ok i watched the rest of grimm kumikyoku; it was ok? i'd say the complete stinkers were eps 1 n 2; ep 6 had a wild ending but everything that happened before it was pretty uncomfortable

3 n 4 were the stories i liked the most

ep 3 having a more fun tone (+ cool grandma) was nice bc the 1st ep had no happiness n the 2nd was just a gorey "red riding hood is the murderer" twist in a sci-fi setting. speaking of twists it felt like ep 3 remixed the premise in a much more interesting way than 1 n 2; but i didn't rlly get the twist that there was only 1 kid the whole time?

ep 4 didn't have a happy ending but it felt meaningful imo (tho some of the dialogue in that one was like wooooaaah please don't say that)

ep 5 had a buff lady (in a trio-later-quartet of women/girls) who beat ppl up n a happy ending were they decide to work at a tavern yaaaaay women. i think i saw them before, actually.......

the teacher in ep 6 is soooooo creepy..... i started hoping he would die. he does get kicked in the face but he survives boooo. i only liked the end where everything looks super cool n the twist happens

interesting note: it took me a bit to realize it but the 3 characters (the grimms i'm assuming idgaf) in the beginning of each ep end up playing different characters in the stories. the brothers are pretty easy to notice bc their designs tend to stay the same, but the sister's design always changes. you can still tell it's her bc she'll have red/red-ish hair and green eyes

This is totally a rant post bcs I don't have a sane voice of reason in my life that I can go to for advice :) this is just me having strange "friends"

So yeah, if u didn't know I just graduated hs and yeah, teenagers can be pretty crazy. Most of these freinds I've had since young or early high school and they've been my "close freinds" the past couple of years. Ofc my fam loves them and all hence why I don't feel comfortable talking abt this to them, bcs they'll say I'm overreacting, which maybe I'm am 💀 I just can't take much more of this.

Anyways, it's not that I don't get a long with them, it's just I never rlly had much in common with them. Over the summer they all really want to go to concerts, festivals, ect ect together. I was on the fence abt these things bcs I often have anxiety attacks in crowded places, but I decided that maybe I'd go to one or something. Yeah no, for the concert they were trying to get me to go to it was abt 200 buck and I wasn't abt to pay that much just to have a miserable time. Ofc they were upset abt it but I felt embarrassed and didn't want to explain that I didn't want to go bcs of anxiety (which was on me tbh) but this is only one example but it rlly made me think that it's just not worth it to hang out with them?

I also got added to a snap group, with them in it and they were sending a bunch of vids hanging out. i’ve been rewatching a lot of powerpuff girls episodes like i’m honestly determined to watch every episode at this point bc i got sucked in when i was only watching like one or two LOL and boy i have THOUGHTS. for some reason i hardly remember any of these episodes even tho ik i’ve seen them all a bunch of times on boomerang so it’s felt like i’m watching them for the first time with my adult lens. i love all 3 of the main girls they are rlly interesting characters and what i love abt the show is how they balance back and forth between all this crime fighting shit and the girls just living normal lives as preschoolers or whatever bc it can def feel like a slice of life show sometimes in those more laid back episodes not that the superhero shit isn’t fun to watch too bc it is!!!! it reminds me of jimmy neutron a bit how jimmy will have to save the day and shit but he still acts like a normal kid with normal kid problems at the end of the day bc powerpuff girls has that same feel to it which i like where the girls still will act like normal toddlers or whatever and it’s cute & endearing af. ok i’m just gonna flat out say it idk if this is an unpopular opinion or not but blossom is my fav character she’s definitely way more interesting and nuanced than the other two girls while bubbles and buttercup are more one dimensional bc bubbles is just the sweet one and buttercup is the mean one LOL. i like blossom bc she has the traits of both her sisters combined but she’s more balanced out so she can have good chemistry in scenes with either sister whether she agrees with bubbles on something or with buttercup on something. bc blossom knows how to be nice like bubbles in some situations and in other situations she’s more snobby and mean like buttercup. which makes her a good leader too bc of her being complex like that and understanding both sisters. but she’s also flawed too bc she can be stuck up and bossy and vain at times but it makes her interesting imo. bubbles is prob my second fav like she’s cute af and relatable too bc she’s super sweet until u cross her and then she’s like scary and dangerous af LOL. and then when we’re looking at the villains of the show that’s a whole different story LMAO. i still have a lot of episodes to go to fully form an opinion on this but HIM is def the breakout villain in the show by FAR. ik mojo jojo is considered like the main villain or whatever but HIM is way more intimidating and you’re like oh fuck whenever he shows up. mojo jojo is hardly that threatening he’s honestly more of just a punchline and u always know the girls are gonna take him down right away by just punching him LOL. whenever HIM shows up it feels like there’s way more at stake so imo he’s the real true #1 villain of the show. mojo jojo is basically darth vader while HIM is emperor palpatine. also princess is the most annoying character ever don’t @ me. i’ve always been a nickelodeon hoe and not a CN hoe but powerpuff girls will always be one of my top 5 shows on CN bc the writing and humor and animation and shit is pretty on par with some of Nick’s greatest stuff. also with tom kenny voicing everyone like he does in spongebob too it gives the show that perfect comedic feel to it that’s nostalgic of early 2000s cartoons. i love craig mccracken’s style bc FHFIF is also one of my favs too for similar reasons.

okay I have way too many thoughts about sab season 2 so here goes *deep breath*

on the "main storyline" side: as someone who hasn't read the sab books but has read soc duology, I rlly liked alina's storyline this season and thought it was decently paced for how few episodes there were. i loved mal and nikolai being friends and not having a random awful love triangle and that alina didn't love nikolai except for platonically! made sense.

baghra kicked ass and ben was again amazing as the d*rkling. loved seeing alinas struggle and his side even though i hate him, because we got to see genya. (SIDE NOTE GENYADAVID WRECKED ME.)

mal being sturmhond was actually a nice twist imo. the twins ROCK and i love tamar and nadia sm. adrik too he's so cute.

on the crows side: even though i adore the crows (and there were zero faults with the cast's performances, as usual), i found myself a little disappointed with some of the writing. some decisions to put book scenes in early made sense (MORE SENSE THAN SOME OF YOU WILL GIVE THEM CREDIT FOR, considering they want to feed us crumbs IF the show gets cancelled), but generally it was disorienting to see the ck plotline, or at least part of it.

i think that the one great thing abt the ck plotline is that it opens up new implications for matthias and pekka's motives, both towards each other and towards kaz, and i love that idea. it's something i'm the most excited for, honestly.

kaz's backstory was well-done and well-acted by jordie, young kaz, and current kaz! freddy continues to be an absolute superstar and one of my favorites in the cast. one thing about kaz, tho: i HATED that the dregs weren't already his crew...like girl who tf is running the crow club. kaz is older in this iteration but not by THAT MUCH...anyways i do think it'll provide basis for the big bolliger/not trusting kaz scene at the beginning of the real soc plot but i still didn't like it.

the other major thing i hated was how rushed wesper was (this one is pretty obvious), but let me also volunteer this: it made sense. of the crows, they have the least traumatic relationship (even tho they have personal traumas yk), and because we can't guarantee that the show will get a spinoff, SOMEONE has to end up happy. thus, no slow burn. annoyed about it, but it's not unreasonable + i adore jack and kit together.

kaNEJ THIS SEASON OMG. the scene in the chapel at the end of the season...wow. i thought it was superbly done and made sense in the storyline of the show, despite being from the books. yes, they had some slightly rushed moments, but again, no guarantees for another season. also this means they're probably planning even more development for a spinoff!!

helnik...cal and dani blow me away even when they're not together?? how do they do that?? amazing. i loved the tension; it was just like the books.

jesper's powers becoming stronger after he hallucinates aditi were a nice touch imo. when colm comes around he'll have to reckon with himself even more now, so that's actually interesting + good setup. he was amazing in episode seven!!!

INEJ SAVING ALINA AGAIN. the implications it has for her religious beliefs are so wow. also, her looking for slavers with sturmhond (MAL!) and the crew is great bc we'll see her again, but it also gives her a minor amount of closure. not full closure, but enough to keep fans wanting to see her again.

on a general note: my favorite episodes were five and seven. i thought five did character interactions super well (specifically nina/kaz and kanej), and seven brought the characters from both storylines together in a way that was, imo, better than last season. also, in episode eight: ALINA USING THE DARK CUT ON THE PAREM SOLDIER?? WOWOWOWW I LOVE THAT I'M SO EXCITED. people will be mad kaz knew about parem before van eck told him but my guess is that the van eck kidnapping stuff DID happen and we just didn't see it yet (wait for spinoff!!)

i'll definitely have to write more posts as it settles in, but yeah...that's the gist of it lol. basically: i will always be a show defender, even if there's clumsy writing and some hamfisting!! i love that damn show!! i am really excited to see them again (praying for a spinoff) and i loved the way the season ended tbh.

i talked about this with tsun (ty tsun dearest 🫶) so shoutout to him for bringing up many good points about this!! like how having hakuno being described in food terms gives her a very home-y comforting feeling which contrasts with her more aloof and rational personality /though she does become warmer with character development ✨️

makes me also think about sweets in particular too (duh) anfmd how even though they Are nice, they lack any nutritional value and won't fill your stomach up. reminds me of hakuno who wants to find love and connection but still feels so empty and lacking </3 (this is also a really fitting concept outside of colors or w/e because hakuno does like candy !)

not 2 mention how too much sweets is detrimental to your health ...... just like hakuno who (really has nothing good intentions but) often takes things to the extreme (e.g. selfless to the point of self destruction, she's a very "ride or die" kind of person, etc)

tsun also brought up how it reminded him of fairy tales (being desirable and appealing in that ✨️magical✨️ kind of way; and i like to think that hakuno looks very ethereal) (which is also nice because that contrasts with hakuno's desires to just be a normal human) and witch's house from hansel and gretel with how it looks very cute and sweet but the inside is . A Lot

hakuno's not blatantly deceptive like that thoo!!!! tsun (gigabrain) says it best with how hakuno's not the witch, she's more like the empty house, a waiting table. the idea of food comes here again too because hakuno's a very giving person 🥺 there's a lot she wants to give !!

OOOOHH and the sweets thing can come here ^ again too tho. it's how that sweet thing ultimately lacks any real substance </3

hakuno being described as like a doll from a fairy tale would be a really neat + fitting description for her tooo because 1. H..Hakuno Pretty,, 😳 bUT ALSO 2. it gives her this very otherworldly (not human) feel ..... which is all nice and pretty but Distant in a way

that's also why i like the way extra materials use 美形 (bikei) to describe hakuno because while it does translate to "beauty", the direct translation would be "beautiful form/shape". it could be unintentional word choice, but'd like to think it's because hakuno is more like object to be admired (here's that doll motif again !!!) than a legitimate person, if that makes sense :thonk:

since we're on this topic anyway-- my hakuno's hair turns from brown to white at the tips. it's inspired by what happens to sakura in ccc canon! a symptom of "deteoration"/"corrosion" due to being shaken up by an unidentified emotion-value (love) ... so methinks hakuno should get it too as someone who's actively trying to better find herself and understand her emotions and humanity 💖 (her hair's not gonna turn fully white, but i just think it'd be a neat reference)

it's a stretch ngl but it could also be neat if the white and curled tips of her hair gave the impression of seafoam maybe............. it rlly would suit her name toooo (白野岸波 meaning "white fields, shore waves")
