the fact that sexuality ocd is named gay ocd as if lgbt+ people are not amongst the most affected mental health wise due to society's pressure and gaslight into cisheteronormativity....

ACCOUNTABILITY: What's the first impression this word creates in your mind? Often, I have seen people reacting to the term accountability as an allegation, a blame or 'crap, I am in trouble, aren't I?' At the start of next week Nicole Tomcho and I will discuss Accountability, what it means to us, and a bit of quid-pro-quo interview of each other (did I just really say that, omg!) will also be happening. All this is happening on the Premiere episode of #iSelfSCANShow. We will broadcast on YouTube but the videos will remain their for a limited time. For unlimited access, we recommend joining our LinkedIn & FB Group 'iCELSCAN' so you can watch the replays at any time. (More info below) Timings: Monday - 5 PM EST (US/Canada) Monday - 10 PM GMT (UK) Tuesday - 7 AM AEST (Australia) #Accountability #iCELSCAN #TheMentalpreneurs #21Decisions #ItBeginsWithME #ItBeginsWithYOU #MentalHealth #WomensHealth #LGBTMentalHealth #MensHealth #MentalWellness #Wellness #Mindset #BeyondTheBoxes #Courage #Resilience #Boundaries #Decisions #Trauma #Intention #Pride #SelfWorth #TRANSformation #StoryTelling #TalkShow #Health #Business #Success #Healing -------------------- https://www.instagram.com/p/CQUt_AblILp/?utm_medium=tumblr

Don't push yourself to come out until you're feeling safe and ready to do so...but also know that coming out is often recurrent. It's always your choice whether or not to disclose your personal identity, as there are so many situational contexts! But let's be real. There will be days when it's not emotionally safe, and your hands will shake, and your voice will crack, and your truth will burn so bright... Maybe you will have to correct a teacher who keeps misgendering you. Maybe you'll have to stand-up for what's right in the workplace. Maybe you'll see someone else in the closet and want to role model courage, just so they know they're not alone. Be proud of yourself amongst friends and allies. Be proud of yourself in the face of adversity. Obv, if you're not in the area, don't call these local resources, but these folks did such a nice neat compliation here. 💜 Sept is #suicideprevention month and its important. I'm glad ppl are talking about income, housing, and affordable healthcare as a HUGE part of suicide prevention. My own mental health has noticeably improved since gaining stable employment with a living wage and my own space. This is huge. ALSO depression, anxiety, self harm, and mental health challenges are NOT indicative of mental toughness. A lot of people do have a lot of empathy for mental health challenges. A lot don't. But no one else can tell you about your experience, or judge it as easy or hard. Do not judge yourself for "not doing enough." You are doing your best and that is great. 💜 Lastly, I've learned that descriptive language about feelings can help with things like journaling (hence the emotions pizza). And, autonomy and competence are crucial to mental health. When I was younger, this got me the most. I couldn't be myself, do anything I wanted, go anywhere I wanted--every minute of every day was scheduled and monitored. I had no control, I felt like I was good at nothing, and I had so much anger and despondency bc of it. It sounds stupid, but that really does get better with age. Dont be too hard on yourself. Very soon, you will not have to listen to your parents or teachers or whoever. You can be yourself, find what you like to do, meet new people, wear what you like and live your life as you want it. Give yourself time to heal, find your family, and yourself. ❤ . . . . . #nonbinary #nonbinarymemes #enby #enbymemes #lgbtq #transmemes #bisexual #gay #lesbian #trans #polysexual #lgbtmentalhealth #suicidepreventionmonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CFJECgZhUw7/?igshid=m3fgig2ysikj

Sorry I haven't had the energy to do most things. I've been struggling with depression. But I want to slowly get back into doing stuff. Yesterday I did a collage for the first time in weeks. Hope everyone is doing well. 🦄 #collage #collages #gayart #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #depression #bipolar #art #modernart #selfcare #candid #art #magazine #vogue #gq #expression #lgbtmentalhealth #lgbt #lgbtq🌈 #ftm #transman #boyswholikeboys #instagay #instahomo #vogue #gq https://www.instagram.com/p/B1wck59BDTk/?igshid=192k5hoklaxy9

"Maybe life should be about more than just surviving." -Clarke Griffin, The 100 💜 . As I move forward in my therapy and adult life, I think it's important to take a moment to recognize everything and to share my struggle to help combat the stigma against talking about mental health. The quote above is one I heard watching the show several years ago during one of my deeper depressive episodes, and so many of these last years have just been about getting by and hiding behind being rather “high functioning” to the outside world while a closer look showed anything but just getting through another day. But I am finally to a point where I want more, and a point that I don't need to just struggle through anymore. Instead of just treating the depression with my medication, I'm current transitioning to one that will hopefully combat my much longer-underlying anxiety disorder that has contributed to all aspects of my mental health. It's scary, stopping** a medication that got me through some very rough patches, but it hasn't been enough and I want to do more than just survive. I want to thrive and actually enjoy the things I love again. This is another step in my journey, and I hope it will prove to be a good one. Life is about more than just surviving. .💊 **Friendly reminder: I am a pharmacist and because of that helped design my cross-taper with my psychiatrist, especially as there is an interaction between the two meds in question. Please follow the guidance of the medical professionals in your life when it comes to stopping and starting medications 💜** #notcosplayrelated #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthstigma #depression #anxiety #bupropion #wellbutrin #vortioxetine #trintellix #medicalprofessionalmentalhealth #pharmacistmentalhealth #lgbtmentalhealth #medication #medicationchange #medchange #crosstaper #the100quote #the100quotes #the100 #clarkegriffinquote #clarkegriffinquotes #clarkegriffin https://www.instagram.com/p/BsrKrM7DgeL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=na7tu2n3bvdu

Being Queer and Happily Single

Finding Joy in Being Single: A Journey to Self-Love and Happiness 🌈💫
Hey wonderful beings! 🌟
Sometimes it can feel like we’re constantly being pressured to find that special someone.
The pressure of singlehood can sometimes feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
But the truth is, you can be happy no matter if you’re dating, in love, or single.
Here’s a short guide on we can find joy and self-love when we’re single.
🌷 Living in the Present: Whether you’re into monogamy, polyamory, or any form of connection, you can cultivate joy and practice gratitude while being single. Good coffee tastes good no matter if you’re single or partnered. You can still spend time with your friends, read your favourite books, or enjoy your special self-care rituals.
🍀 Self-Awareness and Self-Compassion: Often, it’s not the act of being single that is upsetting us, but the narratives we have woven around being single. Start observing your inner dialogue about being single. What stories do you tell yourself about your singlehood? Is it gentle? Or laden with shame and regret?
💜 Speak to Yourself Kindly: Heighten your self-awareness and be kind to yourself. For example, instead of telling yourself, “I’m single because no one wants me,” you can reframe: “I’m currently single and this allows me to focus on myself and learn about what I truly want.” Remember that you have so many positive qualities; you’re funny, you have passions, and you’re worthy of love.
🔍 Being Complete in Solitude: Societal norms often paint singlehood as a phase of incompleteness, but embracing solitude or casual connections is equally valid. We are complete by ourselves, even though others can complement us, too. So many people find joy with just being in their own presence. Our existence is multifaceted, and not just confined to romantic bonds.
🌈 Exploring Therapy: Growing up queer might have isolated many of us, hindering our emotional exploration. But now, we have the resilience and capabilities to learn from our past and embrace therapy to unravel our emotional narratives and foster self-love.
If singlehood feels overwhelming, and you desire to traverse this journey with support... We at Voda are here with you.
Voda offers a variety of free features like queer-led meditations, daily mood check-ins, and a series of free self-guided therapy programmes on topics such as coming out, love, and gender dysphoria.
Please note that some programmes require a monthly subscription, we ensure that plenty of our features are available for free to the community, plus everything is accessible for free in the first 7 days.
However, if you are in need of mental health support and facing financial constraints, please feel free to send us a message as we have scholarships available. Everyone deserves access to mental health support and we’re here for you.
You can download Voda here.
Stay radiant,
Voda 🌈💜

My day job is at mental health charity Core Arts, and it's the best day job I've had. In response to the startling suicide rates among Queer men, we were commissioned to form Queer Men’s Reference Group; on October 8th at 5pm, I lead a panel discussion on the results. It's followed by a night of Core Arts members rocking the stage: Queer Nation Under A Groove! The event is open to all, and it's free... So if you wanna find some solidarity or learn more about the experience of your Queer mates, come along & take part & then boogie into the night.... @corearts #QueerNationUnderAGroove #suicideprevention #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #lgbt #queer #queermen #gay #gayboy #londongigs #hackney #gaymenshealth #lgbtmentalhealth #transmen #bimen #homerton #corearts #mentalhealthtips (at Core Arts) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2_uWkqjcVn/?igshid=102zzxpjwnkbx

Society teaches us to bear the pain and not bother anyone with out agony. . My parents did not intentionally teach this to me. They were just passing on what they had learnt from the society "suffer in silence!" . So I did. . Chronic pain has been part of my journey for nearly 12 years. It started at work. . Work tried to and successfully washed their hands of their responsibility by misleading me, and naive as I was, I thought it was me. Story for another time. . So, now thanks to Jenna Green's courageous drive, I am finally opening up about my relationship with pain, invisible Illness and how it impacts my life. . If you suffer with invisible illness, stay tuned .. I'll be sharing my journey in hope to help others too, to open up and be vulnerable unapologetically! #InvisibleIllness #ChronicPain #Pain #Disability #Anxiety #Depression #MentalHealth #ADHD #OCD #PTSD #MentalHealthAwareness #Fear #MensMentalHealth #LGBTMentalHealth #NonBinaryMentalHealth #Mentalpreneurs #Podcast #Intentional #NotMyChoice #Szebastian #Strength https://www.instagram.com/p/CdKJjCWlwwS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It’s #mentalhealthawarenessmonth Talking about your mental health does not make you weak, in fact, it makes your Strong and Brave. It is easier to hide from mental health than it is to face it, that being said, it’s okay to take your time in confronting the things you fear. Mental health will only ever be about you! #lbgtq individuals are 3x as likely to attempt suicide than their counterparts. Let’s create a safe space for people of all different backgrounds, colors, shapes and sizes and support safe love of all kinds ♥️🧡💛💚💙💜 I try to weave lessons I have learned in therapy into my poems, not everyone can afford a therapist or has access to a therapist that works well for them. I would love to know if one of the poems from my book helped you! Sometimes even just not feeling alone with what you struggle with and seeing other people survive and grow from a similar place can give you the strength and courage to take the steps necessary to start working on yourself. It’s amazing how much I have grown once I made a commitment to really changing the way my brain thinks. Even after a year I still stumble and fall a lot but you know what!? I never fall back to my lowest point! So a set back is just a set back and it shows me that all my hard work is making a difference. #mentalhealthrecovery #lgbtmentalhealth #nonbinary #loveislove #selfcompassion #mentalhealth (at Cambridge, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw_6TlJBNvw/?igshid=vcgq4b8449ha
