Okay so to add to the superfam x neglected! reader! What if the reader is an absolute nerd with engineering (mechanical, computer, electronics, software, and robotics) and as they slowly grew comfortable with Lex Luthor, they just found themselves yapping away about the functions of the Omnitrix, interesting projects they're working on, and what they want to do yk. And when Jon sees you out and about and tries to follow after you, wanting his sis back, he loses track of you. Lex just finds a note stating that the cloaking tech works, but after 30 seconds, it fried. He doesn't ask, he already knows. But if you told him, he would obediently listen.

Kon is straight up thinking Lex brainwashed you. He refuses to believe you're doing that out of your own free will and is actively plotting with Tim and Young JL.

It was eerie how much you resembled Kon in his early days as "the real, new Superman" but the difference was in the way you actually were strategic in your flirting. Just enough to charm, but not enough to insinuate a possibility of more. Not that Lex would allow anyone to sniff around you, he has a strict list of requirements for the ideal one, and he's sure no one will hit all of them.

Honestly- he may as well start creating an android, the perfect one, to be the right lover. You shut that idea down quick. "Feels wrong to create an android and take away its free will. There are so many movies and games about why that's a bad idea."

All he hears is to create an android with another main mission, and just let the thing fall in love with you on its own. mari agreed to the hunt and akilah made it possible by killing the animals to distract shauna, so they're the masterminds of that operation. judging by nats reaction she was only made aware of it after the fact/before the hunt

gen led tai away during the hunt so mel could slow shauna down to give mari more of a chance, and mel went off script trying to kill her. i have to believe that's only a mel thing or at most a genlissa thing because nat never would have signed off on it BUT maybe mari (and akilah) knew too "you deserve everyhing thats coming to you"? unless she meant post-rescue (as in, she wouldnt keep her mouth shut about what shauna has become), because i cant see mari akilah or gen planning to murder shauna tbh.

idk who to have as the survivors in this because idk who / how many will survive but we obviously have teruko and im weirdly thinking Arturo? for no other reason than he just strikes me as an unlikely survivor.

BUT BASICALLY rose is considered a survivor with the rest of them and the usual "who's the mastermind!!" business goes around but they keep getting the wrong person. they keep pinning it all on teruko (or mayb someone else if i figure out a proper survivor bunch) until rose just. admits to it. and its so sudden that people think she's bluffing or trying to mess up the trial (which is weird for her) but she's really insistent.

Eventually he just starts talking straight to Monotv and is asking if they can all go now because she's done that she was told to. That's when it's like "nuh-uh-uh :))) remember everyone has to die!" and she's arguing and going against it. What does it expect her to do- kill the herself?? Her physical strength seems average at best (with her struggling to do a pull-up but still beating Hu in an arm wrestling game) and Teruko can't be killed.

Eventually the conversation changes to more of like. the deal that was put between XF-ture and Rose. She's saying how she's done all she can and how Monotv can handle the executions because she won't (or can't) do it herself. They briefly mention when XF-ture can do the memory erasal and Monotv just goes

"That was only part of the deal if you had succeeded. Which you have not." "If we let you go, you could spread information under our nose."

So this is when it gets like. insane and far more au then theory because wires and stuff physically imbed themselves into her as well as forces that sort of 'screen' over her eyes onto her. Anyone who tries to help is held at weapon-point and when Teruko decides to try (since she knows she won't die from the weapons one way or another) she's restrained by more wires. It's one big technological takeover and by the time Rose stops screaming she's basically part of the building's entire technology system. The others try calling out to her but there's zero response.

Monotv goes on to say how now Rose can perform the executions and how the information stored in her brain will be very useful to them ('them' being the XF-ture corporation and like. prolly mai im like 99% sure the new voice is mai).

Even if they do manage to make it out though Rose is stuck there for good. They could pry her out of the wires and machines but she'd die from Lots of internal bleeding before anything could be done.

i think his 'it was a mistake' was also about him realizing that his machinations helped the green's PR team. he is trying to gain support for rhaenyra and now he's made it that much harder when they see her as a kinslayer and baby killer. i will say i truly don't understand why rhaenyra is so shocked by this. not only does she know the type of man daemon is, but what was she expecting to do once she took the crown? if aegon's children still lived they would always be a threat to her and her children. there's no way she thought exiling them or holding them under house arrest or making them bend the knee would have worked in the long run. even if she presented them/heleana with the same deal she did laenor there is always a risk someone would find out or they would grow up to amass an army to take back what they viewed was their's. there's always going to be people scheming to take her off the throne simply for being a woman. leaving an alternative male heir alive makes zero sense in the long run. not me condoning daemon's actions, but i'm just baffled how she seemed so upset by an innocent child dying when the fact that jaehaerys being alive at all would have spelled disaster for her reign and the future of her line.

idk i kind of hate how the writing is making her more passive and stupid when it comes to political intrigue. it's taking away her agency by making daemon the mastermind behind all the evils the blacks were responsible for. i would have much preferred to see her not only be the grief stricken mother looking to go scorched earth, but also the one thinking 10 steps ahead by eliminating any future threat to her crown. i get they don't want to make her monstrous and have her more sympathetic, but i just feel like making daemon the responsible party and her left dealing with the consequences just weakens her character. i know the story basically is making all the terrible deeds in this war the men's fault and the women are left burdened with consequence, but it steals away from their agency imo. i think it made sense in s1 where the men are portrayed as the reason this war started, but this season should have given the women more autonomy over their choices in how the war progresses.

LOL well that would certainly make more sense than him calling it a mistake because he didn't want Jaehaerys to die. And I agree, obviously it's horrific, but this was always the endgame if Rhaenyra wanted to keep the throne and pass it on to her illegitimate children, the entire Green line would have to be extinguished so Jaehaerys was always a goner and it's bizarre to pretend otherwise. I think these six asks capture most of the talking points in the asks I've received since yesterday, so I'll use these to answer your questions.

The sheer amount of spin happening in the media right now is ridiculous lmaoo. With the mention of BTS in the "escape files", ARMYs have predictably moved from shady bystanders to actively joining in the negative spin, spreading rumor articles and many are now attacking the girls themselves. But honestly, this is nothing less than what I expected. NewJeans is the most popular group in Korea, the 2nd most valuable IP only behind BTS, and Min Heejin is the brains behind the operation - an achievement she's insisted on taking full credit for since inception. Leaving the only option for whoever is masterminding this from within and outside HYBE, to destroy her reputation as an executive completely to diminish her value to outside investors, and weaken the fan support for NewJeans given how closely they are already associated with MHJ. And that's what is happening. It impacts every group at HYBE and nearly obliterates the viability of NewJeans.

For HYBE, it's a tolerable loss given there's only one year left before BTS returns and closes that earnings gap in mere months. Whoever took this action sees it simply as resulting in a numerical loss that can be soon corrected, but personally, I disagree, for the same reasons I objected to HYBE's acquisition of SM even though on paper it made numerical sense.

Anon in ask 1: I can understand your surprise but sad as it is to say, I expected that response from MHJ. She's a creative, not a PR exec or an MBA-credentialled suit. I'm not sure how familiar you are with ADOR's press releases in general, but anybody who reads them can tell there's almost no corporate doublespeak, no vague allusions, nothing that shows it's written by a typical media-trained PR person. Which is why most people, including you, take that statement to mean NewJeans agrees with MHJ that Illit copied them (it's a possibility), when in reality the language shows it could refer to them agreeing with MHJ's assertion that HYBE hasn't duly responded to her requests about inter-label discrimination, or other related matters. That's the kind of detail a trained PR person would be sure to include, to minimize the fallout to NJ, but just as with the press release on Cookie, the one on Minji's rival sasaeng, the response to Hyein's veneer rumours, and practically every press release ADOR has put out, the language is unsophisticated.

Anon in ask 2: I'd say that's not a conspiracy exactly but it is kinda pushing it. Anytime there's a stock dip it's a buying opportunity, and HYBE is always guaranteed to be a Buy so long as BTS is slated to return within 12 months of the stock event. But we simply don't have any clear indications that's the case now given the timing doesn't quite line up. If anything, that is more like the 4th order side-effect.

And yeah, people on the corporate side, not just in k-pop, are many times just that petty. But it's also true this case has been sensationalized in particular ways to appeal to k-pop stans specifically.

None of these options are good, but the worst of these evils is option 2. If the members attempt to leave with her, there's no pretty way to say this, but they'll be done. I'm not even going to waste time writing all the ways HYBE and k-pop stans as a whole will rip them to shreds, all I'll say is that whoever is attached to these girls should consider taking a 6 months sabbatical away from k-pop entirely once that news breaks. The law is not on their side and public opinion, especially after all the 'leaks' and spin from HYBE in the last 72 hours, certainly isn't on their side either. It would be career suicide.

Personally, I think yes. Every label at HYBE had similar initial monetary investment as NewJeans and ADOR had, and other groups from the Big 3 have had even bigger investments and resources at their disposal. There isn't a single group, both within HYBE and outside HYBE, that has yielded the same results as NewJeans in the same period of time. Illit comes close, but even with their achievements they haven't reached the same (positive) notoriety as NewJeans did at debut. All HYBE groups have access to HYBE's youtube channel, connections and resources, and yet the achievements of BOYNEXTDOOR, LE SSERAFIM, ENHYPEN, and even ILLIT, are nowhere near comparable to that of NewJeans. And I agree with MHJ that she's the primary reason why. Having access to resources is only one part of the equation. How you allocate those resources and what you do with it is far more important, and this is where MHJ and ADOR excels relative to other sub-labels.

NewJeans without MHJ will not be nearly as threatening to everyone else in k-pop, and I suspect this is one reason there have been calls for her to be removed from managing the group since their debut.

Anons in ask 3 & 6: Yeah there's a fair bit of greed on show here. Generally, for a lot of people in this industry, greed is good... unless the greedy person is a woman. Because the only thing more central to nasty corporate tussles like this, more than greed, is ego.

I'm not trying to play the gender card, but sometimes I do wonder why there are no articles like this about people like Jaden Jeong and Simon Jakob given the reputation those men have in corporate circles, where top officials (in this case, within HYBE) are saying they cannot possibly work with MHJ because she is "overly and excessively opinionated". I'm highlighting this article because despite the initial paragraphs of spin, that bit is the only thing consistent with MHJ's claim that this attack from HYBE started because she'd filed a whistleblowing report on toxic inter-label competition and followed up an email that said quote:

"..is this deliberate obtuseness and unapologetic behaviour consistent with HYBE's founding philosophy of rebelling against unfair practices in the entertainment industry?"

I mean... in corporate Korea, I can see how they were sick of her shit and it was only a matter of time before she got the boot.

The insidious thing about spin is that it mixes the truth with lies, making it easy for people to accept it wholly. It's entirely possible that MHJ wants more compensation, more autonomy and independence, feels that Belift and other companies borrowed her ideas without full credit, and that she was unsupported by HYBE HQ. It's entirely possible that she took actions such as monitoring fan feedback of the group(s) she suspects and filing a whistleblowing report to build a case - according to both MHJ and others at HYBE, these are complaints she's apparently had since last year, but none of those things would justify HYBE's response nor is it enough to turn people against her.

What I find particularly interesting about this case, is that everything that decisively incriminates her of the more sensational and sinister allegations, comes from the person of VP L or CEO A - a person who only joined ADOR in January 2024, shortly after which HYBE received their first tip-off that MHJ was planning to escape. It's VP L who titles documents with the equivalent of "TOP SECRET DO NOT TOUCH" on company computers... the same guy that's supposedly a double agent working in favour of MHJ and ADOR but is situated within ADOR, not HYBE, where simple logic shows he'd be most useful. Unless he's situated right where he's supposed to be.

Anyway...

HYBE has requested for a shareholder meeting on April 30th where they'll likely table the motion for MHJ to resign regardless of what's found in the audit. Far as I know, she's completed the audit questionnaire but not surrendered her laptop as HYBE has requested. Given the play is for HYBE to kick her out while continuing to manage NJ, I can see how she'd rather die than surrender her laptop and hand over her ideas (and potentially incriminating info) to HYBE on a silver platter for them to use in her wake.

Every way this shakes out is bad news for HYBE groups IMO. So long as NewJeans keeps quiet and sides with HYBE, they'll be somewhat okay. But regardless of the fallout from HYBE cannibalizing itself, all HYBE groups have no choice but to take it on the chin and bide their time until BTS comes back to capture the attention back to them.

I do like setting a stage but I think I've been getting better at dropping details throughout a story instead of infodumping in the first few paragraphs. This was a nice chance to actively analyze my writing :)

Because I just finished season 5 of Bungou Stray Dogs, I would like to provide my personal thoughts and opinions. This has been this months hyperfixation. I have not read the manga, but plan to.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

Okay, so to start off, I have been shaken to my core by the amount of emotional turmoil this put me in. Like the plot twists???? I couldn't even crochet while watching because I'd look up and see something else crazy happen. It didn't matter how much I could've been spoiled because it would have been twisted around anyway.

Like when I saw screencaps of Chuuya as a vampire?? I was so mad because I thought for sure he was gonna die. BUT HE WASN’T A VAMPIRE AT ALL. I couldn't believe it. I was absolutely flabbergasted. Who knew you could trip up one of the smartest men in the world with a pair of contacts and some Spirit Halloween teeth.

Tachihara being an undercover Port Mafia member?? Threw me across the room. The leader of The Hunting Dogs being the big villain? Killed me. Teruko being the one to unlitmately end Fukachi's life?? Are you kidding me?

Dazai was, of course, a mastermind as always. Had me pulling my hair out, but it's fine. Every time he gets in these sticky situations, I get so anxious. But I should know better since he's the way that he is. I thought for sure he was gonna die and then he says "you can't kill me" like?? It's almost like he's mocking me lol

Also?? We were blessed with some Dazai forehead???? I really tried to find a photo but I just couldn't it.

ALSO Dazai had so many facial expressions that I feel like he just? Never has? He always has that smug look on his face and seeing him expressive is really...nice.

Also, the whole thing with Aya and Bram was so sweet. Like she was literally the one who saved everybody from the vampires. And now, she can actually have a father figure instead of the icky one she had. This was such a cool little part of this arc. Probably one of my favorite parts.

Speaking of favorite parts, I loved the prison break. The intensity of this part was absolutely phenomenal. I was so sure that Chuuya drowned, but I knew Fyodor couldn't be killed that easily. And when the reverse happened with Dazai and Sigma, I figured they wouldn't die because that's too simple (at least for Dazai anyway). I really like the interactions between the two.

Chuuya shooting Dazai had me so concerned. I wasn't sure if that would actually kill him, but he legit shot him?? Idk it looked pretty convincing to me.

I'm so mad Fyodor killed Sigma. So mad. He was adorable. The most sane person in that whole building. Bless his heart. I was so convinced that he was gonna join the Armed Detective Agency if he had survived.

If I had to spend more than a few minutes with Dazai and Fyodor in the same room, I'd lose my mind. Don't even get me started on Nikolai. He was scary tbh.

OMG and Dazai handing him Fyodor's ARM??????

This whole season shoved me into a janky washing machine and rung me out to dry. I absolutely loved it.

Honestly I think I hate Cersei because she thinks she is some mastermind while she isn’t. Tywin and how he keep holding power for so long is very interesting, btw I love Tywin and Kevan dynamics. Jaime is my fave i just love his storyline. As for Tyrion, there are 2 of them. The book one and the show one. Show one I hate. Book one I kinda enjoy because he constantly flirts with darkness. I don’t buy show Tyrion poor misunderstood meow meow. And I hate that they did the same with show Aemond. That’s why I prefer Aegon and Daemon. From the beginning you know where they stand, there are no attempts to make them sympathetic bullshit. Stop whitewashing characters in order to make characters more sympathising for audience. The reason why the Joker, Soprano Family and Roy family from Succession are so great is because they aren’t portrayed as some poor people being victims of their circumstances all their life. Aemond wanting to console Jace at Driftmark? What the fuck is that? Also giving him sexual trauma made me laugh. The show made it clear I and everyone else is meant to feel sorry for him but I just laughed at how pathetic they are. Like you have weak Viserys, pedo Daemon, rapist and drunkard Aegon and traumatised and with only one eye Aemond. So yeah, the winner of who should be the fan favourite is clear. Instead of showing the 4 of them as bad and letting people choose who their favourite is, they create 3 of them in unsympathetic light and make one of them #1 victim and the other 3 as monsters or weak men. Sorry but I hate the narrative where I am being shown down my throat who I am supposed to love and who to hate. Especially if 3 out of 4 characters are doing terrible things and only one behaves properly until starting the war. I really can’t wait for Aemond to burn Riverlands, most stans would leave his fanclub and began to see Aegon is not the worst guy out there. I just hope TGC won’t stop playing Aegon until the moment Aemond will show everyone what a legit psycho he really is.

idk what to tell you, anon, this is not exactly the blog for cersei haters. i've always found this prevailing tendency of enjoying jaime as a character but disliking cersei to be very strange, bc their POVs are so intertwined and they are as delusional & "awful" as the other so i don't really see the point here. it's a choice i would personally interrogate bc more often than not it has some v unsavory roots. cersei can be just as funny as jaime and he can be just as unhinged as her. also cersei's dumbness is greatly exaggerated, she does have some good ideas and a knack for getting out of tricky situations (some of them of her own making, yes, but she's hardly the idiot fandom likes to paint her as). fans sure love to think they would have made better decisions had they been in her situation.

she also suffers from getting a POV so late in the game, in comparison to her brothers, and is way more affected psychologically by the death of her son than jaime is + the prophecy hanging over her head. she's basically having the worst mental health crisis in AFFC and getting judged for not being Machiavelli's Prince

as for the rest of the message, as i've said in a previous post, i see this desire to not allow characters to be anything other than cardboard villains very reductive and not smth i'm personally interested in fiction. narrative bias and needless demonisation at the expense of others is one thing, but, generally-speaking, why is it somehow superior if they only receive dark traits instead of being humanized & muddled? why is it better writing if aemond is only shown as a psycho killing machine? are the literature gods going to get angry if he tries to be polite one time? the roy siblings weren't coddled by the narrative but they were also shown acting like human beings (clumsily) trying to connect with people

also no actor is going to turn down hbo money and the opportunity to appear in one of the most viewed shows of the year, so i don't see why tgc would stop playing aegon, unless he were fired. these people are professional actors, they may not like or agree with certain character choices but they don't have the luxury of turning down jobs bc of their character is not "true to the text". they still have bills to pay.

okay let's get into my thoughts of each track based on the titles: Track 1 - Fortnight (ft. Post Malone) POST MALONE??? i swear, i'm not joking, i had like a dream or a thought a little while ago that was like "lmao what if taylor collaborated with post malone what would that be like- she would never tho that would be crazy" so ig i manifested it?? ngl i don't listen to post malone and i haven't heard many of his songs. except i think that one song about circles that was on the radio a lot a while ago when i would listen to the radio all the time was his song. it was fine, kind of annoying tho once i heard it too much. i'm really not sure what to expect with the song, but i do like the title. a fortnight is two weeks so i'm curious if time will have a significance in this track, let alone the album. she wore a clock choker last night and kept asking Tree if her watch was set correctly, apparently to midnight, so i have a feeling time may be a theme within the album. idk but fortnight just gives me middle ages castle vibes so i'm curious if this song will have modern vibes, old hollywood vibes, or like ancient vibes when it comes to setting.

Track 2 - The Tortured Poets Department the titular track!! okay i genuinely have no ideas whatsoever for what this song could be about. maybe another anti-hero/yoyok type song? or even like a mastermind/labyrinth type love song? tbh idk- im really curious to hear other theories or opinions on this track so pls share !!

Track 3 - My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys 101% about a bf who once treasured and loved their relationship starts letting it die (cough joe cough). that phrase is so powerful because it provides the perfect imagery to show "yeah he loved me a lot, but he also hurt me" whether or not he knew it, he did it. this title definitely gives me like poetry title vibes so i'm curious what not only the lyrics will be but what the actual musical element will sound like.

Track 4 - Down Bad OH BOY A DELUSIONAL TRACK YES PLEASE. i can already tell that a running theme within this album is like wanting someone you can't have or loving someone too much that it's an issue. oh boy am i ready for the down bad delusional song this track will give us. i'm really hoping it'll be more of a happy delusional than a sad unrequited love delusion because i could see it going in that direction and as clever as that is i would like to be supported in my delusions. i'm really excited for this song.

Track 5 - So Long, London I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO TALK ABOUT THIS ONE OMG. THIS IS THE WHOLE REASON IM MAKING THIS POST. OH BOY. OKAY SO. the parallel to London Boy is CLEAR. bye bye joe. FAREWELL. we are officially done and over. there is no way in which i can look at this track title and not think "this is about joe" because it just so clearly is and i am HERE for it. i am curious if it's going to be a bad bitch call-out track or a sad mourning track...we'll just have to wait and see ig! (just realized it's a track 5 so it could be more emotional, but maybe she'll go a different route this time? i don't know but it'll be great fs)

Track 6 - But Daddy I Love Him OH MY GOD. as a lesbian it's frustrating that i'm sure many of these songs will be heavy on the "he's a boy" so it'll be harder for me to sing along earnestly, BUT that being said...i CANNOT WAIT for this track. i honestly don't know what the vibe will be for it but i'm sure it's phenomenal and i can't wait to hear it.

Track 7 - Fresh Out the Slammer is this a phrase? am i out of the loop? hold on lemme look it up..okay all i've learned is that there are several other songs with this same name. truly have no clue what this could be.

Track 8 - Florida!!! (ft. Florence + The Machine) i. i don't even know what to expect. i think i might just expect nothing because that way i'll definitely be surprised and delighted.

|| So I'm a little silly and I would love to write this verse, so here's some thoughts on the modern au idea I had for Focalors/Vaitiare~ LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO WRITE WITH HER!!

I was thinking about naming her Nerina since that's her original Oceanid name, but since Furina exists in this world, that would be a bit too complicated XDD SO her name is Vaitiare Eaubelle (it’s a little on the nose if you know what it means, but there’s an npc named “my mom” in French so I think it’s fine XDD)~

Vaitiare is a single mom, and Furina is her 7-8 year old daughter (this may be changed to Furina is her 7-8 year old sister but I like the idea of her being her daughter more XDD)~

I’m not entirely set on a job for her, but I have a THOUGHT… I’m thinking something like one of those judge shows, but the “judge” in question is actually a machine that’s been programmed with knowledge on all of the laws and judicial systems. Vaitiare created this robot. She also works backstage while the cases are going on so she can override the robot if needed. The thing is, no one knows who made the robot (and no one knows that sometimes it’s faulty and someone has to control it). But the show is a HIT soooo she’s rich, even though no one knows she’s the mastermind XDD needless to say, she’s a genius, especially in judicial matters~ (or maybe I just make her a normal judge…idk XDD)

Vaitiare is busy a lot, but she ALWAYS shows up for every school play Furina is in~ and Furina is usually the lead, naturally XDD Obviously, Furina is much happier in this verse!!

I’m not fully sure what happened to Furina’s dad… I like the idea of he was actually executed for whatever reason or killed by some group in power (in this case, he would have themed of Egeria). If this happened, he was Vaitiare’s husband and Furina was a baby when he died. Orrrr…. maybe it was a one night stand. I wouldn’t really put it past Vaitiare to do something like that and raise Furina with grace and joy despite how it happened~ XDD

well i can try to address the Singed side of things, since i've been brainrotting over his arc in particular.

big spoilers for both seasons, so putting under a cut

1. Singed is a Genius

no, this isn't going where you might think it is, but yeah, i'm making this claim.

singed is one of, if not the most intelligent and conniving character in the show. getting into detail on that is a whole other topic for a separate post -- but i'll summarize that, digging a little deeper into the few scenes he's depicted in, it becomes clear just how masterfully he's playing his cards. every major plot point he masterminds from the shadows, he upends the course of the plot itself, playing everyone off of one another such that he comes out with exactly what he wants.

were Singed more invested in... anything else going on, he'd be a genuinely terrifying master manipulator. but as he is, he's completely amoral and utterly convicted in his single goal to revive Orianna. from the first time we ever see him to the last -- from shimmer to Warwick to the Machine Herald and everything in between -- he is working with an incredible dedication toward that one ultimate objective. which he, eventually, does achieve!

but.

2. It's Not A Happy Ending, Part 1: Orianna

despite getting exactly what he'd spent the entire show working toward... i can't really say it's a happy ending for Singed.

this becomes apparent looking at that final sequence (where we see a revived Orianna):

arcane likes to use visual symbolism a lot, and here is certainly no exception.

look at what's in scene: Orianna's reflection is broken up into three different mirrors, only one of which Singed is present in. we only see half her face, and it's blank and expressionless. her flower is sealed in glass.

(i expect this might be elaborated on in act 3, but) the language here is clearly indicating that Orianna is not the person she once was -- not the daughter Singed wanted back. he poured his life, body and soul, into pulling her back from the dead -- but what, or who, exactly did he get at the end of it all?

3. It's Not a Happy Ending, Part 2: Viktor

Singed met Viktor early on, and given the near-complete apathy he regards everyone else with throughout the series, it really stands out just how fondly he obviously thought of Viktor.

(pictured above: the only time Singed ever attempts to defend his actions, and it's to kid Viktor.)

even far in the future, when they meet in the commune -- Singed respects Viktor, defends his agency as a person, is visibly discontent doing things to Viktor he knows will hurt him (even at Viktor's own request).

Singed is not a person inclined to emotional expression, nor sentimentality -- he indirectly destroys countless lives and cares nothing for them -- but Singed himself loses what he could have had with Viktor through his own actions, and he clearly feels this loss.

on some level, he knows what he lost — but his conviction was stronger. was this for the better or for the worse?

this is, ultimately, what i believe the point of Singed's narrative arc is. his single-minded pursuit of his goal, the impossible task of reviving a long-dead daughter, blinds him to everything else he could have had until it's far too late. and he gains what he originally sought for... but does he really? and what has he lost along the way?

"His quest led him astray of any trodden path. His own shadow dissolved to darkness. Now the only course was forward. The only warmth, a dream of her waltz." - Singed, reading from a storybook to Orianna in her death-sleep -- the quote that i believe holds the key to putting all this together.

idk. that's the end of my thoughts on the matter. i just think Singed is such a cool character, and a hell of a lot more nuanced than the "he fucks everyone over and gets a happy ending for it" conclusion most people seem to take at face value.

Somebody tell me why the fuck Singed got his happy ass little ending and meanwhile Ekko, poor, sweet, Ekko, is just fucking alone on a bridge mourning the love of his life who he thinks is dead. Why? Just. Why?

About a fox cub whose parents were killed by hunters, and he has to learn to live on his own. He’ll get under his uncle’s care.

The next movie is called

Cat city

/in my language it’s a pun: instead of mouse trap it’s called “cat-trap” so idk why they translated this way…

It’s about two societies: cats’ and mice’s. The mice are constantly harassed by the cats, so they build a machine to tame the cats. It's a political comedy. (Also, we don't talk about the sequel...what sequel!?)

The next movie is my favourite, called

Vili the Willow

I found this translation online, but he’s a sparrow so idk. When I wrote this I thought it meant sparrow lol…

Anyway: It’s about a brat boy who mistreats birds and so a lady visits him to ask the boy to stop harassing the sparrows. He doesn’t listen to her, but she turns out to be a witch, thus she turns the boy into a sparrow for a day to teach him a lesson, but when she goes back to retransform him, She can't find him anywhere. He got chased by his own cat and then he got lost in the city. He has to find his way back, makes new sparrow friends and learns valuable lessons along the way. (This isn't from my country per say, but it's very popular here.)

Frakk, the terror of the cats

Misleading title tbh. The cats are the ones who always play trick on the vizsla to get him in trouble. The black cat is the mastermind, the white one is a little slow and is easily manipulated. (She's my fave. Her name translates to Shy or Modest, but with a diminutive suffix to make it cute.)

Pumukli (this is German but I wanna talk about it)

This is in Roger Rabbit style. It’s about a little elf who can only be visible by those whose hearts are pure. He finds himself in Master Deer’s woodworker workshop. Pumukli likes to get into trouble, and they go through adventures together. In later episodes I think the master dies, so he lands with another person, I’m not sure….

Diving spider - Wonderspider

Diving bell spider….but it sounds rhythmic like this, just like in Hungarian. Fun fact: As a kid I shipped them before knowing that shipping existed. (Both guys btw, so I was an early ally lol)

This was a movie, but then they made it into a series later on. It’s about well….uhm. So basically a spider who makes oxygen bubbles to breath underwater, built himself a palace and is very kind to others. It’s a simple story. He befriends the land spider, who’s always grumpy and helps others.

A Nagy ho-ho-ho horgász

Idk how to translate this….The Great F-f-f- fisherman…but it’s actually a line he says in the cartoon. Like Santa: ho ho ho

About a clumsy fisherman who only fishes for sport, then releases the fish. His pal is the worm/ bait. The fish trick him all the time so he never catches any. He finds funny and clever ways to try and catch them, but he always loses in the end.

Pompom's tales

It’s my favourite cartoon! The main characters are that ball of hair called Pompom and the girl. She wears him as a hat and they help their friends like my favourite character: the big blue bird who lives for chocolate. (Chocolate Arthur) The girl’s name is Picúr (itty-bitty) and as a reoccurring ending Pompom always waits for her in front of her school until it's time for her to go home.

Mézga family

Also my favourite one and also most famous one in the country.

One day the boy (on the right) invents a radio (he’s a young genius) that can make calls to the future to the 30th century. They reach MZ/X (that’s the future-guy’s name), who’s their future relative. He has an invention that can teleport things back to the past. The father (one with glasses) asks this relative for futuristic stuff that makes life easier, but they always mess up or misuse the things, therefore getting themselves into trouble.

The ginger girl and the mom (in the purple dress) don’t know about the radio. There are a grumpy neighbour for comedy relief too. Also, there’s a spin-off series where they go around the world. There they don’t mention the future, they’re just very unlucky and clumsy.

There’s an other spin-off where the little boy travels space during nighttime and discovers weird planets . He was a fan favourite. Also the dog talks in that one.
