(guys i finally finished the 1950s piece lmao my eyes r dead and it has a slight angst ending sooooo 😍🫶)
He coughed bitterly into his black coffee upon hearing that statement and laid the cup down with a loud thud, thick brows furrowing and his bloodshot eyes painted in disbelief. “Y-you wish to… what?” The last word came out in a higher pitch than he intended.
The slender figure seated in front of him merely sighed helplessly and folded her arms on the surface of the weary old desk, frowning down.
“You heard me the first time, officer,” her sweet and airy voice veiled with thick devastation. “I don’t have much time, the… the higher-ups are probably looking for me. I want you to keep this matter concealed. Nobody else shall know about this, at least not as quick as the newspaper headlines in the making. I sure do hope not.”
“You can trust me, miss. What is said here, stays here. I assure you that confidentiality plays a key role.”
Albeit there was not a single soul in the room, she leaned in slightly and tenderly spoke, he caught a whiff of her floral scent, “I’ve gotten myself into a pickle. You see… I’ve been robbed by a God knows who heading over to God knows where. You are the first and last person I can trust to help me find the culprit.” She slumped back on the chair and crossed her arms, pouting. “I was heading home from another casting when it all happened. Oh, how I wish I could just snatch all my riches right then and there, you surely have no idea how much this means to me and my reputation!” her voice trembling as she rambled her concerns, exasperated.
“Miss, please don’t choke. I would like you to try taking deep breaths and once you are more relaxed, you can lay it all on me properly, yes? Deep breaths, can you do that for me?”
He eyed her warily. A felt pillbox sat atop her gorgeous long blonde curls that would dance everytime she moved. Baby blue eyes that usually danced and cherry-red lips that would playfully pout on dollish features plastered on posters and billboards looked vehemently ashen. Instead of her usual glamorous skirts and gowns, she was in a humble-looking woolen coat with minimal jewelry. Was she trying to stay undercover?
Is it really her? he wondered silently. Her past image definitely juxtaposed the bombshell sitting before him. After four years, one of America’s underground heroes—now a Hollywood star—was frantic in front of the former criminal—now a policeman—pleading for his aid. What were the odds?
He chewed on his tobacco pipe before taking it out of his mouth.
“Are you really Amy Bridgetts?”
“Miranda Béa Hofferson. I think I didn’t make myself clear the first time. You may address me as Ms. Hofferson.”
He blinked, gently reminding himself that the name “Amy Bridgetts” was merely the star’s name chosen by the studio and merely a persona.
“Apologies, Mira—I-I mean, Ms. Hofferson.” He grimaced momentarily, stuck with the nickname he used to call her long ago. “What about your lover? Why didn’t you bring him here? Surely, he could’ve aided by being an eyewitness—”
“We’re in a sham relationship, Randy Dearie. It’s all merely a facade: to build our image to the public eye. Surely, you couldn’t have been fooled so easily, could you? I wrote letters to you in full detail about it; in fact, I used to write to you very frequently yet you rarely ever write back. It’s either the mailman’s error or I reckon that perhaps you are merely uninterested in hearing about the life of a star.”
“Uh…” he lowered his eyes, feeling guilty as charged. He did in fact read them, word by word, admiring how she had painted her glorious life in the showbiz and how she had draped herself in diamonds and expensive jewels now that she had retired being a hero. He had stored them safely in a cupboard, occasionally rereading them again, never thinking of disposing of them and yet…
“I… well, you know, duty calls. I tend to sort my letters from the most urgent ones to the trivial ones to read some time later. And not to mention, I had other pressing matters to attend to as well so… that’s why I just need more time to write a reply,” came the obligatory response.
Terrible, this was indeed terrible. The fellow was being a fool, and a cowardly one too at that. How many more excuses was he going to make? Why wouldn’t he just tell her why?
“Yet your stack of letters are usually lesser than mine,” she retorted, picking at a mail pile nearby with gloved fingers.
This brought his attention back to her. “Right, has it crossed your mind that the culprit might be someone close to you?” He attempted to change the subject and handed her a Camel to which she refused, confessing that she was attempting to quit.
“Hm… my pretend boyfriend? Not a chance, honey. He is a total playboy: too busy with his other flings to even notice me.”
“All right, as I have recalled, you work under a contract at a certain studio, yes?”
“Yes, I do. However, I don’t think any of the producers would do such a rubbish act unless they’ve deemed me unworthy of their use.”
A tense silence grew.
She glanced up at him tentatively and their gazes locked for a moment. He gulped, her cool scrutinizing gaze made him feel uncanny. “Surely, you could’ve known who, couldn’t you?” she mused.
“No, I certainly do not.”
“Have you given up on your manhunting skills?”
“I could ask the same for you. What has Hollywood done for you exactly?
“Well, it gained me the fame, wealth, and power that I’ve always desired. What about you, Randy? All you do is sit in your cramped office all day, drink from the same stupid cup, wear the same stupid uniform working in the same stupid job over and over and over again and yet…” She took a long weary inhale and balled her fists. “Why do you still get paid more in sum than I do? If I were to work twice as much as you do, why am I still considered less?”
“Mira…”
“Enlighten me, Randy!” her fist flew and banged the desk, “For goodness sake, after all these years all I want is for you to look at me like you understand me and you could even pretend to understand me for all I care!” She cupped her palms around her lips and squeezed her eyes shut, inhaling long and slow before muttering a quick apology through an exhale.
“I sent all those letters to you hoping that you’d at least write me back.” She lowered her palms and her eyes fluttered open, sniffling. “I wanted to feel seen, I wanted to feel heard. You are the only person in my entire thirty three years of living where in the past decade I’d spent every second thinking about, plotting about, chasing about for so long until I got you at last. And you have no idea how much I’ve missed you terribly during those four years after that. I know we’ve had our differences in the past but darn, will you look at me now that I need you?”
Silence once again filled the already tense atmosphere, both waiting on who would pounce first. Randy exhaled, long and heavy. “Mira, my dear, I sincerely apologize for the way I’ve acted on account of the past as rivals and in the present as who we are now. I truly am. I do not despise you by any means; on the contrary you are undoubtedly the most intelligent and brutally honest woman that I’ve ever met and I truly admire that in you. So please, let me be transparent to you about everything—especially the letters. May I?”
“Just cut to the chase, Randy.”
Despite the jarring response, he cleared his throat and tried to find the appropriate words. “I was just trying to protect you.”
She scoffed, “Protect me? How?”
“Those letters that you’ve sent, I keep them. I’ve read each and every single line and paragraph and I’ve never once thought of throwing them away and I couldn’t write back to you or reach out to you because…”
Seconds passed.
“Because?”
More seconds filled the silence.
“Because… my God, ain’t this quite difficult?” he chuckled incredulously, rubbing his palms on his face and through his slightly disheveled dark hair. “Because Mira, I told myself that if I could forget about you, that if I forget everything—beginning with your name, it would hurt less than it already is hurting me.”
He was rewarded with a puzzled look, he was not surprised either.
“You have an important image and reputation to uphold now that you are a star, especially around these parts,” he stated matter-of-factly. “If, say, the locals and the daily papers were to find out that you’ve been associating yourself with someone like me and dug up our history and past identities, it would be over for both you and me.
“Bad: I would lose my job and would probably have to find another one which might be impossible considering I’d be spending my days in lockup, worse: since you belong under a company and have to follow strict protocols, it would do nothing but tarnish not only your name and your reputation, but also your life.”
She could only stare. The hard lines of her expression were gone without a trace.
He continued, “I couldn’t help but confess that I enjoyed the whole decade of us just chasing around one another while it lasted. I couldn’t help but adore your determination and wits to bring me down and I can’t say I don’t miss the good old days but Mira…”
He lifted her nearest hand to his lips and cupped them gently, nearly encapsulating it whole. He could still feel the achingly familiar warmth and softness of her hand through the fiber against his bare, rough hands.
“Promise me one thing?” he murmured tenderly. “Live your life to the fullest and forget about me, about us, and everything that has happened in the past. I wish I could have you call me yours and for me to call you mine, you and me against the world, side by side, and only us. The Bonnie to my Clyde.” He gave a pained smile while his breath hitched slightly, voice caught in his throat.
“I know, it sounds like anything but a distant foolish dream. I’ve accepted and come to terms that I can and never will be yours. We may have been young and foolishly careless back then, but we’re grown-ups now. Although we may not be the same as we once were, I’ll always adore you and keep you close to my heart. Just, let me do this as a remuneration for all those years. Let me do the chasing for you this time.”
He glanced at his watch, noting that it’s past his shift then at her, not failing to catch a glimpse of her eyes beginning to be glossy. “Meet me in the postmeridian tomorrow to discuss the details. And, let’s keep our relationship professional from now on. As a protector, I owe the citizens my life and as a man, I owe you my heart. Let this stand alone as a testament on how much you are dear to me, please?”
The girl only pulled back her hand meekly and stood, without a word she turned her back against him and marched toward the door, pumps thudding dully on the floor. He could see her figure hesitating before jamming it open and then pulling it close—fury graced her movement—as the door slammed shut.
He let out a long breath he didn’t realize he was holding and merely stared at the papers before him as he tried to focus on the inked characters. His vision was gradually becoming blurry as something hot and heavy burned in his eyes. Something dropped on the paper and a perfect round wet patch bloomed, darkening the sheet as another one fell, and another again.
Oh, he thought as he pressed his palms to his eyes. In the years he had been a man, the fellow had never felt more pathetic than the realization of what he had done sinking in his already trembling shoulders.

Not That Special
"Good evening."
Detective cursed loudly, tea splattering the wall as they whipped around to face the thief lounging, ankle crossed over the knee, on their sofa. "What are you-- How did you get in?"
"Key."
"What key? There is no other key, I have the only set."
"Ah, the only set you knew of. I asked your landlord for the spares when you moved in. He thinks we're married."
Detective let that sink in a moment before forcing their mouth shut and running an exasperated hand down their face. "Alright. Ignoring that for now. Why are you here? I could have you arrested with one phone call."
"Oh, please don't do that. I'd have to make run for it, and I'm really trying to stay off the streets right now." Detective raised their eyebrows inquiringly, and they continued, "I'm on the downlow. A recent target really did not like being robbed. Two of my places are being watched, and I would not like to risk the third. You see I'm rather attached to my skin."
They slid the back of their hand down their cheek, turning their head haughtily to the side, almost like an invitation to admire them.
"So you decided you'd put me in danger?" Detective said.
Thief scoffed. "Nobody even knows who you are, let alone that I crash here in my off afternoons."
"You what?"
"Landlord thinks we're married, remember? You think that was a one-lie assumption? Keep up."
Detective had to sit down. Everything sort of felt like it was spinning out of control. Before they could think better of it they'd sunk down to the cushion on Thief's left and ducked their head between their knees with a long groan.
"I'm going to have to inform them I'm very much single. Then I'll have to change the locks. Probably change all my passwords--who knows where you've been snooping. Then there's the police."
Thief reached over their back and began massaging their neck. "Why. go through the stress? It's just a few measly days. I'll even return my set of the keys. As for the police, why is any of their business?"
Detective didn't have the energy to swat them away. The day had been exhausting enough all on it's own, and now all this...
Villain hit a knot, and they practically puddled at its gentle unraveling.
"Maybe because they're paying me to catch you? Besides, they already think I treat you specially. If it got out you were in my house and I didn't report it--"
"Like you said, if it got out I was in your house. Many times at that. With an eye witness. You really think they're going to believe I got in on my own?" Thief leaned against their shoulder, breath hot in Detective's ear. "After all. I am special."
Detective jerked out of their grip, their stomach dropping to their toes as they wheeled on Thief's pouted lips and innocent-seeming dark eyes. "Are you blackmailing me?"
Thief surged forward, wrapping their arms around Detective's neck. The scent of rosemary and mint wafted up from their hair. "Only a little. And only if you call someone."
Detective moved to shove them off, but Thief clung tight.
"I would like you to leave," Detective said, squeezing hard on Thief's wrists. "Now."
Thief still did not unlock. "I told you, I'm in trouble!"
"So? That's your thing! You love danger. Your court it so often your practically a suitor."
"But I went too far." Thief shifted a little. Detective didn't notice they'd climbed into their lap until their legs were wrapped as tightly around their waist as their arms were around their neck. "I robbed Corvina Sedero."
Just the name made Detective shiver. Dragging hidden criminals into the light was one thing. But the ones that stood in plain sight were quite another. Detective had been young when they realized that mere knowledge of wrongdoing was not enough. Evidence was one manacle and decent law enforcement the other, and Corvina Sedero with all her reputation remained chain-free. The rumor was that she skinned the people who crossed her. Detective had never taken it as hyperbole.
"If she catches me..." Thief drew out a hairbreadth from Detective's face, dark eyes shining. "I'm scared."
Detective probably would have taken it for a lie if they couldn't feel the rapid pound of Thief's heart against their chest. For a moment, they considered making the call anyway, telling Thief that the safest place for them was behind bars. But even if Thief didn't run for it, Detective doubted any prison was truly outside the reach of Corvina's claws.
"A few days," they sighed.
"Really?"
"But we come up with another solution in the meantime."
"Of course, it's not as if I planned on moving in." Thief snuggled against Detective's chest, limbs loosening into less of a death grip and into more of a real embrace. "I knew I could trust you."
Detective jolted a little. That was not a good thing. A Thief should not feel comfortable with the person actively trying to jail them. Yet they couldn't stop the warmth flooding their chest cavity. "Don't get used to it. I'm still telling my landlord I'm not married."
Thief did not argue.
"You're not going to say no? Tell me what a mistake I'd be making?"
Their only reply was soft breathing.
Detective flicked their gaze to Thief's face, eyes closed and tucked snuggly against their shoulder. They must have been as exhausted as Detective, holding on for confirmation before finally letting themselves drift off. Detective couldn't imagine how much running they must have done, how many dead ends they faced, before they got here.
Their arms hovered awkwardly over the criminal's thin back, stuck between ideas of guiding their wiry figure to the couch cushions and holding them back. They'd once read that hugging made the body release the oxytocin hormone to combat anxiety, and Thief probably could use as little anxiety as possible. But that didn't mean Detective needed to be the one to do it. The weighted blanket on their bed probably would do just as well.
Detective braced one palm against the couch back and gingerly rose to their feet. They turned off lights as they went, brain growing drowsier out of habit with the dark hall and spattering of wall lights ahead. They'd tuck Thief in and then collapse on the sofa.
It was just one night.
It wasn't wrong if they weren't in the same room.
And these were extenuating circumstances.
Anyone would be swayed.
Thief was not special.

DP x DC prompt
Danny hates anti heroes and heroes who kill, not because he thinks it's morally wrong. But because a lot of them like to make the criminals suffer for their crimes before they kill them.
Which leaves them with enough trauma and pain to become ghosts and this causes Danny to have more enemies he has to stop from coming into the mortal realm.

DP x DC Prompt: Not As I Appear
(Can also work for Marvel if that's what you wanna go with :3)
Danny is not a Meta because that would mean he had a MetaGene, he's not an Alien because he was technically born on this planet. However he died and was reborn between this realm and another so he was technically a Cross-Dimensional Being. But of course he couldn't just say that. The Anti-Ecto Law's were still heavily in place with "science" backing it up and a mixture of an Amity Park blackout caused by the Ghost Investigation Ward (GIW) and the ectoplasmic energy naturally produced by the area - it was hard to protest the science already available. So he couldn't say he was Phantom or protest the science so he found himself in a pretty tough spot when he couldn't explain the 'strange readings' to a group of Meta-Human Traffickers when they kidnapped him from Amity Park.
He also couldn't explain to the group that came to save him and the other hostages when they found him single-handedly putting an end to the trafficking ring on his own. Instead he could just look at the person in front of him with an unsteady smile as he said.
"I promise it's not what it looks like, but if I told you the truth things will get even more complicated."

I think we all know by now that I love throwing my characters into scary traumatizing situations, so this one was fun to write!

Warnings: gun violence, burglary, cursing

Izuku stared out at the bright lights that reflected millions of colors across the glittering buildings. Night time in the city was always beautiful. It was one of the reasons he loved night patrols.
As he made his rounds in the sector, his mind kept wandering back to you. What were you doing right about now? Since he was stuck on the night shift this evening, he wouldn't be there to witness your nightly routine.
He'd come to memorize your exact routine each night. Izuku chuckled as he imagined you putting on another spot of tea before you went to clean your face, humming whatever old song was stuck in your head as you danced around your shared apartment. You were probably in your pajamas by now and though he'd never voice it, he'd hoped you were wearing those Deku pj's Ochacho had gotten you as a gag gift last Christmas. It embarrassed him each time you put them on, flushing his face to near boiling every time he saw them. But he loved the way you looked in them.
The night had been quiet and his body was itching for action. Chilled fingers twitched along with his jittery form as he leaped across to the next rooftop. He always preferred to travel by rooftop during patrols. It was always easier to get a feel for whatever mood the city decided it was having that night. Plus it made sneaking up on unawares criminals much easier.
But it seemed as if all the villains in the city decided to take the night off during his patrol. That rarely ever happened. Especially with his special brand of luck.
With a sigh, he glanced down into the empty alley and made his way onto the next block. He hopped onto a ledge above a lonely intersection, watching one car lazily make its way through the light and down the next street.
He had time to make a quick call. To ease a bit of the boredom.
Fishing the cracked phone out of his pocket, he dialed your number and waited for you to answer. He was almost certain you were still awake, but a guilty thought crept into the back of his mind that maybe you decided to go to bed early tonight since he wouldn't be back until the wee hours of the morning.
The phone rang a few more times before it went to your voicemail where your chirpy recorded voice asked him to leave a message. He hung up, worried that he did call while you were asleep. He didn't want to bother you, especially this late at night.
Pocketing the device, he headed for the next block. As he landed on the next building, he couldn't help the nagging sensation in the back of his mind, demanding his attention. He knew your routine. He knew it down to a tee. Something about it didn't sit right with him. Of course, there could be a million possibilities of why you didn't answer, but usually, in Izuku's case, it always seemed to end in the worst-case scenario.
His boots dug into the gravel of the rooftop he'd stopped on. The low hum of the ventilation hid the crunch under his boots. He used the cover to lean against the metal and pull his phone out again. It couldn't hurt to just try one more time. As long as he heard from you that everything was okay, then he would be okay. He could always apologize for waking you later.
When the call went straight to voicemail this time, he stared down at the phone. Something wasn't right. That familiar sense of dread filling the pit in his stomach practically screamed it over and over at him. Something wasn't right.
Izuku pulled up the location app you both had installed on your phones. He pinpointed yours, and sure enough, you were home. Maybe you had just put it on silent, or maybe you were just busy with something at the moment.
He impatiently rapped his fingers along the cold metal surface of the unit as he thought through his decision. The apartment78 was outside his patrol route this week. From his position now, it would take him at least ten minutes off route. That nervous hole growing in his gut was only urging him more and more to just at least stop at home to check. You two could laugh about how silly it was later.
Mind made up, he turned back around and launched himself into the air, leaving a small ring in the gravel. If he boosted his speed with his quirk, he could make it there and back in time to finish his route.
Tumblr media
The night had been a quiet one. You were used to them of course. Every couple of weeks, Izuku would have to work the graveyard shift so you wouldn't see him until the morning. After a nice relaxing bath, you slipped on your pajamas, hoping that when Izuku did eventually make it home, he'd see you asleep with his likeness plastered all over you. It always made him melt into an adorable blubbering puddle which you took too much pleasure in.
After setting the teapot on the stove, you headed into the bathroom to finish washing your face. Humming a tune, you turned on the faucet. The water felt nice, especially after a long day. You could feel yourself relaxing the longer you splashed your face.
Over the sound of the sink, you heard a door close. With a handful of water brimming past your cupped palms, you froze, glancing at your phone on the counter. Izuku wouldn't be home yet unless something drastic happened, but normally, he would at least call if there was an issue.
Dropping the water back into the sink, you grabbed a towel and patted your face dry, then turned off the faucet. Before you stepped into the hallway, you slipped your phone into the waistband of your pants.
"Izuku? Didn't your shift already start? What are you doing home-" Your words died on your lips as you turned the corner into the living room, locking eyes with a masked person in a hoodie. The ski mask was lifted, revealing a pudgy face and wide saucer-like eyes.
The man was holding a large sack, half filled with contents from around the room. A burglar. You'd walked in on a burglary.
Two pairs of shocked eyes stared at each other for a few tense seconds. Your heart had gone into overdrive, nearly hammering itself right out of your chest. Your feet unconsciously backed up, but the man dropped the sack with a loud crack and pulled out a pistol, shakily aiming it at you.
"Don't move!" he cried out, eyes nervously darting around the room.
He didn't expect to be caught red-handed. His thick fingers trembled, shaking the barrel so badly you were sure if he did decide to shoot, he had a pretty good chance of missing. But you didn't want to take that chance to begin with.
You raised your hands in surrender. "Look, I don't want any trouble." You tried to keep your voice steady so as not to spook him. "Take whatever you want, as long as you leave. Just put the gun down alright? I won't fight."
That much was true. You weren't a hero like Izuku. You wouldn't try to bust your way through a fight. You only had your wits to keep you safe from a bullet and a shaky trigger finger.
The room was silent as the burglar nervously thought it over, the gun never wavering from his target. At last, he lowered it slightly, glancing down at his sack of stolen goodies.
A small bit of relief rolled through you as you thought he'd just take his prize and leave, but then a loud ringtone buzzed from your waist startling you both.
"What is that? What are you doing?" He took a heavy step forward, barrel pointed back at you. "Drop it! Drop it now!"
You couldn't help the panicked yelp as he waved the gun wildly, threatening to shoot. With slow motion, you lifted the phone out of your waistband and carefully placed it on the floor, face up. You could see Izuku's goofy grin lighting the screen as the phone vibrated loudly on the floor, demanding attention. After another ring, the phone went dark, along with your hope.
"N-now kick it over here!" He cried out, obviously getting more and more frantic with how this evening was turning out.
You couldn't say you were any more happy than he was.
Sliding your foot out, you gave it a little shove. The phone twirled across the wood floor until it came to a stop between the two of you. The man narrowed his eyes at you as he took a few more steps out to reach it.
As he bent down to grab it, you debated on the odds of running. If you just got outside, you could escape to get help. Or he could have a much better aim than you thought. The chances of him hitting his target weren't low enough to tangle with. If only there was a way to warn Izuku. But right now, your only means of communication was currently in a panicked criminal's hands.
The man examined your phone until the shrill cry from your kettle in the kitchen startled him so much that he dropped the device. You heard the crunch of your screen the moment it hit the floor, and you were afraid he'd destroyed your phone. Destroyed your chances of calling for help.
He cursed as he swiveled in the direction of the kitchen, trying to find the source of the noise.
"It's just the kettle," you said quietly, not wanting to startle him any more than he already had been.
A nervous gunman was an unpredictable gunman.
"This wasn't how it was supposed to go," he whispered as he stormed into the kitchen, keeping the gun trained on you as he moved the kettle off the stove, silencing the pot and filling the apartment with more tense silence.
You watched him, heart hammering in your chest as you tried to figure out what he was going to do. You'd seen his face. His mask was still sitting above his brow. He hadn't made any attempts at hiding himself. You weren't sure if he just hadn't realized it in his panic or if he knew he'd be screwed either way. But with the way he was staring at you now, you were sure this wasn't going to end in your favor.
"He said it'd be easy." The man rubbed his forehead with his free hand, before running his palm down his face. "Shit!"
"Please, if you leave now, I promise I won't say anything."
At least not until you had your phone back. Then there would be nowhere for him to hide once Izuku got wind of it. The only problem was getting to it with that barrel still staring down at you.
"No!" He yelled, pulling the rest of the mask off to rub his head with the side of the gun. Sweat had built up in his damp hair. It dripped down the side of his face, pooling under his chin. "No, no, no! You've already seen me. I'm screwed. If I mess something as simple as this up, then they'll-" he paused as if the next part was too terrifying to say aloud. "No! I've gotta fix this somehow."
An icy dread filled your veins. Everything he just admitted was what you were afraid of. You were the only witness. All he had to do was just get rid of the witness. A short-term solution to a long-term issue. It was a terrible plan. One that had major consequences for both parties, but he didn't seem to be in the listening kind of mood.
That familiar ringtone broke the taut mess of emotions hanging in the air. You glanced at the phone jingling against the floorboards with its merry tune. A stark contrast to your feelings at the moment.
He moved quickly out of the kitchen, back to where your phone lay innocently on the ground. The burglar lifted his boot and in one hard stomp, killed your only chance of calling for help. The buzzing stopped as your poor phone was crushed underfoot.
"Get on the floor! Put-put your hands on your head!" He charged toward you so quickly you sucked in a breath, stumbling back a few steps. "Don't make me tell you twice!"
Unsure of what else to do, you stiffly obeyed. Kneeling on the floor, you locked your hands behind your head, trying your best to regulate your heavy breaths. Panic was building in your throat. Tears blurred your vision. Fear flooded your thoughts. Thinking was nearly impossible as he pointed that gun just inches from your head.
The man wiped at the sheen of sweat building on his forehead and blinked hard. "I-I don't want to hurt you…but I can't…I can't go back to jail. If he knows I messed up again then-" He groaned, smacking his face.
"You won't!" you pleaded, holding in a sob. Anything to make him stop pointing that gun at your face. "Please, this will only make things worse."
"I just needed to pay off some debts." He seemed to be pleading right back, a wobbly tilt to his voice. He was just as scared as you. "It was supposed to be easy money. No one was supposed to be here. You weren't supposed to be here."
The man must not have done very good research before he attempted this little caper. You supposed the only reason he'd gotten caught was the work trip you were supposed to be on this week had been canceled. You weren't supposed to be here tonight. It was a last-minute change that threw him for a loop. And now it seemed you were paying the price.
"I can't-argh!" He twisted away, smacking the butt of the gun against his head in frustration. "Shit, shit, shit!"
The criminal stalked back and forth, seeming to debate about what to do next. As he paced, he only occasionally threw a sparing glance your way. Your stomach churned every time he looked at you. If you could just get past him without him looking. If you could just get through the door before he realized. You definitely didn't want to stick around to figure out what he would ultimately decide.
As he turned his back once more, you tensed your legs, ready to spring into action. With one quick motion, you dashed for the door on the other side of the room. He spun around when you were halfway across the living room and screamed. The gunshot nearly deafened you as it splintered the vase beside you.
You shrieked, stumbling back into the wall, trying to distance yourself from the shattered pottery. It was a gut reaction but it was the wrong choice. Your hesitance gave him the opportunity he needed to place himself between you and the door, raising the gun with his finger on the trigger.
There was no time to think. You knew he was going to shoot. He was too spooked to let you go now. Not after the attempted escape. So you did the only thing you could.
You ran.
Backpedaling as fast as you could, you flung yourself around the corner and down the hall. In your panic, you dove into the first room you came across which happened to be the bathroom. Once you crossed the barrier, you twisted and kicked the door shut, practically throwing yourself into the wood as you fumbled with the lock.
The moment you twisted the lock, he slammed himself into the door. The knob shook so hard you were worried he would tear it right out of the door. The bathroom was small and with not much space to work with, you backed up, nearly tripping on the rug in front of the bathtub. Your breathing was too rapid to gain control so you bent over, struggling for air that just wouldn't come. Panic had nearly engulfed your entire being.
The door shook a few times as slammed himself into it over and over again. Whatever the door was made of, it held up surprisingly well under the assault.
But it wouldn't hold forever.
You'd sealed your fate by running. There was no way he'd let you live now. And why would you trap yourself in the bathroom of all places? It was windowless. No means of escape. It just happened to be the first door offering meager protection in your panicked state. If only you'd had the sense to make it to the bedroom where the window led out onto the fire escape.
"Come out now!" He screamed from the other side. "There's nowhere to run!"
Your legs hit the porcelain of the tub. Stepping into it, you crouched low and hugged your knees. Yes, you'd successfully trapped yourself, but you did have one thing going for you. He shot at you. One of your neighbors must've heard the commotion. At least you hoped so. All you had to do was wait him out and hope the door held until help arrived.
The kicking stopped. A part of you prayed that he'd finally come to his senses and fled while he had the chance. Silence filled the bathroom, ringing loudly in your ears as you held your breath. Tears leaked onto your knees, soaking your pajamas. You stared down at one of the masked faces of Deku adorning your knee. You needed him right now, but how in the world was he supposed to know that? The knowledge that he wasn't coming was turning your panic into full-blown hysterics.
There was a small click from the other side of the door. You didn't even have a chance to react as a bullet shot through the thick wood, impaling itself in the tile above your head. With a scream, you threw yourself flat against the tub, hoping it would provide at least some protection. A second shot tore through the curtains.
"Help!" you cried as loudly as you could. "Help!"
A third shot shattered the side of the toilet bowl, spilling water everywhere.
You curled tighter into yourself, squeezing your eyes shut.
Expecting a fourth shot, you covered your ears, but instead, a loud thud shook the floor outside. Freezing, you listened in the terse silence, the sound of your breath too loud in your ears. It seemed too good to be true…had someone finally come?
Tumblr media
Izuku landed on the sidewalk in front of the six-story walkup. In the darkness of the late-night air, he saw only a few windows glowing with life. His eyes scanned the side of the building, searching out the right floor and- there. The faint glow from the living room drifted through the curtains. So he knew he wouldn't be waking you up, at least.
He entered the lobby, shoes squeaking in the quiet emptiness, and jogged up the stairs that lead to the fifth floor.
The building itself was pretty old. A single elevator sat permanently out of commission, much to the ire of the other residents. Most of the rooms could use a fresh coat of paint…and probably a few other repairs. But rent was cheap and with opening his own agency only a year ago, his savings would take a while to grow back.
You didn’t seem to mind. Working yourself to the ground trying to make your own path with your career. While the place itself was a bit old and rundown, it was what you two joyfully called home because it was where each other was. And that's all you could really ask for in this life.
Izuku had made it to the third floor when he heard the distinct sound of gunfire from above. It was muffled, but there was no mistaking the sound, especially in his line of work. That sense of dread floating in his veins seemed to pool right into his stomach as he boosted himself up the last two flights.
When the door came into view, he stopped, taking in the sight with dread.
The door was slightly ajar.
Someone was inside.
With you.
A second shot fired off and one of the neighboring doors peeked open. An elderly man popped his head out of the door looking rightfully alarmed. Izuku caught his attention with a finger to his lips and motioned for him to go back inside.
He made his way to the edge of the door and glanced inside. From his viewpoint, he could see the living room. There was a shattered vase on the floor, a black bag full of various things you two owned, and then there were the remnants of your crushed phone. But no signs of you or whoever fired that gun.
Another bullet fired further inside, and your scream was what got him moving double time. His quirk sparking around him like furious lightning, he launched himself past the living room. The commotion came from the hallway, and when he rounded the corner, he saw a man dressed in all black fire, another bullet into the bathroom door.
The bullet had barely left the chamber before Izuku slammed into the man with full unmerciful force. Both men collided with the wall at the end of the hall, cracking the plaster. An agonizing cry came from underneath him as the man curled around his arm, bent at an odd angle. He didn't put up much more of a fight as he groaned, glaring up at Izuku.
"You broke my arm!" He screamed as if Izuku was the one in the wrong. "Dammit!"
But the adrenaline was still pumping through his veins and with no fight to serve as a proper output for his fury, he slammed the wall beside the intruder's head with a boiling cry of outrage, making a fist-sized hole in the wall. Walls, he could replace. Heads, not so much.
At the sudden violent outburst, the man stiffened, blinking the rain of dust out of his eyes. He snapped his mouth shut, eyes wide with terror.
Once Izuku took a few breaths to calm himself down, he wrenched the criminal off the wall, only to slam him belly-first into the floor. Pressing a foot down on his back, he used a set of zip ties from his belt to secure the writhing mess of a man beneath him. He didn't care to be gentle as he nudged the criminal on his side and tied his hands tight, ignoring the sobs spilling from his mouth. He moved down to his legs and tied those two. Just to be sure, this bastard wasn't going anywhere until Izuku decided what to do with him.
"No, no, no," the intruder cried weakly into the floor, struggling with his binds. "It wasn't- argh- it wasn't supposed to go this way. It's all her fault!"
He glared down at the whining mess struggling to free himself. "You'll pay for your mistakes. If you hurt her at all," he squatted low to make sure he was listening. "I swear you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
With that, Izuku turned his attention to the bathroom door, now decorated with a few bullet holes. He made his way over until he stood just outside it, trying to hear any signs of life within. It was silent and that perhaps scared him more than anything. Just what would he find in there after this disaster of a night?
You were everything to him. If something were to happen to you, he honestly wasn't sure what he'd do. This wasn't supposed to happen. Not in the safety of your home. Not when Izuku-Deku- is supposed to be watching your back. Not to someone as perfect and as kind as you.
Shaky fingers gripped the knob and turned, only to be stopped by the lock. When he called your name, a slight wobble to his voice, he only heard silence for a few terrifying moments before the subtle sounds of movement came from inside.
"…Izuku?" you asked quietly, sniffling and not entirely trusting. "Is that really you?"
"It's me. I'm here. Everything's okay now. You're safe, I promise." He leaned his head against the wood, trying to tamper down his own racing heart. "I'm so sorry."
The door unlocked and swung open so fast, that he barely even registered it before you crashed into him with a fierce hug, squeezing as tight as you could manage around his bulky frame. The fabric of his uniform twisted in your grasp. You buried your face as deep into his chest as you could and let out a shaky sob. In one long breath, you let all your fear and terror out.
"H-How'd you even know to come?" you asked, voice muffled by the cloth but unwilling to let go just yet.
His arms curled tight around you. A secure embrace you were grateful for and melted into it. You felt him trembling almost as much as you. He had been just as terrified as you were, maybe for different reasons, but still the same fear.
"I…I don't know." He admitted into your hair. "I just…I had a feeling."
And he would forever be grateful to the fates for whatever reason they decided to give him the instincts to come. But at the moment, all he cared about was that you were here, alive, and safe in his arms.
"I'm glad you did," you spoke softly, your emotions finally reigning themselves in a bit. "I don't even want to think about what would've-" you paused, your mouth not quite able to form the rest of the sentence.
He didn't want to say it either. Just thinking about the worst-case scenario had him shuddering at the thought. What if he had ignored his instinct tonight? Would you even be alive after he would've eventually come home hours from now?
Sparing a glance at the man who was too absorbed in pleading his case to the floor, he twisted you around so you wouldn't have to look at him.
"He didn't hurt you, did he?" Izuku gently cupped your red puffy face in his hands. Those giant green eyes laced with concern as he searched for any sign of pain.
"I don't think so." That much was true, at least in the physical sense. But you did a quick cursory check of your limbs and, finding them still intact, you grasped his wrists. "Thank you. You saved me. He would've- I might've-" stammering out the words, your raw voice dissolved into a puddle, and you pulled him in for another tight hug.
As you hicciped into his uniform, he could only hug you tighter. A light kiss to the crown of your head, and he leaned in to whisper, "I will always be there for you. I promise."
"You won't leave?" you murmured, voice vibrating directly into his heart.
"I won't leave," he assured you, gently swaying from side to side. "I'll stay right here by your side for the rest of the night. For the rest of your life if that's what it takes.
He felt your body sag in relief. Your fingers curled into the creases of the fabric. You let out a deep, slightly shaky breath.
It wasn't a lie.
He would stick by your side for as long as you would let him. You were the light of his life. The thing he looked forward to each and every day. The man would give anything up to make sure you stayed happy, healthy, and alive.
As you fought back the adrenaline slowly seeping from your body, he wrapped an arm around your waist, that look of concern still adorning his freckly face.
"Do you need to sit?"
"Maybe," you admitted, dropping your head into his shoulder and trusting he would have your weight should you stumble.
He led you to the couch where he could still keep an eye on the hogtied criminal down the hall and helped you ease into the cushions. You patted your knees and frowned. Your pants were dirty, smudging the print of his masked likeness.
"They're dirty," you muttered, poking the print. "And they were my favorite."
Izuku, despite the situation, blushed as he stared down at your pants. "They were?"
"Yeah. But I suppose as long as I have the real version with me, I can manage." You leaned back, taking his hand and curling yourself around his arm as he stood vigil over you while you waited for the police. "You're a good hero Izuku. And you just keep proving it. There isn't a doubt in my mind that you'll be Number One someday."
As you closed your eyes, you didn't catch the red dusting his cheeks, but you did hear the way his breath hitched in his throat. You smiled something small and wobbly as you scrubbed the last of the tears from your face. Finally, you let yourself relax a little, knowing you were safe with him. There was solace in knowing he'd always be right there by your side.

okay i have a concept i need to share
a corrupt hero. detective x villain.
detective is friends with hero and has been assigned a case. it seems normal at first, but as detective falls to hero about the details, hero realizes that this is the villain’s m.o. as things progress, detective realizes it too. this will be their big break! they’re so excited.
detective gets closer and closer and unknowingly even meets with villain a view times, who finds them and their efforts charming. hero is frustrated, they’re supposed to be the one to save the city and take down villain, not detective! hero feeds off of detective’s work, worms their way into the case.
then, it happens. detective does it! they figure out the location of villain’s headquarters. but hero can’t have it, can’t have detective steal everything they’ve worked for. so upset and enraged, hero captures detective and goes to meet villain, who’s shocked. they expected the cute detective to show up!
villain is enraged, realizing that something must really be wrong. now this can go one of two ways:
1) hero wins, framing detective as a partner of villain’s, and steals detective’s work. villain eventually finds detective, offers them the opportunity to get revenge on hero.
2) villain wins, exposing civilian as a fraud and saving detective’s life, getting pardoned for their crimes.

Villaintine's Day 2024 - Crash Meeting
Prompt: Evil Scheme 03 @black-rose-events
Detective who has to investigate a string of crimes and ends up discovering more about Villain than they ever thought they would (could be an identity reveal or a bigger plot or a “the Villain is actually the good guy and X is actually the antagonist)
(tw car crash mention)
It did not go according to plan.
Detective twitched a little, their fingers fidgeting. There was an unconscious part of their mind that was annoyed at not being able to clasp their hands in front of them, as they were zip-tied behind their back. It helped them think, and in that moment they needed that. To be honest, they were in a slight state of shock. Being caught hadn’t much to do with it.
A couple of weeks ago, there had been a robbery in their neighborhood. It’d happened in a garage. During the night, the cars in repair had been all gone. Detective liked the people that worked there. They were a regular, and the staff never sighed or rolled their eyes every time they presented a very bumpy car that had its windows broken too many times to count, flat tires at least every month, and once had a very long knife stuck in the hood. This kind of petty thievery really made their gears grind, especially from those of one overpowered over-the-top Villains. Of course it was a villain, you didn’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to know that. Could you actually believe that someone chose to do that with their abilities? Couldn’t they get a job or something? Detective had no special power, expect perhaps an innate gift to find themself in trouble, but it didn’t matter one bit. Villain had hurt someone they knew, they had to be stopped. Simple as that. Of course the hero agency had been contacted, but the Heroes were much too busy with crimes that “actually mattered” (yes, it was what they’d said on the phone.) Being unchecked, Villain hadn’t stopped there. Their people had broken into private properties just to steal cars, and only cars. It was like the beginning of a bad joke. This was getting really worrying, but the Hero agency didn’t care. As long as it didn’t hurt their sponsors, Detective supposed everything was fine and dandy. Well, not in their book.
It could have gone well. It could have gone very well. Success had been on the tip of their fingers, honestly. They’d gone undercover and had succeeded to find Villain’s headquarters, as well as all the codes to the doors. They’d sent all these findings to the Hero’s agency, just in case, and then they’d met Villain themself. Detective had scoffed at first at – well, everything. The costume, the theatrics, the melodrama. And then, they’d laid down their eyes...and they had frozen. They’d been quiet and still while the henchmen had dragged them away. Even now it was hard to snap out of it. They had no idea how long they’d been stuck in here.
Villain opened the door. The prisoner jumped on their feet. The day before, they would have tried a good old-fashioned headbutt, but not now. Not after what they’d seen. They stared as Villain put their fingertips together in reflection.
“Do you know who am I?” Detective asked abruptly.
Villain smirked:
“Are you going to try that on me? You’re in no position to bluff. You’re a nobody living in a bad neighborhood. That you have ties with the hero agency changes nothing. I doubt that they’ll come to your rescue.”
“No, I mean- Do you not remember me at all? Or are you just pretending?”
That made Villain pause. They examined their prisoner, but something about Detective’s attitude made gloating strangely difficult. Intrigued, even slightly amused, they tilted their head:
“Why should I?”
Detective closed their eyes:
“Okay. Hmm- okay. Do you remember a car crash from fifteen years ago?”
“There are a lot of car crashes in the world, Detective.”
“Not like that one. A blue old-fashioned car pushed another car off the road, and it crashed. It wasn’t an accident. There were four victims: the father, the mother, and two kids. One of them was a dumb twelve year-old. It was me. I got away with a few broken bones.”
“All of this is fascinating, but-”
“I don’t have a lot of memories of this day. I just have pictures, flashes. I saw the other car - how fast it was, how deliberately it bumped into us – the scream of my parents - the hand of my sibling emerging out of the rubble-”
“Are you accusing me?”
“-But I remember the next day very clearly. The grown-ups told me everyone else had died.”
“See, you’ve got this the wrong way. I am the one who is supposed to tell you my tragic origin story.”
“I think I am telling yours. You have a birth mark on your left hand that looks like a pentagram. My sibling had the same.”
There was a silence.
“Don’t you remember?" asked Detective with something akin to desperation. "Don’t you remember at all?”
Villain staggered on their feet. Unable to catch them up, Detective knelt next to them when they grabbed the wall, their knees buckling under them.
“The car,” Villain finally whispered. “Did it look – Was it a sedan?”
“I think so.”
“I see it. I see it all the time in my dreams.”
They wiped their forehead with a shaking hand:
“I-I thought you were an imaginary friend. No one told me I had a real sibling.”
“What happened to you?”
Villain avoided their gaze:
“Bad things.”
They lapsed into silence again, until Detective cleared their throat:
“Can you, uh-”
Villain pulled out a knife and cut the zip-ties that bound Detective’s hands. They stayed like this for a few tense seconds, barely glancing at each other, until Villain held out a tentative hand. Detective took a step closer and reeled them into their arms. Villain’s spine went rigid at first, but Detective awkwardly patted their back until they slowly relaxed.
“Am I the older sibling?” asked Villain.
“You wish. You’re two years younger. Why are you stealing cars?”
“Oh, it was going to be a very sophisticated scheme. Everyone thinks so anyway. But I think- I’m really looking for that blue car. I can’t think of something else. I keep getting back to it.”
“Do you want to look together?”
“I-Maybe?”
“Good.” Detective pressed them tighter. “Because I’m not going to let anything happen to you again. And I really, really want to know why everyone lied to us.”

The problem with MHA is that I'm very invested in this plot about superpowered highschool students just doing dumb shit and growing up, and I'm also very invested in the underground criminal found family group slowly growing in power... But basically no interest in those plots interacting aka the ever growing war plot.

As such, please enjoy our festivities filled with music, writing, and requests for your enjoyment!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me during this time! I truly appreciate every single one of you 💜
THIS EVENT HAS ENDED ! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT ! 💙
Tumblr media
▹ track one: i once believed love would be
requests are open! these fics will be at least 500 words for each request and will also be set in the canon universe. please see below in regards to the requesting guidelines.
guidelines:
in order for me to complete a request, it needs to have a character and a story/plot line. the characters i am currently taking requests for can be found at the end of this post.
i currently write only for fem!reader because that is what i have experience in and because i haven’t figured out the mechanics for gn!reader or male!reader.
i do not write smut (suggestive is ok!), gore, or cheating (done by/on reader), loss of child, incest, poly relationships or age regression. i have the right to delete or deny any requests that come through my inbox.
do not send me a request that you have already sent to another author. it’s icky, it’s iffy, and it ends up with at least one person getting hurt. it’s just a generally not great thing to do and i recommend not doing it at all. i understand that it might take longer than desired for your request to come out, but that doesn’t change the fact that the people who are writing these fics are exactly that: people.
please be patient! i am currently working three jobs and each of them carry their own demands. i will most definitely get to your request, but these things do take time.
Tumblr media
▹ track two: black and white
ask games!  these games include: fmk, general asks (ask me any question and i will answer!), etc.
find a list of ask games below:
emoji ask game ‼️ colour ask game (open to everyone) ‼️ character ask game ‼️ WIP ask game ‼️
Tumblr media
▹ track three: but it’s golden
alternate universe! send me a character in a situation that isn’t the norm (eg. single dad!spencer reid, rockstar!remus lupin) and i’ll write a drabble about it.
same rules & guidelines as track one.
i do not write hybrid!au, stoner!au or priest/religious!au.
Tumblr media
▹ track four: like daylight
bonus track : remix! send me an ask about a fic that i’ve already written (eg. sparks fly!reader, train rides!reader) and send a request based on those characters. this could mean asking directly for a spin-off or a short ‘part two’ to any of my existing standalone fics. please provide the character and the title of the fic that you would like me to remix <3
for example: how would sparks fly!reader react to post prison!reid?
same rules & guidelines as track one.
Tumblr media
▹ outro: singers & songwriters
here is a list of the characters i am willing to write for during this event!
criminal minds:
spencer reid, aaron hotchner

‼️ i no longer write fanfiction about real people. (aka, no rpf. sorry!) ‼️
Tumblr media
here are some examples as to what your request should look like!
▹ hi! could i request track one with spencer reid where he gets drunk and reader takes care of him please? thank you!
▹ hello! could i request track four with detention!damian wayne please? where reader suffers from nightmares following the attack? thank you!

𝟑𝟎 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬
Notes: The Holidays are coming up and my gift to you all is a bunch of reading 🫶, written by yours truly of course. Most of these works will be Christmas / New Years related. This is also to help introduce some newer characters to my blog so I can continue writing for them in the future! I included some extras at the bottom because there were some characters I really wanted to do but couldn’t fit in on the calendar, so they’re separate from the calendar but still apart of the event! This will be the masterlist for the event and will be updated as the month goes on. Some of these might be NSFW, some might not be.
