my heart goes out to you if you're a disabled person who has a complicated or negative relationship with sleep. if you need to sleep a lot but can't due to life circumstances, or sleeping extra causing other symptoms to flare up. if you can't sleep enough due to pain, or nightmares, or psychosis, or bipolar, or depression. if you sleep way too much and find it hard to stay awake. if you can't fall or stay asleep. if you need medication in order to be able to sleep. if you don't feel rested from sleep. if you wake up a lot in the night. if you have bladder or bowel accidents while asleep. if you twitch or convulse or move too or get injured in your sleep. if you can't control your sleep schedule no matter what. if you can't sleep during "normal" sleeping hours. if you can't sleep for 8+ hours straight but can sleep for shorter amounts of time. if sleep is what you need but for one reason or another you just can't or refuse to do it.
i care about you. your disabilities deserve to be seen and acknowledged

a moment of silence for all us disabled ones who had to watch each of their friends move on with their lives without you and get jobs, go to school, have partners come and go, get engaged and move house etc.
shout out to my fellow struggling people who are still sitting in the same bedroom they grew up in. the ones who can't get a job, can't make new friends, can't find a partner or partners, can't move house and can't go to school.
I hope one day we can all find someone to at least sit with us in our rooms. I see you and I understand... and I'm sorry we can't be that person for each other

Shen Yuan getting transported into pidw isn't "the system punishing him for being a lazy internet hater," but instead representative of "step 1 of the creative process: getting so mad at something you decide to go write your own fucking book" in this essay I will
#svsss#scum villian self saving system#shen qingqiu#shen yuan#the fact that people think scum villain#-a series that examines and criticizes common tropes in fiction-#is somehow against criticism or being a little hater is wild to me#especially since shen qingqiu never gets punished for being a hater#heck- he's still a little hater by the end of the series#he mostly gets punished for treating life like a play and like he and the people around him are characters#(or in other words- he suffers for denying his own wants and emotions and his own sense of empathy)#I think some of y'all underestimate how much writing/art is inspired by creaters being little haters#like example off the top of my head-#the author of Iron Widow has been pretty vocal about the book being inspired by their hatred of Darling in the Franxx#I think my interpretation of Shen Yuan's transmigration is also supported by the fact that this series is an examines writing processes#side note- though i understand why people say Shen Yuan is lazy and think its a valid take it still doesnt sit right with me#i am probably biased because my own experiences with chronic pain and depression and isolation#but ya- i dont think Shen Yuan is lazy so much as he is deeply lonely and feels purposeless after denying parts of himself for 20ish years#like yall remember the online fandom boom from covid right?#being stuck completely alone in bed while feeling like shit for 20 days straight does shit to your brain#the fact that no one came to check on him + he wasn't exactly upset about leaving anyone behind supports the isolation interpretation too#+in the skinner demon arc he describes his life of being a faker/inability to stop being a faker now that he's Shen Qingqiu#as “so bland he's tempted to throw salt on himself” and “all he could do is lay around and wait for death” (<-paraphrasing)#bro wants to be doing stuff but is stuck in paralysis from repeatedly following scrips made by other people#another point on “Shen Yuan isn’t lazy” is just the sheer amount of studying that man does#also he did graduate college- how lazy can he really be#he doesnt know what hes doing but he at least tries to actively train his students#and he actually works on improving his own cultivation + spends quite a bit of time preping the mushroom body thing#+he's experiencing bouts of debilitating chronic pain throughout all this#but ya tldr: Shen Yuan's transmigration is an encouragement to write and not a punishment and also i dont think its fair to call him lazy

hi disabled friends. here's list of minimal things you can do to increase your hygiene & comfort today, if possible ♡
put on at least 1 clean(er) article of clothing (ex: underwear)
brush your hair
rub your teeth with a towel
rinse your mouth with water
splash your face with water
grab a clean(er) blanket
flip your pillowcase to the side you haven't been using
change your posture, stretch
put on a gentle light, or draw the curtains
allow yourself at least a few minutes in a quiet environment
put on some soft background noise (ex: ambient sound, lofi)
try to pick out some pleasant sensory input (ex: birds chirping, how soft your clothes/blanket is)
and if you cant do any of these, dont guilt yourself. disability isnt a failing, and you're doing the best you can!
(yes, this post includes chronically ill and neurodivergent people! you're disabled too!)

Sometimes gaining weight is what progress looks like.
Sometimes going out less often is what progress looks like.
Sometimes wearing looser and less fashionable clothes is what progress looks like.
Sometimes using a mobility aid more often is what progress looks like.
Sometimes cancelling plans is what progress looks like.
Sometimes its not about what we think progress looks like. Sometimes you just ask the person and trust what they say.

SUMMONING ALL DISABLED PEOPLE
Public service announcement
As spooky season starts to ramp up. If you're on medication DO NOT DRINK THE BLACK DRINKS OR FOOD without checking the ingredients.
Charcoal is used as an "all natural" food dye and can make your meds not work as well.
DON'T CONSUME THE BLACK PRODUCTS WITHOUT CHECKING INGREDIENTS FIRST.

its important to remember that long term chronic pain rewires your brain so even after you find a treatment plan that relieves some or all of that pain, you're still gonna have days where you wanna tear all your hair out.
it might feel like it's for no reason! but its cos your brain has new highways in it and traffic still goes thru there whether it makes sense or not
if you're having a bad day, just let your body have a break. Don't try to rationalize it cos the conclusion you might come to is 'wow even with treatment I'm useless' and that's always bad. If your brain and body are telling you "I Can't Do That Right Now", even if you can't figure out the reason, just listen

anyone suffering from headaches or migraines, do try this playlist. i always knew about frequency music but never tried it out, and what a loss! i wish i had tried it out sooner since i suffer from headaches every day, but the music truly calmed my senses, and i feel a lot better today than i usually do. i hope it helps you too. also, please seek help from a professional, if you can. you deserve a life full of peace, not pain.
[kindly reblog and help a soul out. headaches are terrible and painful, and i hope no one has to go through them every single second of their life]

Age Regression takes many forms.
Extra big shoutout and lots of love to my regressors who don’t have ’typical, active’ pastimes while regressed.
The regressors who don’t crawl on the floor with their toys because they have chronic pain
The trauma regressors who are burnt out by their regression
Littles with sleep disorders, disabilities, or other circumstances that leave them always too tired to play
Littles who live in hostile situations that prevent them from feeling safe enough to enjoy activities
Regressors who have allergies, autoimmune, ED, digestive problems, or other conditions that prevent them from having typical ‘kid snacks’
Littles with depression, primarily impure regression, have tantrums, or other emotional dysregulation that makes them unhappy when regressed
Physically disabled regressors who can’t run around outside and/or don’t have accessible park equipment
Neurodivergent Littles who find certain play and activities uncomfortable for whatever reason
Regressors who struggle with psychosis, delusions, or intrusive thoughts—especially scary ones
Littles who are frequently hospitalized, have to undergo procedures, and/or take medications that make regression difficult
Regressors who can’t afford to buy gear
Littled with disabilities, chronic pain or illness, and autoimmune disorders that leave them constantly feeling sick
Whether it’s due to a disability, chronic pain, depression, living situations, etc, regression is different for everyone, and that should be recognized. Whatever it is, your regression is valid and important. You are welcome here and you are a valued me ever of the community, even if your little space doesn’t look the same as someone else’s. So much of agere is advertised around things like playing with toys, going to the park, having snacks, etc. But that’s not how regression works for everyone, and their experiences shouldn’t be erased because they aren’t a certain ‘aesthetic.’
In fact, you’re really awesome, brave, and strong—and I’m proud of you! Keep on regressing, everyone!

if you are a disabled person of any severity and can make it through a grocery shopping trip, i am proud of you and look up to you. if you can't make it through a grocery shopping trip for whatever reason, pain, anxiety, psychosis, ADHD, autism, depression, memory or attention issues, fatigue, exhaustion, irritability, confusion, dissociation, or anything else, you have my condolences because i'm right there with you, that shit sucks ass. it's needlessly complicated and its something that abled people take for granted
of course disabled people cant go across the entire store to put an item back every time. of course disabled people may need help getting items from high or low places. of course disabled people will get lost even in labeled places because of object blindness, blindness/eye problems, bad attention span, anxiety, or other issues, of course there are who can't make it through the entire store without collapsing
these stores are designed to confuse customers and trap them inside for as long as possible to increase impulse spending, of course disabled people are going to struggle to navigate the store. i love you if you're disabled and can navigate the store, kudos to you, but i also love you if you can't. it's not easy and people take for granted how easy it is for them when others can't do it at all

Genuinely one of the best things you can do for your chronically ill loved one in a flare is feed them. Cook for them, bring them food, heat up leftovers for them. Seriously, I think food is something that's just so deeply rooted in care and comfort. It's hard to feed ourselves when we're hurting or fatigued or weak, and especially hard when it couples with depression.
It meanwhile so much to be given food when you're struggling.

I think something we should talk about more in the chronic illness, mental health, and disability communities is the feelings of fear wrapped around high spoons days. It really is okay to feel nervous when you’re feeling good (even for just an hour). It doesn’t mean you’re broken or wrongs m. It’s okay to take your time learning what routines serve you best at different energy and pain levels. it’s okay to learn not to push yourself too far. It’s okay to acknowledge feelings of anxiety or fear or bittersweetness over really good moments. It’s okay 💜

just wanna thank the universe for tonight's sobriety. i feel like a person again. i'm a person with trauma, psychosis, depression, anxiety, chronic pain & fatigue... but i'm still a person. i'm still a person and i don't need to drink and drug away my life, my soul. whether i relapse again or not doesn't change that.
my future self could try all they want to erase my humanity, in a desperate attempt to see my ego as the sole cumulation of all i am... but that will always be wrong. that will always be sickly, deadly, and unnecessary suffering. that will always be far less than i deserve.
i am sober tonight. i hope i'm sober a minute from now, an hour from now, a day from now. i hope i feel that way every day i have left on this earth, however many or little that is. i'm a person. a whole world exists inside me and for tonight, in this moment, that world gets to simply be. exactly as it exists right now, pain and hardship and all.
and it's beautiful. hold on, pain ends. h.o.p.e. i love you all.
