The circumstances surrounding Cassius' "death" (disappearance) were incredibly muddled and hard to follow even for the people who were involved... It all happened late at night in the middle of a snowstorm, visibility was low, an apparently unrelated party (Cockerel) getting a broken nose, and an apparent thousand other coincidences leading to the death of both Cassius and his father. The issue: only the body of Christopher Turever Jr. - Cassius' father - was recovered! This led to a strange cooperation between Edgar and Cassandra - the new "co-"proprietor of the local newspaper (though she had been managing the place for a while up to this point) - aiming to cover up whatever really happened in the favour of pushing a narrative that Cassius was the man to die that day. It was an easier story to push, yes, Cassius' apparent depression was visibly worsening, as opposed to the apparently stable Christopher... What if the people cried murder!? Not to mention Cassius (once) was a valued member of the community - imagine the paper sales!...

anyway here's a funny image where neither of them can know if they'll get away with it since neither of them can see Christopher's face ... I do imagine they succeed but I don't know if it's really THAT important? It's fun to consider though. Edgar and Cassandra get along surprisingly well, but maybe it was just the circumstance. They stopped talking after the funeral was officially past...

cassie sandsmark star jorts from issue #23 of yj98 you have always been famous to me

(before pic + additional photos and unnecessary ramblings under the cut)

I made these jorts in 22 hours over the course of 3 days! pure willpower via my love for cassie sandsmark because I am a total novice in sewing and i am still not very good at it. (i really just combined various tutorials and improvised on measurements and then regretted improvising measurements later on).

I thrifted these jeans last year for cassie vibes (even though I had already made her star-spangled red bellbottoms at that point) and wasn't a fan of how they fit + I couldn't figure out how to style them. I enjoyed sewing in the panels to flare them out and then everything else (cargo pockets and sewing in stars) was hell <3

the pockets are not placed well (nor are they particularly well-made), the hem is uneven, the stars are quite janky (and I think I stitched on too many), I probably stabbed my fingers a million times, and I am so in love with them

Really big fan of whenever Batman uses his cape to shield/comfort the people he protects:

the rest of caped Batfam members doing it too.

- when rescued victims cling to them for a while, they use the capes like shock blankets. Injured kids hiding under Robin's/Batgirl's cape while they wait for paramedics to arrive.

- teammates and younger heroes huddle up under their capes to rest when tired or injured (LISTEN they really didn't mean to fall asleep. It's not their fault that they just had an adrenaline crash and that the batkid's presence was kind of comforting sHUT UP)

- BUT ALSO for the older Batfam members: they may be too big to properly fit under their younger sibling's smaller cape. But imagine waking up on the ground after you got knocked out from taking a bad hit. You immediately know you’re not in danger anymore, because one of your younger siblings is shielding your face from noise/light/rain with their cape. It makes the concussion more bearable while you wait for the medevac to arrive. You’re taken care of. You’re gonna be fine.

Absolute Superman rescuing a young girl from a fire, a child named Donna Troy who only survived because of her powers. The child, like him an orphan, the two bond as comrades.

I sort of still need to redo a couple more but eeeeek I don't wanna maybe. I'll probably come back and reblog with them later or something. HAHA

i'm not crying, i'm just remembering the episode of the librarians where cassandra leaves for a while after a bad artifact retrieval and jenkins is worried about her the entire time and then it's her memory of him that helps her through a panic attack and at the end he takes her home gushing about how extraordinary she is

Thinking about that one "Bat Cass and Robin Bruce" image from Cass Anon again.

I imagine this adult Cass was like, a marital arts instructor, a mentor to the young Bruce, when the Waynes took that turn down the alley.

Cass was probably already a vigilante, likely being supported by her friends/loved ones (Doctor Steph, Engineer Harper, ect).

Cass saw Bruce doing stupid shit, trying to get strong in the wrong ways, and decided to help Bruce hone the rage and the desire for justice into something useful, keep him from making mistakes (and/or keep him from killing himself or others).

Bruce probably latched onto her hard, probably accidently called her mom at points, which Cass has mixed feelings on.

Alfred likes Cass in a "professional respect" way, and the two become friends over the years.

Shiva.... Not sure when she plays into this. Will think on that.

Harper and Steph view Bruce as a fun nephew, help with science and medical training, plus building some gadgets (mostly Bruce's ideas, since Cass did not use gadgets before meeting Bruce).

I think Cass was raised by Jeff and Tatsu in this AU? Like they rescued her from Cain. Will think on that.
