sometimes you really do have to let go what you want to do at least for the moment, not because you don’t deserve it or you are not allowed to have it, but because you have too much on your plate & your peace is more worth keeping than the overwhelm of achieving everything now.

Work Task Management Apps?
I recently started working as an admin specialist in an office setting. My prior experience was in retail or delivery driving jobs. I have to say, it's a different world now! My day-to-day role is mostly communications, data entry & management, and a bit of event planning. I enjoy the work a lot; it really feels meaningful to me! And I can totally see the potential for personal & professional growth. My colleagues have been generally supportive, and the office vibe feels positive.
I've noticed, however, that the workload sometimes gets a bit overwhelming. There are oftentimes instances where I'm working on one project or task, but get interrupted by another. And I've found, within myself, that the prioritization of tasks has been challenging. And it's sometimes resulted in an important task being accidentally neglected by me.
I could chalk it up to this being my first white-collar office position. I could blame my as-yet-undiagnosed/self-diagnosed ADHD. But the point is I've made up my mind that I want to work at my task management skills in order to set myself up for success in the workplace. My colleagues tell me "you gotta do your thing in the way that works for you." Well, that's great and all. But I'm still trying to figure out what that way is for me.
I feel like I've never dedicated as much energy to bettering myself or my work as I have now. Maybe that's because there are direct parallels between this job and my ultimate career aspiration. I'm really trying to market myself as an Information Professional. This covers a lot of ground. I'm really interested in libraries/archives/records/museum management. Data analysis. Investigative research. Cultural heritage informatics. A Master's/MLIS degree is likely in my future.
But I've got a long way to go. And grad school is expensive. So, for now, I'm focusing on honing relevant skills that will help me move up. And that includes getting the right tools in my toolkit. I recently downloaded Monday, but I'm not sure whether it's the right one for me. It's more geared toward team projects, where I'm just looking for personal task management support. Got any recommendations?

༻`` 19 May 24 — Sunday 45/60
🧡 academia >> I studied for 1hr 55mins and counting, I've got 2 more booklets left to cover and I'm finished revising the content for AS2 chemsitry. I didn't meet the goals I wrote for myself today but I'm really proud of the work I did nonetheless
🧡 physical health >> I did some pushups and tricep curls plus ran a bit with one of my dogs
🧡 self care >> I didn't eat any ice cream today (been stuffing my face with them recently) and ate despite being hungry but with absolutely no appetite. I've also gotta fix my screen time because it's still insanely high
☀️ 8.20 ish (I moved my alarm every 20 mins for over an hour..)
30 Day New Year Momentum 5/100
What methods do you find best for managing tasks?
I'm still not great at this. I've had a note sitting on my desk for 3 days now with a task I really need to get done but haven't (same with a note from about half a year ago....). But generally writing it down helps a lot!
Sometimes long lists can be overwhelming and having just 1 big thing written can be like 'Where do I even start?' and the action paralysis kicks in. The best thing I found is having something in between. Tackling 1 big section of the task you need to do at a time. That and also just doing it which is the hardest thing in the world but sometimes the momentum can keep you going until the task is fully finished.
