Funniest thing I’ve seen on tiktok are those sigma male boys getting mad that American psycho was written by a gay man and going “well I like fight club better” buddy I’ve got some world ending devastating news for you

Ya'll want to know the funniest shit?
I'm researching the era when Alastor was alive right now to get a better idea of both his character, the life he lived before Hell, and to hash out a backstory for him.
And so, apparently, Alastor lived through the Prohibition (which was basically the United States government illegalizing the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol because they thought it was the cause of a lot of domestic violence and child abandonment).
Alastor canonically died in 1933.
Do you know how long the Prohibition lasted?
From 1920-1933.
ALASTOR LITERALLY DIED THE SAME YEAR ALCOHOL BECAME LEGAL AGAIN. CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW BITTER HE MUST'VE BEEN?
The Prohibition officially ended on December 5, 1933, and now my headcanon is that Alastor died December 6, 1933. Literally the day after he could legally drink all the booze he wanted.
I am learning a LOT about New Orleans and the era Alastor lived through (including the gay community in the city at the time) which has been a lot of fun, and I just wanted to share that tidbit because it is so fucking funny to me.

I'm so tired of queer infighting... "What about he/him lesbians" "What about the creator of this flag" "What about aroaces in relationships" "What about them saying a slur" "What about-" YEAH WHAT ABOUT IT??? A homophobe isn't gonna give a fuck about all the minute little details theyre just gonna hate us all the same. "You're one of the normal ones" they're fucking using that shit to make sure YOU kill your other queers, and by the time you're the only one remaining, they're gonna kill you too. Get over it stop fighting. I fucking hate this community.
EDIT: I'm not sure how Tumblr editing works so no matter if you've already seen this or haven't seen it before, please check out this addition (on mobile rn idk how to link stuff to words). It's very important and I'm not going to take out the sentence it's referring to as it is a mistake I made and I will not pretend like it did not happen. Do not hate your community. I love this community.

It's so wild to me that as a community we're still so hostile to multigender and genderfluid people existing in gay and lesbian spaces.
You...are aware that people who are both men and women are allowed to be gay, right? And lesbian? Their other genders doesn't cancel their connection to womanhood, or manhood, or whatever else they id with. They are allowed to be gay despite their fem-alignment, and they are allowed to be lesbian despite their masc-alignment.
It comes from these weird online spaces that the standard to be gay or lesbian is to be a "non-woman" or a "non-man," which is inherently transmultiphobic and...extremely ahistorical. And completely misunderstands nonbinary identity. So if you're both then you just don't belong anywhere I suppose.

I laughed when Izzy gave Lucius the wooden shark and he said "actually i love this" because is like the perfect demostration that you can gave the gays anything, a rock, a piece of paper, and we will go directly to put it in our room or any place where we can keep it, and just admire it.

A character looks straight into the camera and says "I'm not interested in romance" and people will still say "No, it's not confirmed they're aromantic!!!" "They could change their mind!!!" "it's a challenge for them to overcome!!!" "They'll have character development that makes them fall in love"
It's like they are given the most blatant answer to a character romantic orientation and they actively ignore it. all the while all it takes is subtext for people to speak as if it is fact for a character to be any other sexuality.

ultimately when it comes to shipping and fandom space treatment of aspec characters i just don't accept "aro/ace people can still date/have sex" as an answer from nonaspecs. like yeah. mhm. okay. now i think we both know that you're not saying that out of real interest in the diversity of aspec experiences. so you can turn in your seventeen-page essay on why and how you plan to examine this character's aspec identity within the context of a romantic or sexual relationship complete with evidence from canon and peer reviews from multiple aspec people within the next week or i'm putting you in the pit from the edgar allen poe story

it’s wild how some people will be so ready to criticize cis gay men for saying misogynistic things about vaginas…until the topic of gay trans men comes up, and suddenly they switch to thinking it’s totally fine and natural and good for cis gay men to think vaginas are the ugliest grossest most repulsive things in the world. make up your mind, is it bad for them to think pussies are the boogeyman or not? (hint: it is bad, you’re just so caught up in your hatred of gay trans men that you can’t see the misogyny you’re excusing.)

The RuPaulication of being gay. The TikTokification of being gay. Both are the same, in a way that it also feels like capitalism taking over, where you've to buy certain accessories, like certain music, watch certain shows, dress a certain way to be Gay EnoughTM, and if you do not, then you're absolutely out of the loop and are not considered gay.
There's a lot I could say about it, especially about how it's very fucking American above all and based around English second of all, and third of all, I just can't stand a lot of pop music and I'm goddamn tired of every Cis Gay Over 30 either gasping at me for not listening to Cher/Beyonce/Insert Pop Artist or Cis Gay Under 30 gasping at me for not listening to Taylor fucking Jet Fuel Swift.
I'm so tired of "gay icons" being cis women that make music videos with huge rainbows and says performative shit that has Feminism 101 written all over it. I hate that being gay is an AestheticTM now. I hate that every queer has to have a common fucking vocabulary that's native only to English-speaking, online-dwelling, TikTok-addict people. It's so infuriating to be giggled at by people because you just don't fucking care about wearing certain clothes that THEY consider gay enough.
Seriously, I fucking hate it.
