A Note To All My Trans+ Siblings
I’m in an issues in trans+ communities seminar, and today we talked about the “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism & Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” executive order issued by 47 on his first day in office.
I openly cried in lecture. I was fortunate enough to flee the US at my first opportunity (perks of being a dual citizen), but I fear for my community. It is easy—and understandable—to fall into hopelessness and despair right now. But I would like to share with you a message of hope imparted on me by my professor.
My professor, sociologist & sexologist Aaron H. Devor, holds the inaugural position as the world’s first Chair in Transgender Studies. He is an internationally recognized leading expert in trans+ issues, and truly, he has done so, so much for our community. I think we could all do with some of his wisdom right now. This is a direct quote from him today:
“Trump and his ilk are often referred to as reactionaries and … what that means is that social change is happening in a direction that moves away from the old, and these people are reacting against that change.
They’re trying to stop it, trying to turn the clock back, and ultimately they will not be successful. A lot of people will get hurt before they are ultimately not successful. But bear in mind, what Trump is pushing for used to be standard. That used to be the norm, that used to be what everybody thought and what everybody believed, and nobody had to argue about it—that was just taken for granted. That there are only two sexes, there are only two genders, nobody can change sex, gender is not a real thing—that used to be the mainstream.
And the fact that the people who are pushing to go back to that are the reactionaries tells us that progress has been made.
You can’t sit back and say, ‘oh well, there you go, done …’ The fact that Trump got elected tells you that you have to always be continuing to push, continuing to defend any advances that are made.
But you have to understand. Trump wouldn’t be a reactionary if what he wanted was what everybody believed. Cuz reactionaries are trying to undo the progress that has been made. And there’s a whole lot of people who made that progress happen who are going to be defending it and are gonna be pushing for more progress. …
Keep it in perspective in terms of why this is happening—it’s happening because we have been successful, we have made a lot of changes, and there’s a lot of people that wanted that to happen that made that happen who are going to be trying to keep Trump and his buddies from getting too far in where they wanna go.”
Do not give up. Do not stay silent. Now is the time for solidarity, and for rising up together and fighting for our rights. We have been successful in the past. And we will continue to be successful.

we have reached the peak of hateful discourse brainrot that people on this hellsite are dedicating whole blogs to shitting on transmascs and nonbinary people with "AFAB privilege," but it's okay because they're "calling out transmisogyny" and "uplifting transfemme voices" all the while using slurs and denigrating language specific to transmascs and nonbinary people.
if your "uplifting" and "positivity" posts rely on punching your fellow queers and contributing to transphobic rhetoric, don't be surprised if you get called out for perpetuating hate speech.
but, of course, these dolts won't realize it with their heads stuffed so far up their ass.

Very very tired of people calling nonbinary cast members on Dropout trans masc. That is true for SOME of them but quite frankly it is infuriating to see the two equated so easily.

I think there needs to be some kind of bridge between "do what you want forever, labels are made for you not the other way around" and "these labels mean something and the community around them might get hurt if you don't treat them with respect and also some specific experiences deserve their own specific labels"
Like, I get wanting to be accepting of everyone but at the same time treating queer labels like they actually mean nothing and anyone who tries to say "oh hey maybe don't do that" is just a cop who wants to exclude people isn't great.
Like obviously exclusionism is bad and people who just hate anyone who isn't like them shouldn't have their opinion respected but at the same time it's like... These words are important and the people being like "they're just words who cares" clearly don't respect the history and community effort put into them.

I wish there was more sides to talking about DIY HRT other than
"DIY is the easiest thing on earth and if you can't do it you're a lazy disgusting piece of shit who hates me personally"
Or
"DIY is the most fatal thing on earth if you do it you'll be arrested immediately and will inject unknown drugs into yourself that WILL kill you after the arrest"
Because both are just the most extreme awful fucking sides of this whole discussion. Why can't y'all be normal and have nuance please.

I see y’all specifically avoiding reblogging queer posts that use nontraditional/neopronouns. Please know that when posts that feature he, she, and they get thousands of notes while similar posts with neos/xenos like it/xe or others garner maybe, 10, the nonbinary and gnc folks following you see that. Acknowledging other pronouns exist won’t kill you.

I think we think of non-binary folks as "half-boy half-girl" when they're not on that binary
So many people don't realize "non-binary" means non-binary
They're not on the middle of the "boy–girl" scale
They're off of the scale entirety

the amount of tme trans people who are very obviously deeply envious of trans women because they [very regressively] view them as like. "someone whose queerness™ [and specifically queer masculinity, effeminacy, 'faggotry'] is taken seriously ie. as a threat and an inescapable facet of their being" is so prevalent on here. many many tme trans folk on this site functionally pretend to be trans women up to (and sometimes including) just blatantly lying about their cagab, coopting language and aesthetics, identifying as characters that are very obvious transmisogynistic caricatures, etc. like its very obvious that a lot of the deeply transmisogynistic genderfuck dykefags on here with these hard red text on black background MCR horror gore aesthetic blogs truly just envy the fact that trans women face a specific kind of violence that (in the eyes of these people) validates their desire to be seen as Threatening and Tough and Legit and Masculine instead of like. an introverted brunette with short hair whose family misgenders them. they want to be able to wear eyeliner and look like gerard way and be he/him'd so they turn to trans women as this fetishistic "goal" because their perception of trans women is "someone who wears eyeliner but still gets he/him'd." this is of course aligned with the way so many of them make broad sweeping generalizations about how its impossible for GNC trans men to pass (untrue) and of course doubles back around to barefaced transmisogyny 100% of the time because the accepted normalized view of trans women in these spaces becomes "threatening scary failed man whose femininity is undermined by their scary threatening genderfuck masculinity." it is so incredibly prevalent and you will not be able to unsee it once you notice it.

Most passing and binary trans woman on earth: "actually I am biologically female, a real category that both exists and matters, because hormones. So obviously transphobes should respect me and its factually wrong to be transphobic agaisnt me because I've somehow managed to transition into a cisgender person."
Anyone even slightly educated on the broader queer community: "What if, now hear me out, intersex women and afab enbies tormented you using demons and magic spells."

you have a great blog and i appreciate the reblogs just now a ton just thought you should know
thank you so much & i hope you have a really good day!
i was kind of spiralling over the toxicity of queer discourse and how it affects us as a community. we are infighting in what's meant to be a safespace for everyone. we shouldn't squabble over labels and flags and all that. in the end we're all queer and there are much more important problems to focus like how theres places that neglect trans healthcare.
trans youth are in need. children are dying. and yet we focus on such minuscule gripes because some random person is identifying as this instead of that.
i recently realized how ive always been ostracized back and forth in the majority of my 'safe'spaces. being told i'm not valid because i identify a certain way. what counts as "valid" in the first place? what are the criteria for being "valid", when does it stop being "valid"? is it when their identity is "too complex" for you?
we are all tired of being ridiculed by queerphobes. we don't need to bring all that hate to our own community.
no one should ever feel ashamed of how they identify as. no one should ever feel ashamed over preferring certain labels over others. what defines your experience is yourself, after all. not others.
the shunning hurts the progress of self-discovery, because you are constantly told that simply being a certain is wrong. you are told that being yourself is wrong.
from the bottom of my heart, to all people that need to hear this. love to all queer people with identities that are commonly frowned upon. love to all queer people with "contradictory" labels. please keep strong.
i am no longer afraid to admit who i am, and you shouldnt be either. i dont need to hide my true self to fit the standards of other people, and you dont need to do so either.
to the exclusionists, unfollow me if you havent already; i really dont need you here. and to all queer people: you are all inherently beautiful.

When I hear some people saying "The first Pride was a riot. Now it has become a fucking party. It's not political anymore."
I want to remind them that:
Being yourself IS political.
Celebrating who you are IS political.
Celebrating being alive IS political.
Celebrating with you community IS political.
Being visible and loud IS political.
Staying positive despite all the sh*t thrown our way all year long IS political.
Stay proud.

we all know you're going to "detrans" (grow your hair out again) in a few months and go full radfem bc trans women didn't worship you hard enough
This literally follows all the tropes transpobes deploy upon us. Claiming that our identities are phases that we'll grow out of is like level one transphobia. And openly hating me for not medically transitioning and using that to deny my identity, is something I've heard from so many enbyphobes before you.
You aren't a queer rights activist anon. You're a transphobe who happened to be born trans, and this carves out a small ideological space where trans people like herself are allowed to exist. The other transphobes still will never like you darling.
