In case it seems like every third comic has Batman in it... you're not wrong. He's been in 38.6% of DC issues since 2020, with a stark increase of 8% each decade since the 90s and surpassing Superman in popularity. Despite this, there's been a massive drop off of comics where he is teamed up with Superman or a Robin (although the amount of group team ups between Batman Family members has increased, as well as Nightwing solos).

Batman: …Superman, why are you hugging me?

Superman: This will be our daily therapy.

Batman: Are you… purring?

Flash: [enters the med bay] Don’t mind me guys, I’m just here to… Whoa. Is it Batman’s birthday today? Can I get a hug too?

Martian Manhunter: I am aware that vibrations produced by a cat's purr can aid in the process of healing. Perhaps this could be a good substitute, Batman. It may shorten your recovery time.

Batman: I’m not going to let myself be-

Superman: It’s either this or a month’s bed rest, Batman.

Martian Manhunter: Yes, we have 2 cats here [gestures at Batman and Green Lantern hissing at each other] and 1 dog there… [gestures towards the door]

The Flash bursts into the room, yelling about a missing coffee mug. He zips around briefly in search of it before dashing off again. Green Lantern huffs and stomps off to one corner, sweeping papers and pens off the table before lying down on it. Meanwhile, Batman stomps off to the other side where Superman is napping, climbing over him to reach a folder tucked behind a monitor.

Wonder Woman: I see. What about the other dog?

Martian Manhunter: [points to Superman]

Superman instinctively hugs Batman, only to receive an elbow jab in return. He wakes up and glances around in confusion. Catching Batman’s glare, Superman lies back down and closes his eyes, drifting back to sleep.

so I’m watching the 2010 season for the first time, and I came across this batshit crazy sebmark moment that I haven’t seen anyone talk about on here?? This is after Mark’s Spanish GP win, after the podium celebrations are over/winding down. Sebastian sprays Mark again, who opens up his mouth to “drink” it, then stands, and with a warning twinkle in his eye, says “boy!” And then maybe does a wink/cap doff thing? not sure if it’s a wink or a blink but. WHAT THE HELL.

I actually think this Dark Knights of Steel twist-reveal with Alfred as martian manhunter was a really fascinating one (I genuinely loved it).

An Elseworlds continuity which really took advantage of being able to take different interpretations of a character, by the writer of the Nightwing series where the presence of Alfred is felt throughout, despite his pre-series death

Here we have him as the last survivor of a genocide, who lost absolutely everything. Felt he failed in the worst possible way, as his fatally wounded child died in his arms - unable to even offer him any comfort, with both being telepaths.

He flees a dead world. Gets to try again. Martha and Thomas Wayne know what he is, but conceal the secret. Have him as one of their most trusted retainers, friends.

He gets to try again.

A smile on his face, he gets to see another boy grow.

Even as Martha and Thomas are murdered, he stays with their son, looking after him no matter what. Having faith in him. Loving him. To the point where a man who had his adored son brutally murdered in the dark, able to do nothing but watch him die, looks at this orphaned alien child and says -

-as he holds the lasso of truth.

It adds an additional, really interesting factor to the paternal relationship he has with Bruce in this particular setting. I wish we got to see more of it. Perhaps if they ever do more "Tales of the Kingdom", we may get to see it in a prologue manner.
