That wonder woman issue got me thinking that Damian would be a great Dad. So have this.

He had failed, he could still hear Alfreds last words, the sounds he had made as he was killed. How quickly he had lost practically everything.

But being summoned one day to a floating clock tower and being handed an infant , an infant who was to become the king of the Realms no less. It wasn't what Damian had expected.

He'd have to figure out how to explain this to his family, to Jon. The apparent master of time had given him 3 rules.

1) Protect Danny at all costs.

2) Nurture his core (emotionally bonded)

3) Don't tell anyone who/what Danny is or what had happened.

Standing in a summer field under the stars (he swore it was late autumn when he left ) holding a squirming bundle.Damian took a breath in and projected calming feelings to the blue eyed infant in his arms. Jon would be on the way, surely having heard his heartbeat.

He looked down at his son and smiled, he had no idea what he was gonna tell everyone.

But he'd already proved he'd do anything for his Family.

Danny is the Tibetan Monk

So! When Bruce was travelling the world, finding masters to teach him how to fight and investigate, he came across a strange building in Tibet.

He had followed rumors of an ancient Monk who lived atop a mountain just on the edge of a Village, who had learned how to conquer Death itself, and stole its secrets for himself. Hoping to find a new Teacher, Bruce climbed the mountain and found the home of that Monk.

What he found was strange though...

The building seemed much more modern than he had been expecting, built with metal and drywall rather than ancient bricks or stones as he had assumed. There was also a strange machine on the top of the building, and if he didn't know any better he would have said it almost looked like a spaceship.

Hesitantly, he knocked on the wooden door and waited.

The man who answered looked nothing like he had expected, but so far nothing had met his expectations so he wasn't really surprised at that point. He looked relatively young, in his late 20's or early 30's, and was wearing a simple T-shirt and jeans. He had short black hair, blue eyes, and pale skin that didn't exactly match the tone of the other people living in the area. In fact he looked as if he could have been an American, rather than Tibetan.

Bruce introduced himself, explained why he was there, and managed to convince the Monk that he deserved his training.

It was unorthodox, certainly very different from the training he had recieved in the League of Assasins, but the Monk said that he was well suited for this style of training.

Under the monk he learned a variety of techniques. The ability to shield his mind from Telepaths, how to Astral Project, how to completely hide his presence from others, even from those with enhanced senses, and so much more.

By the time he was finished training with the Monk, he was confident that he could finally achieve his goal of saving Gotham from itself. He bid the monk farewell, and returned to his home ready to begin the legend of the Batman.

Meanwhile Danny had just sent his most recent student off after a few months of training.

He had to do this every once in a while. There were hundreds of Liminal and Ecto-Contaminated people out there in the world who didn't know how to manage their abilities. They didn't know how to innately seperate from their physical bodies so they could more easily feed on natural Ectoplasm, or how to shield their minds from the volatile stray emotions of the people around them thay may influence their thoughts.

It was dangerous for people with that level of Ecto-Contamination to live without knowing how to keep themselves healthy. So every once in a while, Danny would find a way to contact them and to teach them all they needed to know to stay healthy.

The "Centuries Old Monk" routine was an old favorite of his for this purpose. He would intentionally spread rumors where he knew they would hear, add in some incentive like "conquering death" to make sure they would follow those rumors, and than meet them and take them under his wing.

A few of his other favorite routines were the "Circus Act who knows more than he should", "Mechanic with great advice", and sometimes even just "Life Coach" for the more conventional cases.

And if he heard Bruce's story and decided to teach him how to use a few extra useful Ghostly Abilities, like hiding your presence or merging with Shadows, then who could really judge him? The kid had taken up a huge burden, he needed all the help he could get.

Besides, its not the first time he's ever done that.

Years later, Bruce met Dick and found out that he also knows how to Astral Project and Guard his Mind. He couldn't merge with the shadows or hide his presence nearly as well, but he could apparently slow how fast he fell and bend in ways even bruce couldn't.

Apparently he was taught how to do so from an old member of Haley's circus, who told him that they were meditation techniques to get "in the zone" for his trapeze acts.

Then he met Jason, who could also Astral Project and Guard his mind, and he could also heal faster than normal people and read other people's emotions. He learned from a Mechanic who used to live on his street, who told him it was just some street skills that would let him avoid the people who would hurt him or give him trouble.

Then Tim came in, also with Astral Projection and a Telepath-Proof mind, and he could apparently last for weeks on end with no food or even water, and could hide his presence from even Batman. He was taught by a butler his parents had briefly hired while away from home, though Tim's parents didn't know what he was talking about when he brought it up to them later. He was told it was just a way of "keeping his spirits up" when he was alone.

Stephanie had also been taught by an old Mechanic on her street. Same as all the other she could leave her body behind and guard her mind, but she could also read emotions and convince people to do what she said. The mechanic never gave a reason for why he was teaching her, but did say that it would help her gauge the people in her life easier. He left barely a week before Steph realized her dad was the Cluemaster.

Damien was, suprisingly, trained by the same Master that Bruce had been taught by. Talia had sent him up the mounting saying that his Father had learned from the man on the mountain, and he would as well. He was taught the same as all the others, though instead of merging with Shadows like his Father he was taught how to converse with Animals.

Cass had been taught by a man while she was running from her Father. He never said why, only that it would help her live a better life. She had the "normal" abilities of Astral Projection and Guarding her Mind, but she could also Merge with Shadows and Perfectly Read other people's emotions beyond their body language.

Duke was taught by a man who had also taught other members of "We Are Robin" during the cataclysm. He said it would help them survive their attempts at heroism, though he gave Duke extra training for some reason. He had taught Duke even more than he had taught the other Bats, alongside the now typical Astral Projection and Guarding his Mind, Duke could also talk to the Dead, See into the Past, and even Phase through Walls. With enough effort he could even Fly.

A few of his abilities were attributed to his Metahuman Powers, but he claimed that they were never that powerful before that man came along.

He also said that the man "Glowed" in a strange way. He was the only one who could see it among the members of We Are Robin, even the others he had taught.

Bruce had long since decided he needed to pay his old Master a visit.

Demon twins AU

Standard Danyal escapes the League of Assassin's and is presumed dead or a traitor by Ra's, but when damien finally reunites or finds out that his brother is still alive he says something/reveals that knowledge in a way that no one would've expected.

Jason: *Does or says something that ticks damien off*

Damien: *Glares at Jason before giving him slightest of smirks* You're no longer my favorite undead sibling.

*Everyone in the batcave currently freezes upon hearing this, looking towards damien.*

Jason: *Confused* The fuck? I'm your only undead sibling!

Damien: No, you're not Todd, I have a brother who is also undead. He now outranks you.

DPXDC Prompt# 8- Burned Bridges and Pepper Spray

Only cause I've been reading too many Demon Twin AUs.

Damian is trying his very best to keep his composure. He doesn't want to admit that his twin's final words about him never being able to change haunted him.

What matters is that he found him. They can be the family they were meant to be. He knew better than to expect flowers and a hug for this reunion.

But there it was. The same cold gaze that pierced through his soul time and time again. Only this time, it's on two bodies half his height. He couldn't even react before he was pepper sprayed and tased simultaneously.

He held onto the railing behind him for dear life. He barely makes out the door being shut, and the nearest voice cuts through his haze of anguish, yelling out, "MOM, HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED IS ON THE PORCH!"

Despite Danny's best efforts, no matter how much time past, Amity Park refused to see Phantom as a hero.

Sure, there were pockets of support, particularly among teens, but most of the town blames Phantom for the property damage, saying if he didn't fight the ghosts then it wouldn't be so bad, to that time he got mind controlled by Freakshow and "attacked" the mayor. It wears him down. It wears Tucker and Sam down. Jazz can only try to support them all.

Then one day, a member of the Justice League visits. Someone minor, and kinda a jerk... maybe a Wonder Twin? Zan? Whatever. They don't investigate; they don't look deeper. They listen to the town folks and declare the ghost hunters, Red Huntress and the Fentons, to be the official heroes of the town.

Worse? Danny Phantom is officially considered a villain to the Justice League. Tuck hacks into the Watchtower and confirms that they have a file (a heavily inaccurate file) about how to defeat Phantom.

Danny doesn't think he can do this anymore.

A few weeks later, a young villain escapes into Amity and demands (begs) that Danny help them escape from the hero after them. No idea who, I can't find a lot of info on teen villains in DC, so let's fudge some ages and make it Kyd Wyckyd from the Teen Titans cartoon. Danny agrees, because to hell with the Justice Losers, and they defeat the hero, becoming friends in the process. Kyd confesses that they became a villain after being ostracized bc of how they look, and they've been trying to avoid villain organizations because HIVE was abusive, but it's really hard to be a villain alone bc of all the heroes.

Sam gets an idea. Tucker agrees with the idea. Jazz is just happy they'll end up making friends.

The next day, the Teen Villain Alliance is formed, ready to assist with any teenage illegal shenanigans their allies might get into.

Some notes:

It's created to be a healthier option for teen "villains" to connect with others and support each other.

It's more important that this is for Teens rather than Villains. They're tired of adult villains taking advantage of them. The TVA would rather ally with a teen vigilante than with an adult villain.

Again, no idea who the teen villains are, but Klarion is definitely here. He leaves the Light for the chaos of the TVA. Maybe Ember is there too?

Timeline wise, this is around when Tim is still Robin, but Damien has arrived at Wayne Manor.

This is because, when it comes time to try to infiltrate the TVA, they'll have a convenient child-assassin who has none of the monitors of a teen hero that Phantom immediately picks up on.

Damien, who at this point has been abandoned by his mother, dismissed and scolded by his father, and has had no success at carving his own place in the family, jumps at the chance. He is then surrounded by peers who don't insult him or try to change his behavior (too much; jazz is trying to help him find healthier methods of expressing himself). He... might not want to continue being a spy.

Danny, Sam, Tuck, and Jazz are the founding members.

Danny reinvents himself as the High Prince of the Infinite, Prince Phantom Dark. He got kingship from fighting Pariah Dark, but since he's still alive, he's only a prince. He steals the last name Dark as an intimidation tatic against those in the know; only Danny would have the balls to claim family with Pariah.

Sam works as a powerless villain, but she might no be powerless? Either way, Danny gives her a bunch of repurposed Fenton tech, and she buys the rest with her parents credit card. She does NOT care if that's traced back to the Mansons. She would choose something goth, maybe something spider related or even bat?

I love Pharaoh Tucker, so I think he should get magic powers? Since pharaohs of old were considered the balance between the real and the divine. He's still a tech guy, now he's a tech and magic guy.

Jazz isn't really a villain, more of a team mom who's planning on using everyone's psyche's as her thesis paper. You know what, that's her callsign, she's Psyche. Sometimes she flirts with Nightwing.

the Dannies being the Mean Girls of Gotham Academy

Dan being forced to go to Gotham Academy after he starts living with Vlad.  Dan comes back for winter break talking about Gotham Academy and accidentally convinces the Fenton parents to send Danny there as well. this ends up with Danny going to Gotham Academy with a vendetta against Dan.  

Dan looks a lot like Danny and has mentioned that they are technically family making people think that they are twins. They do the thing where they group twins together so when Dan does something like decide that a space is his or that he doesn't like a person everyone treats it like Danny doesn't either. 

Due to everyone being afraid of Dan, no one really wants to talk to Danny.  Danny tries not to let it go to his head that people are afraid of him; he does get a little catty when people try to get to Dan through him. 

Dani ends up catching wind of what's going on and starts going to Gotham Academy too. It takes about one school year to get everything settled but in the end all three of them become basically the Mean Girls of Gotham Academy. 

The next year after all of the Danny shenanigans Damian Wayne is transferred to Gotham Academy.

Demon Twins but Danny was sacrificed to the Ghost King

So I've seen AUs where Ra's tries to sacrifice Damien to GK!Danny, and I've seen AUs where dead or injured Danyal got thrown in the pit and was transported somewhere he could be found by the Fentons instead of revived/healed.

Let's combine the two.

Ra's tried to summon the Ghost King. Since Pariah Dark was unavailable, the council of Ancients who sealed him away took turns answering his summons. (None of them bested him in single combat, but they all bested him together. Therefor the kingly responsibilities fall on all of them.)

This time it was Clockwork who showed up. Ra's proposed his bargain in exchange for one of his heirs as "sacrifice to the ghost king." Clockwork saw a potential future where Danyal became Danny became Phantom became the Ghost King. In order to make this potential future more likely, he specifies that Danyal must be sacrificed to "the Title of Ghost King"

Ra's didn't care to question the semantics, otherwise he might have found out that Clockwork was ensuring that his spare was sacrificed to Bear the Title and become the Ghost King, rather than be enslaved or killed by him.

The result was that Ra's got some minor boon from an eldritch entity he assumed was the Ghost King, and Danyal Al Ghul was taken in exchange. If you want to add extra angst, maybe Damien and Danyal had to fight for the right to not be sacrificed. And/or Clockwork, who could see that Danny would make a better king than Damien, CHOSE which twin he wanted as sacrifice.

Like imagine little Danny and Dami in a duel, the loser of which will become a sacrifice. And Damien, who cannot bear to watch his twin be doomed to that fate, throws the match so that he could be taken in his stead. And then the ritual happens and the entity refuses him. Damien has to watch as his twin brother gets dragged to hell despite his best efforts to save him.

The Wayne's garden was magic.

Damian didn't understand the bats meant as he roam around, alfred's prized fruits, vegetables and flowers lay neatly around.

The Wayne's garden was huge in size as he found a total of 37 hidden weapons locations so far and was still counting.

It was a pass time game to him to see what father added, only for Damian to see a little glow flicker between a hedge near what seemed to an old abandoned broken down well.

That certainly looks like a secret entrance to the batman cave, not far from here, and if not, he has his grappling hook with him.

Damian looked down the well. It was dark and deep down below, not a speck o- but there.

A two flicker of glowing blue light flash very down below before vanishing. He didn't think a second later as he leap down into the well.

The bricks of the well wall seemed to go on for a minute as he fell, only for his falling feeling lighter and lighter as he went down.

A gun blaster lodges in the dirt, and Damian fell on a dust covered star theme bed that bends over but never falls with him. A tea cup full of glowing much greener lararus pits floated around as the walls became from dirt like to frozen ice with a star embedded in them.

Damian held up his grappling hook to shoot upwardsit to malfunction was when he panicked.

only for him to land on top of something soft and fluffy, bounced a few times, but cold as ice, a gigantic room that was covered floor up to the ceiling in frosted ice with odd languages, thousands, and thousands of doors with variety of sizes and shape, two massive baby sized crib with two bundles wrapped in white fluff fur Damian was sitting on.

The Wayne's garden was magic that went across damian's mind only for he noticed what he was laying on was still moving slowly.

Damian glances downwards to notice he is sitting on a giant white fluff of a much more gargantuan person.

Hair white as snow with icicles and frosty snowflakes, a floating massive crown covered in snow and stars insides, skin paler than white paint, a icy breath leak out, sprinkling shining snow and stardust as they lay in a frozen bed the size of Wayne's manor itself.

It was cold, icy cold even with Damian's training in the League of Assassins couldn't withstand this. His consciousness fading with each cold breath he took before the last sight was the large bright, shining, pale greenish blue eyes opening to see him before darkness took him alongside the blinding green.

Damian would only wake up to his frantic father, lightly shaking him awake as he lay in the garden between the hedges. The day was still out, except for one thing that was missing was the old broken down well.

Tiny patch of frosty blue flowers instead was there in its place.

I like to imagine a scene

where after Damien and Danny reunite

and talk stuff out

they are immediatly on the same wavelength

So sometimes they copy each others movements or personality

one time they dressed the same and basically made them look exactly alike

and just copied each others movements smile and personality for the entire day

Like if you said

"Hey Danny" both would turn to you

and you would just see Danny the same movements and Personality

Same with if you called Damien

at the end of the day the family is just huddled in a corner

repeatedly saying make it stop make it stop

The Demon Twins tilt their heads in unison

stop what? they say voices matching

They smiled a bright smile

Won't you come play with us?

Then the family wakes up in their beds and the twins are completely back to normal

they do this at least a couple times a year

Alternate POV: Constantine’s Nightmare

John knew trouble when he saw it. And the Bat’s new “brother” was trouble wrapped in a college hoodie.

Constantine: “Listen, Bats. Your boy’s got Death on speed dial.” Batman: “Explain.” Constantine: “He is the afterlife, mate. And he’s laughing at your demon brat’s stab attempts.” Batman: [silent] Constantine: “...You’re keeping him, aren’t you?” Batman: [smirks under cowl] “He’s good with Damian.”

Damien was being punished for being “Too rough” with criminals than what Father and the rest of the family thought was “Appropriate” so he was to be benched until further notice.

Damien was just doing what was needed and he was being punished for it so here he is walking around on the Wayne estate until he sees a bird a crow to be specific on the ground with one of its wings sticking up and obviously broken by the way it was bent.

So Damien walks over and assesses the damage as well as he can from next to the bird and it seems he has caught the bird’s attention as it looks to him as if it’s judging his soul and Damien can’t help but feel impressed.

After a minute or two the bird moves closer to Damien and Damien makes the move to pick it up and the crow allows him the honor of doing so.

As Damien picks up the crow he starts the walk back to the manner where he can set the wing straight and bandage it up, But Father most likely won’t let him take of the crow as he is “Grounded” as Father said but what Father doesn’t know won’t hurt him…

After 3 to 4 weeks of taking care of the crow [And hiding the crow from the others in the manner] their wing has fully recovered [and Damian is still benched].

So well the others are out Damien picks up the crow and makes the walk back to where he first found the crow and sits on the ground with them still in his arms before he sets them down on the ground and unbandaging their wing.

After a minute or two of the crow flapping their wings to just move it, they take off flying and start to fly around Damien before flying into some woods on the edge of the Wayne estate and Damien follows them into the woods.

About 5 or so minutes later Damien follows the crow to a tall tree [How has this not been noticed before now?] with hundreds of other crows around it and the crow that he has been taking care of lands on the outstretched hand of a person with black crow feathers mixed in with the rest of their short mess black hair but what caught Damien’s attention the most were their large black wings on their back.

And when Damien makes a step closer to the tree he steps on a branch, and gaining the beings light surprised blue eyes at his presences.

Oh so this is what mother felt when she met father…

So Danny has to leave his world because the GIW + his parents somehow [VLAD] got blood blossoms and started to use them in their weapons.

And it was BAD for Danny, he now has scars on his arms and legs from it and Jazz, Tucker, and Sam all told them to GTFO because they would rather have a far away brother/best friend than a fully dead one to Danny books it to the DC Universe where he ends up in Gotham and somehow gets taken in by the local crow population.

And this starts to change how Danny looks and acts due to spending so much time with the crows of Gotham.

So that’s how we ended up here.

Okay I have seen a few things of Damien and Danny being siblings but most of the time they are twins but that is not the angle that I’m currently going for since I do remember reading once when Danny was Damien’s older brother some time ago  and  I’m going to throw in some trance Danny misunderstandings with baby elly but a lot more interference from clockwork

so Danny was reborn as Danielle al Ghul and for some reason he was born female but he did not care since he could just simply proclaim himself trance when he’s older, he knows he’s a baby he still has all  his memories from his first life and his time as the ghost King but he sees this as a vacation  that will take an entire lifetime but a vacation non  the less one that finally will let him relax hopefully.

but unfortunately he was born to a family that worships a thing known as a Lazarus pit   a hole  of disgusting, old  ectoplasm that has become corrupted, not to mention he found out later he was born into a league of assassins, and these two things wouldn’t really be a problem since he still has his durability and enhanced senses so he could avoid getting killed, and  he thought  the ectoplasm  would not affect him but unfortunately due to how old and disgusting it was it was making him sick so from when he was a baby he was ill and obviously his grandfather saw this as a liability but his mother somehow convinced his grandfather that he might have inherited his biological father’s intelligence so he might be useful for something other than one day taking over the league of assassins, and that she would simply try and bear another child in order to get the perfect heir,

when Danny was 4 his mother gave birth to his little brother Damien who unlike him was not affected by the Lazarus water so was the perfect  heir in his grandfather’s eyes.

They both were still being trained Damien obviously because he was supposed to be the next heir of the league of assassins but Danny was being trained more in intelligence and healing but it does not mean his assassin training didn’t happen and to the surprise of everyone he was keeping up with his training  the only thing is his illness made it difficult for him to gain his grandfather’s approval since Danny would randomly faint or start coughing up blood.

Also despite constant attempts to keep Danny and Damien apart most of these attempts being done by  grandfather they had a good relationship and Danny had become the league of assassins head healer by the age of 12 and his grandfather, Ra's al Ghul could admit that Danny was not as useless as he once said but despite that Danny’s condition was getting worse, so much that by the time Damien was 10 and about to leave to go to his father Danny could not leave his bed.

okay so a time skip happens of 4 years and this is where I’m going to have to explain on how elly fits into the story, so something happens in elly  gets put into her core and while Danny is on a mission clockwork gets in touch with him again and explained the situation with elly and explains that she needs to be incubated a.k.a. he has to carry her like a normal human baby and Danny Seeing this is a chance to reunite with his daughter along with to get away from the league of assassins makes a plan and stages something that makes it look like he got (assaulted) when in reality all that happen is that he absorbed elly’s core,now for his plan to get away from the league of assassins

he writes a letter to Damien explaining the situation blaming their grandfather for the entire thing by stating that he had been getting worse and   grandfather had sent him on the mission regardless to a place that was honestly more dangerous than he could handle in his much weaker state and now things have happened ( he does not mention that he is pregnant technically since it would be too early to know that for a normal human)

Damien having lived for 4 years with his father and siblings had learned that most of the things the league of assassins did was not okay and receiving this letter from his brother that he had kept secret from his family because he honestly thought that his brother was safe and he did not see a point in telling them about Daniel, was absolutely furious how could grandfather do this, Daniel was a cherished member of the league of assassins he was the best healer, what would be the reason for grandfather to put him in such danger and then he would think Daniel had always been strong his fighting prowess was that on almost the same level as mother  the only reason it wasn’t better was because he was ill and to be honest if he was not ill he probably would’ve far surpassed grandfather,  Damien comes to the conclusion that grandfather was scared of Daniel and was purposely keeping him sick and putting him in dangerous situations just to keep him in line, Damien would not accept this and would immediately set up a meeting with his father so that they can rescue Daniel.

The Bat-Adoption Papers are literal Magic Contracts

So! In the Deified Batman AU (the AU where the Belief of the peoples of Gotham accidentally Ascended Batman to minor godhood), the Bat Adoption Papers would be a fun concept.

Batman is a God of The Night, Fear, and Protection. Specifically, the protection of Children, which is one of his biggest motivators. Meaning, it's a big part of his Divine Domain.

So when he, a God of Protection and Children, adopts his own Child? It's kind of a big deal.

His Adoption Papers basically become Magical Contracts that claim Dick to him as his own Son, basically turning Dick into a Demigod by the fact that he is the Son of a God.

Then each time Batman adopts a kid, they become a Demigod as well. Maybe after enough time, and after they forge their own Identities, they could become Minor Gods of their own? Idk, fun idea

Why do I bring this up?

Well, when Danny eventually joins the JLA, and runs into Batman, all he sees in a God of the Night, who takes one look at him, and then pulls out a Magical Binding Contract from his Belt.

Needless to say, he books it.

Being Crazy never stopped me from being right

Jasmine no Harley damn it it's Harley did not expect this turn of events.

Harley's life has been complicated. Getting past life memories while you're actively going crazy isn't exactly the best experience. She honestly thought she just made them up if not for the tiny little gremlin in front of her actively confirming her suspicions.

 “Baby Polaris” Harley teased

“Tt I am not a baby” Robin Mumbled.

“So I wasn't going crazy” 

Harley wasn't expecting her last life little brother to be the stabby robin but honestly after everything that happened before, She's going to let it slide. She can't really say anything or discipline him due to the whole criminal background thing.

Ok so I'm reading a fanfic rn and it's giving me an idea for a dpxdc crossover.

Ok so I'm thinking it's not safe for Danny in his world so clockwork pulls some strings and sets everything up for Danny to be Tim's non identical twin (theyre similar enough to pass) and he just appears in wayne manor right after Bruce gets out of the time stream.

Like I'm talking he has a room that's 'been lived in for years', he has memories of them and growing up with tim, he's acting like nothings new ect.

So he's all like "dad your back!" And they're all looking between tim and his double like "tim??? NOT tim????" And they come to the conclusion that Bruce fucked with the time stream and he spawned in.

They all feel guilty that they 'forgot' him even though they never knew him. Especially Tim, he would feel so bad if there was someone that went through what he did with their parents neglect and they only had each other, but Tim doesn't remember who this is.

He could be fully aware and is pretending so he's safe OR clockwork thought this would be for the best so he altered Danny's memories so he genuinely believes he's Tim's twin.

For the second option I like the ideas that he doesn't remember anything/he doesn't have access to his ghost half (either he has to heal from something his parents did or he can't handle the full power that comes with being ghost king) and he won't unlock his memories/powers till he dies again.

Which if he genuinely believed they were his family, and then they tell him he wasn't real a few days ago, that would probably fuck with his mind.
