Ten: Ah—...today’s finally over…..

Ten: (The practice itself isn’t all that hard so I can’t complain……it’s still a drag though.)

Ten: (I guess it still beats getting ambushed by a certain recruiter every day. Feeling kind of thirsty though—)

Ten: Hm?

Muneuji: Murakumo-san.

Ten: (Muneuji Kaguya…..)

Ten: Ah~ Good work today, have a good night~.

Muneuji: Do you have a moment? I’d like to discuss something.

Ten: What?

Muneuji: We really want to know what you think of our performance. As the expert around here, we value your honest feedback.

Ten: (Mm, I figured it was something like that.)

Ten: If you’re feeling that off about it, doesn’t that mean you can already tell what the problem is? You don’t need me to spell it out, do you?

These days, it's hot every day… 😇How is everyone doing? During the summer, I run the air conditioner in my living room 24 hours a day. When I go to bed, I open the bedroom door a little to let the cool air from the living room flow into the bedroom…The gap in my door is perfectly in line with a small vertical window on the east side of my living room. Every morning without fail at around 5 o'clock, the strong morning sun hits my eyes like a laser beam. (I took this photo while half asleep) It's a very intense way to wake me up. This morning, I was woken up by the beam as usual.

The other day I felt a bit squeamish when I was drying my hair with a hair dryer 😱 I think it was probably because it was too hot 😓Even though I was in a cool room with a fan on and keeping hydrated🥺 Your head can get overheated easily even if you are being careful🥺Don't forget to take precautions against heatstroke even when you're at home!

Last month, I went to "Ghibli Park and Ghibli Exhibition" in Tokyo‼️(^o^) It was so much fun~😍 This has made me want to go to Ghibli Park even more ✨I'll definitely go someday…😳✨There were so many great photo spots, I had so much fun taking a ton of picutres😂Today I'll focus on the Totoro section💕 I was happy to see Totoro and the Cat Bus welcoming me at the entrance♡ The inside of the the Cat Bus was so fluffy🥰 They also had Satsuki and Mei's father's study room in display. I love the wobbly pillars😂

I'm worried about everyone in Kyushu after the earthquake that occurred this evening. I hear that there might be a wave of aftershocks and other earthquakes but I hope that the damage will not be too great. The expected epicenter area also includes the Kanto region so I will do my best to be prepared. Please be careful, everyone.

Thursday

Howdy do. It's Thursday here in Dullsville and I've decided to go full steam ahead with fall decor. Why not? Just gonna' do what makes me happy and maybe Mother Nature will see it and usher in some true autumn weather. We've had some really pleasant days lately, it was actually FIFTY degrees on Tuesday morning! I think our high today is 76 which is just fine with me. A little rain wouldn't hurt, but I feel like that's asking too much. I'll just be content that the brutal summer heat seems to have moved on. So....FALL! Remember the candlesticks I was going to paint and distress? I'm building a centerpiece around them, not sure where it's headed yet but I like the before and after.

That's the dollar store pumpkin I covered with napkins, and the little $1 pumpkin stack got some fresh paint. Easy and cheap! Tonight I'm headed to The Foundry for a mosaic class. I've taken these mosaic classes a couple of times before, it's pretty straight forward - you're basically just paying to use the supplies. She always has boxes of tile, glass, china, and of course the nippers to cut it all. The instructor is super sweet, so it'll be fun to create and chat. Tonight's class will make a 14x5 house number or welcome sign. This is the example given.

I plan to make a house number with a Halloween vibe. Our house number is 504, so I can make the 5 and 4 with black tiles and make the 0 an orange pumpkin. We'll see if that works. I've never been able to get to the grouting stage in class. I always have a big plan and not enough time. I'm keeping it simple for this project, so maybe tonight is the night I finish!

Tomorrow I'm scheduled for a COVID shot at 10am. I also have a 1pm plant pick up at the arboretum. Every spring and fall they have a big native plant sale and I always buy a couple of things to support them. This fall I'm just getting some rudbeckia (Black-eyed Susan) and some blue mistflower.

It's supposed to attract bees and butterflies, crossing my fingers but not counting on it. In a quest to lure more wildlife to our yard we added yet another bird feeder. This one clamps onto the railing of the back porch and allows us to watch the birdies from the sofa. The cats are loving it too. It's been nice enough to have windows and doors open lately, so Phoebe is on duty.

Of course, the squirrels found it right away. They never miss a snack. I zoomed in with my phone to snap that from the living room.

This one too - Phoebe had him in her crosshairs.

I think a birdfeeder is better than tv. The sounds are certainly more enjoyable. The new feeder is covered in finches every day now and with the windows open it's lovely to hear their chatter. They sound like they're terrible gossips. A Caroline Wren entertained us yesterday afternoon, they have such pretty songs. Yep, that's who I am now, a crazy cat lady who looks forward to meeting new birds. I own it. I've been reading about people who develop relationships with crows, trading trinkets and stuff like that, and I've never wanted anything more in my life. When I drive between Denton and Easton (which I have to do for just about anything) and I see a crow near a corn field I want to roll down my window and scream, "Come to my house, I'll give you stuff!" Crows remember faces (so do hummingbirds!) so maybe one will land in the backyard soon and recognize me from the road. This is all normal to think about, right? Alright, time for me to go beat my hair into submission, then throw something together for Mickey to eat while I go glue mosaic tiles to a board in hopes of having a little fun. The class is 5:30 to 7:30 and I'm usually the only person who stays to help clean up, so I may be out until 8 o'clock!

Rotten Pumpkins

Present Day

The first week of September had rolled in with that crisp edge in the air, the kind that hinted at the impending fall just around the corner from summer’s end. We were at the grocery store, the one just off Route 9. They already had pumpkins stacked out front, a vivid sea of orange as far as the eye could see— there were a ton of’em. The sight of them made me smile— autumn was my favorite time of year, but it was also a reminder of how fast time was flying.

From the back seat, Mary’s voice rang out, sweet and insistent. “Daddyyyyyyy, can we get one, pleeease?”

Jax’s hand tightened slightly on the steering wheel, his jaw working as he glanced at the humongous pile of orange croppage. I could see the internal battle written all over his face. He let out a sigh, a deep one— if he were to say no, he already knew this was a battle he would most certainly to lose.

“Mary, baby,” he started, “if we carve a pumpkin now, it’s gonna be rotten by Halloween.”

I sat quietly in the passenger seat, watching the exchange with amusement. I knew exactly where this was headed. Mary had him wrapped around her little finger, just like I did. I tried to keep my face neutral, but the corners of my mouth twitched in a smile.

“Pleeease, Daddy?” Mary pleaded again, her voice sweeter than honey, with those big, baby-blue eyes that were Jax’s kryptonite. “If it gets rotted, we can can just get anudder one.”

Jax stared at the pumpkins for a long moment; his resistance was crumbling fast. I saw the exact moment he gave in. There was a resigned sigh that escaped his lips as he turned the engine off and opened the door— it was then I knew we were going home with some pumpkins.

I quickly covered my mouth to stifle the giggle that threatened to escape.

He cast a look my way. “Not a single solitary word,” he grumbled as he stepped out of the car.

“I didn’t say a word,” I whispered, my voice full of suppressed laughter.

“No, but your face did,” he chuckled, shaking his head as he walked toward the pumpkins. “I really don’t care, it’s just you know it’ll rot in this Charming heat. It’s supposed to be 86 degrees this Friday.”

“Hey,” I shrugged, “Like Mary said, we can just get anudder one.”

Jax playfully shook his fist at me, “Oh, you’ll get anudder one.”

A few minutes later, he returned, pumpkins in hand. Mary was beaming from ear to ear, holding her prize like it was the crown jewel. “Thank you, Daddy!” she chirped from the back seat, her joy radiating through the car like a disco ball of happiness.

“Welcome, lovebug,” Jax replied, his voice soft, full of that unguarded affection he saved for his kids. He turned and handed a smaller pumpkin to Thomas, who was sitting quietly in his car seat with wide, curious eyes.

“Where’s mine?” I asked, joking.

“You serious?”

“Why not?” I said. I was seriously joking, but when I saw him reaching for the door handle again, I shut my mouth and sat quietly.

“Ugh! I’ll be right back,” he said begrudgingly as he marched back to the pile of pumpkins and then to the cashier to pay for them.

On the way home, we all sat with our orange treasures, except Jax, of course, he was driving. Thomas’ was small, Mary’s was a little bit bigger, and mine was so large that it started to hurt my lap holding it all the way home.

Later that evening, I watched my little family from the doorway as they set up in the living room, pumpkins ready for carving. I snapped a few pictures with my phone, sending them off to Gemma and Donna. My phone buzzed almost immediately with their replies.

Gemma: Couldn’t tell her no, could he?

Donna: No, he couldn’t. Haha.

Me: He tried, but it didn’t work very well.

Donna: Obviously! Wrapper around her little finger.

Gemma: Well, she’s definitely a Teller, that’s for sure…

Mary beamed up at Jax as he helped her carve a cute little cat into her pumpkin, his large hands surprisingly deft with the small knife. Thomas, in his high chair, was happily scribbling all over his pumpkin with a marker, more interested in the process than the result. The sight warmed my heart, a peaceful moment amidst the chaos that usually surrounded our lives.

I sent another picture to Donna. Opie just said the same thing. Let me guess— he couldn’t tell her no? 

Donna’s reply was almost instant. But don’t let him fool you. He has a hard time telling our little girl no…

The night progressed, and after the kids were finally asleep, Jax and I found ourselves on the back patio, the cool night air wrapping around us as we passed a joint back and forth. The world was quiet except for the distant hum of motorcycles on the highway, a sound that was as familiar to me as my own heartbeat.

I started giggling, the memory of Jax’s earlier surrender to Mary’s demands replaying in my mind.

Jax glanced at me, amusement lighting up his eyes. “I said earlier— not a word from you,” he chuckled, exhaling a cloud of smoke as he passed the joint back to me.

“Don’t look at me,” I teased.

“What am I gonna do when she’s older?” he mused, half-joking, half-worried.

I leaned back in my chair, looking over at the pumpkins sitting on the porch with their little flickering lights. “When it comes down to it, you’ll be able to tell her no when it’s something important,” I replied.

Jax looked over at me and smiled. “Yeah, I guess you’re right,” he said, but there was that underlying tension in his voice, the one that came from being a father in a world as dark as ours.

But for now, we had this. Our little family, our little moments of peace. And that was enough.

Welcome in October 

The first week of October had crept up on us, bringing with it the unmistakable signs of autumn— cooler breezes, leaves beginning to turn, and, of course, the lingering smell of rotting pumpkins. I sat in my wheelchair on the back porch, looking at the once-vibrant orange pumpkins that now sagged and wilted on the steps. Their carved faces, once proud and full of life, had collapsed into wrinkled grimaces, a sad but inevitable reminder of the fleeting nature of things. And then there were the bugs…

Jax walked up beside me, hands tucked into the pockets of his hoodie, his eyes fixed on the decaying pumpkins. A crooked grin tugged at the corner of his mouth as he shook his head. “Well, they didn’t make it to Halloween,” he said, his tone light but laced with the usual Jax Teller sarcasm.

I chortled, reaching out to nudge one of the pumpkins with the tip of my foot. “Nope, didn’t even make it close,” I replied, amused at how quickly they’d gone from festive to forgotten. “You should’ve known better than to cave so early.”

Jax glared at me with that; how could you glint in his eyes? “Seriously? We’re gonna go there?”

I shrugged. “Hey, look— all I’m saying is she asked you, and you pulled the car over. It was also you that picked out the pumpkins and paid the nice man at the counter.”

He scoffed, “And let me remind you, it was you who didn’t step in and say anything during the whole conversation either.”

“You told me not to say a word.”

“What? That was— what I meant to— you know what…” Jax paused and collected his thoughts. “That’s not what I meant, darlin’.”

“I know,” I giggled, “I’m just messing with you. Maybe, I don’t know, next time, just say no?”

Jax leaned against the porch railing, the wood creaking slightly under his weight. “Yeah, you try telling that to Mary. I’ll take a rotting pumpkin over a crying kid any day.”

I laughed, knowing he was right. Mary had a way of getting what she wanted, and it was usually Jax who ended up conceding first. It was one of the many things I loved about him— his rough edges softened by the love he had for his kids. But those rotting pumpkins were now a silent reminder of how easily we were both wrapped around her little finger.

“We should get rid of these before she notices,” Jax said, nodding toward the sad remains of our September pumpkin patch. “You know it’s only a matter of time before she asks to carve more.”

I grinned, imagining the conversation that was bound to happen soon. “You know she’s going to ask the second she sees them gone, right? Then it’s straight back to the store for more pumpkins, and we’ll be doing this all over again.”

Jax let out a dramatic sigh, though the smile never left his face. “Yeah, but maybe we can hold off for a few more weeks this time—at least until we’re closer to Halloween.”

I smirked, giving him a playful side-eye. “Good luck with that.”

Jax leaned down, placing a quick kiss on my forehead. “Yeah, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he said softly.

We both stared at the pumpkins for a moment longer, sharing a comfortable silence. It was a rare thing in our world, moments like this— simple, quiet, filled with nothing but the everyday joys of being a family. I knew better than to take it for granted.

“Come on,” Jax finally said, stepping behind my wheelchair to push me toward the steps. “Let’s get rid of these things before they start attracting critters. Maybe we can convince Mary to paint the next batch instead of carving them— less mess, and they’ll last longer.”

I laughed, letting him guide me back inside. “Yeah, good luck convincing her of that. But I’m all for trying.”

As we headed inside, the scent of decaying pumpkins faded, replaced by the comforting aroma of apple pie baking in the kitchen. I couldn’t help but smile. Life in Charming was always a rollercoaster, but these little moments— the laughter, the teasing, the small victories— made it all worth it.

Since I’ve ventured into more than just Warrior Cats Art, I’ve decided to FINALLY rewrite my rules for everything!

1 Number of requests per month: 1 per month is the norm. First time requesters may get 2, but only if they’re in the same ask. If you have a second ask, I’ll reschedule it for the following month. Hello! I’m here to tell you that my brother and Brian the cat are officially back home! I have to tell you some stuff tho! I was asked (nicely) to send you a message and i almost died when i got texts from my dad yesterday, so i knew i had to let you know. Anyway just a little thing for you to read because i thought you should see it as well.

I got a text from my dad that my brother befriended the old lady that sat next to him on the plane and they discussed Desperate Housewives because he is still watching it (he isnt at Gales season yet) and the lady really liked it back when it aired. He originally mentioned Gale and was about to tell her about qaf and my dad smacked him on the head and went ‘don’t even think about it. I’m not (my name)’ (he mentioned Gale and went ‘he was on this show Queer as OW’ according to my dad. You can take a guess when my dad smacked him) So he definitely has different ways of dealing with him than I do..I wouldve let it happen and then watch in amusement for 5 hours while he has an old lady trapped with him on a plane while he talks about two dudes in love.

ALSO! They had a surprise party planned for him. And i got a video sent to me of my brother’s girls (aka the queens) and his best friends that came to wait for him at the airport. They even made him a sign (the sign said ‘welcome back Mr Wannabe Kinney’) and he was so happy. And then they all surprised him at that bar they all go to! Turns out my mom, grandma, grandpa and the queens planned a surprise welcome home party. They decorated it all with signs that based on some photos had qaf topics written on them and balloons and when he sent me a photo this morning of all of them in a group, i swear it’s the cutest shit ever. I wish you could’ve seen it but just imagine a shit ton of people where 98% are queer, a few drag queens and then in the middle a dude with a Britin shirt on that looks like he doesn’t even belong there. It’s adorable how happy they all are to have him back and I can’t wait to find out how long that lasted until he unloaded all of his qaf/gale/randy/britin knowledge on them.

And secondly, I’m a little late with this but he did text me before he boarded the plane, asking me to relay a message to you: ‘yooo tell them that I just read that last chapter while we were waiting on our flight. What a fucking ending. I actually loved it, felt good, felt nice, felt like the right time. Wish that the real show ended in a similar way. For real (my name), you’re gonna love it when you read it.’

After that I texted him your replies to my message and he immediately texted me back ‘DRAG QUEEN STORY IS NEXT?! FUCK YEAH! I CANT FUCKING WAIT!’ And then in the middle of the night (so for him around 3 am) a very lovely text followed up: ‘can you nicely ask them to tell their Hannah Montana friend that I fucking love the new story. I have so many guesses and theories how it’s gonna go and I can’t wait to be wrong cause I know it’s gonna be better. And this shit is based on how the other person’s friends met?! I have so many questions, I feel like they’re right up my ally.’ After that he spammed my phone to ask me if I’ve read both of the fics yet (i have and they’re absolutely brilliant. You guys are talented as fuck)

Today he actually called me to talk to me about your epilogue and about your friends fic. This is really how we will bond from now on, isn’t it? I did send him your little teaser of the drag queen fic and he completely lost his shit. He’s so excited and if you were nervous about writing this fic, just so you know, you got a random straight dude in your corner because he is so excited for it, it’s kinda ridiculous (not really, its actually really sweet)

Btw, about the podcast Ron and Dan were on, I’ve also never listened to their podcasts even though I knew about it. But curiosity did get the best of me so I went and checked it out. It was a pretty decent interview. I don’t think it made me hate them more or less, kinda just the same. They didn’t say anything that I would clock as bad. I did see that they might do a part 2 where they’ll answer fan’s questions so i guess we’ll see then how i feel about them.

I want to have a good amount written before I start posting to make sure I'm up to the challenge. It's hard to capture everyone's voices and balance that many moving parts. What sort of powers does Demonsoul have? Was she born with powers that she had to hone over time? Did someone teach her how to build magic? Maybe she stole magic from another person? What abilities is she strong in versus her weaknesses (like fire magic is often weak to ice and vice versa)?

(also, im curious about the M&L headcanon iceberg you made especially with Cackletta headcanons. For example, why is Cackletta starving herself? You don’t have to answer that question if you dont want to. I respect it!)

This answer might get a bit longer but I'll try my best to keep it short!

It's important to mention that Demonsoul is actually just a human like you and me. The cat-like creature you always see in my art is the form that her soul takes, all living beings in Deamy's universe have one, human souls being incredibly powerful by nature. This is where most of her powers come from!

As a soul she is able to form powerful attacks (similar to what Cackletta's Soul is capable of) as well as regenerate herself extremely quickly when wounded in battle. She can't regenerate forever though, so just like Cackletta, she will die if you don't stop fatally wounding her. Her soul form is completely overpowered (Cackletta's soul levels of overpowered) and she doesn't have any direct weaknesses, however she's a huge coward who fears confrontation and especially pain. So even though she technically has the power to wipe the entirety of Beanbean Castle Town out of existence, she's too afraid to get stabbed by Peasley in the process, even though that would basically do nothing to her.

Then there's also the fact that she's a multi eye. A multi eye is a rare anomaly in the multiverse that causes one to be able to look into different universes, predict the future, view one's past, etc. Demonsoul isn't the best multi eye, but she is able to give precise information about Fawful and Cackletta's childhood for example. It's basically just her gut feeling telling her things. She can get certain information wrong though, and she's really bad at predicting stuff from her own universe!

Now to get to the iceberg! Your question basically requires you to already have knowledge on most of the story and I obviously can't just explain EVERYTHING in just one ask, but basically...

A tragic incident involving Demonsoul has caused Cackletta to fall into a depressive state. She doesn't talk, she doesn't move, she only sleeps. She has stopped eating properly which has caused her to lose a ton of strength and most of her body weight. She knows that continuing like this will lead to her death, but she is too grief-stricken to care about that. In a way, she even welcomes the idea of her body just giving up and dying.

FAQ

What is the WIP Big Bang? Good question! This is a Big Bang with one goal in mind: to clean out your fanfic drafts folder. These are stories that were unfinished for whatever reason, that authors returned to and completed, and the art that goes with them!

Do I need a Livejournal/Dreamwidth/AO3/etc. account to participate? No! You don’t have to have an account on anything to participate, though you will need to have somewhere to post your finished work. Having one or more accounts will help for you to follow what is going on with the bang (we crosspost to Livejournal, Dreamwidth, Tumblr, and Twitter at the moment), but they are not required to participate. You can always leave comments anonymously or with an opensource ID.

How many fics can we sign up for? We absolutely don’t mind multiple sign-ups. I know one year someone submitted 50 fics to finish, and got at least half of them done. We just ask that when you sign up with more than one fic you give each fic a unique user ID (please do not use the same ID for all your fics...it’s important to have different IDs for the check-ins).

Will I get emails about the bang? We do send out some emails, mostly for snippets and art claims and to ensure communication between authors and artists, but please do NOT rely on getting an email to remind you of due dates. We currently do not keep an updated email list of participants, so we only send individual emails as needed rather than mass emails.

However, email is the fastest way to communicate with the mods. If you have any questions or are having trouble communicating with your artist/author, please do email us! We will do our best to respond quickly.

What do you mean by minimum word count to enter? This is a WIP Big Bang, therefore we ask you to have at least 500 words of your story drafted when you enter.

Can an outline count towards those first 500 words that are needed at sign up? We have admitted work on an outline before so yes, if your outline is fleshed out enough to cover a 7,500 word+ fic, we’ll allow it.

Are multi-chapter fics allowed? Yes, multi-chapter fics are allowed and even more so encouraged if your fic is lengthy.

What about fics that are already posted on ao3 in part? Do those qualify for the bang? It's okay if you have posted a few chapters of your fic already (you never know when the muse deserts you, after all), we just require you to refrain from posting more until posting begins here. All we ask is that you not post any public updates to the fic until August 1st (or July 1st with the mod’s okay). We don’t want you to lose kudos and comments so don’t worry about pulling the fic down, just hold off on updates for now.

Is there a minimum word count? 7,500 words for each finished fic, but the sky's the limit, right?

I see that the fic minimum is 7500 words and that published WIPs are acceptable - but what if the WIP I’m considering is already more than 7500 words? Is the expectation to add an additional 7500 to it? No. You can add as much or as little as you need to finish the story, though we do expect at least 1,000 or so new words if your WIP already meets the word count.

What happens if an author finishes the fic they signed up with but it’s less than 7,500 words? The intent was to go over the minimum but once they got into it the story was shorter than they thought and stretching it out would make it less good. Do they have to drop out at that point? By all means, we want your stories to feel as natural as possible, and if it’s under 7,500 words you may have two options:

1 - Drop the fic for the main BB event, post it now, and wait to post it to our AO3 collection in February when we run our International Fanworks Day celebration of finishing fics that are less than 7,500 words when finished. There’s no art for the fic, but bragging rights are posted to the communities for a week.

2 - If there are enough fics that fit that category, we can do a special day of posting the fics, but you’ll have to forgo art for the fic. I, as a mod, would probably pick September 30th for the posting day, as it’s the last day of posting for the bang and I don’t think anyone will mind more than one fic that day. You can post bragging rights to the community and share the fic with everyone.

Is there anything not allowed? As long as you wrote it and you want to finish it, you're welcome to participate. RPS/RPF is fine. Incest pairings are fine. Things like that I know have been hinted at in questions asked and as long as you tag for them, we’ll allow it. Also, canon settings with mostly OCs is allowed. We just ask that it be tagged properly with any content warnings you would deem fit and be given the appropriate rating for the level of sex/violence there is in the fic.

Original Work was not originally part of this Bang, but as there are not any current Original Fiction Big Bangs running (that we are aware of), we may revisit that next year.

I have a fic I wrote a few years ago, but only the first couple chapters are posted on AO3 because I was never happy with the rest of it and knew it needed major revision. Is that something I could use for WIP Big Bang? The entire fic has been posted, but only on one platform, and it would be rewritten for AO3 and WIPBB.

I think revising a fic for posting would work, as long as you have at least 500 words done, will have 7,500 words at a minimum when it’s done, and are planning to add more to the fic. Simply rewriting what you have would be a gray area, but if you’re going to take stuff out and add new scenes, either in the old scenes place or on your own, you should be fine.

What's the etiquette around OC-centric stories? Ones that are set in a well known fandom and use several characters, but still lean a lot on original characters? Are they discouraged, or fine?

Based on my own personal experience making art for a story that had a heavy OC presence, it’s not something we discourage at all, but be forewarned when it comes to the art accompanying your fic your artist may not be able to incorporate the OCs into your art. Not everyone makes art of a hand-drawn or digitally drawn nature, so it helps if you have people for face claims ahead of art submissions, and you and your artist communicate regularly. You can also end up with art not featuring the OCs at all, just the canon characters, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Your other options are to bring in an artist you trust with your vision of your OC/make your own art (we do allow that, we just need to be told during the check-in before art that you’re bringing in your own artist if you go that route, or that you’re doing your own art…there will not be a need to sign up in the artist’s sign up, however) or to opt-out of art entirely. So there’s plenty of options to call on when it comes time for art.

What are 'check-ins’? These are a way for us to see what you've been up to and for you to make sure you're still on track. It will give you a little nudge/reminder if you need it, but they are not compulsory. Basically a form is posted that you fill out with your user ID (unique for each fic) and a checkbox to let us know you’re still participating, plus a section for any notes for the mods.

They’re usually up for about a week, so don’t worry if you can’t check-in immediately once the forms go live.

How are the check in IDs used? They are solely for the mods organizational purposes. Each ID being for a separate story allows us to keep all the information you submit during check-ins and for snippets in one line on our spreadsheet. You don’t have to share your check in IDs with anyone else if you don’t want to.

How much progress should authors be making between each checkpoint? (Percentage-wise from our estimated total wc, I guess?) Ideally, with each check-in, you should be at least 25% closer to finishing. The end word count only really matters in that the fic needs to be at least 7,500 words when done, so it’s more your progress towards finishing that should be measured, not so much the word count.
