'nobody's gonna call you frog/frogself irl lol' did you know. did you know that auxiliary(link) pronouns are a thing, and neopronoun users tend to have them? did you know that people like me will accept the usage of 'normal' pronouns in the place of our heavily preferred neopronouns, because we know how much hassle it can be to get people to use them? did you know that we also fucking exist in the real world, or have you convinced yourself that neopronouns are simply an online fad only seen in online spaces?

As a trans cane user I've noticed a distinct difference in how people treat me when they think I'm a girl vs when they think I'm a guy.

When people think I'm a girl they're more willing to help me, almost to an excessive extent. To the point of one guy in my class pulls my chair out for me.

On the contrary when people think I'm a boy (which I more or less am) I get very little help with anything. Sometimes I get straight up ignored.

It's so strange.

Whenever neopronouns are offered at a job for pronoun selection, even if they aren't mine I'm going to choose them.

I'd rather be more representation for neopronoun users in the wild than settle for traditional pronouns that also aren't mine.

Plus my real neopronouns are too obscure, for those that'd look at my pronoun pin, they may not even register that they're pronouns.

For non-neopronoun users, the reason for the majority of neopronoun users being online is, harassment, bullying, and humiliation.

"It's an online identity anyways, no one in real life uses these" please put thought into why that is. It's not as if online is absent of these factors either, but it's a safer distance away from them.

In addition to this, it is highly inappropriate to defend neopronoun users and any identity using "they're young", "they'll grow out of it" or "they're all children". Imagine defending any other group of people using this language.

Stop moving the goal post as well, first it's "This is a tumblr trend" but when neoprn users tell you neopronouns can be traced back all the way to the 14th century, it's "who said being old made them valid, it's dumb".

if you're a young queer person in fandom my greatest token of wisdom is don't fall into the trap of respectability politics.

don't make the mistake of thinking if you engage with fandom in a "palatable" or "respectful" manner to cishet normie audiences they will let you remain in the community without bother. don't for a moment bend your enjoyment or opinions to seem less "strange" to people. make your headcanons and fanfictions and make them weird. stop playing into their hand. have fun.

make that giant, hyper-masculine man trans and then ship him with his equally hyper masculine best friend. every female character can be a lesbian if it so pleases you. make that character a gender-queer, asexual, biromantic, neopronoun user. if someone calls you weird, double down and queerify another character.

and above all else, throwing your fellow queer ppl under the bus for doing it weirder than you only has the bus accelerating to take you down with them. don't fall for it.
