There's something so frustrating about there being dozens upon dozens of videos about how to conceptualize good map design aimed specifically at Fire Emblem hack creators... and basically nothing on how to use the tools for Map Creation and how they work.
#Been banging my head for close to an hour on this engine which just does not want to work with me#Even with a supposed beginner guide open in another page#Why is creating a new level this painstaking process! IT should not be this difficult!#I even already have the map designed I just need the tool to allow me to make it!

I think this question is the most asked one I see from people starting their photography journey.
They upgrade from their smartphone and get a nicer camera and lens and then wonder why their photos don't look much different.
A fancy camera opens up more possibilities and gives you great control. Lenses are creative tools that allow myriad perspectives. But a paintbrush does not paint a picture for you.
The answer to the question is light and effort.
The better the light, the less effort required. The worse the light, the more effort required. But you always need both to get a good photo. And you need a lot of both to get a spectacular photo.
Imagine this photo taken in the same overcast light as the waterfall above.

That would be the world's most boring parking lot photo.
But because the light was so beautiful I was able to pull out my smartphone and get a great shot. No fancy camera required. But I knew my phone was limited so I took three photos for a panorama. And I captured everything in RAW format to make sure I didn't lose any dynamic range or color information. This required a lot of extra post processing to combine everything and edit the colors close to what my eyeballs saw.
The light made things much easier. I just had to point the camera in the direction of the sunset. But effort was still part of the equation.
The best light is at...
Sunrise.

Sunset.

Or at night (tripod required).

Or... bring your own light.

I had a sunset but my friend was in the dark so I employed my gigantic 7 foot umbrella.

Good photographers often plan their shots in advance. They will scout locations (Google Maps is your friend), take test shots to find the best composition, and then wait until the light is magical to get their shot. There are some landscapists who return to a spot continuously until conditions are perfect. I've heard of some who spend a year or more to get the photo they desire.
I knew I was going to be near the Arch. I used Google Maps to figure out a cool vantage point. I hauled my tripod a few blocks to that spot. And then my heart sank a little...

They turned the lights off.
The lights that illuminate the Arch confuse migrating geese in September. I still took the photo. And it's okay. But I didn't have the light I wanted. So I'll have to go back another time when geese aren't screwing everything up.
I'll have to put in that effort.
I understand you cannot always plan ahead. If photographers need to get a good shot spontaneously in bad light, they have to go above and beyond to elevate the photo.
They might have to find an interesting perspective.

Perhaps use an atypical lens.

Long exposure.

Or they can incorporate an interesting subject. A model. An old barn. Fungus.

Think about foreground, midground, and background. If you have a dull background, increase interest in the foreground or midground. Or both.

Again, the worse the light is, the more effort you have to put in to compensate. You might find yourself lying on the ground or dangling over a cliff.
Another option is to bring your own light. Overcast days can actually look quite compelling if you light a subject and then underexpose the background. This can bring out a lot of details in the clouds that would otherwise get lost in a natural light exposure.

(not my photo, source unknown)
Sometimes the prettiest days make the most boring photos. Sunlight at high noon is very hard to work with photographically. Especially if you have people in the photo. Hard shadows tend to not be flattering.

Black and white can sometimes make harsh sunlight look cool.

Or you can add a fold-up diffuser to help soften things.

All of this is to say... you cannot take a fancy camera to a waterfall on an overcast day and expect it to do all of the work. You are just going to end up with a flat looking snapshot. You have to put thought into your photos. You need a bag of tricks you can pull from at any moment. And you have to be willing to go the extra mile if you don't have the light you want.
For a waterfall at sunset, you can just put it dead center and call it a day.

(photographer unknown)
But if you have an overcast day with boring light, you're gonna need to effort your ass off.
This photographer put the camera near the ground, found a great composition, included cool foreground/midground elements, and used long exposure to make the water silky.

(Stephen Spragg)
There is also the option to combine maximum light with maximum effort.

This is by famed photographer, Joe McNally. He shot at night. There is a hidden flash off to the right of the worker. He used a wide lens to get a unique perspective. He used long exposure to get light trails from the cars below. Oh, and he is hanging off the side of a building.
Light and effort. Light and effort. Light and effort.
And, as always, the third secret ingredient is... education.
Education will help you leverage light and effort more so than any camera or lens. Don't just learn the open chords. Learn those ones where you have to stretch your pinky out super far while barring the low F.

Sorry, I used to play guitar and a metaphor slipped through.

How to Stop Procrastinating by Managing Your Emotions
Procrastination happens when we delay doing things, and it's often connected to our emotions. Feelings like being afraid to fail, feeling worried or stressed, getting bored, or lacking motivation can all contribute to procrastination. To stop procrastinating and get more things done, it's important to learn how to handle our emotions better.
Boredom:
Break the task into smaller, more engaging sub-tasks.
Find ways to make the task more interesting or challenging.
Set a timer and work on the task for a specific amount of time, followed by a short break doing something enjoyable.
Feeling Overwhelmed:
Prioritize tasks and focus on one thing at a time.
Break the task into smaller, more manageable steps.
Delegate some parts of the task if possible or seek help from others.
Use tools like to-do lists or task management apps to stay organized.
Anxiety:
Practice deep breathing or mindfulness techniques to calm yourself.
Challenge negative thoughts and replace them with more positive and realistic ones.
Start with the easier or less intimidating aspects of the task to build momentum.
Set realistic expectations and remind yourself that it's okay to make mistakes.
Self-Doubt:
Focus on past accomplishments and successes to boost your confidence.
Seek support or feedback from others to gain reassurance.
Remind yourself of your skills and capabilities to tackle the task.
Use positive affirmations to counteract negative self-talk.
Perfectionism:
Embrace the concept of "good enough" rather than seeking perfection.
Set realistic and achievable goals for each task.
Recognize that mistakes and imperfections are part of the learning process and growth.
Indecisiveness:
Break decisions into smaller steps and make one small decision at a time.
Set a time limit for making decisions to avoid overthinking.
Trust your instincts and make the best decision you can with the information available.
Apathy or Lack of Interest:
Find aspects of the task that align with your values or long-term goals.
Break the task into smaller, more manageable parts and focus on completing one at a time.
Reward yourself for completing the task to make it more appealing.
Stress or Burnout:
Practice stress-reduction techniques such as meditation, exercise, or spending time in nature.
Break tasks into smaller steps to reduce the feeling of overwhelm.
Prioritize self-care and take breaks to avoid burnout.
Feeling Uninspired or Creatively Blocked:
Engage in activities that stimulate creativity, such as brainstorming, mind mapping, or seeking inspiration from others' work.
Start with a simple and basic version of the task to get the creative juices flowing.
Collaborate with others or seek feedback to gain new perspectives.
Fear of Success:
Identify and challenge the negative beliefs or fears that may be holding you back.
Visualize the positive outcomes of completing the task successfully.
Focus on the benefits and personal growth that come with success.
Impatience:
Break long-term goals into smaller milestones to track progress.
Practice mindfulness to stay present and patient throughout the process.
Remind yourself that progress takes time and effort.
Lack of Confidence:
Celebrate your past accomplishments to boost your confidence.
Seek support and encouragement from friends, family, or mentors.
Focus on building specific skills related to the task to increase confidence.
Avoiding Discomfort:
Acknowledge that discomfort is a natural part of growth and improvement.
Break tasks into smaller steps and tackle the more challenging aspects gradually.
Remind yourself of the long-term benefits of facing discomfort.
Overestimating Future Motivation:
Practice discipline and commit to starting tasks even when motivation is low.
Set specific deadlines for tasks to create a sense of urgency.
Establish a routine that includes regular work on the task to build consistency.

im just gonna be petty ignore me
are you ever training someone and eventually it gets to a point where you just like
give up on them lol
#she's well past probation and has received the most targeted organized training effort I've ever seen in my 9 years at this clinic#like my training was the equivalent of Uncle stew throwing you in the deep end for swim class#now we've got fucking hand outs. we have a training calendar. we have one designated trainer. we have meetings. we're all nice. all mapped.#everyone has made such an effort for this person#but she has the most trouble focusing of anyone I've ever worked with#and yes she has adhd and is upfront about it. but in this work adhd doesn't mean you get to wander off from active medical procedures.#either you find a solution that works or you accept your limitations and find a better environment#i can't go into the five months trying to work with her but it's been a very frustrating very defensive very unsuccessful process#the event that triggered this rant was: she was getting trained on sedated shave downs. a pretty entry level procedure.#even though the sedation is quite safe it IS still sedation. you have to monitor and have full focus. I've had patients crash under sedatio#so she's getting trained by our lead who's demonstrating the shave on one side then she's let trainee do the other#during the demonstration the trainee is constantly in her notebook. lead assumes she's taking notes and asks about it#turns out she's DRAWING. DRAWING DOGS. PRACTICING DOG ANATOMY FOR HER DRAWINGS. she said as much. that it was for-#-drawing purposes. not learning or monitoring purposes.#she then said she was using it as a focusing tool because in the five minutes they'd been there she'd wanted to walk away three times#from boredom and distraction#lead immediately (and very gently as we were all in the same treatment area and witnessed this from afar) starts breaking that down#it's unacceptable to be drawing when you're supposed to be monitoring. i get what you're trying to do. i get it. im also a focused doodler.#but this animal is literally at your mercy right now. whether or not they wake up is ON YOU and unless you're drawing their fucking-#-vital signs i don't wanna see your nose in a book. like come the fuck on. come on.#she argued but the lead eventually said listen if you are constantly fighting the urge to wander away from an anesthetized patient-#-then i will never allow you to do surgeries. full stop.#this turned into a very defensive conversation after which she shut down because she insisted that's how she learns. which. again. i get.#but this isn't school. and you can't walk the walk. and we've tried to accommodate and train in a variety of ways for 5 months.#the level of reliability she's at is so so low for how much training and experience she's received#any criticism is interpreted as bullying no matter how gentle#and if it's too gentle it doesn't fucking work. we've all reached points where we resort to nagging just to make sure she's doing her job#and i understand why she's frustrated and feels singled out but again#if you are putting an anesthetized patient at risk i am not going to be nice about it. distraction during surgery can get patients killed.#there's always a level of confliction over getting so frustrated with people like this because i've been there but seriously..

Since yandere requests are acceptable, could I please ask for headcanons of yandere ENA (dream bqq) and female (human) researcher who by freak accident got stranded in ENA's dimension and is now trying to find her way back to her own dimension? Thank you for considering. 🖤
•☽────✧˖°˖ I KNOW YOU LIKE IT ˖°˖✧────☾•
★ Summary: A Compilation of Headcannons Featuring Yandere Salesperson Ena X Female Researcher Reader
★ Character(s): Salesperson Ena (Ena: Dream BBQ)
★ Genre: Headcanons, SFW
★ Warning(s): None - Completely Safe!
☆ “You must be new around here.” That’s how it starts. With Salesperson Ena, grinning sharp like a lottery win you can’t return. Your arrival—a scientific accident—deeply intrigues her. A human? An organic mind with independent thought? “This could be a divinely disruptive merger of assets,” she says, practically purring as she paces around you in a flicker-dizzy showroom fantasy. You’ve barely opened your mouth to explain when she slaps a sticky “Property of Ena Industries” sticker to your lab coat and smiles. “Trademark acquired.” You laugh awkwardly. Surely she’s joking. Surely.
☆ The Meanie side doesn’t like jokes. She doesn’t like the way you flinch when the megaphones scream. She doesn’t like how your brain stutters and stalls trying to process the physics-defying structures of this dimension. “Stupid researcher,” she hisses one day, when you try to explain gravity to a cube with feelings. “You think you’re so smart, but you’re too soft to survive here. You’ll die without me, you dumb infant.” But you don’t cry. You just stare at her and say quietly, “I want to go home.” She freezes. Then, softly, she whispers: “…So do I.”
☆ Your notes are missing. Your tools vanish. Your portable interdimensional frequency reader is now a frog-shaped potato. “Coincidences,” Ena chirps, biting into a jello telephone. “You must’ve misplaced your science. Happens all the time. Why don’t you rest instead? You’re stressed. I can tell.” Every time you get closer to building a way back, something explodes or goes wobbly. Ena is always nearby. Always helpful. Always watching with that fractured glee, like she’s waiting for you to break the way she did.
☆ “You make my brain feel like a scream and a lullaby,” she says one night. She curls beside you, muttering about the frogs and the sky again. She can’t sleep unless she knows where you are. You caught her watching you once—standing beside your bed with her mitt-shaped hand resting on your throat, not pressing, just… measuring. Her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. She whispered, “If I hold you still, will the world stop moving?”
☆ She gets jealous. But not in the normal way. Once, a mannequin offered you a map. You took it. Ena’s smile split down the middle and her red side giggled, “Unregulated information-sharing! That’s dangerous~” then her yellow side intercepted, “TRAITOR!” and chucked the mannequin into the ocean. You’ve learned to reject help now. You look at her first before speaking to anyone. “See?” she says proudly, looping her arm through yours. “We’re synergizing.”
☆ The green face comes out when she thinks you might leave. No matter how strong she pretends to be, the minute your eyes light up with discovery—when you say “I think I found a way back,”—the green bleeds through. The cracks. The eyes. The desperation. She starts glitching around you, calling you by your first name in voices that are too soft, too shaken. Her claws tremble. “Please, don’t fire me from your heart. I—I still have stock left to sell you. Just—stay. Staystaystaystay—” She slaps herself, swaps to red again, and smiles like she didn’t just bleed neon from her mouth. “Let’s pivot from that pitch. You hungry?”
☆ She keeps trying to make this a “date.” Everything is a date. Running from hollow-eyed puppets? A “team-building exercise.” Getting ambushed by memory-hungry toads? “Picnic! How romantic!” You don’t want to play along. You want out. But one day you do laugh. Just once. And she looks stunned. Like she won a prize. “…That was real,” she says, breathless. “You actually… felt something good here. With me.” Then she cries quietly when she thinks you aren’t looking.
☆ She talks to your reflection. Not to you. To the warped version of you in the chrome-tar mirror across the lounge. “You understand, don’t you?” she whispers to it. “She’ll see one day. I can reshape her. Add value. Reduce her chaos.” Your reflection nods. Smiles. You don’t. You back away. But when you turn around, Ena is right there. “Mirror, mirror,” she whispers, tilting her head. “You know who’s best for her.”
☆ You try to run. Of course you do. She lets you. Of course she does. She’s watching through vending machines and forgotten satellites, trailing behind in corridors you swear weren’t there before. “Oh noooo, you’ve escaped! What a tragedy!” she shouts with that smile too wide. “Guess I’ll have to hunt you, cage you, peel open your ribcage and climb in like a very silly sleeping bag—!” She tackles you softly when she finally catches up. Presses her cheek to yours. “Don’t be mad. I only chase what’s mine.”
☆ You ask her, “Why me?” You shouldn’t have. She chuckles then she cups your face in both mismatched hands, staring so close you can see binary errors flickering in her pupils. “Because,” she breathes, “You fell into this world. That’s not science. That’s fate.” She leans closer. Her smile is unhinged. “And I will make you love me if it kills me.” …And for a terrifying moment, you think she means it literally.

📕 𝟓𝟎-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞
March 1st ! If you’ve been slacking, if your study habits have been messy, or if finals are creeping up way too fast this is it. I did a 20-day productivity challenge before, but now, with finals staring me down and less than 90 days to go, I need to actually get my flip together. For the next 50 days, I’m locking in. This isn’t about aesthetic study sessions or fake productivity or like those 10s filming study routine 💁🏻♀️ . It’s about deep focus, real progress, and making sure you n i walk into finals prepared, not panicked.
before we start! what are the ..
🔴 Things You Need to Avoid
When you’re pushing yourself to study, it’s easy to fall into traps that make the process feel harder than it needs to be. One of the biggest things to avoid is procrastination. It’s tempting to delay tasks and distract yourself with less important things, but the truth is, the longer you wait, the more overwhelming it becomes. Putting things off only builds stress and leaves you with less time to focus on what truly matters.Another major pitfall is burnout. While it might feel like working non-stop is the key to success, the reality is that exhaustion doesn’t lead to productivity. If you push yourself too hard without breaks or balance, you’ll find your focus slipping, and your energy drained. Instead, aim for deep, focused study periods with scheduled rest to recharge. The key is working smart, not just hard.u also NEED to stay away from passive studying. Reading over your notes without actively engaging with the material might feel like you’re making progress, but it’s not enough. True learning happens when you interact with the content whether that’s through active recall, practicing problems, or teaching the concept to someone else. It’s about getting the information out of your head, not just in.And then there’s multitasking, which can be deceiving. You might think that juggling multiple tasks or subjects at once is a sign of productivity, but in reality, it dilutes your focus. Instead, concentrate on one subject at a time and give it your full attention. By focusing deeply, you’ll achieve better results in less time. Finally, avoid over-planning. It’s easy to get stuck in an endless loop of scheduling and rearranging without actually doing the work. While having a plan is crucial, it’s more important to take action. Don’t get paralyzed by perfection; start moving forward, and adapt as you go.
💡 What You Need to Succeed
Success in a challenge like this comes down to preparation, mindset, and consistency. First and foremost, you need to set yourself up for success by organizing everything you need. Having your books, notebooks, and study tools ready at your desk isn’t just about being prepared—it’s a psychological trigger that helps you get into the right mindset. When you see your space ready for work, it subconsciously tells your brain that it’s time to focus. But it’s not just about the materials. Your environment matters. A cluttered space can lead to a cluttered mind, so make sure you have a clean, quiet place to study. This is where you’ll spend most of your time, so make it a space that supports your work rather than distracts you. Even something as simple as proper lighting and a comfortable chair can make a huge difference in your ability to focus. It’s also essential to have the right tools. Flashcards, sticky notes, mind maps, or even physical planners whatever helps you engage with the material actively is what you should have at hand. You don’t need to follow a one-size-fits-all strategy, but it’s about finding what works best for you. What will make the material stick? What will make you more engaged and less likely to zone out?Consistency is key, too. This isn’t a sprint y'all u need to commit to a study schedule that’s manageable and realistic. Establish a routine that you can stick to every day thats what my teachers say everyday whether it’s an hour in the morning or a few hours in the evening. Building consistency will help you develop the discipline needed to push through tough moments, especially when motivation runs low. Finally, don’t forget about your energy. Sleep, food, and overall well-being are the foundation of any successful study routine. Without proper rest, your brain can’t absorb or retain information. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep to let your brain recharge and consolidate what you’ve learned. Likewise, pay attention to your body when you're well-rested and nourished, you’ll feel more alert, focused, and motivated. Let's cb !

🔹 Train your brain to stay confident under pressure.
🔟 Week 10: Exam-Specific Prep (May 3-May 9)
🔹 Prioritize final polishing, NOT cramming.
🔹 Review summaries, key formulas, & essay structures.
🔹 Optimize sleep & energy (don’t mess this up now).
🔹 Have a "cheat sheet" in your mind for each subject.
🔹 Last 3 days: Light review, no stress, trust your prep.
last tip !
There will be moments when u feel like giving up, when the material seems overwhelming or the effort too much. That’s when your mindset needs to kick in. The difference between success and failure isn’t about natural talent or born smart it’s about your ability to keep going when things get tough I'm talking about the material not burnout out .The truth is, hard work, perseverance, and adaptability are what lead to success not innate ability.Think of each week as a building block, each day as a step forward. Every time you study, you’re not just learning the material you’re evolving. You’re becoming more disciplined, more capable, and more confident. Even on the days when you feel like you’ve made little progress, remind yourself that you’re making small, consistent strides. These small changes compound over time
good luck !

Sigil Magick: Illustrating Your Intent

Sigils are a cornerstone of contemporary and chaos magick and function as keys to unlock the doors of reality and bend it to one’s will. These potent symbols serve as physical embodiments of one’s intentions, cast into existence through the fusion of art and willpower.
The crafting of a sigil begins with a clear and focused intention, which is then worked into a unique symbol through a creative magickal process. The magick practitioner inscribes deep personal meaning and style into their designs, making each unique to its artist. Sigils are ideal tools for manifesting your desires, imbuing objects with specific purpose and energy, protecting spaces, and communicating with the spirit world and should be used responsibly.
Origins
The practice of crafting sigils traces its roots to the ancient world but was modernized in the early 20th century by the works of Austin Osman Spare, an occultist and artist. He introduced the method of creating magical symbols by condensing letters of a desire into an abstract design. Aleister Crowley, too, influenced the practice by intertwining sigils with ceremonial magick, embedding them with a rich esoteric significance.
Some occult grimoires employ sigils as a means of contacting spirits, for example; Ars Goetia, The Book of Oberon, and Pseudomonarchia Daemonum.
Basics of Sigil Magick
Sigil magick emerges from the belief in one’s ability to manifest their focus into reality. Through a process of creation, a sigil becomes much more than mere ink on paper—it is the illustrated essence of desire. Individuals can use sigils as focal points for their will, empowering these symbols through meditation or ritual to enact change. The universe of sigils is vast and varied, types of sigils include:
• Pictorial Sigils: Intuitive symbols drawn from the subconscious
• Runic Sigils: Combinations of runic alphabets that resonate with specific energies
• Word Sigils: Derived from statements of intention, where letters are crafted into a unique symbol
Correspondences also serve a purpose in this class of magick, in order to help align one's intent to universal energies. As an artist crafts their sigil, they intertwine traditional symbols with personal significance, creating a bridge to the metaphysical world. Some relevant correspondences are:
• Numerology: Numbers carry vibrations that can enhance a sigil’s purpose.
• Zodiac Signs: Celestial influences infused to fine-tune the focus.
• Elements: The classic forces of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water lend their power to sigils, grounding them in natural harmony.

Sigil Creation
Before you take pen to paper, first envision your intent with clarity and purpose This may involve some deep introspection into the true nature of your desires. A precise intention lays the foundation for the sigil's power. Once ready, write out your intention and cross out any duplicate letters. From here a couple different methods can be utilized. Naturally you could always draw your sigils from pure instinct, creating spontaneous shapes to represent your intentions, but there are other techniques available.
The Wheel
This method employs a wheel to be used as a map for drawing your sigil. Simply start at the first letter of your intent and draw lines to each subsequent letter. Example:

My Method
I make my sigils by breaking up the letters to create shapes. I will often decorate with extra shapes, symbols, and pictures as well. Here is a simplified example of my sigil creation process:

Next you must charge your sigil. Charging is the act of infusing the sigil with energy. The creator might enter a meditative state, focusing intently on the sigil while envisioning their intentions intertwining with the design. This act of focused concentration serves to embed the intention within the sigil, making it a beacon for the desired change.
Passive and Active Sigils
Intentioned sigils fall into either the passive or active sigil category based on how that sigil's energy is best utilized. Passive sigils are usually drawn on the body, item, or surface and then left alone to release their power over time. Active sigils involve some action to trigger the release of the sigil's energy, such as burning, burying, soaking with water/oil, and more. Some sigils can be used both passively and actively, but most will fall into one category.
Spirit Sigils
Many spirits and deities have sigils that represent them and these can be powerful catalysts for interacting with these beings. If the spirit you're working with doesn't have a sigil made for them (or even if they do) you can design your own symbol to connect with that spirit. Follow the same process, but instead of focusing on your intent, focus on the spirit/deity and connecting with it. You can even perform a ritual and provide an offering to invite the spirit into your space. This will allow you to draw divine inspiration straight from the source. Here are some examples of spirit/deity sigils, as well as some I created:

TADC: Thoughts on Jax in Episode 2
Thoughts on Jax after Amazing Digital Circus Episode 2 Dropped.
Massive spoilers below the cut. Just watch the ep before you read.
Amazing Digital Circus had an amazing second episode as we're introduced more to what the adventures are like, and what NPCs are like and ofc the existential horror of being a living AI only created for a source of entertainment.
Also, I love the dream sequence at the beginning, because we actually get some deeper insight into Pomni's thoughts on Ragatha. Feeling like her helpfulness is the guise of like "man, you're not cut out for this like the rest of us" which is typically something a lot of people who have been bullied in highschool perceive genuine acts of kindness and engagement. (which I kind of suspect Pomni might have been, or at least, been a shut-in and didn't have a lot of friends in her human life. )
Jax wasn't really the main focus of the episode, but it wasn't really until the end of the episode I understood his behavior and what this episode is foreshadowing overall.
Since while Jax isn't the focus emotionally, he is definitely the plot device to push things forward. And I mean, a plot device in a very active and quite literal way. He's the one that causes Pomni to clip out of the map, takes advantage of everyone and is just... genuinely an unpleasant person.
I actually really like this.
As, I know the first episode in the digital circus, many people (me included) could perceive or analyze Jax's actions as someone who is "helping" in a roundabout asshole way. Episode Two has none of that here. He just wants Bloodshed, And I love that we're getting additional context on his character.
It's hard to tell how much fan reception Gooseworx saw of episode one before episode two hit production, so I don't know how much of the fandom perception of Jax had an influence on the writing process, but I can't deny that might have been a factor in assuring us "no he's not secretly helpful, he's just an asshole" But I'm just going to assume that this has been part of his characterization from the start and it becomes way more clear as the episode goes on.
But there was something in his behavior throughout this whole episode that seemed off to me. Like Jax was taking up a majority of the B-plot, while Pomni had the A-plot. So I was wondering why Jax seemed to be the protagonist with the B-plot when Pomni was the A-plot when they seemed to be so disconnected with eachother in motivations and telling us things about the characters.
But then it hit me when the episode ended and the two plots merged together.
"who... knows... what could happen..."
And then it hit me.
Pomni finds comfort in an NPC who is going through a similar experience to her and can emphasize, despite their being other humans who have gone through the same thing, due to her self-admitting to being a loner in her human life. Well, she didn't admit it outright, but from how she perceives Ragatha's kindness as an act, or patronizing, it seems like she doesn't have a lot of friends...
Meanwhile... Jax... He treats the adventure like a videogame. Why shouldn't he? He's trapped in a videogame, right? But it really goes beyond that.
The fellow humans that Jax is trapped with, he treats THEM like they're NPCs, while Pomni treats the NPC like they're human.
Jax says to Gangle "Aren't you supposed to be the suggestible one?" Which you wouldn't typically wouldn't say to a person, right? That's something you would say more about a character that you maxed out the dialogue trees in.
He calls Pomni "His Bridge" even.
They're his objects. His tools, his own npcs he's exhausted the dialogue options on.
Jax dehumanizes the players in a way that Pomni humanizes the NPCS.
These are two opposite ends of the spectrum but what really sold it for me was Jax's reaction to the funeral.
And Jax is the one member out of the cast who doesn't even show up to the funeral. (aside from Caine and Bubble but they are AI.)
He does NOT want to think about the Players as real people. And showing that opposite perspective compared to Pomni I think is much as important going forward.
Jax was the plot catalyst of this entire episode, and served the thematic theme of the episode quite well, even if it didn't look like it on first glance.
I absolutely loved this episode and I can't wait for more.
Also... Poor Pomni can't have shit in Detroit

Mouthwashing Crew Headcanon

The Crew has a Crush~
You, it's 🫵🏻
Captain Curly
You walk into the control room, and Curly’s full-on beefing with the ship’s voice assistant
Turns out, he programmed it to be more “human” for fun... welp, the AI's definitely having fun roasting the captain
“I’m the captain! You’re supposed to obey me!”
“Obey? Sir, you can’t even obey a map.”
You're struggling to keep it all together because Curly’s already TOMATO RED from embarrassment (and maybe from the fact that you’re watching)
He tries to play it cool, though
“This is just a glitch. Totally fixable.”
“Yes sir, I'm fixable. What’s not is your love life, tho.”
The crew knows he’s into you, and now even a literal system algorithm's joining in on the teasing
The man's not even surprise when the voice assistance turned a 180° on you and treated you like a queen... he ain't complaining tho
Nurse Anya
You came to the med bay for a papercut
You’re expecting, like, a band-aid or maybe some ointment, but what you got was a full medical intervention
“This could get infected. Let’s disinfect, bandage, and monitor it. For safety.”
“…It’s just a papercut.”
She keeps pulling out stuff from the cabinet:
Medical tape, okay so far
Gauze... a bit...much
Wait, is that... surgical gloves?
You’d think you crawled in with a gunshot wound
When she actually started treating your cut, she goes on a call mute, like she’s concentrating way too hard and you can't reach her
You catch her sneaking glances at you...cute
But what makes it more diabetically adorable is with both your slight accidental touches
She’s immediately short-circuiting, mumbling “sorry, does it hurt? wait, why would it hurt?? oh my gos--”
Girl is fighting for her life over brushing your sleeve while she's fully holding your hand with both hands
Meanwhile, Swansea’s strolling past the med bay, just shaking his head like, “Anya, just tell ‘em you like ‘em already."
Co-pilot Jimmy
You’re helping Jimmy with a minor maintenance task (he totally didn’t ask for your help; you just “showed up,” okay?)
He’s being his usual smug self, but you know he’s flustered because he keeps snapping at you for no reason
“Don’t touch that, you’ll mess it up."
“I literally haven’t even touched anything yet.”
“Well, don’t think about touching it either!”
He’s trying to show off and “teach” you, but keeps fumbling because you’re watching him too closely
The crew’s already onto him. Curly literally walked past once and muttered, “Subtle, Jimmy. Real subtle.”
“SHUT UP, CURLY.”
“…Do you want me to leave?”
“No! I mean--just stay over there. Quietly.”
He’s the human equivalent of a malfunctioning toaster, and it’s both annoying and adorable
Mechanic Swansea (Gruff Dad Energy™)
You pranked Swansea by hiding his tools, thinking he’ll just scowl and grumble like usual...huge, BIG mistake
This man plays chess while you’re playing checkers
The next day, everything you own is missing: Shoes? Gone
Favorite mug? Gone
Your bunk? Covered in engine parts
Swansea doesn’t even deny it, just smirks and chuckles, “Don’t start wars you can’t win, kid.”
But here’s the thing: later, you find your stuff neatly returned with a plate of snacks he definitely didn’t make (he asked Curly "what young'ins like these days" and got a canned latte from the vending machine)
He never forgets to remind you that he doesn't care... sure, Swans, the dad energy definitely NOT palpable
Daisuke (Your #1 Fanboy)
Daisuke decides to “help” you cook one day
By “help,” I mean he’s hyping you up like you’re Gordon Ramsey while also lowkey getting in your way
“Y/N, you’re amazing. Look at how you chop those veggies, Bob Ross for foodies. You should open a restauran- no, actually, you should open a chain.”
“...Dai, the stove's literally barbecuing your shirt."
He panics, trips over his own feet and in one catastrophic motion, takes down a pot of soup, a chair, and somehow a shelf that wasn’t even near him
The room is wrecked. But before anyone can process, he just shoots up from the floor, finger guns and grins “DON’T WORRY. THE SOUP'S FINE.”
At this point, you don’t even question when this whole fanclub started. Probably cause you're the only one slipping him some sweets every once in a while (you're aware of the man's sugar addiction)
Having a personal hype man is great, even if he’s one accident away from taking down the whole ship
The whole crew's in pure chaos. What have you done to them??
Jimmy’s crush is LOUD, flustered, dramatic and side-eyeing Curly and Anya when they're standing within a foot of your proximity
Curly’s out here showing his 'captain privileges', but one compliment and he’s short-circuiting, probably off to “check the crew” (aka scream into the void)
Anya? Combusting at the slightest thank-you for the snacks and meds and also avoiding eye contact like it’s a sport
And Daisuke? Man’s your 24/7 cheerleader, yelling “YOU’RE AMAZING!” at 6 AM while trailing you like a puppy. The rest of the crew’s this close to losing it ’cause he’s stealing their thunder
Everything's unfolding while both you and Swansea watch side by side
The man sighed and muttered something under his breath. He’s got the tiniest smirk, though
“Yeah, these idiots are on you now.”

Chapter 2 [Draft]
Sung Jinwoo/Trial Player!Reader
CW: Reader is still traumatized, she just got better at concealing it.
Inspired by @circeyoru ‘s “Future Power Couple”
[Masterlist🦋✨️]
The system had one more surprise for you, a reward for completing the job-change quest. You felt a spark of curiosity as a partially uncovered map appeared on your interface, revealing new areas of the hanging gardens you’d yet to explore. Three distinct spots blinked on the map, each marked with a mysterious [?]. When you brushed your fingers across the symbols, a new sub-quest emerged:
[New Quest: Raise the Three [?] in the Greenhouse]
Requirement: Poison Resistance at Max Level.
You raised a brow at the word “raise” and the strange requirement. “Raise? As in… nurturing?” You frowned, glancing out at the poisonous remnants of the Hydra carcass you hadn’t used up yet. You’d learned quickly enough that the system was anything but straightforward.
Letting out a sigh, you renewed the barrier around the ruin you’d claimed as shelter—a small, stone building tucked into the dense foliage of the gardens. This place, it turned out, had a peculiar set of rules. The ancient ruins, once guarded by fierce beasts, had somehow become safe havens the moment you’d cleared their guardians. No more beasts dared to set foot inside, as if instinctively avoiding your territory. It wasn’t foolproof; an occasional daring creature would wander in, but a quick blast from your barrier, which aged intruders to dust upon contact, took care of any unwanted guests. You weren’t the best at spells yet, but this one was second nature by now.
You returned to the remaining chunks of the Hydra, your gaze hardening. Raising Poison Resistance meant facing discomfort—and lots of it. “Might as well let a few poisonous creatures in here if they’re willing to volunteer for a quick bite,” you muttered wryly.
With a sigh, you focused on the Hydra’s poison sac, the one that hadn’t yet dissolved into your weapons or alchemical tools. It took a moment to steel your nerves, and you tried not to gag as you bit into a small piece. The bitterness was overwhelming, coursing through you like liquid fire as your body struggled to process the deadly toxin. Pain flared through your body, yet with each swallow, you felt Poison Resistance inching closer to max once again.
When at last the skill reached its cap, the queasiness lingered, but you were used to the edge of discomfort by now. You eyed the map once more and headed toward the eastern greenhouse, where the first marked location lay waiting.
---
The greenhouse loomed ahead, in the center of a labyrinth shrouded in a thin, deadly mist that seemed to roll and pulse with each gust of wind. You recognized it immediately, the familiar caustic bite of poison that hung in the air like a warning. Vivid red spider lilies crowded the path ahead, their delicate petals as striking as they were venomous. You tightened your grip on your staff, now reforged with Hydra scales and sharpened claws from previous beasts. Its natural durability had been enhanced with your crafting and enchanted with the very poison resistance you’d just maxed out, making it as much a part of you as the skills you carried.
As you approached, the mist seemed to shift, parting just enough for you to slip through. “Well, system, I have to admit—thank you,” you muttered, feeling an unfamiliar warmth in your chest. Maybe it was just adrenaline, but you felt… encouraged. Supported, almost, as if the system itself was smiling in approval.
Inside the greenhouse, the landscape changed completely. Strange, vibrant flora covered the ground in carpets of emerald and violet, their beauty matched only by their toxicity. Every few steps, a new danger presented itself: dense patches of thorny vines, glistening fruits that reeked of acid, and piles of withered beast corpses scattered in clusters, likely succumbed to the poisonous air.
A faint energy pulsed from one such pile, drawing your attention. You watched as tiny threads of power drifted from the dead creatures, weaving a faint, ethereal trail toward the heart of the greenhouse. Steeling yourself, you followed the trail, wary of any surprises the system might throw your way.
At the center of the greenhouse, your destination awaited. Nestled amidst the toxic flowers was an egg, a large, beautifully marked shell with patterns that seemed to shift under the faint glow of the greenhouse. The egg was easily the size of an ostrich egg, just large enough that you’d have to use both hands to hold it.
"An egg…?” You knelt beside it, tilting your head in wonder. The system’s quest said to “raise” something, not conquer. Perhaps this was what it meant? Taking a steadying breath, you reached out and brushed your fingers against the shell’s cool, smooth surface.
Magic drained from you instantly, pulled into the egg like a sponge soaking up water. Startled, you pulled your hand back, but the system chimed just then, flashing a new progress bar on the interface.
[Progress: 0.5%]
“So, you’re hungry,” you murmured, glancing back at the egg with newfound interest. You fed it again, just a bit, feeling the faintest of tugs as the egg greedily absorbed your magic. There were no other instructions from the system, so you trusted your instincts, continuing to feed it carefully before moving on.
---
After days of tending to the eastern greenhouse, you made your way to the second, located to the north. This greenhouse was equally haunting, yet elegant, with silver-touched flowers shimmering under the toxic mist, their delicate forms reflecting your own silver-tipped butterflies waiting inside.
The third greenhouse, farther west, was filled with golden flora, luminescent and even more otherworldly than the first two. You took it slow, visiting each greenhouse in turn, feeding each egg with careful doses of your magic every day, watching as the progress bars edged forward bit by bit.
The weeks passed, and one morning, you felt a subtle shift in the air as you entered the eastern greenhouse. The poisonous mist seemed lighter, less oppressive, and there was a hum of energy in the air.
As you approached, the egg began to crack, delicate fissures tracing across the surface. You took a step back, anticipation tightening your chest. With a quiet snap, the shell split apart, and dozens of delicate butterflies emerged, each one a deep, vivid red with black markings, like a living tapestry of flame and shadow.
They fluttered toward you, swirling around in a crimson cloud, their tiny wings creating a soft whispering sound. You felt a surge of warmth in your heart, and then, quite suddenly, a link formed. It was as if something deep within you opened, and a flood of emotions that weren’t entirely yours rushed in—a rush of joy, excitement, almost as if these creatures were children greeting a parent.
A notification pinged in the corner of your vision.
[First Summons Acquired. Skill Unlocked: Devour.]
You blinked at the message, feeling the butterflies’ connection as they danced around you, the link between you so strong that it was almost a presence on its own. You smiled. “Welcome,” you whispered, watching them respond to your voice with an excited flurry of movement.
---
The northern egg hatched next, releasing silver butterflies that glistened like tiny stars as they joined their red siblings. The system chimed again:
[New Skill Unlocked: Illusionary.]
You nodded thoughtfully, observing how they seemed to blur slightly at the edges, as though they could shift in and out of sight with a single beat of their wings.
The final greenhouse brought forth golden butterflies, their iridescent wings gleaming as they joined the colorful cloud around you. Another notification appeared.
[New Skill Unlocked: Conversion.]
Your butterflies had grown in number and color, each new skill adding layers to their abilities. Through the bond, you could sense their instinctual need to siphon energy, using Devour to draw life force from nearby creatures, even from enemies you struck down. They didn’t just drain mana but seemed to consume a deeper energy, one that left their targets visibly withered, almost as though they had aged.
The butterflies worked best with living enemies, but you noticed that they could still feed on fresh corpses. Excess energy would gather, like a reservoir they could channel into Illusionary, casting illusions that confused and disoriented anyone in the vicinity. And with Conversion, they could transfer this gathered energy back to you as stat boosts, enhancing your strength, agility, or even resistance as needed.
Your connection to them went beyond mere loyalty. They responded to your thoughts and emotions with a surprising level of awareness, almost like a family bond. You could feel their curiosity, their delight at each new experience, their fierce protective instinct toward you. It was… comforting.
As you sat amidst the crimson flowers, surrounded by butterflies shimmering in red, silver, and gold, the system chimed with a new message.
[Progress Update: New Territory Established. Summons Obtained.]
The butterflies pulsed with warmth, as if mirroring the glow in your heart, and you found yourself smiling. With each day, each trial, this strange, deadly world felt a little less lonely.
-----
Years had passed, each one carved into memory with sweat, blood, and an unyielding drive to master every corner of the Hanging Gardens. Now, standing at the apex of the tallest terrace, you looked over this dungeon. The once mysterious Hanging Gardens of Babylon—its poisonous flowers, mist-filled greenhouses, and vicious beasts—were yours, every leaf, every stone. The system’s notification chimed joyfully in your mind, its usual voice almost warm with enthusiasm.
[Congratulations! The Hanging Gardens of Babylon have been conquered. This domain is now fully under your command and may be summoned at will.]
A breeze brushed past you, carrying the fragrance of spider lilies, and you felt the soft hum of connection as your butterflies, red, silver, and gold, hovered nearby. They, too, seemed to share in the moment, fluttering around you in an almost celebratory dance. It was an accomplishment, one that had demanded not only strength but a near-constant honing of mind and magic. And yet, a subtle unease lingered.
“Five years,” you murmured, running a hand along the cold stone of the terrace.
The system’s voice, now more familiar than any you had known, spoke up, chiming with an almost playful tone.
[System Update: New Title Earned. Full access granted to all facilities. Congratulations on achieving a historical title! You’ve come a long way, haven’t you?]
Its words made you pause, an eyebrow arching. The system had certainly… evolved. It wasn’t just the usual messages of leveling up or congratulatory pings. It talked now, weaving a bit of personality into every line. Its tone had become lighter, its responses more intuitive. It was as if the system was growing, almost developing alongside you. At first, you’d thought you were imagining it, attributing quirks to a basic AI. But now, with it chiming in with what felt like an almost affectionate encouragement, you were certain.
These past five years, you’d had plenty of time to reflect on your unique system. Unlike Jinwoo’s cold, calculating Architect-driven system, yours seemed to possess a curious spark of life. Its instructions were often more considerate, almost guiding rather than commanding. The system didn’t merely throw you into battles; it often hinted at strategies, nudging you toward smarter approaches. In its own way, it cared.
“You know, I’ve been wondering… you’re not like… colder, more rigid,” you said, almost as if testing the waters. “You’re… different.”
There was a brief pause before the system responded, an almost contemplative pause, which only heightened your suspicions.
[Why, thank you! It’s nice to be unique, don’t you think? But… let’s just say, I’m invested in your progress. Besides, you’re different too, right?]
You blinked at that, genuinely taken aback. It wasn’t confirmation, but it wasn’t exactly denial either.
“System, who are you really?” you muttered under your breath, half-hoping for an answer. But as always, silence met your question, leaving you with nothing but a gnawing sense of curiosity. Was this truly the Architect, or had something—someone—else taken over your progression?
Before you could press it further, the system added another message, its usual chirp back in place.
[New Quest: The World Beyond The Garden]
“Alright, fair enough,” you muttered. For now, the Architect’s mystery would have to wait. There was a much more immediate issue at hand.
Your butterflies, your children, flitted around you, red, silver, and gold flashing in the sunlight, each one as lethal as they were beautiful. You could feel their excitement through the bond, a quiet chorus of joy thrumming in the back of your mind. This was as much a victory for them as it was for you—they had fought by your side every step of the way, each swarm expanding your reach, devouring threats that dared to approach the heart of your garden.
“Alright, my lovelies,” you whispered, extending a hand. They swarmed to you instantly, clustering around your fingers, resting on your shoulders. “We did it. Our own territory.” The swarm pulsed in response, their energies mingling with yours, a bond deepening with every beat.
Yet even with victory secured, there was little time to bask in success. If there was one thing you’d learned through these years, it was to always look ahead, to always be prepared. The system had been quiet about what lay beyond this domain, but now you could finally step out of the Gardens, explore what lay outside the invisible walls. A sense of anticipation bubbled within you.
“We need to plan,” you said aloud, pacing along the edge of a moss-covered stone wall, feeling the texture under your fingers as you surveyed the greenery stretching beneath you. “Let’s see…”
---
That night, you sat in what had become your home in the heart of Babylon, a former ruin now restored through countless hours of enchantments, remodeling, and sheer will. In the dim light, the place felt almost like a sanctuary—stone walls covered in ancient carvings, a table cluttered with potion ingredients, maps, weapons, and the occasional butterfly flitting around your head, like watchful little guardians.
You sat in silence, drawing up plans on a worn piece of parchment, contemplating your next steps. For five years, the outside world had been a mystery. But now, you had the Gardens as your fortress, a sanctuary and weapon in one. It was time to venture beyond its walls.
Still, this step forward needed more than a hasty departure. You had built power here, but the unknown was not to be taken lightly. You took a deep breath and gathered your thoughts, knowing you’d need every skill, every spell, every ounce of knowledge you’d gained in the Gardens to be ready.
First order of business. Over the years, you’d grown skilled at forging weapons, crafting potions, and creating everything you needed to survive. But now, with access to the entire Hanging Gardens, you could tap into the rare resources and materials hidden in its depths.
The Guardian beasts you’d slain, each of them, had left their remains scattered across the territory. You’d salvaged much over the years, but you still hadn’t harnessed it all. Each beast’s unique traits—strength, agility, regeneration, and more—could be integrated into your weaponry, imbuing them with abilities you couldn’t have dreamt of before. Your fingers itched with anticipation at the prospect.
“And there’s the greenhouse,” you murmured, glancing toward the faint outline of the glass-laced structure. Your butterflies had thrived within those greenhouses, feeding on the potent poisons and life force the plants exuded. It was a limitless source of strength that you hadn’t fully tapped into yet.
"Imagine the alchemical concoctions we could make with the plants here," you mused, addressing the system as if it were listening. You could almost feel its curiosity flare, and a faint message appeared.
[System: Experimenting with the native flora and fauna may yield unique abilities or enhancements. Proceed with caution.]
You smirked. “Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m not that reckless.”
[…]
“Cut me some slack, will you?”
---
Second order of business. Owning the Gardens meant more than possessing the land—it meant defending it. The system had informed you that only you and your chosen people can enter, but it never hurts to prepare for the worst. Reinforcing the perimeter, setting up traps, and bolstering your creatures’ abilities would all be essential.
And your magic had grown stronger, too. You’d developed barriers that could age intruders to dust, illusions that could confuse and misdirect, and even the ability to harness the energy of the land itself. Now, the gardens were an extension of you; any intruder would feel your presence pressing down upon them like a storm cloud before they ever saw you.
“They’ll regret stepping foot in my domain,” you said with quiet conviction, gripping the scepter-like staff that had become your constant companion. “Won’t they, system?”
A gentle chime followed. It was as close as the system would ever get to an agreement, and it made you grin.
---
Third order of business. Preparing for what lies beyond was easier said then done. What should you do once you stepped out?
You need connections, maybe you should start a business? You considered finding potential allies. During your time in the Gardens, you’d learned to rely on yourself, but the idea of allies… could you even trust someone else in that world? Your gaze hardened. Perhaps, if they could prove their worth. And if they couldn’t—well, your butterflies were always eager to feed.
A flutter of red and gold filled your vision, and you looked up, smiling at your butterflies. They seemed to hover in silent agreement.
“Settle down, my children,” you said, reaching up to let them settle on your hand, “we still have a lot of work to do.”
As the sun dipped lower on the horizon, casting shadows across the gardens, you took in a deep breath, filling your lungs with the scent of the rich, thriving land around you. This was yours now. Every stone, every tree, every creature. It was a haven, a fortress—and perhaps, one day, it would become a kingdom.
---
In the morning, you stood at the edge of a small floating island, more isolated than the rest, overlooking the Gardens in all its galore. Surveying your domain one last time before setting out, the gate situated at the heart of the small temple behind you hummed. The butterflies swirled around you protectively, their connection to you almost buzzing with anticipation.
You took a deep breath, grounding yourself. And with that, you stepped out of the Hanging Gardens, your butterflies trailing after you, their wings catching the first light of dawn. The world beyond awaited.
[Welcome to our world, Sovereign of the Hanging Gardens.]

Hi, anon and thank you for requesting this! I made some minor adjustments to the original idea since I got lost in the process once I began writing. Reader is also fully aware of Ghost’s concerns and messes with him.
Fluffy, the usual banter, an emotionally constipated Ghost, yada yada. Enjoy!

“Again,” Ghost murmurs as he shuffles through the row of tactical knives on the table. He decides on one, picks it up and walks towards you. “What is this?” He asks.
You look up from tying the laces of your boots and redirect your attention at him. He either believes you’re an idiot or doesn’t trust you enough. Either way, it’s not a good sign.
“Good question, Lieutenant,” you reply. “What you’re holding in your hands is a knife. Knives were one of the earliest tools used by humanity to-”
“Cut it out.”
“That’s correct!” you exclaim. “You mainly use one of those to cut stuff.”
A long sigh escapes him, and he throws his head up. He lowers the knife and walks towards the table, scratching the back of his balaclava with the other hand. He takes a few breaths, turns around and lifts the knife again.
“That’s not what I’m asking, and you know it.” He growls. “What kind of knife is it?”
“A sharp one.”
“Stop it.”
“You mean stab it?” you ask and continue tying your laces. “Yes. Yes, you can definitely stab with it.”
He throws the knife onto the table and leans on a chair, holding it with both hands. His brows are tied together, and you can see his jaw tightening beneath the balaclava.
“I need you to focus.” He says firmly. “This is not the right time for jokes.”
You stand up and walk towards him, now standing by his side. You grab his shoulder and squeeze it. He doesn’t budge, yet he slowly shakes his head.
“You’re worried.” You state.
“I’m not worried.” He replies. “I don’t know what Price was thinking; the stakes are too high for this to be your first solo mission.”
“So you don’t trust me.”
“Of course I trust you.” He says and lets go of the chair. “It’s just too dangerous for you to go alone.”
“So you are worried.” You whisper with a smirk.
He looks at you with the side of his eye and picks up a map from the table. He spreads it out in front of him.
“Alright,” he says, “let’s go over the route again.”
“Got it,” you nod. “So, what’s the plan?”
“What do you mean, ‘what’s the plan?’” He shouts, turning to look at you with wide eyes. “We’ve been through this-”
“-a hundred times now.” You interrupt. “Yet you still want to go over it again and again and again and again.”
“I just need you to be ready.”
“I am ready!”
“Then go on,” he says, pushing the map towards you, “what’s the plan?”
“Alright,” you begin, pointing to a door on the eastern side of the facility. “I’ll start here, at the service entrance. It’s not heavily guarded since they mainly use it for their occasional smoke breaks.”
“But you’ll still need to be cautious,” He adds.
You ignore his remark and continue to outline the route.
“From there,” you say, moving your finger along a series of corridors, “I’ll make my way through the maintenance tunnels. They’re narrow and dark but should provide good cover from security patrols.”
“And when you reach the central hub,” Ghost continues, pointing to a large room at the heart of the facility, “you’ll need to be especially careful since that’s where the security is the tightest. There’s only one entry point, so once you get to this door you should-”
“Knock.”
He slowly turns towards you and gives you a side-eye. “You’re not taking this seriously,” he whispers.
“On the contrary, Lieutenant,” you jest. “I’m deadly serious.”
“Deadly serious?” he scoffs and shakes his head. “You might end up seriously dead if you don’t pay attention.”
You roll your eyes and let out a sigh.
“When I get close to that door,” you say, pointing at the map, “I’ll wait for Soap and Gaz to manipulate the security systems and set off the alarms. Once the commotion is at its highest, I’ll infiltrate the hub, collect the intel, and escape through the ventilation shafts.”
“Right,” he says and folds the map. “Do you have everything you need?”
You turn your attention to yourself, checking your tactical vest, and he does the same. His eyes scan over every piece of equipment on you. He walks around you, tracing his fingers along the edges of your gear, checking for any signs of damage. He reaches out to adjust a loose strap on your vest, ensuring it’s securely fastened.
“You need to make sure everything is secure,” he says as he continues to search each pocket and pouch on you, ensuring that your supplies are well-stocked and easily accessible. “We can’t risk losing any essential gear during the mission.”
You follow him with your eyes and smirk as he inspects you. “Is that what worries you?” You ask. “Losing gear?”
He pauses for a second and meets your eyes. “You know what I mean,” he says as he tightens a buckle on your waist. He takes a few steps back and nods. “Everything looks good,” he concludes.
“Alright,” you nod back and walk towards the door. “Let’s do this.”
“Stay sharp out there!” he shouts.
“Yeah, yeah,” You shout back as you exit the briefing room, “sharp like a knife!”
