TW : mentioning we are a programmed system (without any other detail)
Other systems should NOT criticize how different systems manage their own recovery.
We are 6 years into therapy been diagnosed for C-DID and a lot more stuffs but like.. Therapy for Dissociative Identity Disorders just don’t exist in our country. We are way too late on psychiatry, and even getting a CDD diagnosis is a battlefield here. Finding the right therapy is just so rare it basically never happens or you have tons of years to pass on a waiting list.
So yes, we are digging into our own traumas by ourselves (still we go to therapy and never stay alone but with closed ones) because we don’t have a choice and we want to heal ! Yes even if we are a programmed system ! We know this is highly dangerous, we know more than you can ever imagine ! But we don’t have a choice and healing’s not an option, it’s mandatory ! Yes our healing process will be much more complicated and instable, but is this truly worse than doing absolutely nothing ‘till the end of your life ?
If therapy for CDD doesn’t exist here, therapy for programmed system less exist. Basically health professionals don’t even know that’s actually a thing. Neither does our whole country population (only those involved and/or closed ones of survivors).
Stop telling us how we should heal when basically we don’t have many options and you know nothing about our situation here. A lot of countries are factually privileged when it comes to access therapy and health in general.
Stop telling people how they should act on their recovery. You don’t know anything about random people on the internet, you don’t know what they’ve been through and you don’t know what they have to go through in order to access therapy and how they need to manage their OWN recovery.
It depends on where you live, it depends on every individual. Everyone is different, not everyone got the same chances in life. And you should not assume the opposite.
^^ we don't have much to add here, but this is very correct. Do not criticise people for how they chose to recover, don't try to tell them they're doing it wrong, everyone is different and everyone needs different things to recover

An Idea That Would've Helped Me Process My System Better (also hello i haven't posted in a while)
TL;DR IF YOU CANT READ THROUGH If your system is in recovery and feels as though everyone's just becoming defensive/closed off, it may be (partially) because of phrasing when discussing different alters, as an alter may not feel truly supported or connected to the challenges you guy's face. This is about recovery and specifically about when trying to process a system through a third party (in my examples I use medical professionals - MP, but this could include anyone) When I was first open to getting support for my system, I remember being told in many different ways that "an(y) alter HAD a purpose, but don't necessarily have that same purpose now - so let's try to help them change their behaviors" WHICH is a lot easier said than done, right? But, I also didn't have the experience to fully understand what that means or how to support any alters into participating so a lot of helpful advice wasn't usable. SO, I felt frustrated and mostly like I was stuck banging my head against a wall to get the system to a better place. AND the entire system was feeling generally tense because everybody felt vindicated by each other. Alter(s) with an "older purpose" felt they were underappreciated, especially, and were looping back to not wanting to seek support. I started to see the bigger problem (and picture) when I was able to understand why some of the alters felt they were not being taken seriously. And that the wording MPs were using weren't very empathetic. Most of the time, when referencing these alters, words like "useful and not useful", "purposeful and not purposeful", and "help and unhelpful" were used. Along with this, sessions about those alters talked about how they needed to change now, or how they didn't have a "function" now (or their function wasn't good/beneficial). When the system started to change phrasing, and started to change wording to be more understanding of experiences/characteristics we couldn't understand, the alters were more willing to work and communicate as a cohesive unit. If you're a system who's trying to recover but can't seem to get past a communication stage, I would try becoming less goal-oriented and more process-oriented. We have done this by: -creating reaction trees to help think out harmful actions [goal/motive -> actions to achieve motive -> intended consequences AND unintended consequences -> was original goal achieved? -> ideas for different actions to have the same goal that could be used instead] is an example we use -doing venn diagrams of how someone feels about the alter/action vs how the alter feels/thinks about the action (with a similarity bubble to see what things are in common) -taking ANY (genuine/reasonable) feedback from the alter being discussed, even if it's just a paper with angry scribbles (feedback shows an awareness of communication, and can be worked on to become clearer later - it shows a first step) I'm not quite sure if this will help anyone, but when I think back to the start of my recovery I remember being told what NOT to do, but not really being told what better examples could look like. In any case, of course advice or anything will vary from system to system, and what worked for me may not work for you. This is just a generalized idea if you're not sure where to start and don't think this will do any harm to try (if you're unsafe or not ready, please follow your best judgement on what to do). I also mostly say this because I was seeing this kind of thing on a lot of system recovery pages (Not just on tumblr, but on other websites as well), and I think for some people it's not really important (phrasing may not be a big deal), but I feel for some systems this may help/make more sense. (also please know my intent is well even if I worded things a little weird or rambled a bit, I don't really want discourse or anything about this, i just am not very good at communicating my thoughts)

Dick gets his drink mixed up with another persons in the library while visiting Barbara.
He was drinking some kale smoothie thing, for health and stuff, and he set it down to grab a book from the shelf. There was another guy next to him, who also had a smoothie in the same kind of shake-n-go bottle.
They swapped by accident.
Dick checked out his book, said goodbye to Barbara, and took a sip of his smoothie.
That's the last thing he remembers.
He wakes up two days later pinned down by a practically feral Jason, who's eyes are glowing a sickly Lazarus green, with Bruce, Tim, Cass, and Duke all showing signs of losing a fight. He's sore everywhere, and Damian is nowhere to be seen.
"Uh...." his voice cracks, and he's suddenly aware of how fucking painful his throat is. "Hi? What's going on?"
"...Is it really you, Dickwing? I swear to God if it isn't and this is another-"
"Jay I really don't know what's going on, man."
Jason doesn't believe him. Dick is cuffed with anti-meta cuffs and escorted to the cave, where Bruce demands test after test and Dick tells them the last thing he remembers.
Apparently, after taking that sip, his eyes had turned to Lazarus green, and he had beelined for the mansion. Along the way there, he had run into the Riddler.
He had broken most of the Riddler's bones.
That was when everyone had been called in to subdue Dick, who for some strange reason kept gunning for Damian. Hence, Damian was upstairs and not allowed down until they were sure Dick was okay again.
It's concluded that Dick drank some alternate form of Lazarus Water, lost his mind, proceeded to take everyone out with enhanced strength and speed except Jason, who had entered a Pit episode just to keep up, and worked through it two days after consumption.
But who the fuck transported a material as dangerous as modified Lazarus Water in a fucking shake-n-go bottle?
Danny, however, is a little sad that his ecto-shake was stolen by some rando at the library.
Their kale smoothie was pretty good though.

Getting functional with DID can feel like...
- I probably have a subsystem, but I'm applying for jobs so I don't really care about that right now
- Some of us have never experienced a long-term psychotic episode before because they were inactive before our symptoms started manifesting. It's alright, we'll give them the spark notes now and the full rundown when we feel better.
- "THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD."
- I'm not quite sure who I am, but we're *all* [name] and that's enough to pick up our prescriptions
- Someone's co-conscious and IDK who, but let's go get coffee together because we're *going* to get along, god damn it
- All of the scariest parts look like adults (or monsters), but they're kids. We have to talk to them like they're scared children, and they scream a little quieter.
- "THE WORST THINGS THAT COULD'VE HAPPENED TO US HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED. WE CAN DO THIS."
- I don't need to know how everything works. We're all strong and smart: we can figure it out as we go and be ok.

gentle reminder that I'd you're struggling with your mental health in any capacity, if you feel like you need help or want to talk to someone please do.
it does not matter if "other people have it worse" or you've been worse. If you feel like you need help, then you do.
You deserve to have someone that listens to that and takes you seriously. Your struggles do not change when compared to those of others. Someone being "worse" does not mean yours aren't valid.
Please remember that you never need to get worse to ask for help. If you need support, you deserve it, everyone does.

"Delayed triggers" happen. Sometimes, you might not notice your trigger and get triggered later when you do. Brains work in mysterious ways. It's okay. You're not faking or being attention-seeking for it.

DO and DON'T about somebody with any kind of DID or OSDD
✅ask about pronound
✅ask if person want to make phisical contact
✅respect boundaries
✅wait if alter is rude or harmful for u. They will leave and another alter will get to front
✅be patient with littles and and animal-acting alters. It is hard and boring sometimes, but it happend
❌try to switch alter for somebody who you need
❌ask to switch
❌trigger person to see a flashback. It's painful
❌say that an alter is evil, even if another alter said that. Sometimes alters are really evil, but most of the time they just need some care
❌ask about trauma. If person wants, they will tell you about that.
❌try to be persons psycotherapist. It's not your job, and you can cause harm

Happy to have posted that cause I can go into more depth about certain other demon-lore tidbits and the like! To expand upon the familial aspect:
Split demons often have complex relations when thinking about their Roots, this is strongest in 1st degree Splits while 3rd or 4th have a much more detached point of view. When Splits refer to their counterparts, they'll often use the term brother or sister but it's usually not intended in any gendered aspect.

I always feel so out of place even in system communities. Does anyone else relate at all??
Like, idk some system memes are cool and relatable bc obviously not everything is gonna line up, but so much of it doesn't click with us.
We've almost never been put off by the voices, we all wanna communicate, we don't think less of each other or think 1 deserves more front time than anyone else, etc. Idk, there's so many memes about denial and eating each other's food and all this distress. Which is i know, a major part of many system's lives. Part of what makes a meme is the repeatability and a lot of systemhood IS struggles in that area.
But what about systems who do everything right (in the sense that we have healthy coping and such)? What about systems who unconditionally love each other and dissociative barriers are something we work around instead of fighting? What about the systems who love the voices?
