Yk when i was making above a living wage and had enough money to cover all my necessities to live plus a little extra to save for the future and do my silly little hobbies, my mental health was great, i was making art and i felt a general positivity towards my fellow humans and my role in society
But now with inflation and the housing crisis, im working solely to pay my landlords mortgage and suddenly i kind of fucking hate my job and every single person i meet isnt that funny how that works
#literally in the last idk year or year and a half#the economy has literally taken almost everything from me#the theft of my wage to pay everyone else's bills has also robbed me of my feeling of security#and thus my joy#and thus my ability to create and follow my passions#and thus my reason to continue to participate in society#which is not something you want to take from people#not to mention my coworkers making significantly more than me and then complaining to me about their cost of living#and how owning your own home isnt as rewarding as it seems cuz they have a mortgage#like ok but you also have two sources of income and can afford two children and a car#i literally could not afford a child if i wanted one#i cant pay my fucking phone bill lisa we are not the same#my partner has to work so hard for us to have enough to eat#he budgets and plans and cooks and uses everything available to him#like no doubt things are tough for everyone but perhaps things are proportionally tougher for some of us

The emotional depth blended with the urge for growth will enable them to realize a greater harmony in relationships and other pursuits. This aspect brings out stamina and awareness of the inner and outer world.
6. Moon-Saturn Aspects
Conjunction: This is the aspect of emotional discipline and maturity. Carrying a sense of responsibility from an early age, this often weighs in their emotional development. They may seem reserved or cautious, but the inner strength is immense. They learn through challenges and setbacks, which foster resilience and wisdom. Relationships may feel restricted initially, but with time, they form deep and lasting bonds. Emotional growth comes from embracing vulnerability and balancing duty with self-care.
Sextile: The aspect helps an individual be emotionally stable and practical, building sound foundations in both personal and professional spheres. They are reliable, practical, and often excel in roles that demand patience and consistency. Their steady demeanor makes them excellent problem solvers, especially in emotionally charged situations. They attract opportunities to grow through meaningful relationships and structured environments. This placement supports long-term success by blending emotional resilience with practicality.
Square: This is an aspect that generally brings an emotional block and/or fear of vulnerability. There could be problems in expressing feelings, which lead to a person's isolation. Yet, these problems are the possibility of deep growth because they face their insecurities head-on and work through them. They often develop a strong work ethic and emotional endurance that helps them achieve stability over time. This placement teaches the value of persistence and self-compassion in navigating emotional challenges.
Trine: The emotional and practical stability with this placement is instinctive. People with this placement are responsible, self-disciplining, and emotionally stable, generally serving as an emotional anchor for others. They fare well within set structures, with personal and professional commitments to long-term goals. The whole calm and composed attitude toward life makes them command trust and respect in interpersonal relations. Success at leading tasks may also be achieved since this aspect supports one's emotional intelligence with great caution and foresight.
Opposition: The emotional needs conflict with responsibilities, which creates tension. A person usually feels torn between one's self and the demands of society or family. This conflict acts as a stimulus for growth through learning to integrate these opposing demands. The relationships may appear difficult but, at the same time offer great chances for profound emotional learning. Gradually, they learn to balance emotional depth with practical wisdom, finding harmony both within and without.

7. Moon-Uranus Aspects
Conjunction: Emotional unpredictability, a strong need for freedom. Individuals with such an aspect are super intuitive and inventive; their way is always somehow different from the ordinary. The mood of these people can be quite sudden or erratic, which may make them exciting but sometimes challenging to be with. They feel most alive in an ever-changing environment that gives them room for self-expression. This aspect stirs creativity and originality, yet it requires effort toward emotional continuity and grounding.
Sextile: The aspect brings emotional adaptability and a flair for innovation. Individuals thrive when they have to think fast and find their way out of a situation. Their openness to change enables them to go through life with ease. Relationships are dynamic and exciting, as one values freedom and mutual growth. This aspect often shows a high degree of intuition, enabling them to connect with others on deep and unusual levels. They inspire others with their originality and emotional resilience.
Square: Emotional turbulence and unpredictability may be the challenging factors of this aspect. They are often pulled between the need for stability and the need for independence, which creates inner tension. The challenges, in turn, make them grow as a person by learning to adapt to change constructively. They channel their emotional energy into creative or innovative pursuits, transforming chaos into strength. This aspect most often compels them to go in search of unconventional approaches toward emotional expression.
Trine: With this aspect, emotional independence and innovation seem to flow without effort. Generally, very intuitive, they inspire others through their originality and adaptability. They move through change with ease into their place within dynamic relationships that give them their space. The emotional intelligence and creative thinking make them natural problem solvers and visionaries. This placement can create a strong linkage to one's identity and help in building a purposeful and satisfying life.
Opposition: The emotional needs and a need for independence can come into conflict, and create tension. Such people find it hard to balance their stability and independence. The relationships seem difficult yet hold much scope for deep emotional fulfillment. Integrating their security needs with an innovative spirit makes them resilient and adaptable. This aspect stimulates the person to embrace change yet stay grounded; in this process, over time, they mature emotionally and grow more aware of themselves.
8. Moon-Neptune Aspects
Conjunction: This aspect is characterized by profound empathy, imagination, and intuition. Individuals are ultra-sensitive to the feelings of others and very much attuned to the collective unconscious. They will gravitate toward artistic and spiritual interests where creativity and compassion can be brought into play. They'll need to resist the urge to flee from or place unrealistic ideals on their relationships. It is through this process that emotional growth will come: grounding their dreams in reality and setting healthy boundaries, so their sensitivity becomes a strength, not a burden.
Sextile: This aspect can cultivate emotional depth and profound connection to the spiritual or artistic. They are compassionate, imaginative, and find their fulfillment in helping others. Their intuition is highly developed, guiding them in relationships and creative endeavoring. They naturally draw to themselves opportunities to express their emotions in deep and meaningful ways. It's a placement that supports emotional healing and growth through self-reflection and a connection to higher ideals.
Square: This can be an emotionally confusing or unrealistic aspect. People have to make very real choices often between idealistic yearnings and practical circumstance, which then causes them to become disillusioned. However, this sort of tension allows for personal growth, as it teaches one to weigh dreams against practicality. They develop emotional resilience through facing their fears and putting a ground on their vision. This placement inspires creativity, makes one explore one's self and compassion without losing one's sense of self.
Trine: This aspect brings emotional sensitivity and spiritual depth. People with this aspect are naturally compassionate, imaginative, and inspire others through their creativity and empathy. Many of them derive joy from creative or healing work as a mode of expression and connection. Their intuition is highly developed, helping them navigate relationships and challenges with grace. This placement brings about a deep sense of peace and satisfaction, for one is in line with their higher emotional and spiritual purpose.
Opposition: Emotionally idealistic, these are the people who will fight reality when idealistic; they often get caught between a dream and real life, where self-doubting is sure to take center stage. All the same, this sets in the spirit of development through the synthesis of intuition with grounded life processes. In these cases, the opportunities of relationships involve discoveries of self and emotional healing. After some time, they come out even and can balance sensitivity with practicality.
9. Moon-Pluto Aspects
Conjunction: This aspect defines intense emotions and profound transformation. There is an intrinsic emotional rapport that usually results in the transmutation of challenging situations, resilience, intuitiveness, and strong inner direction within life's complications. But they need to avoid becoming possessive or obsessive in a relationship. The placement brings them to emotional empowerment to regain their lost potential and heal old wounds. Very often, such a journey may influence others to take up the journey of transformation themselves.
Sextile: With this aspect, emotional depth and resilience are innate. The individuals are drawn to the trans-formative experiences that help them grow and heal. Gracefulness around challenges makes them a strength for others. They usually perform well in any role that involves empathy and emotional intelligence, like counseling or mentoring. This aspect furthers deep and profound connectivity, helping them create a fulfilling emotional life.
Square: This is a very emotionally turbulent aspect that usually brings power struggles and intense challenges. Fears of vulnerability or loss may be the enforcing factors for changing the inner patterns. These challenges will bring great personal growth and emotional resilience. The ability to empower themselves and create deep healing will be unleashed when they learn to accept their dark side and come into self-awareness. It calls for channeling intensity into constructive and transformative pursuits.
Trine: Under this aspect, emotional strength and depth flow with ease. Naturally resilient, intuitive, and transformative, these individuals inspire others through their way of dealing with life's complications. They thrive in deep and meaningful relationships, offering emotional support and understanding to those around them. This placement really furthers personal growth, helping them align with their inner power and higher purpose. Their emotional intelligence often leads to success in leadership or healing roles.
Opposition: Emotional intensity and external obstacles dynamically charge this aspect. A person may feel torn between wanting to be in control and wanting to connect on an emotional level. This dynamic promotes growth as one learns to find balance between these opposites. The relationships provide a venue for deep changes and self-realization. With time, they learn emotional resilience and profound insight into their own power that will enable them to create truly valuable and meaningful connections.

5.6 paralogism mistranslations
(or, at least the ones i paid attention to, which is mainly just kaeya and diluc. yes i'm biased. leave me alone) (yes. some medium spoilers ahead)
honeyhunter and the bilibili wiki haven't updated with chinese transcripts of the new 5.6 archon quest so pretty much all of this is going to be reliant on my listening skills, which are pretty bad because i have a hard time discerning auditory things for some reason.
this isn't a mistranslation i just got really excited when i was going back through the travel log and saw this. i can't believe they remembered diluc was the former cavalry captain *bangs ground and cries*
if i had to say anything about this quest. i guess it would be that i wish more people would play with chinese voiceover. i feel like the tone of almost every character is conveyed better through it, and the lipsyncing actually matches up because, yknow, the game is originally in chinese.
no real hate towards the japanese voiceover, i know because of anime and other stuff that there's more interest for jp voices and hearing famous seiyuu is cool, but i wish it didn't come at the cost of me literally never being able to find chinese voiceover content or even the chinese voice actors half of the time. yeah Sometimes i can find it on bilibili but it's not easy.
anyways, translations are below the cut
so from what i've discerned for the general quest, it's all pretty well translated or slightly adapted for the region because of cultural differences. for example, dahlia and sucrose's exchange here
the second part is better translated (from memory, because i can't find this bit in the travel log to listen to the dialogue again) as "a girl by herself could be too dangerous, so let me help". this is generally because feminism and chivalry are viewed differently in china. china is usually more respectful of women than countries like the US, so chivalrous actions like this are considered polite rather than subconsciously(?) demeaning sucrose's ability. idk, i figure some people might see it that way.
alright lets get to the main thing that annoyed me
in chinese, the dialogue reads roughly as thus (...and i'll add emojis for tone):
kaeya: :O holy--* just by a hair!**. for this one i'll really have to thank master diluc for lending a hand! :D diluc: no need to be polite. even if you weren't here, i'd still lend a hand. instead, your presence actually blocked my way. :/ kaeya: well... why don't i just leave then? if i stayed, i would only be able provide some elemental reactions creating a lot of steam***. feels like it wouldn't be very helpful! :P diluc: really?
[*kaeya's onomatopoeia is going to be translated the way i hear it through sun ye's tone]
[**kaeya says 千钧一发, idk how to translate this idiom very well]
[***i checked if this was the chinese term for vaporize, it's not]
LIKE. IT'S DIFFERENT RIGHT? I'M NOT CRAZY RIGHT? why is the english translation so determined to make them seem like they hate each other more?? i know kaeya's following dialogue makes it less antagonistic--
but does that mean the first part has to make kaeya sound so lowkey pitiful through text dialogue? (disclaimer: as of may 7th, 2025, there are no english voiceovers for this dialogue)
i don't have much other opinion on this it just annoyed me because in chinese they sound a lot more amicable towards each other, with kaeya directly teasing. but those ellipses in english don't leave much to be desired.
additionally, here:
in chinese, the dialogue reads roughly as thus (...and i'll add emojis for tone):
kaeya: haha, alright, when did you realize something was off? ^-^ diluc: the first trial. :| kaeya: lemme guess, because of the imposter hertha? :o diluc: compared to them, your problem was more obvious. :/ kaeya: me?! >:O what was wrong with me? :( you mean to say, my role as the defense wasn't played with enough passion? >:) diluc: nobody said that.* it's just that it seemed like you lacked some nervousness. :/ kaeya: then... when does master diluc think i actually get nervous? >:)
*(i don't have a rolling eyes emoji but imagine it here)
like there's a clear difference here!! if it were a matter of timing for spoken dialogue, (which, let's be honest, hoyoverse has not cared about that almost ever (see: signora death cutscene)), the hardest to fit in the same timing would be my translation of kaeya's third line. and even then, the official translation's tone sounds much more muted because it lacks verbal direction of cn kaeya's vocal mannerisms (which, summed up, is basically just "teasing").
like, cn kaeya is an endearing little shithead hiding something, en kaeya has the air of someone on edge but trying to sound friendly (this feels more obvious in many interactions between him and diluc).
in chinese, the dialogue reads roughly as thus (...and i'll add emojis for tone) [brackets include implied information]:
kaeya: mm! don't worry, just leave this area to me and this enthusiastic volunteer (doing-the-knights-work)* civilian, master diluc! ^_^ albedo: why not say "the former cavalry captain and the current cavalry captain" [working together]? :| diluc: i don't feel like that's necessary =_=
*personally, i'd remove this part because it sounds weirder in english
need i say more. *slams head into brick wall* when will kaeya and diluc stop having their dialogue slandered in english
in chinese, the dialogue reads roughly as thus:
diluc: if i have to say something, i'd rather believe that someone who once helped me in the past couldn't suddenly become a cold-blooded killer.
this isn't really that big of a mistranslation i'm just very particular about diluc's words.
also i'm so offended at this group gathering photo because like what about everyone else who defended mondstadt? you're gonna ignore them?? fischl? mona?? noelle??? DILUC????
"oh ash it's a knights' meeting" YEAH BUT I WANNA SEE DILUC?? i'm calm. i'm so calm. this is fine everything's fine.
also the cutscene at the end was super cool, because GUESS WHAT HAPPENED
i love them so much

Batfam civilian au hobbies
(my opinion/ideas!!!)
Steph - rollerblading or roller skating, piano
Cass - ballet, hip hop, singing
Duke - hip hop, writing, mystery games
Jason - mountain biking, writing, reading,
Tim - skateboarding, photography
Dick - gymnastics (obviously) and acrobatics
Barbara - coding, ballet, martial arts
Damian - art, fencing, some sort of music playing
Notes + Reasoning
I just still imagine Steph as a very 80s + 90s teen and want to see her roller skating and doing tricks
I have a lot of art I’ve done of her roller skating I LOVE HER SO MUCH
Steph actually canonically plays the piano and I think if given the opportunity to continue she could get really good at it
Cass is very much a dancer and does ballet in a lot of comics (including WFA whether or not you take it as canon it is cute to see Cass’s interactions with the family and to see her dancing)
I think that Cass would pursue other dance mediums/forms(?) and hip hop would be interesting to see
Cass singing? hmmm maybe I just want to see it? Like think about it, she has spent so much of her life without the ability to speak I want to see her soar and I want to see her take the stage with her newfound voice
Duke!!! I love Duke so much and I especially love Cass and Duke as a duo, like they are a top five duo in all of dc for me. SOOOO I want to see them dance together thus why they both have hip hop, I mean honestly I can see them doing something else like ballroom dancing but I feel like hip hop is a dance form that just leaves so much room for self expression that they both could enjoy
Duke canonically is a good writer and I want to see more of it in a situation where Duke’s parents don’t get jokerized and he is instead able to spend his teen years not fearing the Riddler’s riddles and things like that
Mystery games - I mean come on? Let me have this!! I want Duke to continue his love for puzzle games and things like that
Jason… hmmm I was originally going to put street racing or like motorbike racing, but I feel like in a civilian au where Jason still got adopted by Bruce I think he would want to do something more dangerous and rebellious like the aforementioned activities but Bruce and Alfred would push against it. They would probably settle for mountain biking as a controlled activity that also has the thrill he might be seeking
Writing and reading I feel like are pretty obvious for Jason, he likes literature! Woo! Lets go! Read and write, my boy!
For Tim, once again it is very obvious why I would pick skateboarding and photography – both are things he does in canon and seems to enjoy
Gymnastics and acrobatics for Dick – very obvious, he does it in canon and in a civilian au maybe we would see him take it to the Olympics or national competitions
Barbara I feel would still be interested in hacking, but due to her dad being the police commissioner she would only publicize her coding skills
Barbara also canonically did ballet so I think she would continue further with it and maybe eventually loses interest or chooses another passion
I mean… her dad is the police commissioner she has to do self defense!! Barbara is probably proficient in a variety of different martial arts
Damian is a manga nerd (I can relate unfortunately) so canonically and in my au he is an artist who focuses most on a more anime style, but him being Damian he can easily create photorealistic landscapes and portraits
The reason I put fencing for Damian is because in this au I feel that the al Ghul family is still very much crime focused but instead of him being an assassin turned superhero he instead is more of a royal figure so he has to go into hobbies that people would expect of a higher figure in society. Also!!! Now he still maintains a lot of skills that he is known for when he enters the Wayne-sphere in Gotham
“Bruce, your kid just challenged me to a fencing match– the fuck!?”
The instrument-playing also follows the royal hobbies thing I said before for Damian. But also he just feels like he could play a variety of instruments (Damian plays the violin and viola in canon, and the guitar and trumpet in alternate realities)
WHY ISN'T THERE A YELLOW TEXT OPTION????
I wanted to use it for Cass and Duke :(
LMK your ideas/opinions or if you think I got something plain wrong

Jihyun's new birthday CG is out! I am surprised that it doesn't fulfill the theme that we have used thus far, the theme of the characters being children. However, I'm going to comment on something that I don't think anybody is going to talk about since this is V, after all.
First of all, you guys should be jumping up and down at the moment because this is the first time he's ever had a kiss picture. I am so sorry it took this long for you guys to get a sweet kiss with your very tragic artist, but this is your lucky day. I never thought he was going to get kiss contents so I am pleasantly surprised in the best way.
Second of all, as I saw this picture last night, the first thing that came to mind was that whatever painting was going to be on his easel, was going to be something significant in my head no matter what.
This is just my conclusion, and it's something that I'm going to continue to keep in my brain no matter what since it can't be proven one way or the other, but I do believe this painting is a recreation of the one he ripped to shreds after that final argument with his mother.
Here's the crucial detail, he's not trying to recreate a one-for-one copy of what he created. I believe he is revisiting it because what is a better homage to his childhood than going back to the very thing that caused the Catalyst event in his life in the first place? He denied himself the ability to be the painter he wanted to be when he was young, and he said awful things to his mother that he could never take back.

Revisiting something he tore to shreds would allow him the opportunity to have something substantial to look at, to say to himself, “I am no longer denying my creative process, and as I remake this painting that my mother loved, I want nothing more than to be able to feel that same liberating feeling I felt and tried to crush because I was too insecure to live my dream.”
Even the event is him learning how to be a better partner who communicates with you. That's something he has to do in his good ending, and that's where this takes place. I want nothing more than for him to finally have some peace in his heart about what happened to his mother, and now that he's come full circle and learned that her sacrifice wasn't a sentiment he needed to take to heart as a lesson to never abandon people, even if those people hurt you.
That wasn't why his mother sacrificed her life for him. She did that because she loved him and that was her only child. She was his mother and she loved him no matter what. The horrible words he said out of insecurity were never something she was upset about, she was saddened, more than anything.
She wanted her son to follow his dreams, even if one day he couldn't continue those dreams.
Much like how she had to stop her passionate career as a violinist because she wasn't sure how to continue playing after losing much of her hearing. But she still got to spend so many years of her life following her passion, and even if she couldn't continue it, she still had the chance to do it. She didn't want her son to snuff out his own passion well before he even tried. So, by revisiting that painting, doing it again, and putting back in what he's learned over the years, it's the opportunity of a lifetime to make peace with himself.
He's living as himself and I think that's a nice way to tie in the childhood theme without actually having him be a child. It's not like we haven't had a photo of him as a child on the title screen before, actually, one of his last birthdays gave us a photo of him and his mother.

I wanted to share a story with you all about my creative journey thus far. 8 months in, and I have to say I never quite expected to even be sharing my writing let alone receiving kind words, encouragement, and interest from you all so here is a—I will call it a love letter to you all on tumblr who've followed and help nurture the writer I soon hope to establish!
OliOliOxenFree: My Journey
The beginning of this year, sheesh, it feels like forever ago at this point, felt like standing at the edge of a vast, uncharted territory, with only my words as a guide. I had a vision, a dream that was both thrilling and terrifying. It was a journey into the unknown, where I would carve out a space in the digital world for my stories, my voice, and my truth. I poured myself into OliOliOxenFree, not just creating content, but breathing life into a world where imagination and reality blur, where every story holds a piece of my soul.
As I embarked on this path, it quickly became clear that it would be a solitary one. The friends I had once relied on for support began to fade away, their silence louder than words. It wasn’t that I lost them entirely, but their absence in my creative life was palpable. The people I thought would stand by me, cheer me on, seemed to drift into the background, and I was left to face the echoes of their encouragements that had now gone quiet. Family, too, remained distant—whether out of a lack of understanding or a simple disinterest in my creative pursuits, I’ll never know. The realization that my passion for writing was something I had to fight for alone hit hard. The road was lonelier than I had anticipated, and I often found myself questioning whether this path was truly meant for me.
By the time June rolled around, that loneliness had seeped into every corner of my work, casting shadows over the stories I once felt so passionately about. I hit a wall—a severe crisis of confidence that shook me to my core. I began to doubt my abilities, to question whether I could really do this. The voices of support I had relied on were gone, and in their place was a void that seemed to echo my own fears back at me. It was a dark time, and for a moment, I considered giving up. But then I realized something powerful: if nobody else was going to fight for my art, I had to. This epiphany became the turning point in my journey. I understood that the only person who could truly champion my work was me. And so, I picked myself up, dusted off the doubts, and threw myself into my writing with renewed determination.
I didn’t just bounce back—I came back stronger. I now have four debut books in the works, each one a testament to the resilience I’ve found within myself. I’ve been constantly uploading short stories and flash fiction to Tumblr, the platform where I’ve received the most love and support. Despite having fewer than 200 followers on Tumblr, these individuals have become the backbone of OliOliOxenFree. Every like, every reblog, every message of encouragement has reminded me why I started this journey in the first place. Instagram might feel like a place where my work goes unnoticed, and Twitter is a mixed bag depending on the day, but Tumblr has been my sanctuary—a place where my stories can live and breathe, embraced by a community that truly gets what I’m trying to do.
At one point, I deleted my blog out of frustration, not knowing how to navigate the space or how to bring people back consistently. But as I continued to grow and evolve, I came to a realization: it’s not about the numbers. It’s not about how many people visit my website or how many followers I have. It’s about having a hub where my work can exist, where it can be read by whoever stumbles upon it, whether that’s tomorrow or five years from now.
I needed a space where my stories could live on, independent of the constant need for validation. With this newfound clarity, I’m launching OliOliOxenfree, a new creative writing blog that will serve as the home for all my work. This is where my stories will be told, where my voice will be heard, and where the community that has supported me can continue to grow. I'll be posting there more often than not. my Substack will still stand as a proprietor of creative, writing insight, deep dives, and my newfound exploration into the occult. I’m not really good at consistently posting because of work and daily life, but I am getting better trying to at least and I hope that you all see my vision in my heart and want to support it! I have 180 of you all here and even just half of you taking the time to engage and support with my platforms would mean the world to me.
I want to eventually be able to branch out and collaborate with other writers on short story books and other things that we could publish and share with the vast digital landscape! I have big plans for not only myself but the community that want to support me! I’ll be making a separate post for the anthology series that includes other writers. I think I finally got it to a place where you all can take inspiration and go from there!

𝐹𝒶𝒸𝓉𝓈 𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒯𝒾𝓂𝑜𝓉𝒽𝓎 𝐻𝑒𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓇 𝓈𝒾𝓉𝓊𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃. ⚖️💎
If you are coming across this post & you are not aware, in 2017 the former best friend of pop artist; 'Melanie Martinez' came out with her story, claiming that Melanie had assaulted her during a sleepover. This was big news at the time and left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. It all eventually got swept under the carpet with the help of a plethora of false information to create a situation where the public simply didn't know who or what to believe.
Honestly, I'm not a huge 'Crybaby' (as Melanie's fans are often referred to) at all, although I enjoyed some of Melanie Martinez's earlier songs. In fact, I'm not even overly interested in pop culture- but this situation really struck a chord with me. I guess I see myself in Timothy a bit as a survivor of similar circumstances. I've seen a lot of misinformation floating around, and I thought I'd make a lil master-post to clear things up. It appears that a lot of the people who are recycling misinformation & rooting stubbornly for Melanie's innocence are very young and just want to protect the image they hold of their idol, which I empathise with.
To those young fans- if you truly believe Melanie is innocent, there is absolutely no need to create fake screenshots, attack Timothy or anything of that nature. She doesn't need fans to embellish the story to protect her. Her innocence would speak for itself, & honestly it would help Melanie more if her fans portrayed themselves as levelheaded rather than brutish bullies, taking sides like it is a sports game. This situation is delicate, and has everything to do with nuance and sensitivity.
Let's get into it..
1. 'Timothy admitted to lying in 2017 !!?'
This was one of the many rumours spread by die-hard fans. There was a photoshopped Instagram story screenshot spread around online where there is a- horribly written might I add- 'confession' from Timothy. As rumours do- especially when para-social, blindly passionate fans are involved- these false screenshots spread like wildfire.
Note the incorrect formatting of the time of posting in the false screenshot. Instagram has always formatted story post times as eg. '9m' or '9h'. Never 9min. Beyond that, the writing/grammar etc reads very childish, when Timothy typically demonstrates a more eloquent writing ability. Not sure how these kinds of things were believed at the time; but my best guess is because a lot of the fanbase was very young at the time (12-18 mostly).

2. 'didn't Timothy accuse multiple other celebrities of the same thing!?'
No. This was another persistent rumour circulating at the time that was, similarly to the former rumour, entirely fabricated. I doubt Timothy Heller even has connections to Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift or any of the other names that have been floating around. There is absolutely no evidence of Timothy ever making these claims, it's just young impressionable fans parroting one another.
This one is incredibly strange- there isn't even any kind of evidence of Timothy saying this, let alone false evidence. It seems that somehow, obsessive Melanie fans saw the following Timothy tweets and spun a completely ridiculous lie using the names she mentioned. Timothy never once claimed to be assaulted by anyone other than Melanie.
These tweets are actually quite protective and sweet in nature, she is speaking her mind noticing how Billie Eilish who was only 16 at the time was very unprotected in the industry; surrounding herself with grown men, etc. and it was incredibly overlooked due to her celebrity status.

3. 'Timothy messed up the date! Aha! Proof she lied!'
Timothy did indeed fumble the date back in 2017. She explains in her recent video that the reason for this was that she was going off of a photo she remembered taking the day after the event, and unfortunately the photo appeared twice in her camera roll thus confusing the date (it's possible she took a screenshot of the photo later on or something along that vein).
Fans noticed that on the date Timothy gave mistakenly; Melanie was on tour in a different state & fans naively ran with this as proof of a lie.
The truth is, Timothy messing up the date is completely irrelevant. It would be a point of suspicion if Melanie had entirely denied they were ever together, but this isn't the case. It was confirmed by Melanie that this sleepover & the night in question did happen. It was also confirmed by Melanie, that on this night they did have sexual interactions. The date is totally unimportant.
I find it very strange how in image 1- Melanie admits that the night in question happened ie. the infamous 'she never said no to what we chose to do together'. This line of course sounds... convoluted at best, fairly sinister at worst.
However in image 2, Melanie states she 'thanks her 'fans who took the time to research the timeline, analyze past instagram photos, and question the story being told, which reveal her false statements'. This is incredibly strange, as she is implying that fans pointing out the date mix up proves her innocence; yet simultaneously admits that the event happened. Very inconsistent.

4. 'Why doesn't she take it to court rather than TikTok? Clearly she is after fame.'
In the midst of the aftermath of Timothy Heller's recent TikTok video where she resurfaces and speaks on her story again; a lot of people are questioning why she has not taken this to court. For some this is a way of saying 'this is a personal, delicate issue that is bound to get messy and explosive online & not the public's issue' which is an understandable perspective; but for others what they mean is 'she didn't take it to court, that must mean she's not serious about this therefore it is a lie'.
Unfortunately, legal justice is incredibly unlikely with a case like this, and I'm sure Timothy is aware of that.
There is (thankfully for Timothy's sake) no video evidence, no audio recordings- even if some sort of physical test of touch, fluid, etc. was performed, this only proves sex- not assault; and Melanie doesn't deny that they had sex. It also happened years ago, and as time goes on these things become harder and harder to prove.
Timothy likely feels that the best she can do is attempt to speak out and attain some form of social justice. Not only is the legal system feeble and tricky- it's also that Melanie has a disproportionate amount of money to work with. For Timothy, taking this to court would likely be a financially poor & fruitless decision.
Timothy also has stated in the past in this livestream @ 4:11 'I don't want to go to the police because I don't want Melanie to go to jail.'
So, there is also this understandable element where she still cares for Melanie on some level. She has no desire to punish Melanie herself, her coming out had more to do with owning her OWN story and liberating herself with the truth.
5. 'Isn't it suspicious that Timothy only seems to come out with this when Melanie is at a high in her career?'
A common point fans bring up is that Timothy seems to come out with her story at 'peaks' in Melanie's career. I don't have much to flesh out about this one since honestly this point is more of a personal opinion type of thing. Yes, Melanie is on her worldwide 'Trilogies' tour, but her album; 'Portals' came out a year ago.
I honestly feel like people would be throwing out this stale argument no matter when Timothy resurfaced. Whether it was during the anticipation of Portals, when Portals released, in the months after release- hell, during the K-12 era even. I just think this point is very.. empty.
That being said, if you would consider right now a high in her career, this honestly makes a lot of sense. Timothy was driven off of the internet by pure malice the first time she came out with this information- it makes sense that now that Melanie is bigger, she wants to reinforce, 'hey, don't forget about me, don't forget about my story & what I went through'.
6. 'She remained friends with Melanie, dressed up as Melanie, agreed to play a fun sex game with Melanie'
None of these things point to her lying, and in fact are very plainly consistent with Timothy's story from the get go. Timothy always maintained the fact that for some time after the event occurred, it was hard to admit to herself that what happened was assault. Having that realisation took time, reflection & concerned reactions from friends when she would jokingly explain what happened. Therefore she stayed friends with Melanie & in her inner circle. As for the sex game... irrelevant. You can play a fun 'goofy' sex game with a friend but not intend to actually have sex with them.

7. 'Timothy Heller is Jealous & only wants Melanie's Fame & to Further Her own Music Career!'
This one is possibly the strangest of them all, yet seemingly the most prevalent take from hardcore fans.
First of all- being famous for being assaulted by a famous person, does not translate to personal fame in other endeavours outside of a minority of people who have eyes on the situation idly clicking on things out of sheer curiosity. 'Oh, this is 'the girl who was assaulted by Melanie Martinez's' music!'.
It is known that often, speaking up hinders people's careers which is why many in the industry & in life in general stay silent. This is exactly what happened to Timothy Heller- she was bullied, doxxed, threatened, stalked and harassed into hiding; not only doing wonders I'm sure for her mental health; but also putting her potential music career to a complete halt for some time.
Timothy has absolutely nothing to gain from coming out. Truly nothing. Not money, not fame in her personal endeavours, nothing but the possibility of justice on a social level; combined with the risk of further social ridicule & threat to her physical safety. She is putting herself on the line to double down on her story. After all she went through after coming forward the first time, she is completely willing to die on this hill so to speak. That shocked me...
In 2017, though even my younger self was appalled by the way fans were handling the situation and treating Timothy; it really did feel more like a 'he said, she said' situation. However, now after the fact of her making that video, the emotion in her voice, her never straying form the initial story; Melanie's inconsistencies...
I believe her.
& if you don't... touché; it's true that none of us were there. Though I feel that picture is quite clear when all of the misinformation is cleared away; which was the intention of this post.
8. Note that Melanie's tendency to be sexually coercive has been Reiterated by people other than Timothy
Melanie's former stylist, Madeleine Carina came out on Twitter not long after Timothy with the following statement:
“Something similar (not r*pe) happened w/ me and Mel. She begged me over and over again to sleep with her n I finally gave in. She wore me down. I said yes. But it was not the same with Timothy. I will support @timothyheller till the end.”
While Madeleine herself clarifies that she didn't consider her situation assault as she did eventually say yes; it does shed light on this kind of behaviour being a pattern for Melanie.

//
Some closing thoughts: reviewing all of this information, I think there's a strong chance that Melanie herself genuinely doesn't believe that she crossed a line & has a sort of cognitive dissonance about it. There is room for all sorts of shades of grey when it comes to understanding human emotions & intentions, but this wouldn't negate the way this occurrence affected Timothy either way. I read somewhere 'If Timothy wasn't a victim before, she definitely is now considering the way she's been treated all these years'.
Thankyou for reading, & I hope this shed some light on things ✌🏼🤍🤍

hi again I hope you can do a yandere mer parents Scott and jean [ animated series ] [ Scott is a merman and jean is a siren] x baby hybrid reader please .
Oh my carp that's so cute-! They'd be a happy little family, wouldn't they? Okay, let's dive in-
• Scott isn't sure how a mer lioe him can be so lucky to have a mate like Jean. She's gorgeous, she's smart, she's clever, and she's his best friend. He doesn't know what he'd do without her, and he's so glad he doesn't ever have to worry about losing her. She'd happily hypnotize anyone into letting her go, or she'd drown any humans who tried to hurt either one of them. She made his world brighter by simply existing-
• Jean wasn't sure how she ended up with a mate like Scott. He was kind, passionate, handsome, and wanted to help others. He was also her best friend, now her mate (and sirens didn't tend to let their mates go...). He had his heart in the right direction, and she and the rest of their pod would gladly follow him into h*ll and back. She thanked every Ocean and the Moon itself for letting her have him in her life-
• It wasn't too shocking that they ended up with a guppy. It wasn't too shocking when said guppy came out healthy and hungry. What was shocking was that it wasn't a siren or a mer- It was something entirely new, a hybrid. That only made the two even more protective. Thus was their child, their guppy, their pup, and it was their job to take care of them, and they wanted to do it to the best of their abilities. That led to many situations-
• Reader had to learn to use whatever powers they hatched with, so it didn't take much time before they both tried to see which abilities they'd have. What they didn't expect was for their guppy to have BOTH powers. It was funny, looking back on it, that their guppy basically used their powers to make them both happy. The problem was a baby no bigger than their guppy pouch having the ability to hypnotize others AND control fire. And they weren't the most... careful... guppy in the ocean.
• Tryinh to keep Reader from getting stuck or caught in a riptide or simply keeping them from wandering off was hard. It was made even harder because Reader refused to nap, and no matter how many times Jean lulled them under with her voice, they'd just wake up and become pouty. It wasn't very fun for Scott, getting to put them to sleep either. They seemed to roll out of the nest enough times that he started lunging to catch them even when he was only half-awake. The two of them wondered how they had a child this adventurous...
• And the only times when their child seemed to willingling take a nap was when they were sick. And they HATED when their baby was sick. Scott tried not to panic, holding them and trying to keep them warm, while Jean did her best to procure medicine for them and soothing them then her voice and gentle kisses. Trying to feed the medicine to their guppy didn't take much hassle, as their baby was too tired to fight when their mouth was opened and the medicine pushed in. The waiting felt the worst to them. Simply hoping and praying that their baby didn't die, or that they didn't catch a human illness... The two don't leave the nest unless it's to catch food or drag Beast in to check on Reader.
• Their baby is one who always keep them alert, but they wouldn't change it. Why would they? When their kid calls to them? Gives them kisses? Fits right in their arms? This is a baby they've wanted, one they've prepared for, and they couldn't imagine giving them up. They don't want to. They'll let their friends see them, they'll even let Reader spend time with them, but their little one won't be without either one of them for very long.
• They create little harnesses for Reader, as well as little toys and blankets. If Scott has snacks stored in a little pouch for them, then he's prepared for if Reader gets hungry. If Jean is warning them about how to use their powers, it's so Reader doesn't hurt anyone by accident. If both of them get rid of any enemies, human or mer or siren, who even looks at their baby... they're protecting them. It's what any good Mom or Dad would do...

the scariest thing about my most recent compulsion
(i've been compiling a(n annotated) (letterboxd) list of every (real) film alluded to/explicitly named in DFW's bibliography—his nonfiction essays as well as his fictional short stories and novels)
(which of course involves having to read (and in some cases re-read) every item in his bibliography)
(an act which has recently culminated in my purchasing a reprint of his thesis)
(his THESIS)
(i've then been re-typing (sometimes with my own NBs, as it becomes increasingly obvious DFW as narrator/his characters have a pretty tenuous recollection/knowledge of certain film trivia, or even what explicitly happens in a scene being referenced/described at times) the full section of the text in which the reference appears as the annotation, as a sort of de-facto proof number one that i've actually read the texts, and am not just pulling films out of my ass, as it were, but also (number two) because that's of course the real meat and potatoes of the whole list concept to begin with, and not to include the information would be doing myself and everyone a disservice by neglecting to provide context/proof...)
is sometimes that DFW/his narrators make somewhat oblique references to a director
(in infinite jest in particular this tends to be invoked when making reference to particular directorial styles re: dr. james orin incandenza's own flimic influences)
and it isn't explicitly clear which (if any particular) film of theirs is being referenced
(though in some cases I am familiar enough with that director's filmography to know what film a quirk/stylistic choice/etc appears perhaps most pronouncedly in, or which it is probable he's intending to refer to, and I can include that particular film in the list)
such as in the case of the following quotation, from p 393 in IJ:
"... all these twirling journalistically out from a black-acetate (one of O. Stice's old Fila warm-up tops) background in vintagely allusive old-b&w-film style, with a sonic background of that sad sappy Italianate stuff Scorsese had loved for his own montages, with the headlines lap-dissolving into transverse angled shots of a modest, green-masked Gentle..."
in which my first instinct, upon reading, is to add raging bull to the list, associating it's "montage" scene with the use of newspaper headlines describing the outcomes of matches jake lamotta participated in, but recognize this may be the product of my own recency bias, having just seen bull for the first time this year. to complicate that compulsion however is the acknowledgement that, on a second reading, i realize the montage is presented secondarily to the "sad sappy Italianate stuff," and that I cannot, if I focused all my energy on it, recall for the life of me what music had been playing during bull's montage scene, thus making it possible DFW/his narrator was perhaps thinking of another scorsese film when this description was written, in which case it would be wrong to add bull to the list...
and this would all be nothing,
(as—in the interest of accuracy—i would (normally) be completely willing revisit the tangential works connected to my present occupation (in this case, the films making up the list) provided I felt my personal time spent looking over other data could be directly linked to my ability to describe something with a greater degree of accuracy)
(a habit refined, but not originated, during my time working as a processing archivist)
if I didn't fucking hate scorsese's films with a violent, vitriolic passion, and (thus) dread the prospect of having to rewatch any, much more all of his films for the sake of creating a wholly accurate DFW film list which I am near positive no one but me will ever read in it's entirety, or (for that matter) even really give a shit about
(and I do)
(hate his films, I mean)

Touhou Luna Nights coming to PS5, PS4 on January 25, 2024
Gematsu Source
Publisher PLAYISM and developer Team Ladybug will release Touhou Luna Nights for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on January 25, 2024, the companies announced.
Touhou Luna Nights first launched in Early Access for PC via Steam on August 20, 2018, followed by a full release on February 26, 2019, an Xbox One version on September 3, 2020, and a Switch version on December 17, 2020.
In Japan, PLAYISM will also release physical standard and limited editions of Touhou Luna Nights for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Switch. The standard edition will include the original soundtrack as a first-print bonus. The limited edition will include a special box, the original soundtrack, three replacement cover arts, and eight tin badges.
Here is an overview of the game, via its store pages:
About
Touhou Luna Nights is a Metroidvania title with a heavy emphasis on exploration and action. Developed by Team Ladybug, creators of multiple fantastic action games thus far.
Story
“…Now, let’s begin my world.” Remilia Scarlet, head vampire of the Scarlet Devil Mansion sends her maid Sakuya Izayoi with no warning to a world much like Gensokyo, but not quite. A world full of strange places, filled with strange youkai and her time manipulation sealed. What could Remilia’s end game be…?
Key Features
Time stop system from character’s Ability and Gimmick maps that use special abilities like time stop.
Adapt the “graze” system of the Touhou Project into a 2D game, giving you a sense of tension in approaching to the enemy.
Graphics that bring out the appeal of the Touhou world, such as attractive dot graphics.
A Word from the Publisher
Team Ladybug began with Pharaoh Rebirth, continuing with other enjoyable games including Resurrection of Beldia and Shin Megami Tensei SYNCHRONICITY PROLOGUE. Since, I have been waiting in anticipation for their next project. This time, they have created a fan fiction game based off the world-renowned Touhou Project. From the background to the character’s movements and various skills, one can feel the creator’s passion for games and love of the Touhou Project. While it has a Metroidvania style, the game can easily progress without the insistence of repeat elements or collecting items. This has resulted in a spectacular game born from the game production skills cultivated by Team Ladybug. And I personally want to highlight the beauty of the anime sprite. You can see the attention to detail the creator put into not only the leading character’s movements, but the effects and enemy characters. Touhou Luna Nights is not only for Touhou fans but one that can be enjoyed by anyone who loves 2D action games.

artwork by me
i wanted to make my first post something cool but all i came up with was this rant about the social media platform i called my home for 6 years.
**a rant**
im finding dark patterns on instagram that dont appeal to me and that i cant support. the entire platform is geared towards shortform content and keeping you on the platform for as long as possible. thus the platform drives away small artists and does not give them a chance to grow
1. dark patterns consist of things such as: updating the app and making small changes that nobody asked for, removing the ability to see every post under a hashtag, and reels taking you down unintentional rabbit holes.
ive always been annoyed by recommended reels on your home page taking you off of your home page and sending you into the reels page. i am in belief that your home page should be a static area that is full of things you’d expect to see there such as posts from people you follow. when a reel takes you out of your home page, its very intrusive and i often find myself getting lost down this rabbit hole for 30 minutes and feeling annoyed after realizing what had happened.
when i recently found out that you cant view recent posts under a hashtag, i was absolutely pissed. its a direct attack against small artists and people who want to look for commissions of maybe an artist with a not-so-popular style. or even cheap coms. if i cant find these smaller artists and support them, how can we expect a community to grow and prosper. how can i expect to grow from a hashtag directly. at that point why even bother with putting a hashtag.
2.with the rise of short form content, artists have had to find new ways to gain reach from their posts. naturally, art in of itself doesnt have great video content, as its a picture. while one could argue this creates competitive creativity and drives someone to think outside the box, it ultimately harms and deters new artists from giving it a go, because it requires more time devoted to the entertaining part of the content than the actual artwork being created. most short form content is designed to generate a quick laugh and maybe a like and follow. when artists cant do that, because they want a specific aesthetic to their art, lack of interaction between community and artist may drive their passion dry.
with the fact that instagram is now more geared towards short videos and not photos like it once used to be, the chances of success as an artist is becoming scarce. theres a loss of close knit community that was once present.
thats what i hope to achieve here. i want to bring back that community feeling that we all once felt. i dont make art all too often anymore because instagram has killed my desire to make and create. i want to see awesome art. thats about it. when i create stuff i want atleast a little bit of attention. i dont want to feel like something i spent hours of my time making, flopped.
if ur still reading this…. thanks
i hope its made you realize that, wow. we all waste so much time on reels, and tiktoks too. to me, the short form content just doesnt sit well with me. i want to be enthralled in whatever im engaged with. lets make a cool community together! thankyou artists!

¶ … George Washington University's Sonography Bachelor's Program has much to do with how much the field of sonography has expanded in the last several years. Personally, due to my abilities, qualifications and experiences, I feel that this field of study as a diagnostic medical sonographer will greatly assist in my future development and career as a highly-trained medical specialist. In addition, since this program places a heavy emphasis on both practical and didactic education, I am convinced that the training I will receive in this program will enrich my future prospects, not to mention that classes are small in size which allows for personal interaction between the student and the instructor. Also, this degree program is accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs which guarantees that all credit hours accumulated during the program will be applied to my credentials. My initial interest in pursuing a degree in the medical field came about when my brother developed a very serious disease. This event prompted me to wonder about his medical future regarding treatment in the form of surgery or chemotherapy, and due to the fact that we were living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where I was born and raised, the prospects of my brother finding adequate treatment and care for his disease were rather poor. As a result, I decided to create the foundations for a career in medical science. Part of this required that I take the Ethiopian School Living Examination. In 1994, after competing against 167,000 other high school graduates, I received a passing score which made me eligible to attend Addis Ababa University; however, since Ethiopia follows the command economy, I ended up in social sciences rather than in my chosen field of medicine. Nevertheless, my passion for medicine remained which led to applying to the Technology Institute of Pharmacy at the university. Unfortunately, due to conditions beyond my control, I requested a transfer to the Nursing Institute at the university, yet because of my brother's failing health, I was forced to remain at home to care for him. Things changed in 2001, when I came to the U.S., knowing that I had a much better chance there to fulfill my dreams of becoming a medical specialist. Soon after, I registered at Northern Virginia Community College to major in science and after working full-time to pay for my studies, I am now in my last semester at NVCC, aiming for an Associate in Science which hopefully will open the door to pharmacy school. Overall, by obtaining a pharmacy degree, I could not only help people in the U.S. But also my own people in Ethiopia. While a student at NVCC, I served the Ethiopian Community Development Council by providing outreach services for refugees seeking health assistance. In conclusion, my personal desire is to expand and enhance my knowledge in the pharmacy field and thus be able to provide my services to communities in the U.S. And abroad, particularly in Ethiopia. Therefore, I am looking forward with much relish to participating in GWU's Sonography Bachelor's Program. https://www.paperdue.com/customer/paper/george-washington-university-sonography-40435#:~:text=Logout-,GeorgeWashingtonUniversitysSonographyBachelors,-Length2pages Read the full article

Library of Circlaria
Third Level Society: First Version
Story Thirteen: Nix Planen
Part Two: The Personal Journal Entries of Nix Planen
I spoke with my good friend, Pat Middleton, who graduated from Cabotton last year, and explained to him all of yesterday's events. He told me to "stop and write out the events as though I were writing a story," thus doing so would allow me to make good judgements. So as promised, here is my story, written to the best of my ability.
***
My avatar, a man very much like myself and, like myself, named Nix, had become a well-seasoned avatar with a well-advanced spaceship earned through hard work and merit. A few months ago, I, through this avatar, joined an Arturian trade organization known as the Black Key Federation, founded in our year, 1336, and headquartered on the Arturian Multiverse planet: Cresca Minor LX. And I still think now as I thought then that this place was perfectly appropriate to house such a Headquarters, for Cresca Minor LX is very much a boring planet, very much like our own in the real world.
The Black Key Federation, by this time, expanded to include numerous bases in the Cresca, Parradin, and Marlen Sectors...and even a couple of bases in the Galacia Sector. The Federation specialized strictly in the trade of copper, silver, gold, and diamonds. And at the time my avatar joined, the Federation was looking very much into the expansion of trade in the Galacia Sector of these four commodities, a trade very much lucrative here since the Galacian authorities have outlawed the free trade of such, in order to secure these resources as stable bases for monetary currency.
This agenda sparked growing resentment within the Federation, especially from a faction known as the Red Priesthood. The Red Priesthood was a special collection of Quest Leaders on behalf of the Black Key Federation dedicated to such an expansion of trade for the emerging Galacia Chapters. The Commander-General of the Federation at the time, the very same Pat Middleton, had allowed the Red Priests to dictate the terms of dispersement of the rewards gained from such a black market trade. But this past Spring, following Pat's graduation, an obvious vacancy was created. I vowed to run for the position, which was elected by Federation members; and Ron Glen, my roommate from the beginning of my time here at Cabotton University, initially supported me. But then, for reasons unknown, he had his avatar turn against me. And, with incredible persuasion, defeated me to become Governor-General, himself. Glen then proceeded to have the black market revenues be dispersed evenly throughout the Federation, leaving me and many of the Red Priests feeling short-changed.
And I know this was only a part of politics within the questing planes. But nevertheless, that was my first sense of betrayal from the parties involved. The second came with Helen Nichols.
Nichols is a Cabotton student, one year older than me. She was my orientation mentor, as every Freshman is assigned one in the beginning, and served as a phenomenal resource helping me to navigate life at Cabotton for the first couple of weeks. During that time, we discovered that we had a lot in common. There were a lot of aspects about her that were very appealing to me; and I sensed that she felt the same. Though the connection was not intentionally romantic from the outset, this, combined with her physical attractiveness, was, I will admit, what led me to falling strongly in love with her in the beginning.
My hopes for her grew, as I encouraged her to join the Third Level Society and afterward mentored her based on my few weeks' experience thus far. This was something that did not catch her initially, but most definitely grew on her as time went on. It was my mentoring, I believe she may have forgotten now, that led her to being the passionate Member she is today.
Earlier this spring, I asked her on a date with myself, to which she said yes. For the occasion, we had a romantic dinner aboard the Flying Diner, a restaurant aboard an airship that flew for a couple hours at a time around Gentry County Airfield and involved a flyby of the University Campus. After that dinner, and shortly before the landing, I asked her for a long-term relationship. She replied to me that though she enjoyed the experience, she wanted to wait until the following Fall Semester to consider. I was a tad let down at the moment, but did not dare show it to her. Instead, I expressed my understanding, with the incentive in my mind, her word was to be trusted.
As it turned out, that trust was in vain.
She was originally going to venture back to her home in Pimdan, near what I believe was called the Lake Paron region, in order to do seasonal summer work. However, she met my roommate, Ron Glen, and fell madly in love with him. Unknown to me, she decided to stay. And I would not find out about any of this until I discovered Ron Glen had turned his support against me and vowed to usurp my campaign for the Governor-General position, which he won with Helen at his side.
Needless to say, being not only that my avatar was to remain Lieutenant-Admiral status but also that Helen and Ron were together, I was very disgruntled.
And it was in desiring to respond to such an act of betrayal that I saw an opportunity with the Red Priests. I rallied with them, avatars and daemons alike, and organized to have them form an insurgent group known as the Red-Keyers and to coup against the top leadership of the Black Key Federation. The first part of this agenda of mine was to begin with some of the Red Priests starting up minor but numerous conflicts upon the remotely-managed planets of the Galacia Sector, not enough to guarantee retaliation from the super-authoritarian Galacian regime but enough to make Glen and Nichols uncomfortable about this sort of thing. Glen, as planned, dispatched a bulk of Black Key Federation forces toward this distraction.
But that was only a small portion of the forces I had at my disposal. The remaining bulk of them, while Glen and Nichols were distracted, launched an armada which succeeded in sacking Federation Headquarters on Cresca Minor LX, a critical blow.
Up to this point, Glen was not aware that I was behind the "crisis." So my expectation, since he still showed respect for me even though I was getting the short-end of the stick, was to call on me for help. My response to that would be to dispatch my battalion of fighters, the ones Glen had assigned to me that is, to defeat the insurgents. Thus, it was the idea that I would get credit for resolving the crisis and, perhaps, gain a better standing in Black Key Federation leadership, if not actually win the Commander-General title myself.
But Glen's call for help never came. And after a great deal of waiting, I became impatient and took matters into my own hands. I took my battalion to Cresca Minor LX and discovered that the Red-Keyer insurgents had made a peace deal with Helen Nichol's battalion.
I was outraged over this. So I decided to cloak myself and join forces with those remaining Red-Keyers still loyal to me. Together, we attacked the planet again with the hope to sabotage the situation. This was a mistake though, for within my reformed attack force were, I believe, one or two avatars who snitched on me. Glen and Nichols made a joint call for the Red-Key insurgents to renounce themselves and become loyal stewards of the original Black Key Federation, and to have the Black Key Federation vote my avatar out completely. This matter succeeded; thus, I was kicked out of the Black Key Federation.
The worst part was that I did not realize any of this was happening at the time. Not the vote-out nor even the initial snitching. I was actually on a weekend visit to my parents' house when the decisions were made. And it was only after I returned to Cabotton and attempted to have my avatar engage his spaceship, only to find it locked down, that I noticed something was unusual. My suspicions increased when I had resolved that a new spaceship was needed from the Federation Repository, and discovered that I was locked out of said Repository. I contacted Ron Glen regarding the issue to which he responded that I was no longer a Federation Member.
That was yesterday morning. And Ron had broken the news to me at the time in the form of direct messaging. That evening, as in last night, I confronted Ron, who was alone at the time, just leaving our suite to go meet Helen at the Slack, and told him that there appeared to be a mistake.
"I meant what I said, Nix," Ron said, stiffly, to me at that moment. "You were being dishonest for personal gain. Helen agrees and so does the majority of Federation Members."
"This is ridiculous," I said angrily, throwing my hands in the air.
"Indeed it is...due to you."
"How about we see what the Server Administrator and the Prefects have to say about this."
Ron chuckled a little. "Good luck with that."
I grabbed Ron by the shirt. "Or how about I dispatch a clenched fist to your face!?"
"Woah!" Ron threw his hands in the air. "Fine. Go ahead and try but I wouldn't risk the Campus Watch and a trip to University Affairs if I were you."
And I did the only thing I could do at that time. I let go of Ron and I stormed off.

"And what you did was precisely the right thing to do in the end," Pat Middleton told me tonight. "...with only one caveat: do not end up like Albin Gene."
"Who is that?" I asked.
Pat leaned back, cringing into his hands. Then he explained:
"Albin Gene was a student here between five and seven years ago. He was a Member of the Third Level Society. He was convinced that he 'had a higher calling,' and that he was 'the chosen one,' whatever that meant. This, of course, kicked up a lot of dust between himself and other Society Members. He joined the Pagewriter Guild at some point, and later thought that qualified him for the Dungeonmaster position. Needless to say, he lost that election...and I think that was back in the fall of 1335. He was rather disgruntled by the setback and unjoined the Society, vowing to focus all of his attention on the Guild. That following spring though, the Guild kicked him out...he apparently gained a notorious reputation of some sort there as well.
"Where he is now," Pat concluded, placing a hand on my knee. "No one really knows. All I hope is that he never comes back and that you never meet him. And promise never to be like him!"
"You have my word," I said, shaking his hand.
Shortly after I left, curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to check the Society OCEA Newsfeeds. Apparently, Helen's avatar ousted Ron's as Commander-General, which gave me a bit of a chuckle. I'm sure that Ron is gutted, but, with their relationship as strong as it is, I am sure it will be a short time before they console with each other.
Regardless, I have resolved to have my avatar start over, questing first in Rope World on a random Arturian planet. My hope is that I will gain enough Arturian Credits and rise up to Space World again, perhaps to form my own Federation or Guild.

Indefinite hiatus notice (Plus a quick QnA)
Howdy, folks!
To the few who are still following this blog (thank you, and sorry ;-;), I apologize for the vanishing act. I’ve gotten myself into an unhelpful cycle of making a single story post, ditching this blog for months and months, and then coming back only to make a shoddy excuse post. Rinse, repeat. And unfortunately, this time isn’t any different.
In fact, it’s worse.
Scaly Summit is going on an indefinite hiatus. I have no idea if I’ll ever pick this story up again for a multitude of reasons. But if the stars somehow align I may get my act together, which is why SS isn’t outright cancelled. But yeah. I thought it’d be best if I gave some actual closure to this; my first side blog and askblog.
And now, to explain myself. Please bear with me 😅
What have you been doing?
School happened, graduation happened, and college is happening. So a lot of IRL stuff, basically.
But IRL things aren’t the only reason why I left the blog to collect dirt. Looking back on the older story posts…they stink. Really. I can’t draw humanoids for the life of me, even pizza-headed ones. If I ever come back to this, I want to release story updates that I’m actually proud of.
Will this blog be abandoned?
Not quite. While I certainly don’t have the time nor motivation to resume the story, I still had so many plans for SS that will sadly never see the light of day. But that’s unfair to me, and to you. Thus, I might just come back to this blog every now and then to share some concept art, talk about what could have been, or some other Pizza Tower related doodles.
Do you have any plans for other Pizza Tower related content?
No, not really. Pizza Tower was a hyperfixation of mine when I first made this blog, but that fixation has since faded. Don’t get me wrong: I still like Pizza Tower and all of the lovely AUs/askblogs that others have created. Heck- if it wasn’t for a few of them, this blog wouldn’t have been made in the first place. But that’s a story for another day. My brain just wants to focus on other games instead.
If you still have any questions/comments, I’ll answer them to the best of my abilities. Just send an ask, or comment! Simple as that :)
…aaaand done! Sorry for the yap session. I just felt so guilty leaving this story behind when it had hardly begun. To those who made it all the way to the bottom (and to those who just skipped to the end), thank you. Really. This was, and still is, a passion project at the end of the day, and I’m glad to be sharing it with at least one other person.
Even if we didn’t go far, I thank you for coming along for the ride.
— Drako

My Ideal Role as a Nature Interpreter
Nature interpretation is about building connections between people and the natural world, between facts and emotions, and between curiosity and understanding. To me, being a nature interpreter means not only sharing knowledge, but also inspiring a sense of stewardship and wonder in others. My ideal role as an interpreter would hopefully blend my passion for the natural world with my love for teaching and creativity, and it would be rooted in fostering meaningful experiences in nature.
The Role
In my ideal nature interpretation role, I would work in a protected area such as a national park, marine protected area (MPA), or wildlife sanctuary somewhere here in Canada. I envision guiding small groups of visitors on interpretive hikes, tidepool explorations, or wildlife viewing excursions. These experiences would allow me to help people connect with their surroundings on a personal level, whether that’s identifying animal tracks on a forest trail, admiring intertidal species, or listening to the unique calls of birds as the sun rises.
Beyond in-person interactions, I’d also want to engage with a broader audience through social media. Creating accessible, interesting, educational content—such as blogs or videos. I think this could help extend the reach of interpretation to people who are unable to visit these places in person. A hybrid approach would mean I could ensure that nature’s stories are shared widely, and inspire diverse audiences.
Skills and Expertise
To thrive in this role, I think I’d need a mix of scientific expertise, communication skills, and creativity. My education thus far in biological sciences and zoology has provided me with a solid foundation in ecology and animal behavior, while my interest in conservation also keeps me learning. I do recognize technical knowledge alone isn’t enough though. Interpretation is sort of about storytelling. It’s like taking complex concepts and translating them into narratives that resonate emotionally with people.
Public speaking, leading activities, and guiding groups would be essential skills for me to lead engaging programs. Interpersonal skills are essential. Being approachable and enthusiastic would help me create a welcoming atmosphere where visitors feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their thoughts. Creativity would also play a big role too I believe — designing interactive activities, coming up with memorable metaphors, or even incorporating art or music to appeal to different learning styles.
Additionally, I’d definitely need to polish my practical skills like time management, adaptability, and conflict resolution. Outdoor work clearly involves unpredictable variables — weather changes, diverse group dynamics, and wildlife that doesn’t follow the script, etc... The ability to stay flexible and upbeat is key!
The Impact
By helping people connect emotionally with nature, I would hope to inspire a sense of responsibility for its protection. That’ll always be the main goal. Whether I’m introducing someone to their first glimpse of a moose in a wetland, or explaining the delicate balance of a coastal ecosystem, I’d want visitors to leave with a deeper curiosity, respect, and appreciation for the natural world and their place within it.
Being a nature interpreter is so much more than just sharing facts. It’s about awakening curiosity and empathy. My ideal role would combine fieldwork, education, and creativity to cultivate meaningful connections between people and the environment. If I can tailor my skills and passion to this vision, I’d hope to make a lasting impact on both individuals and the landscapes they come to love.

CONTENT WARNINGS: suicide, child death, explicit sexual content, reference to pedophilia, homophobia, rape fantasy, abuse, rape of a child, threat of rape
OVERVIEW: This is the third book in my Halloween Historical Romance Project 2024. I'd never read anything by this author, so it was something of a risk. I also think it's funny that I picked it up after I read Erica Ridley's Too Wicked to Kiss - the premise of both books have a lot of similarities. But unfortunately, Bowlin's book wasn't as enjoyable. Though it had an interesting premise, the writing style and narrarive progression were just not engaging. The characters also felt flat and out heroine was lacking a lot of agency. Thus, this book only gets 1.5 stars from me.
WRITING: Bowlin's prose is about what you might expect of the romance genre. That's not a bad thing: I think people who love the genre will feel like it's familiar, and it's important to write for your audience.
However, there were some elements that made style not very engaging for me. For one, there was quite a bit of head-hopping within chapters, and though it wasn't difficult to follow the switch in perspectives at first, it did get frustrating, especially when there were only a couple paragraphs per perspective and we get perspectives beyond that of the hero and heroine.
For two, Bowlin relies on a lot of telling, explaining things through dialogue instead of setting up the scenes or crafting exposition. The dialogue thus felt unnatural and overexplained things for the reader's benefit, and dialogue seemed to outweigh prose.
For three, Bowlin repeats a lot of the same descriptions, especially in the intimate scenes. While a little repetition here and there is ok, I was jarred by the use of the same phrases over and over.
PLOT: The plot of this book follows Emme Walters, a well-born lady with the ability to communicate with the dead. Emme has been invited to a country getaway by the Dowager Duchess of Briarleigh in hopes that Emme can use her abilities to help her son, Rhys. Rhys has been the subject of rumor for some time, with many believing that he killed his late wife. But as Emme begins to untangle what happened, she finds herself targeted by someone who wants to keep the secrets of the dead buried.
The structure of the plot was unfortunately not very conducive to getting me excited about the central conflict. We begin the book with a scene of sexual tension between the protagonists, which means we're being asked to be invested in their connection before we get to know the characters or, really, where they are. It doesn't get much better from there; characters don't really get scenes that establish who they are and what they mean to one another. We are simply thrust into a country gathering with only dialogue to fill us in, and it doesn't exactly work because we don't really experience emotions with our characters. We are really just meant to accept what we are being told.
Scenes are also very short and some do very little to advance the plot or character development. We never really got an extended scene, which meant that it feels like we're flicking through vignettes instead of building a sustained narrarive.
But by far the greatest sin this book commits is that it is barely interested in the central premise at all. The majority of this book is concerned with describing parties, describing Emme and Rhys going about villages and towns, having sharp discussions with relatives, etc. The fact that Emme can see ghosts barely registers and there is no urgency to uncover who is responsible for multiple murders. As a result, this book was exceedingly dull most of the time, and the mystery of who the murderer was was not developed in any interesting way.
CHARACTERS: Neither Emme nor Rhys seem to have much personality nor do they have personal arcs that are compelling. While we get little nuggets here and there, these characters don't really change and not much ado is made about their flaws and ambitions. They simply seem to go through the motions and act in fairly predictable ways.
Emme never seems to be too hung up about her clairvoyance. She's not very disturbed by her visions or her sleepwalking, and even though she reasons someone is out to kill her, she doesn't seem too concerned about it since she has to go to parties and shopping and such. She also doesn't have a while lot of agency, serving as a passive vessel for ghosts and being a damsel in distress more than once.
Rhys is also rather boring. He doesn't have any angst about his dead wife or the fact that society thinks he's a murderer. He's just an all around fine dude who always acts gallantly with Emme. Snooze.
Side characters were also dull in that they were just there to be rather irksome. Relatives would make snide remarks at the couple, so it felt like their presence was intended to provide artifical conflict. Even Michael, Rhys's friend, was a little dull, and he probably had the most interesting backstory of anyone.
ROMANCE: The romance between Emme and Rhys was just as lackluster as the main plot and character arcs. I honestly did not see why they were drawn to each other - they merely seemed to be physically attracted and suddenly, that turned into love. There were very few scenes of emotional intimacy and by the end, I wasn't convinced they had any genuine connection. It just seemed like they were horny and got together because they "never experienced a reaction so strong before" in one another's presence.
TL;DR: The Haunting of a Duke is neither a good romance nor a good mystery. The writing style relies too heavily on telling, the heroine has no agency or personality, and the romance feels less like intimacy and more like pure lust from start to finish.
