Tarot Tip/Advice🔮❣️
“I don’t feel connected to my cards/I feel like it’s not working”
If you’re having difficulty feeling connected to your cards, one tip is to try creating a “container” for when you’re working with tarot. This will help shut out the noise, distractions and physical world and allow you to bring peace, mindfulness, connection, and focus to the tarot reading.
What is a Container?
A container in this context is a practice/ritual (often found in trauma therapy) that allows a person to create a symbolic container for storing certain feelings, events, memories, sensations, etc. It has various uses and benefits.
Creating A Container
There are a few different ways to create a container. The main method I suggest for tarot reading can be thought of as bookends or sandwiches. To create a container for tarot reading, try incorporating other short practices for the beginning and end of the session. These can include:
Closing your eyes and talking to the universe
-beginning: channeling the universe; end: thanking the universe & reflecting
Setting up and breaking down your workspace
-beginning: lay down a cloth, burn incense, etc. ; end: breakdown your workspace and put everything away together in a specified box or space
Journaling before & after
-beginning: date, time, any topics/questions you have; end: sign your name or a quote relating to the reading or sign off phrase
Bookend mantras
-beginning: “I call upon those forces/spirits that are bigger than me to guide me” ; end: “I thank you force/spirits for your time and guidance”
There are of course plenty of other ways to create your container and I encourage you to explore the various ways to discover what does and doesn’t work for you. Feel free to add and share your methods here with others too!
Hope this helps💜

a concerning amount of witchblr will be like "um actually new years was stolen by europeans from the ancient god scroobus mcdoobus" and then you actually try to research scroobus mcdoobus and it turns out he was invented in the 1940s by a conspiracy theorist who powdered every meal with ketamine and thinks that queer people are reincarnated fish

Have we become so desensitized to this scene, or have we lost our value entirely?
Today, I went out to secure some food for my family. I don't want to talk about the high prices or the severe shortage of food supplies.
But what truly breaks my heart is the bombing of civilians in a school in the Nuseirat area, where many martyrs fell, most of them children and women. How long will this situation continue?
How long will we keep waiting? We need a radical solution. We are running out of strength to endure this.

Friendly reminder that:
The concept of starseeds promotes ableism by minimizing or denying ADHD and autism.
The ancient astronaut hypothesis promotes spiritual colonialism and destruction of other cultures by twisting other people's mythologies and sacred texts to fit their narratives.
The reptilian alien mythology is based on conspiracy theories historically used to justify oppressing and murdering real people. Loosh/blood/adrenochrome harvesting is just repackaged blood libel.
New Age mythology is chock full of repackaged right wing conspiracy theories, the same kind pushed by QAnon.
It's also full of repackaged racist pseudoscience about genetic superiority/inferiority and the function of evolution.
Ascension to 5D was supposed to have happened back in 2012, and the prediction failed.
New Agers are recycling their predictions over and over to catch new waves of people who don't know the movement's history.
Belief in Atlantis is strongly motivated by white supremacy.
For more info, see:
Looks like it's time to talk about starseeds and the New Age movement again.
How the mythology of starseeds, indigo children, crystal children, rainbow children, etc. harms kids
New Age YouTube channel caught recycling claims of imminent "first contact" for three years

If you want to separate yourself from whiteness then you first need to define yourself outside of it. This means asking yourself what you believe in, who you are, and what you believe is right or wrong without relying on the law or the bible or your friends or your political party or queer infographics to tell you the answer.
It means asking yourself honestly if you would still choose to support genocide or Kamala or Trump or capitalism or Tswift or war or the death penalty or laws or borders or traffic cops or oil based energy or putting most of our planets resources into killing people or asking if you Actually ever would've married your beard and asking if you'd still be transphobic....
If you didn't feel like you had to do any of that to fit in anymore.
If you didn't have to do that to keep your privileged status...would you?
Without whiteness there to use shame to control every aspect of who you are... Who are you? What do you believe? Would you still want to be white?
Or would you claim to be something else? Something new maybe?
Whiteness as a race is tied to whiteness as a concept. You can't destroy one without the other.
Would you choose to belong to the land you live on and build a home and community there or would you still insist the land belongs to you and try to subjugate everyone?
Is the violence that's inseparable from whiteness also inseparable from you?
If we as a society are ever going to move forward and fight fascism it will be by making the supporters of all it's branches (such as white supremacy) come face to face with the reality that they have a choice in what kind of person they want to be and it is Their choice that determines how they are treated.
Someone who's grown up being fed propaganda from the belly of fascism would have no concept of that choice. The ability to choose whether to support the ideology of white supremacy was never a question posed. Instead the state asks it's targets which branch of the state they support most. Or the state asks them how realistic other options are.
Existing outside the systems built by white supremacy isn't something that's Ever presented as possible and in fact it's quite actively and aggressively kept from ever being taken seriously in conscious thought.
So this is me.
Bringing it to your conscious thought.

You can write down as many correspondences as you want, memorize entire lists from someone else's blog or book or whatever, but none of it will matter if you do not understand those correspondences. It's so critically important to ask "Why?"
Why is spirit purple? Why is love red? Why is chamomile calm? Why is quartz "all purpose"? Why does cinnamon speed up a spell?
Why, why, why?
What do you actually believe? And why?

🚩🚩"Witch/Pagan" community PSA 🚩🚩
Goêteia is not evil, you dipshits.
I'm so sick of these neo-pagans getting all their information from Tumblr, Pinterest and TikTok.
Goêteia is literally just the Greek term for magic, for sorcery, which were one and the same.
Ancient Greece didn't have the word "witchcraft" it had Goêteia, and then later mageia, where we get our modern term magic from, although mageia was a misappropriated term from Zoroastrian priests or Magi.
It's so funny seeing baby witches claim Goêteia to be evil on one hand, then on the other worshipping Hekate, literally the goddess of Goêteia. The goddess of sorcerers and necromancy.
It screams puritanical morality policing. It's such a christian-centered way of looking at ancient religion.
Y'all need to open a damn book.
Goêteia was described as a "lesser" form of magic (mainly in the later Medieval period, roughly starting around the 8th century,) not meaning any less powerful, just simply the easiest or "closest" thus "lower" magic to achieve. This ability to more easily achieve success in magic was later taken and used by christian theologians to paint goêteia and Goêtes as "lesser practitioners."
There does seem to be little difference between Theurgy and goêteia as well,
Surprise!
Both Goêteia and Theurgy sharing the same goddamn workings through evocations of gods, the animation of statues, mediumship or what could be considered "divine possession" having a god or spirit speak through you, the use of iynx wheels / iynges, and mystery rites.
The only 'real' difference Theurgists claim, is that they "don't practice secularly/for selfish reasons" but supposedly rather to become closer to the divine. It's a nice sentiment, but total bullshit, because even in the Theurgic doctrine the Chaldean Oracles they bind the goddess Hekate to do their will.
Additionally, Theurgists had a more Neoplatonic belief, they essentially viewed a singular Oneness as supreme, the emanation from which all things return, a concept which was picked up by early christian theologians and is likely why while Goêtes were demonized in the later centuries mainly by early christians and christian philosophers, Theurgists on the other hand were seen as "pure" and "holier" despite Theurgical and Goêteic practices being pretty much exactly the same down to the tools and incantations.
(Agustine of Hippo for an example of these theologians, who wrote in "De civitate Dei contra Paganos", or "On the City of God Against the Pagans" how all "pagan" (non christian) gods and beliefs were secretly agents of Satan and evil, here to trick humanity into sin and that paganism, essentially any non christian faith, must be stopped–
He also wrote about how sorcerers/magicians (Goêtes) were charlatans, tricksters, that magic and sorcery were merely tricks of an invisible opposition to the divine and how only god could hold such supreme power. These ideas still seem to be deeply embedded into christian faith, particularly Orthodox and Evangelical, today.)
Practitioners of goêteia, the Goēs, was also understood to have the ability to initiate souls into mystery religions, or, in other words, to ensure through his superior knowledge of the Underworld and its workings that the souls under his care would receive preferential treatment after death, an easier way to paradise, such as the Orphic Hymns.
This likely also helped "other" the Goēs, as most practitioners of magic, of goêteia, of these mystery cults were made up of societies "unwanted" or marginalized people, such as women, foreigners, immigrants, the poor, the disabled, and the elderly. Early goêtes were described as being Thessalian (primarily women, particularly described as "old or decrepid") or. ethnically, not considered "fully Greek" to many of the era. Many critiques and fears of goêteia come from this "otherness," the fear the ruling classes of Greece had of groups they continued to harm, they feared the power they held within these mystery rites and practices.
With reliable accuracy from these critics, goêtes were (perceived to be) moral transgressors, who operated from the fringe of society in a private mago-mystical setting, offering their service for coin.
Or, in simpler terms, the Greeks were just really fucking racist
which is nothing new.
In fact, because goêteia itself is a synchronization of mainly Egyptian and Jewish magic, the Greeks and later christians went extra-hard into villifying it because they saw these people as lesser, as barbaric.
We have to understand where the fears and judgements of these critics were coming from, and continue to remain impartial. The ruling elite feared these practices because they feared losing their power, especially rich Greek men, and those early christian philosophers who saw everything outside their own faith as lies, manipulations, or tricks from "the Opposition" as well as the extremely racist and ethnocentric beliefs they held.

Divination/Metaphysical/Witchcraft community?
It’s only my first day on witchblr but I’m struggling to see a sense of community. Maybe it’s just because right now I’m just looking through tags but I feel like I’m seeing a lot of choppy, isolated posts and it doesn’t feel very communal?
As someone who got into witchcraft and divination through my boyfriend and who has loved visiting my psychic and her store and feeling connected to the universe, I feel like that communal/interconnectedness is very valuable to me.
I want to have deep discourse about the spiritual world, the universe, witchcraft, shadow work, witchcraft therapy, inner child healing, etc. I’m wondering where the spaces are to do so on witchblr/how to join those spaces. If something like that does not really exist I would love to help create that!!
tldr where is the online divination coven🥺

what's keeping you away from genuine ways of expressing yourself?
Tumblr media
this is a pick a pile tarot reading inspired by the new moon in leo, but is not specific to this particular moment in time. in astrology, the moon represents the unconscious mind, your emotions and in which ways your intuition works, while the zodiac sign leo is more oriented towards the ego, creativity and social relations. all of those things that tend to characterize this sign, usually means that some level of efficient and assertive communication is valuable for keeping away drama and misunderstandings, therefore, i thought about making this general reading to see what advice the cards have for something quite difficult for almost everyone: remaining true to our essence and being able to communicate that in a way that is genuine to us, our identity, our desires and our feelings, no matter who is listening.

˚ ༘ ೀpile number one ⋆。˚
Your card for this reading is the King of Swords. What this tells me is that you value intellectual honesty, and you’re willing to go against your own emotions if that means that you’ll find the truth and that you are very likely to be perceived as someone who doesn’t have a filter or is too honest. It’s key that you understand that even if you don’t allow yourself to be guided by emotional attachments, other people do. Being highly logical or highly sensitive are both valuable, and both ways of thinking and acting have their pros and cons. But this card wouldn’t pop up if the logical ways of approaching things wasn’t causing some issues. Although holding yourself to a high standard of rationality when it comes to manifestations of the unconscious or the way you naturally relate to others can be beneficial, I feel as if that is also causing you to react coldly to your own emotions, instead of embracing them. You need to let go of the idea that things must be coherent and make sense all time, we are humans, and many of what makes us human doesn’t make too much sense or doesn’t work according to logic. Seeking order, patterns and structure in places where there’s not a big need for those, is not going to give you the truths that serve your personal development. It’s key that you take some time to embrace what seems absurd about yourself, without looking for logic, but looking for experiences that will guide you to the answers you need.
˚ ༘ ೀpile number two ⋆。˚
The card for you on this reading is the Six of Wands. What I see here, is a lot of well deserved feelings of pride that you are protecting at all costs. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being proud, and I don’t even think this is the actual issue here. What’s blocking your most honest expressions is the fact that you are not allowing yourself the possibility of making a mistake, as you might feel this could take away from all the achievements you’ve had before. It’s key to know, when to be vulnerable, when to take a risk and where you are safe to try things out for the first time, but you are still not comfortable enough to embrace things about yourself that make you insecure, which is completely valid and understandable. In your case, I think that is okay if you want to preserve a sense of control over how others perceive you, yet it wouldn’t be healthy to allow others to expect things from you that are far too demanding to keep up with sometimes. It is necessary that you start setting honest boundaries with others and with yourself, in order to preserve a healthy sense of worth. Your value as a person is not defined by your achievements, or your failures, it is defined by how and why you do what you do no matter the result. When your intentions are honest and you are trying to better yourself or help others, it doesn’t matter what the final outcome is.
˚ ༘ ೀpile number three ⋆。˚
Your card is the Chariot. The meaning of this card has to do with life experiences, movement and some level of chaos that is necessary in order to grow. I see that you are capable to maintain a certain level of peace of mind even when things around you are hectic, and this is something that might attract some people who are either amazed or envious of this.  In your case, I think that being all over the place (socially, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally) means that you are not quite sure yet on where you stand in relation to certain aspects of your life. This might seem like a problem, because some people are more settled on their beliefs or have more stable lives than you, but in reality, the fact that you are willing to try everything you can before committing is actually something that makes your life something richer. It’s completely normal to feel uncertain, confused and lost, but this shouldn’t keep you away from giving yourself the credit you deserve for the way you have chosen to experience life. Take some pride on what makes you different, and take pride on the process of self exploration you are, even if you are far away from finding a solid philosophy or stability in your life, embrace the fact you are capable of experiencing things without many attachments.

This is your reminder that "New Age" is not a catch-all term for "modern spiritual practices I find shallow and annoying."
New Age is a specific form of spirituality centered around the belief that the Earth is about to enter a new cosmic cycle. Its mythology is mostly just a bunch of far right conspiracy theories in a spiritual hat. They believe in hyperdiffusionism, the ancient astronaut hypothesis, and some form of nearly every antisemitic trope in the book.
A lot of people who use the term "New Age" as a blanket term against people they find annoying or shallow are just as bad, believing in many of the same conspiracy theories and engaging in other forms of appropriation and/or erasure. (This is a major problem in Solomonic magic.) A bunch of people believe that Christian holidays were stolen from pagan ones, little realizing how much of this goes back to Alexander Hislop, a conspiracy theorist.
New Age isn't just a bunch of annoying white people appropriating Indigenous spirituality or practicing crystal healing or whatever. It's far more harmful than most people realize, and people are far more likely to share in its beliefs than they realize.
