You deserve compassion for yourself, to feel loved and appreciated, in case anyone haven't told you this today, you matter, and you deserve to put yourself first.

Laziness is a myth
Tumblr media
Let me make one thing clear: Laziness is a myth. People are not lazy. Most of all lazyness is a capitalist mythology that is (like "unskilled work") used as a tool of oppression. It is used to spin a narrative of why certain people deserve to be poor. Others deserve to be rich, because they work so hard. Something that is obviously a lie. Because nobody can work enough to make millions a day.
A lot of poor people are in fact working. Some even work several jobs. Some do not work for some employer, but instead work at their homes. Childcare, care of sick or elderly family members or friends... all of that still is work.
But of course, some people do not do that. But that does not make them lazy. Not everyone can get a job. Some, because their specialization happens to be too specific. Some, because their kind of skill is not valued by the capitalist society. (A lot of creative skills fall into this. Because, yeah, most people cannot live from art and barely anyone can live from writing.)
And some people (a lot of people) are in fact just sick or disabled. Even more are now, that so many are suffering from long covid. But in fact the entire late capitalist landscape makes a lot of people suffer from burn out and exhaustion. And then there are also neurodiverse folks, who might work very hard in short intervals and then are unable to work on the long haul.
No. People are not lazy. People are just human. Not robots. We have needs and we have limits. We cannot do anything. We will not do everything under any circumstances. And something we just need to look at stupid cat videos for a whole fucking day, because our brain just demands a day to reset. And that's alright.
So, if you happen to just now sit at work or uni reading this, while your conscience tells you that you suck for not working/studying right now: Give yourself a break. Your brain needs it.

Doctor Beverly Crusher @SpaceDocMom Ditch the perfectionism. Anything worth doing is worth doing as much as you can do. Eat some food. Move your body a bit. Clean part of yourself. You don't have to do everything at once. Life isn't perfect and you don't have to be either. emojis: black heart, blue heart, masked 12:33 PM · Jun 8, 2023

just want to remind everyone that you're allowed to say "stop." Or "I need a minute", or "let me catch my breath". I forget myself sometimes and it's nice to have it affirmed. Honor your needs. 🖤

You should consider doing along it easier when your self-awareness becomes embarrassment at everything you do and your self-criticism becomes self-hatred. I know it's hard to like yourself all the time, but at least know that you are trying with the options you have right now, and remember that you are still showing up for yourself. Even on your worst days, you are still holding on. Go easy on yourself when you are doing what you can to survive. You don't need to love yourself immediately, but you can judge yourself less harshly for doing what you have to do, you are never exempt from the same understanding you give to others who are trying to get by as best as they can - remember to give that understanding to yourself and if you can't, at least think about giving yourself some slack. Take a break, rest a little, do something you enjoy. You can be gentle to yourself even if you can't be in a place where you love yourself. You don't need to constantly tear down every little thing you do. Whenever I have those really conflicting thoughts, I try to tell myself that I am trying. I might not be the best, I might not know all the best courses of action, but I am still trying, and that's enough for this moment.

fanfiction writers will leave a “hey ! im sorry this sucks and is doodoo and you guys will probably beat me up in an abandoned walmart parking lot for this but here it is!” in the notes…meanwhile i’ve been sobbing on my kitchen floor because it’s the most beautiful, heart wrenching story i’ve ever read

You don't have to be in a constant state of stress to feel valuable.
You can still be productive, if you aren't stressed.
You can do the same, if not more, when you're not stressed.
Give yourself a break.
