what would your opinion be for someone who likes romantic situations but doesn't exactly crave them

romance has been hard for me to define recently. and while i appreciate people being romantic with me, i find it very difficult to reciprocate.

My opinion? That that’s a super rad way to be, good on you for being able to figure that out about yourself.

However, as nice and as true as that sentiment is, I assume you’re trying to ask for a label or at least some wider a-spectrum context for how your experiences fit. While I can’t pick out a label or identify what exactly you’re experiencing for you, I did some research, and here are some terms I dug up.

Again, I’m not sure which of these words will draw you in the most, but they seemed to be the closest to what was described in the ask. I’d also recommend checking out the website these are from (I’ve linked in the source code the website, plus will put it in a more obvious place in a reblog, just don’t want this post to get shadow banned), it might have something I missed that you like a lot.

Hello. I've been very confused lately (or maybe even longer but now I'm starting to face that) and I thought maybe I could find some help here. I don't identify as asexual because I sometimes feel sexual attraction and I really enjoy kissing and also some sexual acts but I don't really feel the need to receive sexual acts and it's also okay for me to not have sex and I don't know if that means I am graysexual or maybe demisexual but it somehow feels right to me and it also makes sense to me (1)

So I don’t really know what to do now or if O actually am gray-a. Do you maybe have any advice? (2)

It sounds like you are doing a great job at understanding your feelings! That’s awesome! Keep up the great work! It’s okay to be confused too. It’s natural when you are trying to figure yourself out, but you will get through it; I promise.

If you feel you can connect with a label and feel that an orientation works for you, then go for it! What matters is how you feel and how you relate to it. If you like it and it works for you and you are comfortable with, then that’s what is important. Only you have the power to decide. Go with what makes you happy, makes you comfortable, and what you feel works best for you.

It’s totally cool if you enjoy doing certain things like kissing, but you don’t feel the need to receive these things. That’s perfectly fine. There is nothing wrong with liking certain things and disliking other things. It’s totally cool to enjoy doing something, but not being a fan of receiving the action in return. People can like kissing, but not like sex. They can like both equally or prefer one over the other. And there is nothing wrong with being ace and enjoying certain things romantic or sexual. Action and behavior are different from attraction. Enjoy certain things does not take away from your orientation.

Yo are not alone either. In fact, there are some orientations that sort of describe and are similar to what you are feeling. There are sexual and romantic orientations like placiosexual/romantic and iamvanosexual/romantic that describe what you are feeling.

Placiosexual is for people who have little or no desire to receive sexual acts, but express interest in giving sexual actions.

Placioromantic is for people who have little or no desire to receive romantic acts, but has a desire or interest to give them.

Iamvanosexual is considered the opposite of placiosexual. This is where people don’t like to give sexual acts, but would much rather receive them.

Iamvanoromantic, again, is considered the opposite of placioromantic. This is where people don’t like to give romantic actions, but would much rather receive them.

As you can see, you are not alone in your feelings. There are people who like to give and then there are people who prefer to receive. It’s totally cool if you enjoy kissing and have done some sexual things, but don’t feel the need to receive sexual acts. It’s okay to like to give someone pleasure and like the feeling, but don’t like receiving the same action in return. You are not alone. Check out placio- it might be a better fit for you. Though if you feel more comfortable identifying as graysexual then you can do that as well. And if you feel the need to have an emotional connection or bond before you feel sexual attraction then demisexual can work.

Keep working on it, Anon. You are doing a great job. It does sound like you could be on the ace spectrum. Gray-a can work for you with what you described and how you feel, but I do think you should check out placio-. If an orientaiotn feels right for you, then go for it! It’s how you feel and what you are comfortable identifying as that’s important. However you identify will always be valid. Recipromantic

Recipromantic people will only feel romantic attraction to a person if the person expresses romantic attraction first. ( @recipromantic-culture-is​ Thanks for teaching me about this one!)

Aegoromantic

Aegoromantic, (previously known as Autochorisromantic) describes those who enjoy the concept of romance but do not have a desire to participate in romantic activities.

Aroflux

People who identify as aroflux may experience their romantic orientation as fluctuating between experiencing and not experiencing romantic attraction.

I.e Some times Yes Romance, sometimes No romance.

Autoromantic

Autoromantic people may elicit romantic attraction from themselves, by themselves. (I’ve been leaning towards this slightly)

Cupioromantic

Cupioromantic describes those who do not experience attraction but do desire a romantic relationship. (Another one I lean towards)

(There’s actually 3 flags (?) , but this one is used the most it seems)

Demiromantic

Demiromantic describes people who do not experience romantic attraction until they have formed a deep emotional connection with someone. (According to most definitions)

Desinoromantic

Desinoromantic people do not experience "full-on" romantic attraction, but do experience "liking" someone instead of loving them romantically. (This can be confusing, I’ll do more on this most likely)

Grayromantic

Grayromantic includes (but is not limited to) people who feel very low amounts of romantic attraction, rarely feel romantic attraction, only feel romantic attraction under specific circumstances, or are not sure if they experience romantic attraction. It is usually be considered a romantic equivalent to gray-asexuality.

Iamvanoromantic 

Iamvanoromantic is the desire to not show romantic affection to someone but you may have the desire to receive some 

Quoiromantic 

Quoiromantic is where you can’t tell whether or not you experience romantic attraction or you can’t tell what kind of attraction you are feeling.

Placioromantic 

You don’t have the desire to receive romantic affections but you do have the desire to show some
