There are many reasons why we may take things personally and these can include, for example: being often tired, stressed, overwhelmed (or being in a heavy environment); being an highly sensitive person; having been harshly criticized and blamed as a child, and lacked emotional support; having low self esteem, constantly using negative self talk and holding onto negative and unhealthy self beliefs (eg. feeling guilty for everything or not good enough); having social anxiety or fearing being judged or feeling embarassed (or fearing embarassing yourself in front of others); struggling with perfectionism...

Taking things personally is a self defense mechanism also used to cope with the pain you may have/had to go through (and may re-live everytime someone says something that may hurt you in the same way as you were in your past). From your mind and body's point of view, you're just defending yourself and that's understandable, but if you take a closer look, you'll see you're also giving others the power to decide who you are and hurt you again and again. Take back your own power, and be sure of the person you are despite all that happened. People cannot see your whole true self, they often judge you based on personal opinions or after projecting onto yourself. Know who you are and let all their words slid, if they are really of no use to you (but "critiques" at times are not evil, they can be useful too, especially if done in the right way: it's worth at least listening to them before deciding if they can be useful to us or not).

Bisan is calling for another global strike!

I saw some posts just outlining Jan 21st, and wanted to clarify that Bisan has called for a full seven days of action.

What a global strike would look like is:

calling in sick to work

purchasing bare essentials ahead of the week so you can observe the general boycott of goods / buying as little as you genuinely can

putting in a concerted effort to elevate Palestinian voices and make it clear that this strike is in support of a permanent ceasefire!

For those who will have to purchase necessary goods during this time, please observe the brands that the BDS movement is asking us to boycott!

One of the reasons why I love Steddie is how sweet Eddie was with Steve in the forest scene. That’s what got me into this ship. It was nice to see someone being patient and kind to Steve like that and it coming from someone like Eddie who viewed Steve so differently means a lot.

I loved how he told him how much Dustin looks up to him, making Steve smile and even after that wanting to joke around a little to make Steve laugh as well.

It was such a nice change, because all the other scenes we just see him bickering with someone or people making him seem stupid when he asks questions. Eddie didn’t make fun of him for not knowing Ozzy like he probably would have prior to things and instead let it be and called Steve cool. I love them.

Edit since a lot of people seem confused - your "real" name is the name that you want to be referred to in real life. It doesn't have to be your legal name. So if you're trans and you have a different name to whats on your birth certificate, even if not many people call you by the name, it still counts as your real name.

It's good and cool to give your characters a single simple, straightforward, non-urgent, super-achievable goal that shouldn't really cost anything or hurt anyone, make that the driving factor for most of their decisions, and then have the Plot do everything in its power to stop them.
