I was confused by the "Carrie is only 15" thing too. I thought they were all supposed to be the same age (since Turner and Stephanie are in the same classes as Carrie.) But they can't all be 15. the twins must be at least five or six years older if Harper "dated" (past tense) that mob guy (who looked at least 30... right??) I think they need to state how old these characters are supposed to be. Because, imo, it looks a little gross and fucked up if they're all supposed to be 15.

I agree, it's going to be weird if they establish that Turner and Steph are supposed to be 15/16 and then hook them up with (I'm guessing) Duela and Harper.

My original guesses were 17/18 for Turner/Steph/Carrie--probably seniors in high school based on their courses and someone saying that Steph was "ready for MIT" or something like that. Harper dropped out when she was a senior, and that must be at least a year or so back based on how she and Cullen seemed to have adapted to the streets. So I thought she was 19 or 20, and Cullen somewhat younger. She has such big sister energy. But they're twins??

As for Duela, I thought she might be a little older since she seems to be an established criminal. But maybe not? Her backstory is already nuts since she claims to have "grown up" in Arkham. I'm sure child services in Gotham are not the greatest but that seems a little much--especially since the Joker (probably) didn't give birth to her... (BTW, now that we know Harvey already has an alter, I haven't quite given up hope that Duela is his daughter after all.)

For fun, I looked up the actors' ages, and it turns out that Navia (Carrie) is younger than the others--she'll be 18 in May, while Oscar/Olivia/Tyler are around 22/23, Fallon is 25, and Anna is 30 (!! Gotta love CW teen casting).

Seeing those BatFam webtoons of Steph and her dad issues makes me annoyed about One Bad Day: Two-Face all over again. One of the big reasons that issue was popular was because of how Steph didn’t trust Harvey for one second, didn’t feel any sympathy towards him, and criticized Bruce’s own sympathy for Harvey as being stupid and dangerous.

And in the end, the plot vindicates her skepticism when Harvey destroys his noble father for absolutely no reason. Just evil for the sake of evil.

Which only worked because the author went out of her way to create a whole new backstory for Harvey, turning his abusive monster of a dad into a kind, loving, successful man. “All the best parts of me are my father,” Harvey says at one point. This Harvey is written expressly to be exactly the person Steph says he is, just to prove her right. He is just rotten to the core, playing up a “good” side that isn’t really there to manipulate Bruce and others. And there seems to be no reason for it in this story other than to make Steph look like the only sensible person who can see through it.

It wouldn’t have worked the same way if the author had actually incorporated Harvey’s canonical abuse. I still wonder how Steph would react to that Harvey. How much empathy would she have for what he went through? Would she condemn him for not pulling himself up by his boostraps the way she did, choosing to become a hero instead of a monster? Would she take his mental illness into account, or the extent to which he tried to be heroic and was torn down by forces without and within? Or would she be like Dick, and flatly condemn him as a psychopath, unworthy of any sympathy and unable to be salvaged, if not redeemed?

And for that matter, what would that Harvey make of her? Even if she didn’t empathize with Harvey, what if he empathized with her? What if Two-Face decided to pay Cluemaster a little visit, to mete out some justice of his own, and how would Steph react to that?

There’s a far more interesting and troubling story to be written about Harvey with Steph (and/or Cass, for that matter), but it would require a writer who was willing to dive into these complex questions about what makes a monster. Someone willing to acknowledge that Two-Face is both villain and victim, an abusive “survivor” who arguably didn’t actually survive. A walking scar, still seeking out some sense of justice and fairness in his own broken way.

Iris is one of the oldest Flash characters (well, oldest by measure of the Silver Age Flash) and despite the show's problems she was adapted pretty well. Her being pushed aside 100% has to do with her being Black in the adaptation. The most popular ship on Ao3 for that show is her white husband x a white passing supervillain clearly intended to be read as actually white who has been in LITERALLY ~SIX EPISODES. He DIED IN 2016. THEY ARE STILL DOING THIS

Gets mom friended like you wouldn't BELIEVE. People hate her because she was childhood best friends with The Flash and has chemistry with him :( like it's her fault she's sweet and smart and not the male blue coded villain to the red hero. I am so tired

Literally my best friend ever!!! Every time she shows up in a comic I point at her and smile!!! She’s the vigilante known as spoiler & batgirl & was a robin before getting fridged because of editorial mandate and misogyny she deserves so much better @_@. The m/m that some people hate her for is timkon; like they ARE very gay but people are genuinely insane about hating her instead of also realizing that she too is gay (insane amount of subtext w her bff cass). Basically she was Tim’s girlfriend for a long time on and off. People will literally call her abusive for no reason they’ll be like oh but she didn’t apologize for starting a gang war accidentally and faced no consequences for it :/ as if she wasn’t literally KILLED OFF BRUTALLY. And although hate is rarer for her nowadays from what I’ve seen she’s also a victim of Background Lesbian Syndrome. And also a victim of Woman Not Allowed To Have Ocmplex Feelings in the source material itself (tim is canonically bi now yay but like steph wasn’t allowed to have any complicated feelings at all at her on again off again ex breaking up with her for good???). Anyways she’s the light of my life.

she’s the light of my life my baby girl my everything. she canonically dated tim drake, but people love to ship tim with his male friend kon or his male brothers (🤢🤮) and so they constantly sideline her, making her the quirky wingwoman or sometimes even villainizing her by trying to claim she was abusive to tim. i don’t know why so many people hate her my girl will literally just be standing there and people will hate on her.

Stephanie was first introduced in the 1994 Robin series as a side love interest for Robin, but when she turned out to be really popular she became the main love interest. Because of this, she was fully fleshed out as a vigilante calling herself Spoiler to try and take down her villainous father, the Cluemaster. She later grew a lot closer to other cast members, such as Batgirl and Oracle, to get herself a firmly established place among the bats. Then, she dies in a gang war after taking up the Robin mantle. Eventually, in 2009, she was brought back from the dead and took on the Batgirl mantle. Her and Robin get back together sometime around ~2010 and they are solidly together until 2021. Then, Robin breaks up with her off panel for zero reason in canon, only to date some really boring guy named Bernard. By fanon, she's often demonized and turned into an abuser to make either this ship, or a lot of other mlm ships happen. Either that or things are mysteriously set in the time she's dead despite characters who were not yet introduced until she returned appearing. strange.
