flittering in alert. That’s when he woke up, well, pretended to (as if he wasn’t awake for the last hour already), and cuddled closer to Angel, wrapping his arms around them. He pat their back in a gentle rhythm and found a topic to ramble about. He told them of his past with nightmares, and how his dad would help him. He told them that he was there for them, that even if there’s nothing he can do to help, he still wants to be there, and that they’re worth a little lost sleep on his part.

After a while he finally felt their shoulders relax and breath slow naturally. He kissed the top of their head and followed them into sleep.
