Just a quick note from your friendly neighborhood bookworm/indie author
if you use kindle for the majority of your library, they will be shutting down the function that allows you to download your files and transfer them via USB on the 26th of February. Which doesn't sound like a huge deal, but this also means that if a book is taken off Amazon for any reason—like it being banned—they can scrape it off your kindle as well. So maybe backup your library?
Edit: as an indie author I feel like I should make a small note that this is not an excuse to say “fuck Amazon I’ll just pirate my books”. Please don’t do that. No one’s reaction so far has been that but I’m begging you not to react that way. That doesn’t hurt Amazon it hurts authors.
Some alternatives are
- check and see if the author sells their books on other marketplaces. Hint: any not enlisted on Ku are probably wide
- check your library. If they’re not at your library request them.
- if all else fails, reach out to the author. I have 100% hunted down a way for my book to be available to a reader that couldn’t access it for whatever reason. And I’d do it again.
Just for the love of 🧀 don’t pirate them.

Writing sometimes feels like a strange disorder you just kind of cope with by being creative. Like your brain randomly decides to dump a million-piece puzzle in front of you and says, 'Solve this or we will never think of anything else, ever.' You toil away for years and by some miracle you solve it, and it's the most fulfilling, exhilarating feeling in the world. It's perfect. You did it. And your brain is like, 'OK, here's my idea for three sequels and a spinoff.'

Created by, for, and about lesbians, On Our Backs came about in the tumult of the “feminist sex wars,” a deeply polarizing internal debate in the feminist movement regarding sex, sexuality, pornography, erotica, and BDSM. Divided into sex-positive and anti-porn camps, the sex wars saw rabid disagreement on what the nature of things like pornography were doing for lesbians and for society as a whole. Many feminists argued that pornography and erotica were inherently objectifying and abusive. Writer and theorist Andrea Dworkin argued that not just pornography but heterosexual sex as a whole was a “means of physiologically making a woman inferior,” and claimed that anyone aroused by porn that depicted sexualized violence (whether real or scripted) “was evidence of a mind that’s absorbed the propaganda of the patriarchy and eroticized the subjugation of women.” On the flipside, sex-positive feminists argued that pornography itself was not an inherent evil, but rather its morality was dependent upon the creators and participants. Rubin, one of the founders of the lesbian feminist BDSM group Samois, believed sexual liberation was a key component of the feminist movement and that public expressions of female sexuality were crucial in asserting women’s existence as fully realized beings.

Can @neil-gaiman make a young author like me feel better about typos on my already published back cover…
👉🏻👈🏻😖💛
The book itself only has 8 mistakes apparently in 326 pages…
P.S. thanks for writing Good Omens because without it I’d have never met my Fiancé! The Crowley to my Aziraphale…Congrats on season 3!!
Edit because only two people have bought my book

The Drunk, The Gambler, and The Lover is a novella about loneliness, isolation, and addiction, all stemming from the feeling of being unseen and misunderstood.
The Drunk lives in a mysterious, detached reality with a deep desire for connection.
The Gambler dreams of playing at the largest casino tables but is impulsive as he is clever and calculating.
The Lover is on the hunt for his darling and is as bold, hot-headed, and fiery as they come.
The soulful story of three degenerates begins here.
Launch Date: January 14th, 2025 Ebook pre-orders now available on Amazon

If you’re wanting to support some LGBT creators during pride month, consider supporting us.
75% of our team is LGBT in one way or another, and we need your support to stay afloat this month (and well every month but y’know).
Not only is most of our team queer, our games are too, and no not just because queer people made them and play them. (No, D&D isn’t queer, D&D culture treats queerness like a coat of paint.) An author or an audience doesn’t make something queer purely by association, a piece of art is queer if it engages in themes and experiences of people who are queer, and each of our TTRPGs do.
Our games engage meaningfully, mechanically, with the experiences of the abnormal, the discriminated against, and the marginalized. Each of our RPGs engage with mechanical reflection of gender and sexual norms, a prerequisite to enable mechanical reflection of transgressing those norms. You don’t have to take my word for it, you can download, read them, and play them here at this link (payment is optional but dearly appreciated and sorely needed), or wait and see the separate posts I’m going to make about this subject later that really delve into this. (Also accepting testimonials from fans either reblogged on this post or tagging us on your own post.)
In the meantime, we need to make an income of $2,898.83 before the end of the month, and at the time of writing this we only have $581.68. If you want to support queer artists, please consider checking out our itch.io, patreon, or ko-fi at these links.

So writers joke a lot about "drinking the tears of our readers", but I want to be so honest with you when I tell you that making you cry isn't our real goal. Making you feel is.
Kicking your feet? Giggling? Can't stop smiling? And yes, crying? Feeling anything, everything. That's our goal. That means we did The Job.

There's nothing more important than writing what you want to read. Don't worry about who will like your book. Don't worry about what market it can neatly fit into. Don't cut corners or blunt edges to satisfy an imaginary person who might dislike aspects of your art. It's yours. Treat it as a pure expression of your soul. Compromise is for cowards.

Not enough people are talking about Mr. Loverman on bbc. This show has:
Two elderly black men in love
Tale about internalized homophobia
Caribbean culture in England and in Antigua
Family dynamics and intergenerational relations
Great acting
A touching story
Is based on a book (I haven't read it yet, but I heard great things)
I won't tell you more because I don't want to spoil it.
Granted, it's not a perfect show, but it is sweet and you should definitely give it a try.

This is what I'm dealing with tonight. First of all this boy...
Was trying to get in my bath. Yes, the first voice is me, and the second one is my wife.
Then...
Tumblr media
He then stole my plantar fasciitis sandles for a pillow...
On the plus side. I did get some words dome while soaking. Being able to write on my phone and have it transfer to laptop is a blessing.

Do you think you have the correct opinion?
I'm currently looking for reviewers for my LGBT kids book I released more than a year ago called The Boy Who Wanted to Be a Deer. It's a fantastic and unusual story for all ages about growing up with deep and dark fears. Its art is beautiful, and its message is deep. One day, Tommy asks himself what he wants to be when he grows up. His parents think he should be an accountant. His friends want to be doctors and engineers. Tommy, however, doesn't want to be an accountant, doctor, or engineer. What he truly wants will never be accepted by his family or friends.
(It's in stores, but just message me or ask for a free pdf copy in the comments below. Reviews are the best way to support trans indie authors.)
