DpxDc, A hypocrite's concern
A little thing I wrote about Jason and Danny interacting after Jason gets captured by the GIW:)
(Starts under cut because I accidentally made it long)
Jason didn't know what to think.
He had been walking to the bus stop to get groceries in his civilian clothes, when a white van with an obnoxious logo on the side drove by and snatched him off the sidewalk. They didn't even grab him. They just full on drove by with a giant net outstretched like some weird type of fishing to catch him.
They didn't knock him out, they hadn't seemed to find a need to, but they did call him several terms he never even knew existed. None came close enough to the net—which was made of a weird material that couldn't be cut with his smartly hidden knife—to be kicked, so he had resorted to calling them several lovely names that you could only learn by growing up in Crime Alley.
When the van full of Men in Black ripoffs finally stopped, he was loaded into a... cage? Like, it looked a bit like a cage, but it also seemed as if it was made of rubber or plastic, and its shape was also odd, like it was specifically designed for something that would escape a regular cage easily and this was their attempt to stop it. It had bars, sure, but they were at weird angles and constantly layered over each other.
The 'cage' was placed on a cart and wheeled inside a generic office building, but they didn't enter through the entryway, no, what kind of madman uses a door? They entered through the wall. The agents walked directly through the wall, wheeling him in after them, with no difficulty other than pressing a small button next to a random brick. The secret entrance led to an early 2000s sci-fi movie elevator, that had wires filled with a disturbingly familiar green, and a not-so familiar blue.
One of the agents leaned into the comm thing attached to one of the wires and murmured something that made the elevator start working.
The elevator reached what was probably the bottom of the Secret Evil Lair™, and opened with a hiss. The doors revealed a well lit hallway with white walls, floors, ceilings, and heavily reinforced doors. So, these madmen did use doors. It was modern, but in a way that would remind you of a rich person with no interior decorating abilities.
The disproportionately large number of bald men pushed the cage-cart down the hall. The second thing he noticed after the atrocious decoration was the eerie quiet. There wasn't any noise that you would expect from an evil lab, even when the agents walked it was difficult to hear their steps, while when they were outside every step they made would be heard, inside, it was as if they were in their element.
The cart stopped in front of a door with far more protection than the rest, it was dark gray with the blue accents, rather than the white and green of the others. One of the agents leading him turned to a keypad-looking thing and began typing. The door had two signs on it, seemingly to catalog what was held within, but only one had any writing on it, as if the information of the room's contents was incomplete.
"-Phantom-
-DP-001-
-Danger Class: 7-
-Ectoplasmic Strength: Level 4 (For lower level agents, the maximum is Level 5)-
-Power Set: On the DP-001 file-
-Experiment Notes: While testing, ignore any and all pleas for mercy, it is a manipulation tactic it utilizes often. Do NOT remove the muzzle, doing so will result in termination. Causing permanent damage to subject without instruction from an agent classed over Class 7 will result in termination.-"
Jason was able to read the entire thing while the agent was still typing in the code to open the door. When the agent finally finished entering the code, the door opened with the same hiss as the elevator, and revealed a decontamination chamber.
They threw him into the chamber, and quickly closed the doors behind him. The cage melted away, as if it were made of wax, leaving him standing free in the chamber.
The chamber began to fill with a blue gas that fell from the ceiling vents. Jason instinctively held his breath while reaching for his gas mask, only to realize he didn't have his gas mask. Which was not right, he knew he had his gas mask. No Gothamite leaves home without a gas mask. No smart one, at least.
The agents had somehow managed to remove all of his belongings without him noticing. His clothes were also different, instead of the outfit he had left the house in, he was wearing a white shirt, and white pants.
How the hell did they do this? Was the most coherent thought he could have, but it was short lived as the doors in front of him opened with the exact same annoying hiss as the last few.
Based on the sign, he was expecting some kind of cryptid, like a demon, or something. But rather, he was greeted by a short teenager with black hair and blue eyes. The boy wore the same white clothes as Jason, but he also wore a mask that covered half his face, but there was also a blue tinted glass that allowed him to see his mouth. He was working on something behind him.
The boy stared for a moment, before smiling and waving animatedly, like he hadn't seen anyone other than the agents in a long while.
"Hi! I'm Danny!" He said, even if it was slightly muffled, sounding something between being under a blanket and speaking through a fan, "Or Phantom. Or DP-001 or just 001, they flip flop between the last three usually, you?"
"...I'm Jason," He couldn't see why he shouldn't tell this kid his name, it didn't matter, the kid wouldn't recognize it, "Uh, how old are you?"
Danny paused before tilting his head and asking, "Hm, What's the date? I dunno how long I've been here."
"April 13th." He replied, not liking the implications of not knowing your own age.
"Oh! I turned 15 last week! What about you?"
That was way too young to be... where ever this is, this kid is a literal child.
"I'm 23." Again, seeing no reason to lie.
"Wow. You're old." Danny said with the typical teenage snark you'd expect from a fifteen year old, "Sorry, my friend used to say that whenever her parents made her socialize at rich people parties."
He filed away that information for later, even if "Rich people parties" is pretty vague.
"So, where are you from?" Jason asked, Small talk and gather info, he can do that.
He froze for a split second, before speaking, "Amity Park," The kid said, smiling, but in a sad, wistful way, "It's in Illinois."
So this kid was most definitely kidnapped, there are no doubts about that.
"I'd ask where you're from, but I kinda already know" Danny stated, "I saw you in the Gotham file back when I still tried to escape."
Still? They had a file on Gotham? Why? Why was he on the file?
"Oh, why do they have me in the file?" Subtle.
"Either you died and came back funky," He started, holding his fingers out to count on his hand, which was, just perfect, that this random shady group knows about that, "Or you have come in to contact with ectoplasm, the green stuff, or both! That happened to me."
There was a lot to unpack there, but begin simple.
" 'Came back funky' ?" That was a good place to start.
"Oh yeah, like, came back with powers, or with your body being in a better condition than while you were dead, or coming back after too long a time for it to be technically possible."
That answered nothing and everything.
"Actually, I don't even think they care if you came back at all," Danny said after he seemed to think about it for a moment, "Ancients know they only care about technicalities when it benefits them."
Every time the kid answers a question, ten more fill its place because of the answer.
It was a little hard to focus on his answers, though, because of how uncomfortable the weird new clothes were.
Wait.
"How did they get these clothes on me?" He didn't really want the answer, but he also didn't want to not have the answer. "I didn't even notice it."
"Oh! Did they bring you here in a cage?" Danny asked.
"Yeah, if you could even call it that."
"Well," He said, making a big show with his hands to enunciate his sentence, which made Jason notice the electrical scarring that lined his left hand, "I'm pretty sure the Guys In White made the cages out of some material that, when it melts, coats your clothes in some kind of ectoplasm, and then the gas basically breaks down the affected clothing, and replaces it. I'm still not sure how, though."
That, again, answered nothing and everything, but mostly nothing this time.

Honorary Member
Danny as a honorary member of the Outlaws, while Dan is an actual member.
The on going bit is Dan complaining about Danny working with the Outlaws cause 'you didn't even break any law why are you here?'
To that, Danny always replies with something like 'well I jaywalked today.' 'I'm an illegal entity, so.' 'ran a red light though.'
Then as a unexpected plot twist, the rest of the team discovers that despite their banter, Dan is the one with a spotless record, since his major crimes are committed either in another world or before he gets his human body/identity.
It's Danny that has multiple wanted posters in his name, as both Phantom and Fenton, across two realms even.

So we all know the common cult trying to summon Pariah Dark and getting Danny thing, but what if they knew about the switch? What if they knew that Phantom was a protector and not a tyrant? What if instead of summoning him for power and whatnot they summoned him under the impression that he wasn't aware of the Ant-Ecto Act and wanted to inform the new king so he could take action? What if they summoned Danny from a GIW lab and he went into his cracked core once safe? What if the cult now has to steal Lazarus water and purify it to help heal and save the Ghost King while JL, JLD, and the League of Assassins are hunting them down. The JL and JLD hunting them since they have outdated info on the Ghost King and want to stop Pariah Dark while the Assassins are after them for stealing the contaminated ecto?

Danny Phantom
Written by Jazz Fenton
Danny Phantom was a story that built a generation of superheroes.
It’s the story of a young boy that had power thrust upon him and he rose to the challenge. Him and his friends worked hard to keep their town safe no matter how crazy things got.
He fought monsters and gods and even kings but still struggled to balance school and protecting the town. His sister did what she could to help but it wasn’t until after she learned the truth behind his identity that they were able to truly bond as a family.
The story end with Danny going off to college after closing the portal forever. He would go on to be an astronaut and fulfill his dreams.
Jazz wished it was true. She wrote the Danny Phantom books so there would be a record of what her brother had done. That in some small way he would never be forgotten.
When she was in her late 30s, heroes came out into the light. It hurt to see them, they reminded her so much of her brother.
One day jazz, now 46, gets a call from a newspaper celebrating authors and they want to present an award to her in metropolis.
What she wasn’t expecting?
As they are announcing her award a new person comes on stage to present it.
Superman. He went on to say that the Danny phantom stories were part of what inspired him to become a hero “when he arrived on earth”
She felt a pang in her heart as he spoke, but when the flash, green arrow, black canary, green lantern and even Batman stepped forward to tell similar stories she could feel tears welling up in her eyes.
She manages to hold back her tears until she is at the podium looking at the bronze plaque with her brothers name on it.
The brother she hadn’t seen in almost 30 years.
She fell to the ground sobbing, the plaque clutched tightly to her chest.
“I’m so happy” she sobbed “I was so afraid this world would forget him, after everything he did for it.”
Jazz Fenton refused to elaborate. She couldn’t, other wise she would break the deal that kept peace between the realms.
The GIW saw no harm is foolish bedtime stories. They hid any and all proof that Danny Fenton otherwise known as phantom ever existed.
So long as he never returned, his friends and family would be safe.
Unfortunately for them, superman is one hell of an investigative reporter and he has the world’s greatest detective at his side.

The Worst Branch in the Country
The GIW knows Amity Park is a huge fraud. The “most haunted city in the US”, really? They’ve been checking the place out for decades with nary a peep aside from that couple of crazy scientists that moved into town around twenty years prior.
Because of this, the town became a punishment duty. One of their agents causes trouble? They get put in time out and sent to work for a while in Amity Park. Let those idiots chase after pointless rumors while the actually competent agents work with the more important ghosts. The reports back from the town get barely more than a cursory glance before getting tossed in the shredder.
…Which really came back to bite them when ghosts did actually start to show up, and they didn’t realize until after the Amity Park branch had royally screwed up the situation.
Fuck, they really hope this doesn’t start a war.
Optional DPxDC addition: they call in the Justice League Dark for help with negotiation and taking down their rogue members

DPxDC crossover but, instead of Danny being his ghostly-horror self, the justice league believe that he's just some guy.
Danny: *glowing eyes, sharp teeth, aura of eldritch being*
Villain: You're seeing this right?
Justice league: *turns around to find all the ghostly stuff gone* oh that's Danny *waves* hi Danny!
Villain: ...are you being serious right now?
It's not even that he's doing it on purpose, it's just anytime he does ghost things none of the heros are looking, and when they do have him in their sights he's just a normal person.
It probably wouldn't work for batman and his thousand cameras, but let's just say that it never got his attention cause no one in the league thought to mention it and the one time he did check it was just regular dude hours.
To the Justice league Danny is the humanist human to ever human.
Which is why they are so confused as to why this small branch of the government (mad scientist parents optional) is so sure he isn't.

Journalist Clark Kent was assigned covering the Ghost and Ectobeing Science Confrence. With the Anti-Ecto Acts having been repealed and the GIW disbanded late last year, the science deviated from weaponry and was now far more ectobiology and ecto-sociology centric. He was tasked with reporting the new scientific advancements and discoveries for the average layman.
The conference, hosted at Metropolis Convention Center, lasts an entire week. The unusually long conference length is explained on its webpage, claiming it’s; “precaution for potential delays or setbacks from; ghost attacks, enraged ex-government GIW employees, or extreme ecto-tech malfunction.”
Just from that notice alone, Clark knows he’s going to have quite the eventful week ahead of him.

DP x DC prompt [9]
Danny doesn't remember much of what happened after his fight with Pariah. he knows the suit nearly killed him.
He knew he passed out after and had to be carried back.
But considering the fact that the sky is blue and he's in his bedroom it was pretty safe to say that it was a classic case of a job well done and everything was back to normal.
The next day however, more and more oddities started happening.
No longer did Amity Parkers get assaulted by GIW warnings when they accessed the internet. Instead they just got… nothing, nada, zilch.
Did the GIW go all in and just disconnect them from the rest of the world completely?
But then it became clear that that was the case with everything. stores weren't getting any shipments.
phone calls would automatically say that numbers weren't in use.
packages and mail weren't being picked up.
Very worryingly, credit cards also stopped working and any attempt to contact the bank went utterly nowhere.
people gradually are starting to get more and more worried.
Amity was very independent and self sufficient but this was a bit much.
At the very least now the city was more open to the doctor's Fenton energy solution of simply using Ecto to power everything.
The guys in white didn't show up in the city anymore either.
The same went for the other out of town ghost hunters.
and after a quick check from Danny himself (as Phantom) he confirmed that the little not so very hidden base the guys in white had set up outside of the city borders was now simply gone.
Not only that but the roads going out of Amity also just suddenly stop.
At this point Team Phantom is starting to have a certain suspicion, and Sam asks Danny to find the nearest gas station and get them some newspapers.
Back home and now with a bunch of newspapers spread out over the floor with articles about Alien invasions in a place called Metropolis or the top floors of a skyscraper being blown up in a city called Gotham, they have enough to confirm their worries.
“Guys I think we got put back wrong”

Hunting
Damian and Danny are fraternal twins. Both are darker skinned, but Damian got more of Talia’s features while Danny had more of Bruce’s. Ignoring how they got separated and how Danny got to the Fentons, his exposure to ectoplasm, the accident, and ghostliness leeched his skin color to appear white/pale.
Later in Gotham he is seen by one of the Bats while civilian and they are concerned about the Bruce clone. Especially because they are covered in blood (not that they know it isn’t Danny’s blood).
Danny however is on a hunt. The GIW took Ellie and he had hit his limit with kindness or holding back. He may be rusty (he really didn’t get to use his training against the ghosts, they fought too different) but he didn’t forget his League training. He was getting back into shape though after dealing with the minor targets. It’s unfortunate that he needed to go to Gotham since he had no wish to see his bio father and twin but he would go through Hell to get Ellie back.

Amity is a Dimensional Dump
So! Amity Park is a hub of weirdness of all sorts, mostly undead, but there are also a bunch of Multiversal oddities connected to the small town.
There are the minor anomalies. 5th Street has a bad habit of slipping into the Backrooms, Old Lady Jenkin's House sometimes has snow in summer, and of course the Night Sky had a 20% chance of swapping views to another Galaxy. Danny likes that one a lot.
But the biggest Anomaly is how many Multiversal Travellers get lost there.
They are always finding somebody wandering the streets with no idea where they are, and have to help them find their reality of origin. Other times they decide to stay for various reasons, ranging from a bad home life to being the only survivors of a Dead Universe. Half of the population if Amity was made up of the descendants of Lost Travelers, so their DNA was really a mixed bag.
Danny was flying over town when he spotted a Blur on the ground below.
He flew down to intercept, and found a boy in red and yellow panicking over his situation.
"Hey! Can I help you?" He called out.
The boy looked up, and gasped "Are you a Hero? I need help getting back to the Justice League!"
Danny chuckled, "Which one?"
The boy looked confused, "The Adult One? I guess?"
"Not what I meant, sorry. I mean, which Dimension are you from?" He clarified.
"Dimensions? What is going on!?" He shouted.
"Okay, let's calm down and restart. My name is Danny, who are you?" He introduced himself.
The boy took a deep breath, calming himself, before saying, "Okay, my name is Kid Flash, but you can just call me Wally."

Can You Hold This For Me?
Jason is enamored as he watches a beautiful red head lady beat the shit out of the mugger that got too close for her liking.
He was on his way to the local book store to find a good read when he saw a woman with her month old baby being stalked by a man who was obviously hiding a knife in his pocket. Jason immediately crossed the street to put himself between them and the mugger when all of a sudden the man got a little closer and the woman executed a perfectly good roundhouse kick to the man's head while keeping her baby secure.
After the man's body bounced in the alley and hit a trash can she turned to Jason with a brilliant smile that did something to his resurrected heart.
"Can you hold this for me?" She asked before simply putting the baby in Jason's arms before he could reply.
She then proceeded to pick the man up, who was twice her size, and flung him further into the alley before running up to finish her beat down.
A noise brought his attention from the woman to the baby in his arms who was now up and cooing at him curiously.
"Your mom's hot."

"Unhand me!" The stabby robin shouted just before Danny deposited the colorful vigilante onto the floor of his parents' lab.
The bird boy was back on his feet in an instant and had he weapon drawn, glaring at Danny as if he were the source of all his life's problems. "Whoa, whoa, hold on a minute." Danny spoke up, hands raised in mock surrender, "I don't wanna fight!"
"Then why did you kidnap me?" Robin tracked the boys hand as it moved to rub the back of the teens' neck.
"Well, ya see -" the teen said nervously, "I saw how nice you were to that ghost bunny, and you hid it from Batman."
Robin tensed, "Are you blackmailing me?"
"What?! No! I wanted to ask for help! Somethings wrong with my dog!"

Did Danny abuse the fact the GIW needed his parents tech. Yes of course. Danny not phantom seemed to be the trouble maker as of late. His parent threatened to withhold tech and blue prints from them if the GIW touched their kids.
Did he get caught breaking ember and boxy out of a government facility? yes. He expected the lecture he got.
The next jail break. It was not him. It was sam, Then the third. Also not him. That was Val… then it was Tucker. But not him.
The blame fell on him.
He did not expect to be shipped out of state. The GIW were happy to cover all costs. Even got him into a decent highschool. And had an apartment all arranged.
Gotham?
Not where he was expecting.
The assassination attempts. Also surprising.
Not so surprising. Tucker found out the GIW wanted to “silence” him. Offering a lot of money.
Of course his parents don’t listen. He is 15 perfectly fine to be all alone. Even if he is near some place with the nickname crime alley. Nope. He is just being dramatic. They tell him no one wants him dead.

Danny may be on the run from the GIW and trying to lay low, but he still feels a need to step in and help people where he can.
Which included a sleep deprived teen in a Gotham cafe clearly struggling on some sort of engineering thing. Danny assumes it’s probably some sort of homework, and passes off a few suggestions before moving on.
And now Tim Drake is looking everywhere for whoever the fuck the teen was who randomly solved an engineering issue that’d been stumping him for weeks. He thought it’d be a just quick facial recognition search at first, but then it spiraled out. And the more he tries to dig, the more he gets a feeling that there’s something very fishy hidden behind the teen’s circumstances.

Prodigal son beyond time - Part 1
Ra's Al Ghul had a son. No, it's not Dusan we spoke of right now. Ra's Al Ghul's first born child was a peculiar boy that was forged by the Lazarus Pits—or so what he says.
Talia has never met her brother.
Her brother, it has been years since she's found out about him yet her father never gives them a name—he thinks them unworthy of it. Even if he was not present, her brother continues to be the favorite, to be the child their father praised most. His absence is a glaring hole in her father's heart (though she is not sure if he has one).
It is no secret amongst the league that Ra's nameless son was unofficially the heir, even when Damian was born.
Talia has doubted her brother's distance many times, and yet she finds evidence of him over and over again.
Her father writes letters, strange ones that vary in language, dialect, grammar, writing styles. She did not mean to read one when she was young, but she couldn't help herself when she had seen it.
My dearest, son of mine,
It has been an age since last I beheld your presence. I find it most disquieting that you have not seen fit to visit, though I am not ignorant of how poorly time aligns itself with your affairs. Yet still, I dare to hope that you might bestow upon me a portion of your time, if but briefly.
Your siblings have inquired after you once more. Yet I am acutely aware that it would be unwise to bind you to this mortal realm for too great a span. Their hearts, tender and unfortified, lack the endurance I possess to weather the long absences your path necessitates. Nevertheless, I am not blind to the hope you carry—to one day stand before them, whether that moment lies near or far in the veiled expanse of time.
She could not finish the lengthy letter before the letter vanished from her hand, a burst of green and strange liquid slipping from her fingers. Talia had been startled, too young, assuming that this was Lazarus water that has stolen her father's letter.
And she found her father looming behind her, his expression stern get there was amusement in his eyes.
"Your brother is a curious person." Her father hummed, "He's powerful."
"We are not... Allowed to meet him?"
"Not yet. Until you steel your hearts." Ra's nodded, "Your brother does not stay in one place for long. But he is soft hearted and loyal to the family. You give him reason to stay and he will stay."
His hand, firm and guidind, pressed against her shoulder in a tight grip. "And I will not let any of you weaken him."
On that day, Talia realized that her father truly did love her brother. In his own strange way.
The next time she reads a letter, Damian was but a babe of one, cradled in her arms as a letter written on green paper rested in her father's hand. It was open, the wax seal carefully sliced from the envelope.
"Father."
"Talia." He replied nonchalantly, eyes flicking to Damian, his eyes softening momentarily as a longing look slipped to the letter.
Talia's heart tightened, resentful that her father was beginning to see his favorite child on her own son. She could not allow that...
"Your brother has written to me. It has been... Almost a year... Since the last." Ra's hummed, turning to Talia, then Damian, before flicking yet another letter to her. It startled her.
"From your brother." Ra's sighed, "I made the mistake of writing about Damian and now he wishes to meet you first. Not Nyssa, not Dusan—you."
"My brother?" Talia hesitantly accepted the letter. "I do not even know his name..."
Ra's clicked his tongue, "He signed it in his name. You will know from that letter." He paused, glancing back at her. "You have yet to prove yourself worthy, Talia, but... Damian's birth will surely being your brother back home."
Talia's heart palpitated in her chest.
The prospect of her baby, her son, her child—the mere thought that her baby would be the thing that successfully brings her brother home was... Outstanding.
"Read it in your own time... After that, seek me out."
Talia does not know... What to particularly do...
But she takes Damian, watches as her father leaves, and hurries along to her own quarters.
Tumblr media
Talia tucks her son into the crib, narrowing her eyes at the nursemaids that were hired to nurture her son. She dismissed them immediately, watching as they silently leave the room. It is only when silence reigns does she takes a seat on her bed as Damian slumbers in his crib.
(Her hands tremble as the letter rested in her hands. It was light, not heavy, her her hands tremble as if she could not handle the weight.)
She takes in a deep breath, takes a dagger and carefully slices it away from envelope. It's intricately made.
The letter is written in the same green paper that her father received.
The letter read as thus:
My Dearest Talia, It would seem that I am now to be regarded as your brother, for Ra's has deemed me his son. Admittedly, this turn of events is of my own doing, as I endeared myself to him centuries past and found solace in his companionship, coming to view him as a father in truth. Yet you, his daughter by blood, remain a stranger to me, as do Nyssa and Dusan. How peculiar it is that Father should act in such a manner, withholding such introductions with his customary inscrutability.
She takes in a deep breath, awes by her brother's penmaniship... And then suddenly the writing style changes. Morphing from the olden age, the formality of a noble, to...
Anyways! Since you're my sister, I don't think I have to keep writing to you the same way Ra's does. It feels awkward to me, y'know?
She was not expecting that change but...
I've always wanted to meet you all. But my duties to my realm are hard. I can't freelt leave. It's especially worse since my world's time doesn't correlate to yours.
You might find the change of writing styles weird, but in all honesty, I'm from the 21st century. It's just that time never did agree with me. Had to comply with the old man on writing like that since he likes it. Weird, right?
But anyways! I heard you had a son! Congrats by the way. I'd like to meet him too, actually. Aside from that, I heard from Ra's you don't know my name.
Well, he's decided to call my Danyal as it's the Arabic version of my original name "Daniel". Though I often go by my nickname Danny. But it has been a delight to write to you, Talia. Hopefully, I'll be able to meet you and your son in the future.
Since you have my name now, you can write me letters too! It'll find me eventually.
Your brother,
Danny
Her brother's name was Danyal... Her brother went by Danny.
Talia blinked.
Her strange brother was a being that traversed through time, a person who was born in the 21st century... Her brother could be somewhere in the world in that moment and in another time the next.
She pressed the letter to her lips, unable to hold back her smile.
She had quite the silly brother...
And amongst her siblings, Talia was the first to know her brother's name. That bit about being able to write letters to him made her finally understand why her father was so possessive of a name.
(In the Infinite realms, High King Phantom received a letter from his estranged younger sister. He really didn't mean to find family in the Demon's head, but he found it anyways.)

Damian Wayne was like a duckling. A violent, stab-happy, danger-prone duckling, yes, but a duckling all the same. Which means when Danny almost got stabbed by a sleepy, instinct driven Damian, he was able to wave it off with a laugh. Damian, on the other hand, stared in horror at the butter knife firmly lodged in Danny’s arm.
“PENNYWORTH!” Danny jerked back at Damian’s scream. “RICHARD! FATHER!”
God damn, the kid had a pair of lungs on him. Danny’s wince was interpreted as pain to Damian, who gently grabbed his injured arm and started to pull him towards the kitchen’s marble island.
Danny blinked, non plussed as his hearing picked up a thundering of feet as the present family members scrambled towards Damian’s distress call.
“Wait, Damian, I’m fine. It’s-”
“You have been impaled, you imbecile! Had it been any of the other simpletons, they would have-!”
“Ouch.” Danny put his other hand in mock hurt over his slow-beating heart. He literally doesn’t care about the butter knife. He’s just impressed there was enough force in there to impale him. “Are you calling me names now? After- gasp- stabbing me?”
Before Damian could reply, the beginnings of regret, remorse, and guilt on his face, Alfred, Dick, and Bruce burst into the kitchen.
“What happened?!”
“My word, master Danny!”
“What is it?!”
“I’m fine. It’s like a small stab. Not even a big stab. I’m good.”
Dick paled, seeing Danny’s arm clutched in Damian’s hand.
“That’s- that’s a knife. In your arm. How is that ‘fine’?!”
“What happened.” Bruce asked Damian, gently removing Danny’s arm from Damian’s death clutch.
“I- I did not mean to,” Damian starts, guilt coloring his voice.
“He didn’t,” Danny cuts in. “I startled him and got stabbed for being dumb. I won’t fault him for having a defense mechanism like that, ancient knows what I might do if you guys startled me.”
The awkward silence that settled at his words made Danny twitch awkwardly.
“Uh, so, can I add this knife to my collection? Even if I didn’t get mugged?”
“Danny.”
“Bruce.” Danny stared stubbornly back. With his uninsured hand, he patted Damian on the head. He was going to enjoy the fluffiness before Damian’s guilt was no longer enough to hold him back from snapping at Danny’s hand like a grumpy alligator. Bruce loses, obviously. He’s a teenager who was also an ex-vigilante. Batman’s got nothing on a determined halfa.
“Master Danny, I must insist you refrain from getting stabbed. There is only so much gauze and antiseptic cream in the house.” Alfred returned- huh, when did he leave?- with a med kit.
Danny called bullshit because he knows there’s a whole ass medical bay beneath the manor.
“Sorry.”
“No need to apologize.” Alfred said, promptly beginning the extraction of the butter knife.
“Are you okay?” Dick asked, hovering worriedly. “He- are you…?”
Damian was allowing Danny to ruffle his hair, so…
“Yep, I’m good. This isn’t even on my top thirty most painful stabbings,” and it really wasn’t. That honor was given to the GIW and that one time Jazz accidentally stabbed him with her earrings. “That was pretty impressive, actually. It’s like, a butter knife. The other ones had pointy ends.”
“Do not clump me with those pathetic wastes of spaces. I am naturally superior and would… would never harm you on purpose.” Damian said, getting quiet at the end like he was trying to plead to Danny to believe him.
“Of course not. But- if you want help me keep the knife, you can hit me with a mug, it would technically be a mugging.”
The pun got the desired effect. Damian leaned away with a disgruntled look and Dick stopped hovering as close in order to let out a small cackle.
“Done.”
“You should go get changed, kiddo. We’re going to see Tim’s photography at the Gotham Gallery today.”
“Oh, for real?” Danny patted Damian’s fluffy hair one last time, pushing away from the counter. “Oh, I’ll clean up here first and-”
“That will not be necessary,” Alfred scolded, a mop somehow already in his hands. “Please see to it you are prepared for the day.”
“Thanks, Alfred. Can I keep the knife.”
“Very well.”
“Sweet. See you guys later?” Danny pranced off after seeing the nods.
——
“He’s… he got stabbed a lot. Before us, I mean.” Dick tapped a furious rhythm onto the counter. “Not that we’ve stabbed him until now but even once is concerning for a civilian.”
“He was used to it.” Bruce replied.
“Perhaps we should join Todd in his endeavor and ensure that his worthless tormentors are permanently out of the picture.”
“God, he said top thirty. He was counting.”
Damian silently withdrew a kitchen knife.
“No murder with my quality chef’s knives, Master Damian.”
“Tt.”
“Master Jason follows the same rules. Now, out of the kitchen. I may be old, but I remember the last time master Bruce and master Dick stepped foot in here and I will not have a repeat.”
