BASED ON EVERYTHING SAID BY ONE OR MORE OF THE ABUSERS DURING THE COURSE OF THIS CAMPAIGN OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS I DO NOT KNOW BUT STRONGLY SUSPECT NOW THAT SOMETHING IS BEING DONE, ADDED TO TOOTHPASTE OR MOUTHWASH TO CAUSE A PERSONS TEETH TO BECOME LOOSER OR FALL OUT.  THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A FEW PEOPLE AND I KNOW THEY ARE DOING THIS SAME TERRORISM PLAN TO SEVERAL PEOPLE AT THIS TIME.  THEY HAVE SEVERAL STALKERS STALKING PEOPLE, BREAKING INTO HOUSES, SPYING ON THEM TO LEARN PASSWORDS, PASSCODES AND THAT WOULD ENABLE THEM TO GET INTO THEIR SUBJECTS RESIDENCE UNKNOWN TO THE OWNERS.  FURTHERMORE, I SUSPECT THAT GAS IS USED TO CAUSE ANY PERSON INSIDE TO EITHER FALL ASLEEP OR TO BE IN A DEEP ENOUGH STATE OF SLEEP THAT THE ABUSERS HAVE A REASONABLE EXPECTATION ANYONE INSIDE WILL NOT WAKE UP.  I DO NOT KNOW BUT AM WONDERING IF THEN THEY HAVE A DENTIST EXTRACT A TOOTH AND, IF POSSIBLE, REPLACE IT WITH A FAKE TOOTH THAT IS PROBABLY JUST QUICKLY AND EASILY INSERTED IN ITS PLACE AND THEN A DAY OR TWO LATER ALL OF A SUDDEN THE FAKE TOOTH  CRACKS, CRUMBLES AND FALLS OUT.  THIS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO AND I COULD SEE NO REASON FOR IT.  THE TOOTH JUST LITERALLY CRUMBLED AND FELL APART AND IN RETROSPECT DID LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED IT TO LOOK.  THERE IS/WAS NO REASON FOR THIS AND OTHER THAN THE LAST YEAR IT NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.  I STRONGLY SUSPECT THAT THE ABUSERS IN ALL THEIR WISDOM WOULD RESPOND WITH SOMETHING STUPID LIKE WELL, IF THEY EVER DID THIS OR THAT THAT COULD BE THE REASON WHY.

I WONDERED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE BASED ON WHAT WAS SAID DURING THE HARASSMENT OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS I STRONGLY SUSPECT THAT THE ABUSERS HAVE SOME SORT OF PLAN TO HAVE SOMEONE MADE UP TO LOOK LIKE THEIR SUBJECT AND TRY TO PASS THAT PERSON OFF AS THE REAL PERSON AND THEN HAVE THEM DO BANKING OR TRANSACT BUSINESS IN THEIR NAME.  I COULD ONLY SEE THIS HAPPENENING IF THE PERSON JUST PASSED AWAY OR IF THEY DIRECTED THEIR TERRORISM AT SUCH A PERSON IN AN AGGRESSIVE WAY TO RUN THEM DOWN, BEHIND AND HOPE TO DIRECT SOME SORT OF ECONOMIC ESPIONAGE AT THAT PERSON OR TRY TO TAKE DOWN A PERSONS BUSINESS OR, AND I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TERRORISM, SOMEONE HAVING THE AUDACITY TO TRY TO HIDE A PERSONS DEATH, IF POSSIBLE, AND HAVE SOMEONE ELSE RUNNING AROUND PRETENDING TO BE THEM.  IT SEEMS LIKE A LONG SHOT TO ME BUT I WONDER IF ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED BEFORE?  IF THEY COULD GET SOME OF THEIR SUBJECTS TEETH INTACT AND IMPLANT THEM IN THE IMPOSTERS MOUTH WITH THE REST OF THE TEETH BEING VENEERS OR SOMETHING ELSE I WONDER IF THEY COULD HOPE TO GET AWAY WITH IT?

I feel like comic writers and some fans have forgotten that Young Justice is mostly about the girls. The main storylines were about Secret/Greta, Cissie, and Anita. For once I actually went through the Arcane AMA and found those quotes about Silco's motivation. It's kind of wild to see it in full context.

First, I didn't even know the "dirty little thing" insecurity was an agreed upon perspective, I just thought it was one writer's opinion but no, Christian Linke (Praeco) let us know that was Silco's thing. Ok. I can see how that can tie in to how Silco and Jinx connected, personal insecurities from a hard life.

But then Amanda Overton (leeloo104) goes into detail.

I already know the creative team said they don't think political struggle is "relatable" (yikes), but I've never seen this extra tidbit before!

What do you mean this all so Vander will respect Silco again?!!??!? First of all I could really go in about how Arcane's team seem incapable of having any character fully articulate an actual in-depth explanation about on their grievances with the status quo and what changes should be applied that isn't somehow about familial validation. *looks at Jinx*

Instead, we need unpack how this motivation is at best, very weird, or flat out doesn't make sense. The quote makes it sound like Zaun was fully Silco's idea to win back Vander's love and respect, but Silco said a free Zaun was their shared dream. And regaining Vander's respect seems like a moot point when Silco killed Vander.

Unless Silco knows Vander isn't dead, and that Singed's been slowly turning Vander into Warwick. But then why does he talk to the Vander statue like Vander is dead? I don't doubt Silco wouldn't visit Warwick even in Warwick's confused state. Either way, the Vander that Silco wanted to receive validation from doesn't exist anymore.

I get that they probably wanted to connect Silco's motivation to Jinx's obsession with Vi, but that can be problematic too! It just ends up where Silco and Jinx are written in a way where their search for emotional validation takes precedence over any attempt for them to communicate a coherent and detailed observation on the surrounding politics of their environment.

It would be one thing if they were minor characters, or this was just related to Jinx because she's the youngest in the cast and her story is about understanding who she is. But it's both of them, Silco's at least in his forties, and they're a part of the main cast. On top of that, I'd say their the two most politically influential Zaunites in the cast, and we know NOTHING about what they stand for, what they think the future should look like. Nothing, just vibes.

I recently had a conversation with a friend that made me realise that (maybe) people might not know that the Italian mafia still exists and actively operates all over Italy. Like, the general international public has this old-timey idea of the mafia that stops at the 1950s, with Al Capone, seedy bars, car chases with tommy guns etc. etc. or at least that seems to be the case for the people who don’t live in Europe, or otherwise close to Italy.

So, I made this poll. DISCLAIMER: this poll is NOT so i could judge people in any way. I can’t really fault anyone for not knowing about a problem so tied to Italian soil and culture, I was just curious.

NOTE: I’m not making a distinction between the actual Mafia, Camorra, Ndrangheta etc. etc. just pretend that all Italian organized crime is one big thing for the sake of this poll.

if westeros was created to reflect our modern society instead of being loosely based off of western medieval society, then i think people would understand that these political marriages are for alliances, not love, and would agree that the modern lower class sentiments towards marriage are simply not applicable to these arrangements and both bride and groom cannot and should not expect love from their partner.

if our story occurred in a modern westeros very similar to our own modern society, then a lot of the obstacles our characters face would not happen because, simply put, modern society benefits from equality.

as an example, i am quite (100%) certain that the introduction of gender equality and other modern values and advancements to westeros would only be beneficial to rhaegar and elia, which means that this ideology benefits westerosi society on an individual level.

so, in this modern westeros au, if rhaegar and elia still married for a political alliance, and then had two children like they did in asoiaf, they could then peacefully divorce and write out a contract that secures both rhaenys and aegons inheritances. if lyanna and rhaegar met and fell in love while rhaegar and elia were married then the misunderstanding that sparked a war would never have happened. why? because lyanna would have a say in who she marries in this modern au. also, elia would have possibly been seeing others as well. why? because this was a political marriage and love shouldn’t be expected, so why would anyone be concerned about either party finding love outside of their marriage? plus modern westeros would have dna testing so there’s no reason to question the paternity of their children.

also, if elia had a child with someone else (in this hypothetical scenario, perhaps her lover died) and rhaegar decided to claim that child as his own while knowing that he’s not the real father in order to give this child a better life, then this wouldn’t be a problem either. why? because rhaegar’s in the know. (i’m only bringing this up bc of the rhaenyra and laenor situation. guys… laenor is perfectly aware that biologically those kids aren’t his, yet he still claimed them and loved them bc he and rhaenyra had an agreement. i do not understand why real ppl are even concerned about jace, luke, and joffs parentage. in the eyes of the law those boys are legally laenors.)

however, since asoiaf isn’t based off of our modern society and is instead a society riddled with misogyny, xenophobia and other social issues without the progress and advancements that we in the 21st century have benefited from, i will concede one thing to these antis who harp on and on about how selfish rhaenyra and rhaegar were for loving someone who wasn’t their spouse and for having a child(ren) out of wedlock.

because yes, rhaegar and lyanna’s love can be considered an act of selfishness, and rhaenyra loving harwin and having children with him can also be considered selfish.

but guess what? love in general is a very selfish state of being. you are prioritizing your partner and your desires over everything and everyone else in your life.

one of the greatest love stories of all time, romeo and juliet, is a tale of two selfish lovers who seek to be together despite the immense hatred between their families. selfless and dutiful children would never love an enemy. and yet, despite romeo and juliet’s love story ending in tragedy, no one would ever argue that these two lovers were in the wrong for simply trying to be together even though their love caused their families great grief. why? because the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets was stupid. and the story ends with the characters agreeing that this feud went on for long enough and acknowledging the fact that this petty feud between the families was the cause of their misery and the tragedy that befell them.

though the circumstances of all three love stories are different, it’s undeniable that these lovers were selfish for prioritizing their own desires over their duties to their houses.

to end this little spiel, i’d like to mention that the reason i first brought up a modern au was to remind people that the only reason rhaelya and rhaenyra’s relationship with harwin can be so decisively called selfish is because these characters live in westeros. and westeros is a fucked up society rooted in systematic oppression, violence, and abuse and other forms of exploitation in order to further the agenda of the powerful despite the harm it causes. any modern comforts and progressive ideas hinder the control the patriarchs have over their families and put a name to the bigotry expressed against these unconventional relationships. so yes, their love is selfish because being unconventional in such a backwards society is a recipe for disaster, especially since both of these relationships hinge on a woman deciding to take control of her sexual autonomy, which is a big no no in westeros since a woman’s body only belongs to her father and husband. so yes, these love stories are selfish because these characters are prioritizing themselves in a society that benefits from them losing their autonomy and harms them and their loved ones when they try to take back their autonomy.

to finish off, the reason i brought up the tragic love story of romeo and juliet is to remind people that even though rhaegar and lyanna’s love was selfish, other characters still need to be held accountable for their actions that helped to escalate this misunderstanding into a tragedy that consumed all of westeros.

OK, I agree with Clark and I know I shouldn't find this endearing! But Bruce is so pathetic, it's funny and kind of cute. He is going through the same shit he went through when Dick made the Titans: he is afraid of losing them. Cass isn't his daughter, he hasn't adopted her yet, but he sees her as his daughter, he wants her to be his daughter. But she is already old enough to not need him, and that terrifies him. And, if she gets a boyfriend, he will not see her anymore (in his mind). It's a bit like how he resented Kory when Dick dated her, and said it wouldn't last, because Dick was always with her, going to space with her, and so, away from him.

He is not good at letting his kids grow up. He loves them and he doesn't know how to show it, so he keeps it inside, and the idea they will leave and he didn't have the time to show his love is terrifying. Also, Bruce knows he is far from a healthy man or great to be around, so he thinks his kids will never want to be around him again.
