Getting severe Gigi x Slate brainrot recently so here we are
Gigi x Slate Headcanons
They are the literal embodiment of the grumpy x sunshine trope
It wasn't love at first sight for them, more like attraction at first sight
And then they slowly fell in love
Taking care of Gigi just kind of becomes second nature to Slate
Like, when he notices her shoelaces are untied, he ties them for her
When he notices that she's cold, he takes off his jacket and puts it on her
And he's really protective of her
He can listen to her ramble for hours but Gigi being Gigi, she often gets really curious about his past and asks too many questions
When that happens, he just kisses her to shut her up
Speaking of kissing, Slate is Gigi's first kiss
After he kisses her for the first time, she becomes unnaturally quiet and her face becomes red
Savannah asks her what's wrong and thinks she has a fever
And Gigi says that it's nothing and goes to her room but then a few minutes later she bursts out of her room screaming "MATTIAS SLATER KISSED ME" at the top of her lungs
Grayson nearly murders Slate when he finds out
Gigi is very physically affectionate and it takes Slate a while to get used to that
He's usually the one who's better at flirting verbally but the first time Gigi back-hugs him, he's so flustered he can barely form words
Gigi 100% steals his jackets, hoodies and sweaters
She sends cute cat videos to him all the time and he claims to never watch them but one day, she catches him watching one of the videos with a smile on his face
They talk together for hours, about anything and everything
As he works for Eve, Slate is always relaying Eve's messages and stuff so he doesn't really ever get to express his opinion on anything
But when he's talking with Gigi, he can do that
Their outdoor dates are like mini-adventures
Their indoor dates are comfortable yet fun
Gigi often falls asleep on top of Slate
Gigi makes really creative handmade gifts for him and he's so touched because no one's ever done that for him before
Slate loves kissing her
They usually hold hands when they walk around
In conclusion, Gigi x Slate is an adorable ship that I can't get out of my head and I request JLB to make them canon. Please.

DC x DP Prompt: Bruce is bad at emoting but at least ghosts are empathic (too bad bat kids are not)
Was reading Twincognito on AO3 when I stumbled across this gem again:
~
" “Danny, Tim. I was just…checking in. Is everything alright?” Curse his inability to make meaningful conversation when it wasn’t a life or death situation.
They glanced at each other and shrugged.
Then Danny hauled himself out of the bed and walked over to Bruce.
Bruce tried not to let too much excitement show on his face. "
~
Now I really want to read a story where Bruce adopts Danny post Meta trafficking and is being his usual emotionally constipated self. His kids keep getting mad at him because he's treating their new meta brother who was trafficked poorly (generally being stilted in conversation with him, walking away hurriedly mid-conversation, avoiding Danny when he's feeling really awkward, etc). They think Bruce is discriminating against Danny for being a civilian, meta, dealer's pick, but really it's just Bruce being horribly socially awkward. Danny knows this because of ghost empathy and find the whole thing hilarious. The whole thing comes to a head with the Bat Kids staging an intervention in the Bat Cave.

Like idk but-- something about how Laios is never once portrayed as desirable in the traditional way really gets to me. The entire series is about every kind of desire and how people deal with it, but as for the main character?? Sexually?? Romantically?? Not one single person. (There was that one auxiliary character but she was after his favor as team leader/perceived birth status, though he actually ran away from it all.)
There are even several jokes about how undesirable he is from a sexual/romantic standpoint. And while yes that does have some aroace flavor to it, given that he (in the show/manga anyway) shows no interest in romance or sex himself, so of course he wouldn't try to be appealing that way, I find it comforting from just-- a general standpoint??
Like that an author sat down and wrote a main character that's just plain awkward and unattractive in-universe, noticed, joked about sometimes (after all it is a comedy series), but the character himself is never ever The Joke, Laios is always shown as worth it. Worth watching. Worth knowing.
He's socially inept, the only reason he even shaves and cuts his hair is because he doesn't want to look like his father, he doesn't even care about romance let alone have the skills to be a good partner, and just... so what?? The story never asks us why. He just is.
He's the main character, he's himself. His story is worth telling, screw the love interest sideplot. It's worth seeing through.
He's enough.

he says i hate everyone except you and that is addictive and that is kind of romantic and beautiful because you're young and you're kind of a sarcastic asshole too and you don't like bad boys, per say, but you don't really like good ones either. and you like that you were the exception, it felt like winning.
except life is not a romance book, and he was kind of being honest. he doesn't learn to be nice to your friends. he only tolerates your family. you have to beg him to come with you to birthday parties, he complains the whole time. you want to go on a date but - people are often there, wherever you're going. he's just so angry. about everything, is the thing. in the romance book, doesn't he eventually soften? can't you teach him, through your own sense of whimsy and comfort?
at first - you know introverts often need smaller friend groups, and honestly, you're fine staying at home too. you like the small, tidy life you occupy. you're not going to punish him for his personality type.
except: he really does hate everyone but you. which means he doesn't get along with his therapist. which means he has no one to talk to except for you. which means you take care of him constantly, since he otherwise has no one. which means you sometimes have to apologize for him. which means he keeps you home from seeing your friends because he hates them. you're the single exception.
about a decade from this experience, you'll type into google: how to know if a relationship is codependent.
he wraps an arm around you. i hate everyone except you. these days, you're learning what he's actually confessing is i have very little practice being kind.

I think the issue I have with all of the pointless "art advice" that gets passed around on instagram/tiktok/etc is that it always acts like there's a set "end goal" to art- which is usually to be as realistic as possible ( I could also go into this for hours)- but that fundamentally misunderstands the point of art by acting like there's a Right or Wrong way to do things. Everybody has to figure out what the want from art and what their "goal" is; which can make a lot of art advice completely redundant and lead you down the wrong path
