Mod Kankri, is it problematic for me to identify as transdisabled if I'm going to be actually disabled soon? I'm losing my eye sight and I just want to be blind already because being half-blind is lame and boring.
Tumblr media
Absolutely it is, yes. After all, it is impossible to transition into a cis person- so if you go from transdisabled to cisdisabled, it merely makes no sense.
Also, I can’t express to you just how wrong that is to say. I am told the world has various wonders to see and quite frankly I cannot get why someone would actively choose not to see them. The world is extremely inaccessible to blind people. Not only does this imply you’re going to hurt yourself, but you’ll actively make your life harder and worse.
And being half blind isn’t lame or boring. You know, that can be taken as offense by someone who’s half blind.

Hey yall so…
Imagine…
Being anti and loving Hetalia… being a fan of Hetalia and being an anti—
You do realize that Hetalia is a proshipper show right? I mean … most pairings are problematic and more than like incestous and or sexually aggressive and explicit too. So… LOL.
I hopped on a discord server and one of the people who owns it was like “DNI if proshipper” on their card or whatever the fuck—
Like mother fucker do you not know what Hetalia is?
Do you really have these delulu sunglasses on that make you see nothing wrong? Eehehehehe… dammit this shit cracks me up.
Oh and GET THIS?! The person was underage and they liked one of the most controversial characters in Hetalia that was known for being problematic and also icky … FRANCE…
France literally violated other nations and did some messed up shit and yet you’re saying “dni proshippers”
Hahahah no..
Just no.
Stop you’re embarrassing yourself …

okay, so, i'm the newest headmate. i don't have a solid identity but so far , i'm just going by Ruby or Clover and use he / it / xe / rot and liminal, backrooms, and thing neopronouns. below the cut is a rant about my identity.
my identity makes the system uncomfortable because i'm radqueer , transID , and para . but specifically , they're uncomfortable because we're more prone / vulnerable to these communities due to mental illness . in a way , i'm the worst parts of us in the form of a headmate .
i'm in this weird place where i want to be involved in the rq, transID, para community but we're all just so uncomfortable with it and so am i. i want to recover but i don't and it's got me in this middle place of sorts that i hate being in. i've considered just having us form a new headmate so we could fuse but i know that i'd just come out as the more dominant personality like my traits would still be more prominent. i'm also iffy on fusion.
ik i identify with very problematic terms but i'm both comfortable and very uncomfortable with those terms. it's just so disrespectful but i just can't help myself, ig? i don't want to hurt or offend anybody or any community but it's like i can't help myself and i'm just taking whatever term i feel fits me to understand myself. admittedly, sometimes i don't care what others will think of how i identify bc we have moments of just absolute apathy where we hate everybody and don't care abt what anybody or everybody thinks. for me, ig i feel like that more commonly?
this is who i am and i'm weird and fucked up and a personification of what we're scared our mental illness could turn us into but my god, i hate my own communities. they're so fucking harmful and insensitive and even I can see that but somehow they can't? they're all like damn near 18 or over 18 meanwhile i'm like 14 / 15!! ig i'll post abt the stuff i identify as but under my own tag w smth like "tw ruby / clover" so nobody gets triggered bc i know this can be triggering and i don't wanna trigger anyone.
i don't really have a role? i'm basically a sexual alter and am kinda parabased?
sorry for the rant but whatever. i'm just yapping. i'll see y'all later ig? send me asks if u wanna learn abt me.

I have ~Thoughts~ on the Harry Potter Phenomenon that was
(Courtesy of memories prompted by this Tumblr Poll)
Back when I was a senior in college (back in the mid-to-late 1980s), I actually wrote a fantasy novel for kids aged ~8 - ~11 (in a self-designed course for a single credit, under the guidance of my Literature advisor), inspired by a series of dreams and recurring characters that showed up in them.
My advisor encouraged me to try and get it published. And so, I arranged with teachers from my old school to have a class of 30 or so 10 year-olds beta read it, and give me feedback for revisions. The kids also encouraged me to try and publish it.
So I did.
Now, back then, there was no "Self Publishing." The closest thing was "Vanity Publishing," where you would pay 100% of the publishing cost of your book, which would be printed in hard copy, for the benefit of having 500 -1,000 books shipped to your personal address, which you were then responsible for storing and selling out of the trunk of your car in a parking lot, somewhere. And if word got out that you were trying to claim credit for being a "published author" because of a Vanity Press book, actual publishers wouldn't touch you with a 40-foot pole.
If you wanted to get published, you had to buy that year's copy of Writer's Market: a listing of magazine and book publishers, and agents, with a brief description of what material they published, and what they wouldn't touch.
Guess what genre no agent or publisher was interested in handling?
That's right, Gentle Readers: Fantasy for children aged 8 - 11. I would have happily sent out a dozen queries for each story I wrote, if there were publishers and agents willing to look at them. But for three to four years of trying, in directories of two-columns of tiny print, and several [hundred]* pages long, I'd be lucky to find two or three outlets even willing to look at fantasy for kids.
The general consensus, across the publishing business, was that fantasy was a dead and obsolete genre. If it was for kids old enough to read chapter books and novels, it must also be firmly grounded in realism and actual history, because everyone knows the only people buying books for kids that age were teachers, who wanted stories with practical applications in the classroom.
***
After 3 - 4 years of trying, while I was in grad school, I finally got a rejection from the one agent who agreed to read my novel. A few days later, I received news that my mother had died from the breast cancer she'd been fighting, and my heart just went out of the project altogether.
A few years later, the first Harry Potter book was published. And it became a worldwide phenomenon. And it was the kids, themselves, who were driving the sales.
See, I think the real reason the books were such a success, even though they were never really very well written, was because they were in a genre the audience was hungry for -- a genre they'd been denied access to for all of their young lives.
Someone who is starving will think even moldy bread is delicious.
*Gosh, what a word to leave out via typo; the Writers Market rivaled the Manhattan Yellow Pages in length.

Little animations for my DR tic headcanons!! To be so clear this is *not* me trying to create good rep, this is explicitly me projecting my own tics onto some little guys using gimmicky plot points and then making art about it! so like. grain of salt and a little ableism cw 👍
Chiaki who freezes and shudders in overstimulating environments, ostensibly because her tics are triggered by sound/light/motion — but then in Ch.6 you learn she was actually just lagging when the computer had too much stuff to render nearby. This makes it even more disorienting postcanon when they remember the real Chiaki, who had a slightly different personality and completely different tics. Most of them were omitted from the AI because it was averaged from the memories of several students (including Hajime) who never noticed or mistook them for fidgeting — helped by the fact that her tics vanished whenever she was focusing on a game. It's convoluted but in a way that I think suits the source material lol.
Kokichi who is an expert at making tics look intentional, because he'd rather come off as "annoying on purpose" or even pretend to mock the disorder he secretly actually has than just admit there's a part of himself he can't control. And he certainly doesn’t need anyone outside DICE realizing the tics are a very honest indicator of his stress levels. He treats his own outbursts as cues to whine that he’s bored; he makes meaningful eye contact with Shuichi whenever he can’t stop blinking, because he knows it’ll make Shuichi lose his mind trying decode a Morse code message that doesn't exist; and in the killing game he pairs his motor tics with the straitjacket uniform and a cringy Joker impression to create some campy caricature of “crazy” that scares the people who are idiots (Kaito) and makes everyone else think he’s just doing an offensive bit — which, for better or worse, he kind of is.

(apologjez for the typjng qujrk, j juzt thjnk they're fun)
Tumblr media
And why do you& think typing quirks are fun? I know beings& who use typing quirks involuntarily, and it feels like you’re& making a mockery of them&. Please do some introspection.
Otherwise, well enough. I have just finished reading The Great Gatsby. That book is a cesspool of triggers and I would not recommend it for anyone.

we just wanna bring this up for those who are sensitive to the rq , transID , etc cults .
our next few posts will include the aforementioned topics because we ' ve discovered that for a while now , basically a year and half or two after we joined Tumblr and stumbled upon problematic communities , we ' ve had a very problematic headmate .
as much as we want to ignore him and keep him secret , he ' s expressed thoughts of shame , guilt , and confusion . he wants to discover his problematic identity but also find a new identity specifically by having us form a new headmate so they could fuse but also not really . he ' s overall very confused and stuck and wants to post about it so he could better discover himself and , by connection , help us discover himself .
again , the next few tags will be tagged with " tw radqueer " , " tw transID " , " tw para " , etc . this is just to tell people who could be alarmed by these topics being posted about on a blog that is very much against them . we just want to support our new headmate as he tries to find his true self .
