Batfamily ages!

im trying so hard to work out batfamily ages.

so far i have damian being 15 in current continuity. he was 10 when he became robin, and i think tim was 17, so theres a 7 year age gap, same as jason and dick.

i think i remember dick saying that he was the same age as bruce when dick made damian robin, parallelling bruce and dick to dick and damian. bruce was like,,,,28? when he took in dick at 12. theres a 16 year age gap between them. if damian was 10 at robin, then dick was probably 26 years old....

(dick has to be taken in at 12 years old or none of this makes sense okay?? tim was 3 when he watched the graysons fall, and there has to be a 9 year age gap between dick and tim or everything else falls apart. dick has to be 12 for the rest of the ages to make sense. stop commenting about dick being 9 years old, he isn't in this!! and also i'm farly certain they bumped up his age again to be 12 when he watched his parents die anyway, so stop commenting that he's 9!! he's not!!)

babs i think was 16 when she became batgirl, and dick was like 13, so theres a three year age gap.

Steph is one year older than tim right? and cass is at most a year older than steph? shes described as older than jason at some point but also has been frequently thrown into the same age bracket as tim and steph but i swear is like, 6 months older than jason? god idk,,,

jason.... died when he was 15, and tim became robin at 13, so theres a 2 year age gap there. he's also 7 years younger than dick. - he got ressurected after 6 months, and was in a walking coma for a while,,, he also trained for 3 years. im gonna say ressurected after 6 months -> walking coma for another 6 months -> lazarus pit -> 3 years training -> 19 when he came back to gotham as red hood.

i have no idea what duke is doing. he's paired up with cass a lot right? is he the same age as her? Edit: after reading urban legends #18 it shows Duke in college, so hes at least the same age as tim, or older.

anyway onto the maths! [disclaimer, i had to retake maths so please be nice guys im not a genius]

if Damian is now 15, and theres a 7 year age gap between him and tim, Tim is now 22? Steph should be 23? and if theres a 2 year age gap between tim and jason, Jason is now 24. Cass is also 2 years older than tim, but shes 6 months older than jason, making her 25. (Duke is maybe 23? he's paired up with cassandra so often that i want to put them in the same-ish age bracket, but i do achknowledge he used to be younger than tim although he has apparently been aged up so im making him same age as steph instead.) Dick is 7 years older than jason, so Dick is 31?? and Barbara is 3 years older making her 34. Bruce is...47???????? that feels too young. like way too young. bruce you had so many kids at such a young age the hell have you been doing you slutty old man?

okay anyway i feel better now that i think i have some solid ages. [for when i look back at this post in several years, it is 2023, and i am ignoring every retcon of their ages that makes them younger. bc fuck that.]

reader with some baby monkeys revising her account of the journey and how she viewed it.

She's talking with Wukong about some grammar and if another wording style would fit it best.

most of the time super baby monkeys nestle amongst readers' sleeves and skirts as they can spend hours at a time unmoving. so it's a comfy spot to sleep. her lap is the best spot because she will sometimes put a pillow there that's large enough for one or two.

as for why it's in scroll format as well? she felt like it fit better for her account to be put on a scroll that would gather dust and never get opened again. forgotten in some archive.

it's her lack of confidence in her own findings and personal meanings that come into play. the reader acts confident but even with the master in history she isn't confident in her own footprint ever making a mark. which is friggen hilarious when you think of whatever thing she and wukong have going on.

reader is also immortal based on one tiny factor her name isn't in the book of death because shes not from there and doesn't exist in that world naturally so you know. that's a thing.

shes always turned down other forms of immortality though

once modern fashion becomes a thing flower fruit mountain is gonna have a resident goth immoral with punk vampire vibes and nothing can stop it from happening

idk if im the only person but i absolutely despise trying to come up with last names. first names are so fun but last names can suck my ass. anyway here's the absolutely best source for last names i have ever found (also great for first names too)

Tropes Aren't Evil

You might've heard in a creative workshop class to avoid tropes like the bubonic plague, or on Tumblr, or maybe even wattpad. Some of these tropes include, but are not limited to:

The magic portal to a different world, where instead of boring old school with homework, it's funyuns awesome m a g i c school with e n c h a n t e d homework

Enemies to lovers, because Eros has an itchy trigger finger and spent an all-nighter making more than 500 arrows for his chaotic ships

Or, the classic "I've gone all this way to kill you for revenge, but I actually don't want to do that, because it's useless/I changed my mind/I forgot who you were" trope. I actually really like this one, if it makes sense.

While it is quite important to be aware of tropes, avoiding them doesn't have to be the solution; because tropes have been present all throughout the history of literature, from Star Wars to Journey to the West.

If you're panicking because there are tropes in your story or your characters, and you don't want them to be unoriginal or boring to you or your audience, find some time to write or type out on a doc on what that trope is, and how you can play with it, roll with the punches, so to speak.

Do you want to subvert it? Make it some kind of mirror or even allegory? Do you want to go all the way?!

You don't have to re-invent the wheel when it comes to tropes. And trying to scour them from your story is especially counterproductive, because think about it...

Reader hummed as she sat with Wukong both enjoying some rice they had managed to procure for the group.

"What makes someone human, or demon outside of species" She asked suddenly as she nudged some veggies about. "Because demons aren't a thing where I am from not in the sense of species."

There was a strange silence that engulfed the group as the mulled over the question

"I have a niece and nephew both are called demons, they aren't they are human but because of how my sister raises them they are terrors" She pushed the rice about "but then there are demons here that are genuine and good. But demons as far as I know are not supposed to be good so my question is. What is the difference between them?"

"The question you are asking has no simple answer" tang answered "you are asking what makes one who they are"

"I am, that's exactly what I am asking tang. Pigsy is a lecherous pig demon, don't lie you are," She gave him a harsh look that cut him off "who tricked a woman into marriage with him, meaning you are intelligent and manipulative and cunning. He's like that greasy dude no one likes down the hall."

Flower looked into the flames of the fire watching on how they danced with no form the same as the last.

"Sandy is a water demon who ate his previous incarnations, but shows strength and an emotional understanding when it comes to day to day life. So he's an overly ambitious and aggressive guy."

"Wukong is" She looked at the monkey "a king who cares for his people, has a sadistic streak a mile wide but will defend what's his no matter the cost. Even if it puts him under a mountain"

"I am a soul given a solid form meaning while still limited by my worlds standards I am both stronger and weaker like this. I get stuck at times because of it, but does that make me any less human because of it?" She asked "I can feel my body, hear the story's my family tells me, sometimes I swear I can make my fingers twitch."

"Ao le is a horse but his only real sin is eating a horse and being a bratty teen"

"And yet dispite this if one didn't know the lack of humanity there is one would think you just had an unfortunate luck of the draw when it came to deciples. So again what makes someone human? Or demon, both are in the cycle, both try and reach their ambitions, more and more the lines blurr. So I ask what is the difference?"

The human woman asked the group pointedly setting her food down.
