Some tips and tricks I use to be productive through my ADHD:
The “eh might as well” method. If I’m going to the kitchen to eat might as well bring all the cups from my room too
Make it inconvenient to ignore. If I have clean laundry that needs to be put away, I will put the basket in my doorway. Now it’s inconvenient for me to sidestep it. I also do this with my homework.
Hiding or making it hard to access distractions. I can slip into doom scrolling on TikTok so what I did is add the fingerprint requirement to open and removed it from my homepage. Now I have to go through 3< steps to get into it.
Make things convenient. I can get overwhelmed by my clothes so in my closet I have a shelf dedicated to comfort clothes. Pj pants and hoodies mostly, that I can quickly grab and throw on when I need them.
Use the “don’t see, don’t exist” to your advantage. Most of my crafting supplies sit in the same drawer under my bed. They are (kinda) hidden so I don’t get distracted.
Some other random tips
I sort my shirts by graphic, plain or under shirt and sweaters/blouses.
I have my quick grab n go pants next to my most used jackets
I hope these help

I think for a lot of people "getting better" isn't about happiness or personal fulfillment or self-actualization, but about conformity. A lot of people are on their meds because they don't want to be thought of as "off their meds". Or they stick with a diagnosis because they're scared of being labeled as weird or broken instead. They want to be one of the "normal" "acceptable" mentally ill people despite their inability to ever be seen as either by most of society as long as they're mentally ill/ND.
In the ttrpg community we have a saying "no d&d is better than bad d&d", and it's the basis for basically any healthy boundaries and quality control within the hobby. I think people would be doing a lot better if they viewed mental health the same way.
Like I see so many people go "I don't get anything out of therapy/I hate my meds/I don't relate to my diagnosis, but I'm sticking with treatment because I want to get better" and that struggle is so valid, but bad treatment by people who don't take you seriously is unlikely to make you better, no matter how much the Go To Therapy Take Your Meds narrative pushes the idea that literally any psych treatment is great

people saying that ma and sid's deaths didn't matter to haymitch clearly skipped a few pages of the book
haymitch: comes home, sees it is on fire, tries to go in to help, is held back, becomes hysterical, is forcibly drugged
haymitch at the funeral: numb, clearly in shock, trying to put on a brave face for his ma, so out of it he calls merrilee maysilee
haymitch after the funeral: fuck I cannot lose anyone else I must protect lenore dove At All Costs (becomes hyperfocused on saving her, repressing his grief for his family)
lenore dove: dies
haymitch: so that's my breaking point! time for fully fledged alcoholism ig
lenore dove's death is written as haymitch's breaking point that tipped him irreversibly into his depressive spiral, not the only reason why he did so, and I think reading it otherwise is a bad faith lowkey amatonormative reading
#have people never heard of tipping points or catalysts before??? also haymitch clearly was Not Coping after the games before lenore dove#died. she was simply the straw that broke the camel's back#'oh but haymitch thinks about lenore dove more' yeah because he's a loverboy not katniss#haymitch abernathy#sotr#hunger games#lenore dove#haydove#sid abernathy#willamae abernathy

Update: I wrote this at like 1 AM, so I was kind of half-asleep lol. A few people brought up that there were a bunch of duplicates in the list, sorry about that! I redid the whole list and ordered them alphabetically to avoid any repeating words. Hope you find the new list much more helpful!

A hack to make doing dishes (especially without a dishwasher) a little easier for all you fellow neurodivergents: (Not saying this will work for everyone, but it has really helped me so just in case, here you go!)
Get rubber gloves. These really helped me with sensory problems- less "ick gross food on my hands and under my nails" or obsessively washing my hands with a temperature that is way too hot. Plus, the gloves provide a little more heat tolerance, so if you're like me and like the water to be as hot as possible for dishes... well these have prevented multiple burns. ALSO!! Your hands don't get wet... which if you have chronically dry skin this is a hand saver!!
A scrub brush soap dispenser, like this!!

It's incredibly useful- I fill it with soap and dilute it with water before doing dishes and then it's good to go! I found that it really helped me use less soap since I wasn't obsessively adding more every couple minutes. It's also nice as a 2in1 soap and scrubby, which reduces the amount of times you have to switch your focus.
And my favorite tip: Pick a show to watch along with it, and- if this is appealing to you- make it a game; try to race and finish the dishes before the episode ends!! Or just enjoy a nice show!!
Alright, hope these helped someone as much as they have helped me!!

❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒ 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁; this is my personal way of coping with burnout, it may not work for you, but feel free to share in the comments the things that make you feel better when you feel this way ( blogger's note at the end of the post ).
𝟭. recognize the signs ( 🏳️ )
the moment of denial is over. i know, burnouts always come at the worst times when you have upcoming exams and a thousand things to do, but ignoring it won't get you anywhere, on the contrary, it will only prolong the worst, so recognizing and accepting the signs of burnout is the first step to getting out of it. if you don't end it, it'll end you, right? some common symptoms of burnout are exhaustion, excessive irritability, hormonal imbalances, change in appetite (too much or too little), sleep irregularities, increase in nervous tics.
𝟮. take time off ( 🫧 )
allow yourself to rest and recharge by taking a break from work or other stressors. depending on the severity of the burnout you may need an afternoon, or perhaps a couple of days to recover, it's not important, the important thing is that you reserve some deep rest that can really recharge you to start studying/working again. put off all non-essential tasks, put your phone on do not disturb mode and allow your brain to rest. if you have slept little in the previous days, taking a nap will not be bad.
𝟯. set boundaries + practice self care ( 🌱 )
establish clear boundaries between work and personal life to prevent burnout from reoccurring. prioritize activities that promote physical and mental well-being, such as exercise, meditation, and hobbies. i personally love taking care of my body doing beauty treatments that make me feel better about myself. i also deep clean my room and change my bedsheets, if it's true that the mess in our room is a reflection of the mess in our mind i can't see why it can't go both ways: removing the mess from my room is like cleaning my head from the stress in it.
𝟰. rearrange priorities ( 🐝 )
delegate everything you can delegate, you can't do everything alone and it's normal to seek support from colleagues and family. reorganize yourself so you have a plan to follow as soon as you recharge your batteries. ask yourself what led to burnout, was it the workload? in that case breaking it into smaller tasks could make it less onerous. maybe it was it's difficulty? maybe asking for help or using some time for additional research might work. in short, prepare a realistic scheme to follow to tackle the task.
𝟱. seek support ( ❣️ )
talk to friends, family, or a therapist about your feelings and experiences to gain perspective and emotional support.
𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 hi everyone, it's no secret that i've posted very little in the last week, but unfortunately i experienced a bad burnout that incapacitated me for a few days. family circumstances, academic stress and the arrival of spring have added up to take away the strength to do anything from me, but i'm here to recover and here is a simple guide that i always follow when i find myself in these situations. on the one hand i'm happy tho, it's my first burnout since i started university, eight months ago now, i remember that when i was in high school they were much more frequent and long, i feel i've become much more stable.

you are pitting Jesus and Santa Claus against each other. I am acknowledging Santa as both a mythic symbol of Christ and a cultural legend based upon a real man whose faithfulness to Christ was used by God to grant common grace not just to the people of Myra but throughout the entire world. we are not the same.
#I know anti-Santa people who are not smug but the anti-Santa influencers are getting smugger and smugger each year#my generation was not raised to cope with loss of childhood#pro-tip: it comes back when you have your own children#I know because I get a taste of it whenever I visit my friends’ kids#mobile#x#Christmas#Christianity#history#mythology#let kids believe in magic again#you know what believing in magic did for me? trained my heart to recognize the wondrous when I see it#trained me to accept that I don’t and can’t know everything#trained me to live by the faith of adherence when i cannot enjoy the faith of assurance (Matthew Henry)#I was the only person in any of my friend groups who ever believed in Santa#and you know why I didn’t feel betrayed to find out I’d misplaced my belief? because Santa is real.#someone moves even terrible parents to give good gifts to their children on the same holy day every year#someone moves the imagination to ensure that the darkest week of the year will produce the most ethereal lights#someone moves the ancient and forgotten back into our conscious present minds#and if you’re wondering whether I’m talking about Jesus or Santa that’s a GOOD thing!#that’s the whole point!#the Santa mythos *impacts* people all over the world. and that is an act of Providence whether you believe in God or not
