Sirius' patronus is a small, slender cat. It's fussy and pretends to scratch him every so often. The cat looks like it's partway between being a kitten and a fully grown cat. Sirius will never know that his patronus has a counterpart.

Regulus will know.

No the real reason that Sirius didn't go insane when he was in Azkaban is because he and barty just constantly talked shit about people who they hated from Hogwarts, and it was probably a little like this

when armin mentions having a younger brother, everyone expects only a few years in age difference. literally everyone’s jaws hit the FLOOR when 22 year old armin says his brother is 5.

and he’s such a cool little guy. whenever their mom can’t find a babysitter in time, armin brings him to hang out with him and his friends. eren gets into super heated mario kart tournaments with him 😭 (everybody boos eren). mikasa let’s him paint her nails & connie and jean teach him bad words and eat all the snacks with him. ony does indeed go all out in dance battles against a five year old but you didn’t hear that from me.

he absolutely loves you though. whenever he gets to hang out with all his brothers friends, he always asks “is y/n here?” everyone has so many cute pictures of you two napping & matching halloween costumes & anything else you can think of. that’s basically your son now.

1) In July 1976, he came to the Potters through their floo together with unconscious Sirius. He left again before Effie and Monty came.

2) After his brother got away from home, he continued to secretly check on him.

3) He threatened Snape into not spreading the information about Remus being a werewolf.

4) He hexed another Slytherin for insulting Pandora.

5) He got punished for it by his mother. That was the second time he came through the Potters's floo.

6) He spent most of his nights at Hogwarts in the astronomy tower.

7) Regulus had violent nightmares that left him shaking. Sometimes, the shakes didn't stop for hours.

8) His touch was like the ocean - engulfing, gentle, but also powerful.

He would tell James how he felt when he saw him smile in those letters, or how he imagined brushing through James’ hair with his fingers. He would tell James about how he realized that he fell in love with his brother’s best friend, and about how he imagined Sirius would absolutely lose his shit if he found out. He would carefully collect all the letters with his feelings inside them to give to James when he was ready, hoping that he would accept him and not yet knowing that James absolutely would.

Fifteen years later, when trying to tidy up the Grimmauld Place, Sirius would find a stack of letters under Regulus’ bed, dusty and unopened. He would read them all and break afterwards, feeling the grief suffocate him with knowledge that in another life, where those letters were delivered, he didn’t have to bury his brother and his best friend.
