"You can live a normal life. Fall in love."

I think this scant piece of ranting says a LOT about how Bruce sees Batman. It's not just a duty. It's a curse. Your blessings are also your damnations. Bruce thinks that you cannot fall in love while you are a vigilante (despite COUNTLESS EVIDENCE THAT DISPROVES THIS - Dick and Babs, Clark and Lois, Ollie and Dinah, etc.)

But Bruce has a very myopic viewpoint that leads to a self-fulfilling prophecy. He hasn't had success in romance as Batman. It's Batman's fault. He can't give up Batman. Ergo, he cannot 'find love' in the nuclear family, heteronormative sense because of Batman.

Let's look at the three 'greatest loves' of Batman's life according to his and Ghostmaker's trip into his psyche.

Selina Kyle. Talia al Ghul. Poison Ivy.

I'll work backwards. Ivy is a placeholder because she was never really his. She never loved him, and his love for her was chemically induced. But he has her there, why? Maybe to say that it doesn't work out because she chose someone else.

Talia. The mother of his child who is also the Demon's Head. It would never work because of his strict code against killing and her ambivalence towards it. Ironically, they have the healthiest relationship imo that probably was born from necessary co-parenting. While they don't care for what the other does, they respect and care for each other and have deep history. He thinks if he can't make it work with the mother of his kid, who can he make it work with?

Selina Kyle. Probably the closest (at this point in canon) Bruce has ever come to having a relationship that works. But every time it looks like it'll be a sure hit, something gums up the works. Most of the time, it's each other as there are key aspects of their identity that neither are willing to compromise for. And usually, when there is a compromise, it's usually on Selina's part whereas Bruce can continue being Batman. That puts a huge power imbalance in the relationship. It doesn't work out because Selina will always be drawn back to crime, and Batman will have to stop her. Bruce supposes that's what you get for falling for a criminal.

In all three, Bruce creates logical reasons why Batman is incapable of having a relationship and uses that to justify why he cannot have romance in his life. Why having this duty is a curse. Why he is showing love by getting his kids 'out' of the life, through whatever means necessary.

However, with Selina taking a chunk out of crime through a grey method, she is pulling at a foundational aspect of his personality - I'd argue the safety net Bruce created for himself when he was that boy in the alley - and, in turn, making the Batman/Zur persona go nuts. Zur sees her methods not a way to help Gotham but as an attack on him since, if this can save Gotham what is the point of Batman? What was the point of Bruce's vow? What was it all for?

Zur is giving Bruce a reason to keep going, to keep putting on the mask, so he doesn't have to confront what's under the mask when there's no crime to fight. To deal with his personal life and relationships and mhi that need to be dealt with.

And Selina and the Batfamily are right, this shouldn't have turned into a war. They shouldn't be fighting. This is an unforseen side effect of them fulfilling Bruce's wish which is to make Gotham safe when, in reality, maybe thats not what Batman wants because what safe Gotham would need Batman?

Almost like when in Infinite Crisis, Superman of earth one asks his earth two counterpart: "if your earth was perfect, why did it need a superman?"

A safe Gotham doesn't need a Batman and, after all the stress and trauma Bruce has suffered since he put on that cowl, he is not ready to hang it up. It is his burden and his joy. As much as he grouses about the crime and how much work it is to keep Gotham 'clean' he hates sitting on his hands with nothing to do.

Ironically, Batman of Zur En Arrh reminds me of what happened to Robin in Teen Titans Go! in 'Uncle Jokes' when Starfire started acting like Cyborg and Beast Boy, breaking the natural order of how he saw the world and making him go cuckoo. The same thing is happening to Bruce.

He needs to realize that he can still be Batman but he can also not be in control. That Bruce is the one stopping him from finding 'love' in a traditional sense, not Batman. That he has love and a family and he does not need to keep pushing everyone away because he thinks it's better for them and he knows best.

Batman is Gotham's greatest hero, Bruce Wayne's love, but he's also Bruce's greatest rogue. Duality.

he softens at the sighed out apology, couldn't be more endeared. he moves to sit up beside you, kneeling almost.

"don't be." he reaches for your wrist & massages at your knuckles, kissing the back of your hand.

"bruce... ah-"

he takes your fingers to mouth, a haphazard clean up. drool from his tongue winds down in rivulets, from fingertip to palm. he eyes you as if to challenge. all he sees is your mouth parting in a small whimper.

he sets it down when it's clean of you, humming as the digits leaves his mouth. he savors it, of course, drawing it out slowly from where they're flush to his mouth. first your knuckles, then the middle, then out comes your fingertips, shining with his spit. he licks his lips, leaning down to give you a kiss sweeter & softer than spun sugar.

"my little love," he murmurs against your mouth. "got a cramp, did she? tsk, tsk..."

he breaks from the kiss then, grinning down as he kneels, moves over & sets a hand on your inner thigh. his fingers drum against the skin, impatient, crawling closer & closer to where you want him. the bed dips to receive the weight of him on his knees.

im just tryna find movies about schizophrenia man

1. from the search "movies about schizophrenia" the first one suggested is "Split" which isnt about schizophrenia at all, but instead a horribly sanist and inaccurate movie about someone with DID being the literal villian in a horror movie (from what ive seen in the reviews by people with DID)

2. the second suggested is "Fear of Rain" i havent seen this and would love to hear any schizophrenic persons opinion on it, but based on how inaccurate and offensive the first movie is, im a little hesitant about this

3. under the section "top picks for you" the first movie is "Girl, Interupted" and from my memory of watching this as a teenager this movie heavily romantisizes mental illness, and each character is one mental illness and like thats their entire personality, super inaccurate to my experiences in psych wards

4. the second movie under "top picks for you" is "A Beautiful Mind" i watched this as a teenager, forgot most of it, tried to watch it recently with my partner cause its actually based off a real persons life but it was entirely too straight for me, also i really dont like pick up artists or people who see dating as a game or an equation you can solve and thats heavily featured in the film so i stopped watching

all this to say i really dont trust google to tell me what good movies there are about schizophrenia, or with the main character being schizophrenic. so if any schizophrenics know any good ones id love some suggestions! i can handle depictions or delusions, hallucinations and even horror/thriller elements (as long as the schizophrenic person isnt like a killer or something)

Helluva name for an ep! I'm thinking it's a trifecta: 

Steph dealing with her father - again, though hopefully less heartbreaking than last time; maybe something happens and he comes around to her way of thinking ie. her mom needs professional help. (I hope Steph gets someone on her side) 

Duela's mom visits her for her birthday - she got out of prison, maybe escaped? Or maybe Duela goes to visit her for her birthday. Either way, Duela's mom reveals The Joker is not her father. (I'm still on the Duela Dent train but I don't know if they'll reveal that as well; if Duela's father is fugue!Dent, her mom might leave clues for her to figure it out for herself which would mean a second reveal maybe at the end of the season, maybe just before or after Harvey's Two-Face incident leaving a cliffhanger for season 2.) 

Harvey encounters his father. The way it's worded - 'collision course' - is intriguing. Will he encounter fugue!father? Will fugue!Harvey encounter his father? Did he think his father was dead? We've only had scraps of his past and whatever the comics say, GK is doing it's own thing so who knows what could happen. If his father is alive and it's a surprise maybe fugue!Harvey will kill him? But there's still the possibility that fugue!father is in league with the owls somehow (how else would they know about the piano trigger? Unless fugue!Harvey himself gave it to them..) 

I love the crew's passion for creating this story! They care about good storytelling, they care about the details, they want to entertain and surprise us! They're taking the best bits of the DCU and giving us something new! I'm very excited for the possibilites of this ep. This story continues to keep me guessing, has me caring about the characters, and keeps me invested in how things will unfold.

After three episodes, I have a pretty strong feeling as to the direction in which they’re taking Turner’s character...

I guess I’ll start by listing a few facts about the assembly of pictures following that one of Turner:

- On Earth-3, where Duela Dent (daughter of the Jokester and Three-Face, adopted daughter of the Riddler) exists, she ends up dating that Earth’s version of Robin, known as Talon, who is the partner of that Earth’s Batman, known as Owlman. Earth-3 is an Earth of opposites, where good is bad and vice versa.

- The Talon assassins were chosen from the young ranks at Haly’s Circus to train and become assassins for the Court

- Nightwing (pictured in the bottom right corner of the third picture) aka Dick Grayson was SUPPOSED to become a Talon, but Bruce Wayne swooped in and adopted him before the Court could get their hands on him

- The man in the fourth image (I believe could not be him though) is an ancestor of Dick Grayson known as William Cobb who, not only killed many Wayne ancestors since his induction into the Court back in 1901, but ALSO tried to recruit Dick to join him many times

In summation, I think Turner might not become the next Batman, but rather create a new superhero identity using the Talon alias or something akin to it (maybe he becomes Owlman, I don’t know). It would make sense given they say Turner and Duela hint at a romantic relationship, and Turner is a ward adopted by Bruce at a young age in place of other potential character choices like Dick or Jason or Duke. I also believe the Talon that he’s fought so far in the show is related to him.

he didn't ― doesn't ― want to wake you up. but you're just so soft, so warm. the way your nightgown hides & shows your skin. the way your thighs plush & pull when it recieves the grip of his hand. the dips & curve of your hips, your chest, your shoulders. he hugs you close, your back to his chest. he can feel the expand of your lungs. you're alive. alive. alive.

resolve shatters in less than two seconds with just four words. he jackhammers against you, fast & hard, pulling & teasing. he nips at your shoulder, his whines & groans no longer contained behind the bite of his teeth. he's whispering sweet nothings & loving words into your ear. you reply with a moan, gasping when he grips your hips & thighs tight.

the heat curling & writhing in his belly engulfs him far too soon. the pins & needles at the base of his spine going from there to the ends of his legs. he's groaning as the last of his strength leaves him to spill out in a mess on his boxers & sheets.

he's gasping for air for all of a minute. weak in the knees though he was, he had a fucking job to do. he's had his fun but it's far from over.

"honey," he asks. "lie down for me... please, my sweet girl."

he kisses your cheek before crawling down & down & down, huffing a breath against your skin as he settles his cheeks to be cradled between your thighs.

Still so mad that Tim went back to Robin while Damian is off doing whatever during his solo run. I think Tim should get a new identity and do his own thing finally.

In the meantime, I think comics should go back to have the Signal as Batman's primary sidekick. Not only because are Dami and Duke good brothers and therefore Damian would appreciate this more, but also it would mean both Damian and Tim get the opportunity to better explore who they are away from Batman. And it wouldn't gloss over the fact that Damian is gone from the current batman comics run instead of just making it feel like we've gone back to before Damian was a thing?!? AND I think Duke wouldn't put up with Bruce’s shit. He's got this.

Plus more Duke content is always good for me <3
