You knew you couldn’t tell them. Not now. Not when you were living with them only for a few weeks. They would definitely send you back into an orphanage house. Just where you came from.
Sirius Black and Remus John Lupin.
Sirius Black and Remus John Lupin.
Sirius Black and Remus John Lupin.
Funny names. And even funnier people. The gay couple was so fun to be around and you felt comfortable in their company, yet, you still couldn’t fully relax.
It took 3 years of visits, courts and paperwork to adopt you, and it still wasn’t done. Long story short: you only saw Sirius and Remus only twice in a month and only for two hours. So you could get used to them. And now you were living with them. And you were scared.
From 4 hours in a month right into 24/7. Life is funny sometimes.
You felt so hot, sweat was forming on your temple and you felt like throwing up any minute. Your fingers tightly gripped the spoon as you tried not to throw up from the smell of eggs and bacon for breakfast right into your plate.
Sirius turned around from the kitchen range and was about to put another bacon on your plate, but seeing your sickly sweaty face stopped him. “You alright, flower?” he asked with a serious face while he held the pan in his hand. He shook you out from your overthinking world and you looked up at him. Suddenly all those sounds and voices became more clear.
He was a charming, funny (older) man.
He wore a silk bathrobe with colorful birds on it, loosened shorts and top. His curly black hair had one gray hair lock and he looked like a mess. Even his beard wasn’t brushed. And don’t get me wrong with the hair lock, he isn’t old. He is the perfect man in his late 30’s, he just got some gray hair.
Remus on the other hand was already in his daily-wearing clean clothes and his hair were tidy and all fluffy.
“Mhm.” you nodded and gave a fake reassuring smile. You didn’t want him to worry about it, nor them putting you back. So you chose to lie. Lies are good.
Remus carefully listened to the whole conversation behind his newspaper and after your not-convincing mhm decided to give you his all attention and put the newspaper down. He watched you so carefully, from toe to head.
“You sure?” Remus asked and you nodded as you took the beacon into your hands. “Lovebug, but you don’t look like, come ‘ere.” Sirius moved closer to you and carefully placed his big palm over your hot forehead. “Shit, you’re burning up…” Sirius said more to Remus than to himself or to you.
“Show me.” Remus urged and placed the back of his hand on your sweating temple. Remus scrunched his eyebrows and narrowed his eyes. You huffed and tried to chew on your bacon in peace.
“Sirius gimme your forehead.” Remus said and placed his other hand on his lover’s forehead. Sirius quickly did the same and at that moment you all made a small triangle.
“She’s burning up, you don’t have the same temperature as her.” Remus pointed out. “I know, she really is.”
“I’m not burning out.” you rasped with rolling your eyes and quickly got up from their touch. As soon as you are gone, that longer you can keep them in your game that you’re not sick. Plus, how were you supposed to tell them that you’re sick?
“You going to school already?” Remus surprisingly asked as he leaned in his chair so he could see you in the hall and how you’re getting into your shoes.
“Yes.” You gave him a one-word answer.
“We can take you there, lovebug.” Remus smiled at you and shook your head. “I’m fine, thank you.” you said and grabbed the keys they gave you. It was just three keys on a key ring. Reminder that you have home now. You smiled for yourself through your headache and Remus saw it. Even through your rolling eyes and raspy voice, he knew he was doing a good job with you. Warm spread through his whole body and all he wanted to do was run to you and hug you.
“Have a great day then, sweetheart!” Sirius called and interrupted yours and Remus’ thoughts.
“Thank you, you too.” You politely replied and went on walk to your fifteen minutes away school.
“She didn’t look well.” Sirius turned to his husband. “I noticed. I’m going to prepare some items for her when she comes back.” Remus made a list of things for your sickness in his head.
“Just be on the phone. Maybe she will call that she doesn’t feel well or maybe her teacher.” Sirius worried himself. Remus saw how his face was twisted in worries and he could hear his worried thoughts. Remus took Sirius’ hand in his and stroked his knuckles. “My dearest, I promise you everything will be alright.” Remus gave him a reassuring smile and kissed Sirius hand. Like back in those days. And Sirius blushed, like back in those days.
But no one was ready for the call that was only a few hours in future.
You felt your head pounding, you could even hear your heart in your ears. Your headache was getting worse and worse and sweat was forming on your forehead. You were sitting in the school library, trying to eat your lunch that Sirius made for you and read some book, but it was hard to focus. You felt like throwing up any minute and you were still coughing.
“Y/n!” Maria, your new friend, snapped her fingers in front of your eyes. You quickly blinked and looked at her and how one of her dreadlocks fell in front of her face from her messy lower bun.
“You alright?” She asked with her soft voice. She crouched down and looked into your eyes.
“I’m okay, I’m fine,” you tried to smile at her but it was a bit harder.
“Uhu, okay, let’s go, biology starts in four minutes.” Maria gave you a warm smile and handed you her hand. You gladly accept it and let her bring you up.
“Biology is gonna be so much fun, Miss Smith told us that we should talk about clouds today…” Maria continued with talking about today’s biology class, but your ears started to ring and your vision got blurry.
“Y/N!”
Remus’ breath hitched as he hung up the phone. He blinked a few times to ground himself and looked up. “Love? Is everything alright?” Sirius asked. “Get in the car.” Remus rasped. “What?” Sirius knitted his eyebrows together. He was halfway done with his outfit for today. Some linen pants with so many strange symbols and with simple black shoes he had from his teenage years.
“She… she…” Remus panicked and grabbed his wand. “Accio keys!” He shouted and in a second there were keys in his hand. “Remus! What happened?!” Sirius yelled at his husband and he quickly grabbed his hand. “We don’t have any time. Get in the car!” Remus dragged his husband from the house to their car.
Remus quickly ran around the car and sat into his seat, turning the motor on. Remus drove fast, heading to the hospital.
“Remus what happened?!” Sirius barked out. “She passed out at school…” Remus whispered and drove into the hospital parking lot.
Sirius ran into the hospital like a snowslip. Remus quickly behind him.
“Good afternoon, how can I help you?” The nurse behind the reception table smiled at them. “Where’s my daughter-” Sirius breathed out and tried to catch his breath. “I’m so sorry, we are looking for our daughter. Y/N Williams.” Remus explained and the nurse lady typed something on the computer. Williams was a simple ordinary last name the state gave you. Because you couldn’t be a kid without a last name.
“Only Y/N Williams we admitted today is Y/N with three last names.” The lady looked up from her seat at them with her left eyebrow raised. Remus and Sirius looked at each other, confusion written all over their faces.
“Are the last names Lupin and Black?” Remus asked with a hope in his voice, with hope that he accidentally didn’t run into the wrong hospital.
“Yes! That’s it! Do you want to see her?” The lady smiled at them and both of them quickly nodded. “The school called us that she passed out, is she still…” Remus didn’t even dare to finish his sentence. “Yes, she was. She quickly told paramedics her last names with ‘They might ask for their names.’,” the lady chuckled and got closer to your room. “The doctor is still examining her, but it looks like she has the flu.” The lady explained and knocked on your door. “Please wait here.” She said before she entered your room.
“A flu?” Sirius questioned and looked at Remus. Remus quickly grabbed his hand and tangled his fingers. “How could we be so blind…” Remus sighed. Sirius opened his mouth to say something but the nurse got from your room with a doctor behind her back.
“Black and Lupin?” The doctor asked and they both nodded. “Yes, that’s us, where is the teacher? There should be her teacher…” Sirius looked all around the room, looking for your teacher.
“Once the hospital accepts a patient, we, as the hospital and attending doctors, take responsibility over the patient.” The doctor explained with a calming voice, knowing how much parents can be nervous, especially new parents. “Your daughter is now okay, she has the flu and is a little bit dehydrated.” The doctor explained. Remus and Sirius couldn’t believe it. They always made sure you had enough to drink and food. They might have missed the flu, but not your needs.
“But we-”
“It’s okay. Look,” the doctor started and raised her hand with the patient's report. “Your daughter told me everything. That you adopted her, that you are brilliantly taking care of her,” the doctor looked at Sirius and fondled her paper. “That you’re funny.” She said when she was Sirius half pajamas outfit with linen pants. Sirius chuckled and nodded.
“And she also told me about her feelings. It’s totally normal to feel like that, from what I heard, she’s anxious, everything is new. I promise you that you didn’t miss anything. The flu takes a lot from her body and that’s where the dehydration comes from, she was scared to ask for more water…” the doctor sadly smiled. You were a really nice patient. A little bit scared to talk, preferring non verbal answers. Shy, a lot.
“Bloody hell…” Remus cursed. “You might see her, come in, please.” The doctor opened the door to your room.
Remus and Sirius were met with your shy anxious face. They both gave you one of their sweet smiles. “We will leave you alone.” The nurse lady smiled and closed the door behind her.
“Hi there, lovebug.” Remus sat down next to your bed, while Sirius sat down to your bed, next to your legs. Like a loyal dog.
“Hello.” you barely whispered with your shaky voice.
Because that was it. That was the part when they will tell you that they don’t want a sick kid. You didn’t want to walk in circles. That would be only false hopes. So you ripped off the patch with a question “Are you gonna send me back?” your voice broke at the end of the question, tears filling your tears. You were just so exhausted from hoping that someone would want you.
Sirius’ face fell when he saw your tears and quickly got closer to you. “What? No! What are you talking about?” Sirius quickly took your hand in his and shook his hand while looking at Remus. “Sweetheart, what are you talking about?” Remus asked. There were worries and love in his voice. You could feel it and that’s what scared you. It was new and you never felt it. It could disappear in a minute.
The feeling of losing Remus and Sirius scared you. You started crying even more and you didn’t even know why.
“Hey hey, shh, it’s okay, come here.” Sirius quickly pulled you into his hug, wrapping his arms around so tightly. Sirius rested his chin on your head and looked at Remus. They comforted a lot of people in their life, but they never comforted a kid before. Their kid.
Remus leaned closer and touched your arm, slowly rubbing the place. And you let them both to comfort you.
“It’s okay to cry, alright? Just let it all out.” Remus whispered and you continued crying into Sirius’ silk colorful bathrobe. Maybe that was something you needed, after all.
“Can you, please, tell us what’s happening in your pretty head?” Remus asked when your cries turned into sniffles. Sirius turned you around in his arms so you could face Remus, stroking your hot cheek. You coughed a couple of times before trying to speak. “Here, I got you.” Remus handed you a paper tissue and you blew your nose.
“Take your time, okay? We have all the time.” Remus reassured you while taking your hot hand in his. You sniffled one more and leaned against Sirius’ chest more. “You’re okay, lovebug.” Sirius whispered while continuing stroking your cheek.
“Whe-when I w-was…” you weren’t able to talk through your hiccups and sniffles.
“Shh, it’s okay, don’t rush, take a deep breath, it’s okay, we’re gonna wait for you, okay?” Remus reassured you once again and stroked your knuckles with his thumb.
“When I was younger… there was a family who wanted me, but I got sick and they…” you started. You made the story as short as possible. “And they put you back?” Remus asked and finished your story. You only nodded and let some tears fall from your eyes.
“Flower, I promise you that this won’t happen with us. You’re meant to be taken care of when you’re sick, not to put you back.” Remus explained and you cried out. The love. Parents’ love. Something you feel for the first time.
“We’re gonna take care of you now, alright?” Sirius whispered and you nodded. “Pinky promise that we won’t put you back.” Sirius joked and showed you his pinky, Remus did the same, both of them waiting for you to intertwine their fingers. And you did. You made your first pinky promise ever. You made your first pinky promise with your first parents. Ever.
Remus looked at you both and smiled for himself. He could get used to it. And he’s pretty sure he will.
Remus chuckled and you both looked at him. “You should tell us that you don’t feel well. Well, at least you know how our hospital looks.” he said and you giggled, earning another cough.
“Can we talk now?” The doctor entered your room and Remus with Sirius nodded.
“Hate to say it like that, but welcome to quarantine.” The doctor handed you three face masks. “Since your daughter has the flu, it’s our responsibility to inform you about quarantine. You’re obliged to stay in quarantine for two weeks, or,” she raised her point finger. “Or until you all feel better.” the doctor looked at you.
“Here is your medical prescription.” The doctor handed Remus the small paper. “And I would like to talk with one of you if I can.” She said and took Remus by side, explained the whole quarantine and how to use your meds.
The nice nurse lady entered the room and handed you the hospital jelly. “What is it?” you asked as you held the plastic cup in your hand. “You never had hospital jelly?” Sirius looked down at you.
“Do I look like I’ve ever been to the hospital before?” you raised your eyebrows at him. “Damn,” he sighed. “You’re missing a lot. The jelly is delicious.” Sirius said and opened the plastic cup. “He’s right, it’s really delicious.” The nurse said and handed you a spoon.
You dig into the jelly form, examining the weird jiggly form. Sirius laughed and you ate it. The sweet flavour melting on your tongue.
“I fucking love it.” you whispered and they both laughed.
“You can go now, but it’s really important to rest.” The nurse said and turned to Sirius. “She tired her body so much that she passed out, make sure she’s resting for as many days as possible.” The nurse explained and looked at you.
“Where’s your jelly?” She asked. There was no evidence left behind after the jelly in the plastic cup. “I ate it, it was really good.” you admitted with a smile.
She smirked at you and turned around, grabbing another cups and handing them to you. “Aren’t these for other kids?” Sirius asked. “Fuck these kids. They are getting on my nerves and they don’t deserve any hospital jelly like your Jelly does.” She referred to you and Sirius held his laugh. “Here, take them.” She handed Sirius’ another cups. “Thank you then.” Sirius thanked her and stood up, helping you to get into your jacket.
Sirius was sitting in his car, with thirty jellies in his tote bag. “Hey Y/N, I was thinking about watching all the movies you always wanted to see but you never got the opportunity and what do you think?” Remus asked. But there was no response from you. “Y/N?” he asked and Sirius turned around to look at you and laughed.
You were blacked out, deep in your slumber in the car backseat, head leaning against the window with your mouth ajar. And you were still holding the hospital jelly and spoon in your hand.
Remus parked the car in front of the house and carefully opened your door, holding your side so you couldn’t fall. “Do you want some help?” Sirius asked and got your school bag. “No, I got her, thank you.” Remus politely thanked and scooped you into his arms. You were still holding the jelly and spoon from your sleep.
“I can’t believe she used our last names.” Sirius happily grinned and unlocked the door. Remus carefully took you to your room, softly placing you on the bed. Sirius followed you and then carefully took your jelly and spoon. Sirius grabbed your duvet and wanted to tuck you in when you suddenly woke up.
“Hi, we’re sorry, we didn’t mean to wake you up.” Remus squatted down next to your bet and brushed some baby hair from your forehead. “It’s okay.” You sleepily mumbled. “How are you feeling?” Remus asked and got a bottle with water from your school bag.
“Tired.” you closed your eyes and rolled to the side. “Just get some rest, okay? We have plenty of time ahead of us.” Sirius smiled at you and wrapped the duvet around you. “Can I have more jelly when I wake up?” you asked. “You can have anything you want.” Remus chuckled while Sirius secured the duvet all around you, tucking you in.
“Have a good rest, Jelly.” Remus whispered and stroked your cheek for the last time.
He took Sirius hand in his and both of them were leaving your room, when your sleepy voice stopped them. You said the sentence they always hoped to hear, but they would never force you. That sentence that told them they’re doing the right job and choices.
“Love you.”

Girldad Rosekiller vs. Girldad Wolfstar: Selling Girl Scout Cookies
(Yes I'm aware the Girl Scouts are an American thing. Indulge me.)
Rosekiller:
They aren't so much "selling" the cookies, as they are threatening people to buy them in support of their daughter "Or else".
Some Dude: "Nah, sorry man, but I gotta sell my own kid's cookies." Barty, pulling a knife out of fucking nowhere: "You'll buy the damn cookies or the only thing you'll be selling is your own severed hands."
Short, Sweet, and highly effective.
Wolfstar:
They have a whole plan. They used to just go to James first because this man will just buy every single one of those fucking cookies with no buyer's remorse, but Regulus has a firm ban on allowing any more than 3 boxes in the house at any given moment because they just had palets of the damned things sitting in their cupboard and now he gets physically ill at the very thought of anything other than thin mints.
So instead, Remus has a sale plan that he and Sirius created. It lays out the best locations, and with their encouragement, their daughter is very easily one of the best salespeople in the business.
Sounds normal right?
Wrong.
Because even a well-thought-out plan can be somewhat derailed based on Sirius's influence alone.
Let me set the scene:
[[On a sale day, Sirius and their daughter are sitting at the breakfast table before Remus wakes up. Sirius drinks some bougie iced espresso drink he made, and she has a plate of smiley-face pancakes out in front of her.]] Sirius: "So what do you say when someone starts to walk close to the table?" Their daughter, smiling up at him: "Hello, would you like to buy some cookies?" Sirius, nodding: "Good. Now, what do you say when they say no?" Their daughter: "Please sir, my mum just died of cancer." Sirius, grinning proudly: "That's my girl." Remus, having just walked into the kitchen, his hair a mess, and his jumper hiked up due to the hand scratching an itch on his stomach: "Please tell me that you did not teach our daughter to use Cancer as a sales tactic..." Sirius: "Of course I did! It's brilliant!" *She raises her hand from her seat* Remus, with a soft sigh: "Yes, Angel?" Her: "But I have two dads. I never knew my mom." Sirius: "Ah, but that's the trick, Darling." *He pokes her nose.* "Sales is all about the blatant exploitation of other people's emotions in order to make a profit." *looking to Remus* "Tell me I'm wrong." *Remus breathes out a resigned laugh and shakes his head incredulously* Remus: "It's the fact that I genuinely can't that upsets me the most..."

Daughter!reader meeting Sirius in Azkaban for the first time ever. Bonus points if Remus tags along because as her godfather he’s protective.
seeing dad!sirius in azkaban for the first time
masterlist & descrip. pg-13. 13+. angst. comfort. semi-implied wolfstar. caretaker!remus. uncle/dad figure!remus.
Tumblr media
”you know we don't have to go sunshine, he'll be alright.” you twiddled your thumbs, taking a deep breath as remus tried for the fourth time in twenty minutes to reassure you.
it'd been almost a year since you'd seen your father and you'd been in remus' care, and despite how unsure you were that remus had forgiven him for what happened, he'd insisted that anytime you wanted to see your dad you could.
”i want to see him.” remus raised a brow at you. ”i need to see him, please rem.” it was more than you wanted to say but the entire time sirius black had been locked up you had never mentioned missing your father. of course remus knew better, anyone who had a dad like sirius would miss him, which is why it was so hard to believe what he'd done.
remus turned away from you, hand on your shoulder, nodding to the gaurd. the gaurd opened the door and you walked through, remus trailing closely behind you.
the room you entered was dark, a couple of gaurds around, a few dimly lit candles here and there, the strong stench of people rotting, and standing up at a table about fifteen feet from you, sirius black. he looked like he had lost some weight, that much was obvious. as you got closer though, you could see the bags under his eyes, the new wrinkles that had appeared around his eyes and forehead, now his smile was weak and he looked unwell.
from across the table, despite how horrible weak he looked, his eyes still glimmered when he looked at you, full of love. ”hi sunshine.” even his voice was different, more hoarse, drier. ”hi dad.” you both sat down and remus pulled up a chair close to you. ”hi remus.” your father gave the man beside you a crooked grin however he wasn't met with a verbal response, only a nod and low grunt of recognition.
in a matter of minutes, talking about how school was going, watching your father listen with such intent and interest, it took everything in you not to cry. he genuinely looked so happy to see you and a little part of you wished you'd come to see him sooner, but then again it felt like a huge favour to ask of remus.
”is anything else going on?” sirius smiled at you, his hand nervously playing with the rest of his fingers. ”no, not really. but i do miss you dad.” you slowly reached your hand out, palm up, looking around at the gaurds. sirius' hand was shaky as it reached for yours. once his hand was in yours, you squeezed, and you could feel tears pricking at your eyes when he squeezed back. ”i miss you more sunshine.” his smile looks more genuine, bigger, as if he's finally been set free.
remus taps your shoulder. ”y/n we've gotta get goin' pumpkin.” he whispers the words, and you turn to him. he can see how the tears threaten to leave your eyes, your cheeks already pink. you don't even get a chance to respond before he speaks again. ”i can give you a few more minutes, but really, we've got to get home. marls is bringing soup for dinner, remember?” you nod and he smiles at you.
”five minutes.” one of the gaurds behind you gives the warning and all of a sudden you're aware of the time. you wipe at your eyes, ”fuck, dad i need more time.” he kisses your hand, ”i know princess.”
”can i have a hug dad?” the words, almost breathless, cause your father's eyes to brighten and all of a sudden he's up and walking around the table to you, kneeling down so he can wrap his arms around you. with your head in his neck, you finally let the tears fall, as does he. ”i love you so much sunshine.” you only sob harder against his hair and he squeezes you closer to his chest. ”you've gotta go now.” he pulls away, wiping away at your tears while you wipe at his.
hesitantly, you let go, trying to pull your remaining tears back into your eyes. ”i love you dad.” he nods at you with a smile, the same weak smile he had at the start of the visit. you turn around in your seat and nod to remus.
on your way out of the room, remus stopped you and turned back to your father. ”you know,” sirius' head snaps up to remus and you give him a confused look. ”it was good to see you pads.”
”you too moons.” you smile, although the origin of the nicknames is just as lost on you as it always has been.

@jegulus-microfic march 25 - eyeliner - 2341 words
<33 of losing babies and chance meetings in hawaii
Regulus rubs at his eyes, smudging the remains of eyeliner from the previous evening probably only more.
It’s been a wild night out given that Regulus found himself the only one out of his friend group appearing down for breakfast at the hotel’s buffet. He went for a classic hangover comfort food, coffee with beans and toast and while he longed for the sausages and eggs and fruit and frozen joghurt Regulus isn’t fool enough to think he would have been able to keep all of that down.
Sleep is already tugging at the corners of his mind again when he presses the elevator button to bring him back up to his hotel room to doze away another few more hours. There’s a nice breeze coming in from the double doors leading out to the pool and Regulus leans against the cooling marble of the wall, eyes closed, soaking it all in.
It’s been Pandora’s idea, to get the five of them out for a few days over easter, away from home. From work and family—not that the latter was much of Regulus’ concern—and Regulus must admit that this one is definitely one of her better experiments.
The elevator doors ding and Regulus blinks open his eyes and steps forward only to come to an immediate halt because—
Because there’s a baby in the lift.
Just– all by itself.
Sitting in its buggy. Completely at ease.
Alone.
No like…parent or guardian inside.
What appears to be a small boy with the wildest sort of curly, black hair Regulus has ever seen sits in his seat, one spiderman sock barely hanging onto his toes, chewing away on a toy in his lap and gazing with big, intensely green eyes up at Regulus.
“Uh, hi there, baby,” Regulus says. He sets a foot onto the threshold to keep the doors open and bends down, “Where’s your family, buddy?”
The kid suddenly throws his little body back into the padding of his buggy with a blinding grin and a screech of what Regulus assumes to be ecstatic elation, “Pafoo!”
“Bless you, mate,” Regulus replies politely.
The little boy reaches his hands out to Regulus, “Out!”
And, well, the little bugger might be onto something here because as of right now Regulus must look like a right nutter talking to the inside of an elevator and if the little one’s parents are going to try and find him they’ll probably start at the elevator areas on each floor.
So Regulus gets the small kid out of the elevator and wheels him over to where a set of dark leather sofas and armchairs are gathered opposite the elevator doors.
When Regulus sits down across from the little boy he giggles, happy as ever, as if nothing was amiss.
Well, at least the one time Regulus finds a lost baby it’s a happy one. Lucky draw, he thinks.
The boy is back to chewing on the little rubber ring again and Regulus eyes him curiously, chin propped on his fist. The boy’s skin is a warm brown, similar to Evan’s and Pandora’s and there’s a faint layer of freckles dotting his nose—just like it will happen to Regulus after a few more days out under the Hawaiian sunshine. There’s a small patch of drool on his yellow shirt but he looks clean otherwise.
After another moment of inner contemplation Regulus finally reaches out and tugs the sock back into place.
The boy snickers, wiggling his foot and Regulus finds his lips tugging at the corners.
“Pafoo, out!” the boy repeats again.
Regulus frowns, “Yeah, mate, I already got us off the elevator.”
The little boy keeps squirming in his seat.
“Oh,” Regulus makes when it dawns on him, “Oh, out. Er– yes, sure, hold on.”
He scoots forward on the leather to inspect the little belt trapping the boy in his seat. Eventually Regulus finds the lock, figures out the mechanism and untangles the boy from his buggy. Before he has the chance to freeze and wonder if the boy is even old enough to be able to walk yet there are small, chubby arms reaching out to him and tangling around his neck.
“Oh, okay,” Regulus blinks, feeling his tiny body warm where it’s pressed into his chest, “Um, okay, I’m– okay, uh. Hi.”
The boy pulls back from the crook of Regulus’ neck, smiling brightly. “Hi,” he replies, sweet as sugar and waving a hand at him. Regulus’ heart does not melt.
Regulus’ eyes however clock the small bracelet on the boy’s wrist, donned with little letters spelling out the name Harry.
“Harry, huh?” he asks. “My name is Regulus.”
Harry makes another one of his loud, elated noises, “Pafoo!”
“Nah, mate, Re-gu-lus.”
“Pafoo,” Harry grins.
“Fine,” Regulus sniffs, “I guess I shouldn’t expect too much from a one or two year old.”
Harry giggles again, nose scrunching adorably and hiccuping little laughs into Regulus’ shoulder.
If Regulus had ovaries he’s pretty sure they would be actively doing something right now which– is decidedly a disturbing thought to have. In a manner of trying to distract himself Regulus looks around, gaze landing on the socks once more.
“So what’s your favourite Spiderman movie, Harry?”
“Spidey!”
“Yes, which one?”
“Pafoo.”
“Mine’s probably the one with Andrew Garfield.”
“Mo!” Harry yells suddenly, pointing back at his buggy.
“Mo?” Regulus asks, confused.
“Mo,” Harry makes again, knocking his tiny, loosely curled fists against each other.
That’s when the clarity washes over Regulus, lips dropping open with a silent oh of understanding. It’s sign language for more.
He’s seen young parents teach their babies sign language for easier communication and with Dorcas being hard of hearing Regulus and his friends obviously have taken on learning a whole lot as well. The basics are as easy for Regulus as English and French are by now.
“More of what?” Regulus asks, doing the according signs.
“Tea!” Harry responds, smiling brightly, clearly happy with being understood.
Regulus kicks at the buggy to turn it and then fishes a sippy cup out of the holder next to the handles.
Harry slurps away at his cold tea content and does the little gulp ahh thing small kids do when they exhale once they’re done drinking.
Regulus does not think about adopting a baby.
“Harry!” someone calls from the end of the hall suddenly and may the gods stand by because the person running over is undoubtedly the most handsome man Regulus has ever seen.
The small boy in Regulus arms is literally a carbon copy what with the wild, black hair, the dark skin and the bright smile.
“Dada!” Harry yells, as if it wasn’t clear as day that they share the same DNA.
Regulus’ hands start sweating where they’re still around Harry’s now wiggling body, watching the young man rush over.
“Oh, god, thank you thank you,” the stranger chants, carefully lifting Harry out of Regulus’ hands, “Hi, baby, hi. Daddy’s here. Oh, holy fuck.”
Regulus snorts a little at the crude language but, alas, Harry is probably too young to remember anyways.
He gives them their little moment of embracing, fighting against the restless squirming in his stomach, the thing scratching at the inside of his walls demanding to find out everything about the cute boy’s father.
Once the young father has got enough squeeze time and Harry starts trying to wiggle free, he lets out another string of curses, this time Spanish, and Regulus barely refrains from whimpering.
He has to trap another one behind his teeth when the man finally, actually glances at him, relief clear on his features, laughing breathlessly and chocolate brown eyes glinting happily and with ebbing nerves.
“Thank you, I’m–” the handsome stranger blinks a little, mouth working uselessly before he slips back into a lopsided grin, “Hi, I’m James, you- wow, hello, uh– thank you, um, for Harry. I’m so glad he’s okay, I’m James– by the way. And you are? Aside from my gorgeous knight in shining armour.”
Regulus cocks a brow, hands on his naked hips right above the elastic of his short running pants and below his cropped, black shirt with pink letters saying those are bold words for someone in stabbing range. It was a Christmas present from his friends and the first thing he saw after rolling out of bed with a hangover this morning, sue him.
“No problem, he’s a little sunshine,” Regulus replies, gazing at Harry where he’s fiddling with James’ necklace, “I’m Regulus.”
“Wait,” James says, jaw dropping, “Your name is—”
“James!” it comes from the other side of the hall, followed by another rush of footsteps and Regulus turns to see two more men jogging over to them. One of them being—
“Jesus, fuck, I’m so glad you found him,” Sirius says, eyes fixated on James and Harry.
Sirius, as in, Regulus’ older brother Sirius.
Sirius, as in, Regulus’ older brother that he hasn’t seen in four years.
Sirius with his long-ish hair falling down to his armpits now in long, soft curls. Sirius with his arms full of tattoos and wearing red bootie shorts and having pierced nipples and Sirius with pink cheeks and a relieved look on his face and Sirius having his fingers interlaced with another man’s.
Sirius blowing out another breath as he strokes the little boy’s cheek carefully, “Where’d you find h—”
Sirius that swivels and looks right at Regulus standing dumbfounded in a random hotel lobby on fucking Hawaii.
“Regulus.”
“Sirius.”
“I– what are you doing here?”
Regulus narrows his eyes, “I found Harry.”
“You what?”
“Are you deaf?” Regulus shoots back, “I found your friend’s baby.”
Sirius’ mouth drops open, “Excuse me, that is my godson.”
Regulus slips into a frown, suddenly and stupidly feeling a bit possessive over the little kid that is clearly taken with him but apparently supposed to be his older brother’s godson.
He sniffs, crossing his arms, “Well, you’re clearly not doing your job well seeing as you’ve lost him. Also he called me his Pafoo.”
Regulus expects Sirius to volley back another insult, a counter-argument or something of the likes but instead he lets the loudest, most dramatic gasp rip from his throat.
“Oh God,” James mumbles, blanching but failing to keep his lips from twitching.
The man next to Sirius looks just as conflicted, instantly cooing into Sirius’ ear soothingly and rubbing his shoulder as this one whimpers like a wounded dog.
“What?” Regulus asks, looking at James.
The handsome father winces with a badly concealed grin before he ducks close, murmuring, “It’s Padfoot. That’s what we call Sirius, it’s sorta his nickname.”
Regulus can’t help it, the gleeful laugh bubbles right out of him. He could kiss little Harry right now.
“No!” Sirius wails, letting himself fall back into the lanky, taller man’s arms. “Betrayal!”
“Come now, Pads, he’s 18 months old,” the third man says soothingly.
“Remus is right,” James concurs, “Harry doesn’t even know my mum from our neighbour most times.”
“Effie doesn’t live with you,” Sirius cries out.
Regulus thinks there might actually be tears forming in his eyes.
“And neither do you,” James says pointedly, “You’re across the hall and you work full time, might I remind you. You’re over maybe four times a week.”
“Five! At least!”
“Sirius, darling, please stop yelling,” Remus mutters, glancing at a passing old couple with a wobbly smile.
Regulus grins, “No, please keep going, this is the highlight of my vacation so far.”
There’s a poke in his naked side and when Regulus looks over James is giving him a playful scolding glare.
Regulus digs his teeth into his lower lip, voice purposefully innocent, “What?”
“Don’t be a tease,” James chides but it sorta loses the edge with how wide he’s smiling.
“Or else?” Regulus counters.
James hums, giving Regulus a once over before clearing his throat, looking back at his friend, “Here, Moons, can you take Harry for a second?”
Sirius makes an affronted noise, looking downright stricken and he quickly takes Remus’ outstretched hands, pulling, what is presumably his boyfriend, out of reach for James. “Two Potters in one day!? Prongs, are you trying to kill me?”
James sighs, pulling Harry back against his hip which then decides to reach out his hands to Sirius, “Pafoo.”
“That’s right,” Sirius sniffs, crossing the distance and ripping Harry from James’ hold, “I love you, little stinker. You’ll get it with time, I know you will. You’re such a smart boy, Hazza.”
Harry immediately starts playing with the thin braids in Sirius’ hair and his brother swivels to level Regulus with a triumphant smirk.
“Whatever,” Regulus says, crossing his arms again.
But before jealousy, no matter over whom, can spread itself in Regulus’ chest, Sirius is stepping closer.
Regulus is certain their flip flops nearly touch and Sirius is staring at him intensely with the same eyes he sees in the mirror every day, and it makes him swallow. The freckle over Sirius’ mouth is just the same as four years ago, as is the one on Regulus’ temple.
“There’s a baby swimming lesson at the pool I wanted to attend with Harry later at 2,” Sirius says, voice husky, “Care to join?”
Regulus was supposed to meet the others back in Barty and Evan’s room at 3 but they’re probably passed out until then anyways. “I think I can make some time,” he replies airily.
Sirius blows out a heavy breath through his nose, before slipping into a grin, “Good.”
“Good,” Regulus mimics.
“I bet Harry floats better than you,” Sirius taunts, “Do you still sink like a stone?”
“It’s amazing how much of a talent you still possess for making me regret things,” Regulus snips back.
Sirius bumps their shoulder together, making Harry giggle and Regulus purses his lips in an effort to hide his smile.
And then James is there on the other side of him, taking Harry back from Sirius and smiling sweetly down at Regulus and for some reason his cheeks feel a little warmer suddenly.
[also for personal reasons i need everyone to know these were the booty shorts sirius was wearing]

Are you planning to draw more Wolfstar? Because they look sooo good in your style
Tumblr media
I’m glad you like my takes on them!! Sirius and Remus kind of are still evolving in their designs since I don’t draw them as often as Harry and Draco. I’m glad to have another round of practice, here!
