I know everyone knows the story of Actaeon and how he met a terrible fate by stumbling upon Artemis bathing in her forest but did you know that Actaeon was Apollo's grandson? That his father was Aristaeus, lord of the bees and the rustic arts and his mother was Autonoe, daughter of Cadmus and princess of Thebes?

Did you know he was trained by Chiron? That he was considered a hunter so skilled his talent was considered divine, that he was his parents' only child and that he was loved?

Did you know the grief that consumed the household when word of Actaeon's fate reached them? That Cadmus cut his hair, that Harmonia wept and was disconsolate and that his parents... well, Autonoe walked the length of the forest, keeping a sharp eye out for her son, but all she saw were the scattered bones of a fawn. Aristaeus too, had heard his son was torn apart and so fruitlessly, foolishly searched for the bones of a man. (There was none to be found)

Did you know that it was Actaeon's ghost, unhappy and unburied, trapped on the earth, who leaned over his sleeping father and told him of his fate? Yaaay the best witches!!! Sorry I will treat them as a single entity, though for my defense, they do it all too willingly to themselves.

(the why do they look like that is targeted at their combined form, nothing but respect for the grannies rocking their giant gem forehead look, and honestly I do get why they look like that combined, but I still question it at least somewhat)

I think Twinrova tend to get overlooked a lot regarding their influence over TLoZ's history as a whole, and when they aren't they are accused of building a homonculus of evil instead of having this apparently quite complicated relationship to their massive son given what little glimpses we see. I love that, because they're 400yo, they must have either raised or at least seen the rise and fall of at least 3 gerudo kings before him. That's wild, and incredibly under-explored!!!! What did that look like? What are their goals, and how did those goals influence Ganondorf, in good or bad? I feel like there's a lot of nuance takes to be taken in regards to their relationship, with a bunch of really different yet really compelling options (either deeply caring and respectful and the only solid connection Ganon ever had, all the way to incredibly abusive and controlling, and all the incredibly interesting middle grounds that may lay in between --which I am heavily biased towards)

Anyway, I love them!!! They should be there more!!! They're so fun and their leitmotif is incredible too

Said I was going to do a more in depth discussion of Cass's family and here it is! This is primarily about Cass's immediate family

Cass's father

Cass and their father have a very strained relationship which developed into something of a cold war between the two.

Cass realized they were non-binary very young, which their father did not accept. Despite this Cass did love their father and truly believed their father still loved them too.

Eventually Cass realized this was not the case, as to quote them, "he loved his daughters and Cass was not his daughter"

At the beginning, Cass pushed back against their father's treatment of them, especially the way he forced femininity on them whenever he could. He was also extremely victim blamey about it all, often making it out to be Cass’s fault (This may or may not have given them issues)

This actually caused arguments between their parents and caused tensions in the house to skyrocket. Cass realized this and made the conscious decision to drop the issue despite how uncomfortable they were

Cass never did forgive their father for this treatment of them and this showed through their very passive aggressive actions towards him and his treatment of their gender whenever they could get away wit it.

Cass may or may not have taken stealing from him as a way to inconvenience him whenever they could. This also may or may not have developed into a habit of nicking things from people that annoyed them

Cass's mother

Cass loved their mother dearly, and that love was reciprocated. She was one of the first people they came out to when they realized they weren't a girl and she supported them wholeheartedly.

As a side effect, when issues began to arise between Cass and their father, she got into arguments with her husband. This made her deeply unhappy on many different levels.

Cass realized this and dropped the issue. As far as they were concerned, their mom's happiness was more important than their issues with their dad and they did not want to be the reason their parents got divorces. Their mother loved their father and the arguments were causing her pain, so Cass nipped it at the bud.

It took some convincing but Cass was able to reassure her that they were fine and that she could stop fighting with their father

Cass's mother continued to be a huge supporter of all of Cass's endeavors until they got isekaid

Cass's sister

Cass and their sister regularly called each other their favorite person. Cass's sister is a little over 3 years older than Cass themself.

They were extremely close growing up, doing all the different things siblings do. Cass's sister did end up growing a bit protective over them after the incident that gave Cass their burn scar.

During the period of time where the two's parents were arguing, Cass's sister was not taking it super well, even going as far as causing her grades to drop, adding another reason to the list for why Cass decided to drop it

As the two got older, Cass's sister figured out what was going on with Cass and their father and their little cold war and she was not happy about it.

This caused her own problem with their father and eventually led to her moving into her college dorms despite not originally planning to. Which Cass blamed themself for.

This also slowly restarted the tensions in the house.

She taught Cass a lot of random things and served as a safe space for them when they needed to get away from home.

She was also the person Cass was waiting to meet before they got isekaid :)

Closing notes

A lot of Cass's tendencies to dismiss themself and sacrifice their own wellbeing can be traced back to their family, specifically the way their family reacted to the coming out

They looked at the way their family was splitting apart and the hurt it was causing to their loved ones and decided they'd rather suffer themself than let their loved one's suffer.

The fact that their sister figured out what was going on and was 'forced from home' because of it is what Cass considered one of their biggest fuck ups and is a major parts in why they constantly call themself useless. They tried to keep their family together and it didn't work, only delaying the issue.

This may or may not have caused other issues as well, we'll have to see

It feels a little weird to have finished this project after so long. There's obviously some elements I'd like to tweak, especially about the cave, but I think I'm content with how it all came out.

I included the characters I felt needed to be here, included the unnecessary work of every robin and batgirl having their costume displayed (sorry Bette for not including you), and actually finished it thus time.
