i love the redemption arcs but give me regulus, evan and barty who don’t get better. give me those three tearing dorcas and pandora apart when they get the marks, when each of them attend death eater meetings.

barty, who is releasing years and years of rage towards his father, lashing out and finding his own beliefs because he was never set a good example of what he should do and who he should be. he joined those closest to him. if they go down, they do it together. even when they’re gone, he does what they didn’t get the chance to because his loyalty lies with them, and voldermort by association.

A scrapped scene for a Regulus-centered fic I'm trying to write

Regulus sat in the common room, a book in one hand while he brushed Barty’s hair in his lap with the other. Evan sat next to him, sliding his hands up and down Barty’s clothed thigh, his own head leaning slightly on Regulus’ shoulder.

It wasn’t an uncommon sight to see in the Slytherin common room lately. The three of them had been close basically since they’d met, always touching each other in some way whenever they could. Holding pinkies, an arm wrapped around shoulders or a waist, linked arms - Regulus figured it was the result of their respective families making all three of them so touch starved, almost desperate for any scrap of physical affection they might get.

Regulus sighed, closing his book and tilting his head to look towards Evan, whose eyes had closed but whose hand hadn’t stopped rubbing Barty’s thigh.

“Evan?”

Evan hummed in response, pushing his head forward without actually facing Regulus. Regulus felt himself smiling at the sight, at the trust the two had given him.

“We should get to our dorm now, you know.”

Evan pressed more into Regulus at that, straining slightly to press his nose into his neck. He huffed, and Regulus shivered at the breath that ghosted down his skin.

Regulus felt Barty shift on his lap, and paused his hand, but didn’t take it out from the younger’s dark hair. He knew Evan had opened his eyes to watch Barty as he stretched out on top of the two's laps, and nestled his head deeper into Regulus' thighs.

"Just a few more minutes, Reggie? I've finally gotten comfortable on your bony ass legs." Regulus felt Evan's smirk on his shoulder and felt Evan wrap his arms around his waist. He sighed, knowing he could never help but give in when these two worked together against him.

"Fine. Only a few."

Regulus laid an arm over one of Evan's and went back to brushing Barty's hair with the other, closing his eyes.

It was more than a few minutes, but when Regulus woke up the next morning to see the two boys still in the same positions against him, he found he didn't mind the slight pain in his neck as much as he should've.
