In my head James always 'disliked' Regulus by extension of Sirius (before the brothers reconciled) and would absolutely have negative feelings towards Reg bc of this - but then by accident, somehow, maybe in the halls or idk JUST BY ANY CIRCUMSTANCE they speak for the first time, and James is like, fuck. Because hating him is now not so easy. And all Regulus did was call him an idiot and shove him with his shoulders as he walked past.
