Jason “my family doesn’t know im alive” Todd and Danny “my family doesn’t know I’m dead” Fenton going alongside each of their plans my beloved. like Danny will absolutely go head-to-head with all of Gotham to support his new best friend on all his crime lord endeavors while he drags Jason to also attend collage with him. They are roommates and there never seems to a mention of family from either side. It’s an unspoken understanding they have. They met because Crime alley as a ghost lair thrummed with so much loneliness, it was at first the perfect place for Danny to hide his ecto signature in. But then he saw the dumbass whose lair it was lean his motorcycle just a tad too much when making a sharp turn to an alley, he sweeped the floor through a lifted chain link that passed his body but not his helmet. Yep that’s right the red thing got stuck. Danny who at the moment happened to be watching through his window snorted. Much to his horror because if not a ghost that dude could’ve gotten his head flung off.
Still, the scene was ridiculous.
On a whim he irrationally sees the police closing in on the guy and panicked at the thought of the guy using intangibility to free himself so Danny phased them both through his apartment wall and left the guy sprawled in his couch. Jason didn’t freak out but that’s normal when one’s got a concussion, one the guy immediately denied having as Danny laid out the medical supplies. The idiot proceeded to almost flatten four steps to the door with his stubbornness. He also said “I’m asexual” in the most deadpan voice as Danny dropped him back in the couch.
Danny sighed. Clearly though, he’d done so too early in the night because the guy kept trying to go, kept trying to knock Danny out, kept trying to slash him with knifes Danny didn’t know he had stashed. He’d only disarmed the guy from his guns. The visible ones apparently, cause at one point the guy did take out a gun and shoot until the ammo ran out and then teetered the thing like it was an art prop and hit his moon lamp.
Danny "yeah you aren’t officially my friend until you’ve tried to kill me" fenton my guys.
Anyways both keep having the same argument over if Danny technically kidnapped Jason or not. Danny holds the fact that the police at least didn’t see the guy make the ridicule. Jason argued that happened cause he was sporting a concussion. Danny argued he got that after.
Jason at first thinks the guy's a meta, but no. Danny introduces himself, sheepily now that he recognizes this is who the lair he invaded is from. He bandages him and tries to cook for him. If Danny didn’t have ice powers he most certainly would’ve burned the apartment. Jason then proceeds to kick him out of his own kitchen and make them both enchiladas. It’s the most normal both had in a while with another person and the air seems oddly settled. From then on, Jason constantly invited himself over, under the pretense that this was his territory and therefore he could drop in unannounced. Danny who has actual powers says he only allows this because Jason cooks very well.
Danny stays away from the crime fighting business unless his buddy is in deep shit he can’t get himself out. Also it’s Danny’s turn to cover for his vigilante friend which Sam and Tucker give him so much shit for. (but also advice)
And they were roommates. (omg) Danny effectively derails Jason’s big comeback plans by casually dropping ghost lore every two days. Like,
Jason, talking about how he doesn’t want Bats snooping on his territory:
Danny: Just don’t let them in
Jason: ??
Danny: yeah!! Hasn’t Batman died and got revived??? You can totally kick out death touched people you don’t want entering on your lair.
Jason: …I can?
Danny: Yep dude, your lair’s supposed to feel safe.
Jason: wait does that mean I can kick you out?
Danny: First this is my apartment. Second, im dead, not dead touched. Third, it’s too late to get rid of me. bitch.
Anyways Jason is super excited. You mean to tell him he can actually deny people over to his territory haunt?? (Yes it’s only to people who have died and came back but still!! The sample size is exactly the type of people he doesn’t want to see—!)
Joker my beloathed can’t step foot in Crime Alley.
(Jason’d feel a lot safer if the clown was dead but the possibility of his murderer turning into a ghost and their little loophole not applying on the clown is too scary to contemplate.)
Anyways, Jason loves experimenting with the power. It can go from simply making people shudder and not want to enter crime Alley to straight up not letting them enter like there’s an invisible wall blocking the way.
Jason because he’s hurt that Bruce never even patrols Crime Alley and also because he’s petty put B under the category of “invisible wall” blacklist. His reasoning is that the man doesn’t even attempt to enter Crime Alley. To him it’s surely just a place shadowed in tragedy. (anyways that’s it’s the place he met Jason)
Ironically, Jason totally forgets that Batman does venture into Crime Alley one day in the whole year. The day he met Jason.
Okay. He didn’t forget at first. The first year Jason remembers cause it was only a few months till then but then the next— Jason forgets that today’s the anniversary of the day’s Bruce’s parents died. He forgets to allow B in when he feels a slight tug and dismiss the feeling that prompts Bruce to investigate because he literally can’t enter Crime Alley. He starts the trialsTM, he scouts on the very edge and sees people the whole day enter and get out and cross with no problem but Bruce can’t.
It’s literally just Bruce.
Time to call Constantine, i guess.

Of course they r different genres of story centered around very different characters and relationships and situations etc but i think also that just makes it funnier
#also i think what makes tws more effective (aside from there just being like. more intentional effort put into setting it up. like from#the first issue of cap vol. 5 its very clear that the point of it is to build up the circumstances necessary to reintroduce this character#into the narrative and then eventually push him center stage.)#is that its wayyyyyyyy less of a leap in logic for Bucky's character than it was for Jason. bc i mean. ofc there was the propaganda after#the fact trying to retcon jason into the angry and reckless robin. but even taking that into account#almost everything abt the red hood is an inversion of what jason was. and that is intentional and part of the drama of the story. but it#also takesmore effort to reconcile which is why we still have to make 3000000 posts analyzing and theorizing his character#Meanwhile for Bucky its like#he wasdoing winter soldier shit as a teenager during the war#died#continued obviously doing winter soldier shit as the winter soldier#got his memories back + shit#and then ran off to continue doingwinter soldier shit of his own volition against the appropriate targets#Like the conflict comes from thefact that he had no free will and thus was forced to kill indiscriminately according to his mission.#he doesnt seem to actually have much of a problem with anything he was made to do in a vacuum. which is why he keeps doing it#(im sure there was some uniquely vile shit at some pt i just havent read anything where he talks abt it yet LMAO)#and then he becomes captain america with a gun#and now as far as im aware. continues to be winter soldier. hes been doing this shit since hewas like 16 like 90 fucking years ago what els#is he supposed to do. And during all of this his personality remains roughly the same.#whereas Jason still being red hood in the very stagnant way that he has been for most of his career with no writer able to settleon what#his individual issues and problems (and fucking motivations) should be. is just goofy at this point. there was a sharp character split#established by his comeback followed by prolonged and insane deterioration of concept#also steve is not his fucking dad. steve is barely part of the equation. i mean its still gradually revealed to torment him like jason#tormented bruce but bucky had nothing to do with that nor does he have any qualms abt anything steve did#before or after he died Lmfao#ALSO just the in universe explanation for why the character is alive and were the fuck they have been is like 100% more grounded#and intelligible for bucky than jason opdif8ysg8ehspogp it actually makes me cry#UHHHHH superboy primePUNCHED THE TIMELINE so jason woke up and then clawed himself out of his coffin and then walkd around until he got hit#by a car ad ten eh wasin a coma and then the al ghulskjsfksd mjfisoeio9u0se09430[5-43[64] ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#judd winnick fighting for his life to explain that shit for no reason

Dead on Main time travel with a mom Danny twist.
Jason calls in a favor from someone on the justice league dark team for help with a case that got magical. the person sends him Danny. it goes well. they're both working very professionally. something happens and they end up back in time in their younger bodies.
Both of them are in the same city that they were working the case on. They are far away from home but Jason is 15 a few months before he finds out about his bio mom and Danny at this time is incubating Dan and Ellie's cores.
Neither of them quite realize the repercussions of what's Happening. The two of them team up to try and get back home. What the two of them don't realize is Danny's friends and family have no idea where he is though they are less worried than the bat family who fully believe Jason is kidnapped.
The two of them go on adventure trying to dodge any local heroes or villains. Eventually the two of them are able to get into contact with Clockwork and Clockwork tells them that they have altered this timeline too much for them to go back.
The two of them angst about that until they have to get forced out of that because they run into a local hero. I want to say one of the Titans that work with Nightwing because then they recognize Jason but have no reason to know that he's missing.
the two of them then realize that because they're in their younger bodies everyone has no idea where they are. This is when Danny realizes that at that age he is incubating Dan and Ellie which makes him try to split off from Jason.
As Danny's trying to figure out a way to tell Jason what's going on Jason realizes that Danny is getting really sick or at least he thinks is really sick. He's getting tired more easily than before and keeps throwing up. Jason originally thought it was due to stress of the situation but it becomes more and more clear that it is not. They end up having a confrontation which leads to Danny telling him that they are basically pregnant.
Jason tells Danny that they are not leaving them, especially not after everything that happened. The two of them decide together where to go. The two of them end up deciding the only places that they can go are Amity park or Gotham because of the ambient ectoplasm.
They can go to Amity Park except last time Danny was there it was a bad Fenton parents reveal which led to both Dan and Ellie dead with jazz wheelchair bound as well as Sam and Tucker in comas.
Or
they could go to Gotham except Jason is probably presumed missing. Having Wayne and bat family connection is probably best for them except for Jason having a falling out in the last timeline as well as knowing that he is supposed to be dead in a few weeks. Jason knows that his death is a major turning point for his family as well as many other things in the timeline.

Tim Drake, Son of Green Arrow: A Wild What-If Timeline
Okay, picture this: Tim Drake ends up being adopted by Oliver Queen. Wild, right? But hear me out.
It all starts with Janet Drake. Back in her boarding school days, she was close friends with Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen. As adults, they drifted, but she always trusted them. So, when drawing up a will with Jack, she names Oliver as Tim’s guardian if anything ever happens to them. Why Oliver? He’s got a stable family life with Dinah, and Bruce is still just “Brucie” at this point, with no Dick Grayson or Robin yet in the picture.
Fast forward. Tim’s parents die in a tragic accident, leaving him alone… until Oliver Queen steps in. Tim gets whisked away to Star City, where he finds himself in a home that actually feels like a family. Oliver, Dinah, and Roy include him in their lives in a way his biological parents never did. They’re attentive, warm, and actually there.
Tim’s obsessive interest in Gotham and the Bat still exists, though. Even as he helps the Queens behind the scenes (because, of course, Tim figures out their identities), he keeps an eye on Gotham and Robin. When Jason Todd dies, Tim immediately notices the shift in Batman. He sees how broken Bruce becomes and, unable to ignore it, brings it up to Oliver.
Oliver listens. He pulls some Justice League strings, and they all step in to help Bruce. But even with the intervention, Tim can see Batman isn’t the same. Batman needs Robin.
Tim, being Tim, takes matters into his own hands. He sneaks back to Gotham, tracks down Bruce, and demands to be Robin. Bruce, skeptical but too tired to argue, lets him. Tim starts living a double life—splitting his time between Gotham as Robin and Star City with the Queens, who have no idea what he’s up to. Bruce assumes Tim’s guardian is some guy named Eddie (a lie Tim pulled out of thin air), and Tim’s balancing this precarious act of being a superhero under two noses.
Then comes the reveal.
After the Tower incident, when Jason comes back and beats Tim bloody, Tim limps home to Star City, where he can’t hide the injuries anymore. Oliver and Dinah are horrified. They demand answers, and Tim finally confesses everything. Dinah is livid, Oliver is fuming, and Roy is caught somewhere between “I’m proud of you” and “I want to wring your neck.” Oliver decides he’s going to have a chat with Bruce about endangering his son.
But Tim? He begs them to let him stay as Robin. He swears he’ll stop as soon as someone else steps in, but Gotham needs Robin. Reluctantly, the Queens agree, but now they’re involved. The next time Bruce and Tim are working a case, Oliver is in the Batcave, glaring daggers at Bruce while Dinah insists on debriefing Tim like he’s an adult.
And oh, the dynamics.
Tim is fiercely loyal to both his families. He adores the Queens—they’re the parents he always wanted—but the Bats become like a second family to him. Jason, after getting over the guilt and anger, starts treating Tim like a brother. Meanwhile, Roy and Jason develop this weird rivalry over who’s Tim’s actual favorite sibling.
Roy: “I taught Tim how to shoot a bow. Can you even use a bow?” Jason: “I’m sorry, does the term ‘second Robin’ mean nothing to you? He’s literally following in my footsteps.” Tim: “I like both of you equally!” Tim, internally: It’s definitely Roy.
Bruce? Bruce gets jealous. He watches Tim laugh freely with Oliver or cling to him at the Watchtower, and there’s this pang of something he doesn’t want to admit. Bruce cares about Tim, but Tim’s already got a dad in Oliver, and it shows.
But at the end of the day, both families fiercely love Tim. Whether he’s in Gotham or Star City, he’s surrounded by people who’d do anything for him. And Tim? Tim wouldn’t trade either family for the world.
#tim drake#batfam#oliver queen#bruce wayne#jason todd#roy harper#when damian comes around tim steps down as robin and starts working in star city more than gotham after he establishes his new identity#the bats are in shambles#roy harper is tims favorite brother but he doesn't tell anyone#I don't think his red robin run would happen in this universe bcs he actually has people that would listen to him and believe him

Jason Todd’s “Replacement” nickname for Tim Drake, Origins and Popularisation
So, making a 2500-word essay on how a fanon nickname that only me and like two other people care about is not how I expected to spend my time in between exams.
A lot of Batfam fans are very, very much aware of the fanon “Replacement” nickname Jason has for Tim, and a lot of us very, very much hate it due to the connotations of fanon characterisation that it has. I don’t personally, I think it’s an alright enough one that fits into the established canon ones – but to be fair, I haven’t read the comics in a hot minute, so my memory could be screwy.
I got curious one day on where the nickname came from when a user on TikTok mentioned that it might’ve originated from a Batfam incest fic (They weren’t too sure and told me to take it with a grain of salt) – so shout out to them for starting me down this rabbit hole! I looked over on here and saw that notion repeated, though no one could pinpoint me to a specific fic beyond “It was popularised from a Batfam incest fic.”. I also saw a few people say that it was derived from canon, which piqued my interest further so I decided to go down a rabbit hole of fandom history purely for some fun.
The aim of this essay is just to clear up some misconceptions around the origin of the name, all fun and no harm. Don’t send harassment to people referenced in this either over a silly nickname, it's been well over a decade since they wrote the works used here.
Preface
Alright, first things first – all sources are going to be ones that were published after August 2005, the official date the first issue of Batman: Under the Red Hood was published, where Jason was established to be alive again.
While there could be a chance that the nickname was derived from a website/fanfiction before 2005, it’s highly unlikely due to the fact it was only popularised in the early 2010’s, and well, because Jason was dead and no one gave a shit about him. Also good to remember that most websites that ran before 2005 are defunct and purged from the internet now, particularly fanfiction websites (such as Quidzillia) due to various issues (taboo, copyright, costs to run ect).
Small note to make again – the Batfam fandom was fairly small at the time, the more fandom-y part of the DC community usually sticking to their own websites like Quotev, Quidzilla (again, defunct now), AO3, Fanfiction.net, LiveJournal and independent websites (again, defunct) while the rest stuck to discussion sites, so the entire fandom functioned more as a insular community from what I could tell. I will be working with the assumption that the nickname was created on one of the larger platforms, as any other platform didn’t have large enough influence to popularise the nickname.
The nicknames that I specifically looked for was simply Jason calling Tim Replacement in place of his actual name. Something like “Replacement Robin” was on very thin ice, but still counted as an offshoot. Anything else was off bets.
This whole thing will be split into a few sections to make some things for myself easier. Preface, Sources, Pre-cursor Fanfiction, Fandom Opinion and Language, First usage, Popularisation, Conclusion, Questions, Final Notes.
Sources
Fanfic.net – Created 1998, was and remains one of the larger fanfiction sites. Note; Fanfiction.net had various periods of time where there were large scale purges of fanfictions that held more mature content. Most notable instances were in 2002 and 2012.
Archive Of Our Own – The holy grail for my research. Created in 2008. For the information I got from there I used the search filter Date Updated, tagged Jason’s and Tim’s individual tags and followed from there.
Live Journal – Created 1999 and was used as one of the larger sites for fandom and fanfiction. Was used by DC fandom goers regularly so I used it to get an idea of the fandom at the time.
Tumblr – Created 2007. Theres various people on here who have compilations on DC timelines and comic sourcing that helped me correlate fandom growth with specific comic releases (Shout out to @ectonurites for their meta posts and timeline posts, they were a major source for this!). Dogshit filtering system, so I couldn’t find posts pre 2012 about DC.
Note; Quotev and Wattpad weren’t used in this as their filtering systems don’t account for searching for older fanfictions, so sadly had to be discarded as most fanfictions between 2006-2010 on those websites are now very difficult to find.
Pre-Cursor FanFiction
So, before we get to the actual first proper use I could find of “Replacement”, I first want to mention a fanfiction that had something very similar that I think would be important purely for archiving reasons around how the nickname came to be. And also because it fits the nickname criteria I mentioned earlier.
Published on the 29th of November 2006, last updated on the 28th of November 2007, was the fanfiction My-Enemy-My-Brother on Fanfiction.net by user theunknownvoice – featuring the first use of Jason referring to Tim with a nickname including replacement, Replacement Robin. Kudos to theunknownvoice, they created the very first nickname that would kickstart the rest.

While Jason doesn’t explicitly refer to Tim as Replacement – the main subject of this essay, it comes very damn close, so I wanted to include it. There is a part where Jason repeats replacement in his head multiple times, and I think he’s supposed to be referring to Tim, but the sentence isn’t very clear on that part, so I won’t count it, but it is important to acknowledge.

Though this isn’t the fanfiction that influenced the development of Replacement. This fic had barely enough reach to influence any future works years later. I couldn’t find any connection with this work and later works that officially did just have Jason call Tim “Replacement”
Fandom Opinion and Language at the time
I promise this is important and that I’m not a pretentious linguistic, English isn’t even my first language.
I like to think we all know how fandom discussion just seeps into fanfiction (See; the nickname green bean for Deku from MHA leaking into fanfiction) so I just want to quickly point this out.
Discussion around the two blew up after Jasons return in late 2005, people going “What does this mean” and “What does that mean for Tim”. Through the few posts I could dig up from this time and up to 2011, it seems people came to the conclusion that Tim was Jason’s replacement, and that their dynamic was Jason dealing with the fact that he had one. You can definitely see that in some of the posts and fanfiction written at the time that usually had Jason dealing with Tim being his replacement.

(Just a few examples from LiveJournal but more like this are still floating around, if they aren’t deleted anyway)
It’s very likely that the authors themselves engaged in similar discussions/had independent thoughts that ended in the same conclusions, seeping into the fanfiction itself later. In the comics pre-New 52 I couldn’t find any major instance of Jason explicitly referring to Tim as his replacement (only implied through speech), so this was mostly contained in fandom discussions from what I can tell. (Note, this was probably similar on comic discussion websites, but I couldn’t find any that still exist pre-2007, so I’m going to assume literacy skills are not any better on those sites. See; Batman dick riders)
The fact that Tim is explicitly described as having replaced Jason, and sometimes as “Being the Replacement” on posts/fanfiction definitely had a hand in the creation and popularisation of the nickname, influencing the fan content made around the two.
First usage of Replacement
Cain! Cain! Is the first use of the nickname Replacement really from a Batfam incest fanfiction?
Nope, thank God.
After filtering their character tags together on AO3, going to the oldest page and clicking through over 10 pages, reading every single fanfiction on each one (yes, even the weird ones, I was dedicated) I found the first instance where Jason explicitly refers to Tim as Replacement, that still exists today anyway.
Published on the 24th of January, 2009 by user shiny_glor_chan, is the fanfiction Four Calling Birds, a fanfiction detailing Stephenie Brown returning from faking her death (a whole headache from the comics that I can't be arsed to explain) and getting to meet Jason and Dick for the first time. Genuinely sweet, and a corner stone of fandom history, officially. Hip hip Hooray! Congratulations shiny_glor_chan.

I tried tracing to see if this person had any other accounts that I could find to see where they got the nickname from, but it seems it’s mostly a nickname they thought up out of the fact that they had consistently wrote Jason explicitly stating that Tim was his replacement
And reading through several more pages of fanfiction again, feeling like I want to bleach my eyes out, I found the second instance of the nickname being used. Published on the 26th of May, 2010 by user axiel-neesan, is the fanfiction The Only Piece You Get, where Jason basically acts as Tim’s cabbie and bonds with him. Another corner stone of fandom history, hooray.

These two authors are completely unrelated and have no connections to each other besides both frequenting LiveJournal, having taken prompts and having friends from that website, despite having no accounts I could find. I personally think they had a similar train of thought of “Huh, that would be a sick ass nickname.”. Chances are that axiel-neesan saw shiny_glor_chans fic and got inspired as the fandom was dead small on AO3 at the time – around 20 pages worth of fanfiction from 2008-2010 (And thats being generous if we’re counting now deleted ones)
These two fanfictions are immensely important because it’s the only early instances I could find of the nickname being used, and for about two years after the nickname pops up occasionally – but by no means was it popular, or even regularly used, I had to look for the fanfictions that used it.
Props to shiny_glor_chan and axiel-neesan! I pray that you two don’t see what the fandom thinks of that nickname now.
Popularisation
Early 2012 saw the proper explosion of fandom for the Batfam, and by extension the nickname.
By this point there were so many fanfictions that I couldn’t read them all, so I started picking random ones that tagged Jason and Tims relationship, platonic or not. Pre-April-ish of 2012 the nickname popped up every other page or so, but sometime after mid-2012 the nickname was in almost every fanfiction that I skimmed through – so that’s its official growth period.
Why though? Several factors probably.
The New-52 was in full swing by this time, DC massively promoting the reboot to get new fans interested, so people picked up comics from there. Young Justice – the more mainstream exposure of DC to surface level fans aired its second season in April of 2012, introducing people to Tim Drake and his story and getting them interested. Fanfiction and fandom as a whole was becoming less taboo and more accepted in fan spaces, so encouragement to write it was much better than it was in the early years of the internet (Example; Teen Wolf’s production team)
As for a specific catalyst for the growth of popularity for the nickname? There might be something worth pointing to.
Kudos for @ectonurites for helping me on this (Hi Sam! I was anon!) and giving me a publishing date on Tim’s and Jason’s first New 52 interaction – Red Hood and the Outlaws #8, published on the 18th of April, 2012. It features an instance of Jason and Tim interacting in a very friendly and familial way, Jason explicitly calling Bruce their Dad. Compared to their last major previous interaction of Jason leaving Tim for dead, fans of the two who enjoyed the more familial potential (and tragically, romantic potential) took it and ran with it.

All of these combined in some way to contribute to the popularity of the nickname in mid to late 2012, and lead to it’s infamy in DC fanfiction.
Conclusion
In conclusion, how do I think the nickname came to be?
I think it’s a combination of factors that led to it’s creation. As already established people very much did see Tim as Jasons replacement at the time, and the language could have shortened down from “Tim replaced Jason” to “Tim is Jason’s replacement” to “Tim is the replacement” which I think could be the train of thought the 2006 author went down to create the nickname Replacement Robin.
This definitely influenced the AO3 writers as shiny_glor_chan was present on LiveJournal at the time (where this language was very prominent), so they were already down the line of thinking this and probably went “Huh, replacement is kinda a funny nickname” and added it. As already stated, I think axiel-neesan probably had a very similar train of thought or may have seen shiny_glor_chan’s fic and was inspired.
And from there people saw it, used it in their own works, getting leaked over onto LiveJournal, which was the main website for prompt sharing, getting used a decent amount there before the explosion of fandom in mid-2012 that lead to it’s regular usage in fan works.
Questions
So, is the nickname from a Batcest fic?
Nope! The nickname mostly makes an appearance in platonic fics between Jason and Tim, it’s actually a chore to find it in their romantic ones, as in I think I found one instance of it being used somewhere in late 2010 but I can't think of it in a fanfiction that predates that. All early uses of the nickname were in platonic fics between the two.
I think this rumour is based around three fanfictions specifically on Ao3 that people are pointing to, I think, no one seems to be wanting to name names. They’re the ones that pop up when you search Replacement in the word search after tagging Tim Drake and Jason Todd together.
Wings to Fly. Published October of 2012. Jason Refers to Tim as Replacement. Jason/Tim
Replacement. Published 2009. The title implies it’s referring to Tim, but Jason never explicitly nicknames Tim replacement, the narrator only calling Tim “His replacement”, him being Jason. Jason/Tim. Non-con
The Replacement. Published 2011. Can't figure out if the title is supposed to refer to Tim or is simply just titled that for the sake of it. Jason talks a few times about Tim being his replacement, but the nickname never makes an appearance. Jason/Tim
Does the nickname have any bases in Canon?
From what I can tell, no. I haven’t read all the Batfamily comics Pre-New 52, or from after Batman: Under The Red Hood, I mostly stray towards Hal Jordans comics lol. I don’t think theres any major instance where Jason talks about Tim replacing him by specifically using replacement or replacing (It can be inferred from his speech sometimes, but Jason’s relationship with Tim was much more complex than that. I’d recommend reading @ectonurites metas about the two to get a better idea) Theres a few instances in 2015 post-New 52 reboot where Jason says explicitly that Tim replaced him, but that was way after the nickname was popularised.

Red Hood and Arsenal #7 (2015)
Final Notes
That’s about it! That’s the result of my month long dive into almost twenty years worth of DC fandom history as a fun side project. Feel free to ask me anything else about this or any other DC fandom history and I’ll try to research it!! This was genuinely a fun thing to do to pass the time and work out my research muscles.

I absolutely love your older brother Danyal Who left to protect Damian story, can you add on to it because I wanna know how he would interact with the family and maybe he knew Jason when he was in the league before he left or He would turn invisible and spy on the batfam to check up on Damian from time to time so he knows things about them
i've actually thought about Jason knowing about Danny in the League before! I made a little meme about it in one of my meme dump posts! Ultimately it's non-canon to the au and would have to be part of an offshoot branch or a variant of the au due to continuity reasons.
Meaning that if Jason knew about Danyal, I don't think Damian would have been able to keep his existence (and "death") a secret for long. Or at least long enough for it to be revealed that he was alive. Jason would have asked about Danny at some point, maybe even right away upon re-entering the family and seeing Damian there, depending on the context. I can see him asking whether in front of everyone and in private too, depending on that context as well.
Ooooo and! I just remembered this, but there's no guarantee that Danny and Jason would have even met while Jason was in the league too -- some depictions I've seen of this au have Jason around while Damian is still a baby, or as a young kid. The timelines are notoriously wonky. -- and Danyal "died" when Damian was five. Depending on the ages, the timeline, and all that jazz, Jason could have very well entered the League when Damian was five sometime after Danyal's death.
Or he could've been there to see Danyal, meet him, and eventually become close enough to him to figure out that Danyal deeply adored his little brother and everything he did was ultimately meant to be for his benefit -- in a twisted up way. Hey, we could even go a step further and say he was there the night Danny got his facial scar. It really would all depend.
But that would require me sitting down and recharting the timeline in order to fit that in without any significant plot holes; like deciding ages, how long Jason's with the League before splitting (ultimately he spent five years away from Gotham before returning. How many of those years am I willing to keep him in the au?), when he was there, etc.
Something I am simply not interested nor have the energy to do for this au this far in ashdgf. So for the sake of my own sanity and the continuity of the main au: Jason did not know nor know about Danyal in the League.
However its still a fun idea to think about! So some things I've thought about if Jason did know Danyal in the league:
- For the hispanic jason truthers: Jason sometimes called him diablito; 'little devil' since the whole 'grandson of the demon head' thing.
- Danyal had a habit of sitting right outside Damian's room at night to listen for intruders, something he's done since Damian was a baby after the initial attack that resulted in his scar. Jason would sometimes sit with him if he found him like that.
- If Jason was present -- both physically and mentally -- for the day Damian was born, he saw firsthand the way Danny was so happy to meet him. The light shining in Danyal's eyes as baby Damian latched onto his fingers is not something he could ever forget.
- This means he was also there the day Danyal got his scar a few days later. Bursting into the nursery with Talia and seeing Danny hovered in front of the crib, almost drenched in blood with his face split open, is not something he'll forget either.
- (fun fact, did you know that head injuries bleed the most even if it's a shallow cut? Danny's scar, which in order to still be prominent at 15, would be from his hairline to his jaw, would've been bleeding profusely. And scars shrink with age! This is not only because of healing, but because your body grows except the scar doesn't. This i know from personal experience -- i have a scar on my knee from 2nd grade that used to stretch horizontally from kneecap to kneecap and needed two large bandaids to cover. But now is barely any longer than the first joint of my pinkie. It has not faded.)
- Nor will he forget the thousand yard stare in Danny's little blue eyes as he looked up at Talia and, in a little voice, said; "They were gonna hurt Damian, momma."
- He and Talia both tried convincing Danny to use the lazarus pits to heal his face without a scar, Danny refused and kept refusing. It was proof he'd protected his brother and he wouldn't accept any of their reasoning. It hasn't impaired his sight or ability.
- Jason held his hand while the cut got stitched up. Danyal didn't cry once. He stared at the wall over the doctor's shoulder, and the only indication that Jason knew he was in pain was when his grip tightened in his hand.
- Jason left shortly after Damian turned three, so he was somewhat aware that Danny was going to begin distancing himself from Damian. Damian's memories of him in the League are fuzzy at best.
- When Damian joined the family and Jason was hanging around/reconciled with them, he asked Damian in the cave about Danyal. He said; "By the way, where's Danyal? I'm surprised he's not hovering by your side."
- He did not like the way Damian tensed up and refused to meet his eyes. When Damian finally revealed that Danyal was dead, he refused to believe it, and continued to refuse to believe it long afterward. Danyal? Gone? The little eldest demon was dead? That sounded completely unlike him. That boy was too stubborn and loved Damian too much to stay buried.
- They got into an argument about it right there in the cave. Jason thought Damian was lying to him, and Damian was not appreciating how much Jason cared nor him saying Damian was a liar.
- Jason has a few photos of him and Danyal and Damian in the league. All of them happened when Damian was too young to remember them. He has one or two photos of Danyal before he got his scar. He eventually shares these with Damian.
- I did have one idea where he found Danny in Amity Park once and had to be threatened by Danyal to not tell anyone.
okay that's all i've got for now. Onto the others!
"[or] would [he] turn invisible and spy on the batfam to check up on Damian from time to time so he knows things about them"
He wouldn't do this actually! Danyal is essentially in something like deep cover right now, and his whole reason for leaving the League is the belief that him being near Damian or the two of them being together is dangerous to Damian. That they will eventually be pitted against each other, and Danyal refuses to harm his brother in any sort of capacity.
The very last thing he would do is try and do anything that would indicate that he was alive -- including going invisible and flying over to Gotham to see Damian. The Waynes would figure out eventually that they were being spied on. They have experience with the paranormal and the weird due to Gotham shenanigans and basic hero craziness. They have incredible reflexes and intuition, you know how people can feel it when they're being stared at? That. That would happen, and when they can't shake the feeling of being watched, they'd get paranoid and seek out the cause of the feeling.
In some issues, afaik, Wayne Manor has protections against magical creatures. That place is more secure than Fort Knox; Danyal would not be able to get in or near it without triggering some sort of alarm.
And so, Danyal would do the opposite, and in fact would avoid Gotham like the plague -- in order to stay away from Damian, he has to stay away from Damia. And he'd probably avoid some of the cities where he knows his father's affiliates and allies lay, just to be safe. This is relatively easy to do since he's 15 and not leaving Amity Park any time soon.
If, for any reason, his foster family or school (for the 'visiting gotham' trope) made a plan to visit Gotham, Danyal would find a way to get out of it, by any means necessary.
It's just not a risk he's willing to take, and the 'deep cover' thing is something I mentioned in my Ellie and Damian Meeting oneshot (its in a reblog of my "danny and dani meeting" post). The only reason Damian hasn't immediately flown out to Danyal is because of two main reasons:
he has no idea where he is
Bruce forbade it for the time being because it could spook Danny off.
If Danny found out that Damian knew he was alive, knew where he was, and was going to come see him, there's no guarantee that Danny will just... stay. There's no guarantee that Danyal won't freak the fuck out and disappear off the radar, and then they'll be back to square one. Finding and meeting Danyal requires patience and proper planning, they can't dive headfirst into this.
Besides! Danny keeps tabs on Damian and his father (and eventually by extension his siblings) through news reports and articles about them! Sure not all of them are truthful, but the things reporting their actions, whereabouts, etc, he keeps and prints out and puts in a little shoebox/scrapbook in his room!
The folder on his father is huge because he started it a few months into moving in with the Fentons and it spans back decades. and Damian's is currently the smallest since he just recently appeared in public eye. Most of it is things like, Wayne Inc announcements for charities, galas, etc. Not tabloids or gossip. Positive publicity stuff.
He keeps them under his bed, and he pulls out his father's scrapbook to tell him about patrol whenever he comes back and needs to stitch himself up. It lets him pretend that he's actually telling his father about what he's done.
As for Danny interacting with the fam -- it'd be awkward but non-hostile! Danny's... not sure how to act with them, he'd be not unlike a skittish stray cat that you're trying to befriend who keeps running away. He only knows them from what he's parsed out from news articles written about them -- both civilian and hero -- and anything Talia's told him.
There's for sure a resemblance between him and Damian in more than just looks -- they both hold this sort of powerful or confident air around them that seems exclusive to the Al Ghul family -- and there's of course that pride in their abilities. They have similar speech patterns -- although Danny's more relaxed due to Sam and Tucker's influence. And they both share an intense care for animals and the environment that's also pretty standard for the Al Ghul family.
Overall though he's just... rather quiet. Snarky and witty, but quiet. Unsure and seemingly analyzing them, trying to figure them out. He's quietest around Bruce -- not because he's afraid of him or anything, but he's overwhelmed by him. He's wanted to meet Bruce since he was a child, and now he is and he doesn't know what to do. It's a strange feeling to have.
You can find him sitting in the same room Bruce is in and find him just, watching him. Watching him from various, obscure places. He seems content to just exist in his presence, and confused when Bruce speaks to him -- like he's not totally comprehended the fact that he's actually there in front of him.
Damian and Danny have perhaps the most awkward interactions with each other out of everyone -- they have old issues they need to sort out like Danny purposely distancing himself from Damian, and intentionally orchestrating their past interactions to result in Damian hating him, and Damian needs to figure out who his brother really is beyond what he led Damian into thinking.
There's a lot of one-sided yelling matches where Damian airs out his grievances at Danny, and Danny sits there silently and lets him. Danny apologizes to him for treating him so coldly in the past, that if there's anything he could go back and redo, it would be that. That he doesn't expect forgiveness from Damian, but he wants him to know Danyal's sincerity. He tells him that if he wanted, Danny could return to Amity Park and he won't bother Damian or his family again. Al Ghuls don't cry, but i think Danyal does when he apologizes to Damian.

Fic Fairy Friday Theme: Bruce Wayne and his Emotional Support Robin

I'm so sorry I'm a few days late with this one! I've been so freaking sick that I basically slept through this weekend. Hope these lovely recs and playlists help make it up to you!
The relationship between Tim and Bruce, like all of Bruce's relationships with his kids, is complicated. Tim entered Bruce's life because he was falling apart at the seams and needed someone to hold him together. The problem is that Bruce resented Tim for it, at first, and even after Tim became a real part of the family the consequences of a child being the pillar holding the entire family together continued to be felt. These fics are exploring all the different sides to Bruce and Tim's father-son relationship, both healthy and problematic. I have a particular fondness for fics where Bruce looks back and realizes just how much damage he did to Tim in the beginning and tries to make it right now, years later. I read a LOT of fics involving these two so consider this part 1!
The Fic Fairy Friday Masterpost
we're all ghosts by envysparkler
Summary:
Tim is woken up by Bruce Wayne's screams.
Momo's Notes: An AU at the start of Tim's Robin career. He's staying over at Wayne Manor for the night when he hears blood curdling screams coming from Bruce's room down the hall. I won't spoil what's awaiting him inside that room, I love this one. It really showcases just how Tim is holding Bruce, Alfred, and Dick together during this time period.
Just How Long I’ll Love You by SilverSkiesAtMidnight
Summary:
There’s a crime scene board set up off to one side. Bruce wanders over to examine it while Batman goes about preparing the tests he’ll want to complete to make sure Bruce isn’t going to tear the fabric of spacetime apart. He vaguely remembers this case. It was already a cold case even by the time Dick arrived, a murder whose trails had gone nowhere. It was one of the files he’d dusted off and given to Tim to practice his skills. He hums approvingly as he studies the board. Tim’s getting close - once he finds the witness Bruce had overlooked the first time, he’ll have the lead he needs to crack the case. Then he frowns, touching one of the photos of the building. It’s not one of the original crime scene photos, nor one of the ones Bruce himself had taken when the crime was fresh. Tim must have gone himself to take them after Bruce gave him the case. Pride sparks in his chest, twisted with shame. “Have you looked at this?” he asks, raising his voice enough for his younger self to hear him over by the monitors. Batman grunts, glancing over and then away again. “It’s a cold case,” he says. “Robin’s been working on it.” “I know that,” Bruce responds. “Have you looked at it?”
Momo's Notes: Time travel/AU fic where Bruce is sent back in time to just after Jason's death, splitting off a new timeline as a result. He sees how broken his past self is and is horrified at how he treated Tim.
New Traditions by Kgraces
Summary:
Bruce revives an old family tradition, but not everyone is in the loop.
Momo's Notes: I have a few fics like this I'll be reccing, where Bruce is in a healthier mind space and trying to be a good dad to Damian ends up making him realize just how badly he failed Tim so he tries to make it right and be the father Tim deserves.
with the exception of… by DSS1101
Summary:
Once upon a time, Tim Drake was Robin. And he was 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥. But he wasn't chosen. And that's fine, okay? It was a delicate situation, he understood that then and he understands it now. He doesn't hold it against Bruce, or Dick, or anyone after him who benefited from the Batman that he fixed. It's just, he hadn't realized how many things he lost out on while fixing Batman. The ice cream just seems to be the final straw
Momo's Notes: This fic is similar to the one just above where the rest of the family have it pointed out just how different Tim's childhood with Bruce was compared to the rest of the kids both before and after Tim. Bonus points for showing the family BEING a family at the beginning. Bruce is TRYING to be better and the others are trying to make the family thing work but it's a work in progress with a lot of road bumps on the way.
"Thanks, Dad." by sElkieNight60
Summary:
Sure, it’s embarrassing to call your teacher ‘Dad,’ but for better or worse, Bruce is both more and less than just a mentor. OR, Tim accidentally calls Bruce 'Dad' and they both deal with the revelations and fallout that comes with.
Momo's Notes: Tim accidentally calls Bruce "dad" and then immediately panics. Bruce deals with the regret and damage from his miserably failed attempts to keep Tim at arms length years ago.
Asimov’s Integral by sElkieNight60
Summary:
Tim is an unwanted android, a Robo-Child. After being sent back by his parents, his last and only hope rests in the hands of a man still grieving the loss of his own son. “I didn’t ask for a replacement,” Bruce barked. “I don’t want a replacement! You can go back and tell the RCO I don’t need a replacement.” Bruce Wayne didn’t want him. If Bruce Wayne didn’t want him, he’d be sent back and dismantled.
Momo's Notes: An AU where the Robins are all robot children companions. Everyone knows Bruce Wayne's robochild was destroyed but his attempts to get proprietary replacement parts for the second hand robot kid he picked up off the street scandalizes the company who makes them. Tim was rejected by his first owners, the Drakes, but was given a rare second chance when he's chosen as Jason's replacement by the company. Bruce Wayne's immediate rejection means the company will melt him down for scrap for clearly being defective unless he can convince Mr. Wayne he can be useful in rebuilding Jason.
Some Day's End by SilverSkiesAtMidnight
Summary:
Bruce circles him. He’s barely broken a sweat, highly conscious of the lack of ache in his own muscles. “You need to improve your stamina,” he growls. “This isn’t good enough.” His tone is cruel, biting. Tim should lash out at it. He should snap back that he’s trying, that he’s doing his best, that he is improving. Instead, he just nods, adjusting his stance. He swallows, throat audibly clicking with dehydration. “Again,” he croaks out. “Let’s do it again. I’ll get it this time.” And Bruce should refuse. He should insist he take a break, should send him to go get something to drink, should tell him they’re done for the night so he won’t be too sore to train again tomorrow. Instead, he matches his stance.
Momo's Notes: Bruce realizes just what kind of monster he's becoming when accidentally breaks Tim's arm during training.
I Want It Real by Dickered (Sagemistakes)
Summary:
Tim gets hurt. A lot. He's pretty okay with that, most of the time.
Momo's Notes: Tim believes his pain is worth it to keep the family secret safe. Bruce vehemently disagrees. Sometimes you just need a dose of actual good dad Bruce comforting his kid.
What is Earned and What is Given by Cdelphiki
Summary:
The arrival of Damian was quite the shock for Bruce. But that wasn't the only shock of the day. When Tim declared Damian should 'earn' Bruce's love, like 'everyone else,' Bruce realized he had a lot more work ahead of him than he originally thought. Or: Bruce makes sure Tim knows he's loved.
Momo's Notes: More of Bruce realizing he's made serious errors as a father and moving to correct them immediately like a good dad should.
Pretender by galaxy_magitech
Summary:
When Bruce gets hit by fear toxin, he mistakes Tim for Jason. Tim realizes that if he practices his Jason impression, he can calm Bruce down and maybe get some scraps of the affection he so desperately needs. Win-win solution. Years later, Bruce finds out.
Momo's Notes: I do love it when Bruce's fucked up post-Jason period and how he treated Tim is confronted by Jason (or any other batkid). The added angst of Tim being consistently mistaken for Jason just makes extra delicious!
NA NA NA NA Batdad! by nightwalker
Summary:
The irony of Batman having that coffee mug was amusing. The thought of Brucie Himbo Trainwreck Wayne owning it was hysterical. Ollie took a quick swallow of coffee to push back a laugh. “I like the coffee mug. A friend of mine has the same one.”
Momo's Notes: No angst on this one, I figured we needed a couple palette cleansers of Bruce just being an openly loving father with Timmy. Poor boy deserves it!
Clockwork by heartslogos
Summary:
“Do you even hear yourself when you talk?” Tim wrinkles his nose. “Also stop trying to hide the coffee. I’ll always find it. You just put it out of reach or opposite the peanut butter. I am on to you.”
Momo's Notes: No angst on this one either, just showing the loving familial relationship and synergy Tim and Bruce have built up between them.
Playlists!

I have been obsessed with the idea of Paris coming to the modern day in the same way Midas, Lityerses, and Medea did. Like, If anybody had some unfinished business, it's every citizen of Troy. Anyway here are some different little scenarios I've cooked up about how this silly little war criminal fared after making a mad dash for the doors of death in HoO.
Ok, so in this scenario, Paris is recruited by Gaea just like all the other spirits who come back from the dead. He ends up being tasked with working alongside Octavian. At first, he's driven only by grief and anger at the loss of his own family and city. As they approach Camp Half-Blood, Paris regularly remarks on how happy he is that's he'll be the one storming the walls this time. But over time, he slowly finds himself growing worried about Octavian's sanity. He tries to steer Octavian away from making reckless decisions, but Octavian refuses to back down. Paris sees the deadly fervor of his fellow soldiers in Octavian, and pulls away. From here we split off into two endings. 1. (the sad one) Octavian's fate plays out the same as the books and Paris just has to deal with how his actions unintentionally spurred the young man towards his own death. Or 2. (the happy one) Paris leaving is the wake-up call Octavian needs, and he pulls himself out of battle at the last second, breaking the cycle of hatred and wrath that started at Troy. Pick your fighter I guess.
In this scenario, Paris is not the only one who comes back from the doors of death. Half of the Argo II crew find him in Ancient Greece (Don't ask why he's there instead of Turkey idk shhhhh) And he's very helpful to them in whatever quest they're trying to complete at the time. All's well that ends well, except the OTHER half of the Argo II crew actually just met up with Hector on the other side of Greece lol. Turns out neither brother knows the other is alive, and the Argo II take the time to reunite the pair. I would specifically set this in BoO, and have the focus be on Jason and Leo as parallels for Hector and Paris, especially with them both thinking about sacrificing themselves bc of the prophecy (the whole "storm or fire" thing). Like, my idea is that a lot of emphasis would be put on Hector dying first, and how he sacrificed for Troy, and how Paris wishes he could've saved Hector. And Jason would come away from that thinking "Yes, I want to be Hector, i've made peace with making the final sacrifice to keep my friends safe" and Leo thinking "I'll do what Paris couldn't and give my life so that Jason doesn't have to" and ahhhh angst.
This is a ToA scenario instead of an HoO scenario. Paris and one of his siblings come back to life like in the last one, but instead of it being Hector, this time it's Cassandra. Idk when this would happen in the timeline of ToA, bc those books are so tight knit (maybe the infamous TTT to TON roadtrip) But I would add a little side quest where Apollo and Meg have to find Cassandra bc Nero's trying to kidnap her or smth. They run into Paris while they're searching for Cassandra, and the three of them team up for a lil bit. In this scenario, Paris works as a direct parallel to Apollo, all though he's a bit further behind on his redemption journey. Basically, Apollo feels like he's looking at slightly embarrassing old pictures of himself. When they find Cassandra, Apollo offers a genuine apology for everything he did to her. Emboldened by Apollo's example, Paris also opens up to Cassandra in a way he'd never done before. The two are finally able to air out their shared grief from Troy, and they set out to ... idk New Rome or the Waystation or smth. Either way they're a lot closer as siblings now, and Apollo promises to visit them once the Trials are over.
Of course, these are only my ideas that kinda fit into canon, I have a whole bunch more that go entirely off the rails. Anyways this pathetic little failure of a man has bewitched my body and soul or whatever I love rolling him around like a balled up chewing gum wrapper.

is this helpful to anybody?
Robin 1 - Dick Grayson (1940)
Robin 2 - Jason Todd (1984)
¹Robin 3 - Carrie Kelley (1986)
Robin 4 - Tim Drake (1989)
²Robin 5 - Stephanie Brown (1992)
Robin 6 - Damian Wayne (2006)
³Robin 7 - Matt McGinnis (2011)
⁴Robin 8 - Helena Wayne (2011)
⁵Robin 9 - Duke Thomas (2013)
Notes on alternate canons:
Carrie Kelley is canon to The Dark Knight graphic novel series only. For context, Jason Todd dies in 1987.
Stephanie is Schrödinger's Robin – she both was and wasn't a Robin. She replaced Tim Drake, and then that was retconned in the New 52 reboot, and then it was un-retconned via alternate timelines.
Honorable mention for the Batman Beyond timeline on Earth-12 in which Terry McGinnis and his little brother Matt become Batman and Robin after Bruce retires.
Bruce and Selina's daughter on Earth-2, Helena, becomes Robin for a few years well before graduating to Huntress.
The fandom seems split over whether we consider Duke a Robin or not. But considering he literally says, "I am Robin" I count him.

Odd question, but did Tim ever think that he should try and keep the timeline on its original path, before realizing it was almost impossible in DSB?
Like, did he have like a split second where his instincts went, "I have to make sure nothing changes" before realizing it was just impossible, because he would have to take the same steps, say the same things, and he couldn't remember every little detail.
So he just decided to try and give the Bats the happiest life he could, because he couldn't follow through with his old life.
-🎭☕
YUP!! I touched on this a little in chapter one but that was a lot of exposition and so fucking long ago
Basically he went "Oh Fuck I need to do NOTHING" but then went "My brother is suffering from malnourishment rn.... fuck timelines im grabbing some Mcnuggets and going to Crime alley"
and thats why TDSB Jason is still a big boy even if not built like a fridge

Batfam Headcanon Time!!!!
I'm bored, so I'm gonna list some of my headcanon about different Batfam members.
🚨 Disclaimer 🚨
Most of my shit is made from an evil concoction of DC canon in various shows, movies, and comics, along with some fanon for flavour.
Dick Grayson
Was trained to be a Talon but unknowingly. Still does shit that only a Talon should be able to do, but people chalk it up to the acrobatics.
Speaks several languages semi-fluently from life in the circus, is a bit out of practice though since that was a long time ago.
Given that the Joker exists, circuses are not common in Gotham (like I'm sorry, are you gonna go see a clown when there's a chance it's the Joker?) so everyone assumes that Dick misses the circus to some degree cause it's home. As such, they take him to a circus for his birthday one year and it's instead a massive trigger. This makes him really sad as his connection to his parents has been tainted.
Eventually overcomes the fear surrounding the circus, but, despite doing what he does every night, will not go anywhere near a trapeze.
Still says old Golden Age catchphrases out of habit like "Holy blank Batman!" The others poke fun at him for it.
Superman's favourite nephew. If you've seen some of those old comics where Dick, Bruce and Clark are just doing random activities, you'll know what I mean. Superman is like a jungle gym for him to climb.
Jason Todd
All his hair turned white/grey after the pit but he thought it made him look old so died it back to black. Started keeping parts white for the vibes. (This also explains why designs are inconsistent with the white streak, he is inconsistent when dyeing it)
Ages and timelines are inconsistent with DC, so while Jason was only dead for 6 months - 3 years depending on the source, he still missed 1988 - 2005. So he has no idea that the USSR is gone, that the Berlin wall fell. He also doesn't know who Bush is, or what the hell the "world wide web" is. Dick is very excited to introduce him to the concept of the Pokémon TV show.
The Bats realise he's missing a substantial part of history when they're going to Germany for something, and he asks if they're going to the East or the West.
Moves to a different safehouse every time a member of the family shows up at his current one. It's not that he's trying to be tough and mysterious, they just keep eating all his food.
Sneaks all the money he makes off of being a crime lord into the manor then asks Bruce to transfer him some money for stuff. Bruce thinks he's building bridges with his son, Jason is just laundering money through him.
Has mostly adjusted to the sound of laughter so it's no longer a trigger every time. Maybe occasionally if there's some particularly loud laughing or Joker Venom Victims, it'll fuck him up a bit. (Tim's laugh always sets him off though, there's just something about that giggle and the way the corners of his mouth twitch up almost uncontrollably)
Tim Drake
Not a big fan of the idea of him addicted to coffee, but I do think he would like caffeine in general. He strikes me as a fan of Monsters.
Also not a huge fan of the whole sleep deprived vibe. I do think he's got something wrong with his sleep schedule (I mean, he's really busy) but I think it's more an inconsistency than anything else.
Looks almost exactly like Cassandra. One day she cuts her hair the same length as his and it's genuinely confusing to people. They both get sick of being confused to decide to get an eyebrow piercing to help distinguish them. Issue is they both have the same idea and go get the exact same thing done, so now it's even worse.
Stephanie is concerned that, with Cass looking like Tim, she has a 'type'.
Tim will regularly get lifts home from Kon rather than ride home.
Bruce: Good job today Red, want a lift back to the cave or?
Tim: Na, got my own ride.... KONNNNN!!!!!!!
Kon, appearing for a split second to pick Tim up then fly him to the Manor: Hi B! Bye B!
Tim doesn't laugh much after the whole ordeal with Joker Jr. Every time he does, Bruce and Babs get a Look (TM) on their faces and Jason gets mildly triggered (he also has a chance of triggering himself). As such, he restrains himself to small giggles in the manor. With the Young Justice though, he is free to fully belly laugh without risk. His full laugh doesn't sound like He did, so it's safer.
From growing up a Drake, he has his own "Brucie Wayne" persona. Not quite as severe as Bruce, but still got a charming, if dumb, persona he can adopt at the drop of a hat. Uses it infront of everyone once and, while the majority are shocked, Bruce couldn't be more proud.
Also, his parents weren't neglectful and abusive, not the best parents, but not actively hateful. All around C+ or B parenting. They were out a lot, but never left him alone with no food and shit. Bruce is also a C+ parent, still emotionally stunted with a weird thing about killing.
Damian Wayne
Stopped calling himself the "Blood Son" after someone said that meant he was the only kid Bruce didn't choose.
No longer trying to kill Tim, but will put stuff like food dye in his drinks, or throw a pebble in to prove how easy it would be to poison him.
Will work on cases in the barn with the Batcow because he finds comfort in it and being close to someone/something without being vulnerable. Will claim it's because Batcow gives better advice than the others.
Legally, Talia has visitation rights and used this initially to flirt with Bruce. Damian has given up trying to get his Mother's appreciation and, at some point, switched from calling her Mother to calling her Talia. Eventually, begins calling her "Al-Ghul".
Claims he is not the youngest as Jason is technically like 3 since the Pit reset it.
Jon will stay the night and the conversation will go like this:
Damian: Father, Jon has provided insight into this case I am working on and I believe his presence will prove useful later into my investigation. I would like to complete this in a timely manner, so I am requesting that that Jon is permitted to remain here until dawn.
Bruce: ?
Jon: We're having a sleepover!!!!
Damian: It is more akin to a stakeout as we will be using security footage to track the movement of the Condiment King.
Jon: We're gonna stay up aaaaallllll night, and read scary stories, and watch movies, and paint our nails!
Damian: Also we wish to paint our nails.
I'll write more about the extended fam some other time as this has gotten long.

I was reading your jaybin time travel posts, got to thinking about how you usually write Damian as having his own feelings for jason, and now jaybin/Damian is trying to take over my brain
To love Jason is a universal constant, an anchor point. It is an unyielding truth persisting through time and circumstance. In every lifetime, for every iteration of them, Damian knows that it will always be this—them. The capacity doesn't matter, though there are times where his greed gets the best of him and he wants; when his feelings betray him and he hopes.
There is nothing dignified in his pining, but he accepts it for what it is. A star crossed love reduced to youthful folly. A fleeting infatuation that is the truest and most persisting thing Damian has ever known.
There is no one after Jason.
There is no one but Jason.
Too often his steadfast devotion is spurned. His fidelity discounted because Damian is a boy not yet a man. Too wrought with trauma to understand that the love he perceives is nothing more than 'an instinctual response to find safety when his circumstances were otherwise unstable,' 'a persisting coping mechanism because life, still, feels unsafe.'
It's nothing so complicated. Simply put: Jason is challenging. Jason is difficult. He is fight and fire, with split knuckles and blood in bared teeth. All biting wit and sharp tongue; an ornery menace. Capable, competent. More than that - Jason is kind. He is rough edges, jagged in a way that cuts, but he is sensitive and vulnerable in spite of it and the strength in his compassion is breathtaking.
A fierce protector. A gentle caretaker. A brilliant mind with a beautiful heart. With perseverance and fortitude. With tentative benevolence and foolhardy hope.
It doesn't matter that not many others understand nor care to. The mechanization of the universe is too fickle for the comprehension of fools. The universe gives him Jason because there would be nothing without him - not after Damian tears apart worlds and timelines to have him back.
Damian will always fall first; he'll always fall harder.
Unbecoming though it may be to be so hopelessly lovelorn, he pines with grace. It's an unspoken compromise that he will not have more than this. In that same vein, he will not have less. It's something that Damian makes his peace with.
Maybe that's why he feels at such a loss when, due to more Gotham tomfoolery, his Jason is spirited away and replaced by another. It happens abruptly, in a flash bang of light and smoke after Jason pushes Damian out of the way of an oncoming blow. His voice still echoes through the alleys around them, vicious to disguise his panic. And when Damian snatches his hand out to grasp at Jason, he does not find gnarled scars - only brittle bones.
It's a cruel cosmic joke, he thinks to himself. As if this small wisp of a boy who took his beloved's place could ever compare!
========
'In any capacity,' Damian told himself, led astray by romantic whimsy and youthful folly. Tender sentiments make fools of all men. Damian is no exception.
Although Damian fully believes that any version of him loves Jason, he's stubborn in thinking that his love extends specifically to his universe's Jason and no other
Because the Jason of this time and place is his; everything he needed and that helped forge him into this person he's becoming
Jason is it for him. This pint-sized punk (Jaybin)? Damian is not enthused by him if only because Jaybin took away what was Damian's.
Hence Damian's first instinct being an irrational rage and a cold fear that lances through his heart.
For as familiar as Jaybin's eyes are, it misses something that's inherently Jason for him. It's his smile, so reminiscent of what Damian remembers from the league, that leaves Damian feeling like he's on unsteady ground though. Like he can't find his footing.
Even still, Damian being ornery because this Jason is not his Jason and being determined to feel nothing for him.
Joke is on Damian though because of course Damian falls in love with this boy, too.
He's doomed to this person; there's no escape. Damian will always fall for him because Jason's kindness is such an inherent thing to his person and Damian is so damn weak to it.
Just various scenes where Jaybin endears himself to Damian and Damian going from vicious beast to sourpuss to something reluctantly enamored.
Things like Jaybin being a friend to Damian when Damian is otherwise utterly alone and isolated. Jaybin having a strength of character that isn't spooked by the dark and ugly sides of Damian that turns others off to him. Jaybin seeing beneath all that and Damian being all prickly because he doesn't like being seen through so easily. But also, feeling relieved.
More things with Damian bristling over sharing the Robin mantle. Being content for all of a short while because Bruce isn't keen on letting Jaybin out and about, but Jaybin is so clearly lost at that lost connection with Bruce that Damian caves like a fucking softy (he blames Grayson) and takes Jaybin out, himself.
And Jaybin is so thrilled that there are more Robins. Damian talking all sorts of shit about the Robin!Tim because Tim isn't around at the time to defend himself ahahaha
Oh! Damian being at that point where he likes Jaybin, but stalwartly denies it. Him complaining to Dick about how Jaybin seems drawn to him and Dick laughing because he's been there. At which point Damian sputters with jealousy/possessiveness because what. )<
But yeah, Damian looking out for his predecessor. Jaybin also looking after Damian just as much. And he's just as brutal and vicious and fierce as Jason and it's -- wow. Damian has to tug at his collar because it's hot. The weather, of course. Just the weather.
More stuff maybe with all the Robins? Where Jaybin gets into some trouble and Damian is about to well and truly lose it given the crime. Tim having to hold him back before Damian does something he can't take back. And in coming Dick who fucks shit up for Damian as his proxy.
Omg, Jaybin admitting to his crush on Dick to Damian and Damian being so flummoxed because what the hell - he's been friendzoned? For Dick?? And Jaybin being oblivious. And a little tongue-tied because like. When Dick came in to save him it was whoah. Protective violence and cruel passion. Just nonstop blathering because Dick stepped in to do what Damian couldn't (because Damian has Bruce to contend with). It should be Damian fuuuuuuuuuuuu--
Damian gets due credit though. Maybe a little hooked pinky action that gets Damian all flustered. Because it's such a soft point of contact followed up by Jaybin smiling and thanking Damian, too. For coming after him. ;U;
Other thoughts: Jaybin seemingly friendzoning Damian and Damian comparing that to how his Jason rebuffs him.
Jason being easily flustered, but with steadfast morals. It's always 'not interested,' and 'no i'm not gonna wait,' and 'you shouldn't wait either omg--'
It's a persisting argument with them. It always ends on Damian complaining about how Jason forgets himself, a point he reminds Jason of often. It gets him nagged in turn, but it's a pleasant back and forth that settles them both, Damian thinks.
Even still, Damian longs for him.
He longs for Jaybin, too.
And of course Jaybin has a crush on Damian, too. Their relationship is all innocent companionship and playful flirting and tentative affections. Just touch starved, hurt boys finding comfort in each other and feeling seen for the first time. Because they're both a little broken, a little fucked up; more dark and violent and volatile, but also sensitive and guarded and lost. But with each other it's not so scary. ;U;
Anyway, mutual feelings. But of course Damian has a compromise with the universe, so in that moment where Damian can have him, Jaybin is taken away from him. Because Damian won't be without Jason, but he can't have Jason, either.
And Damian knows this, but it fucking hurts. He bears it well, but Jason would see the devastation Damian tries to hide and ugh, Jason would be so guilty. He'd wrap himself around Damian and just. There's no point in apologizing, so he'd thank Damian instead.
For being there for him. For loving him. ;A;
Damian holding fast to this Jason so that he doesn't lose him, too.

watching movies w/ the group
the group x gn!reader (sfw) summary: romantic headcanons of watching a movie with the members of the group. requested?: no a/n: i accidentally deleted this once while writing it entirely. second times the charm ig
isaacwhy
You originally pitched the idea of a movie night date to him. He didn't mind the idea and helped you pick something out from the catalogue you had.
You brought the party downstairs to the couch and TV, in which a few of the housemates came down occasionally throughout the movie for a couple minutes of watch time.
You generally stay cuddled into Isaac, sometimes going so far as to have him wrap his arms around you and hold you, since he's such a big guy.
Isaac is generally a quiet movie watcher, hardly ever talking if only ever to make a joke he thought hard about.
Isaac never falls asleep during movies. He's one of the few people around the house that won't.
Isaac watches a variety of movies, but won't pass up on a good romcom. An unexpected choice, but he loves things like that.
Softwilly
Nick saw a bunch of positive reviews on his twitter timeline and brought you over to see and asked, "you like it?"
Instead of going out to the big screen in the living room, the two of you stayed in his room and watched on his TV under the covers.
Nick also doesn't fall asleep hardly ever to movies. He hates missing out on the film.
Nick watches a lot of action movies. Films like Jason Bourne, Mission Impossible, etc. are right up his alley.
Nick also doesn't talk very often during movies, but he'll make small comments and interact with things you say.
He's a little subtler when it comes to cuddling, so you often just wrap your arms around his arm and put your head on his shoulder, he's very warm so it does wonders.
If anyone attempts to interrupt movie time in his room, they get something thrown at them. Nobody interrupts Nick's movie with his s/o.
BigT / Tanner
Tanner actually came running up to you with the idea to watch a movie, all giddy and excited to show you something new or something he already loved.
Tanner's a 50/50 split on watching things in the movie theater and watching things at home in the living room.
Therefore, Tanner is also a 50/50 split on whether or not he stays awake. He loves going to the theater because it's loud enough to keep him awake.
When it comes to Tanner's movie picks, he loves stupid teen dramas and old action flicks. Mean Girls and the Barbie movie are right up his alley, but so is Jaws.
Tanner often clings to you when cuddling during a movie. You'll have one arm wrapped around his shoulders but he'll have both arms clinging to your torso and pulling you in close.
Tanner likes having candies with him when he watches his movies. Red vines are his favorite movie snack.
Yumi
You originally came up with the idea of watching a movie, but by the time you were watching the film, Blake seemed giddier to watch something with you.
He brought you downstairs, but by the time you reached him at the couch, he was laid out and ready to go with all of his snacks. Because Yumi needs a shit ton of them for movies.
You wonder how he consistently eats them all, yet falls asleep before the first third of the movie is over EVERY time.
Worst part, you can't even cuddle with Blake. He hogs half of the couch single-handedly and takes all of the blankets for himself.
Blake also likes action movies, but he's a jack of all trades. He especially loves superhero movies. Though, he'll watch just about anything as long as you want to.
After the movie is over and Blake has woken up (whether it be that night or the next morning), he asks you if you liked the movie with a big ass grin on his face. It almost makes up for the fact that he was asleep the whole time. Almost.
Larry Croft
You often are the one that brings up the fact that you want to watch a movie to Larry, but almost exclusively Larry is the one that picks what you're watching.
The thing is, Larry has the weirdest movie picks. He will either put on a "so bad it's good" old horror flick that the two of you are laughing at the whole time, or you're watching some super serious, peak cinema film that drops your jaw.
Seriously, he's either looking up the top 50 worst-rated superhero movies or he's searching Letterboxd for new recommendations as to what's people's best-rated movies of all time.
Larry likes simple cuddles. Somewhat holding each other, a blanket on top of you, a really nice night.
Depending on what you're watching, Larry either talks and laughs the whole time or is quite silent, watching the movie intensely. It's kinda scary.
Even with these serious films, though, the most Larry can say about a movie after it's done is, "I liked it," or, "that was good".
His favorite movie is Parasite. Argue with the wall.
