First submission for this week's @galladrabbles prompt: control from @thepupperino , and what an amazing prompt it is...I already have multiple drabble plot bunnies forming in my brain 🥰
*********
“C’mon, Mickey, dance with me.”
“No.”
“Please??”
“Not a chance in hell, Firecrotch.”
“Please, baby?”
It was the “baby” that did it, and any illusion that Mickey had any control to say no to this man completely disappeared.
He looked over at Ian, “You know, one day, that’s not going to work.”
Ian grinned, “Thankfully, today’s not that day.”
Mickey took the offered hand and allowed Ian to drag him to the dance floor.
“’s not like I can dance,” he grumbled.
“Sure, you can,” Ian maneuvered Mickey to face away from him, “just move that ass back against me.”

Damian paused when his phone pinged, indicating a message. He tried to ignore all his siblings looking at him with surprise.
In thier defense, they had never seen him casually texting someone outside of the family, and with Bruce, Alfred and the rest of thier patchwork group already present it was clear he wasn't chatting with them.
Damians' expression changed from annoyance to confusion, then to consideration before turning his gaze to Alfred the cat. Without warning, the youngest Wayne walked over and began kneeding the cat like a kitten would do to its mother or a soft blanket.
The reaction was immediate. Alfred let out a startled mmrp, looked confused, then shocked before purring louder than any bat had ever heard a cat before.
Dicked looked over at the screen of damians discarded phone to see two text messages from someone labeled in the contacts as "Nightingale"
<Stop whatever you're doing it will be worth it I promise!>
<Go kneed your cat>
Dick had questions, and by the looks of things, so do the other bats

Danny’s on the Suicide Squad. He’s the defacto team moral compass and ray of sunshine. He plays the role of the camp counselor that keeps everyone in line. He’s not afraid of working with even the gnarliest of baddies.
Everybody on the team wonders how he ended up locked up with the villains- he never talks about what he did to end up behind bars no matter how much they pester him. Then one day they’re out on a mission and Harley or somebody is caught and tortured. Danny snaps. It’s the opposite of brutal- he takes down everyone in the room with clinical, dispassionate efficiency.
After it’s over and the team is safe he comes back to himself and is almost sheepish. He radios Belle Reve.
“Whoops. Add another couple notches on my power dampener collar, would you Waller?”
“Can’t, it’s already at max.”
“Ah. Well. I’ll have a look at strengthening it when we’re back then.”
The team just stared at him slack jawed. Good thing he’s on their side.

advice for a character who grips control like a lifeline. who wants to be in charge of every little thing because whenever they're not in control of something something bad could happen. has happened. they can't let a single variable be wild or in someone else's hands
How to Write a Controlling Character
Backstory Rooted in Trauma or Guilt
This character likely has a history that has ingrained the belief that they must be in control or face devastating consequences. Perhaps they once trusted someone else with something crucial—a promise, a responsibility, or a life-altering choice—and that trust was broken in a way that had lasting repercussions. For example, maybe they lost someone because they weren’t “careful enough,” or they experienced a betrayal when they trusted another person’s plan.
They might frequently flash back to this moment, possibly catching themselves thinking, If only I’d been the one in control, this wouldn’t have happened. This memory fuels their need to keep a tight grip on everything, especially if they’re in high-stakes situations.
Rigid Daily Routines and Habits
This character’s day is probably packed with small rituals and routines that give them a sense of security. From double-checking door locks to setting multiple alarms, they rely on routines to give themselves a sense of order. In fact, they might be nearly ritualistic about small actions—checking emails three times before sending, never leaving a task halfway finished, or meticulously arranging their workspace.
Even something as simple as making coffee can become a precise process. If someone moves one of their tools or a file from their desk, they may feel a spike of frustration or even anxiety, seeing it as a disruption to their personal “system.” They could feel that control in their daily life is the only thing keeping chaos at bay.
Intensely Observant of Details and Mistakes
They are hyperaware of mistakes or inefficiencies in others, mentally cataloging things like a coworker’s slight lateness or a friend’s disorganization. They may feel a sense of superiority (or frustration) over people who don’t “have it together” and take it upon themselves to organize or “fix” things for others.
In conversation, they might cut people off or “correct” them even over small points, often justifying this to themselves as necessary. For instance, if someone shares a plan that seems half-formed, this character could immediately dive in, pointing out potential problems or filling in details.
Controlling Relationships and Social Situations
This character struggles in relationships where they aren’t the dominant or organizing force. They might instinctively take over when making plans with friends, micromanaging even casual hangouts to make sure everything goes “right.” For example, they might pick the restaurant, plan the travel route, and check weather forecasts—assuming that if they don’t, no one else will think of these things.
When someone resists their attempts at control, they can respond defensively, often turning cold or resentful, unable to understand why anyone wouldn’t want them to manage the situation. Statements like, “Fine, but don’t blame me if this doesn’t go well,” are frequent in their interactions.
Extreme Anxiety or Panic When Control Is Taken Away
When things go beyond their reach, this character might experience panic, as if they’re suddenly powerless. For instance, if an unexpected roadblock prevents them from handling a task (like a canceled flight they needed to board, or a plan that falls apart), they might spend hours trying to regain control, calling every contact or frantically exploring alternatives.
Their reaction may feel extreme to others. Even minor setbacks—such as a colleague taking initiative on a project or a friend planning something without consulting them—can trigger a disproportionate response, like clenching their fists, pacing, or silently stewing as they feel the situation “slipping.”
Inability to Accept Help or Collaboration
Their controlling nature makes it hard for them to collaborate, as they believe their methods are the only ones that work. For them, accepting help feels like an admission of weakness or failure, so they rarely delegate or ask for assistance. If they do reluctantly accept help, they are constantly supervising or “suggesting” things, making it feel more like they’re still in charge.
In a team setting, they might take on all the major tasks, either out of distrust in others’ abilities or a feeling that no one will match their standards. Their motto could be something like, “If you want something done right, do it yourself,” even if that means working late or burning out.
Reluctance to Show Vulnerability or Need
Since vulnerability and control rarely coexist for them, they avoid showing weakness at all costs, preferring to mask stress or struggles as “just part of the job.” If they do become overwhelmed, they’re more likely to shut people out, saying, “I’ve got it handled,” even if it’s far from true.
When people push them to let go or share the load, they might lash out, accusing others of “just not understanding.” They often see their intense responsibility as a form of sacrifice, justifying their behavior with, “If I don’t handle this, who will?”

Okay you can’t tell me that Vlad doesn’t have an organ somewhere in his mansion. Upon learning of this, Danny would teach himself how to play the Haunted Mansion theme on the organ and play it at 2am.
Vlad Masters is away on business in Gotham, and the Fentons are coincidentally there for a symposium on ecto-activity. So it’s perfect! Except he goes to the wrong house, er mansion.
Honestly, Danny thought it was one of Vlad’s many mansions. Scaring the old man is his favorite activity after all. There’s a higher amount of ectoplasm here, so it has to be Vlad’s place right?
When Bruce comes out (on one of his few nights off) and sees his carbon copy playing the organ, all thoughts fly out of his head. Danny finally looks up and also blue screens. They stare at each other for what feels like an eternity until Danny’s cell phone rings (the ghostbusters theme??) and he panics. He jumps up and makes a break for the other door rushing through apologies “SorryWronghousegottagobye!” And runs out of the room. “Wait! Who are you?”Bruce exclaims as he rushes after him. They’re on the second story in one of the rooms he rarely uses. How did he know where the organ was? No matter. He’ll catch the kid on the stairs.
Except the kid is already almost at the bottom. How did he get down so effortlessly? The kid practically floated down the stairs.
Bruce gets to the foyer just in time to see the kid realize the door was dead-bolted in multiple spots. He won’t be able to undo them all before Bruce catches up to him.
He slows down and stands behind a pillar, assessing his next move. He needs to be careful here. This is a child after all, no need to spook him any more than he already has. He needs to slowly approach, and ask his questions.
But then the kid does the unexpected. After looking around frantically, he takes a deep breath. Two rings form around his middle and travel up and down his body. His black hair turns ghostly white. He looks back, almost directly at Bruce. His eyes widen as if he realizes he’s being watched. He whispers, barely loud enough to hear, “I’m so sorry, please don’t follow me.” Then, he backs through the locked door and vanishes.

brainwashing tropes are fantastic and I love a deep POV whumpee fighting against their own mind but I just had a vision of the team, weapons raised against a feral opponent wearing the face of their friend, turning towards caretaker/leader/whoever knows them best. "you're the only one they'll listen to. Tell them to stand down."
caretakers with hoarse, pleading voices, hands raised in surrender. "it's me, you know me! why are we fighting? you don't want to hurt us!"
leaders who hate their authority, commanding a firm, no-nonsense tone. "weapons down, Whumpee. that's an order."
brawn characters, arms outstretched, speaking plainly. "come on. y'know i don't want to hurt you, but I will if I have to."
the rest of the team waits with bated breath. if this doesn't work, blood will be spilled. their last hope of getting Whumpee back relies on one character's words. that tense, pleading standoff, conflict in their eyes.
does it work? or does it take a fight to wake their friend from the nightmare?

DC X DP PROMPT
Many in Gotham forget that the Joker was once a normal man. That the deranged mad man was once just like them. Many don’t want to remember the fact that it was society that broke him, that when he needed others the most no one came to help him. How he turned to a life of crime and when Batman showed up to stop him… the Bat failed to save him.
But that’s the thing about the Joker, he could have been fine. He could have been helped, right up until he fell in that vat at Ace Chemicals. That vat of ectoplasm changed him, amplifying everything about himself. Every dark thought brought to the surface.
Well up until the Joker finds an injured child in Gotham, the child siphoning something out of him. Suddenly Joker’s mind was quieter than ever, no laughter or pain. He was relaxed. He looked to the child before him, now looking better than before.
Joker: Well that’s a new one, how would you like an apprenticeship?

Danny’s ghost form was harder to hold together the farther away he was from the ghost portal. A solution found by Danny & Tucker was to create a robot body that Danny could possess that stabilized his form. The ectoplasm molding itself into the machine and possession causing Danny to become one with the tech, letting him not only use his ghost powers but also unique weaponry and gadgets built into his robot body.
An added bonus is that no one thinks he’s a ghost or even a human.

2nd submission for this week's @galladrabbles prompt: control from @thepupperino
*******
“Fuck…please, Mickey? Jesus christ…”
A smile played on Mickey’s lips, “Nice try, lover, but you know I’m the one who has the control here.”
Ian nodded and swallowed thickly. He was usually the one who maneuvered Mickey’s body into different positions, but when Mickey wanted to try something different, Ian had been all in.
Until he found himself handcuffed to their bedframe, unable to grip Mickey’s hips as he rode Ian’s cock slowly.
Which wouldn’t have been that bad, except he seemed determined to drive Ian crazy as he ran his hands over his body and moaned, “Oh god, Ian!!!!”

Justice dark comes immediately when Robin made a call about the Phantom in the titan communicator.
Phantom, one of the infinitely most precious high king and owner of Constantine's full soul, has been presumed missing about 15 years in due to a birthday incident when one of the god pranks went wrong.
Constantine had to erase Amity Park history off for a bit to find the right contract to fix that load of a fucked up mess because he didn't want to deal with a possessed high king off the rail when his main obsessed was his Haunt so he just kept everyone attention off it until he fixed it.
He didn't expect the Teen Titans to find out about it. He thought batman would be first. Apparently, Raven saves the town along with the people in it. Probably due to being trigon's daughter neutralizing the alert sense of the High king radar.
Constantine lifts a broken necklace with a blue gem using anti-magic tongs. This was the source of the problem. It is going straight in the cursed pile in the house of mysteries.
Constantine got up and walked through the portal, leading to a Titans medbay where Jazz Fenton, Sam Manson, Tucker Foley sat cross.
Frostbite next to an unconscious Phantom in the bedrest, monitoring several IV bags full of vitamins and pure ectoplasm.
Now here come another crapton of problem, he should've brought his heavy alcohol stash dammit.
Part 1 here <-

Fic prompt #6
Dpxdc
Danny Phantom was slowly come to realizes that he became practically invincible
When he first became a ghost, he had no control over his powers, he didn’t understand them and made a lot an error, some terribly embarrassing.
But the more ghosts he fought the more simple it became.
Even then there were the ghosts tech of his parents, the blood blossoms and other things that could easily be used against him.
Three years after his death, he realized that it wasn’t the case anymore.
He had full control of his powers, he learned way to neutralize every sort of weapons that his parents, the GIW or even Vlad could create, and after a lot of study about magic and occult even the blood blossoms weren’t a problem anymore.
Plus the title of ghost king, that grant him political protection (ghost law were no joke), he couldn’t think of anything with the powers to hurt him.
Not that he wanted to be ended, or use his powers or position for evil, but still it wasn’t something to take lightly.
Nowadays Amity Park was peaceful, his parents and the GIW weren’t capable of doing him any more harm, and he had make peace with mostly of his rougue, so to said that he was surprised when the justice league arrived at his haunt was an understatement.
They also seem to think he was a villain that kept the town hidden to the world (it was the GIW’s fault)
They wanted to exorcise him
Which was absolutely ridiculous, he couldn’t literally be exorcised because he was half alive .
He tried many time explaining that they were being exploited and manipulated by the real villains (nowadays there wasn’t anyone that believed that ghosts were all evil)
There are been a lot of people who tried explaining that too, but that just add brainwashing the city to his crime
He was at his wits end with them, he literally could kill them with a single shot of ectoblast , but he wasn’t an assassin.
Truth to be told he was starting to think that become one wasn’t a bad thing.
In a month of their bullshit, the city was starting to take a toll . He never even attacked them, he just dodged and take the civilians out of the way.
They couldn’t hurt him, but there was always the possibility that they come to realize that he doesn’t wanted any harm on the citizens, and use them as hostages, the only reason the GIW haven’t done that was because they truly thought he couldn’t careless if they died (even if the proves say otherwise).
He tried searching for magical solutions because all the human one failed
He could make them his slave
In this way they would have to leave him alone, he didn’t even need to make anything ominous.
He would just convince their mind that the city was safe and to never disturb him again!!
It was perfect!!!

I am such a slut for Danny having supernatural strength and being able to kill someone with a single slap because he’s used to fighting ghosts who are built Sturdy (and literally can’t die, that is very helpful in a sparing partner) so he has to learn such meticulous control when he moves to Gotham where he starts regularly getting into scuffles with humans who think he’s an easy target (he looks like he has the sturdiness of a wet newspaper) and the whole time he’s more stressed about not drawing the Bats attention by being too good or accidentally killing someone so he has to walk that fine line of acting like a scrawny loser and dipping out at his first chance without being clocked as a meta.
Danny, laying on the ground and getting kicked repeatedly by a thug: *tries to angle himself so the guy can kick out a knot in his back*
Danny: *deadpan* oh, ow, stop that hurts, oof
Robin, watching from the rooftop and recognizing the dramatics from the Supers: father there is a meta
Batman, also watching and having flashbacks to Clark’s earlier days: *so so tired and already mentally getting the adoption paperwork ready*
