What’s for Breakfast?
(yes it’s the parsnip fic)
(tw mentioned nightmares and mildly dissociation)
disclaimer: this will probably be ooc, i’m still extremely new to the fandom so be nice please
description: jason decides to cook and is interrupted by the rest of the bat siblings.
word count: 1556
All he came here to do was drop off some intel for Bruce but now? Now Jason is standing in the middle of the Wayne manor kitchen, with his hands on his hips, wondering what he should cook. He’s hungry, alright, sue him.
It’s Sunday and Sunday is the day Alfred restocks the kitchen so the chances of Jason actually finding something other than premade pancake mix was not great.
The first ingredient item he finds is a few parsnips. He passes one between his hands trying to think of what he can make with them. After a few seconds he comes up with something, tossing the parsnips onto the counter and he collects some onions, a leek, flour, eggs and vegetable oil. He gets the grater out and it’s decided. He’s gonna make parsnip and onion fritters.
Jason starts with slicing the onion. Just get that shit over and done with. The familiar burn of the onion begins in his eyes and he is immediately reminded of the last time he cooked in here. He was 15, it was a few weeks before his death. He and Alfred were making home made burgers, requested by Jason himself, and they made caramelised onions to go with it.
He’s pulled out of the memory by the wet feeling of tears dripping down onto his hand. He glares down at the vegetable as if it had personally wronged him. And you know what? It did. He’s crying all because of a fucking onion.
He continues slicing only slightly more aggressively when he hears a soft patter of feet.
“Todd?” At the sound of his name he looks up and is met with a sleepy Damian staring back. The kid’s got on a set of cat pyjamas, that Jason can admit is kinda cute, and is wiping away what looks to be tears. Must have had a nightmare or something.
“Cooking.” Jason replied gruffly. Damian approaches the island he’s cooking on and stands on his toes to try and see what Jason is cooking. Once again he can admit the kid looked kinda cute with only just his head and little hands poking over the bench.
“Cooking what?” He asks softly and with genuine childlike curiosity, which is rare for Damian. Jason breathes out a sigh and walks over to the small table on the far side of the kitchen and pulls a chair up against the bench.
“Parsnip and onion fritters. Wash your hands and come grate the parsnips for me.” He usually would tell him to fuck off but the kid looks like he could use a distraction and he does love a mission.
Damian washes his hands, climbs up the chair and starts grating.
They slice and grate mostly in quiet, only breaking the silence to quietly giggle at each other's onion induced tears.
“Cooking?” The sound of a voice startles them both so badly Damian almost throws a parsnip and Jason damn near cuts his finger off. When they look up at the source, Cass is standing there with an eyebrow raised.
“Christ, Cassandra, you could have killed us.” Damian says as he lowers the parsnip. Jason huffs out a laugh.
“Again.” He mutters and doesn’t miss the nasty look Damian throws him. Cass only smirks and shrugs. She looks dishevelled but Jason chooses to ignore it. She wanders over to the island, inspects what they’re doing before sitting on one of the stools and pulling her phone out of her pocket. Jason and Damian share a look before continuing what they were doing.
They finally get through all the slicing and grating when Steph and Tim stumble in looking like they had not slept all week. Jason stops what he’s doing just to look at them judgingly.
“Where the fuck have you two been?” he asks like he doesn’t want to know. Steph groans and collapses into the stool next to Cass.
“We were out all night for a stake out that turned up nothing.” Jason makes a confused face at that and looks to Tim who is all but dragging himself to the coffee machine.
“I don’t even want to talk about it.” He says holding a hand up to block out Jason’s judgmental look. Stake outs like that happen, not often but they happen. But for Tim? It’s even less often, he gathers all the intel he can before going out. Make sense for his mood to be shit.
Jason can practically sense Damian is about to say something so he scoops him up by the armpits and places him onto the ground.
“Your jobs done now.” He tells him before the kid can protest. He only receives a slightly grumpy nod before Damian drags the chair back to its regular spot and sits down. Tim looks away from the coffee machine.
“Are you making breakfast?” He asks half judgy half genuine. Jason almost responds with some snarky sarcasm but just looking at Tim tells him the poor guy's exhausted brain would probably melt if he did.
“Yeah I am. Parsnip and onion fritters.”
Steph lifts her head from where it was laying against the kitchen island.
“What the fuck is a parsnip?” Jason chuckles and holds up one of the unused parsnips.
“It's like a white carrot thing. They taste good, trust me.” Steph eyes it suspiciously before shrugging and laying her head back down.
Duke runs in while Jason is mixing in the flour and eggs. He stops and looks at everyone surprised. To Duke’s credit it is rare for all of them to be in the same room for a non vigilante related reason. He looks at Jason and into the bowl.
“Hey, that looks great! I’m heading out to patrol but save me some for when I get back?” He says as he grabs an apple and speeds out of the kitchen without waiting for an answer. Jason files the information to save some away in his head before he continues mixing. He makes sure everything is evenly coated before heating up a pan and drizzling some vegetable oil onto it. He places as many scoops as he can evenly spread on the pan and waits until he can flip them.
The sizzly of the fritters and the oil almost covers up the sound of a new pair of feet entering the kitchen.
“Whatchya making, Jaybird?” This time he doesn’t jump at the sound of Dick’s voice coming from directly over his shoulder. Just by looking at Dick’s eyes tells Jason the eldest is floating in between a dissociation episode. He’s not really all there.
Jesus Christ, was he the only one who had a good night? Well, he doesn’t really know how Duke’s night went but with the way he was rushing to get on patrol, if Jason had to guess it would be probably not good.
“Parsnip and Onion fritters.” He replies while scanning the kitchen for what task he can give Dick to help him out.
“Hey, could you do the dishes for me? I wouldn’t want Alfred to wake up and find the kitchen a mess.” He asks softly. Jason doesn’t mention that Alfred is already up and upon seeing all of them in the kitchen, about ten minutes ago, gave Jason a soft smile and left to do whatever Alfred does when he’s not butlering.
Dick turns to where Jason points to the dishes and nods.
“Oh yeah, of course.” He says spacely. Jason fights the urge to fist pump. If he’s learnt anything it's if you wanna get Dick Grayson to help himself, you gotta guilt trip him a little bit. He does take the knife before Dick can add it to his washing pile. Yeah he’s got some less than moral helping tactics but he’s not gonna let the guy hurt himself.
Damian gets up to help Dick with the dishes and they make quiet conversation. With Damian occasionally yelling when Dick splashes him or tries to place bubbles on his head.
Jason hands the empty bowl to Dick before placing the last of the fritters onto one big plate. He quickly whips up a greek yogurt and herb dip sauce. He grabs out enough plates for everyone and places two on a plate for Duke before wrapping it with foil and placing them in the fridge. He then hands the remaining stack of plates to Dick.
“Alright losers follow if you want breakfast.” He calls out before heading into the proper dining room. Dick sets the table before taking one for himself.
Jason will never tell anyone but he did feel nervous waiting for everyone’s reaction.
“Wait, why is this good?”
“I can’t tell if these are good or if I’m just really fucking hungry.”
“These are really good Jaybird.”
He tried to hide the way the tension fell from his shoulders before digging into his own food. The atmosphere was good and it made Jason kinda miss moments like this. This sense of family and belonging. Just a family having breakfast together.
“Is there any left for me?” Bruce asks as he walks in. Jason looks up at him. He’s met with a proud look he hasn’t seen in what feels like a lifetime. He hides his face and gestures to an empty chair.
“Take a seat, old man.”
I hope the fic is a good as you guys imagined 🥰
here’s a special thanks to @kaycynyrs for sending in the ask that inspired me to look at this fic again and @yourlocal-edgelord for encouraging me to rewrite it and to @heavenssolitude for being there and supporting me 🥰
(i’ll totally untag you guys if you didn’t wanna be tagged. just wanted to say thanks)

Calling König's toddlers picky eaters is the understatement of the century, if there ever was one. The word picky does not even describe how abhorrent his children are when it comes to eating food. Unlike their father, who will virtually eat anything you put in front of him no matter if it is burnt or decayed due to how he was brought up with food being a limited supply, so he is just happy to eat for once (for context on how horrific be one time you found a whole ecosystem in a bowl in his fridge that smelt like complete rot and he said it was still fine to eat), they will refuse anything and if you dare bring new foods around them expect it to be thrown onto the floor. For weeks on end, they will refuse any other food but their current fixation, then randomly, their little minds decide one day that the food is now their greatest enemy and will refuse to eat it and anything else until they find their next fixation.
The foods they always like? The main ones are any type of fish or meat that was fried or breaded, cheese, or anything made of potatoes, cream, bread, pasta, and strawberries. The foods they always hate? The obvious ones, like most toddlers their age, are vegetables and fruits, but their hate list also includes anything new, slimy, or that smells or looks slightly off.
Given how picky they can be, König has had to become creative in getting them to eat a healthy diet.
Luckily, with having a well-paid job, a dodgy side hustle/”hobby”, and enough savings to make an average person have a heart attack König can afford to be able to get creative when he is cooking for his darlings. He will spend hours upon hours searching online for recipes and then perfecting them to make sure that the taste of vegetables will be unrecognisable so that they will finally eat them. No matter how hard or time-consuming it is, he continues to do it just because he knows it is the best for his toddlers and he can have nothing but the best for the lights of his life. After enough tests and trials with having his toddlers be his taste testers, he realised what worked best and spent thousands upon thousands of euros to get the equipment to continue doing this.
The first step König makes to put his big plan into action is to make deals with some local farmers and fishers at the market in one of the nearby villages or towns who will drop off fresh produce like meat, vegetables, fruits, grain, and dairy products for him and his kids to eat and in return, he pays them highly for both dropping off the food and giving him some of the best product. He also pays a few to help him set up his own mini farm in his garden so that he can grow a few things himself and with his toddlers so they appreciate their food more as they know where it comes from (if anyone is interested, I can expand on this idea). His next step is to order cookie cutters online, whether they be ones he had to have custom-made or ones he just found randomly when scrolling on some shopping site he had the recruits recommend him; the reason why he decides to order them is because he realised that his toddlers are more likely to eat their food or try new food if it is themed around their interests.
And, his final step is to redo his entire kitchen from the stove to the sinks to the fridge (he decides to get two double fridges rather than the single one he had before) while getting more utensils that are not the normal things like a spatula or grater as they are more appliances like food mixer for baking or a slow cooker or a rice cooker until his kitchen was full of cooking equipment. He had brought everything he could think of and that others at KorTac or online had recommended, even if it was over the top and had cost him tens of thousands of euros, but his children were worth it all, even if it was a bit of a sink in his pocket.
With his set-up complete and recipes at hand, König can begin cooking for his picky eaters. Due to his toddlers’ preference for fried food such as chicken nuggets, he will put the chicken through the grinder himself to make a paste into which he can put chopped vegetables such as onions, peppers, corn, or mushrooms into which he can then season and bread after using the cookie cutters to make special shapes such as dinosaurs or shark or stars or rockets, it just depends on his what his toddlers’ interests are. He makes tiny edits to most of the recipes, since he prefers to make the components by hand, to make them healthier so that his toddlers have all the nutrients they need so they do not suffer like he did as a child where certain nutrients were neglected in favour of others. König will then spend hours in the kitchen preparing his meals, never letting his toddlers see his crafty tricks that get them to be healthy, which he will then serve to them like it is their regular food.
Examples of the displays of main dishes he puts together for his toddlers are fried fish in the shape of sharks with vegetables cut out in the shape of fish and potatoes that look like coral as it is plated on a water/ocean-themed plate if the toddler’s interest is sharks or a mashed potato volcano with a broccoli forest and vegetable shavings grass with dinosaur nuggets running away as it is plated on a forest-themed plate if the toddler’s interest is dinosaurs or vegetable shavings grass with chicken nuggets in the shape of bunnies with potato fries in the shape of Easter eggs or carrots as it is plated on a grassland-themed plate if the toddler’s interest is bunnies as Miffy has been getting extremely popular or alien shaped chicken or fish nuggets with mashed potato meteors, vegetables shaped into planets or stars, and one massive fry in the shape of a rocket as it is placed on a galaxy-themed plate if the toddler’s interest is the stars and space. Normally, the main dishes will come with a side of any food group he does not add to the main dish, or it may be extras he thinks his toddlers will like but wants them to control the amount they have, like a mixture of cheese he shredded or others vegetables he cut up that they can use to break up their main meal or a fresh bun he had brought.
While the examples of desserts and snacks he makes for his toddlers are milk bread sandwiches with a filling of cream, jam, and fruits that are cut into any shapes his toddlers want that day, or he will use an ice cream machine he brought to make a more healthy version of ice cream that he will sneak more fruits into that he thinks will match the flavour (such as strawberries and blueberries or peaches added into vanilla ice cream or bananas added into vanilla ice cream) with frozen or dried fruit shavings as a topping or a snack they can chew on in the middle of the day or tiny, or little cupcakes filled with fruit pieces and topped with homemade cream that can fit into their tiny little hands as he uses cut up fruits to add features such as spines or bunny ears or marshmallows with details on like stars or paw prints or specially shaped pancakes that are decorated with fruits and whipped cream to give details to make it look like their interests like dinosaurs or cats.
But this is not everything. With the countless recipes he has, he can make countless displays so that his toddlers are never bored. He may substitute one ingredient for another if he wants his children to try new foods or if he wants to change the taste slightly to stop boredom. He may substitute and swap options for new variety or when he thinks his kids are lacking, as he just wants to make sure they are healthy and try any food possible.

Writing Notes: Cooking Basics
Baking and Roasting: Involve applying dry, radiant heat uniformly to food from all sides, using an oven or other indirect heat source
Boil: To heat liquid until bubbles break to the surface; to cook food in hot liquid, like water or stock, at a temperature of at least 212°F (100°C)
Broil: To use direct heat to cook
Coat: To cover entire surface with a mixture, such as flour or bread crumbs
Core: Using a sharp knife, remove the core/seeds of a fruit
Cream: To stir one or more foods until they are soft
Crisp-tender: Describes the “doneness” of vegetables when they are cooked only until tender and remain slightly crisp in texture
Cut in: To mix fat into dry ingredients using a pastry blender, fork or two knives, with as little blending as possible until fat is in small pieces
Dice: To cut into small, square-shaped pieces
Drain: To put food and liquid into a strainer (or colander), or to pour liquid out of a pot by keeping the lid slightly away from the edge of the pan and pouring away from you
Flute: To pinch the edge of dough, such as on a pie crust
Fold: To mix by turning over and over
Fork-tender: Describes the “doneness” of a food when a fork can easily penetrate the food
Frying: Cooks food fully submerged in hot oil
Grilling: Similar to roasting in that it uses radiant heat, but directly and at much higher temperatures, often reaching up to 500°F (260°C)
Knead: To mix by “pushing” and by folding
Marinate: To soak in a seasoned liquid to increase flavor and tenderness
Mince: To cut or chop food into small pieces
Mix: To combine ingredients using a fork or spoon
Oil: To apply a thin layer of vegetable oil on a dish or pan; vegetable spray may be used instead
Poaching: A method similar to boiling, in that it is a moist-heat method achieved in hot liquid, however it is executed at lower temperatures; poaching is done at a temperature between 160°F and 180°F (71-82°C)
Sauté: To cook in a small amount of fat or water, usually on the stove top
Scald: To heat milk until bubbles appear (bubbles should not be “breaking” on the surface)
Shred: To rub foods against a grater to divide into small pieces
Simmer: To cook at a temperature that is just below the boiling point; bubbles form slowly but do not reach the surface; it is achieved at a temperature of around 180°F-200°F (82-93°C)
Steam: To cook over boiling water; a moist-heat method that is achieved by allowing hot vapor generated from liquid to cook the food, and it’s considered one of the gentlest cooking methods
Stir fry: A method of cooking in which vegetables are fried quickly to a crisp-tender state while stirring constantly
Stock: Water in which vegetable(s) or meat has been cooked; stock liquid should be stored in the refrigerator

Cooking While Disabled
One of the things I miss most about being less disabled is cooking. It was one of my favorite things to do and something I've always been good at.
On good days there are things I can do that make it easier. It's not the same as before, but I hope that sharing what makes it possible for me to cook helps others who struggle with it.
Tips for cooking while disabled:
You can incorporate precooked food in your meals. For example, stir fry with precooked rice with the ingredients of your choice, or taking frozen pasta (like the ones with maybe sauce and a couple other things) or plain microwave pasta (I prefer these, but heat it first) and putting it in a pan adding other ingredients like vegetables, cheese, garlic, etc
If it comes frozen or canned that can really help. Frozen rice you can just microwave, frozen cut veggies and garlic and onions are good as well
Buy a chopper with different shaped blades, spiralizer, electric slicer/grater, food processor, or any appliance that will save you energy. Ideally machine washable. Stand mixers are also better than manual ones. Especially helpful if you have joint/wrist issues
You can always prepare ingredients ahead of time. I find that sometimes it helps to prep (chopping or mixing ingredients, etc) earlier in the day or even a day before. Then you can put it in the fridge or freezer until you're ready to cook the full meal
Look up easy recipes or recipes for elderly/seniors. With the latter you may find more nutritionally balanced food but an unbalanced easy meal is better than none
You can sit while you prepare ingredients.
You're allowed to take breaks. You can turn the stove off, maybe put a lid on it to retain the heat, sit down, maybe take something for your symptoms. Some things you may not be able to stop in the middle of like making pancakes or deep frying something, but if you're making soup or curry or chili or something, often you can turn it off for a bit and take care of yourself.
If you need help and can get it, please ask for help. I know many of us need to work on asking for help including myself. Even if it's just washing the pots and pans or chopping something. You are not a burden you hear me?
Stretch before and after cooking just as one would before a workout. It will likely lessen any joint pain or stiffness as you are still exerting yourself
Listen to your body. Just as you're allowed to take a break, you are allowed to decide you won't be able to finish what you're doing. You may put away your food before it's done (if this won't ruin the meal). You are allowed to leave a dirty pot in the sink and come back to it later (just make sure you or someone else does before it gets gross). You can wash them in the dishwasher. I know this is bad for the seasoning on pots and pans but you can reseason them to be nonstick again and use nonstick spray
You can buy seasoning mixes rather than using individual seasoning. Instead of parsley, oregano, basil, etc you can buy Italian seasoning. Instead of paprika, pepper, cumin, oregano, salt, etc, you can just get taco seasoning. This may sound obvious but it can save a lot of time and energy
An issue I have is buying perishable ingredients thinking I can use them, having a bad week or two, and the ingredients have gone bad. Try to plan out your meals before shopping and ask yourself if there's an easier alternative for any ingredients. Maybe pre chopped fresh onion instead of a whole one, sliced mushrooms instead of whole, frozen vegetable blends instead of individual, powdered ginger instead of the root, bullion instead of stock that you may not be able to use all at once. I know this is like one of the other points but these are what I find most helpful
Use supercook.com! You input the ingredients you have on hand and you'll get a list of recipes you can make with what you have. Often there's a wide range of complexity and difficulty
Make enough food to freeze or refrigerate leftovers. It helps if you can portion it into single servings in Tupperware or freezer bags. You can prepare frozen burritos for your next few lunches or dinners, separate portion sizes of spaghetti, portion salads, etc
Feel free to add any additions!

all my haters become taters when i 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon onion powder ¼ teaspoon dried oregano ¼ teaspoon dried dill Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste 3 cups vegetable oil 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves Place potatoes in a Dutch oven and cover with cold salted water by 1 inch. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, until parboiled, about 6-7 minutes; drain well and let cool. Using a box grater, finely shred potatoes. Using a clean dish towel or cheese cloth, drain potatoes completely, removing as much water as possible. Transfer potatoes to a large bowl. Stir in flour, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano and dill; season with salt and pepper, to taste. The mixture should be workable but dry. Form potatoes into tots. Heat vegetable oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium high heat until it registers 360 degrees F on a deep-fry thermometer. Working in batches, add tots to the Dutch oven and cook until evenly golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.*

FFXIV Write #23 - On Cloud Nine
FFXIV Write 2024 Master Post
Prompt #23 - On Cloud Nine
Tumblr media
Briar hummed softly to himself as he worked. Since the injury to his throat, he couldn't manage a 'typical' hum but instead a quiet trilling sound. E'mal thought it sounded rather like a bird's song. The Viera was sitting on Baatu's counter, ankles crossed and kicking gently as he watched the slim half-Elezen bustle around the borrowed kitchen.
Briar looked happy. His strawberry blond curls were up in a messy bun and he had flour smudged on his cheek. His hands were coated as well while he worked and kneaded a large mound of dough with surprisingly strong fingers. The half-Elezen looked up at E'mal and smiled at him, green eyes bright and cheerful as he trilled his little wordless song.
"So what are you making again?" E'mal asked, leaning a bit to see.
Briar paused in his kneading to point at a few bowls. One held a green vegetable chopped into fine bits. The other was some cheese. Curious, E'mal reached for a bit of the vegetable, pausing when Briar made a little huff. He made a little gesture, fingers near his mouth and wiggling them sharply.
"Oh, spicy?" E'mal said, eyeing the vegetables. "Are those peppers?" As he spoke, he gestured as well, hands making smooth motions.
Briar nodded, looking pleased. He nodded to the cheese and then the grater, looking at E'mal hopefully. The Viera chuckled. "All right, I can shred that," he chuckled, still speaking with his hands as well. Hopping down, he went to stand by Briar, working the cheese over the metal. He glanced down when Jack whined, tapping his leg with a white paw and grinning hopefully up at E'mal. Ignoring Briar's faux huff of disapproval, he tossed the sheepdog a bite of cheese.
"So spicy cheese bread?" E'mal hummed thoughtfully. "Zansei will be on cloud nine!"
Briar paused and gave a puzzled frown. He tapped his temple and made a whirling gesture with his hands. He added a questioning sound as he tipped his head at E'mal.
"Huh? What are you confused about? Oh!" E'mal laughed. "The saying. Um, on cloud nine means very happy. Zansei loves spicy food and who doesn't like cheese?" When Briar gestured again, E'mal giggled. " You know, I have no idea about the other eight clouds. And no idea why that is the saying. It just is."
Briar grunted and shook his head, starting to add the peppers and cheese into the mixture and working it. E'mal grinned at him, ears shooting up as the chronometer chimed. "Oh! That's the cranberry-orange bread, isn't it? I'll set that out to cool."
Hands busy, Briar mouthed a quick 'thank you' as he started to shape the second loaf he was making. Hopefully, between nice citrus-sweet and spicy-savoury choices, both Baatu and Zansei would indeed be on 'cloud nine' and glad they didn't have to worry about making dinner tonight. Considering they'd taken their children to the beach, they were likely to come back exhausted and Briar was quite pleased to help make homecoming less worrisome.
With any luck, he had time to get Baatu's beloved kitchen spotless before they arrived.

Your Kunikida x reader was so sweet/well written! May I request Kunikida with an s/o (GN or fem) who's having a stressful time with eating right/properly...maybe they could be in a cooking or shopping together scenario? If the topic isn't one you're comfortable writing about, please don't worry about it!
Doppo Kunikida x reader
Tumblr media
awwww! thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and was actually inspired to build off that story for a part 3! [part i, part ii ]
“How do you not have anything in your fridge?” Literally.
Kunikida had never seen a fridge so bare outside of an appliance showroom. Save for a few meager condiments, a single egg, one bunch of green onion (which had seen better days), and coffee creamer, it was completely empty.
“Uh...because I’m never here?” [Y/N] replied as they came out of the bedroom. “I’m never here that often, and it’s not like dad rents this place out when I’m not around. There’s no point in doing grocery shopping when I’m not going to be here that long as I’m usually out to dinner with him or friends, or just get take out.”
Kunikida frowned. As ‘sound’ as that argument was, he still couldn’t believe they didn't have any real food in their house. “You need to take better care of your diet. For your health.”
“What? You think my ‘health’ is suffering?” She flashed him a smile and lifted the bottom of her tank top & lowered the band on her bottoms to show off her body.
Kunikida had to gulp and turn away. He would not be distracted. “Come on. We’re going to the store. I can’t leave you alone like this with no reasonable means to feed yourself.” [Y/N] groaned but put up little more for an argument as they went to change.
The trip to the store was easy enough. At this time of day there weren’t many people. Just seniors and young mothers with their children too little for daycare. Kunikida glanced at them, then back at [Y/N]. Imagining, if just for a moment, a life where this could be their routine every Sunday.
Once the shopping was done, they head back to [Y/N]’s apartment and start cooking. “You know, we could have had food by now if we just ordered it.” She playfully grumbled. Cleaning the green beans as instructed beside him, while Kunikida diced some onion and put it in the pan with the chicken.
“Home cooked meals are better for you. You can get more of the ideal nutrients & vitamins needed for ideal health.”
“Yeah, along with all the work and gross wrinkly fingers when you have to wash the dishes.” Despite himself, Kunikida scoffed. “Why are you so worried about my health & diet? You’ve never shown an interest before.”
“I have!” He was offended now. He always encouraged her to get a salad or more vegetables when they went out. She just never listened to him. “It’s just…I’m here now. And you shouldn’t eat take out for every meal.”
“You know I cook my own meals when I’m back at school, right? I have a cheese grater and everything.” He doesn’t comment. Instead focusing more on the pan in front of him, as if should he take his eyes off it for a second it would burn. “Is that what this is about? Your bummed I’m going back soon?”
“I’m not ‘bummed’.” Kunikida insisted. He would never use that word. Devastated, depressed, desolate, those were all words he would use. “I just want to make sure you’re taken care of when I’m not around to do it for you.”
[Y/N] gave him a slight, listless smile, then wrapped her arms around his middle from behind. “I can take care of myself, you know.” She raised up on her toes to kiss his neck. “But…I appreciate the assist. It’s not for much longer. I’ll be finished with my program in another year, and I’ll be back for good.”
Kunikida whipped around and wrapped his arms around her to give her a full kiss. Overcome with emotion. Every time she came and left was getting harder for him. This….void she left when she was gone was getting wider & wider. The thought that soon she’d be here, within arm’s reach, every single day just filled him with so much joy that he had to express it.
“Kunikida…” Her voice was breathless in his ear as she clung to him. “…the chicken…”
“Fuck the chicken.” He growled back. Nothing else was as important as kissing her right now. They’d get takeout like she wanted anyway.
The two of them continue their kissing, quickly escalating into something more, when [Y/N] suddenly pushed him back. Kunikida had to catch himself on the counter to not fall on the floor. He was about to ask her ‘what the hell’ before his blood ran cold. “Oh…hi Daddy…”
“P-President….”
Nothing could have made this situation more awkward or worse as a tense moment settled neatly between all 3 of them.
Then the smoke alarm went off.

Reader dosent like showing theyre anger so they release theyre anger alone and got caught by them one day (maybe even caught violently stabbing raw chicken and vegetables while making dinner hahshs)
(Sorry this was long)
You good?
diluc, childe, thoma x gn reader. crackfic
thanku for ur request! Hope u like it🫶🏽 Thomas one is so fluffy☠️ can yall tell i love him
Tumblr media
Diluc
Flowery, angelic, soft. Those were the 3 descriptors diluc would often tell people when they would enquire about you, his s/o. You were like a saint, always understanding, talking to the children of the town, picking flowers for him everyday.
So why were you angrily cursing at a pile of burnt cookies in the kitchen?
Diluc had just gotten home from his nightly batman duties and was concerned when you didn't reply to his usual, "I'm home, dear."
He heard a commotion in the kitchen.
"I swear on the 7 fucking archons, if this next batch of cookies doesn't turn out perfect I will actually kill someone."
Diluc's eyes widened. What was going on in there? He had to see if everything was alright. He slid the door to the kitchen open.
"Dear? Is everything oka-"
"holy shit- oh hey honey! Welcome home! How was your day, love?"
Momentarily ignoring your change in vocabulary, he took a scan throughout the kitchen. A burnt mountain of chocolate chip cookies stood there on the counter.
"I, uh. I see that you're baking cookies..."
"Mhm! I got a little bored, all the ingredients I needed were all here so I thought of making something sweet for you!"
"I see, thank you darling. It seems like you're having...some trouble? I've never heard you so frustrated dear, though I must say it is quite amusing."
He said chuckling, he walked over to the burnt cookies and took out a...cheese grater? He walked back to you and pushed the cookies and grater toward you, was he expecting you to do something with this orrrr?
"Adelinde taught me this trick, if you have burnt your cookies, just grate the charred sides and it will look and taste perfect."
"Shit, really? Thanks love!"
He has no clue how your choice of words can go from vulgar to sweet and loving, but he finds it kinda hot.
Childe
You and childe were polar opposites. He was a bloodthirsty son of a bitch and you were caring and nurturing, against violence and hate.
The people of Snezhnaya have no clue how the two of you got together but hey, it seems like it's working out well.
Whenever you and your boyfriend would go out for dates, people would hesitantly greet the two of you so they don't get put on the Fatui's hit list. You noticed this, however, and decided to tell people that you aren't going to hurt or put in a bad word about them. After awhile, everyone was happy to see you waltz into their shop, taking a look around and initiating small talk.
Today, you had asked childe to help you with physical combat, he gladly accepted of course.
He brought you to his usual practice area so he could teach you tricks on a dummy. Practice went well, you managed to build up stamina and strength in your arms.
"Phew! You learn quick babe! Let's take a break, wait here I'll go get us some drinks."
He pressed a kiss on your forehead and walked out of the practice grounds. You decided to practice a little more while waiting for him.
You were fired up. Landing hits and punches on the dummy like it was your worst enemy.
"Fuckin' bitch."
A kick to the head.
"Argh! Yeah that's right, cry little fucker!"
A punch to the jaw.
This was fun! It's a great stress reliever too.
While you were cursing at the poor dummy, unbeknownst to you, your lovely boyfriend was standing behind a wall giggling at your vulgar choice of words.
He had come back 3 minutes ago, no harm in watching his precious s/o completely obliterate his training dummy right?
"I didn't know you were such a fighter [name]! You can land hits physically and mentally, very impressive sweets."
You flushed the moment you saw childe walk to you.
"Don't you dare tell anyone about this. I was in the zone."
Childe chuckled and passed you your drink,
"Ok ok! You're really cute when you get all fired up ya' know?"
Thoma
Ah my sweet sweet boy. He thought he knew everything about you, that you two were made for eachother. Imagine his shock when he sees you repeatedly stabbing a boiled chicken while cursing at it.
Where did the soft and loving [name] go? Is the chicken okay? (Obviously not since it's boiled but thoma is too concerned to think logically.) He remembered you saying that you'd be the one making dinner today, he's never seen this kind of cooking method before. Ah! Maybe you're using a technique from...what's his name? Gordon Rambly? Corden Ramsly?
He jumped out his thoughts and rushed to your side, worried that you might stab your hand accidentally.
"[name]! What's going on?? Are you alright?"
"Oh! Thoma! Thank the archons, please help me. This dumb crusty ass of a chicken won't cook properly! I've been trying to make it nice and tender but IT KEEPS. GETTING. STIFF."
Thoma's eyes went wide as frisbees.
"Ah! [name], mind your language! People can hear you! And, the water has got to boil on medium heat, you set it way to high!"
"I DID SET IT ON THE STUPID MEDIUM HEAT THINGY. IT'S THE FUCKING CHICKENS FAULT!"
"Shh! Okok, come here. Calm down.."
He pulled you in for a warm hug, immediately your mind went blank at your anger dissipated. You felt him press a kiss to the crown of your head and you blushed.
"Sorry, I've just been a little irritated today.."
He laughed and held you closer.
"It's ok love. Come on, let's make dinner together!"
"But I wanted to make this awesome meal for you so you could relax...now you have to do all this. Sorry.."
He lifted your chin with his thumb and index finger, his gaze soft and loving.
"I am always at peace when I'm with you, love. No matter how mad you get."
He mumbled the last part but you heard it and giggled, leaving him a sweet kiss on the lips.

the first of my cooking posts!
Lemon and parsely orzo
this is something i make all the time, along with variations on it. it's fairly easy to just swap certain ingredients while keeping the method the same so you can get some different meals while basically being the same stuff.
Orzo is essentially if rice was pasta. i know that not everyone likes the texture but i find it really tastie. also there are probably more traditional ways of cooking orzo but this is just how i like it.
Prep time is minimal if you're not cutting any vegetables/using preprepared veg, probably no longer than 10 minutes (for me at least, I know some people will have different timings)
Cook time is roughly 30-40 minutes, this is something i make for dinner and not when I'm in a rush to get to lectures
Price wise, this is specific to my area really, and also i shop at lidl so things might be cheaper (the orzo was from sainsburys but i didnt pay for that so)
Orzo from sainsburys (500g bag) - £2 ,
lidl prices - cream 99p , chicken stock 65p , cream cheese 85p, butter £1.69 , frozen peas 99p , red leicester cheese £2.49, carrots (1kg bag) 65p
i can't find the prices for parsley, garlic powder or lemon juice but those are things that i have in my store cupboard type ingredients.
Equipment
one singular frying pan, something to stir with, a measuring jug/literally any container that can hold liquid, cheese grater (or your hands if you like maiming the cheese)
Ingredients
Tumblr media Tumblr media
75g (ish) of Orzo
a couple chunks of butter
chicken stock in some boiled water (this is something you can swap, vegetable stock etc)
vegetables of your choosing (i used a carrot and some frozen peas)
garlic (i used garlic powder), salt and pepper
parsely and lemon juice (this is the main combo for this, but you can change this out if youre using vegetable stock. When i use other stock i use mixed herbs instead of parsely and lemon)
cream cheese , regular cheese (doesnt matter what type)
cream
Method
heat the butter in the frying pan on a medium heat, and add the orzo when its melted. let the orzo absorb some of the butter
Tumblr media
add the stock and water, along with the carrots if you're using those. (if youre using something like mushrooms, fry those first before adding the orzo until they've shrunken down and nice and brown)
Tumblr media
add some garlic powder, salt and pepper (check before adding the salt, the stock will probably be salty enough)
let the liquid boil and then turn down the heat to low/medium and just let it bubble away. the packages usually say it takes 10 minutes but they're lying and itll probably take 30 minutes (it does for me anyways)
when the orzo is nearly ready (when its ready itll be all soft), add the peas or whatever veg youre using. green beans could probably be another good sub.
Tumblr media
the water will absorb into the orzo, so if the liquid starts getting low and its still crunchy then add some more water.
add the lemon juice and parsely
leave it for a couple minutes to absorb some more.
grate some cheese in
this is optional but you can stop here if you want, but i like to add some cream cheese and some cream just to make it nice and slop.
Tumblr media
Yummy :)
