«Happy birthday Professor Snape!»
Was terribly busy so couldn’t draw this on time 😭😭😭 But better late than never…
The four couldn’t decide which colours to use, so they just mixed all ideas. They also wanted to make a BLACK cake, but Hermione said that would be too dark, even for Snape. Boys had to agree.
Maybe professor would be kinder now? Well, they hope so!

Yk I never see any fics where the reader is Snape's kid, could you do a George x Reader where she's Snape's daughter?
Well, now you will have one fic about that. I hope you like! ~ ♡
Love and Mischief 。*・゚゚
Summary: Y/N Snape is a proud Gryffindor, much to her father’s disappointment, and she’s been dating George Weasley in secret.
george weasley x f!Gryffindor reader
Hogwarts had always been home to you, but it was a complicated one.
Most students had parents who sent them letters of encouragement or care packages filled with sweets.
You had Severus Snape.
A father who barely acknowledged you in public. A father who scowled every time he saw you wearing your Gryffindor scarf. A father who still couldn’t comprehend how his own daughter had ended up in the enemy house.
And, to make matters worse, you were dating George Weasley.
Not just dating—in love with him.
It had started in your fifth year, a slow, teasing friendship that turned into something more. George had a way of making the castle feel a little less suffocating, a little more like home.
The only problem?
Your father would absolutely murder him if he found out.
"You know," George whispered, his lips brushing against your ear as he pulled you into a hidden alcove. "For someone whose dad is a master of deception, you’re absolutely rubbish at sneaking around."
You smacked his chest lightly. "Excuse me, I’m very sneaky."
"Love, you tripped over a suit of armor twice last week."
You groaned. "That was one time—"
"Twice," he corrected, grinning. "And you practically shouted my name when I kissed you behind the library."
You blushed. "That’s your fault for being good at it."
George waggled his eyebrows. "Can’t argue with that."
Before you could respond, the sound of footsteps made both of you freeze.
Your heart dropped as a familiar voice rang through the corridor.
"Miss Snape. Out after curfew. How very disappointing."
You turned slowly, your stomach twisting as you met the dark, piercing eyes of your father.
George, to his credit, remained perfectly still, though you could feel the tension in his body.
Professor Snape’s gaze flickered between the two of you, and your heart pounded.
Please don’t let him put the pieces together.
Please don’t—
"Ten points from Gryffindor. Each," Snape said smoothly, his tone unreadable. "Go back to your dormitories. Now."
You let out a quiet breath of relief and grabbed George’s arm, practically dragging him away before your father could change his mind.
But as you walked away, you felt the weight of Snape’s stare burning into your back.
This wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
It turned out that your father didn’t need to put the pieces together.
Because Fred, bless his heart, was an idiot.
"I don’t see what the big deal is," he said over breakfast. "Snape’s bound to find out sooner or later. Might as well just tell him and get it over with."
George snorted. "Yeah, mate, and while we’re at it, why don’t we just hand in our next prank to Filch and save him the trouble?"
"Wait—" Ron, who had been shoveling eggs into his mouth, suddenly looked up. "Snape doesn’t know? I thought he did."
Hermione huffed. "Obviously not, Ronald, or we wouldn’t be having this conversation."
Ron grimaced. "Yikes. That’s gonna be bad when he finds out."
The when turned out to be immediately.
Because the moment Ron spoke, the entire Gryffindor table went quiet.
And that’s when you realized why.
Your father was standing right behind you.
You swore the entire Great Hall held its breath.
Slowly, you turned to face him.
"Professor," you said weakly.
"My office. Now," Snape said, his voice dangerously low.
And with that, he turned on his heel and stalked out of the hall.
You barely had time to glare at Fred before scrambling after him.
The moment you stepped into Snape’s office, the door slammed shut behind you.
"George Weasley?" he spat, as if the name itself was offensive.
You crossed your arms. "Yes."
His expression darkened. "Of all the students in this school, you chose him?"
"I didn’t choose anything," you shot back. "It just happened."
Snape exhaled sharply through his nose. "He is a menace. A troublemaker. A Weasley."
You bristled. "And he’s also kind, and funny, and smart, and—and I love him."
Your father flinched, as if the words physically hurt him.
"You don’t understand," he said quietly.
"Then make me understand," you challenged.
Snape studied you for a long moment. Then, finally, he sat down, his expression unreadable.
"When I was your age, I… cared deeply for someone," he admitted. "And I lost her."
Your breath hitched. He didn’t have to say her name. You knew exactly who he was talking about.
"Losing someone you love is—" His voice faltered for the briefest moment. "—unbearable."
Your anger softened. "Dad… I know you’re trying to protect me. But George isn’t like that. He’s not going to hurt me."
Snape’s jaw tightened. "I do not trust him."
"You don’t have to trust him," you said. "But you can trust me."
Silence stretched between you.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Snape sighed. "I cannot forbid you from seeing him," he muttered. "But I will be watching."
You grinned. "Wouldn’t expect anything less."
He rolled his eyes. "Get out of my office before I change my mind."
"Well?" George asked as you stormed into the Gryffindor common room. "Are you still alive, or should I start planning my funeral?"
You smirked. "Oh, he still hates you."
George sighed dramatically. "Tragic."
"But," you added, stepping closer, "he’s letting me stay with you."
A slow grin spread across George’s face. "So you’re saying I won?"
You rolled your eyes. "Let’s call it a draw."
He laughed, wrapping his arms around you. "Fine by me, love."
And as you leaned into him, safe and warm in his embrace, you knew one thing for certain:
No matter what your father thought, George Weasley was worth it.

I Was Bullied Too, So Why Didn’t I Turn Out Like Severus Snape?
I came across an anti-Snape post where someone shared their experience of being bullied in school. They said that even though they were bullied, they were able to overcome it, which is why they admired James Potter—because he changed and stopped being a bully. However, they hate Snape for not being able to move on from his past.
Everyone has the right to hate or love the characters based on their taste but What bothers me is how people often compare their own trauma to others' and disregard the genetic and environmental differences that shape us as individuals. I’ve decided to write a long post comparing my own life with Snape’s—two people who were both bullied as children. it was difficult for me to write this post, but I hope this comparison shows that not everyone who experiences bullying ends up the same. The variances in our upbringing and support systems play a crucial role in shaping who we become.
When I was seven years old, I was mocked and humiliated by a group of older girls on the school bus (they were eleven at the time). They made it clear that they bullied me because I was smaller and weaker than them. They treated me in a way that made me believe I deserved their bullying. I thought a weak and ugly girl like me was deserving of all their humiliation. They would mess up my hair, pull it, and ridicule me for having messy and ugly hair. Whenever I cried, they laughed. They didn't even let me be friends with other girls. To torment me further, they would point at me, whisper to each other, and giggle, making me feel even more isolated. I had allergies and a runny nose, and they wouldn’t let me wipe it, which they used as another reason to belittle me, saying I was disgusting. Even if there was an empty seat, they wouldn’t let me sit with them because I was "gross." I was terrified of them, hated school because of them, and cried every morning, begging not to go to school.
But why didn’t I turn out like Severus Snape?
1- I grew up like a normal child in every other aspect of my life. I was cared for and valued. I always had birthday parties with cake and gifts. I was praised when I got good grades. I had friends outside of school to play with, went on family vacations, and had fun times. From childhood to adulthood, I’ve had a safe home, enough sleep, good food, and a loving family.
2- I had parents who loved and cared about me. When my mother found out about the bullying, she went to the school and demanded they stop it. My parents also enrolled me in a private school to protect me from further bullying. When I started having nightmares and trouble sleeping, they took me to a child therapist.
3- My grandparents adored me. I would stay at their house when my parents were at work, and they made my childhood even more joyful. I always had safe arms to run to. Plus, my aunts and uncles cared for me and regularly took me to parks and other fun places, showering me with gifts and making sure I enjoyed my time.
4- My family had a respectable place in society, and I was never shamed or humiliated because of my family's circumstances. My father cared for me, my sister, and my mother, and he worked hard to provide for our needs. He respected my mother, and I never witnessed any abuse from him toward her.
5- My family had a stable income, and I always had new, appropriate clothes to wear. I never had to worry about poverty, hunger, or wearing hand-me-downs that would make me feel inferior to my peers.
6- My bullies mocked me, but they never caused me serious physical harm. I never feared for my life or sexual assault at school. The bullying was short-lived, lasting less than two years, and by the time I was a teenager, it had completely stopped. As I grew older, I made plenty of good friends and was popular among them. I have many fond memories from high school with my friends.
7- As a teenager, I didn’t worry about my future. My concerns were not about surviving a war, avoiding humiliation, or escaping poverty. I was free to plan my life, knowing I would go to university and study what I loved. Whenever I needed help, I knew I could count on my family—they were always there to support me.
8- I’m a psychology student, and studying this field has completely shifted my perspective on myself and others. It has allowed me to see the world with greater depth and empathy. I’ve become better at recognizing not only my own psychological wounds but also those of others, which has helped me connect with people on a deeper level. I've also sought therapy, both in-person and online, and have seen positive results. While I still struggle with some issues from my past—like feeling insecure about my appearance, doubting people’s motives, and having a hard time trusting—I’ve learned how to manage these feelings fairly well.
All of these factors combined have shaped me into someone different from Severus Snape. Yes, I was bullied, but I didn’t turn out like him because, unlike Snape, I was given numerous opportunities to grow, to experience love and joy, to heal, and to find pleasure in life.
Now, It’s much easier for someone like me to be kind and nice to others, to love people, to forgive myself and others, and to move on from those who don’t like me. It’s easier for me to see the world and people not as threats but with a more mature and balanced perspective. but I’m under no illusion that I am a better and more worthy person than Severus Snape or anyone like him who didn’t have the chance to heal. I simply know that I’ve been luckier, and for that, I’m grateful. But I never want to dismiss or belittle the suffering of others or blame them for their psychological struggles.
I can’t say for certain what I would’ve done in Snape’s exact situation or how bitter I might’ve become. But I’m certain of one thing: I could never be as brave or as selfless as Snape was, sacrificing his own life so readily for others. I know that I could never be a hero like him.

Why do people find it great to compare Severus and James? My honest reaction.
because he is just a strict teacher. you're placing a classist, entitled, rich brat with a group of 4 ganging up on 1 student for being a poor Slytherin, on the same scale as a man who DID NOT want to teach and hated Hogwarts for all it's bad memories.
You have compare equally. Snape is a bad teacher? alright. Can't complain there. ⭐Excuse 2: He bullied kids + ⭐Excuse 3: He was Neville's greatest fear.
Now, originally I think the whole teachers thing was meant as a form of comedy. No real insight. But since fans, snaters want to nitpick. So will I then. Three students suffered under Snape's "bullying". Neville, harry and Hermione.
Let's start with Neville:
- Neville was scared of everything. So Snape who is already distant than other teachers + ominous rumours surrounding him + having one of the hardest if not hardest subject to teach + failing his class so effortlessly = outstanding fear factors.
- Neville never met the de that tortured his parents before that certain boggart class. Only after the boggart class.
- Snape can't help it if a kid gets in his class scared beforehand. Neither can he help it if students create ominous rumours around him. Nor can he help it if he teaches the hardest class. All of those are fear factors.
- If I were next to Neville, who melted a whole ass pot on day 1 and I got burned. I'd be damned if he got away with a slap on the wrist. He should've gotten detention. Melting a whole pot is a unique skill.
Harry: guy forgave him. No need to pull him into this anymore.
But sure, some fans aren't satisfied with that. Well harry found him suspicious on day 1, breaking the rules over and over while Albus rewards such behavior by handing Gryffindor the points. Snape has to keep THAT child safe. Meanwhile that child is running around into the most dangerous situation one after the other
But Snape still threw himself in harm's way to keep that kid safe. Harry saw his own dad and sided with the person he hated without a second thought. Calling Snape the bravest man for a reason.
Hermione: her comment on ther teeth was mean. She changed it too, but her attitude against Snape didn't lessen either. She stuck to being a know it all so ignoring Snape's comments and even came to trust him.
Snape even corrects a painting that calls her a mudblood. That alone should be enough.
Result: now I know what fans already will say.
"So blame the kid" and anything along those lines. Alright, nitpickers. Let's not be cherry pickers then. Do you hate other teachers then? Do you hate these teachers?
other teachers:
Rubeus Hagrid
Introducing Dangerous Creatures in Care of Magical Creatures:
In Prisoner of Azkaban, Hagrid introduced Hippogriffs to third-year students without proper caution, resulting in Draco Malfoy being injured and causing Hagrid significant trouble. Even though hipogriffs are dangerous and unstable creatures that live off of being treated high and mighty. Students, especially teens would have a hard time grapsing that. In the end almost killing Draco.
Overestimating Students' Abilities:
Hagrid frequently introduced students to creatures beyond their skill level, such as Blast-Ended Skrewts (Goblet of Fire), which were uncontrollable and posed a risk to students.
Exposing Harry, Hermione, and Ron to Grawp:
In Order of the Phoenix, Hagrid led Harry, Hermione, and Ron to meet Grawp, his half-giant brother, without considering the danger involved or the ethical implications of involving them.
Drunken Behavior in Front of Students:
Hagrid was often drunk at inappropriate times, such as in Goblet of Fire during the Yule Ball and in Half-Blood Prince when mourning Aragog, which sometimes affected his ability to interact responsibly with students.
Negative generalization:
Hagrid tells Harry (before the boy even is in Hogwarts) that all Slytherins are evil. "There is not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin"
Horace Slughorn
Favoritism:
Slughorn showed blatant favoritism toward students he considered talented or famous, such as Harry, Hermione, and Ginny, while ignoring or undervaluing others, which could demoralize less favored students. Indirectly snuffing out possibilities of other kids.
Encouraging Risky Behavior:
In Half-Blood Prince, he hosted parties and gatherings where he provided opportunities for students to drink alcoholic mead, such as at the Christmas party, creating an inappropriate environment for minors.
Manipulating Harry for His Own Prestige:
Slughorn sought to associate with Harry Potter primarily for personal gain and to boost his own image by being connected to the famous Boy Who Lived.
Minerva Mcgonigall
Sending Students to Dangerous Detentions:
While McGonagall did not directly send students to the Forbidden Forest in Philosopher’s Stone, she approved their punishment. The detention involved following trails of unicorn blood, a task far too dangerous for first-years.
Endangering Students by Recruiting Harry for Quidditch:
In Philosopher's Stone, McGonagall recruited Harry Potter as Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team after seeing his flying skills during an incident with Draco Malfoy. While it was a great opportunity for Harry, it also placed an eleven-year-old in a highly competitive and dangerous environment. A child that never heard or played Quidditch before.
Emotional manipulation:
While scouting Harry for Quidditch, she deliberately told him (an orphan that yearned for a connection to his parents) he was so much like his father for that Quidditch talent to sway his choice into joining
Hates losing:
Is prepared to bend and break school law to scout a 1st year into joining Quidditch. A sport he never saw or heard of before, simply because she couldn't face Snape after a previous match. In other words, is prepared to do a lot simply because she hates losing
Endangering Neville:
She let Neville sleep outside the Gryffindor room with a killer on the loose. Fully aware, the killer was aiming for Hogwarts.
Remus Lupin
Endangering student:
By not taking the one potion he got from Severus Snape, who by the way, made it for free for him. A potion that kept him sane after the transformation to a lycan. Aka, Remus no bitey bitey people or Remus no killey killey people.
Being snarky and sacrificing life and limb to keep those student safe vs being nice and actually almost killing kids, my choice is pretty clear. Sure, this could be nitpicking but some fans nitpick Snape too. How do we like nitpicking now?
Comparing James and Severus is like comparing a slave to a king. It's not fair at all. Realize that. And those that say "Snape gave it as good as he got" are simply incapable of understanding human emotions. Because did Snape win even once even though he gave it as good as he got? No. We only see Snape suffering from a 4 vs 1.
To the people that say "Remus wasn't part of it so it's 3 vs 1". Be more thoughtful for once. Use that thing between your ears. Remus is a prefect, he was given that position to keep James and Sirius in line. Did he do that? Yes or no? No. In fact, he later reveals that he also helped James and Sirius keep the abuse of Snape under the cover when James STILL bullied Snape after he got Lily. If 3 beat up a kid, you watch but have the authority to snitch but don't, you're just as responsible. Making it a 1 vs 4 by default.
Which leads me to the next point. None of the marauders changed. Using Lily as a guidance (so James changed caus Lily married him) is mysoginistic af. Women can make faults too. Sirius still calls Snape Snivellus and he was like a mirror of James. Don't excuse that because he spent 13yrs in prison, otherwise you can excuse Snape too. A man whose worst memory is James. A memory so full of grief and fear, more than war and espionage that Snape witnessed. Excuse both then.
And people that say "1 vs 4 is a rivalry". Please. If you played in court with 4 vs 1, and the 4 players won often. Is that equal? No. It's ridiculous. That you have 4 enemies and win from an individual enemy? Sure. That can exist. But if your 4 enemies constantly gang up on you and you lose, it clearly isnt a rivalry.
Also, they blocked me. Loser 🤣

i like severitus where snape has been taking care of harry, and harry still ends up in gryffindor. like, I know the usual way is that he ends up in slytherin after severus influence (or ravenclaw, as i have recently read in some fanfics), but harry is still very much the son of his parents. still, harry being a little bit more open towards slytherins would be a great idea.
harry finally breaking the cycle about the petty beef between gryffindor and slytherin. harry getting a lot more help after befriending some classmate from slytherin, specially in his second to forth year.
harry still doing very dangerous shit but now the slytherins kind of cover for him so he doesn't get in trouble with severus. they all end up in trouble with severus tho 😔

Harry James Potter was so utterly failed by Wizarding Child Protective Services (assuming that even exists, which is doubtful) throughout his childhood that one of my favorite headcanons is that as an adult, he did some serious advocacy for child abuse victims. Give me a Harry whose job as DADA teacher enables him to get a close look at and easily pick up on signs of domestic abuse or neglect among his students because he knows what that’s like, he remembers what that’s like, who becomes a safe haven for troubled kids who need one of their professors to understand why they don’t wanna go home for Christmas break, who immediately files reports and pulls all necessary strings without stopping until those children get better homes, thus giving the ULTIMATE middle finger to a certain Albus Dumbledore and a certain Severus Snape. Give me a Harry whose time as a healer introduces him to young patients who have been beaten up or starved at home, who bangs on every door in the reformed Ministry until that child is with safe guardians, giving the ULTIMATE middle finger to a certain Vernon and Petunia Dursley. Give me a Harry who transforms 12 Grimmauld Place from an empty shell to an orphanage or child abuse victim shelter, allowing so many children to also be “The Boy Who Lived” or “The Girl Who Lived” by having a safe place to go when their families fail them, giving the ULTIMATE middle finger to the Black family legacy of cruelty. Give me a Harry who, instead of following the heteronormative norm and biological parenting norm, ADOPTS a child or two or more with Draco, whom they rescue from orphanhood or abandonment, whom they CHOOSE to love and raise REGARDLESS of the children’s biological blood status, giving the ULTIMATE middle finger to blood supremacy itself.

================================================
The sun has just set by the horizon, casting long gloomy shadows along the quiet streets of the little town of Spinner’s End. Most of the houses were dark with no light and life in them, except for one - the home of a new neighbour, you.
You had recently moved into town because of the expensive lifestyle you had faced living in cities like London. Here, you could have similar accommodations for much cheaper, allowing you to save some money for renovations. Moreover, you were a pureblood witch who had been brought up the Muggle way. Your parents, fearing for your safety and wanting to keep you away from the pureblood prejudices of the wizarding world, had chosen a quiet, hidden upbringing for you. Despite this, they ensured you received a wand and a solid grounding in magic so you could adapt when the time came for you to engage with the magical world. Now, here you were, transitioning to an unknown town and a fresh start.
Coincidentally, the house you bought was next to a person named Severus Snape, a figure you knew little about other than mere whispers and gossips of his mysterious dark character along with his infamous billowing robes that he seems to wear all the time.
However, tonight you were in a celebrating mood and well spirited so you connected the enchanted gramophone-an heirloom that can be turned into a laptop when among muggles that play both Muggle and magical tunes-to the Bluetooth speakers you had enchanted to work with it, blasting your favorite tunes to celebrate the achievement of settling done after a long arduous week. Moreover, it was New Year’s Eve, so why not just ring in the new year spirits, you thought.
The bass echoed and thumped through the walls, the beats along with the bass filled the air, creating a stark contrast to the usual tranquility of Spinner’s End. Unbeknownst to you, Severus Snape was in his basement trying to brew The Draught Of Living Peace and the music was not aiding his effort in brewing it peacefully.
With a deep sigh and a furrowed brow, Snape slammed the knife he was holding with frustration down on the countertop. He could no longer bear to ignore the raucous and booming sounds from your house. Determined to put an end to this nuisance, he donned his robes and stormed out of his house, marching up to your front door.
You were in the middle of a particularly energetic dance when you heard a very loud knock. Startled, you paused the song, quickly transfiguring the gramophone into the laptop, and slipped your wand in your sleeves when you went to the door. Who could it be at this hour? You opened it, only to find Snape standing there, looking pissed off and irritated.
“Good evening,” you greeted skeptically, trying to mask the surprise with a friendly and jovial smile.
“Well, it would be a good evening if you weren’t blasting that infernal music in your merry way when others are trying to accomplish meaningful tasks in their life.” he replied sarcastically, his voice dripping with irritation.” Do you have any idea what time it is?”
You were flabbergasted by his words and glanced at your watch shrugging you said “ It’s not that late even. I didn't think it would be a problem seeing there’s not many staying on the street and your house was dark too so I thought maybe you were out. I didn't think it would be a problem.”
Snape’s eyes narrowed further. “Well, it is a problem. As the music is preventing me from completing my work as it needs a modicum of peace and quiet.”
Realizing and feeling guilty for your mistake, you sighed apologetically. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to disturb you and disrupt your work. I just got a little carried away with the New Year’s spirit”.
Snape’s stern expression softened slightly, though he still looked exasperated.”Just keep it down, would you?”
“Of course,” you agreed, feeling a bit sheepish. “ I’ll turn it off. I didn’t realize it was bothering anyone.”
With a curt nod, Snape turned and walked back to his house, leaving you feeling a mix of embarrassment and curiosity about your enigmatic neighbor.
As you settled down for a quieter evening, you couldn’t help but reflect on the interaction. Despite his stern and dark personality, something was intriguing about Severus Snape. You absentmindedly slid your wand out and started twirling it as you mused. Maybe, as the new year began, this would be a chance to bridge the gap between your vastly different worlds. You smiled softly, thinking of ways to make amends or perhaps even find common ground with your mysterious neighbour.
As the clock struck midnight, you whispered an incantation that released a small burst of sparkling light—your own magical tradition for welcoming the new year.
You quietly wished yourself, "Happy New Year," hoping that it would bring new opportunities and connections—and maybe, just maybe, a peaceful relationship with the man next door.

Severus Snape thoughts
I've prodded him with my thoughts before but now I need to post through it. Because he's my princess.
I think a lot of what makes Snape so complex (and so compelling) is that he is neither a good person nor a just person. He really is beefing with that 11-year-old. He really did scoff at Albus saying that he would protect Harry because he cares about him. (LMAO, btw). He really is just a horrible guy, which honestly makes his efforts that much more brave and noble!
When we see the Prince's Tale, Severus Snape personally curates his timeline to showcase his bigotry to Harry. He specifically isolates moments where his antipathy for muggles is contrasted with his love for Lily. He does not show Harry his home life, or how much Lily liked him, he is on topic: I hated muggles, but I loved her. And then he isolates a moment where Lily finally explains how troubled she is by his friends, and he cuts off whatever teen drama motivated her to say it. He shows his worst memory again, something he was shaking with rage and fear at Harry discovering. He shows the aftermath of him grovelling.
And after that is the timeskip. His feelings are not relevant. In fact, all of his memories may as well be from Lily's perspective. It is significant that all his memories are essentially from Lily's perspective.
What Snape was showcasing to Harry is that he knows that he was not listening to her. He knows he was being patronizing, that he prioritized his exclusive access to her over feelings, that he treated her beliefs as if they were irrelevant or biased.
Snape took on a patron-like relationship with Lily, teaching her wizarding culture and presumably acting as the source of her incredible potions ability (despite her expertise clearly being charms). He most definitely assumed that in the Dark Lord's new order, people like Lily would be coveted for their magical skill alone, and he would not really care if the Death Eaters executed Lily's parents and sister because they're just muggles.
And then she is murdered for protecting Harry Potter too well. She is disposable. He had to have heard it. She's just a mudblood.
Snape gives himself no excuses in the Prince's Tale. He did not include what he did for her in his memories, because he prided himself in uplifting her star and probably still does, and the memories in that bottle exhibited his shame. He provides no context which might paint himself in a better light. He is giving Harry his remorse, with raw, open honesty. 'Here is where I went wrong.'
Snape's character is that of someone who is bearing the excruciating burden of not only being responsible for the death of a loved one, but silently de-radicalizing himself, all alone, while still on the inside. He lives in his muggle house. He intentionally repaired the link between his current self and his shameful muggle origins in order to acknowledge the way he treated muggles was wrong and the way he treated Lily was unforgivable. He won't even let paintings use slurs.
There is a temptation to polish his image, to say he was justified or uniquely victimized, without acknowledging Snape is messy and cruel has always been fundamentally incapable of empathy, yet he has passionate feelings on doing the right thing. He spent 10 years making an active choice to be a good person, a thing that does not come naturally to him. The point of the Prince's Tale is that it does not come naturally to him!!!!! And he does it anyway!!!!!!
He doesn't want Harry to die because he's the last thing he has left of Lily (🙄), but because the right thing to do, the Lily thing to do, is to not raise a boy for slaughter, let alone her boy.

5 Tim Drake-centric Must Reads
Find post 5 Tim Drake-centric Must Reads: Animals/Non-humans here.
Find post 5 Bat Family Must Reads: Former Robins And Their Kids +1 Undercover Dick Grayson here.
I like Tim Drake-centric fanfictions for two main reasons, although Dick Grayson is actually my favourite Robin. Firstly, Tim reminds me a lot of Peter Parker (a genius, photographer, teenage superhero with a billionaire superhero mentor who is also a father-figure to them), who is probably my favourite superhero of all time. Secondly, the big thing I love about the Batman fandom is the Bat Family (aka BatFam). I adore the sibling relationship between the characters, always just want to them be close brothers/sisters. That is why my Batman fic recommendations are Tim Drake-centric. Because during and after Tim's time as Robin we have a larger BatFam. It's the family element.

Bad Parent Jack Drake, Child Abuse, Trains, Implied/Referenced Homophobia, Crying, Gaslighting, Coming Out, Hurt/Comfort, Family
Summary:
When he ends up ditched in Atlanta after a fight with his dad, Tim decides to do the only sensible thing: Tell no one and make the 800 mile journey back to Gotham on his own.
Because the "call Batman when you're in trouble" rule only applies when he's Robin, right?
Language: English Words: 24,696 Chapters: 5/5
Yuki Note:
If you only ever read two Batman fanfictions, then let this be the second one (The Long Way Home being the first). This is an excellent representation of gaslighting, manipulation and mental and emotional child abuse (by Jack Drake to Tim Drake) and how it can effect an adolescent child. This is such a brilliant fanfiction – highly recommended!

Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Bruce Wayne, Batfamily Members
Bruce Wayne is a Good Parent, Reconciliation, Hurt/Comfort, Lazarus Pit Madness (not current. Mentioned in the past)
Summary:
With Jason tentatively back in the Batfamily, things are going pretty well for him--except for the whole thing with Tim. But who gives a shit about Tim Drake?
But when Jason and Tim are pulled into a frightening race for their lives inside a labyrinth that's out to kill them, they may have to look past their differences just to stay alive. Maybe along the way, they'll discover they aren't as different as they thought, and family comes in many different forms.
Language: English Words: 111,685 Chapters: 13/13
Yuki Note:
This is one of the best fanfictions I have ever read. This is written so well that it could be a published novel. However, before reading this please be aware of the horror elements throughout the story as well as the canon typical injuries, near death experiences and past mentioned child abuse in here (not by Bruce). If you only ever read one Batman fanfiction, then let it be this one.

It’s not like he’s surprised a magic school exists— that’s probably only a seven on the scale of “crazy things Tim Drake has seen”. No, Tim’s just surprised he’s enrolled.
Part 1 of Scientific Method
Language: English Words: 133,507 Chapters: 46/46
Yuki Note:
A really fun read! Ever wanted a brilliantly clever and magical Tim Drake who is also able to see the future? Well, then this one is for you! This story covers Tim’s first and second year (he skips a year so if I recall correctly he skips to third year after his first year) and is a Fix It Fic for A Death In The Family. There is also a sequel fic in the works. Recommended!

His life is peculiar but he wouldn't change a thing. When he gets booked for the big Wayne Halloween party, however, he finds himself getting all tangled up with the Waynes, and the more fortunes he tells, the tighter the snare becomes.
or: Tim just wanted to scam Gotham's elite, not end up on the Batfamily's watchlist. But it seems they just won't leave him alone..
Language: English Words: 69,788 Chapters: 30/30
Yuki Note:
This has been on a lot of BatFam rec lists lately and for good reason! This is a fantastic read, a very fun and smart idea of how Tim could join the BatFam late. I really like that this Tim is a bit more down and out whilst still remaining quintessentially him (I just think it’s great that he and Jason and Steph have more to relate to one another to). I am here for all the sibling content so I love this! Highly recommended!

Bookmarker's Tags: Minor Character Death, Suicide
Yuki Note (from original bookmark):
I was hesitant when I went into this story, mostly because of the gender change for Tim/Timi. I am not against gender changes in stories but I find they need a point, a purpose, a reason for the change. But there is a point to Timi being a woman in this story, as it deals with the challenges, discrimination and sexism that she has to deal with in the corporate and hero world.
I really enjoyed the corporate storyline since few stories actually deal with Timi's work and the challenges therein. The family storyline is great too and I love how everything comes to a head and forces Bruce and Dick to face their failures and finally, finally do something about them. Highly recommended!
P.S. Don't worry about the Pre-Jason/Tim tag on this story. There is literally no Jason/Tim at all, in fact they don't even interact any more than Tim interacts with Cass, Steph or Dick. This is 100% Jason&Tim, a close sibling bond.
Trigger Warning: This is presently not tagged on the story but should be. It is mentioned that a minor recurring character commits suicide in the story. You don't see it, it is only mentioned. To those who find suicide triggering, be aware of this.
Enjoy! And feel free to explore my full AO3 rec list here.

Snamione Fic Recs
While I'm in a posting lull where I'm writing a lot but nothing is finished, I thought I’d rec some of my recent favourite sshg fics. I don't read as much as I'd like to because I'm usually writing or making art in my free time, but I've found some great ones and I hope if you read them you enjoy them too!
All We Ever Wanted was Everything by Cheam_Creems (Time travel marauders era, Romance/Angst, E, 156k)
Summary: A strange encounter with Draco Malfoy gives Hermione a choice: Stay in a suffocating office job and relationship or jump back into a war. The decision is surprisingly simple.
Why I loved it: I loved everything about this fic. No really. The characters felt flawed and human, with complex relationships, real traumas and troubles, and consequences from their bad decisions. The worldbuilding around the first war was fantastic too, and the ending was *chef's kiss*. I cannot say enough good things about this story.
Temptation’s Cost by our_sunny_selves (Muggle AU, Romance/Angst, E, 55k)
Summary: This is a two-part series made up of Where Boundaries Blur and No Safe Distance. Severus Snape has always prided himself on his control—his discipline, his restraint. But when he attends a dinner party at the Edward Granger's in the summer, Ed's daughter Hermione, who he barely knows, is all sharp wit and knowing smirks and his carefully ordered world begins to unravel. What starts as a dangerous game of glances and lingering touches soon spirals into something far more illicit. She is his best friend’s daughter. She is nineteen. She is forbidden. And yet, he cannot seem to say no.
Why I loved it: I really felt for Hermione in this fic, and all the bad decisions by her and Severus felt believable. I love exploring imperfect people in messy situations and this fits. Also, the smut was smoking hot.
The Love Department by jellybeany (Unspeakables, Romance/Humour, Unrated, 25k)
Summary: Severus Snape is tasked with finding the recipe for love. But he won't be doing it alone…
Why I loved it: I laughed out loud during this one. Wonderful writing, a unique premise, some truly A+ banter, and great characterizations.
Pressing Flowers by turtle_wexler (Accidental marriage, Romance, E, 15k)
Summary: Collecting potions ingredients, Hermione and Severus stumble upon a fairy ring and accidentally marry themselves with ancient magic, which has some rather unfortunate consequences.
Why I loved it: I love a good idiots to lovers. This has great banter, one bed, an adorable relationship between Severus and Crookshanks, a slowly building relationship, and the perfect ending.
Cut Clean and Dry Dreams by thefrenchpress (Post-war, Romance/Angst, E, 12k)
Summary: Years after the war, Hermione struggles with bearing the weight of her past choices. With everything seeming increasingly bleak, it's no surprise that her late night visits to the local launderette become the highlight of her week.
Why I loved it: Wonderfully human characters, a complicated parent relationship, a slowly building sweet romance, and some hot smut as a bonus.
Intermundane by Anogete (Post-war, Romance/Angst, E, 112k)
Summary: Hermione reaches out to the mysterious owner of Silverleaf Apothecary for help when she realizes a deadly, magic-stealing pandemic is upon the Wizarding world. Severus Snape disappeared from Wizarding society fourteen years ago after he'd recovered from his injuries. Now Hermione is trying to drag him back into it. He agrees to assist, but only if she quarantines at his home while they work on the project together. As they discover ways to treat the illness, Snape realizes he might not be so solitary, and Hermione gets to know the man behind her former professor.
Why I loved it: A satisfying slow burn, with two imperfect characters connecting over music, a reluctant Snape, and unique sex magic.

Honestly, if Severus had had emotional maturity, he would have realized that Lily always minimized his harassment by the marauders, like "boys will be boys." If I were Snape, I would have cut off the friendship a long time ago. What would you do in Severus' position?
The problem with Severus and Lily's relationship is that it wasn’t built on equal footing. Lily made a friend, possibly like many others in her life, because she came from a structured family with a solid foundation in interpersonal relationships. Despite her issues with Petunia, we know her parents adored her and were thrilled to have a witch for a daughter, so we can assume her emotional role models were quite positive, which helped her build relationships at school and even become somewhat popular. For Severus, though, Lily wasn’t just a friend. Severus came from a poor and dysfunctional family, his father was abusive, and his mother didn’t seem to do much to protect her son from that abuse. His view of relationships and affection was already deeply distorted by the environment he grew up in. For him, being with Lily, playing with her, was a way to escape what was happening at home. It was a moment of peace, of stability, something he wasn’t familiar with. I genuinely believe he developed a very strong emotional dependency on her and her attention, because, from childhood, Lily represented everything good, everything that made him feel safe and important to someone.
Then adolescence hit, and they had very different interests and goals. I don’t hate Lily, but I do think she was a bit shallow. I mean, ending up with a rich, socially successful bully is pretty shallow. And it fits her character, because at the end of the day, she was a lower-middle-class girl in the Muggle world, and a Muggle-born in the magical world—she didn’t belong to any relevant social class in either. So, being pursued and courted by the most popular guy in her year, who was also super rich and from an important family, must have appealed to her. J.K. Rowling said in an interview, when someone mentioned that Lily supposedly hated James, that “Lily never hated James. You, as a woman (to the interviewer), should understand or know that.” She hinted that all the hatred towards James was an act and that she was actually attracted to him, which tells me a lot about Lily as a person and her values. I would never date a bully, whether or not they had attacked my friend. If I saw someone constantly abusing others at school, I wouldn’t date that person, but Lily did. And I don’t think it was because James made her believe he had changed, manipulated her, or any of the nonsense people say. I don’t think Lily was stupid. I think she knew exactly what she was doing by getting involved with someone who could give her social status, a life of comfort, and a position she didn’t have in either the magical or Muggle world.
Severus clearly went in a different direction. He wasn’t doing well at school, and the rich, popular kids decided that picking on him was easier than going after their rich, pure-blood classmates, because those pure-bloods could get them into real trouble, so it was easier, more comfortable, and safer to go after the weakest link—the poor half-blood. They made life unbearable for someone who already felt that life outside of school was equally unbearable. They bullied someone who was already being abused outside of school, and that’s probably what pushed Severus—if he already had an interest in the Dark Arts—closer to more negative influences.
Lily and Severus grew apart as they matured, and this is completely normal. It happens to all of us as kids. We all had those close childhood friends who took different paths during adolescence, and that’s okay. The problem is that, despite everything, Severus still saw Lily as that symbol of his childhood happiness. She was his happy memory (which is why the whole Patronus thing makes a lot of sense), because he probably didn’t have happier moments than the ones he shared with her. And in the midst of all the bullying and questionable influences at Hogwarts, during the early years, Lily was probably also his safe space. But Lily didn’t see Severus in the same way, and I’m not talking about romance, but rather that she didn’t see their friendship as something necessary, something emotionally vital for her. Severus was dependent; she wasn’t.
In a way, I think that, beyond emotional immaturity, Severus also lacked healthy emotional role models, and therefore he didn’t realize that Lily was actually kind of a jerk. Add to that the fact that he was blinded by her, considering her his emotional anchor, and he probably wasn’t able to see her negative traits. That’s also very common.
I believe that if Lily hadn’t died and Severus had had the chance to have a life of his own without sacrificing all his autonomy and independence to serve Dumbledore, over time he would have matured and gained perspective, because despite everything, he was a smart guy. He would have realized that his relationship with Lily was always one-sided, and I think he could have started fresh and become a functional person. But he never got that chance. It’s been proven in psychiatry that abuse victims who don’t process their traumas remain stuck in the time period when the abuse occurred. In Severus’ case, the abuse started in childhood and continued throughout adolescence, so it’s logical and normal that he ended up being a very dysfunctional adult, unable to manage his emotions properly or set limits for himself when situations triggered him too much. In some ways, he acts like a child. The comment about Hermione’s teeth is childish—it sounds like something Draco would say, and Draco is a teenager. The same goes for many of his remarks to Harry or Neville, which are basically sarcastic jabs from a bratty kid being a jerk. I think we see this best (because it happens between equals, interestingly between two people with significant emotional issues) when he has several confrontations with Sirius. Maybe Sirius’ immaturity is more obvious because he’s a loudmouth and pretty extroverted, but Severus also behaves like a brat, which shows that despite not spending 12 years in Azkaban, he hasn’t grown either. If we think about it, Severus had his own Azkaban: Hogwarts. He had to return to the place where he had a terrible time and experienced several of his worst traumas, to teach, even though he didn’t even want to be a teacher, and he had to adopt that jerk persona to mask all the emotions and insecurities he felt being there. You can’t heal in the place where you were hurt. You can’t heal by giving up your life for a greater good. You can’t heal while feeling guilty over the death of someone who was once the most important person in your life. Severus was stuck in adolescence mentally, even though he was an adult. And this happens a lot with victims like him.
Honestly, despite everything, I think Severus was quite level-headed and pretty decent. Or maybe I’m saying this because I’m more of a jerk than he is, but I would have made James Potter and Sirius Black suffer a lot. I would have found out all their secrets and made them public, putting all my efforts into making them wish they were dead and even have suicidal thoughts. And if a friend of mine had acted like Lily, who kind of laughed when Snape was being abused, I would’ve beaten her so badly she’d lose her nose. But well, I have less ethics than Severus and maybe more temper.

Any head canons you're willing to share about Sarah, Snape, and co? I'm invested.
Here are some headcanons for you...
Once Anya gives birth to Sarah and dies during childbirth in Azkaban, the Ministry of Magic considers leaving the child with the Dolohov family but first tries to find out who the child's father is. Severus Snape is confirmed as Sarah's father and gains custody of her.
After Snape is confirmed as Sarah's biological father, the Ministry spends a few months trying everything they can to take custody of Sarah away from Snape, believing that he could be a danger to the child due to his past as a Death Eater.
At this moment, Snape fears losing his daughter to the Ministry, but at the same time he questions whether he will be the father she deserves.
With Dumbledore's help, Snape manages to keep custody of his daughter.
From now on, Snape will do everything to protect Sarah and to prove to the Ministry that he is a good father, and would never be a risk to his daughter. Thus, he becomes very overprotective.
Snape had no idea how to raise a child, so he did what he did best, he studied. He read every book on parenting he could find and became a master at being a father.
Snape never liked children in general, Sarah was his only exception. He would do anything for her. Within limits, he didn't want to raise a spoiled brat.
When Sarah was a toddler Snape would take her to play in a park near Spinner's End, but he would keep her close at all times. If any stupid child bothered her, he would scare them away.
Snape does not use corporal punishment. He does not want to be like his father in any way. His method of discipline is time-out… Sometimes a pinch or a tug on the ear every now and then, nothing serious.
As Sarah grows up, Snape becomes increasingly anxious and stressed.
Snape expects academic excellence from Sarah, and always guides her towards the path he believes is right.
Aside from his past as a Death Eater and Sarah's mother, Snape is very honest with Sarah, he tries to tell her the truth about the world, they talk a lot about lots of different subjects.
Snape may be seen as a conservative father to many people, but the truth is that he only wants the best for his daughter, and he honestly does everything to see her happy.
When Sarah comes out to him, Snape is not surprised. But he makes sure she knows she is loved and that he will support and protect her always.
Sarah's coping mechanism is to write her frustrations in her diary.
Sarah hates most of the people in her house at Hogwarts, but most specifically Pansy Parkinson. The girl is a living hell.
Sarah is a sassy girl, even to her father. But she tries to control herself around other people, because she doesn't want them to take him less seriously because of her.
Sarah knows better than to argue with her father when it comes to his rules. But that doesn't mean she'll accept them without complaint.
The main reason why Sarah is always arguing with her father is because she doesn't know anything about her mother, but also because Snape tends to keep her in a bubble at all times.
Sarah is the affectionate one of the family. She loves to hug her father all the time (when no one is looking of course).
When she was younger, Sarah liked to paint her father's nails.
Sarah lived at Hogwarts before becoming an official student, but the rule was that she couldn't leave her father's quarters without him… A rule she broke countless times.
Sarah loves toads, but Snape is disgusted by them so she could never have one. One time Sarah sneaked a toad home to test a potion on it, and the toad ended up multiplying… She was in trouble.
Ron Weasley doesn't really like Sarah because he thinks she's too much like her father. Sarah thinks he's a bit of an idiot.
Hermione also doesn't like Sarah at first, because she doesn't believe she can be trusted. But little by little they become friends.
Sarah knows that Snape has to protect Harry, and this makes her slightly jealous. She doesn't like the boy very much at first, but she always tries to help him as much as she can.
… and that's enough for today folks!

I know there's a lot to criticize Lily for, but do you have any fun/cute headcanons about the Snily friendship? I don't think it was ever completely healthy, but I do think there's plenty of room for some cuteness in that dynamic, especially before Hogwarts. I like to think they used to spend a lot of time in Lily's room listening to music, and bantering and trying to convince each other about their different music tastes.
Oh, I do think snily friendship was pretty cute, even if codependent. They clearly spent some time at her place, and she was aware enough of the situation in his household to be concerned, so I hc she helped him to deal with his bruised hands and face a couple of times, like took an ointment in secret from her parents' medical kit, and they pretended it was a potion to make it all a bit better.
Spending time with her, Severus would have access to things not available to him at home – like a music player, actually! Would Snapes even have a radio, if they couldn't afford a shirt for their son? Where would Severus listen to popular music before he met Lily? It had been Lily who introduced him to it – and he tended to agree with her music choices initially, but after some time, figured out that his taste is actually quite different from hers.
I also think they role-played as wizards a lot, lol, like were running around with sticks and using branches as brooms and made potions out of grass and bugs. Severus took some of the magic books he had to read with her, probably even the textbooks – so Severus and Lily both impressed the teachers with knowledge on their first year!
They'd also totally gossip about Petunia and try to piss her off. Like, they sneaked into her room! They couldn't know about the letter then – Severus could've seen it only if they already were inside, so they did it for fun, or maybe to give her some petty trouble. After all, Lily did turn teacaps into rats in front of Petunia on her vacations, didn't she?...
I don't think that the Evanses approved of their friendship, judging from Severus staying far away from them during the Platform scene and Petunia's derogatory comments on his family, but he'd still probably get some treats (he'd savour every bite) and maybe stay for a dinner a couple of times, and they'd be perplexed that this feral thing has some kind of high-class manners showing sometimes. Other times, he behaves like a total gremlin, tho.
Lily gifted Severus the flowers she magically made bloom, and he kept them as a herbarium in one of his books. He still has those as an adult.
Severus always was stressed before the holidays, because he didn't know what to gift Lily – he didn't have money for anything. So he tried to make something himself – draw her a picture, or bring her wild flowers, or make a secret hideout house out of branches and leaves for her, or create "magical" amulets out of stones and pebbles. When he was a teen, as soon as he started to make his own spells, he created one that made lilies grow and gifted the spell itself to Lily.
When Severus was at her house, he spilled something on his blouse, and they had to handwash it and put it outside to dry for a bit. Lily gave Severus one of her dresses while they waited, so that he didn't sit there naked. He was really shy, but she thought he looked very cute in it.
Lily kept a tiny notebook to write the magical words Severus taught her with her own definitions and illustrations. She drew sparkles and little stars near all the spells. Petunia once found it and made fun of her, so Lily stopped writing in it.
They had a game where they planned which new potions and spells they would invent when they went to Hogwarts. Severus said he’d invent a potion to make Petunia nicer. Lily said she’d find one to make Severus' father calmer.
When they fought, Severus always came to apologise, so Lily had been used he'd always reach out after an argument. He tried to remember what upset her and not repeat the same mistake again – because he had known that's what his mom does to not upset his dad.

Avery fought in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and was likely arrested with the other Death Eatwrs and sent to Azkaban
Whether he survived the second war is unknown
Headcanons
Had two sisters, one older and one younger
He had a great relationship with his family and got on with his sisters and parents
Was friends with Aurora Sinistra since childhood
Became friends with Severus Snape, Juliette Wilkes, Bruce Mulciber and Charity Burbage during school
Charity was the only non Pureblood that he didn't hate and that was only because "she didn't act like a Muggleborn"
He had been in love with Juliette since their first year but they only got together during their seventh
He took school very seriously and got very high grades
Because of his good grades and behaviour in the classroom, he hardly got in trouble for the bullying he did towards Muggleborn students
He could turn the charm on quickkkkk and would never get into trouble for anything
He was classically trained in the cello and would continue practicing during Hogwarts
In between the wars he moved to his family's home in Germany. He only moved back to the UK once Voldemort was resurrected
Being a part of the Death Eaters again brought up a lot of bad memories and emotions that he had been bottling up for the past 14 years, one of which being Juliettes death
During the second war he was determined to "take care" of every remaining person in his year group. because why should they live when Juliette isn't?
He was responsible for the death of Olivia Gleaves and Iola Hillicker
Severus and Bruce helped him. Severus brought information that lead to Emmeline Vances death (which was more of a Dumbledore move but Edmund didn't need to know that) and Bruce brought in George Coutas, who was Juliettes first boyfriend when she was 15 and he was 20
Somehow (idk how) Edmund discovers that Severus was the one to give the information that led to Juliettes death back in the first war. To get back on him, Edmund was the one who bring Charity to Voldemort (ever since she became the Muggle Studies professor he didn't like her anymore)
He was killed during the Battle of Hogwarts
