Captain Marvel, new Den-Mother (despite the fact he himself is a child even if the league isn’t aware of that fact) for the Young Justice team blinks. Klarion, so-called chaos lord, blinks back in the middle of a spell. 

He tilts his head. The other baby realms-being mirrors him. His own magic-fueled core pulses, and a chaos-core vibrates back. Oh. Ah. So that’s what’s happening. 

“They can’t play right now,” he explains to the barely-younger ancient-in-training, ignoring the team’s incredulous looks at his words with the practice of someone who had to deal with the voices of gods all the time. And Batman’s narrowing eyes. Scary. 

The chaos-core thrums in a distinct pouting-sensation, alongside a whine unique to young ghostlings. A whine that he replied with, even if only they could hear. Come play later, busy now, he insisted again, even if Klarion’s pouting was turning visible before it shifted to a scowl. 

“Fiiine…” And then the chaosling was gone, his familiar with him. Billy really wished he could join in disappearing, seeing the info-hungry look in the others’ eyes.

Dick: I think he was going to go somewhere with Jon and Billy.

Bruce: Oh, okay.

Jason: Pretty sure they were going to an art museum.

Damian: Oh, we’re definitely going to the Sistine Chapel next.

Captain Marvel & The Switched Minds Trope

Have y'all ever seen that episode of Justice League Unlimited where Lex Luthor switches minds/bodies with the Flash and a whole bunch of shenanigans happen? Yeah, I barely remember it, I need to do a re watch of the show some time, but it gave me a neat little idea.

What if that trope was used for Captain Marvel, with one of three people

Batman

Black Adam

Mr. Mind

If Captain Marvel switches bodies with Batman, imagine the hilarity if it happens while they are out of costume. Billionaire Bruce Wayne suddenly being mind/body swapped into the body of 10 year old homeless kid Billy Batson, and each of them having to navigate a day like that. Bruce wouldn't be happy, but at the very least he'd get a day of returning back to his childhood, getting to be a kid for just a little bit again. Or. We could go for the route where they mind swap while in costume, and Batman in Captain Marvel's body tries to investigate who his secret identity is, all the while hating that Captain Marvel in his body and making himself look like a fool in Gothom. (Which then results in a Batman (Captain Marvel) in Fawcett and and Captain Marvel (Batman) in Gothom. Ohhh, and the delicious angst of when Batman says shazam and finds out about Billy Batson!

If Captain Marvel switches minds with Black Adam, there are just so many fun and dark opportunities to show off just how malicious Black Adam can be once he has his hands on the powers of the Champion of Magic, even if just temporary. He'd wreck havoc and become a tyrant, striking terror into the world and earning the concerned and anger of the Justice League, who are under the impression this is still the real Captain Marvel. Black Adam won't even try to lie and attempt to remove them from his path, but when his fist is met with his own, Black Adam will learn the true meaning of never underestimating your opponent, especially yourself. Could definitely bring in some possibilities like showing off how strong Billy Batson is and a cool identity reveal.

As for Mr. Mind, I'm really interested in seeing a mind swap happen with him. Seeing as how their bodies and selves are drastically different, and how his mind control powers could be a factor in this. Kinda like that Kafka situation, if i remember the name right, there could be some amazing parallels of written well enough.

Billy in Mr. Minds body trying to warn the JL of Mr. Mind's plans, but, he is but a worm. He'd have to rely on using Mr. Mind's monstrous powers to relay the information needed, and maybe get the help of a certain pair of supersons (Tiny worm and tiny super powered children team up). Mr. Mind in Captain Marvel's body would be....

A threat.

Oh, there's also the option of Billy swapping bodies with Lex Luthor. Haha. Now THAT would be a rollercoaster of fun.

Anyways, that's all my thoughts for now, and just me saying that I really want to read/write a fanfiction where Captain Marvel (Billy) mind swaps with someone. Might not have expressed everything that I wanted to say correctly, but it's late right now and I am full of oatmeal, so I'm quite sleepy.

Tim is perfect the way he is and dosen't need power ups or to get 'punished' for the oh so horrible crime of being a realistic teenage boy,he's not JUST huge a loser or a super cool dude but both at once and it's bad writing and fetishistic to ignore his wide range of relathionships that consists of mostly of women to make him a 'guys guy'

Stephanie is heavily autistic and bpd-coded so she's far from a 'normie',much less an 'it girl' but people see blonde hair and blue eyes and throw away everything else about her because that's all she's worth to them or call her an abuser and a pick me just like they do irl bpdtistic women and she's also canonically pastel/indie punk and a Team Mom but gets her presentation switched to basic and made out to be a womanchild instead

Cass had a million times more moral conflict than Jason ever did,would never in her LIFE wanna be feminine even in the chinese way and would be butch in it instead,turning her scattered speech into sign language is ableist not unlike(but not on the same level as)changing Babs' type of wheelchair disability and she'd be a better Batman than any male character in existense

Duke is only a golden child in the sense he has a yellow motif and is as disruptive and authentically quirky as his siblings,We Are Robin is a better team than the canon Outlaws,his powers are cooler than any Al-Ghul ones you could come up with,he has more femme energy than Tim does and Carrie Kelley ain't shit and only gets brought back to replace him because DC is antiblack

Damian's introduction mentality was a result of not only child abuse but also psychological grooming to get him to dehumanize himself and all his bigoted comments are explained either by him being like 12 or his writers trying to demonize brown people and anybody who thinks he's a bad person is a super-sized pissbaby with no sympathy for kids of color,shipping him with Jon is making a bisexual man into a ped0phile and Jay is good even if aging Jon up wasn't and he should be friends with Maya,Suren,Nell,Colin,Kathy,Maps,Tai and Miles,Gwen,Peni,Pavitr,Hobie and Margo from Atsv and Nico and Hazel from Pjo instead of Billy Batson or Danny Fenton or ANY Mcu characters

Talia is super hot but should be drawn in accurate arab clothes instead 'sexy assasian gear'(not that these two can't co-exist but you get what i mean),her personality is extremely rich and her stories are mega interesting,she's a good mom to Damian and literally never 'took advantage of Jason' seeing as That Scene In Lost Days was decanonized by it's writer who said it was ooc for her on his part,she should've been a mom figure to Stephanie in her Robin Days too since they would get along and she deserved her own run where she takes over Lexcorp to transform it into a force for good and become Superfam-adjacent to free herself from having only male connections

Ngl this was kinda crap.

However you were expecting your day to go, having your boyfriend Billy burst into the room with mischief written in his eyes as he moved himself behind you, his boyish laughter filing your ears, most certainly wasn’t on the agenda.

‘What’re you doing?’ You asked, looking over your shoulder at the smiling boy, smiling yourself as a result of how infectious his happiness was to you. ‘Hiding.’ He responded as his eyes remained glued the way he came; his hands resting warmly against your shoulders as his front was pressed firmly against your back as though he couldn’t get any closer. You found it highly endearing when Billy got the time to be in touch with his inner child, it made him look a lot more young and youthful from the boy with the rough edges you were introduced to.

You sighed, ‘what did my fugitive of a boyfriend done now.’

Billy looked at you, taken aback, but you knew it was all fun and games because with you, your boyfriend tended to act a tad more dramatic and carefree then usual. ‘Why you already speculating that I did something wrong? I could be playing hide and seek with Darla for all you’re aware.’ He huffs, dropping his chin fully on to your shoulder, giving you the chance to plant a kiss to his cheek, chuckling.

‘How dare I accuse you of such a vile thing, you’re just a big ol’ baby who can’t hurt a fly.’ You playfully cooed, moving your body so that you were forward facing him before reaching your hands to pinch at his cheeks much like a grandmother would but much softer. Billy groaned, trying to pull away but your hands merely followed after and after a couple of tries, Billy gave in to defeat and allowed you to continue pinching at his cheeks; that was until his eyes peered back the way he had came and spotted Freddy in the doorway, filming everything on his camera, smirking.

‘This’ll make for great blackmail material, thanks for lending a hand y/n.’ Freddy said smugly.

Billy’s eyes widened as they darted from you to his brother, then back to you again. ‘You’re helping Freddy?’ He asked incredulously. You merely shrugged, ‘it’s only fair that I lend him a hand after you glued pink glitter to his batarang replica.’ You reminded him, crossing your arms over your chest as Freddy only smirked like a smug cat at Billy from behind your back, though not before flipping him off when the subject of his beloved replica was brought up.

‘But I’m you’re-.’ ‘Don’t you use the boyfriend card with me Batson.’ You abruptly cut him off before he could finish his sentence, reprimanding him like a mother would with a disobedient child. ‘It’ll get you nowhere.’ Billy’s head perked up with an idea came to him, not knowing whether or not it’ll work but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to at least give it his best shot into getting back in your good graces again.

‘Not even if I asked you whether you wanted to see that new movie that’s debuting at the cinema tonight?’ He asked and Freddy groaned. ‘That’s cheating! You can’t just weasel your way out of this! Besides y/n is strong enough to resist your temptations! Right y/n!’

‘Y/n?’ Freddy tried again when you didn’t say anything.

‘Well…we haven’t been on a date for some time now…’ you muttered under your breath.

‘Really!?’ Freddy exclaimed as now it was Billy’s turn to act all smug as he tossed an arm over your shoulder, drawing you into his side. ‘What happened about our plan in getting even!’

‘Sorry Freddy.’ You said sheepishly, rubbing your arm.

‘I’m not.’ Billy said, rubbing his victory in Freddy’s face. ‘what’s the score now? Billy 2, Freddy 0?’ He made a face of false thought before looking entirely too pleased with himself, ‘yeah that sounds about right.’ Billy then looks to you, squeezing your shoulder, ‘c’mon y/n, we’ve got a movie to watch.’ He said as he lead you both out of the room, leaving Freddy alone.

‘Son of a- wait,’ Freddy checked his phone when he remembered that he still had the video of you pinching Billy’s cheeks and began to smirk again as he looked in the direction you both left. ‘That dumbass, thinking he’s ahead and shit but when it is I that has the high ground.’ Freddy mused to himself, ‘I’ll let him live in his delusion for now, for it’ll only make my revenge all the more sweeter.’

Have you ever considered the HC of the Wizard being huge/bigger than most mortals, meaning that everything in the RoE is a much bigger size than the average mortal being, including Billy Batson. So when Billy becomes the champion of magic, he inherits the wizard's robes, which practically engulf the tiny baby boy in its cloth. When he sits on the Wizard's throne, he has to climb on top, but still ends up being very small in the large size of the throne. Kinda symbolic because Billy is just a child in the game of the divine and magical, and the shoes he has to fill are bigger than he is. It's his destiny and fate to be the champion of magic, giving more purpose for his champion form as Captain Marvel being necessary to help him reach the things he couldn't before (both physical and metaphorical).

Sorry, just had the image in my head of a small Billy Batson standing in front of a huge throne room in the Rock of Eternity and realizing the depths of his destiny.

This is a cool visual! I cant say id ever considered it before but it could be fun. Like the Rock of Eternity is made not just for adult sized people (which already makes Billy small in comparison) but for larger than life (but not giant) people.

And I love the symbolism of Billy needing to become larger than life himself to keep up with everything at the Rock. It also neatly aligns with my personal headcanon that Captain Marvel is taller and broader than even most members of the Justice League.

Billy is SO blorbo shaped. He is both my precious baby boy who has done nothing wrong, a perfect paragon of heroism, a deeply traumatized and messed up human and also a mature young lad. I want to protect him but I end up digging deeper into his psychosocial issues and making his living conditions worse and worse because I think it makes the contrast btw Bill and Marvel more interesting. Ya know, like a bad person. I want to protect him but also see juuuuust how far I can push him before he starts crying and biting people <3

Paisley Lore

So this is my baby boy angst dump, tw for hoarder lifestyle, abusive parent, claustrophobia, etc.

Paisley is/was the son of a severe hoarder. She wasn't ready to have a child, much less one that seemed to be progressing intellectually much faster than she was ready for. She ended up hiding him away to try and forget about him when he was about three, keeping him locked in a hidden compartment in her basement, in a room only about 3 x 5 feet big and a height of about 4 feet. He learned how to pick the lock from the inside, but terrified of his mother only left to collect a pile of comic books in the corner of the room, using a flashlight and his senses to lead him to it and back into the tiny room, where he would pour over the multicoloured pages, trying his best to read the bigger, blockier letters, particularly whenever the hero- Billy Batson- would transform. He wasn't even really aware he *had* magic, but whenever he could safely assume he had time to build, he would use whatever he could from around the basement to build little toys, using a simple "seek" spell like they had in the books. It was whatever he could pull from the comics that he would practice in secret in the basement, and whenever he heard his mother coming, he would hurriedly put them all away in a safe place so she wouldn't find out he'd been escaping the room.

He ended up forgetting to lock the door again once, so when his mother came to check on him, she started screaming at him. Paisley just broke down and cried as she tore apart the basement to see if he had taken anything before finding the toys he made, and breaking them in front of him before also tearing up the comics. In that moment, he said his spell "Shazam", as in crying for the books, but it resulted in him transforming into a teenage boy, still absolutely sobbing. His mother didn't have much time to react besides a scream, before he was summoned by the mirror just in time. Baby boy is so confused and dazed as his senses come about, but his clothes feel soft, he can hear murmurs of other people, and while its suffocatingly dark, he's not alone, and he feels ok with that. Once he comes out of his coffin and into the ceremony, its clear even the whispers are too much for him as he has to fold his ears down to avoid hearing everything. He ends up being overwhelmed and completely misses his name when its called, and doesn't leave with anyone when the room begins to empty, everyone following their new housewardens. He's finally left in the room, alone he thinks and sighs a little before Crowley addresses him. He's so confused at this point he just bursts into tears again. Crowley doesn’t know how to deal with it and just gives him a map and sends him to the nurses office, and the mirror reveals that Paisley belongs to Ignihyde. Paisley can't read a map so he just takes it and sits outside in the hallway crying until he passes out. Ortho ends up being the one to find him, take him to the nurses office, get him some glasses so he can see, and nobody is really sure if he's deaf, mute, both or just non verbal? So they show him a few signs, and Ortho escorts him back to Ignihyde so he can rest properly. Because Ignihyde is one of the smaller houses, they manage to give him his own room to live in. Ortho is VERY confused about the vital signs coming from this guy, but he figures he can address it later and talk to Idia about it.

i just remembered another small idea for de-aged billy thats been playing in my head

so like billy’s been very bitter around the league for the whole time they’ve seen him de-aged and end up taking him out of the watchtower for whatever reason (or he finds a way to leave himself if the league doesn’t let him because they think it’s unsafe for him or whatever) and villainous shenanigans ensue, theres a lot of damage and a very, very, scared child

of course our dear billy goes to help said child (maybe the league try to stop him since they don’t think he can comfort the child in his current bitter state but can’t really stop him?) and that’s the first time they really see captain marvel in him

like they’ve seen his physical similarities (eyes, hair, ect.) but now they see him put on a big cheesy grin for this kid, his posture becomes so much more open and friendly, and he just manages to look like he can handle anything despite the fact that by all means a boy so malnourished should not look that way

i also imagine that the way he talks suddenly holds so much wisdom and kindness (he was very mean to the league lol)

also it’d be so cool if the moment the child’s safe and out of sight he just switches up immediately and looks so weary and tired, the moment he notices the league so much as glance at him funny he switches again to super feral

De-aged Billy (but not really) is one of my favorite things ever, and it brings forth so many opportunities for this small child to open up and talk about his traumas and problems to the world. (Once more people has seen the newest movie I will be creating my own post about Billy's traumas and how they affect him despite being coined as the immature, childish superhero by every other superhero in his world.) But the beauty and tragedy about Billy having every opportunity and chance to open up and be vulnerable with others, is that he's too scared. Too convinced that what he wants to discuss isn't going to be important to others and that his problems are his problems alone to face and conquer, when he's just a kid. A kid who's grown up too fast for his own good.

I imagine if the league tries to keep little mortal Billy Batson in the watch tower, he'd definitely try and fly the coop. The zeta beams, trying to hitch a ride with another hero back home, or just straight up using a spell he saved to float in a hamster bubble back to Earth in space. (Superman stopped him from that last one).

Ultimately deciding on letting this small and feral child version of Captain Marvel outside in his own city for some fresh air is the smart decision. There may be some of his villains looking for him for any opportunity to strike at him, but I trust that the Justice League wouldn't leave him alone without a partner/chaperone, as they joked. It was supposed to be just Billy and Green Arrow accompanying him while things got sorted out.

Unfortunately Plastic Man hitched a ride on the zeta beam at the last second and completely threw plans WAY off.

They end up getting spotted by a villain, Dr. Sivana possibly, and things get messy, as you said. Green Arrow shoots down his mechanical dummies while Plastic Man deals with dangling the bald man upside down a lamp post. But the catastrophic effect to the clean and nice street was evident. Buildings were crashed into and torn apart by Dr. Sivana, nearly killing off innocent civilians, had it not been for Billy Batson guiding them to safety routes and easing their escapes.

In the chaos of it all, I like to believe that Billy will still find calmness and ease in it, after living a life so full of it for so long. He'd still remain focused, especially when he hears the cries of a familiar voice. A classmate.

They don't know that he's secretly Captain Marvel, and he doesn't know their name. But what does that matter? They're both kids. They're both too young for any of this to be happening to them. Guiding them away from all the falling debris and rubble, Billy keeps his classmate calm enough to bring them away from the dangers of the battle close to them.

Green Arrow and Plastic Man manged to shoot/sneak a concerned and worried look over to their supposed de-aged teammate's way, only to be surprised when they see that Billy is smiling as confidently and with his big cheesey grin as before.

That's when they realize. Even if it wasn't real or a moment in bad vision, it felt like Billy's shoulders were much broader than they seemed. Like the weight of the world was on his shoulders more than they should have been, but that the boy would never complain and only ask for more weight to hold in return. Just like their regular Cap.

It's strange. They never noticed this side of Captain Marvel before. They were meeting so many new sides of him in just one day, despite knowing him for years at this point. Just how much of their friend had they not known?

"Hey, come on, hold my hand! I'll get you out of this, maybe you'll still have time to help give me the math homework answers for tomorrow!"

"B-but! I'm too scared to move!! Everything is falling, a-and I-"

"It's going to be alright. You have to make the first step if you want to keep moving forward. I'll be with you, I promise. Let's get out of here. Together."

At the end of the terrible, no good, very bad day for Billy Batson, and Dr. Sivana is dealt with and his classmate is sent home to their family safe and sound, Billy just collapses, intending to hit the grass and sleep off everything, had it not been for the swift and caring stretched arms of Plastic Man catching him in time.

Billy wants to argue and maybe even tries to scratch at Plastic Man to let him go, but Plastic Man is already swinging and rocking him in the air in his super stretched arms, singing loudly and annoyingly an out of pitch made up lullaby.

Green Arrow gets them zeta beamed back to the watch tower before Plastic Man can start on the next chorus, but at least they were able to give the de aged Captain Marvel some free time for once (even if that was ruined halfway through).

Billy looks so peaceful and soft when sleeping. Malnourished and scruffy, yes, but right now, he was safe, and that was all that mattered. They'd figure out how to age him back to normal soon, and Billy would find a way to get out of this troublesome situation....eventually. But for now? Billy can enjoy this well-earned sleep.

Whew. It feels like I had a lot more to say than I thought, Markus.
