Thinking about sleepy Damian Wayne...
He didn't sleep easily, not with the way his mind was always alert, always calculating. But here, with you, he let himself rest. His breathing was slow, his features soft, and his arm draped over your waist like he was making sure you wouldn't disappear.
You shifted slightly, and he grumbled, tightening his hold. “Stay still.”
You bit back a smile. "I'm not going anywhere."
He exhaled and pressed his face into the crook of your neck, his voice barely above a whisper. “Good.”
"Dami?" You whispered.
"Yes?"
"I love you."
"I love you too, my love."

Cute things hsr characters do

Note: These are short hcs with characters of things that i personally see as cute. Gn!reader. No Tws, Just soft characters!
March 7th: 📸
Sometime ago March had gifted you a plushie and ever since she’s called said plush “our son.” She has some stuffed animals herself that she’s put small accessories/clothes on; so it only makes sense for her to dress y’alls “son” up too. March also takes your shared son on shopping trips and tucks it in at night.
Aventurine: 🎲
Aventurine frequently gifts you custom tailored clothes and shoes. Some that are in your style, some that are matching with him, and some for more… intimate occasions. He knows your measurements by heart. Along with your preferences in fabrics, length, and style.
Gallagher: 🥃
Every time you bend down he slides one of his hands above your head so you don’t bump/hurt tour head. It’s not even a conscious decision his body just moves on its own to protect you, even in the smallest of ways.
Gepard: 🛡️
Walks on the side facing the road. It’s in his nature to protect others. This comes in various forms including blocking your body from the road. If anything or anyone dangerous comes from that side he can be your knight in shining armor. Truthfully this doesn’t stop at just roads. If you’re walking by a construction site he’ll also block you from that as well. He’d rather get hurt than have you hurt.
Sunday: 🪽
Sunday puts little post-it notes in your room + shared areas as a reminder. A reminder for what? All different things!! Some notes are reminders for any tasks you may have to do, including eating/drinking water. Others are just positive affirmations like that he loves you and is proud of you!!
Robin: 🕊️
Styles your hair and lets you style hers too. She has an image to uphold so she won’t wear the hair style you gave her out if it’s too crazy, but if it’s subtle or classy she’ll def wear it. She likes to run her hands through your hair and braid it (if you’ll let her.) She likes to think of this as a relaxing bonding moment. Since you gifted her this moment of relaxation she’ll sing to you. Sometimes it’s one of her own songs. Sometimes it’s just one she knows you love.
If you enjoyed please like, reblog and/Or reply! ( ^ω^ )

secrets - dick grayson
dick grayson x reader one shot
fluff; sfw
warnings; none. characters may be out of character, this is my first time writing for them and I haven’t seen young justice in a while. Not edited well lol
universe: young justice
summary; Dick likes you, and you like Dick, it’s obvious. The only people that don’t seem in on it, are the both of you, the rest of young justice seems to have a plan to fix that.

By this point, you and the group of now nearly young adults have gotten quite close, you could even say they are like family. Every member seems to have their own very special relationship with you that has grown over time and nothing has quite as much value as that. Your relationship with Dick how ever, is probably the closest connection you’ve ever had. From the very start you took to him, finding his humor and opinions fit just right with your own, and everyone else has seemed to notice that as well. M’gann has always pushed the idea of you and Dick being more than friends, which you’ve admitted liking the idea of. Alas, your nerves have created a large pool of anxiety to sit at the bottom of your stomach at the simple idea of conveying your feelings to him.
“He obviously likes you back, in love even!”
“You’re nervous for no reason, what if someone else comes along? Don’t you want to secure him?”
“If you don’t tell him me and Conner will!”
“Oh come on y/n, why don’t you believe me?! He totally wants you!”
You’ve heard it all really, her begs and pleads, trying to reason with you to just gain the courage and tell him. Little does she know, it isn’t that easy and over time she’s seemed to give up. You’re not sure why you have such a hard time believing he would feel the same way, Dick is just so special and the chance that he doesn’t feel that way can’t be taken.
Other than that, everyone is very open and honest with each other, maybe even too open some times. That’s why their behavior’s have been… odd the past few days. Whispering, huddling, and glances to the side have made you question if there’s something wrong, but when you’ve asked they all say everything is fine and not to worry. Little did you know, they had a plan to fix this on-going back and forth between you and Dick.
“I actually can’t stand you, quit winning!” Aqua-lads laughing could be heard over Wally’s moaning and groaning. “Maybe if you were better at this game, you’d win.” Mg’ann walks over to you with a sheepish grin, motioning with her head over to the boys arguing on the couch. “How many times have they played this game today?” She asks, causing you to sigh and shrug your shoulders. “Today, you mean in the last week? Kid’s never going to win.” You both laugh and walk over to the couch, standing behind it to watch the boys start their new match. You could care less about the game, but watching Wally squirm always makes you laugh.
Conner makes his way into the room after a while of watching them argue, after Wally of course loses again. “Won’t you go a little easier on me dude, seriously it’s not even fun any more!” Conner throws his arm around the Martian next to you, rolling his eyes at the childish behavior. “You still wouldn’t win, if it’s not fun anymore how could you keep playing it? I could hear you shrieking from my room.” Wally whips around and shoots Conner a deadly look, one that seemed to not phase the super boy. “Oh yeah? You try beating this fish freak then!” Conner gives his girl friend a small peck on the cheek before hopping the back of the couch and taking a seat next to the boys. They began a new game and started at it, tension filling the room. “I don’t wanna be in here when Conner wins.” You said, walking off with a chuckle. Your best friend follows behind you, both of you heading back to the kitchen to snack on the grapes you’ve been picking at for the last hour.
Days like this, no missions, no jobs to do, tend to bore you all but the boys arguing always make the days go by faster.
The base announces that Robin has finally arrived, making you sigh in relief that there’d be someone to break it up when Wally finally loses his mind. “What did I miss?” His voice rings through the kitchen, making you smile. You turn to see him, his usual comfortable get up that he wears when he’s not actively Robin. “A whole lot of nothing.” You sigh out as he walks over and pops a grape in his mouth. You had gotten the green ones because you know they are his favorite, “green, my favorite.” He grins, walking over to the couch after stealing a few more. “Robin!” Wally yells with a grin, his eyes lighting up at the sight of his best friend arriving. “You’re here! They’ve been kicking my ass 1v1, you gotta jump in!” Dick takes no time hopping on the couch and grabbing a controller making you roll your eyes. All these boys do are play games in their free time, or spar with eachother when they are tired of that.
A few hours later, they decided they had enough of the silly games and wanted to eat. Being the good team mate and friend that you are, you decided to cook them something, feeling extra nice. They all sat on the couch, chatting and giggling while you slave away in the kitchen. You were left with your thoughts and the sound of bacon sizzling on the pan until Dick appeared behind you, watching the bacon cook. “Hey.” You nearly jump out of your skin, turning to see a chuckling Robin. “Scare you?” He said with a smirk, a gleam shining from his iconic sunglasses. You roll your eyes and softly smack him across the arm, “no.” He chuckles to himself again, grabbing the tongs from the counter and flipping a few pieces on the pan that needed it. “You can go sit down if you want, y/n.” A small blush threatens to crawl onto your cheeks, but your pride won’t let it. Dick is the only one that ever offers to help you cook, and you’ve always found that so sweet. “No, we can do it together.” You said, smiling up at him which he quickly returns.
As the bacon cooks and you listen to Dick talk about his day before arriving, you notice the racket from earlier had subsided… too much. From the kitchen, you look over to eye your friends on the couch who seem to be whispering like they have been for the last week. What on earth? Why do they keep doing that? Since when do we keep secrets? You decide to ignore it and focus back on what Dick is saying, along with the food that he just finished up. “Come get it!” He yells from beside you, turning off the stove and walking the pan over to the table. You find yourself forgetting the whispering, and instead begin to think about how sweet Dick truly is to you and the rest of the team, but especially you. Wally comes rushing in, everyone else following behind. “Thanks Rob.” He says with a grin before sitting down to munch and crunch. Everyone else takes a seat, including you. “Don’t thank me, thank y/n.” Dick said with a sheepish smile, taking a seat across from you and Wally.
Kid smirks to himself, leaning over and giving you a small peck on the cheek. “Thanks, y/n.” This is the first time he’s ever done something so flirtatious with you, besides his usual boyish humor. A small blush does creep onto your cheeks this time, a gulp attempting to swallow your confusion. “Yeah, no problem.” Dick seems to eye Wally, like he was also confused on why he did that but it was left at that, dinner commencing.
After everyone talked and ate, you decided that sitting and watching a movie would be fun and relaxing. The movie carried on normally, how any watch fest with the team would until Wally’s arm seemed to drape over your shoulder loosely half way through the movie. To be honest, you didn’t even notice it at first, until you felt him scoot a little closer on the couch. That was when you felt the weight of his arm, even a little tug to get you closer. Just like the behavior at the table this confused you, and flustered you at the same time. The feelings you have for Dick have never been something you’ve had for Wally, and you never thought he liked you like that either. You felt a pair of eyes staring into your forehead, which by investigation was Dick, who had a look on his face at what you assumed was the arm around you. No body else looked over or said anything, like this was normal and the movie is just that good, which it’s really not. You also let the arm thing slide, that was until about ten minutes later, you feel Kid’s hand begin to rub circles onto your upper arm. “Wally? What are you doing?” You ask calmly, scooting away a tad and glancing his direction. “Yeah Wally, what are you doing?” Dick’s voice comes from the other side of the couch, laced with irritation. “Oh I’m sorry y/n, am I not allowed to touch you?” Wally asks, softly, ignoring Robin. You go to open your mouth and respond but another voice cuts you off. “No. You’re not.” Dick’s voice sounds even darker than before, a look of disgust on his face. Wally’s lips turn into a smug smirk, his arm leaving your shoulder. “You’re not y/n, why not let her answer?” He says, now turning to you. Everyone’s eyes seem to be on you, some looks of intrigue like they want to know the answer and others just enjoying the show it seems. “Her answer is no.” Dick responds again before you can speak, but it isn’t like you knew what to say. Dick stands up and walks over, taking a quick seat on the other side of you. “What’s your sudden interest in y/n, huh? What makes you think she’d want you?” Wally smirks at him, that usual snarky little face he gets when he knows he has started something. “Why do you care so much, Rob? Jealous?” The idea of him being jealous makes a blush appear on your cheeks for the second time tonight. He tuts his lips at Wally’s question and sits back, arms crossed. “No.” This makes your heart ache a bit, but you decide to sit back and watch the screen again, happy to see everyone else finished with that conversation and do the same.
-
That night had ended, and the next day comes, starting like most days, until it got later and someone was missing. The night before everyone had decided to sleep there, but you watched as Dick left early, not saying a word to anyone. You know him well and this is very much unlike him, but no body seemed to bring it up.
After worrying about it all day, the base announces that Robin has arrived, making everyone who is currently sitting on the couch, look over in the direction he’s expected from. He comes in, seeming a bit more like himself as he starts talking to everyone about something Bruce was telling him this morning.
Wally had been normal all day, no incidents happening like yesterday, which makes you even more confused about the whole thing.
“Do you want to cook again, or are we ordering food?” M’gann asks, clearly having food on the brain. “Let’s give this babe a break and order something.” Wally says, motioning over to you. Babe? Why is he flirting with you? You go to tell him to knock it off honestly, you don’t get why he’s flirting with you, but M’gann and Conner interrupt, going on about what to order. You notice Dick go quiet after this, as do you. Wally’s hand comes down and rests on your knee, your eyes quickly darting down to it. Another pair of eyes seem to do the same, Dick’s eyes. He gets that same expression as he did last night, but this time he also looks… sad? Before you can move his hand, which you were about to do, Dick quickly stands up, but only you seemed to notice. His fist quickly made contact with Wally’s face, making him fall back into the couch. It was so quick, and it definitely caught everyone’s attention. “Hey!” Wally yells as he presses his hand to his own face, which was probably on fire. “You fucking knew!” Dick yelled, fists clenched. “You’ve always known how I feel about y/n and you have the nerve to go after her- in front of me!” Your face goes into shock, completely taken aback by what he said. “How dare you.” He says very seriously, but sadness laced his words. Before anyone could speak he storms off, in the direction of the room he stays in when he’s here. The room goes silent, eyes all quickly darting away from eachother. “I’m sorry, I set this up, I didn’t know he would get so upset.” M’gann finally spoke, making everyone look in her direction. “He wants to kill me.” Wally sighed, shoulders falling in defeat. You feel very confused and now borderline frustrated, finally you speak. “What’s going on?” You say, tone confused but firm. “What did you do?” You say, looking at M’gann. “It wasn’t just her, we planned it. We wanted one of you to confess your feelings so we set it up to make Rob jealous and confess, we didn’t know he would freak out on him.” Conner said from next to her, a guilty look painting all their faces. This has all been so confusing it just now hits you that, Dick likes you back.
“You have to go talk to him, I’ll take the beating for it later.” Wally says with a small side ways grin, making you sigh, a flustered feeling coating your stomach. “Okay…” You said softly, going to stand and walk in the direction he went.
You took your sweet time, feeling nervous, what do you say? A solid knock on his door is all you have the courage to do, but he doesn’t respond. You stand there for a moment, frozen in fear before you build up the courage to do it again. “What.” Is all you hear, flat and hurt. “Can I come in, Rob?” You say softly, hand on the door. It stays quiet before you hear a shuffle and the door open. You push your way in softly, seeing his figure stand next to the door, closing it behind you. “Do you really want Wally?” He asks, in a point blank tone, an expression you’ve never seen on his face. Your eyes widen in surprise, an answer stuttering out. “What? No.” You could tell from his eyes that he actually cried a bit, making you feel worse. “He- he didn’t mean it! It was just to get one of us to admit we like eachother.” His eyes now widened, picking up on the fact that you just admitted to feeling the same way he did the whole time. “So you don’t want him?” He asks, face softening much more than before. You shake your head, twiddling your fingers down at your waist, “no, I want you.” His eyes seemed to light up instantly, a grin appearing against his will.
“Yeah?” He said, a grin also quickly appearing on you as well. “Yeah.” It seemed like he’d never make a move, nervousness still covering his face so you move in closer and grab his jaw, gently placing a kiss on his lips. It doesn’t take but a second for you both to melt into each other, his hands coming to hold your waist. He pulls at you to come closer, a hum of satisfaction leaving his lips. This led to some more long awaited kissing, both of you clearly relieved to finally have what you’ve always wanted. He pulls away eventually, looking down at you with admiration in his eyes and swollen lips.
“I totally knew you’d want me and not a guy who sucks at video games.”

PLAY PRETEND j.todd

☆ WORD COUNT - 3.1K

JASON TODD X FEM!READER
☆ SUMMARY - jason needs someone to act as his girlfriend to the gala, which you decide to go along with but jealousy and alcohol get the better of you leading to one too many drunken confessions.
☆ WARNINGS - drinking, alcohol, bad descriptions of being drunk, jealousy, angst, pining, manipulation, skinny love, crying, slight panic attack, use of good girl (non-sexual), comfort, petnames, use of y/n, intended lower case, nothing i write is ever proofread 🩷

you stood with your back against the drinks table, sighing through your pouted lips as you glanced around the room, hoping for some type of entertainment to catch your eye. you didn't even wish to be here, in fact, you would have done just about anything to be snuggled up in your bed reading a book right about now.
jason was the reason you were here in the first place and yet, he was nowhere to be seen.
you’d heard of the wayne gala’s a lot before, it wasn’t exactly new to you. you’d been to a couple of them yourself too but there was a reason you didn’t come to them often and one could guess it was because this is how it always ended, you sat up against the drinks table with expensive alcohol swirling in your expensive glass and dressed in your expensive dress. it was so… not you.
you were the type of girl that dragged your friends to junk yards and bought the cheapest clothes that you saw hidden in thrift stores.
not the type of girl that attended wayne gala’s.
and yet, here you stood all because you were so helplessly smitten with your all time best friend, jason todd, the son of bruce wayne, the redhood, the gentleman, the many, many things. he’d asked you to go to the wayne gala’s with him before, offering it up yet you always politely declined, stating it wasn’t your scene but this time was simply different.
you’d sat up on your bed, flicking through your magazines while jason rambled on as he began tearing his tie from around his throat. it was late, too late but jason never did care for the time when it came to seeing you.
you swallowed, nodding along and humming. it was just so late and you’d only woken up so your mind was all fuzzy and for some reason you couldn’t stop thinking about how nice some grapes would taste right about now. “are you listening to me?” the question from jason was rhetorical but you’d be lying if you said your undivided attention as on him. “i’m a dead man!”
“it’s not that big of a deal.” you uttered, closing your magazine and sighing, you really wanted some grapes. “really, you’re only stressing yourself out. you’re an… attractive guy, i’m sure you’ll get a girlfriend between now and the next gala.”
“but thats the thing… i don’t want a girlfriend!” sheesh, your head was too clouded for his yelling. “i shouldn’t have opened my mouth.”
you could only shrug your shoulders, nodding. “true.”
he took a seat on the pink quilts that surrounded your bed, his head falling into his hands and groaning. “you’re not helping.”
jason had made the idiotic choice of lying to bruce when asked if he had a girlfriend. he was just so tired of him asking and asking and asking so he decided to lie, telling him that he did in fact have a girlfriend and that they’d been together for quite a while now, he’d just been saving the announcement for a more special day.
so what did bruce do? announce it at his next gala, stating that jason would surely be bringing her along for the next.
and jason almost choked on his bourbon.
he was dressed in his suit from before, his hair all messed and teased while his clothes just looked out of it, his shirt untucked, his jacket discarded on the ground and he had pulled the tie from his neck, unbuttoning the first two or three buttons, he felt like he was going to collapse.
“i’m sorry.” you spoke softly, feeling sympathetic for your ‘best friend’. you turned to him, clad in your pretty pink pijama’s and softening your gaze on him. “how can i help?”
the way you looked at him should have told him everything. what your gaze should have said was that you were in love with him, you had been since the very first day you’d laid your eyes on him, gaze never leaving and your jaw falling slack. okay, perhaps you hadn’t loved him during your first encounter but there was definitely… something, something that told you this wasn’t just any boy but he was something much much more.
it should have told him a lot of things, should have spilled your feelings right then and there but jason was as oblivious as they come, he hadn’t a notion of what your gaze meant. in fact, he blamed the diluted pupils on the fact that he’d woken you up, banging on your door at all hours of the night.
“you could help in one way but… nevermind, it’s stupid.” shaking his head and turning away. the master of manipulation.
and you looked almost concerned then, the victim of that very manipulation. “no, what is it? i wanna help.”
and he knew you did, it’s why he said anything in the first place. sweet old you, always willing to do anything he said, just to please him.
“you could… you know, pretend to be my girlfriend, it would just be for the night, for the gala. you know, to get everyone off my back?” his eyes stared back at you, big and hopeful.
how could you, in your right mind, say no when you were so utterly full of love for the boy. “wha… i don’t even have a dress.” an excuse, a terrible one because something in you was downright shocked. you? of all people? first, you could barely go to that gala as it was let alone pretend to be his girlfriend.
besides, you began to get a little worried. perhaps you’d like the pretend game a little too much.
“i’ll buy you a dress.” he insisted almost instantly. lord knew he had the money.
but you frowned a little at that. “i’m not a charity case, jay…” sure, your apartment was a little small but it was homely, it was you. though you were sure it didn’t much live up to jasons standards.
“not a charity case, i know.” he came a little closer, pressing his hand against your thigh and rubbing it gently. “i just want you to feel your best for the night, angel, it’s just one night.”
you bit down on your lip, knowing you’d regret it. “fine.”
but for jason, you’d face just about any guilt.
and after his many thank you’s and squishing hugs that had your face smushed against your chest you finally sighed out. “I can’t believe i’m doing this for you.” sending him a playful glare though there was a pit in your stomach.
“please.” he couldn’t help but smirk. “you love me.”
and you couldn’t possibly tear your eyes away from him. without playfulness or a smile, you spoke the words, “I’d have to be a fool.” before quickly shaking your head and changing the subject. “you have to wear a pink tie to match my dress.”
he had the audacity to laugh in your face. “I will not.”
“yes you will.” you folded your arms over your chest. “you will or i’m not going.”
jason couldn’t help but shake his head with a chuckle. “fine.”
“fine.” you repeated. “now go get me grapes from the fridge.”
brat.
you’d been announced as his girlfriend, he’d held your waist for the entire night, grinned and beamed over at you as his brothers watched sceptically.
now, you sat alone at a table, downing what felt like your hundredth glass.
you didn’t drink often so you gave yourself a little lean for this time, seeing as you never did it, now was your chance to get absolutely… shitfaced, did damian call it?
but it wasn’t as if you didn’t have a good reason.
jason, your best friend, your first and last love, was standing speaking to some blonde girl, she was giggling away, obviously pleased with herself as if she didn’t have a lipgloss smudge on her teeth. and you? you couldn’t have been more ashamed with yourself.
your head was placed on your arm that was slinked across the white tablecloth, just watching the pair as the alcohol swirled in your cup. you wondered how you went from eating the white grapes to downing the white wine in your hands.
then your eyes glanced back to jason, in his pretty pink tie, and it all made sense.
he was your best friend, you had no right to be jealous, no reason to be but for some reason you thought by him bringing you here, introducing you as his girlfriend meant something.
but it was all just play pretend.
you knew this, you knew it as well as anyone and yet you still couldn’t help but feel so utterly… hurt.
your eyes burned but you weren’t crying, your throat burned but that was only because of the alcohol that didn’t even taste nice.
they should really have grapejuice here, the non-alcoholic kind.
it was dick grayson who’d laid his hands on your shoulders that adverted your gaze from jason. your pupils were wide, the rims of your eyes red though you weren’t sure if that was due to the alcohol or the fact that you were holding your own tears at bay.
“hey, y/n, how you feeling?” his tone was soft, understanding. he really was one of your best friends. he was crouched down to your level as you sat in the chair.
you glanced down to the cup in your hands. “think ‘m drunk, dickie.” because suddenly the entire room was spinning.
“yeah.” he pressed his lips into a thin line. “think maybe you’re done for tonight, huh?” taking the glass from your hands before you could so much as protest.
with heavy eyes and an even heavier heart, you nodded your head. “think ‘m… ‘m gonna go home.” home was where your bed is, they say. but saying you were going home and directing it towards your house didn’t even sound right. home was that curly, raven haired boy with a pretty smile.
“don’t go home.” his eyes glanced towards jason, sighing. “don’t go before you’ve talked to him.”
dick was one of your best friends. with that being said, he knew everything about you down to where your birthmarks were, that meant he knew all about these hidden feelings for your supposed best friend jason todd, his dear little brother.
but you could only shake your head. even thinking about jason right now was enough to make you queasy. “no, he’s talkin’ to blondie.” blondie, the pretty girl who you couldn’t even judge if you wanted to. she had a dark black dress on, she was much taller than you, large heels and standing with her shoulders drawn back, obviously much more confident too.
was she everything that you lacked?
as if summoning him, you could feel the dark shadow that loomed over you, even with your head pressed against that damned tabelcloth, even that was expensive.
“is she alright?”
that voice, that pretty, deep, and almost mysterious voice yet as perplexing as it was, you were sure that you’d recognise that voice amiss any crowd, through any drink that entered your system. jason still roamed your mind, always and when his voice was spoken, you were sure to hear it.
“she’s drunk.” dick answered for you, as though you weren’t sitting right next to him. “i think you should bring her upstairs, get her cleaned up and put to bed.” dick was doing you a favour in the long run, even if it didn’t feel like it.
but your head had finally risen from the table, big doey eyes staring up at the two large men above you. “n-no i can… i can bring myself home.” your words slurring.
jason couldn’t help but laugh down at you, glossy lips turned into a pout. “yeah, cause i’d let you ride your little bicycle through gotham alone, at this hour of the night, in the state that you’re in.” of course, you were the only one in the entire world that would ride one of those pretty pink bikes with a woven basket in gotham. “come on, let me put you to bed.”
you don’t remember bidding goodbye to dick but you were sure you had. you didn’t remember moving from the table to the door, practically being pushed by jason. however, you did vaguely remember uttering the words, “you need’a say g’night to blondie.” to which he responded with. “who?”
that confused you because he genuinely seemed confused, as though he hadn’t even remembered the colour of the hair belonging to the girl he’d just spoken to. had he really been that uninterested or was he just putting on a show?
you did remember, however, sitting on the cold tiles of jason’s bathroom floor after he’d undressed you, stripping you to your undergarments and placing a long tee over you. you remembered the way his hands gently did it, soothing you as he went, uttering soft words and assuring you that it was okay.
in no way did he make anything sexual, instead, he was merely caring for his ‘best friend’.
you remembered the way the tears began rolling down your cheeks as you dry sobbed pathetically, the drink getting the better of you.
jason had been tending to your face, a cotton pad covered in micellar water gently cleansing your skin, softly dancing it across the makeup that covered your face and wiping it clean. he wasn’t used to taking off makeup, obviously, so this was a little difficult for him. but he got used to it.
it wasn’t the first time he’d done it for you.
only difference was this time he was comforting your cries at the same time. “shh, shh, c’mon, tell me wh’s the matter, baby?” all soft and gentle with you as you couldn’t do anything but let the liquidy tears fall down your face, trying to avoid his gaze. “c’mon, tell jay wh’s wrong so he can fix it.”
but how were you to tell him that the reason you were crying was because you loved him?
you couldn’t, so instead you opted for shaking your head, words practically heaving out of you as your breaths became laboured and uneven.
jason could tell where this was going.
he’d comforted you on multiple occasions, some worse than others but that didn’t change the fact that he knew you from the inside and out. “hey, hey, breathe, pretty girl, breathe.”
he’d taken your head in the palm of his hand, gently placing it against his chest so that you could feel the way his own chest rose and fell and hear the way his heart beated against his ribcage. he knew this was a good thing to do when it came to you, this was a reminder that he was alive and by the way you could hear and feel it too, surely, you were alive as well.
it was grounding.
“in with me, c’mon, angel.” breathing in and you followed, trying to take as much air into your lungs as you possibly could. “‘n out, good girl.” he praised, hearing the shaky breath that you still let out.
when your breathing had regulated back to normal, there were still tears streaming down your face and you couldn’t help but cry and whimper pathetically. you could blame the alcohol or you could blame the fact that you’d gotten so caught up in play pretend that you’d forgotten yourself, who you were and what you really meant to jason.
“s-shouldn’t have come.” you muttered through your desperate cries. “shouldn’t have come here.” while the messy tears coated your perfect skin.
it broke jason’s heart. you were his bubbly girl, always grinning and smiling, laughing at jokes you didn’t understand, grinning at people you didn’t even particularly like, you were nothing but good. you were gold, if the colour was a person, it was you. your heart was as big as a heart could get yet you know what they say, the bigger the person, the harder they fall.
and sometimes your poor golden heart simply couldn’t take the mean world.
“what?” suddenly, his own heart began to shatter. he suddenly felt as though it was his fault. you were acting like this because you didn’t want to be here, because either something had happened or simply you were too overstimulated due to the gala itself (poor oblivious jason still hadn’t got it right.) whatever the case, he’d been the one to drag you along here and now he felt guilt pang his heart heavily. “no, no everyone loved you, what are you talking about?”
your teary, broken eyes glanced up at him, and you couldn’t tear your eyes away.
perhaps it was the too much alcohol that had entered your lightweight system or perhaps it was the way he looked so… dreamy, even through your blurred vision. his pretty sapphire eyes gazed down at you, so full of concern and worry. he cared so deeply about you, you could tell from his eyes. the slope of his nose, his pretty lips drawn into a frown, his sharp jaw line and the little curls of his hair, white streaks at the front on wide display.
“i’m a fool.” you uttered, so pathetically, full of realisation.
once again, his black brows furrowed in confusion yet also so full of concern. he wanted to understand, to help you but you were proving it awfully difficult, not that he blamed you. “what? you’re not a fool, what are you talking about?”
you sniffled, practically blubbering. “i told you i’d have to be a fool to love you ‘n if that’s true then i’m a fool.” you hadn’t a notion of what possessed your mouth to move, possessed you to speak. “‘m the biggest fool in the world because i love you so much ‘n im scared i’ll never be able to stop loving you.”
and the biggest problem was that you were sure he’d never feel the same.
“is that what all of this is about?” he had to stop himself from chuckling at you, otherwise youd take it the wrong way and the tears would begin again. instead, his eyes softened and his hand came down to move the hair from your face. “you should have just told me, princess, all of this could have been avoided.”
you stared up at him with those dazed, confused eyes.
“when i told you i didn’t want a girlfriend.” he confessed. “it wasn’t because i didn’t want one it was because i didn’t want one that’s not you.” you had to blink at him, thinking it was all merely a dream. “i love you too, sweet girl, always have, always will.”
and you were sure it was a dream.
“jay?”
“yeah?”
“will you tell me this again when i’m sober?”
a chuckle.
“of course, angel.”
“promise?”
“i promise.”

↞ to One Piece Masterlist | Request Rules | Blog Navigation ↠
You knew the arm wrapped around you wasn’t attached to a body.
You knew it the moment you began to wake up, throat dry and eyes burningly heavy. The arm was soft and comforting as always…but the lack of the body it belonged to had you semi-fully awake.
The girl's quarters were dark, the only light dimly seeping in from the crack under the door, though it was just enough ligh to see the arm holding you. An arm that had bloomed from the soft mattress beneath you. The master of this bloomed arm was missing, just as you had known, but seeing the nearly empty spot next to you confirmed it.
It wasn’t unusual for you to wake up and find a missing Robin. Some nights she struggled to sleep and some mornings she was up even before Sanji. And although it was usual it still didn’t help ease your missing her.
You turned into the arms hold, brushing your hand up her forearm so that you could take hers gently. You raised the hand to your lips and placed a sweet kiss to the inside of her wrist, the bloomed hand giving you a small squeeze before poofing away in a cloud of pink petals and the smell of cherry blossoms.
Nami gave a small, airy mumble in her sleep as you swung your legs over the edge of your bed, shoving your feet into your pair of fluffy slippers. You tried your hardest to muffle the sound of your exit, not wishing to wake Nami up and enact her wrath.
The rest of the ship was warmly quiet, everyone within dreaming soundly. You wound your way to the first floor and heard how the rest of your crew was sleeping.
Deeply sound but oh so loud.
It was sounds you once thought nothing human could make, but no matter how loud and bone-shaking, it was yet another thing you had grown to find comfort in.
A salt-filled breeze greeted you as you made your way outside, the deck of the Sunny awash in the silvery glow of the ever-watchful moon hanging above. It gave you enough light to make your way safely across the Sunny and towards the stern, where the library observation room was located.
It was also where you knew she would be held up.
You carefully opened the door, finding the lamp had been switched on to give the room a near-golden glow. Your eyes scanned the rounded room, taking in all the different books your crew had filled the shelves with. Took in the small table at the center of the room and the ladder leading up to the washroom before they finally landed on Robin sitting curled up on the plush bench that rounded the room.
Her sapphire blue eyes were already watching you, a toothless smile pulling to her lips you were quick to return.
“Couldn’t sleep?” You questioned as you shut the door behind you.
“I’m nearly finished with this book.” She said in that silky smooth voice of hers. “It was all I could think about.”
You knew it was only part of the reason she couldn’t sleep. Knew there definitely was much more on her mind than the story in her hands, but you didn’t push for the truth. You never pushed. You two had come far enough together. She would come to you about that stuff when she was ready to talk, just as you would do the same.
And besides, it was far too late for such discussions.
“I think this is the fastest you’ve read a book yet.” You mused, grabbing a big, fluffy blanket from the basket full of them in the corner.
“Oh? You think so?” Robin’s blue eyes tracked you as you crossed the way over to her.
“Yep. Your fastest record was a week. This book has only taken you--what? Five days?” Robin gave a closed-lipped chuckle, placing her book over her knee to give you her full attention.
“I would say that’s still about a week.” You shook your head.
“Nope,” You gave the ending of the word a nice pop. “There are seven days in a week and you, my dear, have taken two less days than that.” The corner of her eyes crinkled as she smiled up at you.
You remembered a time when her smiles never quite reached her eyes. Remembered a time when those smiles seemed like they were almost an act.
So you made sure to take a few seconds any time she gifted the world such a smile. A whole face smile that you wanted to burn right into your memory and never forget.
“If you insist, flower.” You gave a small chuckle yourself, leaning down to kiss her forehead gently.
“Can I cuddle with you till you finish? I got a bit lonely.” Robin gave you an instant nod, holding one of her arms out in welcome.
You quickly climbed onto the light blue cushioned bench, pressing your side flush to hers and shimming a bit down so that your head could rest on her collarbones. Her arm wrapped around you tightly, keeping you closer as you threw the blanket over you both.
Once settled, Robin bloomed two new arms to hold her book up while she held you close. She nuzzled her nose against your forehead before placing a tender kiss there.
“I’m--sorry for leaving…” She murmured against your skin.
“It’s okay.” You snaked your arms around her waist, letting your fingers lazily move up and down her side. “Next time you can read in bed with me. Nami wouldn’t mind it if you used her book light, I don’t think and the light won’t bother me.” Robin kept her face against your forehead in quiet thought for a moment longer. Just breathing you in and taking in your presence.
“Thank you.” She placed another kiss to your forehead before turning so her cheek rested against your head as she read.
“You’ll have to tell me the rating you give this book after you finish, m’kay?” You snuggled closer into her warmth, eyes growing heavy with sleep all over again. Robin gave a small nod.
“Anything for you, flower.”

Remember those og youtube challenges where beauty gurus had their s/os doing their makeup? Ok so maybe the crew were invited to some luxurious island or something and reader injured their arm prior to this event, so entrusted their beauty routine to the strawhats? I know nami & robin won’t let us down, but I’m so ready for the guys to mess us up. 💄 - 🩵
Hii love, how are you!!? Love the idea once again🫶🏻🫶🏻
📂Strawhats doing your make-up for an event

Luffy
He was so excited to learn about what make up was and how to help you with it!
He was listening to your explanation with big eyes and attentive ears
When it came to actually do it, he tried his best to focus, but it ended up looking goofy asf 💀
The eyebrows were overdrawn, the eyeshadow was not blended at all, the eyeliner wing was wonky
You looked like a fun experience of make up that’s for sure, a kid drawing at best
You didn’t want to hurt his feeling telling him it looked bad, so you said it was fine
He left satisfied proud of himself
It looked better done by you even with your handicap 😭
He tried tho 😭🫶🏻
Usopp
He was hella confident, saying he knew some skills from Kaya, so he totallyyyy got it.
The moment he got his hand on your make-up your brushes, he totally freaked out and didn’t know where to start. He forgot everything she taught him.
He admitted he was lost with embarrassment, but instantly relaxed when you chuckled reassuring him and helped him through it.
He actually really did a great job. Well expected from the artist and snipper of the crew, his abilities for details didn’t disappoint.
You ask him to help you from now on, when you’re having a bad make-up day🚶🏻♀️
Zoro
Man was lost lost. He glared at you like “why the fuck are you asking me?”
He said no and walked away, but you whined telling him the others were busy getting ready and he was already done so it was the least he could do.
He stayed firm on his position, but only agreed when you brought up, you could bribe Nami into reducing his debts towards her.
Kinda worked?
He did a horrible job :/
We love you Zoro but make up isn’t quite for you😔
Sanji
He was sooooo down for it. He was smiling so hard and was lowkey dreaming about being able to help you with your make-up routine.
When you asked, he accepted immediately, even cutting you off mid-sentence
He was already on his way to prepare some snacks for you while he helps you out.
He was listening to you very carefully, not wanting to miss out on any of your indications and ruin it.
He was so good and gentle with it?? He was blushing like crazy, being so close to your face, but he got the job done.
He would softly ask you if this was alright and if you liked it. Always asking for feedback so it’s at your liking. Never felt annoyed when you asked to redo something. He was so nice and cool about it which made the experience so enjoyable.
You loved it sm & gave him a big hug that got him on a good mood for the rest of the day☹️
Nami
When you asked her, she totally understood on the spot and sat you on a chair close to her.
Before she started, she asked you what was your vision and what you wanted basically.
She gave you advice on what would look best on your facial features, and what would go along with your outfit.
It felt like a professional session, she super focused
Y'all spoke about fashion the whole time and she was so enthusiastic and hyped about the whole thing
She gossiped about who could possibly be there at the event and if there was gonna be anything worth doing, stealing
the end result was so good, it was even better than you imagined it
10/10 would recommend again
Robin
She nodded and asked you to sit somewhere
After she got a general idea of what you wanted she started to work on your make-up at first silently, trying to build the base
As she saw time was running out, she used her devil fruit power to make it quicker and do both side at the same time.
You made a joke about her power being useful and she chuckled before agreeing
she started to speak about her DF and how as she grew up, she kept finding uses to it
It was really a nice and almost healing time
Robin felt like an older sister doing your make up as Nami had more of that best friend vibe
She even fixed your hair to make sure your look was completed and proposed you look through her accessories if you wanted
love her !!!

Nami, Robin and Hancock with a protective significant other.
Summary: How would Nami, Robin and Hancock feel about a protective and powerful significant other?
Warnings: Gender neutral reader (though masculine!reader was in thought while writing), Robin uses the word "handsome" to describe reader
Word count: 368
Nami
She LOVES it omg
Will let you take over her fights and cheer you on in the background (probably with Usopp lol)
Always super worried after fights and constantly asks you if you’re okay or if you’re sure you do not need to go see Chopper
Loves the small protective things you do, like putting your hands on her waist or shoulders, holding her hand in crowds, the stares you give to men who look at her weirdly, etc.
Will definitely tell you if she needs you to step back. Although she loves being taken care of, she needs to prove herself at times too.
She’ll be protective of you too, but in a different way. Nami’s not super strong, but she always makes sure that you’re doing well, that you’ve eaten, that you’ve slept well, and that you don’t get hurt.
She would feel SO bad if you got hurt for her. Like she will actually cry and call you an idiot (out of love of course)
Robin
She is so not used to being protected
While she appreciates it, she also doesn’t quite understand why? Is she not strong enough?
After having a conversation about it with you though, it just makes her happy to know that it’s out of love and not because you’re underestimating her
Will probably tease you a little bit after a fight you helped her with
“Oh my! Aren’t you just strong and handsome, huh?” she pokes your cheek and giggles at you. Your face is all red but you don’t know for sure if it’s from her teasing or from the fight you just finished.
Hancock
Immediate heart eyes
Will lose her mind if you fight for not only her but for her island also
Might let you just be the spokesperson for her, she's tired as hell of having to talk to gross, incompetent marines and pirates
The same way you’re protective of her, she will also be protective of you
She will NOT tolerate anyone flirting with you
She really loves that she can lower her guard around you though, she trusts that you will protect her even in her moments of weakness, the same way she would do for you

Trust Me
Pairing: Robin Buckley x fem!Reader x Platonic!Steve
Summary: Robin is trying to hide her relationship with you from Steve. He is adamant about figuring out her secret. 2.5k words
Warnings: swearing, insecurities.
//first fic back on Tumblr! I'm excited but also nervous bc idk my workload so updates might be sparse.
Robin anxiously glanced at the small silver watch on her arm, her heart pounding out of her chest. The fluorescent lights gave Robin a headache as she stole looks at the clock at Family Video every 30 minutes for the last few hours. Uncharacteristically quiet, Robin, who was known for her boisterous personality, seemed lost in a sea of her own thoughts. Today was different. She was nervous about her upcoming date with you shortly after work.
After spending a year at Family Video after Starcourt Mall burned down, she assumed the role of a co-manager at the store. The promotion had caused a tinge of saltiness in Steve, who couldn't help but feel slighted by the decision. However, knowing Keith, he would have chosen Robin's competence over Steve's charisma any day.
Tapping her foot on the carpeted floor absentmindedly, Robin contemplated what she would say to you. Every time your eyes met hers, she found herself drowning in her emotions. Your contagious smile would leave her speechless, and any words she had planned to say evaporated into thin air.
“Hey, what’s up with you? Are you nervous or something?” Steve leaned casually against the counter, observing Robin as she stacked up some movies to be shelved. His voice carried a hint of worry, concern etched across his face.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Robin replied bluntly. She didn’t even look at him as she worked, seemingly annoyed by his presence. He furrowed his brow but decided to let it slide for now.
Steve didn’t know that Robin had a date tonight, or that she was even dating at all. He watched as Robin adjusted her collar and cast another glance at the clock yet again. He would have found her anxious state peculiar under normal circumstances, but Robin's anxious nature was something he had grown accustomed to. He decided not to mention it.
“By the way, do you want to catch a movie with me? Pretty in Pink just came out, and I remember you said you wanted to see it.” Steve suggested, with a tinge of hope in his voice, grunting quietly while he set up displays around the store. The two were within earshot thanks to the store’s both tiny and empty space.
Robin scoffed lightly at his proposal, amusement laced her tone. “I don’t think it’ll be very interesting for you, Stevie,” Robin responded, rolling her eyes as she observed Steve shrug carelessly from across the room.
“I’m seeing it for you, dumbass.” Steve retorted, taking an extra pause to admire the ‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High’ cardboard cutout of Phoebe Cates. He breathed out a quiet longing sigh and strolled over to the main desk.
Robin shrugged. “Sorry dumbass, I’m busy tonight. Gotta get going right after my shift.” She spoke, reaching for the compact mirror in her pocket. She checked her mascara, her fingers delicately brushing over her lashes as she assessed her mascara, sighing softly as she realized she'd have to touch it up.
“Oh, yeah, that’s cool. Do you need a ride?” Steve inquired, humming a song that had been stuck in his head all day. Family Video’s music had lost its charm, it consistently played mostly the same 100 tracks just repeated over and over. They both grew sick of it after the first week of working there, but they learned to get accustomed to it.
“Nope! I have one.” Robin said, glancing at the clock. 10 minutes till 5 pm.
Steve never considered Robin’s anxiety to be concerning, but the fact that she already had a ride was mildly worrying. For over a year, he’d grown used to picking her up every morning and driving her home every evening. It was their routine, and now all of a sudden she didn’t need his assistance? She was brushing him off without any explanation like it wasn’t their daily routine.
It was Friday evening. They had a small tradition of either going to each other's house or going to a theater to watch a movie every Friday night. Every week without fail, they never canceled on each other. Steve felt his stomach drop at this realization. If Robin was willing to push aside their movie night tradition, would she push him away too?
Meanwhile, Robin had been thinking about you all day. She hadn’t seen you for a couple of weeks since you went traveling outside of Hawkins. Robin never went anyway, mostly because she didn’t have a car, but also because she had all she needed right here. She had Steve, and you. Now that you were back, the anticipation of spending a night alone with you had her buzzing with excitement.
In her mind, she reasoned that Steve was more than capable of watching the movie on his own. Robin couldn’t pinpoint exactly why she wanted to keep your relationship with her a secret, especially from Steve. Part of her felt that if she didn’t tell anyone, you two could carve out your own life outside of stupid high school drama and small-town problems.
Unbeknownst to Robin, Steve couldn’t stand being shut out by his best friend. After a difficult childhood, Steve clung tightly to the few people in his life that he could trust. Though he knew it was wrong to assume anything, his heart shattered at the thought of losing the person closest to him.
Rationally speaking, Steve knew he wouldn’t be losing her. Robin was his best friend, and he knew he couldn’t keep her to himself. It was a selfish thought, believing that Robin would stay forever. Nothing lasts forever.
He clenched his jaw and nodded in acknowledgment.
Steve observed Robin’s body language. She watched the clock, fixing small details of her appearance. Then, it clicked.
Robin was meeting up with someone. But who?
Robin met you at the high school. Initially, Robin would have never even considered glancing your way. After all, you were a cheerleader. She was under the assumption that all cheerleaders at Hawkins High would be egotistical freaks, but you changed her preconceptions.
“Shit, I’m so sorry. Robin, are you okay?” You frantically helped up the fallen girl currently sitting on the sidewalk outside of the school. Lost in a swirl of your own thoughts, you had practically tackled Robin while running to make the bus home.
“It-uh it’s fine. Wait-you know my name?” Robin dusted herself off gingerly, glancing at the uniformed cheerleader before her. She was surprised that you even recognized her name, she usually never associated with a cheerleader or any other sporty student.
“Of course I do! We were partners in History class last year, remember? I like your hair; it suits you.” You exclaimed, running your hands in your own. Though Robin suspected you might be saying those words to make her feel better, she couldn't hide the subtle blush that crept upon her face.
Now, seven months later, you two were practically inseparable.
The shrill ring of the phone jolted Robin into action, prompting her to swiftly pick it up. She held the receiver up to her ear, a ridiculously wide smile adorning her features. “Family Video, what can I do for you today? Oh, yeah I can arrange that.” Robin responded, her voice playful. A soft giggle escaped her lips.
Steve’s features read confusion as he watched the phone call unfold. Robin notoriously hated taking calls, always struggling to get the right words out. Out of the two of them, Steve was the best at talking to customers over the phone. Why was she suddenly responding without a single stutter or mumble?
“Who was that?” Steve attempted to grab the phone before Robin hung up but to no avail.
“A customer, who else would it be?” Robin shot a quick glare at Steve, a tinge of rudeness in her tone. Steve was taken aback by her comment. It hurt him to know that Robin felt like she needed to hide things from him.
“Robin, you know you can trust me, right? You can tell me anything.” Steve looked down at her, his face full of worry for his friend.
“For God’s sake! That’s enough, Steve! Can you please just accept that there are certain things that I don’t need to tell you?!” With that, Steve shut up in disbelief.
Robin scoffed at the silence from her best friend, and she packed up her things. “My shift is over, I’ll see you tomorrow.” she declared, snatching her purse, throwing it over her shoulder, and exiting the store before Steve could even muster an apology.
Steve hadn’t intended for things to unravel like this. He was curious, but now that she was out the door after he pushed her too far, he felt horrible. As he packed up his stuff and turned off the lights in the video store, the sound of a car pulling up made him whip his head around.
To his surprise, a mysterious girl gestured for Robin to join her in the car, and before Steve could rush outside to apologize, Robin was already gone.
He groaned in frustration, guilt racking up on him as he closed up the store and headed to his car.
“God, I feel so guilty, Y/n. I totally hurt his feelings when I snapped at him like that!” She sighed and watched the town flash by as you drove her. You put your hand on hers, calming her anxious ranting.
You eventually arrived at a restaurant situated well outside of Hawkins. Robin had insisted that the two of you couldn't be seen together in their hometown. It wasn't because she was ashamed of you—quite the contrary. Robin was protecting you from the close-minded individuals who populated the small town. You took a seat with her, observing her slump in her seat.
It was eating her up inside.
“He’s just worried about you, he’ll be fine! Speaking of Steve, I’d like to meet him one day.” You smile at her and she shrugs. You were genuinely interested in getting to know Robin’s best friend, especially since she mentions him every time you talked to her.
“I really want you to, Y/n. I just don’t know if it would be smart to tell anyone!” Robin had her fair share of bullies in school, and she wanted to save you from that if she could help it. You were a cheerleader, there’d be no saving her reputation with all the potential homophobes at Hawkins High.
“Robin, we’ve talked about this! I don’t care about my status, I want you. I know you think that you’re protecting me but you don’t have to. I can handle myself, especially around your friend Steve. You make it sound like he’s going to want to fight me or something!” The two of you laughed. Robin watched you laugh loudly, your hand tightly wrapped around her’s under the table.
She smiled to herself. You always had a way with words. You were truly an expert at calming her fears and giving her hope that one day, this town wouldn’t care about who she loved.
“I love you, you know that?” The words fell out of Robin’s mouth so smoothly, something she never thought she’d ever be able to say to anyone.
You smiled fondly at her and nodded. “Of course I do. I love you too.”
Unbeknownst to either of you, a certain pair of eyes was watching from in his car. Steve had followed you, his emotions getting the best of him. He knew it was stupid to follow, but he wanted to see what Robin gave up a movie night for.
Steve carefully observed the two of you. He watched you both laugh at a joke you said, bouncing happy smiles off each other. He watched Robin show off her new haircut to you, watching the two of you talk with the biggest smiles and enthusiastic conversations.
He felt himself tear up, jealously over-taking his mind as he put the car in reverse and peeled out of the parking lot. The drive home was one of the longest rides of his life. For the first time in a while, he felt angry with Robin. As he gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white, he thought about what it all meant. Was he being replaced?
The next morning, Robin was late to work, scrambling in about 20 minutes late. Steve, however, had arrived early, wanting to busy his mind so he wouldn’t call Robin and confront her then.
“You’re late.” Steve retorted, raising an eyebrow when she scoffed.
“As if you haven’t been late, Harrington.” Robin snapped.
“Not as a manager though.” Steve shrugged, cringing a little when he saw Robin’s shocked face in response to his statement.
“What’s going on with y-”
“How was last night?” He leaned against the counter, a fake smile plastered across his face. “Have fun?”
“It was great, Steve. I caught up with-”
“You missed movie night.” Steve cleaned up the shelves, placing movies in their correct spot. He felt bad for being so rude to her, but if he didn’t get to the bottom of this he would never forget about it.
“Steve it was one night! I was busy!” Robin threw up her hands as she defended herself. She was right, Steve knew that. He wanted to confront her about her new friend, no matter what he had to say to her.
“No! You skipped movie night, you wouldn’t let me drive you home or to work, and you snapped at me when I was concerned about you! Tell me what’s going on!” Steve’s voice raised as he explained what Robin did. Perhaps he was blowing it all out of proportion. But if that’s what it took for Robin to confess that she was abandoning him, he’d do it.
“Steve you’re being fucking crazy right now.” She retorted, frustration in her voice. “I’m not dealing with this shit from you, can we just get back to work?” She shook her head and went to the back to avoid him to de-escalate the situation. However, Steve was not ready to give up on her.
“I’m crazy? Robin, you’ve been avoiding me!” Steve rolled his eyes when Robin scoffed.
“No! I’m-”
“You don’t have to keep fucking hiding it. You’re pulling away because you’ve found someone better. I don’t care, I really don’t. Just don’t pretend to be my fucking friend anymore, because I can’t take it.” Steve ranted, crossing his arms as he stood in front of her waiting for a bullshit response.
But it never came. Instead, she laughed at him.
Robin couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She assumed Steve was mad because she was skipping out on their daily activities. “You’re such a dumbass.” She laughed at Steve’s unamused expression. “You saw me last night, didn’t you?” Robin wasn’t mad that Steve had followed her to her date, but the whole situation made her laugh hysterically.
“Are you gonna keep laughing at me or are you gonna explain yourself?” Steve huffed, his face slightly red as he tried to lock away his anger.
“That was my girlfriend, dumbass. She came back from vacation and she wants to interview here.” Robin smirked when Steve’s jaw gaped.
“Ohhh! Why didn’t you tell me you were dating someone?!” He huffed in frustration. “Can I do the interview? I promise I won’t get personal.

I Wanna Be Yours || Part 8
Part 7 | part 9
↝a/n: I am sincerely apologetic for not updating this series in so long. I hope you still like it!
↝pairing: Robin Buckley x fem!Wheeler!reader
↝Warning: slightly proofread, cannon events
↝⎙ 2.16.24
Disclaimer: I do not own Robin Buckley, or any character from Stranger Things. I only own y/n (reader's character) and any characters I create with my own brain. If you have a problem with my work, send me a private message. Thank you.
“Oh shit.” Nancy parked the car.
So many people stood around, gawking, standing on their tiptoes to look over other people's heads and shoulders. All to see what was going on. Whatever was happening, the news trucks and cameras didn't help with privacy. They were broadcasting everything to the whole town.
“C'mon, this way.” Nancy walked behind the white and orange van, watching as the new sheriff, Powell, talked into the cameras that were right in his face, “reporting a homicide here on the lake. Officer Callahan here and myself arrived first on the scene. We made our way to the shore of Lover's Lake, about ten yards from the house you see behind me. Uh, it was there that we found the victim, an 18-year-old senior from Hawkins High, Patrick McKinney.”
You scoffed as Powell went on to show a picture of Eddie, the 'person of interest'.
“Oh, man.” Steve sighed, “This is not good. Really not good.”
Powell walked away, the crowd following with even more questions.
“Dustin? Can you hear me?” Eddie's voice crackled from the radio. “Wheeler?”
Dustin yanked the radio from his backpack, turning around for some privacy.
“Eddie. Holy shit. Are you okay?”
“Nah, man.” You could hear his voice muffled, probably from running his hand down his face or something. “Pretty-pretty goddamn far from okay.”
“Where is he?” Robin spoke up.
“Where are you?” Dustin echoed.
“Skull Rock. Do you know it?”
“Uh, yeah.” Dustin answered, unsure.
“New Corn Wallis and-” You began, furrowing your eyebrows. You hadn't been there in forever.
“Garrett, yeah. I know where that is.” Steve finished for you, making his way back to the car.
“Hold tight. We're coming.”
You hadn't gotten off the radio since you got in the car. You had all but yanked it from Dustin's grip and began talking about any and everything with Eddie. Maybe you were trying to lighten the mood, Robin didn't really know. Your mood had taken a total change.
You were cracking jokes and replaying memories to the guy on the other side of the radio.
You eventually stopped, still smiling at the one memory of Eddie nearly falling on his face your first day of high school. He had been trying to impress his friend but miscalculated his steps and fell right as you had walked by. It was a funny first encounter.
It was quiet for a moment.
“I'm going to go to prison, aren't I?” Your smile fell. How were you to tell him that you didn't know? Sure, you were going to do all that you could not to let that happen. But you can only do so much.
“No. No, I don't think so.”
“Y/n,” Eddie's voice trailed off, not entirely believing you.
“No, you're not going to prison because you haven't done anything wrong. Everyone else thinks you did because they don't know any better. They don't know what's actually going on. Can't really blame them, right? It's easier to blame a kid than something nonhuman.”
Eddie waited a moment to reply, digging his palm into his eye socket. “I guess you're right.”
“Of course I'm right.”
Steve and Dustin continued to bicker from their pace in front of you.
Robin walked beside you, Nancy on her other side.
Glancing back at Max and Lucas, Robin scoffed. “Oh, my god. They're so adorable. I just wanna squeeze 'em, you know?”
You nodded, glancing back, yourself.
Nancy stayed looking forward, brown paper bag in hand.
“If I'm permitted to see a silver lining in the end-of-the-world doom and gloom, it would be the rekindling of some old flames that, frankly, never should've been snuffed out.”
At the glare Nancy sent, you couldn't help chuckling, just listening as the two went back and forth.
“I didn't mean that as a hint or anything.”
“Right.” Nancy rolled her eyes.
“But,” Robin continued, “If I did mean it as a hint, would that be so terrible? To wish for happiness for my friends?”
This time, Nancy stopped in her tracks, scoffing as she turned to Robin. “You think I'm not happy?”
Robin fumbled over her words, “I-I'm sure you are. It's just, the other day in the library, I mentioned Jonathan and you sort of flinched or winced or something like-”
“I didn't flinch or wince.”
“Okay.”
“Jonathan and I are fine.”
“Got it.”
“We're good.”
“Right.”
“Guys.” They looked at you for the first time since they began talking. You pointed at Steve and Dustin, who were only getting further ahead. Nancy turned and began walking.
“It's just…” Nancy trailed off, going back to the Jonathan topic. “He was supposed to be there for the break, and then he backed out last minute for some vague, mumbly Jonathan reason. And, to be honest, I'm not that surprised because I've been feeling him pulling away lately. I don't know if it's because we're 2,000 miles away or if he's met someone new or what. Now I can't find out why because apparently, he's blown up his family's house phone or something.” She took a much-needed breath, before continuing. “So, yeah. If the mention of his name caused a slight muscle spasm on my face, that's probably why.”
“Seems like a perfectly reasonable reason to flinch, wince, or something.” Robin offered a small smile.
Nancy smiled back. “You said ‘the happiness of your friends’, so, does that make us friends? As in, officially?"
“Uh, yeah. I mean, right? Everyone here is my friend. Right, Y/n?”
“I guess.” Your nose playfully crinkled. Robin had always found that adorable. Especially when you were picking at her.
“Right.” Nancy looked between the two of you.
"Bada bing, bada boom. There she is, Henderson. Skull Rock. “In your face, man. In your stupid, cocky little face.” Steve bragged, taking in the beauty of the rock he was all too familiar with.
“Doesn't make sense.” Dustin mumbled, looking around, and at his compass.
“Yeah, yeah. Even with it staring you in the face, you can't admit it. Just can't admit you're wrong, you little butthead.”
You walked around the bushes, further ahead of the other 4. You saw Dustin and Steve just as Eddie jumped down. “I concur. You, Dustin Henderson, are a total butthead.”
“Jesus. We thought you were a goner.” You couldn't help but smile as you watched Dustin hug Eddie, who probably smelt rank.
“Yeah, me too, man. Me too.”
You were right about Eddie smelling. He held you under his arm, all his appreciation for you being expressed in the bear hug. You just wished your nose didn't work at that moment.
“When I got back to shore, I tried calling you guys, but, uh,” Eddie took a swig out of the canteen with his other hand. “My walkie was busted, man. Drenched. So, I did the thing that I do now, apparently. I ran.” He chuckled, no humor behind it at all.
“Do you know what time it was? The attack?” Nancy questioned.
“Yeah, no- I know exactly what time it was. My walkie wasn't the only thing that got soaked.” He threw his watch in her direction.
“9:27.”
“Same time our flashlights went kablooey.”
You looked at Robin confused. She mouthed 'I'll tell you later', you had yet to be let in on all that had happened when you were at the funeral. You just felt like they weren't letting you in on everything on purpose, not because they just forget.
“Which means what, exactly?” Steve asked.”
Apparently, you weren't the only one who was confused about all of this.
“That surge of energy was Vanca attacking Patrick.” Nancy threw the watch back.
“Well,” Robin tried, “We're one step closer. We know how Vecna attacks.”
“And where he attacks from.” Lucas adds.
“So, now we just need to sneak into his lair in the Upside Down and drive a stake through his heart.” Max states.
Robin scoffed, “If he even has a heart.” She glanced at you, thinking of how you and Max are currently on edge, scared if you'll even get the next second to live. The rest of the group were worried about Max, with her coming out and telling everyone everything that had happened. She saw you, saw how you didn't want to worry anyone. That's how you have always been.
“A stake? Is he a vam- is he a vampire?!” Steve looked around.
“It was a metaphor.”
“A bullet should work on him, right?” Eddie offered.
Lucas shrugged, “I say we chop his head off.”
“Colorful ideas.” You gawked at them. These are children ready to murder whatever is making your lives a living hell.
Nancy nodded at you, “I'd say all of the above, but we can't do any of that 'til we find a way into the Upside Down.”
“We need El to get her powers back.”
“Everything was way easier.” Steve turned to Eddie, “We had this girl. She had super-.”
“Superpowers. Yeah, you've mentioned her.”
You lost it, “Let's stop talking about El, alright? She's over 2,000 miles away with Mike and Will. They're having fun, and they can't help us here. So, just stop talking about her and her powers that made things so much easier.”
Everyone shut up, letting you breathe.
Eddie spoke up after a moment, “Hey, uh, Henderson's not cursed, is he?”
Dustin, who hadn't said a word since you had made it to the rock, was pacing, but stopped short and stared into the woods.
“Cursed? No, no. He's fine. Mental? Absolutely.”
“Boom!” Dustin's outburst had everyone jump out of their skin. “Bada, bada, boom.”
Steve was utterly confused, a little concerned about his friend.
“I was right.”
Steve's eyebrows dropped, a sigh rolling out of his mouth as he rolled his eyes. “Skull Rock was north.”
“Seriously? You're serious?” Steve couldn't understand why this kid couldn't just be wrong.
“Mhm!”
“This is Skull Rock! Okay?!”
“Mhm.” Dustin was as calm as can be, while Steve was beginning to get agitated.
“You're totally, absolutely, 100% wrong. Right now.”
“Yes-”
“What?!"
“And no.”
“Oh, my god.” Steve put his hands over his face, dragging down.
“This compass worked correctly when we left the Wheeler's. It was correct when we got in the car on Kerley. But it started to slip the further east we went. Now, it's way off. When I was leading us here, I wasn't wrong. The compass was.”
Steve threw his hands up. “So, you're using faulty equipment. You're still wrong.”
“Except it isn't faulty. Lucas, do you remember what can affect a compass?”
“An electromagnetic field.”
“Yep.”
“I'm sorry. I must've skipped that class.” Robin shook her head.
“In the presence of a stronger electromagnetic field, the needle will deflect towards that power. So, either there's some super big magnet around here or-”
“There's a gate.”

she teases you a lot simply just to see your reaction. her heart swells when you get all flustered and trip on your words. but she especially likes it when she slips her hands around your waist from behind. her hands trailing over your skin that's covered by her shirt.
her hands travel down to your hips which are clad in nothing but underwear. she'll dip the tips of her fingers beneath the fabric while her lips ghost over your neck, leaving marks in their wake.

can you do more dick + sea? 🌊 please
You watched on as Dick, Wally, Roy and Donna played volleyball on the sand, the sun on its way down on the background of it all painting the perfect end to a perfect day. Those days were rare and few between all the chaos and confusion that was teenage crime fighting, but their rarity made for some of the best days you had experienced beside the team.
“Hey, Yn!” Dick called, breaking you out of your current daydream. “We’re all going for one last swim, are you coming?”
“Erm, I’m fine.” You lied, playing nervously with the strings on your bikini. “I’ll just watch you guys.”
Noticing your fidgeting and knowing you as well as he did, he turned his back to the sea and headed in your way. “Is this about your fear of water?” he asked, crouching down in front of you, standing on your eye level and so fucking close, making sure his face was all you could see.
You tried to hide it, lowering your eyes to your crossed legs, playing with the anklet Dick had tied around your ankles earlier that day, an identical one adorning his own. You were scared of the sea since you could remember, it’s vastness, it’s mysteries frightening you even with Aqualad telling you repeatedly it was all fine, there was nothing to worry about.
Lifting your chin so your eyes could meet again, Dick held your face up, thumb caressing your cheek as he tried one more time. “Please, Yn.” His soft eyes, capable of melting you entirely, boring deep into your own and leaving your mind slightly numb. “It won’t be fun without you.”
And like a puppy, his head bobbed to the side, making it a thousand times harder to say no. “D, I c-can’t…”
“I promise to keep you safe.” he begged, a large smile spreading on his face causing you to be unable to hold your own. “I’ll hold you tight. Please, please, pleeeease.”
“Alright!” you gave in, laughing at his incessant nagging. “Promise?”
And putting his pinky finger in front of you, waiting till yours tangled around it, he said: “Promise. With my own life.”
Getting into the water wasn’t easy, but he held your hand till you arrived where everyone else was. And as promised, once you were all settled, feet hooked on the sand in a desperate attempt to hold yourself together, you felt his arms coming beside you and hugging your lower waist, chin resting on your shoulders as the group joked, sang and had fun all the way till the sun was almost gone from the horizon.
“See,” Dick whispered in your ear, taking your attention away from whatever the hell Wally was going on about. “The sea is not as deadly as it looks.”
Leaving a kiss on your exposed shoulder, you tried not to give away the shivers running down your body, praying the strong winds were an excuse enough for him not to grow suspicious.
“I guess it's fine.” He laughed at your defensiveness, placing another kiss on the same spot before you felt his wet hair hit the skin on your cheek, head resting there till everyone found it was time to go back home.
He intertwined your fingers together, leading you out, the group going further ahead of you two. “Hey, Yn?” he called again.
You only hummed in response. “There was something… I’ve been wanting to do it all day, you know.” He continued, shyly looking away from you.
“What is it?” you questioned, innocently aware of him cracking his knuckles nervously.
Stopping suddenly, he turned back to you and you finally could see the nervousness in his eyes. “Promise me you won’t be mad at me?”
“Why would I be mad at you?” you questioned again, not understanding where it was all going.
“Because what I’m about to do can change… well everything.”
“For good or for bad?”
“That’s up to you to decide.”
As he desperately tried to avoid your eyes, you somehow managed to trap them on yours. His growing pink cheeks a mix of sunkissed and shyness. His shoulders, that grew larger by the days, matching the redness on his face, an evidence of the day spent under the strong summer sun
“Do it.” you whispered, ignoring the audience forming on the shore.
And leaning in, so slow you could’ve sworn he must have stopped the time, Dick’s lips met yours for a salty, yet so sweet, kiss. His hands holding your neck as yours rushed to his sides, pulling him closer, a hunger for his warmth you didn’t know you were holding in.
“Fucking finally!” you heard Wally scream, as whistles and laughter flooded your ear. You planted your face in Dick’s chest, hiding away, or at least trying to, from your little audience, as his arms wrapped tightly around you.
“Just ignore them,” he said. “Just focus on me.”

The way we are - Robin Buckley x gn reader (fluff)
Summary: You and Robin haven't been dating for a long time, but Robin knows that you are the more experienced one. Doubts are starting to form in her head and you are there to reassure her. Warnings: gender neutral reader, Robin being a bit insecure, lots of reassurance from reader, reader talking about a past dating mishap, just some cute fluff for our favorite lesbian, english is not my first language Wordcount: 1.1k A/n: Thank you for my bestie with coming up with the title. I really just wanted to write something for Robin after the Eddie fanfic and I hope I did her justice.
Comments, likes and reblogs are always appreciated and really motivate me to write more <3
The soft glow of warm, ambient lighting filled the room, casting a cozy atmosphere that enveloped you and Robin in the comfort of each other's presence. The two of you sat on the couch in Robin's living room, a comforting silence hanging in the air as you sipped on mugs of hot cocoa. But before the tranquility settled in, there was a moment of vulnerability that had ignited Robin's nerves. It was a few days ago when she had overheard a conversation at the local cafe, a conversation that had left her feeling uncertain and anxious. It wasn't even about her, but still, it hit too close to home for her to shake off her doubts. Her inexperience in relationships paired with her general anxiety is something that she knows makes her harder to deal with, but hearing someone talk about how inexperienced people in a relationship are hard to deal with, she questioned if you thought the same way. That is how we ended here, Robin fidgeting with the mug in her hand, her gaze momentarily fixed on the swirling steam rising from the drink. She took a deep breath and finally looked up at you, her eyes filled with a mixture of nervousness and fondness.
"So, um, about us" Robin began, her voice soft yet uncertain. She took a moment to gather her thoughts, her gaze shifting between her mug and your eyes. "I've never really been good at this relationship stuff. It's all so new to me." You offered her a reassuring smile, reaching out to take her free hand in yours before gently interlocking your fingers with hers. It wasn't uncommon for her to get nervous, it often happened when she started rambling about something, but you are always there to reassure her. "Hey, remember we're both in this together."
A small chuckle escaped Robin as she shook her head, a mixture of nervousness and amusement playing on her lips. "Yeah, I guess. But, like, what if I mess things up? What if I say something wrong or do something dumb?"
Your thumb gently stroked her knuckles, a soothing gesture meant to ease her anxiety. Leaning a bit closer, you tilted your head, meeting her eyes with sincerity. "Robin, look, no one's perfect. Relationships are a mix of awkward moments and amazing ones. And honestly, I think those awkward bits are something that makes a relationship even more fun."
Robin's gaze softened as she looked at your intertwined fingers, her lips curled into a half-smile. "You mean, it's okay to be a bit of a mess sometimes?"
"Absolutely" you replied with a nod. "In fact, I think those messy moments can help us learn more about each other. And the fact that we can share those moments together is what makes us grow even closer."
She nodded, her eyes meeting yours with a newfound sense of ease. She let out a small sigh, her shoulders relaxing as the weight of her doubts seemed to lighten. "You always know how to put things into perspective" She gave another slow exhale. "You've always been good at this. Opening up, being real…"
You grinned playfully. "Well, one of us has to, right? Besides, I've had my fair share of relationship missteps too, it's all part of the journey." Robin's eyes twinkled with a mix of curiosity and amusement. "Oh, really? Do tell."
You chuckled, recalling some of your own awkward moments from the past. "Maybe we should keep my relationship mishaps for another time."
A grin spread across Robin's face as she leaned in closer "Come on you can't reassure me with this and not tell me something." You looked at her and a smile spread across your face before you gave in. "Okay, okay, one time while on a date, I was squeezing some lemon into my glass, and some of it got into the eye of my date. Let me tell you, that wasn't a fun situation, they were practically screaming and everything."
She burst into laughter, the sound filling the room with warmth. "No way! Seriously?"
"Dead serious" you confirmed with a laugh of your own. "See? We all have our moments. And trust me, I think you're doing just fine." Her gaze softened, and she took a sip of her cocoa, her expression thoughtful. "You make it sound so simple."
"It's not always simple, but it doesn't have to be complicated either" you reassured her. "We're in this together, navigating the ups and downs, learning from our slip-ups, and cherishing the moments that make us smile."
Robin's gaze met yours, a hint of gratitude shining in her eyes. "You know, you're pretty amazing at this whole reassurance thing." You winked at her playfully. "Well, I've had some practice. And you, my dear Robin, are worth every bit of it."
Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink, a shy smile tugging at her lips. "I'm lucky to have you."
"The feeling's mutual" you admitted with a sincere nod. "And remember, you're not alone in this. We're a team, facing whatever comes our way together. Like we always have."
With a renewed sense of comfort, Robin leaned a bit closer, her head gently resting against your shoulder. "I'm glad you're on my team." You wrapped your arm around her, a contented smile forming on your lips.
Robin's cheeks flushed with a mixture of emotions, her gaze now more intent on yours. "I wouldn't want to be on anyone else's team." Your words were barely above a whisper, trying to eradicate all her doubts.
As your words hung in the air, a spark of courage ignited in both of you. The weight of your feelings seemed to fill the room, and then, with a shared glance, you leaned forward touching your forehead with hers.
"I love you, Robin." you whispered, the words carrying the weight of your emotions.
Tears shimmered in Robin's eyes, a mixture of surprise and overwhelming joy. She took a deep breath, her voice shaky but sincere. "I love you too, more than you can imagine."
There was some hesitancy, but you both slowly closed the short distance between you, your hand finding a place on her thigh, and then your lips finally touched. The kiss was soft, your lips moving against each other, inexperienced but so eager for each other. When you finally parted a big smile was on both of your faces your hands holding onto each other.
Thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoyed

Hello, I just wanted to say that I loved what you wrote about Dick Grayson, I hope you continue to write more about him, I love him so much.
CALLER ID d.grayson

☆ WORD COUNT - 3K

DICK GRAYSON X FEM!READER
☆ SUMMARY - when dick was on patrol, he got an unexpected message from you. however, no matter how hard you try to brush him off, your boyfriend always seems to know when there's a problem and what to do about it.
☆ WARNINGS - mentions of violence, jason's attitude problem, crying, reader has insomnia, petnames, use of 'good girl' (non-sexual), intended lower case, nothing i write is ever proofread 🩷

patrol was so slow tonight.
it was times like these where dick dazed off at something he couldn't quite make out, a far away building or even something in the sky. his thoughts drifted to you, his sweet girlfriend that had barely whined when he removed her arms from around him, stating that he just had to get to patrol. however, as soon as he was heading out the door, suited up, you'd rolled over and fell back to sleep.
dick loved everything about you, from your sweet personality down to the way you look in his shirts. and boy, did it take him a lot to be able to leave you alone when you looked so pretty in one of his white shirts.
he hadn't even realised that he'd been swinging his escrima sticks around, literally yawning while waiting for someone or something to come out. he was only itching for a fight. "chill out." came from the snappy jason who was leaning against the wall, a literal book in his hands. "you're gonna take someone's fuckin' eye out with that thing."
"are you reading, little wing?" a smirk quirked on his face even from behind the mask. he couldn't help but find it amusing that while waiting for someone to come along to bash their head into the concrete ground, jason had stopped for a little reading time.
but jason seemed in no mood for any games. "fuck off." it was apparent that he didn't want to be here from the start, grumpy as ever and losing enough sleep as it was but sheesh. dick had to roll his eyes, wondering if his brother should just get a lobotomy or something. he wondered if jason would be happier, less snippy. he wondered if jason would stare at him like a dead corpse walking, though he had to question was that better than the stinking attitude that he used now.
the sound of a ding! from his phone caused him to pull it out.
little love do you know what time you'll be home? read, just now.
dick glanced to the time on his phone, it read three thirty. one problem, you had work at six.
dickie!! i'm not sure darling everything okay? read, just now.
with nervousness seeping into his veins, he watched as your text message bubbles appeared, disappeared, appeared again, disappeared again and finally appeared again.
little love im okay be safe, love you read, just now.
but for dick, that simply wasn't enough.
he glanced to jason who didn't so much as look up from the cream coloured pages.
then, dick glanced out to the open streets of gotham, filled with... nothingness. it was one of those nights where nothing happened and they sat positioned on the rooftop of the tallest building in all of gotham. i mean, nothing had happened all night so surely, jason would be fine on his own, right?
before thinking, dick's fingers were pressing against the screen, typing up your contact and then pressing the phone to his ear. this caught jason's attention however dick merely walked further away so that he wouldn't be able to hear their conversation. although, he didn't seem too interested, rolling his eyes, presumedly of the fact that he was merely jealous that grayson had love and he was stuck reading a romance book, then looking back down at the pages and flicking one over.
it wasn't until the fourth ring that he heard the echo from your side. "hey, baby." he muttered tiredly, just knowing you were there was a kind of relief.
"hi." he heard your voice through the phone but you didn't seem as chirpy as normal. if anything, there was a slight sniffle to your tone, as though you'd been crying.
it didn't take a vigilante to figure that much out. he assumed that was why you'd taken so long to answer, trying to stop yourself from sounding all sniffly. but even if you had, dick still knew you better than anyone else in gotham. "it's late." he spoke, kicking a pebble against the ground. "why're you up?"
then he heard it, those dreadful two words that had you tearing up at the mere thought of it. "can't sleep." and dick knew that it wasn't just the type of 'can't sleep' due to the fact that you were on your phone or too engrossed in a book or tv show. it was the type that screamed at him right in the face.
your insomnia.
dick had found out about your insomnia before you were even officially together. he remembered seeing you all down so much, eyes half lidded as you stared at the glass of water in front of you, looking at it as though it were a science experiment. at first, when you walked in looking like that he assumed it was because you were upset about something. and dick being the respectful gentleman that he was, he chose not to ask about it as he didn't see it fit to be his place. however, when you came rubbing your temple, placing your head on the table he soon realised it was much more than that.
the insomnia you suffered with was enough to bring you to tears, as it was now.
"oh, baby." his tone turned soft, ready to comfort. "have you tried the weighted blanket, hm?" that always seemed to help when he wasn't there to wrap you up.
unfortunately, you only made a displeased sound. "mmh, too warm." where dick was standing, the heavy breeze on his shoulders, he wished it was he that was too warm rather than the cold that enveloped him now.
either way, he still pitied you, cooing softly. "i'll be right there." he spoke through the phone but before you could protest, he was speaking again. "I love you."
he couldn't see you, but he could imagine the soft look coming over your features. "I love you too but―"
"see you soon, m'love."
and you were cut off.
he turned to jason who was still with his back against the wall, stupid book in his hands. "the missus alright?" he spoke boredly, still flicking the page as though he had no actual interest in dick's love life.
but dick knew better than that. as disinterested as he may have liked to look, dick knew he secretly liked you, and that was a fact. jason never liked the girls dick dated, never liked much to do with dick but you, he knew you were good for him. "yes but i have a favour." and by the time he was looking up from the book, dick was already giving him them big begging eyes.
he rolled his eyes, turning over the corner of the page. many believe that turning the corners is destroying them, jason would have to beg to differ, it was loving them. "what is it?"
"patrol is slow tonight."
"it is."
"do me this one favour, little wing, please?"
"say it."
"you really like destroying my pride, don't you?"
"It's a little entertaining, yes."
and so that was how the man had rid himself of the nightly patrol. dick didn't like asking for favours nor did he do it often. perhaps that was why jason had let him off so easily this time. or perhaps it was because he knew that dick would soon owe him the same favour in response.
whatever the case, dick still found himself jogging down the street, your guys’ shared home on wide display. he couldn’t help but smile at the mere sight of it. thinking about it just made his heart swell, you and him, in your very own home. dick didn’t particularly believe in fairytales but if he did, this was sure to be one of them.
he pushed open the front door, taking in the silence that hung heavy in the house but the various lights that you’d left on, a god awful habit. usually, he’d great you with that funny, playful “honey, i’m home!” holding his jacket and bag out, waiting for you to come running into his arms, wrapping your legs around him and holding onto him as though you would never let him go on patrol again.
sometimes, he wished he could give you that.
it was no surprise that you were innocent to the world. you hadn’t seen nor faced the dangers he had, you hadn’t looked death in the eye like him. and for that, he was glad. your soul was too pretty to get scarred.
instead of the usual playfulness, he merely mulled his bag over towards the living room door, deciding to leave it there until morning. It was filled with his nightwing costume along with his weapons and so on. but dick didn’t believe in carrying that around you. more often than not, he’d leave it somewhere along the door so that he could hide it in the back of his wardrobe when you were busy.
of course, you knew he was nightwing but that didn’t mean he wanted to toss around that danger around you.
he shuffled the shoes off of his feet, now clad in a grey hoodie along with a black sweatpants. the person he was when he wasn’t dressing as a bird.
he was careful not to make too much noise along the stairs to scare you but enough that you could hear he was home, so you were prepared to face him. “baby?” he called out after making the stairs creak, just so you didn’t fear it was someone else out there and not your beloved boyfriend.
instead of a response, he heard a sniffle coming from the bedroom.
peeling the door open, he stuck his head inside, fluffy black hair peeking in to see you sat atop the bed, grey sheets surrounding you as you sniffled, pathetically. but it didn’t make dick judgemental, when had dick ever been judgemental towards you? instead, his features turned soft.
“hey, hey.” barely in the door and he was already soothing you, though would he really have it any other way? “wh’s the matter?” though he already knew the matter, however that didn’t stop him from sitting himself on the bed, allowing you to wrap your legs around him, sitting atop his lap.
the temperature of the house and the hot skin of your legs was enough to tell him why you’d been so warm.
instead of responding, you sniffled and cried like the crybaby you were. but that was okay, dick didn’t mind having you as his personal crybaby as long as it was he who was wiping away your tears.
his nose nudged your cheek, attempting to see your face but you only shoved it further into the crook of his neck, not truthfully wanting to face him though how badly you ached for his comfort. “c’mon, lemme see my pretty girl, hm? wanna see your pretty face.”
the way his hands felt against your waist and your thighs, soothing the plush skin as if trying to coax you to look at him. and it worked, the tenderness that he used and the way everything seemed so… possible. you finally managed to pull your tear-stained face from the crook of his neck, looking at him with that pretty pout of yours.
and didn’t his heart just melt?
even when you were full of tears with a large pout implanted on your mouth, you were still the prettiest girl he’d ever seen. his thumbs were already making a move to soothe your under eyes, wiping away your pretty tears, like diamonds down your cheeks. “there she is, atta girl.” the way he praised you was enough to have your cheeks turning pink, even in your state.
dick always knew how to fix every problem.
he was like bob the builder only he was repairing your damaged feelings and little broken heart.
but as much as dick loved taking care of you, his heart did break a little at your tears. your cheeks were passed stained, tears collecting in your under eyes and trickling down your cheeks, softly yet the sniffles still emitted from you. you were his girl, he’d do just about anything to please you and truthfully, seeing you hurt… hurt.
“tell me what i can do.” he whispered against the warm air of the room. he wanted to fix this, he wanted to make sure you slept well but most importantly, he wanted to make sure you didn’t have to cry like this again. “did you take the melatonin?” you nodded your head. “will i make you some tea? run you a bath?”
you’d been to hundreds of sleep specialists, doctors, so on.
everyone always gave you in around the same ideas. they’d tell you to work out before you went to bed but that was the thing they didn’t understand, it wasn’t because you weren’t physically tired that you couldn’t sleep, you were exhausted. yet it was your mind that couldn’t seem to rest. they’d tell you drink some camomile tea and you’d be on the mend, that was seven years ago.
you sniffled, looking at the one thing that had ever made it easy for you to sleep.
him.
“jus’ want you.” you mumbled out, thinking you sounded rather selfish. I mean, would anyone disagree? it was unlikely. you’d pulled your boyfriend out of patrol in the middle of the night just so he could help you sleep. you felt downright awful.
but dick? no, his heart was only melting right in front of you, as though you’d just told him that you were adopting a bunny and naming it after him (that’d given you an idea for later). “I’m right here, honey.” he pulled you back towards him again, his hands rubbing up and down your back ever so gently, enough to have you turning to putty at the feeling of his finger tips.
you sniffled, eventually pulling away and using your arm to wipe your face. “what time is it?” you questioned, now realising that you hadn’t so much as glanced towards a clock in… you weren’t sure how long, you kind of needed a clock to tell those kinds of things.
his fingers were gently tracing across the softness of your cheek, brushing the loose strands of your hair behind your ear, like they did in those romantic movies. “‘s almost four, m’love.”
you practically whined at that. “i have work soon.” in approximately two hours. you contemplated not sleeping at all. but you knew that whenever you did that, you surely regretted it sooner rather than later and you’d be taking naps anywhere, through paperwork and in one of those little uncomfortable office chairs.
dick wouldn’t have it. “you’re not going.” he stated briskly to which your brows furrowed. “angel, i’m not leaving you leave the house like this, alright? we both know i make more than enough to support us both until our old age and i know you want to work, that’s okay, but i’m not going to have you breaking your back for minimum wage, got it?”
slowly, you nodded your head with your teeth wrapping over your bottom lip. “got it.” you mumbled, all flustered.
dick couldn’t help but grin. “good girl.” he then tapped the inside of your thigh. “come on, into bed.”
and how could you refuse when he spoke to you in that tone that told you whatever he said, goes. whether he was telling you to get outside right now and fly a kite or suggesting bungee jumping in the morning, what did it matter?
you nodded your head before climbing into the dark grey sheets. you and dick took turns picking the sheets. on his weeks, he’d choose those grey, dark coloured sheets, sometimes black, rarely blues. you always went with pale pink ones or those pretty white ones with little flowers, hearts or so on engraved in it.
you were sure that any pattern on white made your heart just swell.
dick climbed into the bed after you, switching off the lamp light on his way and laying across the comfortable mattress. he helped you move so that your head was positioned on his chest, listening to his lulling breaths and heartbeats, slowly rising and falling as your head moved along with it.
“I dragged you out of patrol.” you mumbled into the dark only moments after the light had been switched off.
dick brushed you off, though he knew that the worry could eat you from the inside and out, like a worm with an apple, rotting it the entire way through, never knowing when to stop. he never blamed you, of course, but sometimes he did curse that beautiful, intricate mind of yours, hoping one day it would decide to treat you a little better. “it was a slow night.”
you could invision jason all alone, though when you tried to imagine it all you could think of was him either flirting or doing some kind of a ‘dirty talk’ with the enemy, unintentionally of course. everything he said had sort of a flirty tone to it, even with a blood covered face and uttering a death threat, perhaps it was because he’d still somehow manage to slip a petname in. “i’m sor―”
but before you could get the sentence out, his arms were wrapping around your own. “shh, shh.” mumbling as he shook you gently, as though you were a baby. “don’t apologise, princess.”
you found yourself sighing, snuggling yourself into him as your eyes began to droop, feeling awful heavy, with a yawn, your mouth parted. “you know, i’ve been to so many doctors…” your voice extra low as he could tell the tiredness was taking over your feeble body. “‘n they give me the… worst ideas ever. one of them even told me i should get a treadmill and put it in my room.” he huffed out an airy chuckle. “think i finally found the medicine.”
his brows furrowed. if you’d had a medicine, how come you weren’t taking it? how come you still lay awake at night when he wasn’t there? “what’s that?”
poor, oblivious, stupid dick.
“you.”

One piece + music taste
☆.。.:* random headcanons
☆.。.:*what i think OP characters would listen to if they lived in our era
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Ace: I’m sure he would be an avid listener of Playboi Carti and Yeat 🤷🏻♀️ he would absolutely go feral if those rappers are played at a party on the ship or on an island. It helps with his inner anger 💀🏃🏻♀️
Sanji: Giveon when he’s feeling romantic or is making meals, a little ambiance yk. The Weeknd when he’s horny.
Luffy: He’s honestly the type to say he likes everything as long as it has some souls and energizes him. Sucker for old bops, it makes him nostalgic.
Nami: OHHH SHES A RIHANNA, TINASHE, NICKI FANNN. She screams on top of her lungs to Rihanna’s song « pour up », she’s all about her bag 🤷🏻♀️ and she’s a baddie.
Robin: she’s a jazz enthusiast, but she also loves Latin songs & rnb, it makes her feel relaxed and is the perfect ambiance for when she reads books
Zoro would either be the type to not very listen to music that much, because it distract him and he hates having to keep updates on music. So, he listens to the same 10 songs every time & vibe to songs played at parties after few glasses of alcohol. He hates slow-sad-songs…
