"I wish you were a girl."

Remus hated that he thought this, hated that it crossed his mind every time he was reminded of his father. He knew his father didn't approve of him being transgender, didn't approve of him transitioning, but to cause his own child to hate himself was a low he never expected in this aspect. His father hated his wolf, this Remus understood though because he hated his wolf sometimes too, but to hate who your child is as a person was not okay. For a father to make his only child hate himself, that was something no child should ever have to go through.

Sirius always did his best to help during these times, but it was hard to try and smooth over something that was beaten into you. His father had screamed until his throat went raw. He had thrown every possible object that was in his reach and could potentially cause any sort of damage when Remus had told him how his body made him feel. That was the day he ran away. He ran as far as his legs could take him, until they gave out under him from pain and he couldn't breathe, until all he could feel was his heart shattering. Luckily for him, he had chosen Hogwarts pickup day. He finished his walk to the station and hoped someone would get his luggage from home for him. He knew he would never be able to face his father ever again and he couldn't bring himself to care.

When Sirius saw Remus, he immediately grabbed his friend without caring about what his parents would think. They said nothing but looked away in disgust. Sirius said he didn't care, that he only cared if Remus was okay. He was not, he was so far from okay that he was surprised he was still standing.

Once they were finally on the train, found the rest of their friends and made a plan. When they made it to school they would talk to Dumbledore, ask if he had a way to get Remus his stuff and if he knew anything about magic for transitioning. They also made a plan that he would start staying with James over breaks and the summer, anything to keep him as far away from his father as possible.

"I wish you were a girl."

His first boyfriend had told him that after a particularly heavy makeout session. He thought what they had might have been real, but he was wrong, and now he knew people thought and wished he was still a girl. That all the pain and suffering he went through was still for nothing. That night he cried as hard as the day he had run, he tried so hard to stay quiet, but Sirius had heard him. That was the first night they cuddled in bed together, but far from the last. Sirius held him so tight, like if he were to even think of loosening his grip his friend might just shatter to pieces. So he held on as tight as he could all night, not sleeping until he knew Remus was asleep and well.

His teachers were informed of his situations, his new name and his gender, and they were supposed to also stop the bullying that may follow his coming out. They didn't. They were the worst of all. They would purposefully misgender him and dead name him in class. They only ever cared about his proper name and pronouns when Dumbledore was around to hear. Sirius tried to help, to tell them they were wrong and rude, but it was to no avail.

"I wish you were a girl."

Remus and Sirius finally admitted their feelings for each other and started going out. The bullying was worse than ever, but with Sirius by his side he didn't care anymore. He had cut his hair and performed magic to correct his body. He was finally the boy he always knew he was and Sirius always told him how handsome he was. That didn't stop the thought occurring the first time they kissed though. He ended up breaking down and Sirius had to take care of him. Remus cried for hours, the trauma of his past resurfacing and making it harder and harder to breathe. Sirius never did stop caring for him, telling him that his father was wrong and he was an amazing boy. That his father was missing out on having the most incredible kid. That people were blind and stupid if they couldn't see the handsome man he was becoming.

The room of requirements was theirs for the next 2 hours, they had decided that they were ready. Remus felt good about himself, his body was fit and he thought his scars made him look hot. Sirius looked incredible, his long black hair shining in the light, his muscles showing already though his tight crop top. Yes, Remus was ready. Until the thought came again... but it was different this time, he pushed it away. He thought it might come back, but it didn't. He had pushed it away, he was finally overcoming his trauma, he was finally overcoming all of the shit his father had done to him. He was finally a man.

Remus, of course, being the absolute star he is, wasn't the biggest fan of you overworking yourself, especially in this state

He tried to gently coax you out of this habit. Which worked for about half an hour before you got straight back to it

It's either an absolute bollocking from the teachers or an absolute bolloking from your immune system. Great.

You were currently hunched over a desk in the library, trying to focus.

Lines weren't lining. I swear, you read the same line about 57 times over and it just wasn't going in

You lay your head down in frustration

Look, you didn't mean to fall asleep, but it's grasp was just so comforting

It wasn't until about 20 minutes of Remus asking your mates where the hell you were until he found you absolutely knocked out in the library

His lip quirked up slightly, stroking your cheek gently

He packed up all your books. Another day.

Listen, he would've carried you but with his joints that is not happening

He awoke you as peacefully as he could. He felt like shit about it too.

"Sh, shh, i know dove, i know darling, we'll get you to bed, yeah? Atta boy"

Of course, you can lean a good amount of weight on him as you walk

When you protest slightly he gives you a stern look

"Love, you're pale, your voice sounds like your nose has earplugs up it. Just, let me take care of you. For the hell of it, yeah?"

God, his voice could convince the most stoic person on earth.

Eventually he got you into bed, warm hands taking your binder off (gifted by the courtesy of James)

Normally, after all that moving around the school you'd be awake again, but God everything about that man is so relaxing

He gently, as if he's handling a porcelain doll, dresses you into something comfier, kissing your forehead

"Need anything baby? Tea? Hot chocolate?"

Eventually, you dose off, a side table of neatly folded tissues and a body filled with warmth.
