#he’s rambling again

few things bother me quite as much as claire being called owen’s love interest. it’s degrading. claire is clearly the main character of the trilogy, which is clear with any amount of analysis of the story’s structure. owen is HER love interest.

jurassic world opens up with her. it’s her family teasing her introduction, then it’s us following her day to day life. owen’s introduced through her. “I know who he is” she says with clear animosity. then, after we learn who he is, owen is brought into the story through her. she asks him to inspect the paddock with her. had this not happened, he would be irrelevant to the story until the third act. claire would not, because we’re following her perspective.

owen then leaves the story again when claire refuses to evacuate. he’s brought back into it again when claire decides she wants his help saving her nephews. claire is the driving force of the plotline ergo the main character. she is the one with an arc because the plot is her story of regaining humanity with love for the dinosaurs and her family. owen is there to back up this message by adding romantic love. his narrative is an extension of her overarching story being told.

in fallen kingdom, who’s perspective are we following? claire’s. owen is brought back into the story once again as a partner for her mission. zia and franklin are HER team. the dinosaurs are HER redemption. eli is HER betrayer. it all revolves around her as the main character of this story. without her influence, he wouldn’t be on the island. but we’d still be following her mission there.

which dynamic is more focused on in dominion? claire and maisie’s. because again, it’s her story. but this time it’s her and maisie’s shared story. it’s ultimately maisie taking the torch from her mother and starting a new narrative from the closure of claire’s. owen’s story is an extension of theirs as a co-parent of maisie and romantic partner of claire. it’s claire and maisie’s world and he’s playing their narrative backup.

the different between claire being his love interest vs owen being her love interest is the dichotomy of something every action movie does and something more fresh and interesting (no matter how questionably it can be handled by things like marketing or merchandise) for the genre. which baffles me to why you’d want to assume it’s something more boring than it textually is

Assassin Heir? Crime Fighting Furry? NOPE NO THANK YOU!

Danny should had known Clockwork had something in mind when he sent him on this mission. He knew he should had been suspicious of the time keeper when he noticed the little 'this is going to be fun' smile on his face when he sent Danny off into the portal.

"Get back here you demon spawn 2.0!"

But how was he supposed to know that he'd wake up in this world version of himself in a pit full of corrupted (AND NASTY) ectoplasim at the tender age of five or that when he swam up to the surface he'd be meeting face to face with what was apparently a cult.

"-O just spotted him a block away! I'll try to cut itty bitty bridie off!"

An Assassins Cult his, new to him, loving yet a little insane mother was in charge of (though during the few months he stayed in the compound he heard rumors and gossip from maids and others alike that if his grandfather returned from the dead he'll take over once again, no doubt punish Talia for creating another heir after the failure of the last one, most likely was going to kill Danny and that... that was can of worms Danny didn't wanna deal with yet)

Danny had lived with his mother for a while after being brought back from the 'dead' for apparently the first time, it turned out training a five year old with an actual sword and a dumbass hidden revenge seeking teacher was a terrible idea.

"I swear if this one tries to murder me like the others I'm asking Zatanna if there is a curse on me."

He dealt with her high demands of perfection, the endless training, and the constant comparisons to his apparent older brother Damain... Who didn't know Danny, or rather Danyal existed.

Nor did his father (when Danny, using his powers he's kept hidden since 'waking' up in this Realm, he sneaked his way around the base and discovered how he came into the world. And tbh he couldn't blame his mom how she made him, she was an assassin first and foremost, being naturally pregnant would had painted a target on her for to long... but he also felt it was unfair and an asshole move on his unsuspecting father as well)

"As your elder brother I demand you to stop running!"

Now don't get him wrong, he did like his new mother (total badass assassin lady and all that) and he knew she loved him in her own... deadly way. But yeah, she really shouldn't be taking care of kids. He could tell she struggled with wanting to be a normal mother but her first instinct after so many years was to be an assassin first.

Something she was trying to engrave into Danny with as well.

"Ah, hello Beloved. I see you've learned of our Danyal."

"Talia. Back away from him and leave Gotham now."

"I can not do that. The League needs an heir and since Damian refuses to return... I have decided to create a new one and I shall not be leaving until he returns with me."

"Talia."

Hence why when Danny, or rather Danyal al Ghul had gotten decent control over his powers he decided to leave the League. Again nothing wrong with the life his mom leads, to each their own, but he... really, really didnt want to be an assassin. Or an assassin heir.

So here he was, after almost a year on the run, using his powers and training to out smart and out maneuver his mother and her many band of Assassins, in Gotham. One of the last places he ever wanted to run to cause he knew his father and brother lived here.

It was just his luck that his mother had managed to intercept his train ride that passed into Gotham for a few hours and forced him to run into the city...

Add her assassins into the mix and running into Robin, who heard from Oracle his mother had been spotted chasing a young boy across the city, that same night.

After that it became a full on "catch me if you can" chase for not only his mother but for the batclan as well.

And after two whole days of chase, it seemed like the final showdown was about to begin because everyone was on top of this rooftop, his mother and her assassins on one side, his father and the batclan on the other and Danny well... he was right in the middle of all of it.

He just had to hope no one would notice him once the fighting started...

Simple observation I made from reading these comics. DC, stop making their dad an asshole and make him hug them more.

Also, the hugs in these comics:

Tim's hug is not in Red Robin but it's during the run and when Bruce comes back in time.

Cass' hug is weird because they're suicidal freaks who think fighting is therapy. They fought while being drugged, and blew up a brigde. It makes sense for them only.

Jason's first hug (Outlaws) is after he tries to apologize for his crimes and Bruce refuses to let him to do it, because his boy is innocent for him 🥺 (and then, they fucked it up with Ethiopia because they cannot let them have nice things 🙄). The second one (Red Hood & Arsenal) is started by Jason, who is just very happy to see that Bruce is alive, even if he has lost his memory.

transgenderism is such a fascinating concept to me to consider in the jurassic universe. because would the scientific advancements in bioengineering translate into gender science?

if you can make a living dinosaur, can they make wombs? like, in current day, we're working to perfect transplants of the reproductive organs for trans women. but could they artificially MAKE fully functional ovaries, tubes, wombs, whatever for trans women? and in current day, to be crass, doctors are working on making self-lubricating vaginas for trans women through stomach tissue. because the current most popular technique of inverting the penis just outright can't naturally do that. but in this world, can they do bottom surgery that is downright identical to a cis perisex woman? can they do bottom surgery so well that you can functionally get pregnant and give birth as a trans woman and is it normalized enough that anyone can do it, not just the richest of trans women?

and for trans men it's the similar situation where you can use the tissue there to build a penis, but in this universe, can we go beyond that? could there be functional testes created artificially? i mean, clones exist. they can fuck with the human genome to insane degrees. is it a logical conclusion to make to assume that a trans man can get a trans woman pregnant in this universe?

but also, how would the advancement of biological science affect trans rights? would being trans become more accepted with the lines of "biological sex" blurring? or would cis people become even MORE defensive about protecting the sanctity of gender? is sex on its way to total abolition? can you create custom mix and match first and secondary sex characteristics? have intersex rights progressed in meaningful ways?

it feels weird to me that if zoological biology has advanced to insane degrees, how can one assume human biological studies haven’t as well. I say again, CLONES! like surely there Has to be some transsexualism development. there has to be estrogen that can raise a trans woman’s voice after puberty drops it, right?

and ultimately these are questions I doubt will ever get answered. because it’s, like, a cash machine franchise not some indie LGBT film. But STILL! it’s always on my mind

Jason is dating Ghost Prince (not yet King) Danny and goes on a really awesome and romantic date on his day off. He forgot to tell the fam though. So when Red Robin comes to give Jason an update on some entil, he watches in muted horror as Jason is 'kidnapped' by a glowing entity in black armor and a nightmare looking horse (Danny is a bit busy doing paperwork, so he had his Fright Knight pick Jason up) off of a Gotham rooftop and into a green portal, while the knight had proclaimed Jason as their future Kings 'intended'..

No one on coms is ready for Tim to yell out

"I THINK JASON JUST GOT KIDNAPPED PERSEPHONE STYLE!!"
